  • I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 27

    The Red Long Skirt

On Thursday afternoon, the four roommates in Room 307 had no classes in the last 2 periods, so they made plans to watch the latest release, “Resident Evil 7: Biohazard.” They also decided to grab some barbecue and do a little bit of shopping.

Although all four roommates in Room 307 came from small towns except for Bao Xiaofan and Sun Youmei, their families were not financially struggling.

Bao Xiaofan’s family owned two properties in Beijing, and they were well-off, so she had some disposable income.

Man Qingxuan’s parents were both teachers, and she also had a part-time job, which earned her some pocket money.

Cheng Hui’s parents ran a small factory, and she also occasionally took on some part-time work.

As for Wen Le, she had achieved financial independence since the second half of her freshman year. She often submitted articles online, ranging from magazine pieces to film and music reviews, public posts, advertisements, and various other miscellaneous writing.

Sometimes it was out of interest, and sometimes it was to hone her writing skills. Although Wen Le did not major in literature, she had been writing almost non-stop under her grandfather’s influence.

Now, Wen Le had gained some reputation in her circle, and she had saved up a considerable amount of money, aside from what she had spent.

This sum of money might not be considered much for others, but for Wen Le, even if she stopped doing part-time jobs, it would be enough to get her through university with her spending habits.

None of the four roommates had financial pressures, and their spending habits and values were similar, so they could hang out together.

The movie started at 8 p.m., and they finished dinner by 7 p.m.

Cheng Hui paid the bill and waved her hand, “Let’s go! Time to shop!”

    “Let’s go, let’s go!”

    “Yo-yo-yo!”

“Time to shop, time to shop!”

Wen Le said, “Wait for me to touch up my lipstick!”

Shopping often led to impulse buying, especially when encountering discounts, and once they found something they liked, nothing could stop them from making a purchase… Except for an empty wallet and maxed-out credit cards.

Even though they knew this about each other, every time they went shopping, the other three roommates still placed high hopes on Cheng Hui.

Man Qingxuan held Cheng Hui’s hand solemnly and said, “Dorm leader, you must stop me. If it’s over 200 yuan, just drag me away.”

Cheng Hui rolled her eyes, “Dream on. I don’t think I can drag you away even if I had a tractor.”

Bao Xiaofan also held Cheng Hui’s hand and earnestly entrusted her, “Dorm leader, I just received my allowance today. Just wake me up from my trance if it exceeds 250RMB!”

Cheng Hui rolled her eyes and looked at Wen Le, “What about you?”

Wen Le replied, “Me? I’m quite rational in my spending.”

Cheng Hui said, “Haven’t you heard about the big discounts tonight? Be a bit more realistic, okay?”

Wen Le chuckled and touched her nose, “Alright, then you can hold me back and just let me buy one item.”

So, half an hour later, the four of them had two bags each and began to playfully blame each other.

Man Qingxuan looked at her two shopping bags with sorrow, “Dorm leader, you let me down with my expectations about you.”

Bao Xiaofan said, “You promised to stop us, but you bought the most!”

Wen Le sighed, “I am the epitome of rationality with just one shopping bag.”

Wen Le had one of Cheng Hui’s shopping bags, and she only had one herself. Cheng Hui bought three… T-shirts.

Cheng Hui said, “Oh, my three items didn’t even reach the price of your one tote bag. You’re just two dollars short of breaking the four-figure barrier. Congratulations, classmate Wen Le.”

Wen Le felt the pain, “It’s all because of you telling me it was on sale.”

As they were playfully blaming each other, they arrived in front of a boutique brand store.

Through the glass display, they could see a beautiful red pencil skirt on the model. Wen Le stopped in her tracks as she looked at the skirt, it reminded her of the red skirt she had cut into a high slit before and which resembled this one.

Clearly, her roommates also noticed this. Bao Xiaofan said, “This skirt looks similar to the one you ruined before.”

Wen Le replied, “What do you mean ‘ruined’? Isn’t a high slit more sexy?”

Cheng Hui glanced at the price, “Damn, 5999, six thousand for just a skirt?”

Cheng Hui pulled Wen Le away, “I still think you looked better in that torn slit.”

Wen Le smiled and followed after Cheng Hui, “I think so too.”

One of the seniors that Zhou Kao was close to had his project approved, so he invited a group of friends to gather for a meal. As Zhou Kao had a good relationship with this senior and had previously helped him a little, he was also invited.

It was rather noisy inside the restaurant, so Zhou Kao stepped outside to take a call. As he spoke, he spotted a familiar figure downstairs.

The square was like most shopping malls, with a huge central atrium on the ground floor that allowed a clear view up to the top floor through transparent glass. The square was open from the second floor to the top floor, with glass and railings providing safety barriers between each level.

Zhou Kao was on the fifth floor, and as soon as he stepped out of the restaurant, he could see the scene downstairs through the half-height glass barrier. At that moment, directly opposite on the fourth floor, four girls were standing in front of a shop, pointing and laughing at a red skirt.

Despite being separated by a floor and most of the square, Zhou Kao immediately recognized the familiar figure. The girl wearing a white shirt and a light yellow floral long skirt was Wen Le.

Today, she had her hair tied in a low ponytail, with a strand of hair gently falling down her face, making her look extremely gentle.

The four girls were joking and laughing while looking at the red skirt inside the glass cabinet. Seeing that skirt, Zhou Kao couldn’t help but recall that night.

It was the night when Wen Le hurt her ankle after being pushed by Su Zhenzhen. When she returned from the infirmary, she borrowed scissors from the school doctor to cut open the long skirt on her for convenience.

Zhou Kao hung up the phone, and in his mind, he seemed to see that red skirt that Wen Le had cut open and her beautiful, snow-white legs wrapped around his waist that night.

Zhou Kao’s breath paused, and his eyes gradually deepened.

The girls hadn’t noticed Zhou Kao. They chatted and laughed as they took the escalator between floors and went up to the sixth floor, which was where the cinema was located.

Zhou Kao came out to make a call but stayed outside for a long time. His classmates from inside found him gazing absentmindedly at something across and teased, “What are you daydreaming about? Come back in?”

Zhou Kao snapped back to reality, nodded, and followed them inside. However, as he reached the entrance, his footsteps suddenly stopped as if he had remembered something. “You go in first. I need to go out for a bit, and I’ll be back soon,” he said.

Without waiting for the guy to reply, Zhou Kao patted his arm and left.

The guy didn’t understand what was going on, shrugged, and returned to the private room.

Zhou Kao didn’t know what had gotten into him. He followed the escalator down to the fourth floor and stood in front of that shop without even knowing what he intended to do.

At a glance, Zhou Kao saw that red skirt, and images of Wen Le wearing that red skirt involuntarily flashed in his mind.

It would suit her very well.

Zhou Kao walked into the store.

The sales assistant heard footsteps and turned around, only to be taken aback.

It was a tall handsome young man with long legs –  a strikingly attractive super handsome guy.

The sales assistant was momentarily stunned by his looks and was slow to react. The assistant manager, who was observing the situation, immediately approached with a beaming smile.

The sales assistant regretted not taking the chance to strike up a conversation with the handsome guy.

She had seen celebrities promoting for the mall before, and they were well-known for their good looks in the entertainment industry. But compared to the person in front of them, even those celebrities would pale in comparison.

The assistant manager approached with a big smile, “Hello, how may I assist you?”

Zhou Kao didn’t say anything, his eyes were fixed on the model in the display window.

As the manager spoke, she secretly observed Zhou Kao.

This place was close to several universities, and students often came here. Zhou Kao looked so young that the assistant manager could almost instantly tell he was a student.

They were a luxury brand, and the prices were not affordable for the average student. Of course, there were many students with wealthy backgrounds, dressed in designer clothing, so buying from this luxury brand was nothing to them.

    But…

The assistant manager sized up this young man.

His appearance and physique were excellent, and although his clothes appeared simple and didn’t reveal any brands, the fabric seemed to be of top quality, making it difficult to judge.

Seeing Zhou Kao look at that skirt, the assistant manager struck up a conversation, “Are you buying it for your girlfriend? This is a limited edition from our new collection this season. Your taste is really good.”

Zhou Kao didn’t say anything; he absentmindedly fiddled with his phone, seemingly lost in thought.

The assistant manager subconsciously looked at Zhou Kao’s hand and noticed the watch on his wrist, which seemed to cost at least six figures.

The assistant manager raised an eyebrow, impressed.

Continuing the friendly conversation, the assistant manager asked, “What size does your girlfriend wear?”

Upon hearing the word “girlfriend,” Zhou Kao’s eyelashes flickered, but he didn’t say anything. How could he know her size? He could only estimate that Wen Le’s figure was similar to that of the model.

“Let’s go with this one,” Zhou Kao said.

The assistant manager replied, “If your girlfriend’s figure is similar to the model, then it should be the small size.”

Zhou Kao nodded and said, “Wrap it up please.”

The assistant manager asked, “The total is 5999. How would you like to pay?”

Zhou Kao swiped his card, and as he carried the women’s clothing back to the restaurant’s private room, he couldn’t help but think that he might be acting irrationally or under some kind of enchantment.

TN: Oooo our male lead is finally flaunting his rich background!

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 50

    Ah?

Ye An’s mind had been in turmoil, and when she heard his sudden question, she was taken aback.

Immediately, an expression of speechlessness appeared on her face, and the way she looked at him was as if she were gazing at an idiot.

We’ve only done it recently; how could I possibly be pregnant so soon?

Are you using a rocket while others are just driving a regular car?*

TN – This phrase is a colloquial expression in Chinese that is used to emphasize the speed or intensity of someone’s actions or progress. It’s often used metaphorically to convey the idea that someone is progressing or achieving something much faster or more dramatically than others.

    Moreover, didn’t you use protection?

    “…….”

Soon after, Xie Shuo also reacted. His usually composed face showed a rare trace of unease. He turned away and wearily pinched his nose bridge once again.

Ye An couldn’t help but mock inwardly: With this level of intelligence, he would’ve fallen into the depths of the Mariana Trench. To think he still wanted to have a child!

Seeing him continuously pinching his nose bridge, she couldn’t help asking, “Is the company’s situation really serious?”

Xie Shuo withdrew his hand and said insipidly, “I have things under control; no need to worry.”

Thinking about the mess she had caused, a sense of guilt welled up in Ye An’s heart. Looking at him, she asked with concern, “Does your head hurt today? Want me to give you a massage?”

Going along with the flow, Xie Shuo responded with a simple, “En.”

Leaving his embrace, Ye An sat down beside him and reached out to support his shoulder.

Lying back with his head resting on her lap, Xie Shuo closed his eyes.

The soft light gently illuminated, outlining his handsome features. With her fair fingertips, Ye An began to massage his temples in a gentle and soothing manner.

    …….

The next day, the sky was overcast with dark clouds gathering.

Just as Ye An was worried about the situation at the company, Xie Baiyan suddenly fell ill again.

The illness came on aggressively, catching everyone off guard. Ye An was deeply worried and hurriedly accompanied him to the hospital.

Xie Shuo also came along, but he had to tend to matters at the company, so he didn’t stay for long before leaving.

This time, Xie Baiyan’s illness took a turn for the worse. Ye An stayed by his bedside, her heart heavy with worry.

The next day, Ye An stayed at the hospital until around three or four in the afternoon before returning home.

When she arrived home, she found that Xie Yuran and Zhong Fu had also come over. They were in the study discussing matters with Xie Shuo.

Reckoning that they were discussing tomorrow’s board meeting, Ye An did not disturb them and waited until the two of them left before bringing in some tea.

When she entered, she found Xie Shuo sitting at his desk, propping his forehead with his hands, lost in thought.

Ye An walked to the desk, placing down a mahogany carved tray. Just as she was about to hand him the tea, he unexpectedly reached out and picked up the teacup himself, his movements precise and accurate.

    “……”

Ye An was momentarily taken aback.

Immersed in his thoughts, Xie Shuo was completely unaware of anything amiss as he took a sip of tea.

His phone placed at the corner of the desk suddenly rang. He reached out and answered the call. Listening for a while, he frowned and said, “I’ll be there soon.”

After that, he got up and strode out of the study, heading toward the bedroom.

Ye An remained in a daze, and for a moment, she even thought she might have seen it incorrectly, wondering if she was experiencing a hallucination.

Her mind was in chaos as she followed him into the bedroom, watching as he entered the walk-in closet and took a piece of clothing.

Just as he was about to take off the clothing, a sudden realization seemed to dawn on Xie Shuo, causing him to freeze in his tracks.

    The air became quiet.

He turned around slowly and met Ye An’s bewildered expression. She didn’t say anything and just stood there, staring at him.

Seeing her like this, Xie Shuo knew that he couldn’t keep hiding it, and he had no intention of hiding it from her anymore after today anyway.

He hung the clothing back and waited for her to speak up and question him.

Ye An stared at his eyes for a while before asking dazedly, “You can see?”

Her voice was feeble, as if afraid that any sudden movement might shatter this dream.

Xie Shuo looked back at her and responded with a soft “En,” saying, “I had planned to tell you tonight…”

Without waiting for him to finish explaining, Ye An repeated once again, “You really… can see now?”

Her voice suddenly choked, and tears welled up in her eyes.

Soon, tears fell down her face, leaving paths across her snow-white cheeks.

    Xie Shuo was taken aback.

He had anticipated various reactions from her once she found out everything, such as anger, silent treatment, or even joy, but he had never expected it to be like this.

Standing just a step away, she gazed at him, tears flowing as if a dam had burst, continuously falling down.

Since they got married, Xie Shuo had never seen her cry like this. Even when she had a quarrel with her mom before, she had only shown a slight hint of grievance, so he was a bit taken aback by her current reaction.

“Why are you crying,” he asked.

Ye An didn’t answer, wiping her tears away from the corner of her eyes and saying with a tear-stained smile, “I just knew you would get better…”

She cried for a while, then smiled as if she was even more emotional than him.

A blurry image suddenly flashed through Xie Shuo’s mind… a young girl with a pale face, crying with tears like raindrops on pear blossoms.

A sense of familiarity surged up again, and he was briefly taken aback before asking, “Have we met somewhere before?”

Upon hearing this, Ye An’s expression froze for a moment, and her movements also paused.

She looked up and saw his puzzled expression, wanting to say something but ultimately chose not to in the end.

She looked into his eyes with depth, which had regained their brightness and were no longer dull like they were half a year ago.

After a while, she calmed down and remembered to ask, “When did you recover?”

Being asked this, Xie Shuo paused for a bit before replying, “The day after Dad’s birthday.”

    Xie Baiyan’s birthday?

    How long ago was that?

“So you were lying to me all these days?”

Ye An widened her eyes, finding it somewhat hard to believe that he would resort to such a childish prank of deception.

Xie Shuo glanced at her, remaining silent.

Ye An’s excitement about him regaining his sight had turned completely cold. Remembering the times when he pretended to be blind and watching her testing things in front of him like a fool, her anger surged instantly.

She looked at him and sneered, “Was it fun for you?”

Avoiding her gaze, a rare hint of guilt flashed across his usually indifferent face.

Ye An was confused. “But… Why did you lie to me?”

Xie Shuo initially wanted to bring up the divorce thing, but seeing that she seemed to have forgotten that arrangement completely, he held back and explained, “When my vision was first restored, it wasn’t stable, so I didn’t tell you right away. Later… it was because we needed to deal with Zhang Junfeng, and I didn’t want any unnecessary complications.”

Afraid she might read too much into it, he added, “Telling Dad was for the sake of convenience.”

    “…….”

This explanation was barely justifiable, but a sense of hurt still lingered in the depths of Ye An’s heart. Both Xie Baiyan and Zhong Fu were in the know while she was the only outsider, even less than Zhong Fu.

She really worried for him all that time for nothing.

Ye An’s expression went cold, and she walked over to the sofa and sat down, not wanting to talk to him anymore.

She sat on the sofa with her body turned to the side, her long hair cascading over her shoulders. The light apricot-colored sweater she wore highlighted her slender waist.

Xie Shuo had anticipated that she would be angry. Glancing at her back, he walked over and sat down beside her, holding her hand.

Ye An withdrew her hand, turned away from him, and gave him a cold side profile.

She was in a mood now, and it would take a while to appease her. Xie Shuo was in a hurry to leave, and when he saw the time, he frowned and said, “I have a matter to take care of. I’ll talk to you when I come back.”

He returned to the walk-in closet, changed his clothes, and left in a hurry.

Listening to his fading footsteps, Ye An finally turned around and also snapped back to reality.

He regained his vision the day after Xie Baiyan’s birthday, which meant that during these few days of her unbridledly changing clothes in front of him, stealing glances at his body, and even taking photos of him secretly…

He was able to see everything!

A wave of intense embarrassment washed over her, making her feel numb from head to toe. Unable to contain herself, Ye An grabbed the nearby cushion and vigorously kneaded it, burying her face in it. Momentarily, she couldn’t determine whether she was more angry or more embarrassed.

She buried her face in it and smashed against it a few times.

AHHHH, she didn’t want to see him ever again!

    ……

It wasn’t until dinner time that Ye An left her room. The living room and study were both empty, and the entire second floor was quiet and silent.

She came downstairs wearing slippers, and Auntie Zhou had already prepared dinner. Seeing her come down, Auntie Zhou informed her that when Xie Shuo left, he said he wouldn’t be coming back for dinner.

Hearing this, Ye An felt relieved. It was good that he wasn’t—saved her from being awkward.

Outside, the sky was gloomy, with layers of heavy clouds piling up and the wind rustling.

Before long, rain started to fall, pittering and pattering on the leaves and branches.

On the glass windows, a mist gradually formed.

After dinner, Ye An went to bed early after taking a shower to avoid Xie Shuo.

The sound of rain was pitter-pattering outside, uninterrupted for a long time. Wrapped in her blanket, Ye An slept lightly. In a daze, she saw a figure entering the room.

Walking to the bedside, Xie Shuo looked down at her from above apathetically, similar to how he appeared shortly after their marriage.

    Ye An: ?

It’s you who lied to me, no?

I haven’t even done anything yet, and you’re the one with the sour expression now?

She struggled to open her eyes and attempted to sit up, but her whole body felt weak and she couldn’t move.

Xie Shuo looked at her for a moment before suddenly saying, “Let’s talk about the divorce matter.”

His tone was indifferent, devoid of any emotions.

Ye An was taken aback as if a dagger of ice pierced her heart. Just then, the sound of the door opening suddenly sounded…

    She opened her eyes.

The light suddenly turned on, and Xie Shuo pushed the door open, entering the room.

… It turned out that it was just a dream.

Ye An half-raised her body and watched him approach, her mind still a bit muddleheaded.

The shorthand of the clock pointed at 11. Xie Shuo took off his coat exhaustively before glancing at her. “Did I wake you up?”

His voice was still relatively gentle.

Ye An said nothing, anxiously having the feeling that he might say… “Let’s talk about the divorce matter.”

Seeing her calm demeanor, Xie Shuo thought she had calmed down, so he didn’t bring up the topic of pretending to be blind again. He loosened his tie and went to grab his pajamas before taking a shower.

The rain continued to fall, their sound melancholic. As she watched his retreating figure, an indescribable emotion surged within Ye An. A sense of emptiness seemed to settle in her chest.

He had really regained his sight.

Then, their agreement should also be fulfilled, right?

She thought back to the scene in her dream just now, her heart palpitating for a moment before lying back down, but she couldn’t fall asleep for a long time.

After a while, the bathroom door opened, and Xie Shuo came out after his shower, lifting the covers and getting into bed.

Due to the board meeting tomorrow, he had little room to think about anything else. He reached out and pulled Ye An into his arms before closing his eyes and falling asleep.

Ye An also knew that he had a tough battle ahead. She glanced at him and momentarily suppressed her thoughts and didn’t fuss with him.

The next morning, when Ye An woke up, Xie Shuo had already changed into his clothes. He was dressed in a suit, with his pants straight, and displayed a cold aura.

Ye An looked at him and hesitated for a moment before asking, “Do you want me to accompany you there?”

Xie Shuo fastened the buttons of his shirt before turning around and saying, “No need, just rest well at home.”

Ye An gave the blanket a tug, about to lay back down, when he suddenly held out a tie in front of her and said, “Help me tie it.”

The man’s fingers were slender and clean; his gesture was very natural as he reached out his hand.

Ye An glanced at him and said nothing. She silently took the tie from his hand and knelt by the bedside before expertly tying an elegant Windsor knot for him.

After she finished tying the tie, Xie Shuo rolled up his sleeve, put on his watch, adjusted his collar, and then left the room.

Looking at him walk away, Ye An felt a sense of nostalgia, as if she had caught a glimpse of the once-spirited and confident man he used to be.

  • I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 26

    The Purple Clown

That kiss that day seemed to be nothing more than an illusion in the midst of confusion and infatuation.

After some coordination by the Student Council and the Social Union, the next day’s event exceeded the expected attendance and generated a significant online buzz.

The third evening’s social gathering had no specific theme, and it boldly invited bands and DJs. If not for the absence of alcohol, it would have almost turned into a nightclub.

The energetic music and dazzling lights created a lively atmosphere, and the excited crowd swayed to the rhythm on the dance floor. The social gathering tonight felt more like a party than a formal event.

There were even some young teachers and many students from neighbouring schools who joined in the celebration, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Amidst the flashing lights, Wen Le danced with a few acquaintances on the dance floor for a while before leaving the crowd.

Although the atmosphere tonight was even better than the previous two days, Wen Le felt somewhat uninspired.

    “Who are you looking for?”

Wen Le was brought back to her senses by the voice and saw Cheng Hui bringing Dan Shan while approaching her.

Wen Le shook her head. “I’m not looking for anyone.”

But Dan Shan suddenly asked, “Why didn’t we see Zhou Kao tonight?”

Cheng Hui glanced teasingly at Wen Le upon hearing that.

Wen Le hesitated for a moment, then looked away. “How would I know? He’s not part of the Student Council.”

Seeing that Wen Le was reluctant to talk about it, the two of them didn’t pursue the topic further and shifted to another subject.

Cheng Hui said, “You guys must have completed the mission this time. Damn, triple the sponsorship, that’s impressive.”

Wen Le replied, “Thanks to our benefactor.”

Dan Shan laughed, “The Student Council and the Social Union should host a celebration banquet, right?”

Wen Le responded, “They said it would be tomorrow night, Monday.”

Cheng Hui remarked, “That’s really nice. If I had known, then I wouldn’t have quit the Student Council earlier.”

“Well, you joined too many clubs back then and couldn’t handle the workload”, Wen Le replied.

Dan Shan smiled gently and said, “Our Volunteer Association is doing well too.”

Cheng Hui proudly replied, “Of course, otherwise I wouldn’t have stayed.”

Then Cheng Hui brought up something else, “Resident Evil 7 is out. Want to go watch it?”

Wen Le nodded, “Sure, let’s go.”

Cheng Hui suggested, “Great, we have no classes for the last two periods on Thursday afternoon. We can invite Bao Xiaofan and Man Qingxuan as well. It’s been so long since school started, and we haven’t had a meal together. I miss the taste of grilled meat.”

    “Okay.”

Dan Shan looked at the two of them enviously and said, “You guys have such a good relationship in your dorm.”

Cheng Hui replied, “There are six of us in our dorm, but only the four of us can truly get together.”

Dan Shan’s voice lowered as she said, “The atmosphere in our dorm… is a bit complicated.”

Cheng Hui reassured her, “That’s normal. Every dorm is different. If you don’t get along, just find friends you can get along with.”

Unconsciously, Wen Le glanced into the crowd again, but she still didn’t see Zhou Kao tonight.

The dinner on Monday night was lively.

The collaboration between the Social Union and the Student Council, after working together for nearly half a month, had secured such a significant project and garnered unprecedented attention.

The social gathering had an unprecedented level of excitement, and discussions on the campus forum remained high, surpassing even the popularity of the Campus Singer Competition and Campus Beauty Contest.

Some even began to propose that such social gatherings should continue from one year to another, and the demand for such events was growing.

Although nothing had been confirmed yet, it was a recognition of their work for everyone involved.

The cooperation over the past half month had fostered a sense of belonging among them. The relationship between the Social Union and the Student Council had become closer, and Wen Le had also made friends in the Student Council.

However, while everyone else was getting closer, Wen Le and Zhou Kao seemed to have drifted apart and returned to their initial state, but there was a subtle difference in the distance of this drift.

They didn’t communicate with each other throughout the entire event and celebrated within their own circles.

Zhou Kao was constantly being persuaded by the president and male members of the Student Council to drink, engaging in conversations among guys.

The president and a few friends insisted on toasting Zhou Kao, mainly due to a post on the campus forum.

On the second day of the social gathering, a picture of a purple-clad clown and a red-and-blue-clad clown passionately kissing in a corner was taken and posted online. Some people mistook the purple-clad clown for Zhou Kao.

People started speculating whether Zhou Kao had a girlfriend and if the girl was Wen Le.

But soon, someone released a picture of Zhou Kao standing with Wen Le, and they compared the height difference between the red-and-blue-clad clown and the purple-clad clown. It was clear that the red-and-blue-clad clown was shorter than Wen Le and clearly not her.

Netizens began to speculate about the identity of the girl.

This post actually had high popularity, but recently, the social gathering had stolen the spotlight, and the topic’s heat remained high. The post was hidden among many other posts and wasn’t that noticeable.

    However, someone did notice it.

So some classmates from the Student Council dragged Zhou Kao and forced him to drink, trying to get him to reveal who the girl was.

Zhou Kao drank quite a bit and repeatedly emphasised that the purple-clad clown was not him.

But no one believed him because the person in the picture looked extremely similar to Zhou Kao.

Zhou Kao, feeling helpless, pinched his brow and mentioned a name, saying, “If I’m not mistaken, that should be Ding Jian.”

Someone didn’t understand and asked, “Who is Ding Jian?”

Someone in the know gave a strange look and explained, “He’s a male model who does fashion shows, and he seems to be their class monitor.”

A carefree guy who initially thought it was Zhou Kao expressed some disappointment, “Ah, it’s really not you? But you two look so alike.”

Another guy chimed in, chuckling, “He’s probably intentionally imitating our handsome campus idol.”

Zhou Kao lowered his head and took a sip of his drink. His face didn’t reveal any emotions, and his calm and cold demeanour showed a maturity beyond his age.

The boys who were familiar with Zhou Kao were accustomed to this side of him. In fact, the inexplicable aura he unintentionally revealed always created a sense of distance. Even though they were all sitting at the same table, they seemed destined to exist in different worlds, even at different levels.

On the other side, the girls were discussing the same topic. Wen Le sipped her drink quietly, listening to the other girls’ gossip.

Unlike some carefree boys, the girls were more sensitive to such topics.

“The purple-clad clown that day seemed to be Ding Jian,” the girl sitting across from Wen Le whispered, her eyes gleaming with the unique light of gossip. She continued in a hushed voice, “To be honest with you all, the clown girl from that day is our class beauty.”

“Really?” another girl exclaimed, her voice sounding somewhat excited as if she had just learned some juicy information.

“Yes, it’s true. Why would I lie to you?” the girl opposite her smiled and continued, “Actually, our class beauty initially thought Ding Jian was Zhou Kao, especially when Ding Jian kissed her with his head lowered. It reminded her of how Zhou Kao kissed you, Wen Le.”

As they spoke, several people couldn’t help but look at Wen Le, their eyes filled with curiosity.

Wen Le lightly tapped the table and said, “We were just hyping things up. Besides, he actually kissed the ring on my hand.”

A girl beside her shoved Wen Le playfully and teased, “Stop lying, then why did you two dance together later?”

Wen Le cleared her throat, feeling somewhat embarrassed, but still remained composed as she came up with an excuse, “Because I said his dancing skills were not as good as mine, and he couldn’t accept that challenge, so we had to have another dance-off~”

Wen Le gave herself a mental thumbs-up; she almost believed her own excuse.

TN: LOLLLLL haha our FL is such a mood.

    “Pfff, hahahaha”

Laughter erupted from the girls at the table.

“Indeed, it is something that you two would do, hahaha.”

“I can’t believe it! Wen Le, you danced with the handsome hunk Zhou, and you weren’t even slightly flustered?”

Wen Le flirtatiously tossed her hair back and said somewhat discontentedly, “Why don’t you ask him if he was flustered dancing with me? Am I not attractive enough for him?”

The girls burst into laughter, finding this competitive spirit amusing.

Seeing Wen Le talk about this topic without any shyness, had everyone convinced. After all, they had seen the way the two of them faced off during meetings, like they were about to draw swords and fight each other.

Their competitiveness had reached such an extreme that they completely ignored each other’s attractiveness.

Once the laughter subsided, the girls lost interest in Wen Le and Zhou Kao and shifted their focus to gossiping about Ding Jian.

A girl across the table said, “Our class beauty initially thought Ding Jian was Zhou Kao. She actually quite liked Zhou Kao. And then, she got quite forward with him. Our class beauty is no slouch when it comes to flirting. I always feel like there are multiple suitors in her fishing pond, at least three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine fishes.”

“Pff haha, what on earth? Three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine…”

“Oh well, I didn’t count them specifically, don’t get sidetracked.”

“When our class beauty tried all her charms on the legendary ‘unflirt-withable’ Zhou Kao…” The girl paused for a moment and then burst into laughter, “It turns out, Zhou Kao truly is unflirt-withable, even our great beauty Wen Le couldn’t sway him.”

Another girl laughed and said, “That’s mainly because others want to conquer Zhou Kao, but this weirdo here wants to defeat him, haha.”

Wen Le straightened her chest proudly, “So what, this female warrior is proud of it.”

“The female warrior might end up as the leftover warrior if she keeps going like this.”

Wen Le issued a warning about gossiping, “We were just gossiping, why twist the story?”

The girl across the table put her hands together and said, “My bad, let’s continue gossiping.”

“When our class beauty was about to try all her charms on Zhou Kao, who was rumored to be unflirt-withable, she found out that he was surprisingly proactive. Before they could finish dancing, they rushed off to find a place, and sparks were flying.”

“At that moment, they were kissing passionately, and our class beauty found the mask to be a hindrance, so she just pulled it off. Ding Jian seemed surprised by her bold move.”

“As our class beauty looked up and saw Ding Jian’s face, she just…”

Excitedly, a girl asked, “What happened? Did she give him a slap?”

The girl across the table playfully kept them hanging for a moment before bursting into laughter, saying, “She burst right into ugly tears, hahaha.”

The table fell silent, and after a while, someone asked, “Really? Is this Ding Jian that ugly?”

A girl in a yellow dress next to Wen Le explained, “Hmm I don’t think he’s that ugly, actually just about average, some may even find him handsome in an unconventional way, but he can’t be compared to Zhou Kao.”

“Is he… imitating Zhou Kao? Why does he look a bit awkward doing it?”

“I feel the same way, he didn’t act like that before.”

    “Why is he doing it?”

“Just a piece of gossip I heard. Apparently, an entertainment company came to recruit people, and he went for an audition, but the company noticed Zhou Kao passing by and was interested in him. Zhou Kao turned them down, and for some reason, Ding Jian didn’t get the contract either in the end.”

“Oh, so that’s what happened. No wonder he’s imitating Zhou Kao. But he’s only a sophomore; he doesn’t need to rush, right?”

“It’s better to become famous early, you know?”

    ……

It was a joyful night, and everyone drank a fair amount of alcohol.

Wen Le was happy and had two drinks, but she had a low alcohol tolerance, and her face quickly flushed.

A tipsy beauty exuded charm, and Wen Le herself didn’t notice, but more and more glances were directed her way.

Zhou Kao had drunk a bit too much and got up to go to the restroom. As he glanced around, his eyes unintentionally swept over that vivid colour in the crowd. He frowned slightly, whispered something to the classmate next to him, and then left.

After a while, a waitress brought freshly made strawberry milkshakes to the girls’ table.

The sweet pink strawberry milkshakes were particularly popular among the girls, so the beer was quickly set aside and went untouched.

TN: Awwww I wonder why did the girls suddenly got served strawberry milkshakes 😉

  • I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 25

TN: I have a feeling that everyone will really love this chapter hehe~ Enjoy! 🥳

    Been Led Astray

Wen Le’s heart trembled, her pupils contracted, and she suddenly looked towards Zhou Kao. Her heart skipped a beat, blood rushed straight to her brain, and her ears buzzed. Her face behind the mask turned red.

Zhou Kao’s face was hidden behind the mask, and no one knew who this clown was. The audience erupted in cheers, thinking that this was another one of Wen Le’s enthusiastic pursuers. They didn’t think much of it. There were even guys in the audience openly challenging Zhou Kao, loudly proclaiming, “The goddess is mine!”

    “Hahaha.”

    Laughter filled the audience.

But not everyone was unaware of the identity of the clown on stage confessing to Wen Le. Several good friends of Zhou Kao from the student council and his three silly roommates in the audience knew.

At the moment when Zhou Kao mentioned Wen Le, those few people who knew couldn’t believe their eyes as they looked at Zhou Kao. They immediately started whistling excitedly or laughing and cheering, but they remained inconspicuous among the crowd.

The mask was indeed a great disguise. It allowed people to shout out things they wouldn’t normally dare to say.

However, if these excited individuals knew that the clown standing next to Zhou Kao at this moment was Wen Le, they probably wouldn’t know how to react, they would probably have felt either shocked or thrilled.

Today’s host was a male student from the Student Union who was not familiar with Zhou Kao and Wen Le. He didn’t know that this fake clown couple on stage was exactly them. Upon hearing Zhou Kao’s words, he said, “It seems our goddess Wen Le truly has endless charm. But…”

The host changed the subject and shouted loudly to the audience, “Let me see how many rivals he has!”

After the host’s words, laughter filled the audience. For the sake of joining in the fun, about a third of the guys in the audience raised their hands.

The host exclaimed in surprise and patted Zhou Kao’s arm, “Bro, you have to work harder.”

Laughter erupted from the audience again.

Wen Le was a bit absent-minded, still thinking about Zhou Kao’s words. Her mind was in a mess, but she wasn’t sure why. She just couldn’t think straight, to the point that the host had to call her twice before she snapped out of it.

Wen Le smiled apologetically at the host.

The host said, “It seems this beautiful lady is a bit nervous. Let’s give her a round of applause, shall we?”

    Applause echoed from the audience.

The truth question that Wen Le drew was:

If someone you’re ambiguous with confessed to you right now, would you accept it?

    Damn.

When Wen Le drew this note, a group of mythical creatures galloped through her mind.

    What the hell was this?

If it weren’t for her being a staff member, she would have suspected that someone had maliciously prepared some kind of confession ceremony.

Just as Zhou Kao had answered that she was his first crush, she drew a question like this.

Who wouldn’t think too much about it?

Imagine if they weren’t wearing masks at the moment.

Zhou Kao said that Wen Le was his first crush.

And now Wen Le drew a question asking if she would accept a confession from someone she was ambiguous with.

It was as if they were asking Wen Le, “Are you willing to be with Zhou Kao?”

Wen Le’s breath hitched, she awkwardly curled her fingers, and smiled at the host, saying, “I choose the dare.”

The host nodded and asked Wen Le to draw another dare.

The dare that Wen Le drew was:

No Flutter Challenge: Complete three ‘No Flutter Challenges’. If you fail, you have to accept the bitter melon juice punishment.

Wen Le nodded, this was doable.

The host smiled and brought an electronic watch that could measure the heart rate. He put it on Wen Le’s wrist.

The first ‘No Flutter Challenge’ was to watch a video on a certain video app that had a lot of likes for handsome guys.

All the challenges were prepared in advance, and there were a total of five videos, all featuring several of the hottest guys on a certain video app.

The videos were played on the LED screen behind the stage, visible to everyone.

Naturally, the handsome guys who had so many fans on a certain video website were impeccable in terms of looks. As soon as the first video started, Wen Le heard a girl in the audience quietly squeal.

Wen Le remained expressionless, but her heart rate gradually dropped from 85 to 82 as she watched the video with the handsome guy changing outfits.

The host chuckled and said, “It seems this one is not your cup of tea.”

Moving on to the next video, this time it wasn’t a change of outfits. Instead, the guy pushed his hair covering his forehead up and slowly turned his head towards the camera in slow motion.

This guy had beautiful eyes and long eyelashes. When he looked towards the camera in slow motion, there was a touch of deep emotion, it was very captivating.

Wen Le’s heart rate dropped from 80 to 78.

The host sighed and said, “Seems like it’s difficult to handle you.”

The host selected three more videos, including some popular rising stars.

The girls in the audience kept screaming, but Wen Le watched expressionlessly, and her heart rate continued to decrease at an almost steady pace. By the time she finished watching several videos, her heart rate had dropped to 78.

The host looked at Wen Le and wondered, “Why do I feel like you’re a bit disdainful?”

Wen Le laughed out, “No, not at all.”

The host wondered, “Wow, the guys who like you must be in a tough spot. You seem difficult to pursue.”

Wen Le innocently blinked her eyes, “Is that so?”

The host said, “It’s okay, there’s still the second challenge.”

The host scanned the audience and pointed at the purple-suited clown to come on stage.

Both Wen Le and Zhou Kao furrowed their brows instinctively.

The host whispered something to the purple-suited clown.

After the host finished speaking, he turned to Wen Le and deliberately made a funny villainous laugh, saying, “Bring it on, hahaha.”

Wen Le turned her gaze away speechlessly.

The purple-suited clown seemed a bit helpless, but still followed the host’s instructions. He took a red rose from a vase used for decoration next to the stage and walked slowly towards Wen Le.

This person truly lived up to his background in fashion performance. The way he moved, with an elegant gait cultivated through years of training, was different from an ordinary person.

Surprisingly, his deliberate elegance coincided with Zhou Kao’s internal temperament. Coupled with their similar height and physique, it’s no wonder people easily mistook him for Zhou Kao.

Whether it was Wen Le’s illusion or not, she felt that this person seemed to be intentionally or unintentionally imitating Zhou Kao.

The girls in the audience were somewhat excited, seemingly envious of Wen Le.

The purple-suited clown approached Wen Le and handed her the red rose, whispering in a deliberately lowered voice, “You look beautiful tonight.”

    Wenl Le: …

Zhou Kao’s deep affection under the mask turned somewhat displeased.

Wen Le didn’t react immediately. Instead, she glanced at Zhou Kao first.

And at that moment, Wen Le’s heart rate rose from 78 to 82.

The host sounded somewhat triumphant, “It went up, it went up!”

Zhou Kao frowned upon hearing this.

Wen Le turned her head to look at the purple-suited clown and said calmly, “Thank you.”

As Wen Le accepted the rose, her heart rate stabilized at 80.

The host expressed some regret, “Oh, it went back down again. This is too difficult to handle!”

Laughter erupted from the audience again.

The clown in the purple outfit left the stage.

The host seemed to give up and randomly pointed at a guy, pointing at Zhou Kao next to Wen Le.

The host, with waning enthusiasm, said, “Buddy, say something romantic in the beauty’s ear.”

Zhou Kao glanced at the host, then looked at Wen Le, raising his eyebrow slightly.

Wen Le’s heart skipped a beat, and her heart rate slowly began to climb.

Zhou Kao leaned in slowly to Wen Le’s ear.

The host couldn’t believe his eyes, holding his breath as he watched the heart rate on the LED screen next to Wen Le skyrocket to 99.

Everyone witnessed the comical orange-clad clown lingering by the yellow-clad clown’s ear, and their heart rates went off the charts. The yellow-clad clown’s heart rate even exceeded 120.

With the heart rate exceeding the limit, Wen Le failed the challenge.

The host was shocked and hurriedly approached Zhou Kao, asking, “Buddy, what did you say to the beauty? It was so effective! My goodness, teach us, and if you find a girlfriend in the future, I’ll treat you to a meal.”

Zhou Kao smiled and glanced at Wen Le without saying a word.

In reality, he didn’t say anything at all.

TN: HAHAHAHA I love this interaction!!!

Wen Le felt annoyed and looked away, avoiding his gaze.

The host brought over the bitter gourd juice, filling a small cup halfway.

Wen Le was about to reach out and take it.

But just then, a hand reached past Wen Le and grabbed the cup of bitter gourd juice before her.

Wen Le looked behind her and saw Zhou Kao, dressed as a clown, standing there with the cup of bitter gourd juice in his hand. He said calmly, “Let me handle this.”

    Whistles erupted from the audience.

The host also enjoyed seeing this scene and gladly agreed.

Zhou Kao brought the cup to his lips and took a sip.

Wen Le looked up and watched his Adam’s apple move up and down.

Zhou Kao set down the empty cup and nodded towards the host.

The host couldn’t believe it and said to Zhou Kao, “I’ve tasted this thing, and it’s absolutely bitter to the point of questioning life. I’m starting to doubt if what I tasted is the same thing you just drank.”

Zhou Kao showed no reaction at all, as if he had just drunk a glass of plain water.

The host gave him a thumbs up and said, “Impressive.”

“If someone like you can stay single, then the rest of us should all be bachelors.”

Laughter erupted from the female audience members.

For some reason, Zhou Kao glanced at Wen Le.

After the punishment game was over, everyone went off the stage, and it was time for the mask auction.

Wen Le didn’t have much to do. Her main task was to write a promotional article after the auction, elevate the theme of the evening, and improve the image of the Student Council, Social Union and the A University for the school magazine.

Currently, everyone was focused on the auction, and Wen Le, as an idle staff member, waited in a secluded corner behind the LED screen, ready to lend a hand if any unexpected situation arose.

Wen Le was stationed near an exit behind the LED screen, which led to a tunnel-like path. It was called a tunnel because the overhead section was the audience seating area of the basketball court.

Wen Le leaned against the wall of the tunnel, playing with her phone. The lighting in the tunnel was dim, making it difficult to see the faces of people in the distance. It was secluded and quiet.

Wen Le heard footsteps, which was normal. It wasn’t strange for someone else to pass by besides her.

But these footsteps approached her, casting a shadow in front of her.

    Wen Le looked up.

    It was Zhou Kao.

Zhou Kao was still in his clown attire, wearing a mask and a hat. The only difference was that he held a yellow helium balloon in his hand.

Now he matched perfectly with their dormitory’s silly antics.

It was somewhat silly, but Wen Le couldn’t find it funny at all.

To be honest, ever since Zhou Kao revealed that she was his first crush, her heart had been in turmoil. Even now, she felt like she was slow to react.

In truth, she wasn’t surprised by his answer. She was his first crush, and he was hers. They understood each other without needing to say it explicitly.

But she didn’t expect him to say it out loud.

When the window paper wasn’t pierced* Wen Le thought everything was still manageable. They could act as if nothing had happened.

*TN: Wen Le is referring to the metaphor she used in chapter 13

But now that it was pierced, everything had changed completely.

Wen Le was even a bit angry that Zhou Kao had broken through that barrier.

In the dim and quiet tunnel, every sound became more pronounced.

Wen Le looked at Zhou Kao expressionlessly.

Zhou Kao asked her in a low voice, “Were you upset on stage just now?”

His low voice seemed surprisingly gentle in this environment.

The anger in Wen Le’s heart seemed to dissipate.

Wen Le shook her head slightly and replied softly, “No.”

Zhou Kao chuckled, “Even the top elite can accept failure.”

Wen Le playfully punched his chest and said, “You’re so annoying.”

Zhou Kao lowered his voice and chuckled softly.

The low laughter echoed faintly in the tunnel.

Wen Le’s ears twitched, and she withdrew her hand to put it behind her back.

However, Zhou Kao held onto her hand, preventing her from retracting it.

Wen Le didn’t pull her hand back, but asked in a low voice, “What are you doing?”

Zhou Kao tied the small yellow duck helium balloon from his hand onto Wen Le’s wrist.

    “Smack.”

Wen Le waved away Zhou Kao’s hand.

The small yellow duck helium balloon swayed on Wen Le’s wrist.

Wen Le felt an inexplicable anger rising within her. She suddenly couldn’t bear it and asked with frustration, “Do you even know what you’re doing, Zhou Kao?”

Zhou Kao lowered his head and looked at his own hand. After a moment, he spoke in a low, hoarse voice, “I know.”

Wen Le lifted her head and stared straight into Zhou Kao’s eyes, which were filled with suppressed desire and tenderness.

Wen Le was on the verge of succumbing to the passion and affection hidden within those eyes, which burned with repressed desire and sparkled with starlight.

Wen Le’s gaze gradually became hazy, and both of them were breathing rapidly. In the midst of confusion and infatuation, Zhou Kao lowered his head slowly to kiss her.

TN: OMG OMG WHAT IS THIS SEXUAL TENSION!!

Wen Le tilted her head back, her gaze blurred, as their lips gradually drew closer.

Zhou Kao’s eyes were almost infatuated.

But in the next moment, Wen Le suddenly turned her head slightly and placed her index and middle fingers against Zhou Kao’s lips.

His lips were soft, and his breath was scorching.

Wen Le’s breath became unsteady, and the fingers pressing against Zhou Kao’s lips trembled lightly.

Wen Le’s voice was unsteady, but it was calm to the point of being cruel as she said, “You were enchanted by the lights and music.”

A momentary confusion and helplessness appeared in Zhou Kao’s eyes. After a brief struggle, he closed his eyes, and when he opened them again, the desire and tenderness in his eyes had completely faded away. The hazy gaze finally regained its calmness.

Zhou Kao let out a sigh and reached out to remove Wen Le’s wrist from his grasp.

Wen Le lowered her gaze and didn’t look at Zhou Kao.

Zhou Kao looked down at Wen Le, his voice low and gentle as he said, “You’re right. I was impulsive.”

Then Zhou Kao lowered his head gently.

Wen Le felt a warm sensation on her forehead.

But her heart felt as if it had been scalded, and it skipped a beat.

It was a very light kiss.

TN: We are finally getting some steamy action!! 😗

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 49

The next day, it was Sunday. Ye An woke up early, and the empty feeling in bed was finally no longer present. The man lying beside her had a tranquil sleeping face, and his breathing was even.

The curtains were partially drawn, allowing the morning sun to spill through the ripples and trickle into the room.

Xie Shuo had great skin, smooth and flawless. As he slept, his features appeared somewhat gentler than usual.

Gazing at his handsome face so close, Ye An couldn’t resist reaching out and lightly brushing against fine, long eyelashes with her finger.

Instantly, Xie Shuo’s long lashes fluttered, and his eyes opened. In the depths of those profound pupils, a faint glimmer emerged, reflecting her figure.

As their eyes met, Ye An’s mind briefly went blank. Her heart raced with a thump in her chest.

Xie Shuo was also looking at her. Before him was her fair, pearl-like complexion, clear and bright eyes, slightly curled lashes, an exquisite nose, and rosy soft lips.

Xie Shuo’s gaze landed on her lips, lingering there for a moment.

Ye An clenched her hand and slightly pursed her lips, feeling that he might lean in and kiss her the next second.

However, in reality, he didn’t kiss her. He hesitated for a moment before releasing her and sitting up. Just like usual, he got out of bed and headed to the bathroom to freshen up.

As he left the bed, so did the warmth from the covers. Ye An held the blanket close, remembering the fleeting glimmer in his eyes just now. The doubts from yesterday surged back into her mind once again.

    Can he really not see?

Ye An lied in bed, pondering for a while. Unable to reach a conclusion, she eventually got up and went to freshen up.

After freshening up, she entered the walk-in closet to grab Xie Shuo’s everyday clothes. Suddenly, a thought flashed through her mind…

Since trying to seduce him didn’t work, why not… do something that he couldn’t resist, something that would force him to reveal the truth?

Handing him the clothes, she scanned him from head to toe, then walked a little bit away from the walk-in closet. After a moment, she tiptoed back, her movements careful and quiet.

She remembered the first day, she accidentally walked in on him changing clothes. At that time, his expression visibly turned sour, and he had gotten really angry.

Now, if she were to openly watch him change clothes, he would definitely not be able to stand it.

Xie Shuo’s hand rested at his waist, about to untie the sash of his robe, when he unexpectedly caught a glimpse of her presence from the corner of his eye. His movement faltered.

Standing right outside the walk-in closet, Ye An fixed her gaze on him.

A peculiar expression flickered in Xie Shuo’s eyes. He paused for a few seconds before ultimately untying the sash at his waist as if no one was around. He took off the robe and casually tossed it aside.

The man’s tall and lean figure was almost entirely exposed to her eyes, with broad shoulders, a slender waist, and two long, muscular legs.

    “…….”

Ye An hadn’t expected him to deviate from the norm, and she was taken aback at first. Soon after, she blushed and averted her gaze.

After a short while of looking away, she couldn’t resist glancing back again.

Xie Shuo slid into the pants she had prepared for him, and then he reached for the shirt. From top to bottom, he slowly buttoned it up, each button meticulously fastened. It was as if he was intentionally putting on a show for her.

His fingers were long and slender, and the muscles on his chest and abdomen formed subtle contours as they rose and fell. The movements he made were indescribably seductive.

Ye An’s face grew even hotter, yet she couldn’t seem to tear her gaze away.

Away from her line of sight, a slight tug formed at the corner of Xie Shuo’s lips. Unusually, a hint of a smile appeared on his face.

Having changed his clothes, he emerged from the closet and walked past her without glancing sideways, as if he truly couldn’t see anything.

Looking at his retreating figure, Ye An couldn’t help but doubt herself once again.

Could it be that she was really overthinking things?

    …….

While Xie Shuo didn’t have to go to the company today, Ye An still had work at the studio. After breakfast, she instructed Xie Shuo on a few things, making sure he remembered to take his meds before hurriedly leaving the house.

Outside, the weather was clear and sunny, with sunlight beaming onto the car windows, making it warm and fuzzy.

On the side of the road, a cluster of red flowers blossomed in the warm sunlight, brimming with vitality.

As it was Sunday, the overtime wasn’t too long. Around 5:00 pm, Ye An finalized the schedule and process for tomorrow’s program recording with Xiang Quan before hurriedly heading home.

As the last sunset ray disappeared behind the mountains, the night fell, and the streetlights illuminated, casting a soft glow that spread like clusters of moonlight.

After dinner, Ye An pulled Xie Shuo for a walk in the garden.

It was still early after they returned to their room and showered. They nestled under the covers and sat against the headboard, resembling an old married couple.

Ye An specifically chose a book from the study and read it aloud to Xie Shuo.

The soft lighting from the lamp bathed the room as Xie Shuo listened to the familiar voice by his side, his eyelashes drooping slightly.

The book was in English, and once Ye An read to a certain point where she encountered an unfamiliar word, she paused and turned to ask Xie Shuo.

Xie Shuo looked up and read the word she pointed to aloud, even patiently explaining its meaning to her.

Ye An looked down and continued reading.

After reading about half of the book, she closed it and reached for the glass of water on the nightstand, taking a sip.

The phone on the nightstand buzzed a few times, and new messages kept popping up. She picked it up, unlocked it, and glanced at the screen. They were messages from the group chat with the rest of the members from the studio—which didn’t concern her.

She quickly skimmed through the messages before closing the phone and putting it back on the nightstand. When she turned around, she happened to meet Xie Shuo’s profound gaze.

They held eye contact for just a moment before Xie Shuo turned away.

Ye An caught a hint of something unusual in his eyes, and her suspicions grew stronger. Unable to resist, she raised her hand again and waved it in front of his eyes.

Xie Shuo didn’t even blink, remaining as still as a mountain.

Seeing his response, Ye An hesitated once again… If he had truly regained his sight, why would he keep such great news a secret?

Even if he didn’t tell her, he would at least inform Xie Baiyan and Grandfather, right?

Yet even now, there had been no sign of any reaction from Xie Baiyan or Grandfather.

Ye An got a headache from thinking about this and leaned against the sofa. Looking at him, a hint of frustration and disappointment appeared on her face.

Perhaps she was just hoping too much for him to regain his sight?

That might be why she was overthinking and having so many doubts.

The greater the expectations, the greater the disappointment.

She suddenly moved closer to his side as she recalled something and said, “I’ll be recording a dubbing program tomorrow. Pick me up at night?”

Xie Shuo finally reacted, looking up at her.

Ye An raised her chin slightly. “You’re even able to attend soirees now. Is it really too much to ask for you to pick me up?”

Xie Shuo speculated about her intention and replied, “Don’t we have a chauffeur?”

Ye An immediately responded, “It’s not the same! You’re my husband; there’s a world of difference between you picking me up and the chauffeur doing it.”

Snuggling up to him, she traced her finger back and forth across his chest, being a little bit playful before saying sweetly, “Just this once, can you?”

Xie Shuo’s gaze darkened and asked in a deep voice, “What time does it end?”

    He actually agreed so quickly?

Ye An was pleasantly surprised, “I’m not sure right now, but it might go until around 11 or 12 pm.”

Probably thinking that the time was quite late, Xie Shuo frowned and asked, “Where?”

Ye An gave him the address and happily wrapped her arms around his, smiling brightly. “You don’t have to go too early. Once it’s over, I’ll call you.”

Xie Shuo glanced at her, and for a change, patiently responded with, “Alright.”

    …….

The next day, Ye An got dressed and did her makeup early in the morning. She set out with the temporary assistant arranged by Xiang Quan, heading to the location for the program recording.

The dubbing program had a somewhat competitive element. The guests were divided into groups for dubbing performances, with eliminations and advancements leading to the final round.

The grouping of guests followed a specific pattern. The members of the group that Ye An was placed in were relatively young. Two were actors with acting skills in the entertainment industry, while another was a well-known veteran in the dubbing industry.

In terms of age, Ye An was the youngest among them. When it came to experience, she also had the least.

The reason Ye An was invited was mainly due to her skyrocketing popularity in the past half a year. She had both buzz and traffic. Additionally, the program had some connection to Brilliant Dreams Culture, so the program naturally leaned toward her.

The script for the recording had been prepared in advance. The program producers seemed to want to create hot and explosive headlines as the script assigned to her had a scene from a classic foreign movie.

Originally, it was expected to be somewhat challenging for her, but unexpectedly, she managed to handle it quite well.

In the past half a year, she had been reading books and documents to Xie Shuo, many of which were in a foreign language. As a result, her language skills improved by leaps and bounds, and her related professional skills also saw significant growth.

In the end, she even challenged herself by portraying multiple characters in one scene, seamlessly switching between them, and won enthusiastic applause from the audience.

After the recording was finished, it was nearly midnight. Outside the recording building, the night was dark, and the cold moon hung in the sky like a hook.

The staff began to leave one after another from the studio, bustling out and about.

Ye An called Xie Shuo, and when she learned that he was already in the parking garage downstairs, her heart was instantly filled with joy, happily taking the elevator downstairs with the others.

Everyone chatted and laughed along the way. When they exited the elevator, a staff member asked with concern, “Ye laoshi, do you have a ride?”

Ye An smiled with mirth. “My husband came to pick me up.”

As soon as she said that, people nearby displayed a curious expression, obviously knowing about the rumors.

However, Ye An didn’t pay attention to them. She turned to her assistant and instructed them to head back first. Then, she quickly walked forward in her high heels, the sound of her heels tapping against the ground echoing clearly in the parking garage.

Not far away, a familiar Maybach was parked quietly there. Beside the car stood a tall figure with a slender waist and long legs, his cold temperament accentuated by the black coat he wore.

Not expecting him to get out of the car, Ye An hurriedly quickened her pace and held his arm, a radiant and bright smile blooming on her face. “You actually came to pick me up?”

The parking garage was dimly lit. Xie Shuo glanced at her smiling face before averting his gaze, wrapping his arm around her waist, and getting into the car without saying anything.

No one noticed that in a distant corner, someone had raised their phone and discreetly taken a photo of them.

Once in the car, Ye An leaned against Xie Shuo’s shoulder, smiling as she recounted the day’s recording and her triumphant moment that had the entire audience cheering. Her eyes and brows were filled with joy.

“It’s a pity you weren’t there in person. When the program airs, I’ll play the audio for you.”

Xie Shuo lowered his gaze to glance at her, seemingly influenced by her mood. His expression softened, and he held her hand, gently kneading it.

The car exited the underground parking garage and merged onto the main road. The night scene was bustling, with street lights stretching along both sides of the road. The interplay of light and shadow continued to flash across the car’s windows.

As Ye An continued to talk, drowsiness gradually overcame her, and she closed her eyes, falling asleep.

A soft, shallow breath brushed against his neck. Xie Shuo turned to look at her, his gaze focused for a long while. He paused the motion of kneading her hand.

They arrived home at around one in the morning. The surroundings were quiet, and the moonlight cast a cold, serene glow over the garden with the flower branches shrouded in mist.

Ye An was still sound asleep, her face peaceful, showing no signs of waking up.

Xie Shuo looked at her, hesitated for a moment, and ultimately chose not to wake her up. Instead, he bent down and carried her out in his arms.

Ye An nestled against his shoulder, lightly nudging it.

Light spilled out from the mansion, and the two of them walked from the shadows toward the illuminated area.

It wasn’t until they entered the bedroom that Ye An opened her eyes. She gazed at the blurry figure before her, still a bit groggy.

Xie Shuo placed her on the sofa, and seeing her awake, softly said, “Go take a shower first. After that, you can go back to sleep.”

Ye An got up in a daze, grabbed her pajamas, and walked toward the bathroom, her steps feeling floaty the entire way.

After taking a shower and getting into bed, her drowsiness intensified. Her eyelids felt heavy as if weighed down by a thousand pounds, and she drifted further into sleep.

Turning over, she met Xie Shuo’s gaze. Thinking about how he had carried her earlier, a thought flashed through her mind as she parted her lips slightly.

The words “Can you see now?” were about to leave her lips, but before she could even ask, the overwhelming drowsiness took over, and she fell into a deep sleep.

    ……

Ye An slept particularly deeply in this sleep as she didn’t wake up until 10 am the next day.

The sunlight was bright, shining through the window and filling the room. Xie Shuo’s figure was nowhere to be seen.

At noon, she had lunch alone and then lounged on the sofa, leisurely playing on her phone.

With the program recording finished, she had a few days to rest and didn’t need to go to the studio.

In the afternoon, the winter sun bathed her in warmth, creating a cozy and fuzzy atmosphere.

Suddenly, a call came in with the caller ID being: Shi Shuangshuang.

As soon as the call connected, an excited voice nearly burst her eardrums…

    “WTF?”

    “Your husband is Xie Shuo?”

    “Is that for real?”

Ye An was taken aback. “How did you find out?”

“Somebody took a photo of you and your husband and posted it online, and someone dug it out!”

Shi Shuangshuang was clearly overly excited by the news, repeatedly asking, “Is it true?”

“Is your husband really Xie Shuo?”

“So he didn’t become a vegetable after the accident but lost his sight instead?”

“You actually got married to him?”

“And you managed to hide this for so long?”

“You’re really good at keeping your lips sealed…”

Ye An was getting a headache from her constant questions and felt a bit overwhelmed. She rubbed her forehead and said, “Let me check; I’ll talk to you later.”

After hanging up the call, Ye An opened Weibo, and as expected, the comments and direct messages were all asking her about her relationship with Xie Shuo.

She opened a link in the comments and found a post from a marketing account: “Breaking News: Ye An’s husband is actually Xie Shuo, the young master of the Xie family and former CEO of Junming Group!”

Below the post was a photo attached, a candid shot of Xie Shuo picking her up from the program recording last night. Though the lighting was dim, his face was captured clearly.

The comments below were already in a frenzy:

“Earth-shattering news! Does this mean Xie Shuo is truly blind?”

“This isn’t just a piece of gossip, it’s BIG gossip!”

Wuwuwu, even though he’s blind, he’s still so handsome!”

“No wonder she’s willing to marry him, if it were me, I’d marry him too.”

    “Sis, count me in too!”

“Seriously, rich, handsome, and blind? Who wouldn’t want that?”

    …….

Ye An quickly scrolled through the comments, feeling increasingly uneasy as the focus shifted from her to Xie Shuo. The headlines like “Xie Shuo Blind,” “Xie Shuo of Junming Group,” “Ye An & Xie Shuo,” began to trend and appear on the Hot Search list.

If this continued, it’s likely the news of Xie Shuo’s blindness would become widely known within a day.

Ye An quickly exited Weibo and hurriedly called Zhong Fu.

Zhong Fu answered the call and appeared quite calm, saying that the situation was already known on their end and told her not to worry.

“The PR team has already looked into it. Someone is buying the headlines.”

Hanging up the phone, Zhong Fu walked into the office and said to Xie Shuo, “It’s probably Zhang Junfeng who’s behind this.”

Leaning against the chair, Xie Shuo tapped his finger lightly on the desk, contemplating for a moment before saying with a smile, “No need to delete or suppress it.”

    ……

As expected, Ye An was right. The topic of Xie Shuo’s blindness was indeed gaining more and more traction. By around 4 or 5 pm, it had already made its way into the top ten trending topics.

There were many popular posts related to the topic popping up in numerous other forums and gossip groups. For a while, it seemed as if the entire internet was discussing this matter, overshadowing even the popularity of current top celebrities.

Throughout the entire afternoon, Ye An held her phone and closely followed the latest developments. She felt anxious and uneasy, with a sense that the unfolding events were becoming increasingly strange.

Given the popularity of both Xie Shuo and her, it didn’t seem likely that the situation would escalate so dramatically in just half a day. Moreover, it appeared that Junming Group hadn’t taken any PR measures and had allowed the situation to develop without intervening, even though she had already informed Zhong Fu.

Is the matter too big that it couldn’t be suppressed?

Is it that they feel it’s unnecessary to suppress it and are planning to give up?

In the evening, unable to endure it any longer, Ye An called Xie Shuo.

When his phone rang, Xie Shuo was in a small meeting with Zhong Fu and others.

Seeing the incoming call on his phone, Xie Shuo paused for a moment before answering it.

“Has Zhong Fu told you about the matter online?”

Ye An felt uneasy; her voice sounding somewhat feeble.

Xie Shuo: “He mentioned it, and I know about it. Don’t worry about it.”

Ye An clutched the pillow in her arms. “Is it really not a big deal?”

Xie Shuo sounded a soft “en” and said gently, “I probably won’t be coming home tonight. Go to bed early.”

Hearing him say this, Ye An finally felt relieved. “Okay.”

Xie Shuo hung up the call and placed his phone on the table, his expression becoming colder. “Continue.”

That night, Xie Shuo didn’t come home, and Ye An was lying in bed alone, tossing and turning, unable to sleep until midnight.

The next evening, Xie Shuo finally returned from the company, and accompanying him was Xie Baiyan, who had been on a business trip out of town.

The expression on both of their faces was somewhat solemn, and as soon as they returned, they headed straight to the study.

As Ye An walked past the study, she unintentionally overheard a snippet of conversation between the two men, revealing a piece of news…Three days later, Junming Group held a board meeting to formally remove Xie Shuo from his position in the company. The reason given was that his current condition was not suitable for holding a high position, posing too much risk and potentially affecting the company’s stock.

Upon hearing this, Ye An’s hands and feet turned icy cold.

So, did she cause all of this to him?

If she hadn’t insisted on him picking her up, he wouldn’t have been secretly photographed, and this situation wouldn’t have happened.

During dinner, the atmosphere at the dining table was somewhat low. Being somewhat restless, Ye An continued to count the amount of rice grains in her bowl, her appetite waning.

Stirring up such a big mess, yet Xie Baiyan didn’t even blame her, not even mentioning it to her. He truly had a good temper.

Ever since her parent’s divorce when she was a kid, Ye An followed Xia Jin and had never experienced the feeling of a harmonious family or affection from parents. However, after marrying into the Xie family, she occasionally got a taste of such feelings.

For Xie Baiyan, as long as she took good care of Xie Shuo, it didn’t matter if she behaved poorly in other aspects.

“An An, what’s wrong? No appetite?”

In the midst of her thoughts, she suddenly heard Xie Baiyan asking.

Coming back to her senses, Ye An smiled. “Nothing much, just a bit tired these past few days.”

Xie Baiyan observed her complexion and asked suddenly, “Are you perhaps pregnant?”

“I’ll have someone accompany you to the hospital for a check-up?”

    Cough…”

Ye An was caught off guard by this unexpected question and instinctively looked up at Xie Shuo, who also looked back at her.

As their eyes met, Ye An inexplicably felt her cheeks grow warm, and she averted her eyes.

“No, it’s just that I have a poor appetite.”

Hearing this, Xie Baiyan seemed a little disappointed. “Make sure to rest well.”

With this little episode, the atmosphere at the dining table eased a bit. In order to prove that she wasn’t pregnant, Ye An specially ate several bites of food in earnest.

    ……

After dinner, father and son entered the study once again.

Alone in the bedroom, Ye An had a feeling that a storm was brewing.

Not a sound could be heard amid the cold winter night. Outside the window, only the sound of the wind could be heard, as if all other noises had disappeared.

Sitting on the sofa and hugging her knees together, Ye An was feeling drowsy. Her head nodded down as if she was a sleepy chick pecking at grains.

Unknown time passed then footsteps echoed in the room as Xie Shuo walked in, his shadow casting a tall and slender silhouette.

Hearing footsteps, Ye An opened her eyes drowsily. Seeing him, she immediately awoke.

Sitting down beside her, Xie Shuo pinched his nose bridge and closed his eyes slightly, looking visibly exhausted.

Leaning closer to him, Ye An softly asked, “Did something happen?”

Opening his eyes, Xie Shuo replied insipidly, “It’s nothing.”

The more nonchalant he seemed, the more uneasy Ye An felt. She wanted to ask him about the board meeting, but she didn’t know how to broach the topic, given that she was the one responsible for all of this.

Her hesitant expression didn’t escape Xie Shuo’s notice, but he interpreted it differently.

Looking at her, he suddenly asked, “Are you really pregnant?”

Epilogue — Giving Birth to a Child

Since attending the award ceremony, Su Shen had not participated in any other events. Her days were filled with either eating or sleeping. She even skipped the press conference for the Republic of China-era movie she starred in. When she finally ventured out for a short walk, someone managed to take a photo of her thus cementing the rumors of her pregnancy.

After winning the award, her opportunities in the industry improved significantly, and she even received offers that came to her door. However, Su Shen was unable to accept any projects. Even when Li Hao got married, Xie Yan did not allow her to attend the wedding. Su Shen hadn’t even seen the bride before.

“I’m just pregnant, not bedridden with a serious illness. Why can’t I go out and have dinner?” She leaned on the sofa, flipping through the magazine discontentedly.

Xie Yan just so happened to finish changing his clothes and came downstairs. Upon hearing that, he simply walked over and picked up a blanket from the other side of the sofa, covering her with it. “There are a lot of people outside, accidents can happen unintentionally.”

Su Shen glanced at him from the corner of her eyes, still somewhat unhappy as she continued to flip through the magazine. “Accidents, accidents. Even when I go out to buy a bottle of water, accidents happen.”

“It’s better safe than sorry. If you’re bored, then I won’t go either,” replied Xie Yan seriously.

    Su Shen: “…….”

Li Hao is really pitiful for having such a friend!

Turning away, she snorted lightly. “Shoo, shoo. Come back soon, and don’t forget to take a photo of the bride for me.”

Hearing this, Xie Yan arched a brow and leaned in, whispering, “My phone never stores pictures of other women.”

    Su Shen: “…….”

Feeling that she was already thick-skinned enough, Su Shen still couldn’t help but blush and push him away. “I should tell Mom that you don’t even have a photo of her!”

    “Tell me what?”

Just at this moment, Mama Xie suddenly walked out of the kitchen, holding a bowl of chicken soup. Seeing the two of them in a stalemate, she couldn’t help but glare at Xie Yan. “If you’re going, go. Why are you bothering Su Shen?!”

After that, she smiled and placed the steaming bowl of chicken soup in front of Su Shen. “Here, come and drink it while it’s hot. I added a bit more sugar this time.”

As soon as she caught a whiff of the chicken soup’s aroma, a look of dread flashed in Su Shen’s eyes. She understood why Xie Yan didn’t want to eat meat anymore after eating too much as a child. She decided that she never wanted to drink chicken soup again in this life!

“Thanks, Mom. I’ll drink it now.” Su Shen smiled and reluctantly picked up the bowl of chicken soup.

As soon as Mama Xie turned around, Su Shen quickly scooped out a large piece of chicken from the bowl and stuffed it into Xie Yan’s mouth, loudly saying, “Hurry up and go, I need to drink the soup.”

Xie Yan felt like he had gained quite a bit of weight, and now even the smell of chicken soup made his scalp tingle.

He took a sip from the nearby water glass and caressed Su Shen’s head, amused by her expression as if she was eating poison before grabbing his coat and heading straight for the door.

Seeing the piping hot bowl of chicken soup, Su Shen couldn’t help but take a deep breath. Like a thirsty person finding water, she gulped it down, but halfway through, she put the bowl aside, frowning as she grabbed a few tissues to wipe her mouth. She felt a bit uncomfortable and leaned against the sofa, holding her belly.

“I’m going,” said Xie Yan, glancing back for a moment before opening the door about to leave.

Su Shen held her belly, looking at the door in pain. “Xie Yan…”

Her voice was very soft, but it was still heard by the person at the door. Immediately, he turned around and walked over to the sofa. When he saw her expression filled with pain, his heart tightened involuntarily. “What’s wrong?”

“My… my stomach hurts.” Su Shen had beads of sweat forming on her forehead.

Immediately, Xie Yan picked up his phone and called the hospital, asking them to be prepared in advance.

Coming out of the kitchen and seeing that he still hadn’t left, Mama Xie couldn’t help but scold him again, “Why are you still here?”

Clutching onto Xie Yan’s sleeve tightly, Su Shen turned around in discomfort. “Mom… my stomach hurts…”

Hearing this, Mama Xie’s complexion changed instantly. She immediately took off her apron and hurried over. “Isn’t the due date still a few days away? Quick! Let’s go to the hospital!”

After making the call, Xie Yan immediately handed a coat to Su Shen and then carried her as he hurriedly walked toward the door.

Sitting in the car, Su Shen continued to have intermittent pain, but she wasn’t sure if she was about to give birth. The sensation of not knowing whether there was pain or not was truly uncomfortable.

After arriving at the hospital and looking at the red light glowing outside the operating room, Xie Yan paced back and forth in the corridor outside.

Su Shen’s parents arrived in a hurry. There, they exchanged childbirth experiences with Mama Xie. When Xie Yan heard them talking about giving birth for a day and a night, he started to worry. Would Su Shen have the strength to endure such a long process?

It wasn’t until Li Hao called him that he remembered that it was the other party’s wedding today. However, he definitely couldn’t attend now, and the other party didn’t expect it either. Li Hao just said that he would come see the baby after the wedding.

The light of the operating room was still on, and seeing Xie Yan keep pacing back and forth, Xie Quan couldn’t help but tell him not to pace around anymore. With the advancement of medical technology, there should be no problems.

Be that as it may, Xie Yan was still worried. He Hua also arrived promptly, bringing along a few bodyguards to prevent any paparazzi who got wind of the news from taking any photos.

Not knowing how long it had been, but when the lights of the operating room finally went out, Xie Yan got up from the chair in an instant. He remembered that when he played the role of a doctor before, he had to inform the family of the patient that he had done his best when the operating room door opened.

For the first time, he felt dread. However, when the doctor came out and took off his mask, he revealed a smile. “Congratulations, both mother and baby are safe. It’s a boy.”

Everyone breathed a sigh of relief, and none more so than Xie Yan.

“Thank you, Doctor. You’ve worked hard!” Papa Su immediately stepped forward and shook the doctor’s hand, showing gratitude all over his face.

“I did what I was supposed to do. You all can go in and see the baby now, but the mother needs some rest,” the doctor said and then turned and walked away.

    ……..

When Su Shen woke up, she felt exhausted all over. The air was filled with the smell of disinfectant. By her bedside, she sensed a faintly familiar figure reading a postpartum care handbook.

    “Xie Yan…..”

Her voice was hoarse and feeble. When he heard her voice, Xie Yan immediately looked up, and realizing she had awakened, promptly went to pour her a glass of warm water.

After moistening her throat with water, Su Shen looked at him and asked, “Where’s the baby?”

She was too exhausted and fell asleep before having a chance to take a close look at the baby.

“Wait a sec.” Xie Yan caressed her face before turning around and leaving the room.

Soon, a nurse walked in carrying the baby. Su Shen wanted to sit up, but Xie Yan immediately told her not to move and propped the hospital bed up.

The baby’s face was still a little red. Su Shen carefully held the baby in her arms and couldn’t help but feel a bit emotional as she looked at the adorable little brat. Is this what it feels like to be a mother?

“During the confinement period*, you can’t cry; it’ll hurt your eyes.” Xie Yan gently wiped the area around her eyes with a tissue.

confinement period – to convalesce for a month following childbirth, following a special diet, and observing various taboos to protect the body from exposure to the “wind”

The nurse, who ate a pile of dog food, couldn’t help but rub her heart. After giving some instructions, she left the room.

Su Shen looked up and glared at him. “You’re still reading the postpartum care handbook?!”

As their eyes met, Xie Yan couldn’t help but fixate on the little baby in her arms and said earnestly, “Why can’t I look at it?”

As he spoke, he gently stroked the baby’s little face and said, “He’s a bit ugly; I just knew he wouldn’t be as good-looking as me.”

    Su Shen: “…….”

“Who doesn’t have wrinkled skin when they are born? And who said you’re so good-looking? Look at how tan you are! I was worried you would ruin the baby’s genes!” Su Shen retorted with a hint of disdain, glancing at his complexion.

Hearing this, a certain someone couldn’t help but pause his breath. Su Shen’s actually shunning him!

She did like those fair and clean xiao xian rous!

“It’s okay, as long as you have good genes.” Xie Yan pretended to be indifferent and smiled.

Su Shen pursed her lips and said nothing. Instead, she continued to play with her baby.

Li Hao’s wedding was at 8:00 pm. However, Xie Yan posted a Weibo with a photo of a big hand holding a tender little foot.

Xie Yan V: @Su Shen, she said I ruined the baby’s genes. [photo]

Li Hao didn’t know what to say when his limelight was stolen but immediately commented: “Finally, someone spoke the truth. [smiley face]”

The new groom and the new father began their love-hate relationship with each other.

Seeing the headline, Su Shen couldn’t help but scold Xie Yan for being disrespectful. He could’ve waited until the next day to post it, why did he have to snatch someone else’s limelight today?

  • Film Empress’s Daily Face Slapping Chapter 111

    Ending

    “I do.”

There was no hesitation in Xie Yan’s voice, his gaze was focused and earnest. Su Shen didn’t avoid his gaze this time and met his eyes directly.

“Ms. Su Shen, do you take Mr. Xie Yan to be your lawfully wedded husband? No matter for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness or in health, in happiness or in sorrow, you will love him without reservation and stay devoted to him as long as you live?”

Facing Si Yi’s question, Su Shen held the mic and took a deep breath before replying firmly, “I do.”

In an instant, the crowd below erupted into enthusiastic applause, and some naughty individuals shouted, “KISS, KISS, KISS!”

As the voices grew louder, Xie Yan held the mic and said earnestly and resolutely while looking at Su Shen, “I had never believed that some things or people in this world could not be replaced, nor did I believe that certain things must happen. But, since I met you, I realized that there is someone who is truly irreplaceable. I had never felt grateful for anything or anyone, but at this moment, I am thankful to the heavens for letting me meet you, for appearing in my life.”

The deep and sincere voice of the man echoed in every corner of the hall. Whether familiar with Xie Yan or not, everyone knew that he was not an emotional or talkative person. Thus, his heartfelt words moved many hearts, and the applause erupted enthusiastically.

Su Shen tried to hold back her tears all along, not knowing what to say. Although it was just a ceremony, the weight of the moment felt infinitely magnified in her heart.

Holding the mic, she suppressed her choked-up emotions and looked into his eyes for the first time, saying earnestly, “I’m also very thankful for this opportunity given by the heavens. It made me understand that in life, there are gains and losses. I’m fortunate that what I’ve gained far outweighs what I’ve lost. I promise that from now on, I will be there for you, take care of you, take care of our home, and walk with you to the end of our lives.

As those words fell, the hall erupted into ardent applause once again, and the calls for a kiss grew louder and louder. Taking a step forward, Xie Yan embraced Su Shen, smiling without saying a word.

In the next moment, a pair of small hands suddenly wrapped around his neck, and a soft and warm pair of ruby lips pressed against his. Xie Yan jolted and quickly came to his senses when he heard the deafening cheers. He took control of the situation, holding her waist tightly and kissing her deeply in return.

Su Shen didn’t know where she found the courage to do such a thing, but she did it, and she had no regrets about it!

Fortunately, Xie Yan also knew that this was not an appropriate venue for intimacy, and he quickly let go of her. The crowd cheered, and then they exchanged rings. After that, Su Shen immediately went to the room to change into the wedding reception gown.

Su Shen had put a lot of effort into the embroidery for this gown herself. Although it was a bit heavy and the hairpins in her hair were quite elaborate, Su Shen was already used to such intricate attire in her previous life. Thus, even while walking, she didn’t feel tired at all.

During the toasting, Su Shen and Xie Yan didn’t drink much as they were mostly blocked by Li Hao. When Li Hao couldn’t handle it anymore, Xie Yan brought in Zhong Quan. When Zhong Quan couldn’t handle it either, Sun Zhi was brought in. Finally, when Xie Yan couldn’t find anyone else, he even pulled in Wang Cheng, but he couldn’t hold his liquor well. Toward the end, during the toasts with some relatives, Xie Yan had to drink on his own.

After a whole day of festivities and celebrations, Su Shen hardly had a chance to eat anything. When they finally returned home at night, Xie Yan proved to be capable enough to prevent anyone from coming to disturb their bridal night. After Su Shen took a shower, she felt completely exhausted and collapsed on the bed.

Just as she was about to fall asleep, Su Shen suddenly felt an itch on her neck. She had gotten used to this, but there was still a lingering smell of alcohol on him. Despite taking a shower, there was still a faint scent of alcohol. It seemed like he had drunk quite a lot.

Feeling exhausted, Su Shen nudged his head. Suddenly, she opened her eyes and said, “Xie Yan.”

A certain someone still didn’t look up and continued to passionately kiss her neck.

“We should go to the hospital tomorrow.”

He looked up with a frown, puzzled.

Su Shen pursed her lips and her gaze wandered. “I… I don’t know if I might be pregnant.”

    Xie Yan: “…….”

His breath paused for a sec, and it seemed like a string in his mind snapped, causing a buzzing sound.

Upon seeing him remain silent, Su Shen sat up straight and stared at him seriously, saying, “I’m not lying to you. I haven’t had my period for a week, so… it suddenly occurred to me.”

Blushing, she seemed hesitant to speak. Taking a deep breath, Xie Yan gently held her in his arms, feeling a myriad of emotions.

“We’ll go check tomorrow. Go to sleep, I won’t touch you,” he said, taking a deep breath of the sweet scent from her hair. At this moment, he didn’t know whether to be happy or worried. Happy because he and Su Shen were finally going to have a child! Worried because if she really was pregnant, all the hustle and bustle today might have an impact on the baby.

Su Shen remained silent and let him hold her as they slept. Seeing his frown, she thought he might be feeling uncomfortable. Blushing, she hesitantly extended her hand and asked, “Do… you need my help?”

“En?” Xie Yan couldn’t react momentarily, but when he saw her burying her head almost entirely under the blanket, he finally came back to his senses. He chuckled and ruffled her hair. “Where did you learn all these things?”

In her eyes, was he really so thirsty?

“No, I… I’m just afraid that you’ll be in pain,” Su Shen muffled in the blanket.

Lowering his head, he kissed her on the forehead and said gently, “I’m not in pain, as long as you’re okay.”

His gentle voice sounded in her ears; Su Shen remained silent, but her hands under the blanket tightened around his waist. Xie Yan chuckled, and without saying anything more, he held her and continued to sleep.

News of the wedding continued to spread online, and the internet was filled with congratulatory messages. There were only a few antis trying to spoil the happiness. Someone had leaked a video of the wedding, and as a result, more and more people were expressing their belief in love again.

The next day, when Su Shen went to the hospital for a check-up, Xie Yan’s mom insisted on going along. After confirming that she was already half a month pregnant, Xie Yan’s mom was overjoyed and immediately said she wanted to move in to take care of her. Su Shen didn’t really mind, but she felt that there was no need to trouble the elderly. However, Xie Yan’s mom seemed determined, and no matter how much Xie Yan opposed, it was of no use.

Knowing that she really wanted to hold her grandchild, Su Shen didn’t refuse. However, she started to regret it a bit when she had to drink those nourishing soups every day, and she couldn’t even go out normally. Even when she was nominated for the Silver Lion Award for Best Actress, she had to persuade her mother-in-law for a long time before she was allowed to attend the awards ceremony. When she saw that Xie Yan was also going, her mother-in-law gave him a long admonishment before finally relenting.

Su Shen hadn’t appeared in front of the camera for a long while. This time, she walked the red carpet with Xie Yan. As she couldn’t wear high heels, she used the long skirt of her dress to cover the part of her shoes, but this made Xie Yan look much taller than her.

As it was their first public appearance together after going public and coupled with their recent wedding, the cameras went off as soon as they stepped on the red carpet. Su Shen held Xie Yan’s arm as they walked to the center, and the host immediately asked them to come over.

“Wow, though it’s a bit late, I still wanted to say congrats! Did you two go on a honeymoon recently?” The hostess extended the mic with a smile.

There were cameras all around them. Today, Su Shen wore a fluffy pink fairy-like dress that covered her body completely. Her pregnancy wasn’t showing yet, so nothing could be seen. Upon hearing the hostess’ question, she took the mic and said with a smile, “No, I’m afraid of the cold, so we plan to wait for better weather before going on our honeymoon.”

Hearing this, the other host asked curiously, “Will you stop acting after getting married?”

Just as Su Shen was about to speak, Xie Yan suddenly said, “Planning to.”

    Su Shen: “…….”

Instantly, both hosts were in shock. Could it be that Xie Yan was planning to retire from the entertainment industry?

With limited time, the hosts could only hastily ask a few questions before letting them go. Perhaps worried that she might trip, Xie Yan kept holding her hand and would occasionally check to see if she was stepping on her dress or not.

After entering the venue, the organizer thoughtfully placed their seats together. Su Shen sat there, getting ready to scroll through her phone, while Xie Yan went to get a shawl from Xiao Zhou to cover her. He was afraid she might feel cold from the AC inside.

Ever since knowing that she was pregnant, Su Shen felt like she couldn’t walk a few steps without being watched. Moreover, Xie Yan had really not taken on any new work. He claimed it was because he wanted to be there for the birth of their child. Su Shen didn’t want to force him, and she was fine with it. Besides, behind-the-scenes investments were more profitable.

The award ceremony was being broadcasted live, and the host was already livening up the atmosphere on stage. Su Shen, on the other hand, looked down, engrossed in scrolling through her phone.

Xie Yan covered her glowing screen with his hand, whispering, “It’s emitting radiation.”

    Su Shen: “…….”

Turning around, she pulled his hand away and frowned in displeasure. “It’s so boring, I’ll just be on it for a bit. A little won’t cause any harm. Besides, if I have to keep holding back, I might end up with prenatal depression.”

He had never seen early prenatal depression before, but Xie Yan didn’t say much and reluctantly compromised, “At most for ten minutes.”

Su Shen pulled his hand and blinked pitifully, “20 minutes.”

Just at that moment, a camera swept by, and Su Shen immediately put on a smile again.

Helpless, Xie Yan smiled and sat there without saying anything further.

The awards were still being passed out on stage, and Xie Yan would have to present the Best Supporting Actor award as a guest presenter later. When he went backstage, Su Shen immediately took out her phone. It had been a long time since she had the chance to enjoy playing with her phone freely.

Since getting pregnant, Su Shen rarely went on her phone and posted on Weibo. Meanwhile, Xie Yan loved sharing his daily tidbits. There was an unwritten rule in the entertainment industry that it wasn’t good to announce a pregnancy before the first three months. Despite not making any official announcement, rumors of her being pregnant had been circulating online almost daily. This event was also the first time she and Xie Yan appeared together after going public, and the barrage of comments in the livestream was flooded about them.

Netizen A: AHHHHHHH! My Su Su has become even more beautiful!

Netizen B: To keep holding hands even when speaking, how strong is Yan ge’s possessiveness? [joy]

Netizen C: Just ate another spoonful of dog food unexpectedly!!!

Netizen D: The way Xie Yan looks at Su Shen’s so sweet! This old man’s inner fangirl heart can’t handle it!!!

Netizen E: Is it true that our idol is going to retire for the sake of his family? Please don’t scare me! [sob]

Netizen F: With a beloved wifey at home, he has no heart to act anymore. [joy]

Just at this moment, Xie Yan was already presenting the award to the winner. Afraid that he might see her using the phone, Su Shen immediately put it away and earnestly focused on the stage.

After he finished presenting the award and came back, Su Shen’s phone buzzed again, but she didn’t go check the notification. Instead, she continued to attentively watch the awards being presented on stage.

Seeing her pretending expression, Xie Yan directly took her phone from her bag. Su Shen immediately turned around and innocently whispered, “I wasn’t using it.”

Putting her phone into his own suit pocket, Xie Yan glanced at her and said, “Did you think I couldn’t see you from the stage?”

Su Shen: “……..” Should she say his eyesight is really good?

Su Shen snorted softly and said nothing. She felt that her future would be very miserable. Maybe she should just go back to her parents’ home. But then, what if her mom also insisted on making her drink nourishing soups every day?

Nuzzling her head close, he wrapped his arm around her shoulder and whispered, “It’s just ten months, even I can endure it. Why can’t you?”

With so many people around, Su Shen instantly pried his hand away. She couldn’t process what he meant at first, but once she understood, she didn’t want to bother with him anymore. How could playing on her phone be the same matter as what he was suggesting?

On the big screen onstage, clips of several nominees for Best Actress were being played. It seemed like rivals inevitably would cross paths. This time, Cen Qing and Fan Meng were both nominated. The entertainment industry was only so large, and there were only a few top actresses on the silver screen, so it was normal to encounter each other in such situations. However, Su Shen wasn’t nervous at all, perhaps because she had the support of Xie Yan sitting next to her.

The presenters, Jiang Liankai and a famous director, playfully teased all the nominated actresses. When it was Su Shen’s turn, they said very curiously, “I’ve noticed that Su Shen’s acting has improved remarkably, which is truly admirable. So, I’m curious, do you often seek advice from Xie Yan to enhance your acting?”

Hearing this, everyone in the audience burst into laughter. Facing his teasing, Su Shen looked down and said nothing. Seeing that Xie Yan had something to say, the host ran down and handed him the mic. Looking at the stage, Xie Yan said with a smile, “We exchange ideas and learn from each other to improve together. Any objections?”

“No, no, no, it’s great. But, I do think that Su Shen has much more potential. I remember you’ve come close to winning the Silver Lion Award three times, right? If Su Shen can win it, does that mean she’s better than you?” Jiang Liankai playfully instigated, enjoying the excitement of the moment.

Although Xie Yan had won two other Best Actor awards, he had always missed the Silver Lion Award whenever he was nominated, so he had never achieved the elusive triple Grand Slam. Those who knew about this inside joke laughed and playfully scolded Jiang Liankai for being mischievous, but it was all in good fun among friends.

The host was still crouching there without taking back the mic, and Xie Yan said very naturally, “She was already better than me from the start.”

As his words spread throughout the entire venue, everyone started cheering. Meanwhile, Cen Qing kept a smile on her face while clenching her fist. Only Su Shen looked down and covered her face, too embarrassed to look at the camera. She realized that Xie Yan really didn’t understand being low-key.

The people on stage were already dead and deceased from him and didn’t want to poke fun at him anymore. After seeing the award winner, Jiang Liankai finally spoke into the mic seriously, “Although many people are criticizing the new generation of actors for not being professional enough, I believe they still need time to grow. And the winner of this award, I think, is the artist who has shown the most rapid growth in the past two years!”

With that said, the director beside him suddenly said, “The winner of the Best Newcomer Award at the 53rd Silver Lion Awards is…”

“Su Shen!” Jiang Liankai led the applause while saying, “Congratulations, Su Shen!”

As the spotlight suddenly shone on her, Su Shen was taken aback for a moment. It wasn’t until Xie Yan hugged her that she snapped out of it. Holding onto him, she carefully lifted her gown and walked up to the stage.

Jiang Liankai knew that Su Shen was pregnant, so he specially came over to support her. When she received the heavy award trophy, standing in front of the mic with so many cameras and countless eyes on her, Su Shen felt a mix of emotions that overwhelmed her for a moment.

As the applause continued, Su Shen glanced at the spot where Xie Yan was sitting before speaking into the mic earnestly, “I feel that I’ve been very fortunate. Not everyone in life will have a mentor who guides them on their path, but I was lucky to have met him. Many times, I would get trapped in my own thoughts, and for the sake of a role, I couldn’t get myself out of character. He never objected to any of my ideas and would always help me choose the right path at critical moments.”

“Many people say that I’m very lucky, so I’ve been working hard to break free from the labels others give me. But later on, I realized that as long as I’ve tried my best and given my all, even if I fail, there won’t be any regrets. It’s just that I wasn’t good enough.”

“I’m actually quite timid at times, and I don’t like it when others pressure me. But he has never forced me to do anything. I must honestly say that I owe a lot of my success and this award to him,” Su Shen said as she looked down at the audience and smiled, “Thank you, my love.”

In an instant, the audience erupted in enthusiastic applause once again. Even Yao Yin and He Hua, who were sitting in the audience, were surprised. They wondered if Su Shen had taken some kind of stimulant today because her courage had grown so much. This was not the same Su Shen they knew!

After finishing her speech, Su Shen walked off the stage holding the trophy in a daze. Although she maintained a smile on her face, her mind was muddleheaded. She had no idea what she had just said. Right now, she felt completely stupefied.

Looking at her walk down from the stage, Xie Yan went forward and supported her. He was taken aback by the unexpected feeling of being favored. He felt that this moment was the most glorious in his life. He knew firsthand how thin-skinned Su Shen was, but everything that had just happened left him feeling incredulous.

Sitting in the audience, Su Shen was still in a daze. She had no idea what Xie Yan had said either. When the awards ceremony ended, the reporters swarmed in. Thankfully, He Hua called the bodyguards to ward them off. Xie Yan then carefully escorted Su Shen into the car.

Sitting in the driver’s seat, Xie Yan quickly drove the car away. It was quiet inside the car as Su Shen held the trophy in her hands, sitting quietly there. Knowing that it took her a lot of courage to say those words on stage, Xie Yan didn’t disturb her and allowed her the time to adjust her emotions.

Outside the window, the rain was pouring heavily, creating a rhythmic sound as it hit the car window. When Su Shen finally came back to her senses, her heart was still racing as she looked at the trophy in her hands. Then, she playfully waved it in front of Xie Yan. “See that? I’m better than you.”

Blushing as she said those words, she couldn’t help but notice that Xie Yan was acting a bit unusual today. Surprisingly, he didn’t tease her.

“En, I have the most amazing wife,” Xie Yan said with a smile as he continued to drive.

Knowing he wouldn’t be proper, Su Shen blushed and didn’t feel like talking to him anymore. Instead, she covered her chest to calm her racing heart. She felt that saying those words made her more nervous than receiving the award itself.

At some point, the car had already stopped outside the mansion. It wasn’t actually very far away, but Xie Yan called his mom to bring an umbrella out for them.

Outside, the heavy rain continued to pour down, washing the car windows from all directions. Su Shen was still looking out the window, while Xie Yan’s gaze fell on her flat abdomen. He then took away the trophy she was holding and rested his head on her belly, softly saying, “Our daughter will definitely be amazing too.”

Looking at the head resting on her belly, Su Shen couldn’t help but gently caressed his hair and let out a laugh. “You can’t be biased, you know. A boy would be just as great! And I’ll make sure to dress him up really nicely. I think he’ll definitely be even more handsome than you.”

Hearing this, Xie Yan frowned. “A daughter can’t be dressed beautifully?”

Su Shen choked for a moment, and in the end, she could only turn around and snorted coldly, pouting slightly, “In any case, you’re biased!”

Seeing her displeased expression, Xie Yan could only hug her waist and bury his face in her neck, taking a deep breath. “Then, let’s have a boy and a girl.”

Upon hearing that, Su Shen couldn’t help but purse her lips. She wasn’t a fortune teller, so how would she know when she would give birth to a boy and a girl? Anyway, he was just talking without experiencing the difficulties himself.

The heavy rain outside continued to pour, and when Xie Yan looked up, he met her bright eyes and whispered, “No, it’s not good to have too many children.”

Su Shen was taken aback, and when she realized what he meant, she blushed. This man had no bottom line whatsoever!

  • I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 24

    Enlightenment of Love

The two of them glided on to the dance floor, dancing gracefully to the music.

They had already danced two dances, and even with just the physical contact, Wen Le could immediately recognize that it was Zhou Kao.

Then who was the person from before…

Wen Le’s gaze involuntarily shifted towards the Joker in the purple suit.

However, the person opposite her seemed dissatisfied with her distraction. The palm of the hand resting on her back suddenly pressed forcefully. Wen Le exclaimed in surprise as she was abruptly and forcefully pushed into his familiar embrace.

*TN: Kyaaaa I love ZK’s possessiveness keke!

Wen Le’s upper body was tightly pressed against Zhou Kao’s chest, and Zhou Kao’s one arm embraced her slender waist. To the rhythm of the music, they spun in the air.

Wen Le held onto Zhou Kao’s arm tightly and looked into his eyes as they spun in the air.

The two of them faced each other, separated by two layers of masks, and irrelevant people were pushed out of their minds.

Wen Le landed, and Zhou Kao pulled her hand, leading her to spin in his embrace.

It was truly magical. The Joker in the comical orange and yellow jumpsuit danced with the Harley Quinn in the yellow jumpsuit, creating a whimsical and romantic atmosphere, like a fairytale.

The Joker in the comical clown suit had a tall figure and elegant dance moves. It was said that clothes make the man, but there were also some individuals who were blessed with natural advantages. Even if they were dressed in a sack, they could exude a kingly aura.

Just because of a momentary distraction, Wen Le had lost her lead to Zhou Kao. Zhou Kao’s skilled dancing made Wen Le feel like a puppet being manipulated.

Wen Le quickly regained her focus and reclaimed her lead.

Wen Le looked at Zhou Kao with curiosity. Since he had brought her onto the dance floor, he hadn’t said a word.

Wen Le glanced at Zhou Kao’s outfit for the evening and couldn’t help but chuckle, guessing that it was because of his comical costume.

Zhou Kao’s voice was indifferent. “What’s so funny?”

Wen Le said, “I just didn’t expect that you would dress up like this.”

    Zhou Kao asked, “Surprised?”

“Surprised,” Wen Le laughed and looked up and down at Zhou Kao, teasingly saying, “Your appearance tonight is fantastic.”

Zhou Kao said, “Don’t you think that your compliment sounds a bit too forced.”

    Wen Le burst out laughing.

“How did you come up with the idea of dressing up as a clown?” Wen Le asked.

Zhou Kao paused and replied with a somewhat awkward tone, “Because there was a special offer from the store: buy two, get free shipping, and buy three to get one free. The clown costumes were on sale, and four of them only cost $120.”

Wen Le could hardly believe it. This person who was wearing a six-figure luxury brand dress suit last night for a not-so-formal social event had suddenly become budget-conscious today. Wen Le even suspected their family had gone bankrupt overnight.

Wen Le was extremely shocked and exclaimed, “Wow!”

Zhou Kao glared at her and then added in a calm and lifeless tone, “And also because of a roommate who believes everything should be perfectly ridiculous.”

Wen Le couldn’t hold back her laughter anymore. She laughed so hard that she was shaking, and even Zhou Kao’s hand holding hers trembled along.

Wen Le was really about to die laughing. In her mind, she immediately imagined a serious and refined person like Zhou Kao being forced by a ridiculously organized roommate from their dormitory to wear this perfectly ridiculous clown costume. The expression on his face should be close to… that of a person being forced into prostitution.

Wen Le suddenly wanted to see Zhou Kao’s other three ridiculous roommates.

She turned her head and scanned the entire gymnasium, but she didn’t have to put in much effort. She quickly found Zhou Kao’s other three ridiculous roommates.

Because they were especially ridiculous, ridiculously conspicuous.

Wen Le almost immediately spotted the three clowns in the crowd, each holding a helium balloon.

They were wearing clown costumes of different colors from the same series as Zhou Kao, and each of them had a helium balloon in their hand. They looked more like clowns selling balloons at an amusement park.

Wen Le was about to die laughing. She asked Zhou Kao, “Where is your balloon?”

Wen Le looked around and, in a serious tone, reprimanded, “Your dormitory isn’t in-sync anymore.”

“I often feel like I don’t fit in because I’m not ridiculous enough,” Zhou Kao responded with a helpless expression, pointing to a railing near the backstage area.

    “It’s over there.”

Wen Le looked in the direction Zhou Kao had pointed and saw a helium balloon tied to the railing, shaped like a small yellow duck.

Wen Le asked, “Why did you put it there?”

Zhou Kao said, “Otherwise, should I hold a helium balloon in my hand while dancing with you?”

Wen le shrugged, “I don’t mind.”

Suddenly, Zhou Kao pulled Wen Le into his arms from behind, encircling her.

Caught off guard, Wen Le was tightly embraced by Zhou Kao from behind. Zhou Kao turned his head slightly, leaning closer to Wen Le’s cheek, and his warm breath brushed against her neck. Wen Le felt Zhou Kao’s arms holding her tightly, his broad and warm chest against her back. Her heartbeat paused for a moment and then raced quickly.

Zhou Kao lowered his voice and said slowly, “I do mind.”

*TN: KILL ME RN!!!! Red card for ZK!!!

His movements seemed to slow down as he uttered those three words, holding Wen Le from behind. The two of them swayed slightly on the dance floor like a couple deeply in love, with their breaths blending together, surrounded by each other’s scent.

Zhou Kao gently leaned his head closer to Wen Le’s ear, it was a subtle movement as if he instinctively sought her scent and the fragrance of her perfume. It seemed unconscious, a craving, and an infatuation.

Wen Le noticed this extremely subtle movement. She felt a tingling sensation on her scalp, and Zhou Kao’s breath near her ear became even hotter. It was almost unbearable for Wen Le, and her toes curled up slightly inside her shoes. Her breath sped up rapidly.

Neither of them spoke anymore. They silently danced, but they knew that their hearts were far from the calmness portrayed by their bodies.

They seemed unable to effortlessly chat, tease, and joke around as before. They needed time to settle certain things.

The dim environment and surreal lighting easily created a blurred and unreal sensation, resembling the space between dreams and reality.

Such a sensation easily lowered one’s guard, relaxed them, and made them lose their vigilance. Rationality gradually receded, giving in to impulses and allowing ambiguity to thrive. Deep-seated desires grew unchecked.

Wen Le felt that tonight, things might get a little out of control, but her rationality had been eroded by the surroundings to the point where she couldn’t summon the thought of stopping it.

Wen Le cleared her mind and fully immersed herself in the dance.

When the music ended, Wen Le took deep breaths, trying to steady her breathing.

Her mind was now in chaos, and she didn’t even know what dance she had just performed.

But everyone around them stopped and stared directly at her and Zhou Kao.

However, they seemed oblivious to the stares and just gazed at each other intently.

It wasn’t until applause broke out, which broke their gaze.

Wen Le looked at the crowd somewhat bewildered, not knowing what had happened.

After a while, Wen Le seemed to get the answer from the murmurs of the crowd.

It turned out that at some point, Zhou Kao had lifted her up with both hands, she had done a split in the air, and then flipped and hung on Zhou Kao…

    Crazy….

Wen Le thought, she and Zhou Kao must be crazy…

Wen Le felt that she and Zhou Kao needed to calm down.

As the dance ended, Wen Le quickly gave a courtesy, but it was ridiculous because she clearly didn’t have a skirt.

Zhou Kao also took off his hat and bowed, performing a gentlemanly hat tip.

However, just then, the host instructed everyone to stay with their dance partners in place. They would identify the mismatched CP (couple) and subject them to either a dare or a truth punishment.

When the staff pointed at Zhou Kao and Wen Le, Wen Le was taken aback and involuntarily looked at Zhou Kao.

Zhou Kao also looked at Wen Le.

Wen Le struggled to say, “Although you’re not that clown, I think we are still considered an official CP in a broad sense.”

Zhou Kao didn’t say anything; he just put his hands on Wen Le’s shoulders and pushed her onto the stage to face the punishment together.

Zhou Kao’s scorching hands had a strong presence on Wen Le’s shoulders. Wen Le tried to ignore it and shifted her focus. She said, “When you first came to ask me to dance, didn’t you think the same way?”

Zhou Kao glanced at the ring on Wen Le’s hand at an angle which Wen Le couldn’t see, but he smiled without saying a word.

*TN: ZK is so sneaky but smart!!! 😂

The two of them stood on the stage while the host continued naming people, and one by one, they walked onto the stage.

They whispered to each other quietly while on stage.

Inadvertently, Wen Le’s gaze swept over the clown in the purple outfit whom she had mistaken for Zhou Kao earlier. She couldn’t help but glance at Zhou Kao and make a comparison. She remarked to Zhou Kao, “That person, his back view looks similar to yours.”

Zhou Kao glanced casually and nodded.

Just when Wen Le thought Zhou Kao wouldn’t say anything more, he casually said, “That’s the class monitor of the Costume Design Department.”

A University only had one class in the Costume Design Department, so there was only one class monitor.

Wen Le frowned; she still felt somewhat uncomfortable about that guy, especially after witnessing him kissing the female clown in the red and blue outfit. It made Wen Le particularly uneasy.

Zhou Kao seemed to not want Wen Le to pay attention to that guy from the Costume Design Department and told Wen Le about some interesting people in the audience.

Wen Le’s gaze landed upon Zhou Kao’s dormitory mates again, and she chuckled saying, “Before you told me, I had thought the guys holding the balloons were staff members prepared by the president.”

Zhou Kao seemed to smile as well. “Indeed, your president is not incapable of doing such things.”

Wen Le glanced backstage and said, “I didn’t see the president and your student council president today.”

Zhou Kao casually said, “They went for a PK.”

    Wen Le asked, “What?”

    Zhou Kao explained to her.

The general idea was that yesterday, the president and the student council president teamed up for a game and lost in the qualifying match. They blamed each other for being bad players. To prove who was really bad, the student council president took the members of the student council, and the president of the Student Union took the members of the Student Union to a corner during the dance to secretly play games.

    Wen Le was speechless.

While they were talking, the host called up another group of people.

That classmate who was dressed as Zhu Bajie eventually formed a CP with the classmate who was dressed as Black Widow. They were called up and the girl dressed as Black Widow walked on stage dejectedly, while the Zhu Bajie classmate was quite proud.

Tang Monk and the four spider spirits also went on stage, with Tang Monk trembling as he was surrounded by the four spider spirits.

The audience below burst into laughter.

Once the host had called enough people on stage, he announced the rules.

The punishment options were truth or dare.

The host had a box in hand, containing slips of paper with truth or dare tasks written on them.

Each person could draw twice. If they didn’t want to choose the first task they drew, they could draw again. Once they drew the second time, they had to choose one of the two tasks and had no further chances.

The truth or dare tasks were controlled to a certain extent by the organizers, but they still had a hint of ambiguity.

The first person was a girl, and the truth question was, “Among the gentlemen present, who best matches your ideal type?”

The girl didn’t draw a second time and blushed, pointing to the male clown in the purple outfit in the audience.

To be honest, based on physique and temperament alone, he was really eye-catching in the crowd, and because of the mask, it was really difficult to tell him apart from Zhou Kao.

The crowd let out a good-natured laughter.

The second person drew a truth question that said, “Say the name of the girl you have a crush on.”

The guy glanced at the audience, blushed, and chose dare.

He drew a dare that said, “Apply a big red lipstick mark on a tissue and slip it into the pocket of the person in the audience who attracts your attention the most.”

As soon as the host announced this task, the audience burst into laughter.

The second guy blushed and said he would choose dare.

    Laughter erupted from the audience.

The host brought out a lipstick and a tissue.

To enhance the game effect, one of the guys in the audience was assigned to apply the lipstick on the punished person.

That guy probably had never applied lipstick on anyone before, and he ended up smudging it all over.

People in the audience burst into laughter while the guy applied the lipstick and gave instructions like, “Pucker your lips, pucker!”

The girls in the audience were about to burst into laughter.

Despite taking nearly five minutes, the lipstick was still applied terribly.

Finally, it reluctantly left a huge red mark on the white tissue.

The guy who applied the lipstick exclaimed, “Holy shit!” as he stepped back repeatedly, muttering, “Why do lipstick marks on TV look so sexy? This is just damn scary. Who would want this…?”

    Laughter filled the audience.

The punished guy, with a crooked and smudged red lip, sheepishly tucked the tissue with the huge lipstick mark into the arms of Tang Monk, who was surrounded by the four spider spirits.

Tang Monk froze, looking utterly devastated.

The audience below was also shocked.

The punished guy, feeling embarrassed, said, “I’ve been paying attention to you since you came on stage.”

Tang Monk was about to faint.

The punished guy continued, “Why do so many girls like you?”

    The audience erupted in laughter.

Tang Monk looked hopeless and said, “A good man should be faithful. I can’t handle such fortune.”

The audience was on the verge of madness from laughter.

When it was Zhou Kao’s turn, he drew the option for truth first.

“Say the name of your first girlfriend.”

The host added, “Crush is also fine, but no celebrities. It must be the name of the first girl who made your heart flutter.”

Zhou Kao’s Adam’s apple moved up and down.

Wen Le’s heart skipped a beat, and she involuntarily looked at Zhou Kao.

Zhou Kao’s voice was low and calm. He said, “Change it.”

    The host looked somewhat disappointed.

So Zhou Kao drew another one.

“Group dare, pass a candy wrapper using only your mouths.”

The host showed Zhou Kao the small, transparent candy wrapper and said, “This is a group activity that requires everyone present to participate.”

A slight frown appeared on Zhou Kao’s brow hidden behind the mask.

He didn’t even consider the second dare.

The host, seeing Zhou Kao’s silence, asked, “Which one will you choose?”

    “Wen Le.”

TN: Combusting internally right now, bye!!!!!

The host didn’t hear clearly, “What?”

Zhou Kao repeated it again, his voice calm.

“I said the first one, Wen Le.”

TN: ahhh this is such a bomb-drop!! hope you guys enjoyed this chapter as much as I did! 🎉

  • Film Empress’s Daily Face Slapping Chapter 110

    Wedding Ceremony

Recently, film censorship had become stricter, and Xie Yan’s action film also faced scrutiny due to its excessive violence. However, this had inadvertently prevented the scenario of competing for the box office with him. Once the situation eased, the film would likely have a better chance of getting approved.

It was still snowing heavily outside. Lying in bed, Su Shen lazily scrolled through her phone. Just at this moment, Xie Yan, who had just returned from the gym, entered the room, covered in sweat. Su Shen glanced at him before turning over and continuing to scroll through her phone.

Although the wedding was approaching, there hadn’t been much news circulating online. It could be seen that He Hua had put in a lot of effort behind the scenes. There definitely wouldn’t be any reporters invited to the wedding, but they had invited a good number of guests. Sometimes, it was necessary to socialize and maintain good relationships with others, as it didn’t hurt to make connections, and there was also gift money to be received.

There had been many films facing censorship issues lately, so there were fewer films part of the Spring Festival box office. The film had a good response from the premiere, and with some promotion from the production team, the word-of-mouth for the film was pretty good. Su Shen had no expectations for a high box office, so long as it did not flop. After all, it could be considered to be a semi-literary film. Thus, its box office performance would not be particularly outstanding. They could only aim for awards instead.

While scrolling through her phone, a hand suddenly appeared on her shoulder. Su Shen turned around and found herself embraced by him, blankets and all. After struggling for a moment, she immediately pushed at his shoulder. “Your hair’s still not dry, stay away from me!”

Xie Yan pressed her under him while being separated by the blanket before planting a kiss on her fair and soft face. “You didn’t say that yesterday. You clearly asked me to…”

“Shut up!” Su Shen quickly covered his mouth with her hand, blushing. “It’s clearly your shamelessness!”

Knowing that she didn’t have any work henceforth, this person had no sense of moderation at all. She asked him to finish quickly, but this shameless person just grasped onto that statement to tease her!

“Who told you to speak like that about your own husband?” Xie Yan arched a brow and stared at her face which was filled with both embarrassment and anger.

The latter simply reached out and covered his entire face, indignantly saying, “I can say whatever I want. Did I say anything wrong though?”

At that, she simply pulled the blanket higher to cover her face. “Go away quickly, I’m going to go cook. Else, you’ll have to eat takeout today!”

Seeing her completely hiding under the blanket, Xie Yan smiled but didn’t say anything. He then got up and left the room, and the person tucked inside the blanket immediately poked her head out. Seeing that there was no one there, she quickly got out of bed and went to the bathroom to wash up.

Coming downstairs, she prepared three dishes and a soup, improving a certain someone’s diet. However, Su Shen couldn’t eat too much, else she wouldn’t look good in the wedding gown later.

On Chinese New Year’s Eve, Xie Yan’s parents also returned. They had dinner outside and were caught by the paparazzi. Rumors spread that they had already met each other’s parents, hinting that good news was on the way.

After the film aired, its performance at the box office didn’t skyrocket, but it was already considered good for this kind of theme. The most important thing was that the reviews were quite positive. For Su Shen, it was already a pretty great achievement to have such a box-office performance and positive reception in her first lead role. It would pave the way for her future career on the silver screen.

Three days before the wedding, her mom asked her to come home and forbade her from meeting with Xie Yan during those three days. Her sis also shared many wedding details with her. Originally, Su Shen wanted to invite her cousin, who she had been close to since childhood, to be her bridesmaid. However, Su Ruan said that there would be many guests attending the wedding, and the bridesmaids would have to accompany and toast each table. They needed to have the courage and alcohol tolerance for it. Coincidentally, Xue Zhixin had asked to be her bridesmaid before, so Su Shen simply asked her to fill the spot.

On the day of the wedding, Su Shen woke up bright and early in the morning, freshening herself up and getting her makeup done. The makeup artist would accompany her and touch up her makeup at any time. The room was bustling with people coming and going, everyone busy with their tasks. Su Shen, however, felt a bit dizzy. She didn’t know what was wrong with her. Her period had been delayed by a week. Although her period sometimes got delayed by two or three days in the past, it had never been delayed for this long. But it was still too early to determine if she was pregnant or not.

    “Ok, ok, ok, the veil!”

Su Ruan suddenly rushed in, and after she and the makeup artist placed the veil on Su Shen’s head, she then took Su Shen’s high heels and found a place to hide them.

“These must be hidden securely. Without a big red envelope, they most definitely can’t find it!”

Su Ruan was rummaging through the drawers and cabinets, looking for a place to hide them. Meanwhile, Xi Xi, wearing a little suit, curiously approached Su Shen and tugged at her wedding gown. “Auntie, are you playing Snow White?”

Aiya, Auntie’s getting married today. She’ll give you a little brother to play with in the future,” Xue Zhixin said with a smile as she lifted Xi Xi into her arms. Xi Xi blinked innocently and said, “I don’t want a little brother. I want a little sister.”

At this, laughter echoed throughout the room. After putting the shoes away, Su Ruan came over and placed the child on the floor, giving his bottom a gentle pat. “Today, all you need to do is be a good boy and help Auntie sprinkle flowers at the front. When we go back, Mommy will give you some candy.”

Upon hearing that he could eat candy, Xi Xi immediately nodded enthusiastically. He then ran to Su Shen’s side and playfully lifted her wedding gown, thoroughly playing by himself.

When the wedding car arrived, the room couldn’t accommodate too many people, so some relatives and friends were asked to leave. Su Ruan tightly closed the door and locked it from the inside.

Yao Yin and Su Ruan were both looking out the window at the cars below, while Su Shen sat on the bed in a daze. In fact, she hadn’t fully woken up yet, and now, she was getting married.

There were some checkpoints set up downstairs. Xie Yan brought along many people, and all the girls wanted to take photos with him. He even specifically brought Wang Cheng along. After sacrificing Wang Cheng, he then handed out red envelopes along the way and finally arrived upstairs. However, the door to the room upstairs was tightly closed. Li Hao, who was a groomsman for the first time, cleared his throat and knocked on the door politely. “Open the door, we’re here to pick up the bride!”

At that, there was no response from inside the room. Some of the big guys behind couldn’t help but burst into laughter. Thinking he was clever, Zhong Quan took a few steps forward and knocked on the door, shouting loudly, “Is the most beautiful and lovely bride in the world inside?”

At that, a childish voice suddenly sounded from inside, “Yes~”

Finally, someone responded, even though it was from just a child. Just as Xie Yan was about to step up, a coaxing female voice sounded from inside, “Xi Xi, tell Uncle that you don’t have money to buy toys lately, so ask Uncle for a red envelope.”

At that, the child once again sounded, “Uncle, I want to buy toys, and I also want to buy candy. Do you have a red envelope?”

“Yes, yes, yes! Your Uncle didn’t bring anything besides red envelopes today!” Zhong Quan held a bag and happily stuffed red envelopes through the gap under the door. In any case, it wasn’t his money, so he enjoyed stuffing it the most.

“Mama says it’s too little, not enough for me to buy a toy.” The innocent and tender voice from inside made the people outside at a loss for words.

Each red envelope had 500 RMB in it and so many were already stuffed inside. Was the toy made of gold?

Seeing this, as if he had been prepared in advance, Xie Yan suddenly took out a particularly thin red envelope from his pocket and stuffed it through the door crack. “Xi Xi, can you buy a toy with this?”

After a silent pause of about ten seconds from inside, the door slowly opened, and the people outside rushed in. Most of them were big men who came to join in the fun. When they saw the bride sitting in the room, each and everyone couldn’t help but start to envy Xie Yan. With such a beautiful wife, it was no wonder that Xie Yan was so eager to get married.

“I know, it’s time to find the shoes!”

Having attended a wedding before, Sun Zhi was already familiar with the details. Last time at Jiang Liankai’s wedding, the shoes were hidden behind the bride’s gown. This time, it certainly wouldn’t be the same again.

However, despite searching for like half a day, the group of people still couldn’t find the shoes. Su Shen sat on the bed quietly, her particularly exquisite face covered by the veil; even Xie Yan couldn’t help stealing a few more glances at her.

It seemed that he was traumatized by finding shoes. He had even specifically told Su Shen not to do this and to give him a signal even if she did. But now, as he looked at Su Shen, she only maintained a smile, showing no reaction at all.

“I really gotta give it to y’all. The room is only so big, did y’all hide the shoes on the ceiling?” After searching around, Sun Zhi couldn’t help but pat Xie Yan’s shoulder with sweat covering his forehead. “Buddy, how about sacrificing your modesty and letting the bride give you a kiss?”

The people who understood the joke couldn’t help but burst into laughter. Frowning, Xie Yan looked at Yao Yin, who shrugged and said, “Don’t look at me, I don’t know anything either.”

“Okay, if you guys can recite pi to 50 decimal places within half a minute, I’ll give you guys the shoes,” Su Ruan calmly said, looking at the crowd.

Hearing this, the group of people exploded with cries.

“This is unbelievable! Mathematics is now a prerequisite for marriage. It seems like I won’t be able to get a wife in this lifetime!” Zhong Quan stepped back a few steps, feeling overwhelmed by the question.

After pondering for a few seconds, ignoring the good-for-nothings behind him, Xie Yan walked up and squatted in front of Xi Xi. Taking out a pack of candy from his pocket, he handed it to him. “Xi Xi, can you tell Uncle where Auntie’s shoes are?”

Instantly, Su Ruan’s complexion changed, and Yao Yin couldn’t help but chuckle. The look in the eyes of the group of big men toward Xie Yan suddenly became different. Henceforth, it was definitely a good idea to bring this guy along for weddings.

Taking the candy and before Su Ruan could even stop him, Xi Xi pointed at the chandelier above his head and said, “I saw Mama put Auntie’s shoes up there.”

Su Ruan shook her head helplessly. Originally, she wanted to make things difficult for Xie Yan for just a little bit. But if he had his ways, what else could she do?

The group of men was amazed as they didn’t expect them to be on the chandelier. No wonder there was a ladder outside. Getting married nowadays was really not easy.

After finally managing to retrieve the shoes, Xie Yan crouched down and personally helped Su Shen put them on. The others were cheering and some had already started taking photos.

Their studios had already officially announced their marriage today, so even if photos of them were taken, it didn’t matter much.

Throughout the whole ordeal, Su Shen didn’t say a word. When Xie Yan princess carried her, Xue Zhixin helped carry her veil and train. There were many people upstairs and downstairs, and when they saw Xie Yan carrying her down, they all cheered and shouted.

It was freezing outside. Once they got into the car, Xue Zhixin at the front pulled out a throw from her bag and let Su Shen cover herself with it. As soon as the Chinese fireworks were lit, the wedding car was the first to drive. Sitting inside the car, Su Shen felt like everything was surreal. Xie Yan, sitting beside her, quietly held her hand tightly in his.

His hand was warm. Su Shen smiled and turned to look at the scenery outside. There were many things she had wanted to say, but at this moment, she didn’t know what to say anymore.

After the car was parked, Xie Yan got out and princess carried her out. Along the way, people were taking photos. At this time, many guests had already arrived at the hotel. After Su Shen was carried into the hotel room, Su Ruan closed the door and had the makeup artist touch up her hairstyle and makeup.

The wedding ceremony still hadn’t begun yet, and Su Shen was sitting there scrolling through her phone. By this time, Xie Yan and her were dominating the Hot Search rankings. Many people they had worked with before were sending their well wishes. Every now and then, there would be new updates and photos circulating online. The picture of Xie Yan helping her put on the shoes had already been posted by someone.

Netizen A: AHHHHHH! The God and Goddess are actually getting married!!!

Netizen B: Seeing them made me believe in love again. [joy]

Netizen C: When Xie Yan was helping Su Shen put on her shoes, he looked so serious. If I had a man who would do that for me in this lifetime, I would definitely wake up from my dream laughing. [joy]

Netizen D: I unexpectedly ate a mouthful of dog food early in the morning!

Netizen E: With both parents’ looks, it’s hard to imagine how good-looking their children will be. [joy]

Netizen F: When I saw it trending, I thought it was fake. But after seeing so many people resharing it, I realized they actually got married!!!

“You’re still on your phone? The wedding ceremony is about to start!” Standing there, Su Ruan glared at her.

Putting away her phone, Su Shen blinked innocently. “I’m nervous, so I need to look at something else to distract myself.”

Looking at her like this, Su Ruan shook her head, unsure of what to say. Although her lil sis had changed a lot, she was still just a child. It’s great that there’s someone to indulge her now.

When someone outside informed them that it was almost time to go out, her dad was already waiting outside. Holding a bouquet of flowers, Su Shen held her dad’s arm as they headed toward the venue. Meanwhile, Xi Xi and another flower girl held flower baskets, ready to scatter petals at any moment.

The venue was already filled with people, and the lights were dimmed. When a beam of light shone on the red carpet, Xi Xi and the other flower girl started scattering petals slowly. The bride, wearing a pure white flawless wedding gown, was slowly walking toward the altar, holding her dad’s arm. The lighting wasn’t very bright, and the veil covering her face obscured her appearance. However, her radiant and luminous complexion couldn’t go unnoticed.

The venue was filled with the sound of a beautiful piano piece being played live. Wearing a navy blue suit with a deep blue tie, Xie Yan slowly made his way toward Su Shen. As they reached the center, a single beam of light split into two, shining on both of them. Papa Su wanted to say something, but in the end, he just held Su Shen’s hand and placed it in Xie Yan’s hand before walking away with teary eyes.

Su Shen was somewhat teary-eyed as she watched her dad’s retreating figure before composing herself and walking slowly with Xie Yan to the front where the MC was waiting.

The entire hall was filled with people, and all eyes were fixed on the couple. When they received the news, they were all surprised. In an industry where self-interest prevails, it was indeed rare to see two individuals at the peak of their careers getting married.

Si Yi was definitely a seasoned MC, having conducted hundreds of weddings. As the couple approached, he held the mic and said, “Today happens to be the 520th* wedding I’ve conducted, which shows that you two are truly destined to be together. Some encounters are coincidences from heaven, but some unions are destined by fate.”

520 – May 20th is Chinese Valentine’s Day. It also means “I love you,” as the numbers have phonetic meanings of 5 == “I”, 2 == “love”, 0 == “you”.

Standing there, Su Shen had no idea what Si Yi was saying. With so many people in the audience, their gazes felt even more intense than that of the reporters. She kept her eyes fixed on Xie Yan in front of her, while memories of their encounters flashed through her mind. She felt fortunate because, up until now, they had never quarreled. It felt as if everything was progressing naturally as if it was meant to be.

Just then, Si Yi looked at Xie Yan earnestly and said, “Mr. Xie Yan, do you take Ms. Su Shen to be your lawfully wedded wife? No matter for better or for worse, for richer or for poorer, in sickness or in health, in happiness or in sorrow, you will love her without reservation and stay devoted to her as long as you live?”

  • Film Empress’s Daily Face Slapping Chapter 109

    Affection

Seeing him staring at her, Su Shen carefully walked over while lifting the gown and blinked curiously. “Not good?”

“En… From my design perspective, it would be better to remove this sleeve. It would create an even more beautiful shape of your shoulder, and when paired with a necklace, it would enhance the sexiness of your collarbone. But… it ultimately depends on you guys’ preferences,” An Li shrugged slightly, her gaze shifting between the two.

Yao Yin, who had been standing at the side, stepped forward and scanned Su Shen from head to toe, her eyes filled with admiration. “They say a woman looks most beautiful in a wedding gown. But I also think that sleeve shouldn’t be there. Of course, what matters most is that you feel comfortable wearing it.”

Su Shen looked down and glanced at the sleeve, understanding that the sleeve could be a bit cumbersome, but having it made her feel more at ease. After all, the most important thing was that she felt comfortable in her own wedding gown.

“That looks great. No need to make any changes,” said Xie Yan suddenly, as he approached Su Shen with his eyes lowered. He gazed at her fervently and said, “Go change.”

Turning around slightly, she suddenly met his pitch-black eyes and couldn’t help but lower her gaze to look at her wedding gown again. “Why does it feel like you’re forcing yourself when you say that?”

If it looked good, why didn’t you even give a smile? And you seemed so stern too.

“So beautiful that Xie Yan can’t take his eyes off you.” Yao Yin couldn’t help but chuckle. But someone like Su Shen who’s young, beautiful, and had a great personality definitely deserved to be treated that way by a man.

Hearing this, Su Shen glanced at Xie Yan again and noticed that he was still looking at her. Immediately, she blushed and hastily gathered the hem of her gown before heading back into the fitting room.

This wedding gown weighed at least seven to eight pounds. While it looked beautiful with its layered design, taking it off could be troublesome. When Su Shen finished changing and emerged from the fitting room, she noticed that An Li and Xie Yan were still in the midst of discussing something. As she approached them, An Li smiled and said, “We will have the wedding gown delivered to you. As for the veil, we will make modifications according to your preferences and deliver it to you as well.”

At that, Xie Yan nodded before grabbing Su Shen’s hand and leaving. Su Shen had heard that many people liked to have their wedding veils made long so that they could be transformed into a dress for their future daughters, symbolizing the culmination of love. However, she had only heard about it in passing. Judging from Xie Yan’s request, it seemed like he had that idea in mind.

“Why haven’t I seen the design for your outfit?” Su Shen asked curiously as she walked beside him.

Without looking at her, Xie Yan opened the car door. Yao Yin, on the other hand, who was behind them, waved goodbye and got into her own car. After Su Shen got in, Xie Yan closed the door before walking around to the other side of the car.

It started to snow today, and even the car was covered with a layer of snowflakes. Su Shen sat in the passenger seat, watching the person next to her fasten his seatbelt, and couldn’t help but ask softly, “Why aren’t you saying anything?”

Could it be that the wedding gown was really ugly? Was Xie Yan concerned about her feelings, so he didn’t want to say it out loud?

Turning around, he met her curious gaze. Suddenly, Xie Yan reached out and grasped the back of her head, leaning in to kiss her passionately on the lips. His gaze was fervent as he said, “What do you want me to say? That you’re beautiful?”

As he spoke, he lowered his head and buried it in her neck, taking a deep breath. “But I don’t want anyone else to see.”

Su Shen’s heart skipped a beat, blushing as she pulled back. “The wedding gown is already quite conservative. Are you only satisfied if I wear something ugly?”

Whispering, the words echoed in her ear as she met his clear and innocent gaze as he said in a deep voice, “Just this once, I can tolerate it reluctantly.”

“Then, hurry up and take me to the airport,” Su Shen pursed her lips and nudged his shoulder.

The latter, however, remained motionless and nibbled on her neck. “Can you stay with me today?”

Hearing this, Su Shen’s expression changed slightly. It was the first time that Xie Yan had been so direct, but…

Holding onto his warm hand, she whispered, “After I finish filming this drama, I’ll be with you every day.”

Xie Yan remained silent for a few seconds before eventually sitting upright and slowly stepping on the gas pedal. Sitting beside him, Su Shen quietly watched his distinct side profile. Deep down, she almost caved in, but her role in this drama was too significant. If she were to delay even for a day, it would affect the progress of the rest of the cast. Hence, she really had to return to set.

As the car stopped outside the airport, Su Shen could only turn around to look at the man beside her and said, “Actually, I…”

“Go,” said Xie Yan, holding her slightly cool hand with a tender gaze. “I’ll come to see you in a couple of days.”

As their eyes met, Su Shen blinked before looking down to push the door open. As the cold wind entered the car, she stepped out. However, as if she remembered something, she knocked on the car window again.

As the car window rolled down, Su Shen saw the puzzled face inside. She suddenly lowered her head and whispered a few words to the person inside before quickly putting on her cap and entering the airport.

Looking at the hurried figure disappear from sight, Xie Yan slowly came back to his senses. Remembering the words she had just said, he couldn’t help but chuckle.

After returning to set, Su Shen had to film night scenes. Her role had a lot of screen time, so she often worked until two or three in the morning. Finally, a few days before the Chinese New Year, she wrapped up filming. Xie Yan had come to pick her up on the day of the wrap. As she got into the car, she felt her body loosened up. Finally, she could take a break and rest for a while.

Unfortunately, her luck wasn’t great. The Republic of China era film directed by Director Li was still stuck in censorship review. It was said that some parts were still deemed too sensitive, and they had to make cuts to certain scenes. It was certain that the film wouldn’t make it to the Spring Festival box office. However, the modern revenge movie directed by Director Xu was on track for its scheduled release. The post-production for this type of movie was shorter. Everyone wanted a piece of the lucrative Spring Festival box office.

There was a premiere a few days ago, but Su Shen was too busy with filming and didn’t have time to attend. There were even rumors online accusing her of being a diva, but she had decided to not care about such things anymore.

“When are your parents returning? My mom said she wants us all to have a Chinese New Year’s Eve dinner together,” she put down her phone and looked at the man driving beside her.

The night was pitch black, and heavy snow was falling from the sky. There were only a few vehicles speeding along the road at this time. Hearing this, Xie Yan couldn’t help but slightly turn around and arched his brow. “My parents?”

As their eyes met, Su Shen immediately blushed and turned away embarrassedly before saying softly, “I… I meant our parents.”

Looking at her slightly red ear, Xie Yan smirked and continued driving before saying insipidly, “They will return tomorrow evening and most likely will join us for dinner.”

At the thought of their upcoming wedding in just over ten days, Su Shen felt that time was passing by so quickly. In a blink of an eye, Chinese New Year was already approaching. Xie Yan and her had been together for almost two years.

Looking at the heavy snow falling outside the window, Su Shen remained silent, turning to the side and gazing at the scenery quietly.

When the car stopped outside the mansion, Su Shen then snapped out of her thoughts and pushed open the door and got out. She held an umbrella and walked over to Xie Yan’s side. The latter naturally reached over her shoulder to take the umbrella, holding it up high as they entered the mansion together.

Upon entering, Su Shen’s cold hands immediately reached out to hold Xie Yan’s hand. “It’s so cold!”

After closing the door, the dazzling lights above shone brightly. She was wearing a thick down coat, completely wrapping her whole body up, as well as a cap. Her fair complexion was pale due to the cold. Seeing her hold his hand, Xie Yan held her waist and pulled her to the wall with one hand removing her cap. His gaze was fervent. “Do you want to warm up?”

As their eyes met, Su Shen was momentarily taken aback. Once she understood his words, her face turned red once again. “What… what are you saying!”

“What did I say?” He leaned in and whispered softly in her ear, “I was just asking if you want to turn up the temperature. What were you thinking?”

Noticing that he was becoming more and more mischievous, Su Shen immediately widened her eyes and pressed her cold hands against his face. “I didn’t have any improper thoughts! It’s just that you’re the one being unscrupulous!”

Her lips pursed, devoid of any color due to the cold. Xie Yan pulled her hands down and arched a brow. “If you say I’m unscrupulous, wouldn’t it be a waste if I didn’t do anything?”

Before Su Shen could even react, her lips were suddenly sealed by his, engulfing her in his burning male pheromones that overwhelmed all her senses…

Feeling soft-hearted as she thought about how he had been busy with wedding preparations for the past few months, Su Shen wrapped her arms around his neck and responded slowly, following his lead.

Sensing her response, the flame within Xie Yan’s heart instantly ignited. He swiftly unbuttoned her coat and princess-carried her, taking strides toward the stairs. Though the night was pitch-black, it failed to mask the passionate ambiance within the room…
