    A Problem with Status

Wen Le spent two days at home on the weekend. During this time, Wen Tianqi was somewhat busy and was hardly at home during the day, except in the evenings.

With nothing else to do, Wen Le changed into more than a dozen outfits in succession and wrote three fashion notes, but she didn’t post them. Instead, she saved them on her computer, planning to post them later.

On Sunday evening, Wen Le suddenly received a message from Zhou Kao, asking which building their house was in. The last time they spoke on the phone, Wen Le told Zhou Kao the name of the neighbourhood she was living in but didn’t specify the building number. Wen Le didn’t know why Zhou Kao was asking this, but she didn’t think much of it and just gave Zhou Kao the address.

After receiving the message, Zhou Kao didn’t reply anymore.

At that time, Wen Le was watching a Korean drama. Since there was no reply on her phone, she didn’t bother about it.

After a while, Zhou Kao’s call came through.

Wen Le answered the phone, and Zhou Kao’s voice came from the receiver, seemingly outside, with the noise of wind blowing through the microphone. Zhou Kao said, “I’m near your house. Come down.”

Wen Le’s heart skipped a beat when she heard this, and subconsciously looked out the window, but all she could see was a large garden with some flowers and plants inside and nothing else.

Wen Le was extremely curious. With such tight security in this neighbourhood, how could Zhou Kao possibly get in without a resident guiding him? But Wen Le didn’t doubt Zhou Kao’s words. She almost immediately got up from the bed and carefully went downstairs. When she met the butler on the way down, he asked her, “Is there anything Miss needs when going downstairs?”

Wen Le waved her hand and said, “Nothing, I just want to take a walk in the garden.”

The butler looked puzzled as he glanced at the yard. He knew Wen Le had delicate skin and was afraid of bugs. Although the courtyard was taken care of by a professional, there were inevitably bugs in areas with soil and plants. He didn’t understand why Wen Le wanted to go to the garden so late at night.

Seeing the butler’s doubt, Wen Le made up another excuse and said, “I have an article that I’m working on which needs me to take some photos of plants outside.”

The butler believed her and reminded Wen Le to wear more clothes because it was cold outside.

In December, Beijing was comfortable with heating readily available, but the nights were still cold. Wen Le wrapped herself in a beige wool coat over her white nightgown.

The night wind was a bit chilly, and Wen Le felt the temperature difference as she walked outside, so she tightened her clothes.

The distance from the main gate to the courtyard was quite far, and if she had to open the gate, it would definitely alert her father.

Zhou Kao probably also considered these factors and told Wen Le to meet him in the backyard.

Wen Le walked towards the direction Zhou Kao mentioned, and there were still some flowers and green plants in the backyard that had not withered.

Holding her phone, Wen Le followed Zhou Kao’s instructions and looked outside the iron fence of the courtyard. She scanned around but didn’t see anyone, making her somewhat suspicious. Could it be that Zhou Kao was deceiving her?

Just as she was thinking, a familiar voice sounded, “Over here.”

Wen Le followed the source of the voice and indeed saw Zhou Kao standing outside the fence in a black trench coat, holding a phone in his hand. The light from the phone screen illuminated Zhou Kao’s face, and under the faint light, Zhou Kao’s handsome face was revealed.

Wen Le’s heart skipped a beat initially, then she couldn’t help but feel pleasantly surprised.

Wen Le almost jogged forward, her eyes full of smiles, her voice crisp and bright like a silver bell. “How did you get here? Isn’t this neighbourhood strictly off-limits to outsiders?”

As far as Wen Le knew, the security in this neighbourhood was so strict that it was almost unbearable. But precisely because of this, it was highly sought after by celebrities, yet few could actually buy a house here. Most of the people living here were big shots.

Zhou Kao saw Wen Le’s eyes glued to him, and he could read the surprise and joy in her eyes. Then, as if infected, a smile gradually spread across his face.

Zhou Kao’s voice was not loud, but low and deep, gentle yet magnetic, especially pleasing on this slightly chilly night. He said, “I wanted to see you and I can always find a way in.”

While part of Wen Le was disdainful that Zhou Kao was flirting with her as soon as they met, she couldn’t help but smile.

The two of them had been together for about two or three months.

It is said that the honeymoon period for most people lasts about three months. Wen Le had once wondered if their feelings would also gradually fade away with the departure of the honeymoon period.

But the reality was quite the opposite.

Their relationship was like wine, becoming purer and sweeter with time.

Because of these two or three months together, they had come to understand each other better. And the more they understood each other, the more they realised how well they fit together.

Wen Le’s view of relationships was deeply influenced by her family. Whether it was the lifelong support between her grandparents or her father’s unwavering love and devotion to her mother for over a decade, the relationships in her family seemed so beautiful to Wen Le.

Perhaps influenced by this, Wen Le treated relationships with a bit of idealism, even to the point of extremism.

Wen Le hoped to find someone who could understand her, be loyal to her, and love her.

She once believed that there were two types of love in this world.

One was driven by dopamine secretion, attracted to each other physiologically. It burned passionately in the short term, but after the honeymoon period, problems would arise, values would clash, or it would be difficult to understand and tolerate each other. This was the type of love that Wen Le rejected.

The other was platonic or spiritual love. Both parties were attracted to each other’s souls, truly understanding each other, truly being soulmates. This was what Wen Le yearned for.

When asked about relationship issues in the past, Wen Le often found herself caught in a conflict between idealism and reality.

On the one hand, she knew her thoughts were unrealistic and overly idealistic.

But on the other hand, she stubbornly held on to them. She had long known that times had changed, and the kind of love she wanted was not easy to find, even in her grandparents’ era, or her parents’ era, let alone now.

The fast pace of modern life made people fickle, casting wide nets, fishing for more, and putting genuine and faithful feelings often at the bottom of the list.

For her goals to be realised, it was even more difficult.

Even Wen Le herself sometimes couldn’t see clearly whether her relationship with Zhou Kao stemmed from the first type of love or if it was a mix of the second type of love as well.

But the fact was, she seemed to have found the right person.

She felt that Zhou Kao could truly understand her.

Because they were fundamentally the same kind of people, only they could understand each other, only they knew each other’s souls, and the longer they spent together, the more evident this became.

This was probably the attraction of their souls.

So much so that even after the honeymoon period of two or three months, when they looked into each other’s eyes, there was a strong surge of emotions, even more intense and passionate than before.

At that moment, Wen Le thought a lot, thought far, but it seemed like she didn’t think of anything at all.

Wen Le took the initiative to walk over and reached out her hand, smiling at Zhou Kao.

Zhou Kao understood and held Wen Le’s hand.

On this cold night, their hands were tightly held together.

The night wind was cold, blowing on Wen Le, rustling her long hair, but she didn’t feel cold. She felt the warmth radiating from Zhou Kao’s palm, feeling a continuous warmth flowing from their clasped hands, warming her hands, warming her heart.

Wen Le sighed. Even though they were separated by an iron fence, she longed to hug him and kiss him again.

They had only seen each other the day before yesterday, but at this moment, holding Zhou Kao’s warm hand and looking into his sparkling eyes, Wen Le realised how much she missed him.

It was miraculous. Her feelings for Zhou Kao were even stronger and more profound than when they were together.

Perhaps when love ran deep, even a tough woman could soften. Wen Le looked at Zhou Kao and whispered softly, “Zhou Kao, kiss me.”

With this soft utterance, Zhou Kao’s eyes reddened. He regretted not being able to break through the fence, enter the courtyard, and embrace her tightly, melding her into his bones and blood.

Zhou Kao took a deep breath. He prided himself on being calm, but he never expected his emotions to be stirred so easily by Wen Le’s words.

He felt like he was going crazy. He was practically bewitched by this woman, yet he welcomed it willingly.

Zhou Kao couldn’t help but think of the ancient stories he read as a child, the irony of the phrase “all’s fair in love and war” ringing in his mind. How could someone become so infatuated over a woman’s smile, to the point of becoming a fool for love?

Although he still couldn’t fully understand it, he now understood why the phrase “a beautiful woman is a disaster” existed.

A true love could make you willing to do anything for her. How could you refuse any request she made?

Zhou Kao had no way to kiss Wen Le through the fence. It tortured him so much that he wished he could climb over the railing to hold her and kiss her.

    But reason restrained him.

So Zhou Kao held Wen Le’s hand, bowed his head, and kissed the couple’s ring on her finger repeatedly.

Zhou Kao’s gentle lips left imprints on Wen Le’s fingers, making her tremble, feeling like her heart had turned into warm honey, sweet enough to make her whole body tremble.

Until they heard footsteps and voices approaching from afar, the two of them alertly released each other.

Zhou Kao instinctively crouched down, using the concrete wall between the railing to conceal his figure.

Wen Le also hurriedly took out her phone, unlocked it, and the screen lit up.

Before long, Wen Tianqi came over with the housekeeper.

    “Wen Le.”

Wen Le turned around and pretended to be surprised. “Dad, why are you here?”

Wen Tianqi said, “The housekeeper told me you came out for a while but hadn’t returned, so I came over because I was worried. What are you doing out here? Why aren’t you going back in such cold weather?”

Wen Le thought to herself that she didn’t feel like she had been out for that long. Had it been a long time?

Wen Le pretended to have just realized, saying, “Oh, I was just taking photos, but then a senior sister messaged me about something related to the Student Union, so I stood here to reply and forgot about taking photos.”

Wen Tianqi asked, “What kind of photos are you taking?”

Wen Le made up a random excuse, “Nothing special, I just got a part-time job, and I need some good-looking pictures for writing articles. I noticed the garden was well-maintained, so I thought I’d come over and take a few shots. I’ll be done soon, Dad, you guys can go back first.”

Wen Tianqi looked around and didn’t find anything suspicious, so he nodded and left with the housekeeper, reminding Wen Le to go back early because of the cold weather.

    Wen Le obediently nodded.

It wasn’t until the two of them had completely disappeared that Wen Le let out a sigh of relief and whispered softly, “You can stand up now.”

Only then did Zhou Kao stand up, leaning against the concrete wall, sighing helplessly. “I feel like I urgently need a status.”

“Do you think I still have a chance?”

I Want to Bury You in The Ground!

After touring Wen Le’s room, Wen Tianqi took Wen Le to other rooms, and as Wen Le had expected, the decoration and furnishings of the other rooms were far less thoughtful than Wen Le’s room. Wen Le even thought that perhaps the room being decorated all this time was hers.

After Wen Tianqi showed Wen Le around all the rooms upstairs, the two of them went downstairs to the dining room to have dinner. Some of the dishes were already on the table, and the servants and housekeepers came one after another to serve more dishes. To Wen Le’s surprise, she encountered a familiar face.

Wen Le couldn’t help but exclaim, “Auntie Jiang!”

Yes, it was indeed Auntie Jiang, Uncle Jiang’s wife. Auntie Jiang had been living with Grandpa and Grandma Wen Le in the mountainous area for the past few years. Auntie Jiang had excellent cooking skills, so she helped out in the kitchen at home and was considered a senior figure who watched Wen Le grow up.

Wen Le had missed Auntie Jiang’s chicken soup terribly during her time away.

Unexpectedly, Auntie Jiang had followed them to Beijing.

Auntie Jiang was also very happy to see Wen Le. She affectionately said, “Old Master heard that Master was moving to Beijing and said that Lele loves my cooking the most. Since my husband is also working with Master in Beijing, he asked me to come and take care of Master and Miss.”

“Master and Miss are always out and about, and if there are no family members taking care of them, not to mention the Old Master and Old Lady, even we ordinary folks would worry.”

Wen Le was very pleased and said, “That’s great! I’ll be so lucky from now on. Auntie Jiang, you have no idea since I started school, I’ve been missing your cooking so much.”

Auntie Jiang smiled and said, “Then Lele, you should eat more tonight. You’ve only been in school for a few months, but you’re already so thin.”

Wen Tianqi looked at Wen Le’s happy expression and couldn’t help but smile as well.

After dinner, Wen Tianqi had a brief conversation with Wen Le before letting her return to her room.

Wen Le hadn’t had time to send a message to Zhou Kao before, but now that she was back in her room, she quickly took out her phone and called Zhou Kao.

The call didn’t go through, showing that the user was busy. Wen Le felt a bit frustrated, thinking that Zhou Kao was probably busy again.

Wen Le sent Zhou Kao a WeChat message, informing him that she had returned home, and then went to the walk-in closet to pick out pajamas and take a shower.

It must be said that Auntie Yu really understood Wen Le’s style. The clothes she prepared for Wen Le always hit the mark. It was unclear whether Auntie Yu understood Wen Le’s preferences or whether Wen Le had been subconsciously influenced by Auntie Yu’s aesthetics over the years, as they had never had any disagreements in terms of taste.

The walk-in closet was huge, probably because Wen Tianqi knew his daughter loved beauty, or perhaps it was because Wen Tianqi genuinely doted on Wen Le. Just the walk-in closet alone was as big as a bedroom.

Wen Le walked around the walk-in closet and found that Auntie Yu had prepared more than ten sets of pajamas for Wen Le for the current season.

Wen Le looked at so many clothes and felt relieved. Humming a tune, she picked out a white vintage French-style long nightgown from more than ten different but equally beautiful styles of pajamas.

This nightgown was made of lightweight and soft fabric, with long sleeves and a long skirt that trailed down to her toes. The only part of her body that could be considered exposed was her collarbone and slender neck, as the nightgown had a square neckline that revealed them beautifully. But because the lace trim of this nightgown was so beautiful, Wen Le still chose it.

After taking a shower and putting on the nightgown, Wen Le came out of the bathroom with her slightly damp hair loose.

The first thing she did was check her phone. There were no missed calls from Zhou Kao, and he hadn’t replied to her WeChat message either.

Wen Le pouted unhappily, thinking he was probably working overtime again, and lay on the bed playing with her phone.

This evening, Wen Le had rare free time but found herself having no drama episodes to chase and books of interest to read, and was at a loss of what to do.

After a while, Wen Le remembered something and took out her laptop from her bag. She suddenly had the idea because some time ago, Shan Shan and Cheng Hui had recommended she share some of her dressing and skincare tips on the Pen Point app to attract fans.

Wen Le thought since she had nothing to do, she might as well give it a try. But this time, she wasn’t writing to attract fans, as Shan Shan and Cheng Hui had suggested.

    How should she put it?

Actually, Wen Le developed a special feeling towards this app when she found out that it was developed by Zhou Kao’s company. She couldn’t quite explain what it was, but Wen Le didn’t want to use this app to attract fans and earn pocket money. She was more interested in experiencing the works of Zhou Kao’s team more intuitively and deeply.

Wen Le thought that after becoming a loyal fan and user of this app, she might have a different perspective on it from that of a fan and user. This way, she could have more substantial conversations with Zhou Kao in the future and perhaps even provide him with some useful feedback.

Thinking back to when Zhou Kao suggested that she intern at Pen Point, Wen Le felt a bit excited. Although she hadn’t decided whether to go or not, there was no problem in making a little preparation.

Thinking of this, Wen Le decided to go for it.

As for what field her first post on Pen Point should start from… Wen Le looked at her walk-in closet, which was filled with clothes, bags, and shoes. She chuckled lightly and had an idea in mind. Naturally, it should start from these.

If you were to ask a girl what her biggest regret was after having a house full of new clothes, that girl would probably answer that it’s not being able to wear all those beautiful clothes to show off to others in a short amount of time.

But if it’s for sharing outfit ideas, then it’s completely satisfying a girl’s vanity of wanting to wear multiple outfits for others to see in a short amount of time.

Well, Wen Le admitted that all the talk about Zhou Kao and Pen Point before was nonsense. She just wanted to show off her new clothes.

    Hahaha!

Wen Le was excited beyond measure. She skipped to the walk-in closet, lightly ran her fingers over the hangers, and selected a few sets of clothes that made her heart flutter the most. Holding the clothes up to the mirror for comparison, she felt so happy she could almost die.

Although she was a straight girl through and through,  straight girls* are still girls, and no woman can resist screaming like crazy over a room full of clothes, and she was no exception. Even Cheng Hui, the tough guy, would go crazy screaming here!

Wen Le picked out six sets of clothes, and from the cabinet behind her, she picked out bags, shoes, and jewelry that matched these clothes.

Wen Tianqi had the extremely valuable jewelry placed in the adjacent secret room. As for the jewelry that was relatively cheap and usually worn, it was placed outside the walk-in closet.

When Wen Le was selecting clothes, she noticed a slight change in these clothes. The clothes sent to her by Aunt Yu in the past never had logos from major brands. However, with a rough look at this batch of clothes, although there were no logos, if you looked closely, you would find that these clothes actually concealed some of the latest and classic styles from big brands.

Wen Le was somewhat puzzled. She had always thought that the clothes she wore were handmade by Aunt Yu. However, Dad said that all the clothes in this walk-in closet were sent by Aunt Yu…

Wen Le couldn’t help but speculate. Perhaps Aunt Yu was also responsible for external procurement work, but she chose to evade it before because she didn’t want to face the true situation of her family, and Dad didn’t want to force her either and informed Aunt Yu accordingly.

So, Aunt Yu never told her about it, and that’s why there had never been anything purchased in her closet. Now that she no longer resisted the reality of her family, Aunt Yu could naturally enrich her wardrobe through procurement. After all, the things she purchased were indeed exquisite.

Wen Le carefully looked at these purchased items. Perhaps it was related to Aunt Yu’s taste or Wen Le’s taste, but they both didn’t like too obvious logos. Therefore, unless someone who really understood looked closely, they wouldn’t know these were luxury items.

Without thinking too much, Wen Le changed into the outfits she had put together, one by one. Then, like other fashion bloggers, she stood in front of the dressing mirror and took photos, only capturing the area below her neck.

She took photos of five sets like this.

Wen Le tidied up her things briefly, almost excitedly ran back to bed, and began writing and sharing notes.

Writing articles was not a difficult task for Wen Le. She also analyzed the common formats and templates used in the app. A simple little note took her no more than 15 minutes to finish, and it was uploaded successfully.

This fuss about picking clothes and changing clothes took almost two hours.

After uploading the notes, Wen Le closed the app and checked the time. It was already 10 p.m.

And there was still no message from Zhou Kao on her phone.

Wen Le glanced at her phone, feeling a bit disappointed, and placed it back. She put on her shoes and went downstairs to find something to eat.

Who knew, as soon as she went downstairs, she ran into Wen Tianqi.

Wen Le naturally greeted him, “Dad, you’re not sleeping yet?”

Wen Tianqi nodded, but his gaze inadvertently swept over something. His whole person paused for a second as if still processing what he saw, but when Wen Tianqi did process it, his entire complexion changed.

Wen Tianqi clearly saw a mark on Wen Le’s neck, which made him think of something extremely bad, and his face turned frighteningly dark.

Wen Le was startled by Wen Tianqi’s reaction. “Dad, what’s wrong with you?”

Wen Tianqi tried hard to tell himself to “stay calm, stay calm”.

He knew Wen Le had delicate skin since she was a child, and her skin reacted greatly to insect bites. He couldn’t jump to conclusions just because of the unusual location.

Thinking of this, Wen Tianqi tried to appear calmer, restrained the urge to kill rising in his heart, and asked Wen Le gently, “Lele, are there many mosquitoes at your school?”

Wen Le didn’t think much of it when she heard this and nodded, “Quite a few. Last time, I even found a centipede in the school.”

Hearing Wen Le say this, Wen Tianqi couldn’t help but console himself: Look, Lele’s school has a lot of bugs.

Thinking of this, Wen Tianqi’s complexion eased a bit, and he wasn’t as scary anymore. He asked, “Was the red mark on your neck caused by a mosquito bite?”

Wen Le knew what was going on as soon as she heard this. She remembered that Zhou Kao seemed to have bitten her neck in the office.

Wen Le was so scared her hands trembled, and her face turned pale. But luckily, Wen Le’s face was originally white, so it wasn’t too obvious unless it turned red.

Wen Le tried hard to tell herself to stay calm and composed.

Then, she displayed her acting skills to the fullest extent possible in her life, trying to make herself look very natural as she scratched the place Zhou Kao had bitten. She pretended to say very naturally, “Yeah, I don’t know what bit me. I hate bugs the most.”

Listening to Wen Le’s somewhat complaining tone, Wen Tianqi finally relaxed and said, “Shall I have someone get you some ointment?”

    Wen Le nodded, “Okay.”

“Oh, why did you come downstairs?”

Wen Le said, “I want to eat some fruit.”

Wen Tianqi said, “Call the butler and have him send it up to you.”

“Oh, I forgot I could do that.”

After saying that, Wen Le went back to her room, called the butler, and had him send up some fruit.

At this time, Zhou Kao finally made the video call, and Wen Le was still angry, so Zhou Kao happened to fall into the trap.

Zhou Kao hadn’t noticed the danger yet, his voice was gentle and low, “Miss me?”

Wen Le angrily said, “Miss you? I want to kill you!”

As she spoke, Wen Le pulled down the collar of her nightgown, “Take a look at what’s this!”

Zhou Kao only saw a flash of white on the screen, with a little red plum blossom blooming in the white.

Zhou Kao’s eyes dimmed, and his voice became a bit hoarse, “This is my mark, of course.”

“You big idiot! I almost got caught by my dad!”

Zhou Kao didn’t care, “If I’m found out, I’ll take responsibility.”

Wen Le was about to go crazy, wishing she could strangle him from afar, “You idiot! In my dad’s eyes, you’re already a ‘boy with frivolous behaviour’. Do you want him to know it was you? Do you want me to dig you a grave?”

    Zhou Kao’s expression cracked, “…Wha-What?”

    A boy with frivolous behaviour…

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 58

    Wen Le’s New Home

“What are you two doing?” They turned around to see Wen Tianqi.

Wen Le felt her heart tighten, feeling extremely guilty. She shot Zhou Kao a quick glare, then turned to Wen Tianqi with a smile and called out, “Dad.”

Upon spotting Wen Tianqi, Zhou Kao withdrew his hand that was about to pinch Wen Le’s cheek and stood politely to the side. Wen Tianqi approached, his sharp gaze sweeping over the two, seemingly assessing and warning, with an almost intimidating pressure.

Feeling the weight of his gaze, Wen Le’s scalp tingled, her heart sinking. Dad couldn’t have found out, could he…?

Remembering her father’s reminders earlier made Wen Le feel overwhelmed. If he found out…what would happen?

As Wen Tianqi approached, his gaze first lingered on Wen Le, seeming to find nothing amiss, then shifted to Zhou Kao standing beside her.

As Wen Tianqi took in Zhou Kao’s handsome face, he felt a sense of familiarity but also slight disapproval. The familiarity stemmed from having seen that face somewhere before, while the disapproval arose from the fact that young girls always liked good-looking boys. Having this young man with such looks around Wen Le made Wen Tianqi uneasy.

Furthermore, the playful behavior between the two just now seemed overly… intimate.

Wen Tianqi’s sharp gaze was like a knife, seemingly wanting to pierce through to the soul.

Just as Wen Le felt embarrassed and wanted to say something, Wen Tianqi suddenly withdrew his gaze, returning to his usual gentle and elegant demeanour. He smiled at Wen Le and said, “Le Le, is this your classmate? Aren’t you going to introduce him to Dad?”

Seeing that her father was no longer scrutinising Zhou Kao, Wen Le secretly breathed a sigh of relief and glanced up.

Sensing Wen Le’s gaze, Zhou Kao took a step forward and said, “Hello, Uncle. I’m Zhou Kao.”

    Hmm?

Wen Tianqi raised an eyebrow, thinking: surnamed Zhou.

Then, as he looked at the boy’s features, Wen Tianqi seemed to finally understand where this familiarity came from.

Sure enough, in the next moment, Zhou Kao said, “My father is Zhou Chengyun. I often heard my father talk about Uncle since I was young, saying that Uncle was the outstanding figure of his generation.”

Flattery knows no bounds, but Zhou Kao earnestly praised Wen Tianqi, probably just to leave a good impression on his future father-in-law.

However, Wen Tianqi clearly wasn’t buying it.

With a faint smile, Wen Tianqi seemed to think of something, his expression becoming complicated and unreadable. He seemed to pay no heed to Zhou Kao’s earlier words.

His indifferent demeanour was far from the usual reaction one would have when hearing praises from a friend’s child.

The air seemed almost stagnant. If it were anyone else, they might feel a bit embarrassed at the moment, but Zhou Kao remained as steady as a rock, smiling humbly and graciously, making it hard not to develop a favourable impression.

Wen Le watched the interaction between the two, feeling as if countless ants were crawling in her heart, causing her agony. After a while, she saw Wen Tianqi relax his expression and return to his usual gentle and refined demeanour, smiling as he said, “So, you’re Chengyun’s son. You’ve grown up so much. Your father and I grew up together since childhood. It’s been so many years since we last met. I wonder how he’s been doing.”

Zhou Kao calmly smiled and replied, “Father’s health has always been good. He mentioned Uncle to me recently. He heard that Uncle returned to the capital and was very happy, saying that he must find an opportunity to have a meal together.”

Wen Tianqi simply said, “Yes, it has been a long time since we last met.”

He then patted Zhou Kao’s shoulder. “Your father was quite a figure back in the day. You’re quite talented as well. Like father, like son.”

Wen Le’s heart skipped a beat as she couldn’t help but glance at her father. No wonder she felt her father’s tone and attitude were somewhat familiar. It turned out that what her father had said to Zhou Kao just now was almost identical to what he had said when he took her to meet the college leaders and teachers earlier.

Thinking of this, Wen Le sighed lightly. Although her father seemed to appreciate Zhou Kao on the surface, it wasn’t as genuine as he appeared. It was just polite greetings, and perhaps even colder and more distant beneath the surface.

Zhou Kao probably sensed Wen Tianqi’s polite distance, so the two bid farewell shortly after their conversation.

Before leaving, Zhou Kao smiled reassuringly at Wen Le when Wen Tianqi wasn’t looking.

Wen Le walked beside Wen Tianqi as they left the school together.

From the school auditorium to the school parking lot, Wen Tianqi didn’t say a word the entire time.

Wen Le secretly glanced at her father, noticing that his expression wasn’t very good. It wasn’t until they got into the car and sat down, with the driver slowly starting the car, that Wen Tianqi’s expression returned to normal.

Wen Le glanced at Wen Tianqi’s improved expression and cautiously struck up a conversation, “Dad, do you know Zhou Kao’s father?”

Wen Tianqi remained silent but instead asked Wen Le, “How did that boy find out about your identity?”

Wen Le’s back stiffened, and her fingers instinctively clenched together. Feeling the pressure of her father’s gaze, Wen Le felt uneasy and whispered, “I told him…”

Wen Tianqi’s voice carried a hint of displeasure. “Are you very close to him?”

Wen Le didn’t know how to respond, so she lied, “We were classmates in high school. We’ve always been competitive. In high school, we competed for the top spot. In college, he was in the student union, and I was in the student council. We’re friends but also rivals. As for my identity, he noticed the necklace I was wearing last time and asked me about it… So, I admitted…”

After finishing her explanation, Wen Le realised that what she said wasn’t exactly a lie; it was all true, except she omitted the fact that Zhou Kao was her boyfriend.

Wen Tianqi frowned slightly at her words, thinking to himself how could Zhou from the Zhou family be Wen Le’s high school classmate? But then he remembered that Zhou Chengyun had indeed been transferred to a remote mountainous area three years ago, and then it all made sense.

Wen Tianqi couldn’t help but think back to the past. Back then, Wen Tianqi and Zhou Chengyun had the kind of relationship Wen Le described, except the only difference was that both he and Zhou Chengyun were boys. So the competition between them was even fiercer than between Wen Le and Zhou Kao. They weren’t friends or sympathisers; they simply couldn’t stand each other.

Because both of them were outstanding in their generation, they were always compared. They had been fierce competitors since kindergarten. Wen Tianqi never expected it would still be the case in their children’s generation.

Wen Tianqi chuckled softly to himself, thinking, The Zhou family just won’t go away.

Looking at Wen Le, he said, “Lele, do you remember what Dad told you before?”

    Wen Le nodded.

Satisfied, Wen Tianqi continued, “At your age, studying should still be your priority. Of course, socializing is also important, but you need to discern who can be friends and who should only be acquaintances. And some people are best kept at a distance.”

Wen Tianqi couldn’t help but recall the scene he witnessed earlier today, where Zhou Kao’s hand was about to squeeze Wen Le’s face. He frowned, feeling an urge to chop off that annoying hand.

Continuing in a chilly tone, Wen Tianqi said, “…for example, boys with frivolous behaviour are best kept at a distance. Associating with the wrong people can have a very negative impact on you. Of course, you’re old enough to understand these things, so there’s no need for Dad to say much.”

At first, Wen Le felt a bit guilty upon hearing the first part, but when she heard the latter part about “boys with frivolous behaviour,” those words kept flashing through her mind like a barrage of on-screen comments popping up.

Wen Le had to force herself to contain her laughter in front of her father. She realised that the scene where Zhou Kao wanted to squeeze her face had left a very bad impression on her father. While feeling a bit amused, Wen Le also felt worried.

Zhou Kao, this disappointing guy, managed to leave such a bad impression on Dad at their first meeting, labeling him as a “boy with frivolous behaviour.”

The car drove into the villa area, along the spacious roads, and into the courtyard of the detached villa.

It was hard to imagine such a luxurious villa area in the prime location of Beijing.

Wen Le got out of the car. Looking at the huge villa that resembled a small castle, she once again realised that her family was indeed wealthy.

Wen Tianqi led Wen Le inside while explaining, “We bought this villa several years ago, but because we haven’t been to Beijing much in recent years, it has been vacant. It wasn’t until the year you entered college that Dad remembered to refurbish it. Your room is on the second floor. Go take a look. If there’s anything you’re not satisfied with, let Xiao Yang know, and he’ll take care of it.”

The interior of the villa was magnificently decorated in European style, and Wen Le could tell that it was meticulously designed when the villa was purchased.

Wen Le ascended the stairs to the second floor and entered her room.

It was a huge suite, probably more than 200 square metres just for Wen Le’s room alone.

There were large French windows, beautiful crystal chandeliers, every corner meticulously decorated, and thick carpets covering the floor, creating a soft and warm atmosphere throughout the room.

There was a living room, bedroom, balcony resembling a castle, a huge bathroom, and a walk-in closet.

Wen Le walked into the walk-in closet and saw it filled with brand-new handbags, clothes, and high heels, neatly arranged and occupying three walls entirely. All of them were new items that Wen Le had never worn or used before.

Wen Tianqi said, “These clothes were all prepared for you by Auntie Yu. Recently, I haven’t been sending clothes to you at school because I had Auntie Yu send them all here.”

Looking at those clothes, bags, and shoes, Wen Le felt an overwhelming sense of happiness. What could be more joyful for a girl than seeing a room full of beautiful clothes, shoes, and bags that belong to her?

However, Wen Tianqi immediately demonstrated that there was indeed something even more joyful.

Perhaps Wen Le hadn’t expected it, but the closet door at the far end of the walk-in closet was actually a hidden door.

Wen Tianqi led Wen Le over to open that closet door, revealing a password-protected door inside.

Wen Tianqi entered the password, which Wen Le could clearly see was her lunar birthday.

With a soft click, the password door opened, and Wen Le followed Wen Tianqi inside. The sound-activated lights automatically turned on, nearly dazzling Wen Le’s eyes with the dazzling array of colourful jewels inside.

It was a room filled with jewelry.

Inside, Wen Le saw some jade and ruby jewelry that her father had given her last time, as well as some jewelry she had never seen before.

In this huge room, glass cabinets lined the walls, each filled with such jewels.

Wen Le’s eyes widened, feeling like she was in a dream.

Wen Tianqi looked at his arrangement, very satisfied.

Wen Tianqi couldn’t help but lower his head to look at Wen Le, wanting to know his daughter’s reaction, only to see Wen Le standing quietly in place, saying nothing.

Wen Tianqi couldn’t help feeling a bit nervous and asked Wen Le in a low voice, “Lele, do you like it?”

Wen Le turned to look at her father, her eyes crescent-shaped, sparkling with light.

She could see the care her father had put into this room, every detail, every little decoration, even the flower in the vase was carefully chosen.

Her father’s cautiousness in asking if she liked it resembled that of a clumsy father trying to please his daughter.

Tears welled up in Wen Le’s eyes. “Yes, I like it,” she said earnestly, “I love every bit of it.”

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 57

    Edited by Elv

    This Is My Daughter

The two of them stuck together and continued to be affectionate until around 4:10 pm before heading to the school auditorium. About 7 minutes later, they reached the auditorium, and as the crowd increased, Wen Le held Zhou Kao’s hand, preventing him from moving forward.

Zhou Kao turned to look at Wen Le, asking, “What’s going on?”

Wen Le said, “Did you forget what I told you earlier?”

Zhou Kao replied, “I remember, but it’s still quite a distance away from the auditorium.”

Wen Le explained, “We might get noticed if we go any further.”

    Zhou Kao sighed, “Okay, okay.”

Wen Le repeated, “I’ll go in first, and when I message you, you can come in, okay?”

Zhou Kao gestured with an OK sign.

Wen Le said, “Then find a place to wait quickly.”

Saying that, she shook off Zhou Kao and walked towards the auditorium. It was almost 4:20, and the auditorium was almost full.

The title of the person in charge of Tianyin Group was quite prominent, attracting a significant audience. The large auditorium was packed with people, and there were still many people crowded at the entrance. When Wen Le walked by, she attracted the attention of many.

Wen Le walked from the left aisle of the auditorium to the last row, going towards the corner her roommates mentioned. As expected, in the farthest corner sat her roommates Cheng Hui, Man Qingxuan, and Bao Xiaofan. From a distance, they saw Wen Le and waved to her.

Wen Le walked over, attracting even more attention. She saw two empty seats at the last row, on the outer edge, with backpacks placed on them. Wen Le sat down in the innermost position.

The commotion in the back naturally caught the attention of the front row. Several male and female students turned around, noticing Wen Le. They looked at her with an investigative gaze, as if they had discovered something interesting.

Seeing Wen Le’s arrival, her roommates took away the bags on her seat and winked at her.

Ignoring them, Wen Le lowered her head, took out her phone, and sent a message to Zhou Kao.

Wen Le sat for about two minutes, then said, “I’m going to the restroom.” She didn’t lower her voice, so the students in the front row could also hear.

Holding her phone, Wen Le went to the women’s restroom, closed the door, and sent a message to Zhou Kao: “You can come in now.”

Upon receiving the message, Zhou Kao got up and walked into the auditorium. By now, it was almost 4:25, and the entire auditorium was filled with people. The noisy audience gradually quieted down. Zhou Kao walked into the auditorium under the gaze of everyone.

Zhou Kao stood still at the entrance, glancing at the audience seats. With his natural height advantage of 1.88 metres and his non-myopic eyes, he quickly found the only two empty seats in the room, at the farthest corner of the last row.

Under the gaze of everyone, Zhou Kao confidently walked towards the last row, specifically the two seats that Cheng Hui and her friends had saved for them. These were probably the last two seats in the entire venue.

People watching Zhou Kao saw him bow his head and ask the students sitting beside the vacant seats, “Excuse me, is anyone sitting here?”

The girl sitting closer to the outside hesitated for a moment and nodded, seemingly surprised by Zhou Kao’s unexpected appearance. Since there was no one, Zhou Kao sat in the outermost seat.

However, after Zhou Kao took his seat, the girl who had nodded hesitated to say, “But, but… there’s someone next to you…”

Zhou Kao gently reassured her, “It’s okay.”

After Zhou Kao sat down, the girl who had nodded just now stuttered, “But, but… there’s someone next to you…”

Zhou Kao calmly sent a message to Wen Le: “Your roommate’s really good at acting.”

    Wen Le: …

It seemed that only one seat was left in the entire venue. Those far away didn’t know who occupied the other vacant seat, but those in the front row had seen Wen Le. They naturally knew who was sitting there.

Thinking about it, those in the front row couldn’t help but wonder, is it really okay? After all, that person is Wen Le, and your relationship doesn’t seem too good… Is it okay for you two to sit together like this?

While these thoughts crossed their minds, they were more excited than anything else. They probably sighed in their hearts, Wen Le and Zhou Kao were indeed the most diligent melon farmers at University A.

Just as they were thinking this, a slender figure appeared at the entrance of the auditorium, walking gracefully towards them. The outstanding posture clearly belonged to Wen Le.

Wen Le’s hands were still a bit wet, obviously just returning from the restroom. This was normal, but…

    But something seemed off.

Thinking about it, Wen Le slowly, very slowly, walked toward the place where Zhou Kao had just taken a seat.

People in the audience chuckled silently at this seemingly fateful and peculiar encounter between the two incompatible individuals. In reality, it was all part of the plan by the residents of Dormitory 307.

Unaware of the situation, the crowd believed it was a strange coincidence, so the entire venue fell silent. Countless pairs of eyes were fixed on the two people in the last row.

Wen Le’s face seemed to stiffen a bit when she saw Zhou Kao, and those closer could vaguely hear her voice.

Wen Le was very polite but also somewhat distant as she said, “Sorry, that seat inside is mine.”

Her tone seemed a bit cold.

The onlookers then saw Zhou Kao nod expressionlessly and show no intention of giving up his seat. He just slightly adjusted his long legs, making it seem like he was inconveniencing Wen Le.

That handsome and arrogant face seemed to say, “I’ve made room for you, either come in or stay out.”

It appeared that Wen Le’s expression darkened a bit, and she hesitated for a moment. Then, she reluctantly squeezed through the narrow gap Zhou Kao had left, tightly pressed against the front chair.

Midway through, it seemed that Zhou Kao did something to trip her, and Wen Le stumbled.

At this point, Wen Le’s expression became even more unpleasant. Onlookers thought, “These two really don’t get along privately.”

It wasn’t until exactly 4:30 PM that a group of people in suits entered the venue. The host went on stage, and at this moment, everyone’s attention gradually shifted away.

In a place where others couldn’t see, Wen Le pinched Zhou Kao’s thigh hard. He had to play around with her in front of so many people.

The incident wasn’t about Zhou Kao tripping Wen Le; it was about Zhou Kao subtly placing his knee between her legs while she lifted her skirt to walk inside. This act was accompanied by a provocative touch.

In front of so many people, Wen Le couldn’t tolerate this teasing. Her legs went weak for a moment, almost sitting directly on Zhou Kao’s lap. Wen Le gritted her teeth, thinking that he must have done it on purpose.

Moreover, the auditorium’s audience lights were dim, and Wen Le’s long hair cast shadows. Contrary to what everyone thought was a dark expression, Wen Le’s face was actually turning red. But gritting her teeth was genuine.

When Wen Tianqi, dressed in a suit, walked onto the stage, a stir erupted in the audience. Wen Le faintly heard someone say he looked handsome.

Wen Le chuckled softly, thinking that her dad had maintained himself well over the years and did indeed look like a handsome older gentleman.

Then, she heard a girl nearby whisper, “This Mr. Wen, the head of Tianyin Group, is still a single king. You also have a chance, you know.”

Wen Le’s face turned even darker at this remark. She thought, “I consider you classmates, and you’re thinking of becoming my stepmom?”

In fact, Wen Le had some conflicting feelings about this matter. Her family rarely mentioned her mom. Since Wen Le became mature and sensible, she has never mentioned her mom in front of elders.

For many years, her dad had remained single, and a search for news about the head of Tianyin Group, Wen Tianqi, on the internet would yield no gossip.

Her dad’s clean record always gave Wen Le a sense of security. It conveyed the message that her dad deeply loved her mom and that she held an eternal place in his heart.

So, despite the absence of her mom in their family, Wen Le felt a complete and secure family environment.

Actually, Wen Le was also conflicted. Grandpa, Grandma, and her all lived in the mountainous area. It was tough for her dad to support the entire Wen family alone, and Wen Le hoped someone could accompany her dad. However, she didn’t want her dad to have another woman in his heart, apart from her mom.

In reality, Wen Le was sometimes quite selfish, instinctively avoiding the possibility of his dad remarrying.

Seeing Wen Le’s troubled expression, Zhou Kao knew she had heard the conversation just now. In a place where no one could see, he quietly held Wen Le’s hand, intertwined their fingers, and gently caressed the ring on Wen Le’s middle finger.

The sound of their couple rings clashing echoed softly, catching Wen Le’s attention. She looked up at Zhou Kao, gave a gentle smile, and the gloom in her heart dispersed a bit. She reciprocated by tightly holding Zhou Kao’s hand.

The two of them, unseen by others, held hands, legs lightly pressed together, occasionally exchanging glances, tender and gentle.

Until Wen Le sensed something was wrong, abruptly turning her head, only to discover her three roommates staring intently at them. Three pairs of eyes almost emitted gleams of light. Wen Le blushed, hastily pulling her hand away from Zhou Kao’s grip.

However, Zhou Kao tightened his grip, preventing Wen Le from letting go, and turned to the three curious roommates, nodding and smiling.

Seeing Zhou Kao greeting them and getting close, the three roommates chuckled secretly.

After the host finished the opening remarks, Wen Tianqi officially began the lecture. His voice was warm, his demeanour refined, exuding the charm of a mature man. Many girls in the audience were captivated by him.

Although Zhou Kao and Wen Le held hands tightly, they almost didn’t exchange whispers throughout the lecture. They both focused intently on Wen Tianqi, earnestly listening to his speech.

At the end of the lecture, Wen Tianqi gained many young fans. During the Q&A session, the host mentioned that questions could be directed to Mr. Wen, and many students eagerly raised their hands.

Zhou Kao, engrossed in listening, subconsciously raised his hand. Wen Le, with a start, quickly realised the situation and pulled down Zhou Kao’s hand as he attempted to raise it.

In a hushed voice, Wen Le said, “Are you crazy? My dad might see us.”

Zhou Kao raised an eyebrow, and seeing Wen Le embarrassed, she whispered again, “You’ll have plenty of chances in the future to ask…”

Zhou Kao chuckled and nodded, “Alright, I’ll let it go this time.”

After the Q&A session, the host thanked everyone, and the students started to leave. Remembering that her dad asked her to wait, Wen Le asked her roommates to leave first. Zhou Kao was still waiting for Wen Le.

Wen Le, thinking of her dad, told Zhou Kao to go ahead, saying, “I’ll go back with my dad.”

Taking advantage of no one paying attention, Zhou Kao ruffled Wen Le’s hair, “Call me when you get home.”

Wen Le nodded, and Zhou Kao left.

The students in the auditorium dispersed in groups. Wen Tianqi stayed behind, chatting with a few teachers outside.

Wen Le sat in the auditorium, waiting for her dad to finish his conversation. Not long after, Xiao Yang came in.

Seeing Wen Le playing with her phone in the auditorium, Xiao Yang quickly walked over to her. “Miss, your father is looking for you.”

Wen Le nodded, handed her bag to Xiao Yang, and followed him to find her dad.

Wen Tianqi was chatting with people, including some leaders from the college and successful business figures hired from outside the college.

University A is not only one of the top universities in the country but also the highest resource platform nationwide. Many teachers in the School of Economics are renowned figures in the business world, teaching here through special appointments.

Wen Tianqi, as the head of the longstanding influential family, held many resources. Therefore, not only students attended the lecture, but also several specially appointed professors came to get acquainted with him.

Seeing Wen Le approaching, Wen Tianqi waved his hand, saying, “Le Le, come over.”

Wen Le walked to Wen Tianqi’s side. She knew most of the people present, so she greeted each of them. Everyone was surprised, but looking at the similarities in the eyes and eyebrows of Wen Le and Wen Tianqi, combined with their shared last name, they quickly understood.

Indeed, Wen Tianqi said, “This is my daughter, who also happens to be studying at your prestigious institution. She’s currently a year 2 student.”

The people present were shocked. It was actually true!

However, there were still rumours outside that Wen Tianqi had been single for so many years without a wife or children. It turned out he already had a grown-up daughter.

It seemed that Wen Tianqi genuinely cherished his daughter, keeping her so well-protected that there was no information leaking to the outside world.

One of the external teachers present smiled and said, “Mr. Wen, I always thought you were carefree without any attachments. I didn’t expect you to secretly cultivate such an outstanding heir. I know about Wen Le; she has swept up all the awards in our college, truly surpassing her predecessors.”

This sentence seemed to open a floodgate of praises. “I was wondering whose child is so outstanding. It turns out to be Mr. Wen’s daughter. Haha, if my son could achieve half of Le Le’s accomplishments, I would wake up laughing from my dreams.”

The dean had an impression of Wen Le and remembered that she seemed to be from a mountainous area. So he casually asked, “But how come Wen Le is said to be living in the mountains?”

Wen Tianqi patted Le Le’s shoulder, laughing, “As kids, it’s still better for them to grow up in a relatively innocent environment, so I decided to let her stay in seclusion with her grandpa there.”

Only then did everyone remember that Master Wen was also quite a character, rumoured to be living in seclusion in the mountains.

“Wishing you filial piety in the presence of your old man.”

After exchanging pleasantries, they started talking about other things. Wen Tianqi said to Wen Le, “You go ahead and take care of your matters.”

Wen Le bid farewell to the professors and turned to leave the office.

As she walked around the corner in the corridor, she was suddenly pulled by her shoulders and pressed against the wall.

Wen Le was startled and, seeing that it was Zhou Kao, hit his shoulder in protest. “You scared me! What are you doing here instead of going back?”

Zhou Kao replied, “I forgot I had something to do upstairs. Where are you going?”

Wen Le’s ears tingled as she glanced around. “I’m going out to wait. Dad is talking to the teachers; he might come over in a while.”

Zhou Kao said, “Then I won’t leave. I’ll stay with you a bit longer.”

Wen Le teased, “Why are you so clingy? Didn’t I say I’d call you when I’m done?”

Zhou Kao sighed again, saying, “A video call can’t alleviate my lovesickness.”

Wen Le chuckled, “Well, it’s not my fault. In the end, you’re the busy one.”

“They say men who are dedicated to their careers are the most charming. I’m afraid if I lose my charm, you won’t love me anymore.”

Wen Le sneered, “Why do I like you, do you even know?”

“Do you really think you have some charm? If it weren’t for your good looks, do you think you could have gotten a girlfriend with this mouth of yours?”

Zhou Kao made a teasing sound as if he was about to pinch Wen Le’s face, but she laughed and dodged.

Wen Le added fuel to the fire, saying, “Think about it. Before we got together, were you speaking like a human being?”

“Before being together, you were a scumbag; after being together, you’re a playboy. You never have a serious moment.”

Zhou Kao covered his chest, saying, “Ouch.”

“We’ve just been together for a short while, and you’re already complaining about me.”

Wen Le laughed heartily, and Zhou Kao was about to reach up to pinch her face when a distant voice interrupted them, “Le Le.”

They both turned around and saw that it was Wen Tianqi.

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 56

Blockhead When It Comes To Love

Wen Le said, “Doesn’t this mean we’re announcing our relationship?”

Cheng Hui replied, “Silly, there are ways to make an official announcement, whether it’s an official one or not, there’s a lot of room for maneuvering.”

“You can do it like this…” Cheng Hui whispered a plan into Wen Le’s ear.

Wen Le blushed. This plan would have to be implemented in front of her roommates… That was too embarrassing.

Cheng Hui patted Wen Le’s arm. “Come on, don’t be timid.”

After some thought, Wen Le decided to call Zhou Kao.

Zhou Kao answered the phone with a slightly weary but gentle voice, “Missed me so soon?”

Wen Le laughed and scolded, “Don’t be narcissistic; I’m calling about something important.”

Zhou Kao lazily replied, “What important matters could there be between us?”

Wen Le scolded, “Don’t be cheeky; listen carefully.”

Zhou Kao smiled and said, “Okay, leader, go ahead.”

Wen Le hesitated for a moment and then said, “On Friday… I want to take you to meet… my dad. How about it?”

Zhou Kao was taken aback, thinking that Wen Le finally decided to go public. He quickly nodded, “Sure, it’s settled. You’re not allowed to back out.”

Hearing Zhou Kao’s tone, Wen Le knew he misunderstood. She hurriedly explained, “It’s not what you think…”

Zhou Kao furrowed his brows. Wen Le continued, “On Friday afternoon, my dad is coming to our college to give a lecture. I just found out. I can’t skip my dad’s lecture, but we made plans for Friday…”

Zhou Kao, realising he had jumped to conclusions, sighed, “Oh, I see. I misunderstood.”

Hearing Zhou Kao’s tone, Wen Le’s heart softened involuntarily.

Poor Wen Le, born with a delicate and charming appearance, yet had a straightforward and masculine heart. Cheng Hui often teased her that if she were a guy, she would surely be surrounded by all the green tea* and white lotus* girls.

Wen Le, however, wore an embarrassed expression as she denied that she couldn’t resist Zhou Kao when he acted cute and vulnerable with her as he normally acts in a strong and domineering manner. This significant contrast was what she found charming, and if he were genuinely delicate like a typical “green tea”, he might not even catch her attention. The essence of her attraction to him lay in Zhou Kao’s strength and excellence.

So, for the first time, Cheng Hui directly experienced the sweetness of dog food and blushed deeply.

“Isn’t this supposed to be a gradual process…” Wen Le couldn’t stand Zhou Kao’s weak and pitiful tone. Unable to come up with sweet words to comfort him, she subtly expressed her longing, “Let’s go together, please? It’s been so long since we’ve seen each other too.”

Zhou Kao’s voice was deep, “Then, do you miss me?”

Wen Le’s face turned bright red. As someone insensitive to romantic emotions, she couldn’t come up with sweet words to comfort someone. Her face was so red that she couldn’t utter a word.

However, Zhou Kao seemed determined to hear Wen Le say it before giving up. He persistently asked, “Do you or do you not miss me?”

Forced by his persistence, Wen Le became anxious, feeling a mix of embarrassment and anger. She gritted her teeth and said, “I miss you so much, hurry up and come!”

After saying this, she hung up the phone. On the other end, Zhou Kao looked at the disconnected phone and burst into laughter, finding it amusing.

His secretary opened the door and heard Zhou Kao’s laughter. With a puzzled expression and a hint of shock, she thought their young boss, though young, usually acted quite mature.

His handsome face was usually devoid of expression and could freeze anyone in their tracks. It was the first time she had seen their young boss laugh like this and wondered what had happened.

When Wen Le finished the call and came out, Man Qingxuan and Bao Xiaofan had already returned. Seeing Wen Le pushing the door open from the washroom, her face still flushed, Cheng Hui couldn’t help but glance at Sun Youmei, who was on the bed pulling the curtain, not knowing what she was doing. Cheng Hui teasingly said to Wen Le, “Oh, look at your blushing face. Did your handsome school hunk Zhou tease you again?”

Wen Le glanced at Cheng Hui and said, “I’m annoyed.”

Man Qingxuan and Bao Xiaofan approached, saying, “Whispering sweet nothings over the phone again?”

Cheng Hui, hearing this, briefly explained, “She plans to invite school hunk Zhou to accompany her to the lecture on Friday.”

Then she looked at Wen Le and asked, “What? Did your school hunk Zhou not agree?”

Wen Le replied, “I don’t know. We had a little disagreement, but he should come.”

Cheng Hui sneered, “What do you mean by a little disagreement?”

“A little disagreement is just that—a little disagreement.”

Even if she unilaterally declared a little disagreement, it was still a little disagreement.

Man Qingxuan said, “Had a disagreement, and he’s still coming?”

    Wen Le replied, “Yes.”

Bao Xiaofan suddenly lit up, “Hehehe… so, can we tune in to watch?”

Cheng Hui and Man Qingxuan, excited, hugged each other and exclaimed, “Ah ah ah ah! Watch! Watch! Watch!”

Bao Xiaofan was so excited, “Haha, I can’t imagine what it would be like for this love blockhead to be in love.”

Man Qingxuan also laughed, “Hahaha, I don’t know why, but I find it a bit funny, hahaha.”

Wen Le glared at the two of them, “Ah ah ah! You guys are too much.”

On Friday afternoon, the atmosphere in Room 307 seemed a bit excited.

Cheng Hui, Man Qingxuan, and Bao Xiaofan had already dressed neatly and arrived at the school auditorium one hour in advance. Before leaving, Cheng Hui repeatedly reminded Wen Le: “We’ll go to save seats first, and you and Zhou Kao can come later.”

Cheng Hui reiterated, “Do you still remember what I told you?”

Wen Le nodded, “Yes, I remember.”

Just before leaving, Cheng Hui reminded once again, “We’ll be in the last row at the corner of the auditorium. If you don’t know where it is, send us a message on WeChat.”

Wen Le nodded again and urged, “Okay, okay, you guys go quickly.”

In her heart, Wen Le scoffed. She initially thought it was nothing, but the excited appearance of these three made her a bit nervous.

The lecture was scheduled to start at 4:30 in the afternoon and last until 6:00 in the evening.

After the three left, Wen Le called Zhou Kao.

    “Where are you now?”

    Zhou Kao said, “At school.”

“Why? Isn’t the lecture supposed to start at 4:30? What, miss me already?”

Wen Le laughed and scolded, “Conceited.”

Zhou Kao looked at the time and said, “It’s only 3:30 now, still an hour before the lecture starts. Do you have any plans?”

Wen Le raised an eyebrow, “No, what do you want to do?”

Zhou Kao said, “I’m in the Student Union office. Come over; there’s no one here. How about we go to the auditorium together around 4:00?”

Wen Le thought about the crowded auditorium and the inconvenience for them to do anything there, so she nodded.

The Student Union was different from the Social Council, and their activity building was in the adjacent S building.

When Wen Le arrived at the S building, there weren’t many people around.

Following the address provided by Zhou Kao, Wen Le found Room 201.

Wen Le knocked on the door, and it quickly opened. A hand reached out, pulling Wen Le inside.

Then Wen Le felt a force push her against the wall. A shadow cast over her, and she was embraced around the waist, her chin held and firmly kissed.

This sequence of actions was completed almost in an instant, the speed so fast that Wen Le’s exclamation was directly swallowed by his kiss.

Wen Le’s heart was still pounding violently, but it was quickly soothed by the familiar breath between their noses.

After not seeing each other for over twenty days, the couple in the midst of a passionate relationship was like a pile of dry tinder—once ignited, it became uncontrollable.

Zhou Kao’s eyes reddened, filled with a hazy yet fiery desire. He seemed to want to devour Wen Le whole. His actions were fierce and intense, plundering her breath, sucking, licking, and biting her lips.

Wen Le was also a bit excited, responding with unprecedented enthusiasm which further aroused Zhou Kao. Wen Le’s voice gradually revealed a broken tone under the excitement.

In the heat of the moment, things escalated. Several buttons of Wen Le’s shirt were unbuttoned, and it continued until warm hands touched the surging softness. Wen Le trembled at the waist, her legs went weak, and that’s when she snapped back to reality.

Weakly pushing against Zhou Kao’s chest, Wen Le’s actions paused.

Zhou Kao hesitated for a moment, fiercely sucked a few times on Wen Le’s neck, and then let her go.

However, the two remained unwilling to part, leaning on each other to calm their breaths.

In a husky and low voice, Zhou Kao whispered in Wen Le’s ear, “I missed you so much.”

Wen Le’s heart tingled at the words, and she couldn’t help but hug Zhou Kao again, kissing the corner of his lips gently, murmuring, “Me too.”

Zhou Kao, panting, bit fiercely on Wen Le’s neck, warning, “Don’t play with fire, or I’ll handle you right here.”

The bite made Wen Le wince, and she hammered his chest hard, but with her weakened strength, it was more like a cat’s scratch.

The two cuddled for a while until Wen Le’s phone rang.

Wen Le took out her phone and glanced at it; it was her dad calling.

A bit puzzled, Wen Le answered, “Hello, Dad?”

Wen Tianqi’s voice came through the phone, “Lele, today Dad is giving a lecture at your school. You should know, right?”

Wen Le nodded, a bit of complaining evident in her tone, “Dad didn’t even tell me.”

    “Dad wanted to surprise you.”

Wen Le thought, What kind of surprise is this? It’s more like a shock!

Wen Tianqi said, “You’ll come to Dad’s lecture?”

Wen Le replied, “Of course, it’s Dad’s lecture, I’ll definitely be there to support you.”

    Wen Tianqi chuckled, “Good girl.”

He continued, “After the lecture, if you have nothing else, come home with Dad. The house is ready, and you’ve never visited. The lecture will be over just in time for dinner. The housekeeper has already prepared a meal. On the first night of moving in, let’s have a good meal together, just the two of us, okay?”

Hearing her dad’s words, Wen Le felt awkward about refusing, but she had plans with Zhou Kao. They hadn’t seen each other for so long, and there were only a few hours left.  Wen Le looked at Zhou Kao with some difficulty.

Zhou Kao, who was hugging Wen Le from behind, had probably heard their conversation, but he kept his eyes lowered, not saying a word.

Wen Le did not want to reject her dad, yet she also did not want to reject her boyfriend, thus she hesitated for a moment. Yet in this short moment,  Wen Tianqi seemed to have sensed her struggle. “Lele, do you have something in the afternoon?”

Wen Tianqi sighed, his voice a bit disappointed. “Dad shouldn’t have surprised you like this without informing you earlier.”

Wen Le hadn’t spoken yet when Zhou Kao pinched Wen Le’s earlobe, shook his head lightly, and gestured for them to make plans next time, signaling Wen Le to go home and eat.

She felt guilty but did not want to disregard Zhou Kao’s act of kindness, thus she nodded, replying: “I’m free, and so happens I also want to see the new house.”

Wen Tianqi, in a good mood, said, “Great, Lele, after the lecture, Dad will take you straight home. However, you might need to wait a bit. Dad may need to have a chat with the school leaders.”

Wen Le nodded, ended the call, and looked at Zhou Kao.

Feeling guilty, Wen Le touched Zhou Kao’s cheek, still somewhat unwilling.

Yet Zhou Kao kissed Wen Le’s hand and said with a smile, “The fact that you hesitated for me when your dad invited you already makes me satisfied.”

Wen Le, hearing this, felt her heart soften even more. She gently stroked Zhou Kao’s hair and said in a soft voice, “Ah, why are you so understanding? It makes me feel guilty.”

Zhou Kao touched Wen Le’s nose and said hoarsely, “Of course, I have to get all this time lost back from you. Don’t think you can escape.”

He then let his hand slide deeper into Wen Le’s shirt. Blushing, she slapped his hand away, saying, “Stop fooling around.”

Zhou Kao kissed Wen Le’s neck, his voice low and husky, “Serious people don’t date. What’s the point of being proper in a relationship?”

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 55

    Lecture by Father Wen

In the latter half of November, whether in academics or work, Zhou Kao was extremely busy, working late into the night. The two of them hadn’t seen each other for almost half a month, relying solely on phone communication. Sometimes, when Zhou Kao was too busy, they didn’t even have time for a phone call.

Wen Le also immersed herself in busy academic and club activities. Despite being no longer single, she realised that her life hadn’t changed much.

This was fine with her; she liked this kind of state.

However, there were moments when she missed Zhou Kao, whom she hadn’t seen for over twenty days.

Online posts about them were like shooting stars—ephemeral. There was always new gossip for netizens to discuss, as if the once explosive fight between the campus heartthrob and goddess had never happened. Netizens’ impressions of their relationship stubbornly stayed at the level of tense private relations and avoidance.

In reality, Wen Le and Zhou Kao gave off the impression of being in opposition. One was always striving to be first, a top student in the School of Economics and Finance, and winner of various awards. The other was proud and dominant, ranking first in the School of Law’s Constitutional, Legal, and Administrative Law Department, also a recipient of numerous awards.

One was seen as the most promising potential talent in the Student Union, and the other was the most promising talent in the Social Council.

Both had proud and dominant personalities, and with their intense and fierce fight in the parking lot, if one of them changed their gender, it could easily be scripted into a novel as a showdown between the male lead and the second male lead.

However, these misunderstandings fundamentally had no impact on the two of them. It just meant that fewer classmates dared to mention Zhou Kao in front of Wen Le.

Many times, Wen Le heard classmates from the Social Council gossiping about meeting Zhou Kao at the Student Union, but as soon as they saw Wen Le coming in, they immediately stopped the topic, greeted her with a smile, and changed the subject.

Wen Le felt somewhat helpless; she actually wanted to hear what happened when they met Zhou Kao in the Student Union…

Academic life remained hectic, and the four occupants of Room 307 resumed their lifestyle of coming and going early to late nights in the library. Sun Youmei seemed to have emerged from the shadow of her breakup. Perhaps losing her boyfriend’s financial support made her life simpler. She was no longer as arrogant, and her words were not as harsh.

However, something unexpected happened among the four roommates.

After Sun Youmei broke up, she left the dormitory after being upset for two days, claiming she needed to go home to recover from her bad mood. Since her home was in Beijing, no one thought much of it.

However, Sun Youmei stayed at home for over twenty days without attending classes. When the four roommates started suspecting if something had happened to her, Sun Youmei returned to the dormitory wearing a mask.

Initially, Dormitory 307 assumed Sun Youmei had caught a cold. However, when she took off her mask, they saw that she had undergone plastic surgery on her nose.

According to Sun Youmei, she had the nose job ten days ago, but her nose was still a bit swollen. Sun Youmei originally had a cute little flat nose that, when paired with her small, round face and large deer-like eyes, looked sweet and adorable.

Now, she had raised her nose, losing a bit of cuteness and gaining a touch of allure. It was undeniably beautiful, but…

It seemed like her nose was raised too high, making it a bit awkward from certain angles.

Sun Youmei, as if oblivious, coquettishly asked everyone if her new appearance looked good.

They all smiled and said, “It looks good.”

In their minds, maybe once the swelling went down, it would look better. Sun Youmei seemed happy on the surface, but in reality, her nerves were still fragile and couldn’t handle too much criticism.

The affair between Jin Lin and that internet celebrity had ultimately affected her.

It was strange, though. Sun Youmei’s parents were very conservative people. How could they allow her to take leave for plastic surgery? Sun Youmei’s parents didn’t even know that she was emotionally hurt because Sun Youmei never dared to tell them about her past relationship with Jin Lin.

Until one day, Cheng Hui secretly told Wen Le that she accidentally saw a message on Sun Youmei’s phone about a campus loan, suspecting that she hadn’t gone home at all but had gone to the hospital directly after borrowing money for plastic surgery.

Wen Le was surprised. “Can she repay the loan?”

Cheng Hui opened her phone, searching for something, and said, “It seems like she also realized that without a boyfriend, she might not be able to maintain the image of a rich beauty. So she decided to become an internet celebrity… maybe influenced by that internet celebrity who became the third wheel.”

“Anyway, she recorded her state during the plastic surgery and posted it on PenPoint. It attracted quite a few fans, and now she has tens of thousands of followers. She probably wants to earn money by becoming an internet celebrity. Actually, she’s quite suitable for it. In just a few days, she gained so many followers.”

“If she can find her own path and support herself through this breakup, it’s a kind of growth. Her boyfriend wasn’t reliable from the beginning.”

“But I’m a bit worried about her nose; her nostrils seem to be getting more prominent…”

While sighing, Wen Le thought that there was probably nothing in the dormitory that could be hidden from this human microscope. In her eyes, everything was transparent.

At the end of November, Zhou Kao finally had some free time. He called Wen Le, and the two of them chatted on the phone for an hour, making plans to go on a date on Friday.

The next day, the national scholarship was announced, and Wen Le was summoned to the counsellor’s office to fill out some paperwork.

In the office, there were only the counsellor and Wen Le. They chatted like friends. The counsellor was young and had a good relationship with the students. During their conversation, Wen Le suddenly remembered the incident when she was called to the office last time.

Wen Le hesitated for a moment. “Teacher, the person who reported me last time was Ai Fei, right? Because in our dormitory, only Ai Fei didn’t know that I have never used that bag since I bought it.”

The counsellor paused at the words, looked at Wen Le with a clear and calm gaze, neither confirming nor denying, just smiling and saying, “I’ve been a counsellor for a few years now. Every time there’s something related to interests, lawsuits are inevitable. Whether it’s for the national scholarship, outstanding student awards, or postgraduate recommendation quotas, such things happen quite often. Universities are a microcosm of society, and there’s no need to be overly surprised. And the truth of the matter, teachers are well aware.”

“But when doing something, people always need to think clearly about what’s more important, immediate benefits or inner principles. We can’t force others, but we can always control ourselves, don’t you think?”

The counsellor never explicitly stated whether Ai Fei did it, but the teacher’s attitude indicated that it was indeed Ai Fei. If Wen Le had accused Ai Fei wrongly, the counsellor would have at least said something to make Wen Le stop overthinking, but the counsellor didn’t. Instead, the counsellor advised her to understand what was most important.

Wen Le smiled and nodded, “Teacher, you’re right. I still believe that inner principles are more important.”

These words seemed like a commitment to the counsellor. The counsellor smiled satisfactorily, looking at Wen Le with appreciative eyes.

Wen Le recalled the previous misunderstanding and felt the need to explain it thoroughly. She added, “Also, about my bag…”

The counsellor shook her head with a smile, giving Wen Le face, “Le Le, the teacher knows you’re a good kid. The matter of the bag is not something the teacher cares about. Honestly, it’s normal for girls of your age to buy luxury bags.”

She even winked understandingly at Wen Le.

Wen Le was amused and said, “Teacher, that’s not what I wanted to talk about. Actually, I wanted to say that, due to my household registration and address, many people assume my family is less well-off. The university even thought about giving me financial assistance. I didn’t reject it because of pride; it’s just that, in reality, our family conditions are quite good.”

The counsellor patiently listened to Wen Le.

Wen Le seemed unsure how to explain it properly. After hesitating for a moment, she bit her lip and continued, “Teacher, you may have seen the emergency contact information I filled out. My dad’s name is Wen Tianqi…”

The counsellor nodded naturally, saying, “I know. Your dad is also named Wen Tianqi, the same as the CEO of Tianyin Group.”

Wen Le shook her head with a smile, “No, Teacher, you misunderstood. It’s not the same name; my dad is Wen Tianqi, the CEO of Tianyin Group.”

The counsellor said, “Alright, not the same name…”

“Wait a minute! What did you say? Your dad is the CEO of Tianyin Group?”

The counsellor looked Wen Le up and down, ensuring she couldn’t find any traces of lying on Wen Le’s face. The teacher’s voice was somewhat stuttering, “But your household registration is not…”

Wen Le said, “That’s correct. I lived in seclusion in the mountains with my grandparents. But indeed, my dad is Wen Tianqi.”

The teacher was shocked beyond words, never expecting that Wen Le, who was considered a poor girl from the mountainous area, fitting the image with her clothing and lifestyle, would turn out to be the young lady of the Tianyin Group!

Tian Yin Group, also known as an old and prestigious super-rich family!

My goodness! So, this is the low-key style of old money?

The counsellor was somewhat bewildered and mumbled, “Rich people live in the suburbs, and super-rich people live in the mountains? It turns out that wealthy people really yearn for nature…”

After a moment, the counsellor suddenly realized and took out a stack of promotional materials from the desk. After a quick glance, she suddenly understood, “No wonder Mr. Wen Tianqi agreed to give a lecture at our college this Friday. The dean was puzzled before, wondering why Mr. Wen Tianqi, who is an alumnus of the nearby Beijing University, has never given a lecture there but chose to come directly to our university. It turns out that it’s because you’re here!”

Wen Le’s expression was even more shocked than the counsellor’s. “Teacher, what are you saying? Is my dad coming to give a lecture at the school?”

The counsellor was puzzled, “Didn’t your dad tell you?”

Wen Le quickly took out her phone and checked, making sure there were no messages from her dad, Uncle Jiang, or Xiao Yang. She slowly shook her head.

The counsellor said, “Maybe your dad wants to give you a surprise.”

Wen Le asked, “Teacher, can you tell me what time my dad is coming on Friday?”

The counsellor replied, “Friday afternoon, and it’s mandatory for everyone in our department to attend.”

Wen Le lamented internally. She had plans with Zhou Kao on Friday, but if she didn’t attend her dad’s lecture, her dad would surely ask about it.

The counsellor explained, “Because the information was confirmed at the last minute, the promotional materials have just been printed. You coming here is perfect…”

The counsellor counted out a stack and handed it to Wen Le, saying, “When you go back to the dormitory, distribute these to every female dorm, and of course, there will be notifications in the group. Basically, attendance is required for our department, and these promotional materials are also for other departments to see.”

Wen Le took the poster, and the counsellor, looking at the handsome and elegant face of Wen Tianqi on the promotional page, then at Wen Le, smiled and said, “If you hadn’t told me I wouldn’t have noticed, but now that you mention it, I realise you and your dad really look alike, as if carved from the same mould. Indeed, daughters resemble their fathers.”

Wen Le returned to the dormitory, following the counsellor’s instructions, and delivered the promotional materials to every dorm. While closing the door, she could hear other female students in the dormitory expressing amazement at the promotional pages.

Holding the promotional materials, Wen Le returned to the dormitory. Inside, Sun Youmei was lying on her bed, pulling the curtains open with the lights on, doing something.

Cheng Hui, Bao Xiaofan, and Man Qingxuan were at the table watching dramas as they ate.

Wen Le placed the promotional materials on the table and said, “The counsellor said there’s a promotional lecture on Friday.”

Hearing this, Man Qingxuan sighed in disappointment, “Why another lecture? Who is it this time? Ah, ah, ah, I was planning to go out and have fun on Friday afternoon! Ah, ah, ah, ah!”

Bao Xiaofan, picking up two promotional pages and handing one to Man Qingxuan while looking at the promotional page, said, “Wen Tianqi, the person in charge of Tian Yin Group?”

Bao Xiaofan put down the promotional page and thought for a moment, “Strange, what does Tianyin Group do? The name sounds familiar, but I can’t remember.”

However, Man Qingxuan screamed, “Ah, ah, ah, this uncle is too handsome!”

At these words, Bao Xiaofan immediately digressed, “Oh my god! He’s really freaking handsome!”

Cheng Hui snorted and said, “I don’t know about Tian Yin Group, or if it’s from our department. It’s probably like a domestic version of the Rothschild family, but not quite. They are involved in everything, and it’s quite formidable. The real power is not in the group itself, but in the family behind Tian Yin Group.”

“The Wen family! I mean, flip through the family tree of this family, and many are familiar names from history. A truly ancient and powerful family. But they say that in recent years, they are no longer active in China, maybe operating in coastal areas and abroad. I don’t know how the school managed to invite them.”

Man Qingxuan was shocked, “Oh my god, so powerful? Does their family have the richest person in the world?

Cheng Hui said, “I don’t know, it seems like many of their family’s industries are overseas, anyway, it’s super awesome.”

“But…” Cheng Hui muttered quietly, “Why does this person feel a bit like…”

As Cheng Hui spoke, she looked at Wen Le, who had been silent since earlier, suddenly widening her eyes.

Wen Le looked at Cheng Hui, thinking, what in the world can still be hidden from this human microscope? She then nodded slowly.

    “Bang!”

Cheng Hui fell directly from her chair. Even though it happened this way, she still seemed oblivious to the pain and stared at Wen Le as if her soul had left her body.

Bao Xiaofan and Man Qingxuan hurriedly went over to help Cheng Hui.

Wen Le also walked over and whispered, “Doesn’t your bottom hurt?”

Cheng Hui, exasperated, said, “My brain hurts.”

Discovering that her roommate in the dormitory had suddenly become the daughter of an ancient and powerful super-rich family, and just now she was boasting about how powerful her family was in front of her – Cheng Hui didn’t feel embarrassed; she just found it magical and shocking.

Cheng Hui, supported by the two, couldn’t come to terms with the situation. “I need to go lie down. This world is too magical.”

After finishing their meal, Man Qingxuan and Bao Xiaofan went down together to throw away the trash. Cheng Hui, still in a state of confusion, grabbed Wen Le and whispered, “I knew your family was wealthy; I just thought you were from an ordinary business family. I didn’t expect… Fuck, your family is so amazing.”

Wen Le comfortingly patted Cheng Hui’s shoulder without saying anything.

Seeing Wen Le’s troubled expression from earlier, Cheng Hui couldn’t help but ask, “What are you thinking?”

Wen Le sighed, “I have plans with Zhou Kao on Friday afternoon, but my dad is giving a lecture at that time. If I’m not there, I’m afraid my dad will ask. But I don’t want to waste the time to meet Zhou Kao because he might be busy over the weekend.”

Cheng Hui said, “What’s the big deal? Just bring your boyfriend to listen to your dad’s lecture!”

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 54

    Pen Point APP

Human Microscope: You guys are really showing off your love!

Wen Le sent a tongue-out emoji to Cheng Hui and then turned her phone screen down on the table.

Seeing Wen Le’s face turning slightly red again, Zhou Kao couldn’t help but ask, “What’s wrong?”

Wen Le, feeling a bit embarrassed by the new wave of teasing, glared at Zhou Kao. “You still dare to ask, don’t you know what you did?”

This alluring glare, full of charm, seemed to have no lethal effect but rather stirred Zhou Kao’s curiosity. With an innocent look, Zhou Kao asked, “What did I do?”

Wen Le showed Zhou Kao the photo Cheng Hui sent. “Did you post this on the confession board?”

Zhou Kao looked at the photo with a smile on his face, not answering but counter-questioning, “When do you plan to give me a proper status?”

    A status?

Wen Le suddenly remembered what her father said the last time they met.

Wen Le cleared her throat, put down her utensils, lightly pressed the corner of her mouth with a napkin, and then leaned back in the chair like a hot scumbag who didn’t want to take responsibility, “Status is something you have to earn yourself. You can’t forcefully demand it…”

However, under Zhou Kao’s gaze, Wen Le’s voice became quieter.

Zhou Kao’s smile gradually froze. “So you don’t plan to give me a proper status?”

Wen Le stole a glance at Zhou Kao, realising that he was looking at her with a condemning gaze as if saying, “You scumbag.”

After a while, she finally spoke the truth, “Well, it’s… my dad doesn’t really agree.”

“?” Zhou Kao wondered what ridiculous excuse Wen Le was making.

Wen Le looked at Zhou Kao with a sincere gaze. “Really, my dad said that boys who try to seduce me now have bad intentions and want me to focus on my studies first.”

    Zhou Kao: ?

Wen Le continued, “Do you understand?”

    Zhou Kao: …

    Zhou Kao: “Not really.”

Wen Le said, “My dad is moving to Beijing, and the house is about to be done with its renovations.”

Wen Le watched Zhou Kao’s expression, and slowly said, “So, don’t you think it’s better for us to keep a low profile for now?”

After a while, Zhou Kao nodded as if he had suffered a great grievance. “Okay.”

Seeing Zhou Kao like this, Wen Le still felt a bit guilty, but Zhou Kao continued with a tone of grievance, “How are you going to compensate me then?”

    “Huh?”

Wen Le felt the slight guilt in her heart instantly disappear. She raised an eyebrow and said, “What kind of compensation do you want?”

Zhou Kao said, “Will you spend the weekend with me?”

Wen Le raised her eyebrows but didn’t say anything.

Zhou Kao lowered his voice, “Is it okay~?”

Wen Le shivered, feeling that since they got together, Zhou Kao seemed to have acquired some incredible skill, something akin to a cute and vulnerable act that she couldn’t resist.

Wen Le’s eyes wandered, and she cleared her throat, “Assuming I don’t have anything else to do.”

Upon hearing Wen Le’s words, Zhou Kao knew she agreed and couldn’t help but smile.

This smile was light, but the meaning reached the depths of his eyes, like the thawing of winter snow, a clear stream flowing gently. The first rays of spring sunlight entered the water, creating ripples, soft yet stunning.

Wen Le, being a beauty herself and also a fan of good looks, found Zhou Kao utterly irresistible.

She thought she might be the kind of monarch who, when a beauty smiled, could pluck the stars from the sky.

When it was time for dessert, Wen Le suddenly remembered the photos Zhou Kao posted on the confession board and wondered about the reaction from others. So, she downloaded the BBS app again, logged into the school forum, and checked for reactions.

Wen Le didn’t frequent the forum, so she wasn’t very familiar with its functions. But what she was looking for was located at the very top of the BBS entertainment section. Wen Le quickly realised that it was probably the post she was looking for.

#BreakingNews! Confession Board Exposes Secrets: Campus Heartthrob and Goddess Shake Hands in Reconciliation!

Wen Le couldn’t help but roll her eyes. As expected.

The original poster first posted two pictures, one was a screenshot of the dynamic “shake hands in reconciliation” from the confession board plus a nine-grid screenshot. The other was a separate picture of the two holding hands in mid-air.

1st comment: Did they flip this so quickly? We said these two were too professional to be in a normal fight. Are you embarrassed now?

2nd comment: Wow, both of them are actually black belts! No wonder they look so cool.

3rd comment: Trust me, even if I had a black belt, I wouldn’t look that good at fighting.

4th comment: Fake, yesterday there was a leak about a fight, and immediately they arranged training photos. I’ve never heard that these two were learning taekwondo together before; it’s obviously just for publicity.

5th comment: Amazing, they both clarified together, and you still don’t believe it. You’re just a salty fan looking for trouble.

6th comment: The acting traces are too obvious. Wen Le’s smile looks too fake, obviously unwilling, and Zhou Kao is even more fake. When have you ever seen Zhou Kao smile like this? What an overreaction.

7th comment: Just because they put on black clothes means they’re doing Muay Thai? Who knows if they borrowed the clothes; it’s not professional at all. And they even wore rings while fighting, haha.

8th comment: Exactly, both of them are wearing rings, sigh.

9th comment: The acting is too obvious, all this was just to clear their name, tsk tsk.

10th comment: Unbelievable, you don’t even believe this? There are so many salty fans. Their fight wasn’t normal in the first place. When I first saw someone criticising them for low morals and publicly fighting, I was puzzled. It’s obvious they were just testing each other, okay?

11th comment: Even if they were really just testing and not fighting, their private relationship must be bad. According to insiders, when they held a fellowship, the two were always at odds with each other.

12th comment: I just want to know why they posted on the confession board. Was it because they didn’t download the BBS app?

13th comment: Confirmed, no fighting, but their relationship is really bad.

Wen Le sighed as she looked at the comments, “Why would they think our private relationship is bad?”

Zhou Kao, with a faint smile, sarcastically said, “These people are too malicious; they must be single dogs who can’t stand seeing other couples in love.”

But Zhou Kao’s tone changed, “Actually, to be honest, it’s our fault. Just blame us for being too lazy, and never showing our affection to others.”

Zhou Kao moved his wrist slightly, smiling, “It’s time to do something.”

Wen Le looked at Zhou Kao warily, quickly saying, “Don’t be cheesy.”

    Zhou Kao suddenly chuckled softly.

Wen Le, puzzled, asked, “What are you laughing at?”

Zhou Kao glanced at her playfully, “Laughing at how cute you are.”

As if he was going to kiss Wen Le, she pushed Zhou Kao away, saying, “Annoying, go away.”

    Zhou Kao’s laughter didn’t stop.

Wen Le ignored him and asked about the afternoon plans, “Are you going back to the company after lunch?”

Zhou Kao nodded, “There are a lot of things recently, I need to go back in the afternoon.”

The waiter brought dessert to the table. Wen Le picked a bit of ice cream cake with a small fork, took a sip, and comfortably squinted her eyes. Putting down the fork, she said, “By the way, although I’ve been to your company, I still don’t know what your company does.”

Zhou Kao also picked up a bite of ice cream, but he found it too sweet, so he only took one bite and put the fork down.

“Do you know about the PenPoint APP?”

Wen Le nodded. Wasn’t that the app that Dan Shan and Cheng Hui recommended to her before? She still had it on her phone.

Zhou Kao said, “PenPoint is developed by our company, and it’s the first project I took over with the team after managing the company.”

Wen Le was somewhat surprised. She didn’t expect that the currently popular app, even one she was using, was made by her boyfriend’s company.

    “Surprised?”

    “A bit.”

It was said that the current market value of PenPoint has exceeded 300 million, and it had only been three years since he established it.

“Have you used this app? How do you feel about it?”

Wen Le smiled helplessly, took out the app from her phone, and showed it to Zhou Kao. “This app was also recommended to me by a friend recently. Honestly, I really like the concept and design of PenPoint.”

Zhou Kao chuckled at her words. As a developer, hearing affirmations from users was naturally pleasing, and receiving recognition from his girlfriend as a user added to the joy.

However, Zhou Kao didn’t continue to inquire. Instead, he shifted the conversation to work-related matters.

Wen Le asked, “So, you’ve been preparing for PenPoint’s transformation recently?”

Zhou Kao nodded, “There are more and more excellent apps on the market. Taking the lead doesn’t guarantee safety. If you can’t retain users with your unique advantages, you’ll still be eliminated by the market.”

“The functions of the PenPoint app are not irreplaceable. There have been discussions on similar problems in the old platforms with many loyal users, even more users than ours. But what sets PenPoint apart is that it consolidates the scattered knowledge-sharing features of those apps.”

“Nowadays, many old platforms are developing more auxiliary functions based on their original functions. Sooner or later, some old platforms will develop auxiliary functions similar to PenPoint. If PenPoint cannot transform or retain loyal fans, it will be eliminated sooner or later.”

“So, the company is currently studying PenPoint’s transformation plan.”

Suddenly, Zhou Kao looked at Wen Le and said, “You will probably also get involved in these things in the future. What do you think about PenPoint’s transformation?”

Wen Le thought for a moment and said, “PenPoint’s initial concept and positioning have left a lot of room for future transformation. Following the current functions and market development, it can definitely develop a live streaming and e-commerce model. This will not only increase platform traffic but also retain some influencers and users.”

“In fact, if PenPoint continues to develop, I think there are two paths it can take: one is specialised, targeting the female market as a platform exclusively for women’s communication. This would reduce operating costs and provide users with a better sense of belonging, making it easier to cultivate users’ feelings toward the app.”

“The other path is diversified. I noticed that PenPoint initially did not limit itself to a female communication and sharing platform. It could differentiate through categorization, using different tags to distinguish various communication areas, such as female, male, students, parenting, cute pets, trendy gadgets, entertainment, etc., to broaden the market and audience.”

Zhou Kao nodded with a smile, “Your thoughts align with ours internally. The company hopes that PenPoint will provide a one-stop service for note-taking, evaluations, e-commerce, and sharing in the future.”

Wen Le nodded and said, “This is actually a virtuous cycle. Users choose to buy products after seeing the notes and evaluations of influencers. Through sharing products, they increase their fan base. Fans who see the shared products may also go on to purchase, creating a continuous cycle.”

“And this cycle not only drives product purchases but also eliminates products through continuous evaluations and sharing, prompting developers to develop better products to gain market share.”

Suddenly, Zhou Kao said, “It seems like you’re quite interested in PenPoint. How about interning at our company during your junior year?”

Wen Le was tempted. She really wanted to agree, but then she thought of her current identity—the only child of the Wen family. Wen Le said, “I don’t know if my dad has any arrangements.”

Zhou Kao tempted her, “Come to our company. I know you like PenPoint.”

“… And, don’t you want to work with me?”

Wen Le blinked, to be honest, she was really tempted.

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 53

    The F**k, An Official Announcement?

Wen Le called Zhou Kao, but no one answered, so she left a WeChat message for him.

However, Wen Le didn’t receive Zhou Kao’s call. Instead, she received a call from the school counselor.

Looking at the incoming call display, Wen Le’s heart tightened, don’t tell me the counsellor had also seen that post on the forum…

Please don’t let that be the reason why she’s calling me…

Sometimes, fate toys with you. The more you don’t want something to happen, the more likely it is to happen.

The counselor’s mood was clearly not good on the phone.

Wen Le’s mood was also not great. Although she had been in a few fights since childhood, she had never been caught by a teacher. So, she was known as a well-behaved and good student throughout her many years of school. This was the first time for Wen Le to be approached by a teacher because of a fight.

It was like doing something that wasn’t that bad, but someone happened to catch it and published it to the whole world. In the end, it even reached the teacher. Clearly, you did nothing wrong, but people who didn’t know the situation would say you were wrong.

Feeling wronged and uncomfortable, Wen Le answered the teacher’s call, “Teacher Zhang.”

The counselor’s voice sounded a bit urgent, and it seemed like she was really angry. “Wen Le, what’s going on with the video online?”

“You don’t seem like this kind of student. How could you fight with a boy in public? And how did this matter become so big?”

“Wen Le, you can tell the teacher what happened. Is there a misunderstanding in between, or did that boy do something excessive to you? You should tell the teacher. I can help you, I know you’re not the kind of child who casually fights with boys.”

Wen Le, feeling even more uncomfortable, replied, “Teacher, things are really not like what’s being said online. There’s no grudge between us. It’s just…”

Wen Le didn’t know how to explain. After thinking for a while, she decided to lie and said, “We both practise taekwondo in the same gym. We’re both black belts in taekwondo. After I finished a match, I happened to meet Zhou Kao, and we chatted for a while. Then we talked about the previous match. Zhou Kao said that I had a few movements that were not standard and wanted to correct them for me. So, we started a friendly match.”

“Teacher, as you can see, we’re not the kind of people who fight.”

Hearing this, the counselor sighed in relief. “Ahh, that sounds about right! This really gave me a shock. I just didn’t expect such a gentle girl like you to also learn taekwondo and be quite intimidating in a fight.”

Wen Le forced a smile and said, “My family says it can be used for self-defense.”

The school counselor said, “Since it’s a misunderstanding, it’s better to clarify it sooner. What’s being said online is really harsh, and if people who don’t know the situation see you fighting in public, it won’t be good for our college and our school. It’s better to clarify it as soon as possible.”

Wen Le nodded. She still felt a bit guilty. Indeed, if people on the internet really believed that she had fought with Zhou Kao in public, it would have a negative impact on the work of the college, department, and counselor.

After hanging up the phone, Wen Le felt a bit down. At this moment, Zhou Kao’s call came in.

Because of her not-so-good mood, Wen Le’s voice sounded weak and listless when she answered, “Hello.”

When Zhou Kao heard Wen Le’s “hello,” he furrowed his brows and asked, “Feeling down? What happened?”

Wen Le replied, “I just called you. Why didn’t you answer?”

Zhou Kao explained, “I was taking a shower, and as soon as I saw your missed call, I called you back. What happened?”

Wen Le muttered discontentedly, “I sent you a message on WeChat. Go check it.”

Zhou Kao sensed that Wen Le wasn’t in a good mood, nodded, and said, “Okay, I’ll check it and call you back.”

In less than ten minutes, Zhou Kao returned the call.

Wen Le answered, “What’s on your mind?”

Zhou Kao asked, “Is it because of this that you’re feeling down?”

Wen Le nodded, “The counselor just called me. Sigh…”

Wen Le didn’t continue, holding her phone with one hand and pulling at her skirt with the other, muffledly saying, “If I had known this would happen, I wouldn’t have fought with you.”

Zhou Kao said, “Alright, don’t be upset. It’s not a big deal.”

Zhou Kao appeared relaxed, with a smiling tone, as if this matter was genuinely trivial, and he cared more about his girlfriend’s unhappiness.

But it must be said that Zhou Kao’s attitude inadvertently comforted Wen Le’s uneasy heart.

Zhou Kao said, “Have a good night’s sleep tonight. Tomorrow I’ll take you to clarify things, okay?”

Listening to Zhou Kao’s tone, which sounded like he was coaxing a child, Wen Le couldn’t help but chuckle.

However, the laughter seemed weak and lacked the usual liveliness, probably due to her recent low spirits.

Zhou Kao felt sorry and said, “Did you download the BBS app?”

Wen Le nodded and replied slowly, “I just did it a moment ago.” Zhou Kao advised, “Then uninstall it now. There’s no need to download this app before meeting your boyfriend. Besides wasting time, it serves no real purpose and only ruins your mood.”

Hearing Zhou Kao’s words, Wen Le burst into laughter.

The earlier gloom seemed to dissipate, and she had always been like this—depressed moods never troubled her for too long.

Perhaps this time, it dissipated unusually fast because of Zhou Kao.

Wen Le teased, “If the seniors who developed and run the app knew about this, they would probably fight you.”

Zhou Kao, hearing that Wen Le had regained her spirit, felt relieved.

Zhou Kao said, “Okay, it seems we’ll have to go on another date tomorrow.”

Wen Le pursed her lips, “It sounds a bit forced. Did you even ask if I have time?”

Zhou Kao followed up, “Then may I ask my girlfriend if she has time to go on a date with me tomorrow?”

Wen Le laughed, “Alright, I have no plans all day tomorrow. What do you want to do?”

Zhou Kao asked, “Can you guess?”

Wen Le thought for a moment and said, “Are you planning to take me to the taekwondo gym for a date, and then take a few pictures to prove that we are really engaging in friendly skill training and sparring?”

Zhou Kao smiled and said, “Smart, but… it’s more than that.”

Wen Le squinted alertly, “What are you up to? You’re not planning something tricky again, are you?”

Zhou Kao replied, “You’ll find out tomorrow.”

After saying this, Zhou Kao whispered something to Wen Le, and then they hung up, with Wen Le’s face turning red.

Entering the dormitory, the redness on Wen Le’s ears had not yet faded.

Cheng Hui looked at Wen Le suspiciously and asked, “Didn’t you just go to answer the counselor’s call? You…?”

Pointing to Wen Le’s blushing ears, Cheng Hui questioned, “What does this mean?”

In response, Wen Le blushed even more, pushed Cheng Hui away, and mouthed two words.

Cheng Hui immediately understood, shook her head, and sighed.

That night, as Zhou Kao had suggested, Wen Le uninstalled the recently downloaded campus broadcast app.

The echoes of Zhou Kao’s deep and gentle words still lingered in Wen Le’s ears.

Despite the unpleasant incident earlier that night, Wen Le peacefully drifted into a sweet dream.

The next day, early in the morning, Wen Le, dressed in sportswear, went downstairs, while her dormmates were still sleeping in. Zhou Kao was waiting for Wen Le downstairs.

Wen Le ran into Zhou Kao’s arms with a smile as bright as flowers. Early on a Saturday morning, there were not many people around the women’s dormitory building, so no one paid attention to the two.

Zhou Kao drove Wen Le to a taekwondo gym. Both of them changed into taekwondo uniforms, and being black belt holders, they were quite skilled.

The coach at the gym was familiar with Zhou Kao. Seeing Zhou Kao bringing a girl, he gave Zhou Kao a friendly wink and whistled.

Zhou Kao went over and playfully punched the coach. After chatting for a while, Zhou Kao asked the coach for a favor to take a few photos. Assuming it was a playful request between a couple, the coach readily agreed.

Walking to the center of the training area, Zhou Kao said, “Let’s have another match.” Wen Le smiled gently, “I won’t go easy on you.”

Seeing this, the coach, still thinking of the couple as an ordinary pair, was amazed when Wen Le delivered a fierce and precise sidekick. The coach was left dumbfounded by the fierceness and precision of her movements.

In the coach’s mind, a group of mythical creatures galloped past.

    This…

Is this the beautiful and gentle girl from just now?

    This… she’s really fucking fierce…

…No wonder, Zhou Kao brought his girlfriend here.

After an enthusiastic and intense match, both of them were sweating when they finished. Wen Le lowered her head and gently brushed a strand of hair that fell on her temple, still displaying a gentle and charming appearance.

It seemed as if the fierce and aggressive person from just now was not her. The coach couldn’t help but doubt the meaning of life.

The seemingly gentle and fragile girl was actually someone you shouldn’t mess with.

During their match, the coach had taken many photos. After the match, Zhou Kao took Wen Le’s hand, fingers interlocked, raised it in the air, signaling the coach to take another picture.

The coach silently commented that this guy was quite good at playing around. While finding the perfect angle, he took what he considered a perfect photo of the two. Wen Le glanced at their hands, each adorned with a ring.

Wen Le wore a delicate diamond ring, while Zhou Kao’s simple platinum men’s ring seemed completely unrelated at first glance. But who knows, they were actually a pair of couple rings?

The coach handed the phone back to Zhou Kao, saying, “I’ve had enough of this lovey-dovey stuff.” Zhou Kao chuckled, patted the coach’s shoulder in thanks, took the phone, and tapped on it, seemingly sending a message to someone.

Later, the two went out for a meal. During the meal, Wen Le’s phone clattered again. Wen Le glanced at Zhou Kao suspiciously, feeling that Zhou Kao might have done something.

Wen Le opened WeChat and saw a message from Cheng Hui, who seemed quite excited.

    Cheng Hui: [Image]

Wen Le opened it, and it was a dynamic post on the confession board. The caption read “Reconciliation with a handshake,” followed by pictures in a nine-grid layout.

These nine pictures were taken by the coach during their sparring in the taekwondo gym. The first eight showed different fighting poses, and the last one captured them holding hands and smiling at the camera.

As the person involved, Wen Le immediately noticed the two rings in the photo. She didn’t bother looking at the images again and went back to read Cheng Hui’s message.

After reading, she couldn’t help but blush.

Human Microscope: I really have to give it to you, only your family’s Zhou, the handsome guy, can play like this.

Human Microscope: Are you guys really fucking reconciling with a handshake?

Human Microscope: Who the heck reconciles and posts it on the confession board!

Human Microscope: Are you guys officially announcing this?! Official announcement!

Human Microscope: Don’t think no one knows the origin of those two rings!

    Human Microscope: I! Know! It!

Human Microscope: I went to search online, this is the work of a chief designer from a small and niche brand in Sweden. It means: You are my soul.

Human Microscope: You guys are really showing off your love!

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 52

    The Forum Exploded

When Wen Le came back, the dormitory was unusually quiet. Several roommates were gathered around Sun Youmei’s desk, and upon closer inspection, Sun Youmei was crying sadly.

Wen Le walked in quietly, gently closing the door. The others noticed the movement, turned to look, and saw Wen Le signalling them with her eyes.

Wen Le mouthed “What happened?”, and they shook their heads, replying by mouthing “She broke up.”

Sun Youmei had broken up with her boyfriend. A few months ago, Sun Youmei’s boyfriend, Jin Lin, had met a small internet celebrity. He often sent gifts to internet celebrity, and after Sun Youmei found out, Jin Lin promised not to contact her again. However, he couldn’t resist and continued to secretly communicate.

The internet celebrity seemed to be one of those high-tier seductresses, always undermining the relationship between the two. Recently, Jin Lin had almost no good attitude towards Sun Youmei.

Just yesterday, Sun Youmei caught Jin Lin and the internet celebrity in bed together, causing a big scene. Jin Lin, feeling humiliated, directly broke up with Sun Youmei and announced that he was together with the internet celebrity.

After her fit of anger subsided, Sun Youmei thought that Jin Lin had also spoken those words about ending the relationship in anger. Today, she went to find Jin Lin, thinking she could reconcile, but Jin Lin didn’t want to see her. He said that since they had already broken up, she shouldn’t bother him anymore. He already had another girlfriend now, and contacting his ex-girlfriend would make his current girlfriend unhappy.

Only then did Sun Youmei realise that he really didn’t want to get back together with her. Sun Youmei was emotionally devastated, crying and asking her friends, “Am I not as pretty as that internet celebrity? She looks so fake. What does she have that’s better than me? Sob, sob, sob~”

“We’ve been together for so long, and he actually broke up with me for that bitch. Sob, sob, sob~”

Sun Youmei cried in despair, and the roommates tried to comfort her. Wen Le also sat quietly beside her.

However, Wen Le’s phone kept ringing loudly. She frowned, muted her phone, and ignored it.

After a while, a call came in. It was from a senior in the student union who had a good relationship with her. Wen Le thought it might be something urgent in the student union, so she quickly answered the phone and walked out of the dormitory.

    “Hello, senior.”

The senior’s tone was a bit anxious, and upon hearing that Wen Le answered the phone, she immediately launched into a rapid series of questions, “Lele, what’s going on between you and Zhou Kao? You guys used to work together, at least sit down and talk about it. How can you just fight in public like that?”

Wen Le was stunned, “Senior, what are you talking about?”

The senior was also taken aback, “You don’t know about the BBS incident? No one around you has told you?”

Wen Le glanced back into the dormitory and whispered, “Our dormitory has a bit of a situation. Everyone hasn’t been checking their phones. What happened?”

The senior’s voice became urgent, “Oh, Lele, don’t worry about others for now. Take a look at the BBS. The video of you and Zhou Kao fighting has been posted on the forum. The BBS is exploding right now. You should check it out.”

Wen Le was startled. She and Zhou Kao fighting? That couldn’t be…

Wen Le recalled yesterday’s events, her heart skipped a beat. But she didn’t have the BBS app on her phone. She quickly downloaded it, but the internet speed was slow.

Remembering the WeChat messages from earlier, she speculated that they might be related to this incident. So, she checked her WeChat first.

Only then did she find that the WeChat icon had more than 99+ red notification dots. She entered and saw that they were all classmates she added during the joint social event, some from the Student Union, and some from the Student Council.

    – Wen Le, what’s going on between you and Zhou Kao?

    – Wen Le, why not sit down and talk about it? Why resort to violence?

    – Why make things so embarrassing?

    – Wen Le, did something happen between you and Zhou Kao?

    – Back when you and Zhou Kao danced together, I thought your relationship improved. How come it’s worse now?

    – Are you okay?

    – Did Zhou Kao do something to upset you? He’s not a bad person. Don’t hold a grudge against him.

    – Wen Le, is there a misunderstanding between you and Zhou Kao?

In addition to the colleagues from the joint event, there were also many classmates and even senior students who sent messages.

    Among them was Xu Tianhao.

Xu Tianhao: Wen Le, you and Zhou Kao…

Xu Tianhao: Did you break up? I’m sorry, that’s not what I meant. I meant, don’t be sad…

Wen Le looked at these messages, feeling overwhelmed. She didn’t have time to reply to each one, so she didn’t respond. She also noticed new friend requests with red notification dots. Upon checking, they were from strangers who somehow got her WeChat ID, and their friend request messages were filled with insults.

Wen Le closed WeChat without looking at those messages. She went back to the download page, wanting to check the progress of the school BBS app download.

Unfortunately, the internet speed seemed to be slow tonight, and it hadn’t finished downloading yet.

Feeling a bit anxious, Wen Le went back to the dormitory and asked Cheng Hui, “Can I borrow your phone? There seems to be a problem on the BBS again.”

Cheng Hui, upon hearing this, pointed at Wen Le, “You? Again?”

Wen Le nodded with a somewhat urgent expression, “It seems… it’s a bit serious.”

Cheng Hui quickly took out her phone and opened the campus bulletin app. The phone was a bit slow, and while waiting, Cheng Hui asked Wen Le, “What did you do again?”

Wen Le looked around; Xiao Fan and Man Qingxuan were both staring at her, while Sun Youmei was still immersed in her own world, unable to extricate herself. Wen Le whispered, “I fought with Zhou Kao.”

Cheng Hui was shocked, “What did you do?”

Xiao Fan and Man Qingxuan had their mouths wide open, eyes widened, “What!”

Wen Le didn’t say anything more and innocently looked at the three.

At this moment, Cheng Hui’s phone finally entered the main page of the campus BBS forum. She realised that it wasn’t Cheng Hui’s phone lagging; the entire campus forum had crashed due to excessive traffic.

Cheng Hui sighed, “Look at how this app lags. This is the power of you two, the top figures at A University.”

Wen Le covered her face in embarrassment, sincerely accepting the criticism.

After about half a minute of waiting, they finally entered the post page. There were already over 500 comments:

    # Campus Heartthrob and Goddess Fight in the Parking Lot!

1st comment: My goodness! My three views are shattered. Is this really Wen Le?

2nd comment: What kind of hatred caused such a fierce fight between them?

3rd comment: My goodness, so the gentle Wen Le we see all the time is just a front…

4th comment: Honestly, why do I find this a bit cool? They must have learned martial arts, like taekwondo or something, just like in the movies…

    5th comment: I also think… it’s a bit cool.

6th comment: This really destroys the three views! The male and female idol actually had a physical fight in public! Isn’t this just too low class! Turning from a fan to a hater.

7th comment: No matter what the problem is, a guy who fights with a girl has no manners. Yuck~ He actually hit a woman! I’m blacklisting ZK for life.

8th comment: I really didn’t expect people who brawl in public to appear at our school. What’s even more ridiculous is how many posts on the BBS are praising these two. Haha, it’s really funny.

9th comment: Please, 7th commenter, watch again carefully, okay? Zhou Kao has been retreating the entire time; he didn’t attack her at all! Look carefully! Your goddess has been the one persistently attacking!

10th comment: Agreed. Clearly, it’s Wen Le who has been continuously attacking. The campus heartthrob doesn’t want to get entangled with this crazy woman; it’s your goddess going mad!

11th comment: It’s not that serious, right? I feel like they were just sparring. Look, both of them obviously know taekwondo. It’s different from a regular fight, isn’t it?

523rd comment: Honestly, even though I find these two annoying on the forum every day, sometimes the gossip they generate is truly entertaining hahaha

524th comment: Haha! The one above is right. Although these two always flood the BBS, it wouldn’t be as exciting without them.

525th comment: Oh, it’s so laggy. The hype is really high this time.

526th comment: My study-focused senior didn’t know these two before, but tonight, she found out about those two handsome guys and a beautiful girl who fought fiercely!

While they were reading the posts, another hundred comments were added.

656th comment: Although… I have to say, a girl who knows taekwondo is really cool!

657th comment: Not bad, although these two have numerous flaws, they are indeed… full of talents.

658th comment: CP fans are crying. I still remember their beautiful dance not long ago. How long has it been, and now they fought like this! Ah, ah, ah, ah! My mentality is collapsing!

659l: Sob, sob, sob~ CP fans are really crying. How can I deceive myself now? How can I ship this CP?

The three finished reading the forum and looked at Wen Le in astonishment. They even subconsciously took a step back, seemingly too shocked. The three lowered their heads to look at their phones again and then raised their heads to look at Wen Le, still finding it hard to believe, repeating this action.

Man Qingxuan still felt very magical, shocked, “You! Is this really you?”

Xiao Fan imitated the fighting posture of Wen Le in the video, gesturing a bit, and sighed, “Wow~ so cool!”

Cheng Hui seemed to be calmer, “You actually know taekwondo?”

Cheng Hui pulled Wen Le’s wrist toward the corridor, “Come on, show me a move.”

At these words, Xiao Fan and Man Qingxuan hurriedly followed, excitedly shouting, “Ah, ah, ah! I want to see it too!”

When Wen Le stood in the corridor, she still looked confused. She couldn’t imagine that her quirky roommates would react like this. The three of them, lined up in a row, stared at Wen Le with burning eyes, a strange gleam shining in their eyes.

    “Go!”

    “Go for it!”

“Ah, ah, ah! Looking forward to it.”

Wen Le felt embarrassed to the extreme, so she put on a brave face and performed a set of moves that were not entirely taekwondo. Her training was diverse, and she just did something to look good. In the end, she finished with a spinning kick, which was cool and imposing.

The three applauded excitedly, and Wen Le felt so embarrassed that her face turned red. “That’s enough, that’s enough. Go back quickly!”

The opening of the next-door dormitory door could already be heard. So, the four quickly ran back to their room like a wisp of smoke.

Cheng Hui closed the door. “So why did you fight with Zhou Kao?”

Wen Le said, “It’s just a simple sparring. Do you believe me?”

The three looked at Wen Le in silence. “Look, you two caused such a commotion. Now the entire BBS knows that the A University campus heartthrob and the popular goddess had a big fight. In no time, the neighbouring school will probably know too.”

“You two can’t be more restrained, posting hot topics on the forum every day.”

Wen Le said, “Is it our fault? We didn’t want this to happen.”

“If it were someone else, even if they fought more, it might not become a hot topic on the forum…”

Xiao Fan and Man Qingxuan asked, “What’s going on with you and Zhou Kao? We can’t figure out your relationship.”

Wen Le glanced at the sadly crying Sun Youmei and hesitated for a moment, thinking that it might not be good to keep hiding it repeatedly, but there was also a sad Sun Youmei here.

So, Wen Le signaled Cheng Hui with her eyes. The two covered Bao Xiaofan and Man Qingxuan’s mouths, and then Wen Le mouthed, “We got together.”

Xiao Fan and Man Qingxuan’s eyeballs were about to pop out. As expected, they wanted to scream but were held tightly by Wen Le and Cheng Hui, causing their faces to turn red, and their eyes rolled back.

After a while, Man Qingxuan finally reacted and whispered, “Isn’t your couple’s quarrel a little too sensational…”

Wen Le whispered, “We didn’t quarrel.”

Cheng Hui patted Man Qingxuan’s head, “Is this the current problem? You’re not grasping the key issue again.”

Man Qingxuan asked, “What’s the key issue?”

Cheng Hui patted Man Qingxuan’s head and said, “Sis, look at how harshly they’re criticising them on the forum. What do you think the key issue is now?”

“The crucial thing now is to find a way to clarify and salvage our image, isn’t it?”

Cheng Hui asked in a hushed tone again, “Your Mr. Zhou Kao doesn’t know yet, does he?”

  • I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 51

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 51

    Landlady Is Here!

Zhou Kao led Wen Le to the office.

He worked on some documents at his desk, while Wen Le enjoyed some snacks. Afterward, she went to the lounge, laid on Zhou Kao’s bed, and played with her phone.

As Wen Le lay on the bed, her two pairs of straight and slender legs were crossed, and her snow-white toes were round and tender.

When Zhou Kao finished reviewing the documents and entered the lounge, he saw this picturesque scene.

Zhou Kao couldn’t help but tighten his throat and stepped inside.

Wen Le was engrossed in watching a drama, when she felt the other end of the bed sinking as Zhou Kao sat down at the edge of the bed, one hand over her waist, leaning down to see her phone.

The drama was at an exciting moment, and Wen Le turned her head, only to see Zhou Kao sitting on the bed, one hand supporting himself on the bed, leaning down to look at her phone intently. Looking at him, Wen Le revealed an indulgent smile.

In the drama, the male lead pinned the female lead against the wall near her home’s entrance. At this moment, the overhead light suddenly came on, illuminating the handsome silhouette of the male lead and the almost glass-like light-colored pupils of the female lead.

Music started playing, and the male lead lowered his head, while the female lead’s hands curled in front of her chest, looking confused, staring into the male lead’s eyes as if longing for something.

The sound of a heartbeat came through the headphones.

At this moment, one of Wen Le’s earphones was taken off.

Wen Le stared at the screen, reaching out to fumble for a hit, missing it and not bothering anymore.

As the two characters in the TV show got closer, the heartbeat sound became faster and faster. Wen Le’s smile grew larger.

The male lead spoke in a deep voice, reciting that famous line, then lowered his head to kiss the female lead.

Wen Le was so thrilled by the sweet scene that her heart raced. Excited, she covered her mouth, letting out a soft scream.

Ah ah ah! It’s too sweet.

Wen Le, thrilled and unable to contain herself, suddenly felt a force lifting her, and she fell backward on the bed.

Wen Le, who was indulging the sight of her favourite couple being affectionate, was suddenly interrupted and was a bit confused.

Then, everything went dark in front of Wen Le, as Zhou Kao kissed her.

Zhou Kao’s kiss was passionate, with half of his body pressing down on Wen Le.

Wen Le, still excited and with a heart beating too fast, was kissed until she felt dizzy. There was a sense of not knowing when and where she was.

Her last memory was stuck on the scene where the female lead was kissed by the male lead, and now she was the one being kissed. This seamless immersion made Wen Le’s heartbeat rapidly climb. She was kissed until she felt tingly and numb, and in response, she reached out to hold Zhou Kao’s neck, deepening the kiss with him.

Zhou Kao held her head with one hand and lingered on her leg with the other, while Wen Le had one hand on Zhou Kao’s back and lifted Zhou Kao’s T-shirt with the other. Both of them were getting aroused, making this kiss even more unstoppable.

After an unknown amount of time, the two finally stopped, slowly calming their breaths. The drama had finished playing its end credits, and the next episode had started automatically.

Wen Le reacted and fumbled for her phone on the top of her head. After glancing at it, she thought back to the exciting scene that she was watching before she was interrupted by Zhou Kao.

Wen Le glared at Zhou Kao and pushed him away.

Zhou Kao held Wen Le’s hand, his voice still somewhat hoarse, “What’s wrong? You kissed me, and now after kissing you act like you don’t know me.”

Wen Le withdrew her hand, “Get off, don’t disturb me from watching the drama.”

Zhou Kao sighed, “You change your mind faster than turning pages. Who was kissing so passionately just now?”

Wen Le covered Zhou Kao’s mouth and said disdainfully, “Can you not make trouble? It’s non-stop every day.”

Zhou Kao, with his mouth covered by Wen Le, couldn’t speak but looked at her with an expression of ‘You stir trouble first then abandon me ruthlessly.’

Wen Le remained unmoved, turned around, lay on the bed, and rolled back to the previous episode. “Do whatever you want. Wait until I finish this episode.”

Zhou Kao, unwilling, pinched Wen Le’s chin and turned her face towards him. “Are you blind? Is the male lead better looking than me?”

Wen Le carefully examined him; it seemed not, but she didn’t say anything. She couldn’t let this guy’s arrogance grow.

Seeing this, Zhou Kao chuckled, “Then why don’t you quickly watch me?”

Wen Le showed a troubled expression, “But you’re too flirty. It annoys me when I see it.”

Zhou Kao’s face darkened, pretending to kiss her, “Say that again! Say it again!”

Wen Le quickly dodged with a smile, “You’re a flirt! Just too flirty!”

After teasing each other for a while, Zhou Kao sat up from the bed, pulling Wen Le up and leaning her against him. “Are you hungry? Let’s go grab a bite?”

Wen Le replied, “Not really. Just had some desserts. You finish your work first.”

Zhou Kao rubbed Wen Le’s nose, “Why do you like those desserts? They’re too sweet.”

Wen Le said, “I just like them. There’s no particular reason.”

Talking about desserts, something flashed in Wen Le’s mind. She seemed to finally understand why she found the address on the last dessert order familiar. She quickly checked her phone’s notes, and the address matched the one on the delivery order exactly, minus the name and number of any company or floor.

Wen Le was stunned, quickly showing Zhou Kao the two addresses in her phone’s notes, “I…This building…”

Zhou Kao found both addresses in the notes somewhat familiar. The first address… seemed to be near his old house, and the second was the address of this building.

Wen Le said, “…This building seems to be mine…”

Her expression looked like she was in a dream. “I seem to be… your landlord.”

    Zhou Kao was stunned—his… landlord?

Suddenly, Zhou Kao remembered his speculation that Wen Le might be from the Wen family. If this building belonged to the Wen family, and the head of the Wen family was Wen Tianqi, then Wen Le was the daughter of the landlord…

And now…oh not the daughter of the landlord, she’s the landlord of the building…

So Wen Le was indeed a child of the Wen family. And the Wen Tianqi that Wen Le said was the name of her father, was the very same Wen Tianqi of the head of the Wen family.

Zhou Kao sighed. Wasn’t it a bit too coincidental? The first time he met Wen Le was clearly in such a remote faraway village.

Zhou Kao sighed again. “Have you realised? This is basically like a marriage pre-destined by fate.”

Wen Le laughed, “Why do you say that?”

Zhou Kao said, “The Wen family left the capital more than ten years ago, and no one knows where Elder Wen* went. Only your father, representing the Wen family, operated in S City, Gangcheng, and overseas. So everyone thought your family had emigrated and joined the overseas branch of the Wen family.”

“No one would have thought that your grandfather was hiding with you in the mountains. That remote village was a place I would never have visited in my entire life. However, in my first year of high school, my father encountered strong political opponents and got transferred to that town for poverty alleviation work, but in reality, he was subtly expelled from that circle.”

“Because of that, I met you, something that was never supposed to happen.”

Wen Le hugged Zhou Kao and said, “So even though we missed out on three years, it’s still romantic.”

Zhou Kao kissed Wen Le on her forehead. “We won’t miss each other anymore.”

Wen Le felt sweet in her heart.

Zhou Kao continued, “Because now you’ve become my landlady.”

    Wen Le: …

Wen Le punched Zhou Kao in the chest. “Stop talking nonsense… I’ll raise your rent!”

Wen Le laughed after saying that.

Zhou Kao covered his chest, laughing. “Aren’t you my landlady? You’re clearly…”

Wen Le raised her fist threateningly, and Zhou Kao stopped talking.

Wen Le said, “Is the Wen family you mentioned the Wen family of the Tianyin Group?”

Zhou Kao looked at Wen Le with some suspicion. “Isn’t the Tianyin Group your family’s business? You actually don’t know?”

Wen Le replied: “Actually, I think you probably know more about my family than I do.”

Zhou Kao raised his eyebrows slightly, showing a surprised expression.

Wen Le said, “I also don’t know why our family lives in the mountains. But when I was a child, I really thought our family was poor. Grandpa and Dad used to create an impression that we were poor.”

As Wen Le spoke, she remembered the past. She held Zhou Kao’s hand, absentmindedly playing with his fingers while recalling. She continued, “As I grew up, they slowly started revealing the true situation of our family to me. But I was unwilling to look and accept it. Many times, they intentionally exposed themselves, and I pretended not to see. They would help me cover it up when they saw I was unwilling to accept it, but I knew they were still waiting for me to accept it.”

Wen Le’s voice became somewhat melancholic. “Actually, I didn’t accept it not just as an act of pique, but maybe because my personality is too stubborn.”

Zhou Kao gently touched Wen Le’s head, his eyes full of affection.

Wen Le moved forward a bit, leaning against Zhou Kao’s chest, and spoke words from her heart that she had never told anyone before.

“To be honest, I’m somewhat disappointed. I have shown extraordinary ambition and competitiveness since I was a child, like a crazy person with a spring winding inside. When I was little, I knew our family was very poor, so I worked hard in my studies, hoping that one day I could provide a better life for my grandparents. I wanted to lead our family towards a better direction through my efforts.”

“I always thought that as long as I worked hard, I could achieve everything.”

“But things have changed now. When I realized that what our family originally possessed might be something I couldn’t achieve even if I worked hard for a lifetime, I didn’t feel happy. On the contrary, I found that my mindset could completely collapse.”

“I felt like my efforts were a joke. I even lost the belief and motivation I had always had. It’s like a pile of sand that has solidified into a shape due to pressure. When the pressure is gone, what will it become? It will turn into a shapeless mud.”

“I’m afraid that without ambition and motivation, would I still be Wen Le?”

Zhou Kao gently touched Wen Le’s head, filled with love. This was Wen Le—unique and special. Even if she didn’t have this beautiful appearance, she would still shine like a star, like a diamond.

He wanted to give her the whole world, but she would proudly say, “I can get it myself.”

Zhou Kao kissed Wen Le’s forehead again, unable to control his emotions. “Why did you accept it in the end?”

Wen Le sighed, “I had to accept it, didn’t I? Even if I drag it out, it won’t change the reality.”

    “And also…”

Wen Le poked Zhou Kao’s chest and said angrily, “Now that I’m with you, do you even know the conditions of your family?”

“Having a relationship with someone from a wealthy family but refusing to admit that you’re from a wealthy family—does that make sense?”

“So, I said I don’t want a boyfriend from a wealthy family. I want to support a xiao xian rou*.”

Zhou Kao’s face turned black, and then he chuckled, “Look, I’m quite fair. I can be your little white face.”

Wen Le, still in a huff, poked Zhou Kao’s chest again. “Little white face can be kept in abundance, can you split yourself into many people?”

This time, Zhou Kao couldn’t keep the smile on his face. He gritted his teeth, “Wen Le! You’ve become bold! You dare ask for a whole pile of boy toys to play with!”

As they spoke, Zhou Kao playfully tackled Wen Le, pretending to pull her clothes. Wen Le covered Zhou Kao’s hand and laughed. Seeing her reaction, Zhou Kao began tickling her, making Wen Le laugh until tears welled up in her eyes. She pleaded, “Okay, okay, I only want Zhou Kao. Zhou Kao, I love you the most.”

Hearing this, Zhou Kao let go of Wen Le, and they lay side by side on the bed. “So, when you heard that the person in control of Tianyin Group is Wen Tianqi, how did you deceive yourself?”

Wen Le smiled and said, “I just deceived myself by saying, ‘What a coincidence, my dad’s name is also Wen Tianqi.’”

Zhou Kao asked, “What about your grandfather’s articles in the elementary school Chinese textbooks? Didn’t that raise any suspicions?”

Wen Le replied, “But my grandfather’s pen name isn’t Wen Bingqiu.”

“You know I’m a science major, and I hate memorizing. The author I hated the most when I was a kid was Mr. Yu Shi. I used to wonder why there was such an annoying old man in the world who made me memorize his essays every day. I didn’t like him at all, but almost every Chinese textbook had his writings”

Zhou Kao looked at Wen Le with a smile, and Wen Le continued, “Once, when I was studying at home and couldn’t get through it, I muttered and cursed Mr. Yu Shi, calling him ‘annoying ghost,’ ‘big villain,’ and so on. Then my grandfather overheard me.”

Zhou Kao burst into laughter without reservation.

Wen Le laughed along with him. “My grandfather was so angry that he grabbed a book, knocked my head, scolded me, called me stupid, said I didn’t appreciate it, said I didn’t respect my elders, and then forced me to memorize the entire collection of Yu Shi’s works.”

Wen Le laughed uncontrollably. “Later, I found out that Yu Shi was a pen name, and his real name was Wen Bingqiu.”

“That’s when I knew our family wasn’t poor anymore. But I still didn’t know we were so rich. I thought of my grandfather as a dedicated old man who devoted himself to writing but lived in poverty.”

“Then the impoverished old man gave me a courtyard house in my senior year of high school.”

Zhou Kao chuckled, “Is that the same house mentioned in the memo just now?”

    Wen Le nodded.

Zhou Kao said, “The house behind it is my home.”

Wen Le turned to look at Zhou Kao. “So, if our family hadn’t moved out of Beijing, maybe we would still have been childhood sweethearts.”

Zhou Kao said, “Even if we had moved out of Beijing, you still wouldn’t have escaped from my grasp.”

    Wen Le remarked, “Smooth talker.”

Suddenly, Zhou Kao thought of something and asked, “So, you didn’t apply to the literature department, is it because of your grandfather?”

Wen Le glanced at Zhou Kao, hesitated for a moment, and then nodded. When she initially applied for a finance major, her grandfather, grandmother, and father all thought it was because she couldn’t get into the literature department due to her science background. In reality, she had never wanted to apply to the literature department, even though she had won awards for her writing. Wen Le never had the desire to study literature.

Wen Le was surprised that Zhou Kao could guess her thoughts. Not applying to the literature department was indeed because of her grandfather.

Wen Le explained that she knew she could never reach the heights of her grandfather’s achievements in writing. She didn’t like it when people referred to her as Mr. Yu Shi’s granddaughter.

Zhou Kao reassured her, “Your own capabilities are already outstanding enough.”

However, Wen Le expressed her concern about not being able to match her grandfather’s level of focus.

“The world doesn’t know that ever since moving to the mountains for over a decade, Grandpa had isolated himself from the outside world, solely dedicating that time to polishing a single book.”

Zhou Kao sighed, acknowledging that Mr. Yu Shi’s current status and achievements were not without reason.

“Actually, I really admire my grandma, she is probably the family’s spiritual pillar, supporting Grandpa’s isolated lifestyle for over a decade while still maintaining a loving relationship.”

Zhou Kao kissed Wen Le, “We can have that too. My landlady can also have a bit more confidence in me.”

He then lowered his head, wanting to kiss her. Before they could continue, a light cough interrupted them.

Startled, Wen Le quickly pushed Zhou Kao away and they both turned to see Lu Bohan standing at the door. Awkwardly, he knocked on the door frame and explained, “I saw that the lounge room door was open and thought you were resting.”

Zhou Kao greeted Lu Bohan, introducing him as “Bohan ge.”

Then pulling Wen Le along to stand up, he briefly introduced Wen Le: “This is Bohan ge.”

“Bohan ge, this is the landlady…cough…Wen Le, my girlfriend.”

Lu Bohan raised an eyebrow, processing the information, and noted the name “Wen”, causing him to wonder if it was as he suspected.

After a short conversation, Zhou Kao and Wen Le went for lunch, and afterward, Zhou Kao drove Wen Le back to school. It was around 2:40 PM, and Wen Le needed to register at the referee’s office before her matches at 3:00 PM and 4:00 PM.

Before Wen Le got out of the car, Zhou Kao kissed her forehead.

“The competition can be draining, do you want any snacks? I’ll go get them for you.”

After thinking, he added, “Should I buy…enough for 6 people?”

Wen Le guessed that he must want to buy for the whole dormitory, so she replied “Just a four-person portion will do.”

Zhou Kao nodded, didn’t ask why, and asked: “What do you want to eat?”

Wen Le thought for a moment and said, “Just milk tea, and snacks from Z House – duck intestines, duck neck, and chicken feet.”

Around 2:40 PM, Zhou Kao delivered the snacks to Wen Le. She handed them to Cheng Hui and instructed her to share them with Bao Xiaofan, Man Qingxuan, and the others. Cheng Hui rushed her, saying they could discuss everything after the competition.

First, Wen Le had the semifinals, and she effortlessly secured the first position.

Next was the finals, where she once again claimed the top spot. Wen Le’s graceful figure, long legs, and her captivating, wild yet charming aura won the admiration of many students.

The atmosphere in the sports field was enchanting, making everyone forget their worries and unite in the excitement of the competition. Wen Le’s genuine and carefree smile added to the magic, making people forget everything and join together to celebrate each other’s victories and losses.

Wen Le returned with a first-place finish, and the cheers from the audience filled the air. A few enthusiastic female students rushed to hug Wen Le, and the forum buzzed with discussions. Wen Le’s face bore a sincere and carefree smile, a departure from the superficial smiles she used to wear. It seemed as if her eyes held stars, radiating a dazzling brilliance that inspired people to give their all just to preserve that smile.

With sweat beads on her forehead, Wen Le walked back to her spot, took a big sip of water, and relished the cheers from the crowd. The laughter, shouts, and overall lively atmosphere created a sense of unity among the students.

Wen Le, still sweating, sat down next to Cheng Hui, who handed over the snacks Zhou Kao had brought.

Wen Le looked at the snacks, thought for a moment, and asked for a specific portion. Cheng Hui, without saying a word, took out the snacks from her clothes and handed them to Bao Xiaofan and Man Qingxuan.

The two friends were overjoyed, exclaiming, “Where did you get these? You can’t order them through delivery!” Cheng Hui just smiled faintly, not offering any explanation.

With the conclusion of the afternoon sports event, everyone felt a lingering sense of excitement.

The confession wall was constantly updated throughout the evening, and the discussions on BBS showed no signs of slowing down.

Around 8:00 PM, a sensational post appeared at the top of the forum.
