  • I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 8.2

    To decline royalty

Although Sun Youmei’s boyfriend was bought into a diploma mill* by his family, he doesn’t go to class. He drove around with his friends all day long, exploring the world and playing around.

*diploma mill sells college diplomas that require little or no academic work

Cheng Hui panicked a little, “Maybe it’s just that we are too responsible, or we just can’t see her going astray. It just feels quite scary seeing her like this. But when we advise her she doesn’t like to listen either, and acts like we’re jealous of her and says some unlucky things. Yet, we can’t just watch her…I always think her boyfriend is unreliable. She won’t be going back to the dormitory to sleep tonight again…”

Wen Le was silent for a moment when she heard the words, then said “Until this kind of thing hasn’t happened, no one can tell for sure. If she still doesn’t come back tomorrow, then we’ll contact the guidance counsellor.”

“Yes, I have got to contact the guidance counsellor,” Cheng Hui said a little irritably, “But she will blame us for complaining about her when she comes back. F*ck! We must be really d*mn blind to be concerned, we shouldn’t care about her at all!”

Wen Le laughed out loud when she heard these words. It was not for no reason that Cheng Hui had such a good reputation amongst the girls. Wen Le smiled and kissed Cheng Hui on the face, “Our dorm leader is very kind indeed, hahaha!”

Cheng Hui touched her face swiftly, and sure enough, she saw a touch of red on her fingers. She couldn’t help being annoyed and stretched out to hit Wen Le on the arm, “Annoying, you’re so annoying! Don’t you know if your lipstick will leave a mark or not, what kind of lipstick is this!”

Wen Le smiled and avoided her beating, when her phone suddenly sounded, signalling a text message.

Wen Le took it out and had a look, then showed some doubt in her eyes.

Cheng Hui leaned forward and asked, “What?”

Wen Le said, “The courier has arrived, but I haven’t bought anything recently.”

Just as she was trying to think who the courier came for, the phone rang again, and it was Aunt Yu.

As soon as Wen Le saw the call, she knew who the courier was from. She gave Cheng Hui a gesture and picked up the phone,

    “Hello, Ah Yi*.”

*Ah Yi = Aunt in Chinese. In chinese culture, the younger generation normally addresses the older generation as auntie/uncle regardless of whether they are related by blood.

Aunt Yu’s voice came from the earpiece, “Lele, have you received the express from Ah Yi?”

Sure enough, it was Aunt Yu, and Wen Le replied, “I got it already.”

    “What’s your weight today?”

    “90.25”

    Wen Le replied, “90.25*.”

*assuming 90.25 is in jin/catty, it approximates to 54.15kg.

Aunt Yu remarked,  “Lele’s weight control has always been very good. Have you exercised recently?”

Wen Le said, “No, there are a lot of things going on since school just started, and there has been no time to exercise.”

Aunt Yu replied, “Then you must remember to exercise on time once you are done with this busy period. You still have to rely on exercise to stay in shape. Ah yi still recommends you to sign up for a dance or yoga class, so that you won’t be bored by yourself and not be consistent in exercising.”

Wen Le said, “Okay Ah yi, if there are fewer classes this semester, I will sign up for a class.”

Aunt Yu asked again, “What type of food do you like to eat recently?”

Wen Le replied, “Recently there have been more gatherings, so more barbecues and the like, and some heavy flavours.”

“Is there acne on your face? You better use the things Ah yi mailed to you well, you have to take good care of your skin. Your diet should be lighter…”

When Wen Le hung up the phone, Cheng Hui said, “Your Ah yi mailed you something again?”

    Wen Le nodded.

Cheng Hui said: “Aw,  I also want to have an Ah yi like that.”

Although Wen Le grew up in the mountains, she had never lacked beautiful clothing since she was a child.

Aunt Yu used to be Wen Le’s favourite aunt in her childhood, because every time Aunt Yu came, she would bring her all kinds of beautiful clothes.

When she was a child, Wen Le never thought about why Aunt Yu would bring her nice clothes every time. Later when she was older, Wen Le learned from the grandfather-butler that Aunt Yu was their tailor.

It was also at that time that Wen Le learned that a butler was in the same line of profession as a tailor. Before that, she had always thought that the grandfather-butler’s surname was “Guan*”.

*butler is called “guan jia” in chinese, so Wen Le had thought that was his name literally and that his surname was “guan” LOL

Then as she grew up, Wen Le came into contact with more people and discovered something unique in their family.

Although their family stayed in a big house, they lived in the mountains. Although their family had butlers, tailors, and cooks, they seemed to be family members living together, and their family seemed to have no money to pay their salaries.

*TN: how can this be Wen Le…..sometimes I really doubt her intelligence hahaha

So when she got older, Wen Le finally understood. Her family was actually a group of stubborn, declining nobles who lived in the mountains and indulged in the glamorous life of the old society.

A shabby, but strong-faced wretch who struggled to maintain the glamorous lifestyle of the past.

Wen Le had come to this understanding, but she came to pity the situation more and more. After all, it was all the fault of poverty.

This kind of idea did not make Wen Le feel inferior, but instead allowed her to evolve into having an ambitious and self-motivated fighter-like existence.

She was just probably a weirdo.

Wen Le and Cheng Hui moved a large box back to the dormitory, and the next step was the happiest moment –  unpacking the package.

Clothes, perfumes, cosmetics, and even bags and shoes were all packed in such a box, which showed how big this box was.

The clothes were all in Wen Le’s style. Cheng Hui unfolded a long dress. It was a fiery red long dress, and its fabric was slightly thicker. The shoulder and waist lines were outlined beautifully, and the long skirt was layered at the lower end, blooming like a rose.

Faced with such a dress, even if it was the tough guy style like Cheng Hui, she couldn’t help exclaiming,

“Wow! Lele, your aunt’s vision is simply amazing. My god, it’s so beautiful. If you go out in this dress, you will have to hire loads of bodyguards. I’m afraid the boys in our school will go crazy!”

Wen Le’s gaze was also attracted by the dress, and murmured, “Indeed…It’s so beautiful…”

“But isn’t it not suitable for wearing at school?” Wen Le said.

Cheng Hui said, “You can wear it on a date. When you have someone you fancy one day, you can wear this dress to find him. I guarantee that he will bow down at your red dress and sing praises the next moment, hahaha.”

    Wen Le also laughed.

At this moment, the dormitory door was pushed open, and the two turned their heads, only to see Sun Youmei walking in.

Sun Youmei’s gaze was immediately attracted by the red dress in Cheng Hui’s hands, and then fell on the big box that Wen Le brought back, a trace of contempt flashed in her eyes.

Sun Youmei sauntered to the desk, took something and put it in her bag, and said, “Came back to get something, you guys can continue.”

    After speaking, she left.

Sun Youmei closed the dormitory door and rolled her eyes. She thought of Wen Le’s big solid-color courier box without a logo, and sneered disdainfully, muttering in a low voice, “Cheap goods.”

TN: who’s the one carrying the fake A-grade goods….cough cough

Wen Le always brought back such a box every once in a while since she started college. The boxes were always full of clothes and bags. Her clothes were good-looking, but when Sun Youmei asked what brands they were from, Wen Le would reply that they were not branded goods.

And there were indeed no brand logos on those clothes and bags.

Sun Youmei also thought of Wen Le’s background. The poor ghosts who came out of the mountains, where did they have the money to get such good clothes?  Hopefully, they weren’t either donated by others or scoured from the second-hand market.

Tsk tsk, how would these poor people know that if one dressed cheaply, then they would also become cheap.

Looking at the bag worth tens of thousands in her hand, Sun Youmei smiled in satisfaction and walked away.

    Dangerous

These kinds of variety shows liked to make gimmicks the most, even if there was nothing going on between two people, they would edit the footage to make you guys into a cp. Moreover, there was a scandal between her and Jiang Yin before, so the production team would definitely try their best to make them appear in the same frame. No matter whether there was chemistry or not, they would edit it to make it appear as so.

In the past, she didn’t have to worry about anything since she was single, but now that she was dating Xie Yan, even if it was done during post-production, if she still permitted this kind of hype at this time, it was disrespectful to Xie Yan.

“I know what to do. After all, you will go public with Xie Yan in the future. If we do this kind of thing now, it will be more difficult for Xie Yan’s fans to accept you in the future.” Liu jie said seriously, “Don’t worry, I’ll talk to the production team. But, there must be some kind of gimmick for these kinds of variety shows. Without a breaking point, you have to dip your hands into something else.”

Liu jie’s tone was flat and calm, but Su Shen knew that she was digging for her talents and wanted to see if she had anything else to attract fans.

“I know calligraphy.” She said insipidly.

Hearing this, Liu jie, at the front, smiled, “Okay.”

The outstanding talents of guests were also a highlight of the show. The production team had heard that she and Wang Qingzhou were both good at cooking, so they set up a game segment like before. If Liu jie was to go tell the show that she could do calligraphy, they would definitely set up a segment for her to present her skills.

It was all scripted. Su Shen, however, didn’t mention that she could paint because it couldn’t be said nor kept hidden. However, calligraphy was easy to hide. The original Su Shen had lived with her maternal grandfather when she was little, and he had been obsessed with mastering calligraphy. Thus, the original Su Shen had learned a little bit when she was a child, but it was really only a little. Her grandfather had passed away, and since the original Su Shen hadn’t shown this in front of her parents often, no one knew how well her calligraphy was.

When she got home, Su Shen went to pack up her clothes since she was going on set tomorrow. It was an action filled drama, so scrapes would be inevitable. She could only bring more disinfectant, gauze, and bandaids.

Thinking of Xie Yan’s long flight, Su Shen didn’t send him a message. The next morning, the chauffeur picked her up and drove her to the filming site. As there were no popular artists in this drama, there were few paparazzi waiting outside, and the opening ceremony was over very quickly.

The first scene was to pursue a fugitive. Originally, Su Shen was very excited, but when she saw the elevation from where she was standing, her back broke into a cold sweat.

“Su Shen, you have to jump from that floor to the second one later. Remember to roll on the ground before standing up.” With a cigarette in his mouth, the Director pointed at the floor which was more than ten meters high in front of him and said, “Don’t be afraid. There’s a stunt harness. But if you can’t, we’ll prepare a body double for you.”

The Director had thought that such a delicate girl would definitely not be able to do such a dangerous stunt, so he had prepared a body double in advance. But this was not surprising. Filming this kind of action filled drama, everyone would use a body double for some dangerous stunts. Not using any body double in this industry, only a few retired veteran stuntman actors had done so.

Su Shen looked up at the towering floor. If she were to fall, at least one of her arms would be broken. After staring at it for a while, she took a deep breath and suddenly turned to the Director, “I don’t need a body double.”

At that, the Director looked at her in surprise and then nodded, “Okay, go to the Movement Director and practice the stunt for a bit.”

Hearing this, Su Shen took her script and walked back. It was a residential building, and the surroundings were reserved for filming. The staff were busy arranging the props, including the vehicles and prop guns.

This was a crime drama, where the female lead was an interpol and the male lead was a police officer. Moreover, he was also the female lead’s superior. However, because he offended the underworld due to a case, the other party set a trap to frame him as a killer. Because of some matters, the male lead had no choice but to escape. Furthermore, he knew an important witness to the case. The whole plot of the drama was based on this case. The scene today was the beginning of the female lead’s chase of the fugitive. Along the way, she obtained an important trunk. However, no one knew what was the use of the things in the trunk. The male lead, however, hid it. This trunk was super important to the villain of the drama; so the plot began.

The Movement Director of this drama had won an award before. He specifically taught Su Shen some particulars of rolling on the ground and holding a gun, including how to fight. But in the middle of teaching, Li Hao came over.

“Su Shen, I heard that you don’t want a body double?” He looked a little solemn. Remembering Xie Yan’s imploration, if anything happened to Su Shen, he wouldn’t know how to explain it to him.

The Movement Director glanced at the two of them and left, perhaps because he had other matters to tend to.

With a prop gun in her hand, Su Shen practiced loading the gun, “Yep, what’s wrong?”

There were people coming and going around, and they were all very busy. There were some supporting actors also practicing their fighting movements, and there were also a lot of extras. Li Hao looked around and grabbed her arm, pulling her all the way to a place where residents parked their bikes in the residential building.

He was wearing the costume police uniform and pointed at the building exaggeratedly, “You want to die? If you break an arm or leg, Xie Yan’s gonna ask me to compensate!”

    Su Shen: “…….”

She smiled dismissively and shoved the prop gun into her pocket, “It’s not that serious. Isn’t there also a stunt harness? You didn’t use a body double as well, no?”

There were so many layers of protective measures, so there would definitely be no mishaps. Moreover, she couldn’t possibly always use a body double since there were so many action scenes in this drama. Her reputation of poor collaboration would certainly spread in the industry.

“Our skin’s rough and thick, so it’s not a worry. If you were to break something, how can I explain it to Xie Yan?” Li Hao’s expression gradually became more and more solemn, as if he was talking about something important.

    Su Shen: “…….”

She blinked and smiled in surprise, “Hao ge, you’re exaggerating. It’s normal to knock or bump into something when filming. Sometimes you’ll also cut your hand when cooking. Don’t worry, as long as you don’t tell Xie Yan, he definitely won’t know.”

After saying that, Su Shen immediately went over after hearing the Director call roll-call.

Li Hao felt a headache and didn’t know what to say. He could only call Xie Yan and tell him, but there seemed to be no signal over there, as the call didn’t get accepted after calling for what seemed to be the longest time ever.

He had no choice but to send a message to Xie Yan, telling him that his girlfriend insisted on jumping off a building and couldn’t be stopped.

Just at this time, Su Shen had already gone up to the rooftop and was in a stunt harness. Later, she would need to jump to another rooftop. The distance between the two rooftops was five or six meters, but since she was tied up in a wire stunt harness, there shouldn’t be a mishap.

“Su Shen, are you ready?” The Director shouted into a loudspeaker down below.

Hearing this, Su Shen immediately made an OK gesture. When the Director called action, a drone flew towards her. Just in time, Su Shen stepped onto the edge of the rooftop and jumped down after taking a deep breath!

It was not until her waist tightened and the wire slowed her down that she rolled onto the floor. She took out her gun and aimed it straight at the fugitive that was running away in front of her, “Stop!”

Suddenly, a camera panned over and gave her side profile a close-up. The Director immediately shouted, “Cut!”

Instantly, Su Shen rubbed her aching arm, but she didn’t dare to look down. She was actually really afraid, but it was alright after taking the first step forward.

When she went downstairs, the Director sat in front of the monitor and motioned for her. Su Shen immediately walked over, and Li Hao was also staring at the monitor, seemingly watching her performance just now.

Seeing her coming, the Director frowned and said conscientiously, “Su Shen, you were still a little hesitant when you jumped down, and the rolling movement was too slow. Can you see if you can do it again?”

Although he knew that Director Zhou liked to constantly improve, Li Hao couldn’t help interjecting, “It’s better to use a body double. Su Shen doesn’t seem to be quite skilled yet, let her get used to it first. Such a hard action scene, it’d be hard for us men to get it right on the first try, let alone a girl.”

Li Hao was very professional. He would never use a body double unless it was a very dangerous action scene. The Director hadn’t expected him to say such words, so he turned to look at him, but understood when he remembered that these two knew each other.

“No, I’ll do it again.” Su Shen massaged her wrist and stretched her neck twice in opposite directions.

Seeing this, Li Hao was about to say something when the Director quickly asked Su Shen to go up and prepare.

But just when Su Shen was about to go up to the rooftop again, Xiao Zhou trotted towards her with her phone in hand, “Su jie, you have a call!”

  • Film Empress’s Daily Face Slapping Chapter 51

    Farewell

Liu jie had heard from Su Shen that Xie Yan was going to Africa today. But, she didn’t expect for her to see Xie Yan off. Did she think that this was an idol drama, to see someone off at the airport?

Her expression immediately changed and said solemnly, “Do you know how many paparazzi are waiting outside? You still want to see him off? Even if there’s no paparazzi, there’s no need to see him off at the airport. He’s not a child.”

Knowing that the two of them were still clingy, Liu jie held her arm and softened her tone of voice, “I know you guys’ relationship is great right now, but it’s not like you can’t see him again. When you have the time, you can go to Africa to see him. Why delay other things just for a little time?”

Hearing this, Su Shen frowned again, “I know, but I still want to have a few words with Xie Yan.”

If Xie Yan asked her to see him off, then naturally she would do so. Compared with an exclusive interview, he was definitely more important.

“Up to you.” Seeing that she couldn’t persuade her, Liu jie just let her go, “I’ll wait for you for ten minutes. If you don’t come back in ten minutes, I’ll cancel the interview for you.”

“Got it.” Su Shen nodded and then grabbed her phone from Liu jie’s hand and sent a message to Xie Yan.

When she found that he was still in the lounge, she immediately turned around and walked toward it.

When she arrived at the lounge, Li Hao was talking to Xie Yan, and He Hua had gone to who knows where. Seeing Su Shen come, Li Hao got up at once and thumped Xie Yan’s shoulder with a snicker, “This 2000 watt lightbulb won’t disturb you guys.”

Hearing his teasing, Su Shen couldn’t help but blush. When Li Hao walked out, he closed the door on the way.

When they were the only two left in the lounge, Su Shen took out her phone from her coat and looked at the time, “You’re still not leaving yet?”

The airport was quite far from here. If there was a traffic jam on the road, there wouldn’t be enough time.

Taking a few steps forward to meet her, Xie Yan looked down and caressed her soft hair, saying, “Why are you urging me to leave?”

    Su Shen: “……”

With her eyes wide open, a hint of helplessness flashed past her ivory face, “Stop joking now. Let’s go, I’ll send you.”

Just as she said that, the door was suddenly pushed open, and He Hua suddenly walked in. When he saw the two of them inside, he was also taken aback. Then, he rolled up his sleeves and pointed at his watch, motioning to Xie Yan that there was not much time left.

“You send me, I still have to send you back.” Xie Yan caressed her soft face with fervent eyes, “I’m leaving, remember to eat well.”

Seeing him leave with He Hua as soon as he finished speaking, Su Shen wanted to say something but ultimately kept it in her mouth. She could only follow him out and watch as his and He Hua’s figure gradually disappeared at the corner of the corridor.

Standing there for a while, Su Shen had a somewhat perplexed expression on her face. It was said that when you liked someone, you would miss him all the time. But why did she already start missing Xie Yan as soon as he left…

    “Su jie, you’re still here?”

Just at this moment, Xiao Zhou rushed over. Seeing her standing there alone, she peered into the lounge, “Where’s Xie laoshi?”

“He left.” Coming back from a daze, Su Shen looked at her, “Let’s go. Liu jie asked you to call me, right?”

Nodding, Xiao Zhou just said that the time for the exclusive interview was soon and told her to go over as soon as possible. Hearing this, Su Shen asked her to lead the way.

Seeing that she hadn’t gone to see off Xie Yan, Liu jie didn’t ask further. She said a few words to the reporter, and the latter immediately asked the cameraman to adjust the angle.

This was a room that had just been tidied up. Su Shen sat on the chair wearing her thick coat, and after the cameraman finished adjusting the angle, she introduced herself to the camera, and the female reporter began the interview.

“After watching the whole movie just now, what do you think of your performance?”

Facing the camera that was aimed straight at her, Su Shen smiled and answered conscientiously while holding the microphone, “I don’t know what others think, but I can only give myself six points of ten. I still feel that I didn’t have enough time to prepare, and there were many places where I didn’t act so well. I’m not satisfied with my performance in this role.”

When she awoke in this body, there were only two days left before going on set. At that time, she was still adapting to her new identity and didn’t have much time to familiarize with the script, so she felt that her performance wasn’t that good.

“Are you very strict with yourself?” The female reporter asked with a smile.

At this, Su Shen just smiled, “Not really, I just want to do my best, so that I won’t have regrets in the future.”

As her words fell, the female reporter looked down and wrote something before asking, “Do you think this role is hateful?”

Speaking of this, Su Shen pondered for a bit again, “As the saying goes, those who are pitiful must have a hateful cause for having sunk to their lows. Likewise, those who are hateful must have a pitiful cause for having sunk to their lows. No one is born evil, and so is this role, a villainess. She had the same enemy as the male lead, so she helped him kill his enemy. Perhaps the audience will not hate on this person, but feel that she has helped the male lead. However, if this villainess interfered with the interests of the male lead, then everyone would naturally feel that she was very evil.”

“The most hateful part of this role was that she jeopardized the relationship between the male and female leads. But from another perspective, what she had done was all just to protect her little brother and the male lead, but the movie did not portray these things. Instead, it guides people to ponder and unearth the truth. In my opinion, she was too selfish. She didn’t consider other people’s feelings and did not learn how to let go. But often in the eyes of the audience, this was already very evil.”

At that, the female reporter nodded and said with a smile, “It seems that you have thoroughly analyzed this role. Do you feel unhappy when some say that your acting is poor then?”

Hearing this, Su Shen just chuckled, “Everyone has different opinions on acting. If someone says it’s poor, it means that I still have room for improvement. I also feel that my performance wasn’t as good, but I will continue to work hard to improve and enrich myself.”

It was a very strategic response. The female reporter nodded and continued to ask, “There’s a rumor online that you will collaborate with Director Li and have beat Tang Xuan for a role. What do you think of this rumor?”

The female reporter’s words were already very euphemistic. In the end, the question she wanted to really ask was whether she had snatched a role from Tang Xuan or not. However, Su Shen did not give a strategic response this time, rather, she looked straight at the camera in all seriousness, “I don’t think I have beat anyone. Tang Xuan laoshi has always been a senior that I really like. Actually, not only my friends, but Director Li and the scriptwriters all thought that I may not be suitable for this role. During the audition, Tang Xuan laoshi had even encouraged me. I think everyone should give everything a try. I’m really grateful to Director Li for giving me a chance to try. I dare not say that I will perform better than Tang Xuan laoshi, but I will try my best to give the audience a different portrayal.”

At that, the reporter stopped before going too far, and instead, changed the topic, “Everyone says that you are the Mr. Handsome reaper. Among all the male artists that you’ve worked with, who is more of your ideal type?”

Hearing this, Su Shen chuckled again and pondered for a moment before holding up the microphone and saying, “I think each of them have their own good. If we combine all of their strong points together, then it’ll be perfect.”

“What do you think are Xie Yan’s weak points then?” The reporter asked.

Su Shen chuckled again and pondered before saying, “He’s rather slow to warm up to, like me, but he’s usually very courteous, so that’s why I was afraid to go over the script with him in the beginning, but it was better as we got closer.”

Su Shen didn’t say anything wrong. At the beginning, Xie Yan indeed didn’t like to talk much and was quite introverted, seemingly difficult to get close to. But after they got closer, she found that he was actually very considerate, and it was hard to resist him when he took the initiative sometimes.

“It could be seen that he’s slow to warm up to.” The reporter said with a laugh.

The following questions were about the movie and were answered accordingly. Ten minutes later, when the exclusive interview was over, Liu jie was there speaking with the reporter seemingly about the article.

The promotional drafts of articles about celebrities needed to be reviewed first to avoid any content that was disadvantageous to the artist. If a news site wanted to publish the promotional article, they needed to discuss it with the artist’s team first. Naturally, the premise was that both parties had a good relationship. Otherwise, if the other party did anything to the contents of the interview, it would also have an impact on the image of the artist.

After Liu jie was finished talking with her, Su Shen then followed her out. The paparazzi outside had mostly dispersed. She had to go on set again tomorrow, so Su Shen had to go back to pack today.

Inside the car, she was scrolling through the comments online. There were indeed a lot of people commenting that her acting was great, and naturally, there were some who said that she bought a water army. However, there was a well-known film critic who had discussed the movie, and it was obvious that they had just watched it. The reputation of this film critic was pretty good, and they had listed the pros and cons of the movie. They had also mentioned her acting and had even praised her highly.

Su Shen understood that it was because her performance had been so lackluster before that even a little improvement now was good in the eyes of others.

Yet, what was trending on Hot Search was her kiss scene with Xie Yan.

Netizen A: After watching today’s movie premiere, I noticed that Yan ge’s kissing skill is so bad, to not even include a French kiss. Thumbs down!

Netizen B: AHAHAHA! He didn’t even extend his tongue. [ROFL]

Netizen C: Su Shen’s acting is super good. If I hadn’t seen the movie, I wouldn’t have believed that the person in it was Su Shen. [joy]

Netizen D: I also think that Su Shen’s acting is better than that of Fan Meng’s. I’m not crazy, I’m just stating the facts. [joy]

Netizen E: Miss Su must’ve spent a lot of money buying a water army, no? To actually say that your acting is better than Fan Meng’s, why don’t you just say that the next Oscars’ Best Actress is you? [smiley face]

Netizen F: Why don’t the antis just accept the truth? Looking forward to seeing the public screening slapping the antis in the face. [smiley face]

Netizen G: Not mentioning anything else, at least Su Shen hadn’t had plastic surgery. But look at the stiffness of Fan Meng’s face, she could be Wang Cheng’s mom if they stood next to each other. [joy]

This was only the effect of a small scale screening, and when the public screening of the movie aired, Xie Yan’s fans would definitely go crazy. After scrolling through the comments, Su Shen couldn’t differentiate which comments were real and which were bought by the company. Fortunately, the public screening was only some ten days away. At that time, she would definitely be attacked by Xie Yan’s fans again.

“Remember that you have to shoot the second episode of the variety show this Friday. I heard that the production team of the show had invited several guests this time, among them were Jiang Yin, Mu Yao, and Yang Zhi. They must’ve spent a lot of money. It’s inevitable that being in the same frame would draw comparison, so you can’t let them steal your limelight.” Liu jie suddenly said as she sat in the passenger seat.

Hearing that, Su Shen, who was playing on her phone, was also taken aback. She looked out the window at the incessantly flashing scenery and said, “You just need to ensure that the production team does not hype a cp.”

Sun Youmei slammed the cabinet door twice, her voice so aggrieved that she cried, “What the heck! Why do all of you keep bullying me?”

Rest of the people in the dormitory: ?

After speaking, she kicked the cabinet door, and without regard for the confused eyes of the others in the dormitory, turned around and ran out of the dormitory. The dormitory door was thrown open violently.

Rest of the people in the dormitory: !

Bao Xiaofan’s eyes opened wide in shock. She threw her mobile phone on the bed, got up, and started complaining about Youmei while putting on her shoes.

She was about to give chase while saying, “What the f*ck? What does she mean, trying to be shameless here, is she? Blaming others for bullying her for the key that she lost herself, I’ll be damned! If she doesn’t explain herself today, she shouldn’t even think of entering this door…”

Cheng Hui and Wen Le hurriedly caught up, and even dragged Bao Xiaofan back with a hug. Bao Xiaofan’s eyes had turned red in anger, “What the hell, who bullied who? She alone bullied us all in the dormitory and we still have to be wronged by her.”

Wen Le hugged Bao Xiaofan’s waist, passed her hands under her armpits and stretched out to pat Bao Xiaofan on the chest, whispering gently, “Don’t be angry, let’s not be angry ah~”

Cheng Hui spit out, “Okay, okay, what can you do if you chase after her? Scold or fight with her? She is shameless, but you can not follow her to be shameless too?”

Bao Xiaofan took a deep breath and slowly exhaled, “Aiyo, this bad temper of mine.”

Man Qingxuan turned and glanced back, and said, “But…She doesn’t seem to have taken any books either. Don’t tell me that she won’t be going to class in the afternoon again?”

    “Whatever suits her.”

In the afternoon, Lao Yang did the roll-call in class, and Sun Youmei really did not turn up.

Lao Yang closed the roll-call and said, “For those who haven’t turned up for the roll-call twice, you won’t have your usual grades this semester.”

Lao Yang’s gaze swept across the students, and the pen in his hand tapped twice on the cover of the roll-call sheet, “In addition, I want to talk to your guidance counsellor.”

Suddenly, there was a rustling noise of discussion in the class, and the people in the dormitory couldn’t help but look at each other, yet they too didn’t know what to say about this situation.

They were not malicious to Sun Youmei. She was just a little irritating sometimes, but ultimately, it was just some small conflicts. It was impossible for people to get along without some conflicts. Interacting and getting along with each other were just processes of getting to know each other better. No one was perfect. There was no need to speak ill of each other and spread malice. Superficial harmony was the hypocrisy of adults and a way for adults to spread goodwill in the world.

After hesitating for a moment, Cheng Hui eventually still took out her mobile phone and sent a message to Sun Youmei.

[The teacher has done the roll-call, and wants to deduct your usual grades, in addition to contacting the guidance counsellor. Do you want to ask the guidance counsellor for leave in advance?

The message was sent out, but no reply was received even after a long while.

Cheng Hui glanced at the other roommates and shook her head.

After class, Wen Le received a call from the xuejie of the student union of the college.

*xuejie = senior sister in school

“Wen Le, the teacher has read the draft you wrote for hosting and said it’s great. I will send you the list of guests who are sure to attend the party later, and you can add it to your script…You don’t know the male host yet, right? I’ll send you his WeChat profile, and you can make an appointment with him to discuss the host script.”

A week ago, the guidance counsellor found Wen Le and said that they hoped that she could be the female host of the freshman entrance ceremony this year.

Wen Le was taken aback when she heard this. This was because she had never learned to host, and as far as she knew, there were still many people in the academy who were good at hosting and competing for this opportunity.

Wen Le knew what kind of disputes and gossip would arise if she were to take on this task, but she had never been afraid of that.

She was actually even more determined to take it on, the moment the guidance counsellor mentioned it. An ambitious girl like her could not let go of any chance to get this opportunity.

Wen Le actually knew the reason why nobody was not appealing and gossiping about the decision, and why everyone was tacitly aware of it.

It was because of her good image because she was more famous, and because she could bring better publicity to the Student Union.

Wen Le knew all of these things.

As the beneficiary of being favoured, it was impossible for Wen Le not to know that this was more or less unfair to the other competitors. Wen Le didn’t want to defend the rights and interests of the other competitors. She just wanted to appease her small conscience, so Wen Le still asked why it was her.

The guidance counsellor only said this, “Because your results are ranked first in the cohort.”

Thus Wen Le accepted the position.

On campus, this reason seemed invincible.

While spurning her hypocrisy, Wen Le thought that perhaps her stage performance was not better than that of a more experienced person, but her hosting draft had to convince them otherwise.

Recollecting on the incident regarding herself from a week ago, Wen Le replied, “Okay, xuejie.”

After thinking about it for a while, the xuejie said again:

“Then there is the outfit issue. You may need to pick it up by yourself. I will send you the location. You can select your pick and then bring it back tomorrow. Pay for it yourself first, and pass me the receipt. The student union will reimburse it. Will need you to return the outfit the day after tomorrow……”

As soon as Wen Le hung up the phone, she saw Cheng Hui walking over and said, “I’m going to pick my outfit tomorrow. Are you free to come with me?”

Cheng Hui said, “There will be no classes during the seventh or eighth period tomorrow, so I’m free. Okay, I’ll accompany you.”

“Oh, by the way, Sun Youmei just replied to me,” Cheng Hui said.

Cheng Hui had sent the message to her when they first went to class, and Sun Youmei only replied to it after two classes had passed. Wen Le asked, “What did she say?”

“She said whatever. It just so happens that she doesn’t want to take Lao Yang’s class anymore. She would rather not attend any more classes this year and retake it next year.”

Wen Le was silent for a long time and gave a thumbs up, “She’s been rather crazy lately.”

Cheng Hui whispered, “She went out with her boyfriend all day, I also don’t know where she went. She also doesn’t go to classes anymore, her heart is completely not on school matters. I feel a little scared, I’m afraid that something will happen to her.”

TN: Hello fellow readers, the next few chapters are a little bit longer so I have decided to split the chapter into 2 parts(and to accommodate our translation and editing speed so we can keep posting each week hehe hope you guys will understand~). Hope you enjoyed the chapter!!

  • I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 7

    Malicious Woman

    “You…and Zhou Kao got together?”

Sun Youmei assessed Wen Le from top to bottom with a strange look. She pointed to the page on her phone and said, “It’s fake, right?”

Wen Le didn’t know why she had such a strong reaction. Her long eyelashes fluttered, hiding her flash of emotions, and a small smile appeared. Wen Le acted as if nothing had happened, and calmly said, “Do you even believe the gossip on the Internet?”

Sun Youmei sized up Wen Le once again and failed to find anything suspicious from Wen Le. She then turned her gaze away from Wen Le, but her tone was still rather subtle, “That’s good then.”

Wen Le’s face remained calm, but her eyes gradually deepened, and with a cold expression, she indolently said, “Why?”

Sun Youmei glanced over at Wen Le in a calculative way again. She thought she was doing it very subtly, but her attitude and look revealed her true thoughts. Sun Youmei said, “How can a family like Zhou Kao’s accept such a commoner, you need not waste your feelings in vain.”

The smile on Wen Le’s face disappeared completely. She looked at Sun Youmei coldly with a raised eyebrow. The sweet innocent princess from earlier immediately turned into a strong powerful queen, “What family does he have? And who’s the one who’s putting efforts on him?”

Sun Youmei was a bit scared upon seeing this and immediately changed her attitude, “Aiya, I just heard that Zhou Kao’s family background is rather wealthy. Just gossiping a bit with y’all – girls from a commoner family shouldn’t bother a family like his, you’d just be wasting your time.”

Wen Le said coldly, “Oh, really?”

“Hey, I think quite a few people like him. I used to think that what the elders say is old-fashioned, but now that I think about it, there’s some truth to it. The family’s background must still match to get a good ending.”

On the surface, these words sounded like they were advising Wen Le, but after learning the truth behind Sun Youmei’s self-constructed ‘Ms Perfect’ image, and about how she relied on her second-generation rich boyfriend to force her way into their circle of friends, such words sounded really sarcastic.

For a moment, nobody knew how to respond to her, and the atmosphere in the dormitory turned a bit strange. But Sun Youmei’s phone rang, breaking the atmosphere up. This special ringtone set exclusively by Sun Youmei for her beloved was her starting way of showing off her affection.

Sun Youmei happily held up her phone with eyes full of smiles, and laughed, “Oh, I’m not gonna gossip with you guys anymore, my darling is calling me.”

Sun Youmei jogged out happily holding her phone, closed the door of the dormitory and did not go far. Within the dorm, they could still vaguely hear her happily flirting and laughing.

After the sounds of her laughter disappeared, Bao Xiaofan rolled her eyes and chuckled softly, “Acting like a bitch, what does she wanna do now?”

Wen Le shrugged. The thought of Sun Youmei nitpicking obsessively over her relationship with Zhou Kao made her indescribably annoyed, and she felt uncomfortably stifled.

After washing up, all four people in the dormitory settled in their beds. Sun Youmei, who had been taking her time outside talking on the phone for half an hour, ran back and started to rummage through her closet in excitement.

Cheng Hui was startled by her movements and sat up looking at Sun Youmei, “What are you up to, so late at night?”

Sun Youmei took out a pink mini-dress from the closet and checked herself out with it using the mirror behind the dorm door. Satisfied with the look, she threw the dress on the bed and then proceeded to strip to her undergarments in front of them. As she changed, she said, “Dorm leader, just treat it as if I didn’t come back today. Lin Zi wants to take me to a party, so I won’t be coming back tonight.”

Cheng Hui frowned, “You pay attention to safety, late at night…”

There were some things that weren’t for Cheng Hui to say, but everyone knew it as an adult.

Sun Youmei waved her hand indifferently, “Don’t worry la, it’ll be alright, dorm leader!”

Cheng Hui kindly reminded her, “There’s a class at eight o’clock tomorrow morning, don’t forget.”

Sun Youmei didn’t care, “Won’t be able to make it to the class at eight o’clock, attendance won’t be taken anyway. I’ll just skip the class la. Don’t worry, dorm leader mummy!”

Cheng Hui was speechless, “Okay, don’t forget to pack up all these things on the floor before you leave.”

Sun Youmei was busy changing and doing her makeup and hair, and said perfunctorily, “I know, I know.”

After getting ready for more than half an hour, the dormitory was a mess again. The pile of wrapping paper, bags and boxes that Sun Youmei brought back was still not cleaned up. A quick glance at the time showed that the dorm would shut the gates in another 20 minutes, yet Sun Youmei was still busy drawing her eyeliner.

The ringtone that Sun Youmei set for her boyfriend rang in the dorm. Her boyfriend had already arrived downstairs in his car and was calling to chase her.

In a panic, Sun Youmei still managed to finish drawing her eyeliner steadily, picked up her bag and ran out the door.

She ran to the door and looked at the clothes and bags she had taken out and hadn’t put back yet, and then ran back to put everything in the closet and locked it with a lock.

Cheng Hui looked at the mess in the dorm and reminded her, “Your packing box!”

Sun Youyou said in a hurry: “Leave it for now and wait for me to clean up when I’m back.”

After speaking, she rushed out of the dorm like a gust of wind.

Seeing the mess on the ground, Cheng Hui burst out, “F**k!”

Bao Xiaofan took off her earphones to glance at it and frowned heavily.

Man Qingxuan said leisurely at this time, “I suddenly remembered that there seems to be a hygiene inspection tomorrow.”

Four voices sounded at the same time, “F**k!”

Ai Fei, who had just returned from self-study in the library, heard these four “f**k” exclamations as soon as she pushed open the door. Startled, she could not help but exit and closed the door to glance at the dorm number to confirm that she had not entered the wrong place. Confirming that, she entered the dorm again gingerly,  and saw the mess all over the dorm.

    “What happened?” Ai Fei asked.

Cheng Hui pointed to the mess on the floor: “There’s a hygiene inspection tomorrow. She left already and probably won’t be returning tomorrow either.”

    “F**K

Ai Fei understood what she had done, couldn’t help but widen her eyes in shock, and started cursing “F**K” repeatedly.

One could really get pissed off to death by Sun Youmei.

The five people in the dorm had to drag themselves out of bed, and spent most of the day cleaning up the dorm from top to bottom. As the class was at 8 am tomorrow, it would be too late to clean everything up in the morning.

Cheng Hui kicked a pile of wrapping paper and boxes beside her feet, and said, “What should we do, there is no more space for her stuff. If we throw them away, she might make a huge fuss about it.”

Bao Xiaofan said, “Don’t throw, don’t throw it away! It has to be kept for her – there’s Lao Yang’s class tomorrow afternoon, she wouldn’t dare to not come and will definitely return to the dorm. Then I will put this pile of rubbish back for her to sort through. She better tidy them all up nicely for us, and if she were to leave out even a strand of hair, I will stuff it in her mouth.”

    Man Qingxuan nodded, “Agreed.”

Wen Le thought about Sun Youmei’s insinuation against her last night which made her disgusted. She couldn’t be bothered by her and said, “Then we’ll just shove it under the bed, and then take it out for her after the hygiene inspection.”

Cheng Hui nodded in agreement, “Okay.”

The few of them looked at each other, and then smiled sinisterly.

What to do, they were just such malicious women.

In the afternoon, they had Lao Yang’s class. Lao Yang’s class was notoriously difficult.  Before class, attendance was always taken. Missing one class would mean the deduction of ten points, missing twice would mean losing their average grades, and missing thrice would mean you have failed and have to repeat the class.

It was unfortunate that Sun Youmei had already skipped Lao Yang’s class once. If she skipped class again this time, it would be difficult for her to pass without her usual grades. Just as what Bao Xiaofan predicted, Sun Youmei dared not be too indulgent and appeared back in the dorm.

Maybe it was because of staying out too late last night, the dark circles on Sun Youmei’s face were rather heavy, and she was also a little lacklustre.

As soon as Sun Youmei pushed open the dorm, she was stunned when she saw the mess on the ground. Then she remembered that this was the packaging she left yesterday, but realised something was wrong. Sun Youmei was surprised, “Wasn’t there a hygiene inspection this morning?”

The people in the dorm sneered collectively when they heard her words. Turns out that she did know about the hygiene inspection, and had long planned things out.

    It was really maddening.

Cheng Hui nodded coldly, “Yes, the inspection is over.”

Sun Youmei pointed to the mess, “Then did we get 0 points?”

The department attached great importance to the hygiene scores. If it was 0 points, one would be afraid to be invited by the counsellor to have a talk.

Bao Xiaofan said with a sneer, “That’s not true, our hygiene inspection got 100% again.”

Sun Youmei looked at the things on the ground again and seemed to want an answer.

Wen Le said, “We don’t really like to touch your things. After all, these things are so expensive, right? We don’t dare to throw them out for you, as we’re afraid that we might throw away something of yours by accident, and that wouldn’t be good. So we arranged it back to how it was, and you can look carefully if there’s still anything valuable.”

Wen Le’s face was sincere and innocent as if she was really considerate of Sun Youmei, but the indifference in her eyes showed her sarcasm.

Sun Youmei looked at Wen Le, her face was a little embarrassed. She seemed to realize that this was probably Wen Le’s revenge for her attack on her last night.

Sun Youmei held on to her bag tightly. She really hated this girl.

Cheng Hui also chimed in at this time, “Hurry up and see if there’s any other valuables. Better clean it up soon, the dorm looks quite messy with all this piled up on the floor.”

Sun Youmei gritted her teeth and reluctantly picked up the trash on the ground.

What other valuables could there be? Before she left yesterday, she had locked all the things she unpacked into the closet. She knew better than anyone that this pile of things were really just a pile of rubbish.

Sun Youmei took a deep breath and the wrapping paper crinkled in her hands. After cleaning up all the wrapping papers, she muttered, “Okay, done.”

Cheng Hui glanced distractedly from the phone when she heard the words, and said, “What’s this on the floor? Youmei, get the broom to clean it up.”

The dormitory returned to a clean and tidy appearance, and the mood of several people in the dormitory also improved, only Sun Youmei was in a bad mood.

Sun Youmei walked past Man Qingxuan. Man Qingxuan wrinkled her nose, and said, “Youmei, have you been drinking? The smell of alcohol on your body is a little strong.”

Hearing this, Sun Youmei pulled her sleeve and sniffed it. The stench was a little heavy. “I didn’t drink much, but I accidentally spilt some drinks on myself yesterday. I’ll go wash up.”

Sun Youmei went to the closet to look for a change of clothes, but suddenly froze when she opened the closet.

The key to her wardrobe was missing.

  • I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 6

    What situation is this?

Wen Le pushed the door of the dormitory to open it, but wasn’t able to do so; it appeared as if the door was blocked by something.

She knocked on the door, and soon a shout came from the dormitory, “Wait! Wait…”

Wen Le waited for a while and heard a rustling sound from behind the door. After a while, the door was opened.

As soon as Wen Le glanced inside the dormitory, she knew why she couldn’t push the door open.

The small aisle of the dormitory was filled up with haphazardly piled-up large and small boxes, enclosed in wrapping paper. Wen Le felt that the path leading from the door to her study desk was heavily obstructed, and there was almost no space for her to step around.

And in the middle of all this mess, there was another person who was still tearing open packages, adding on to the rubbish, while chattering about the origin of each item.

    “We left the fashion show, and Zhen Zhen asked if we still wanted to go shopping. There were too many people in Karl Lagerfeld, so we went to the Paris Spring Department Store… This bag is worth tens of thousands;

Zhen Zhen just gave it a look, and said ‘This suits Ah Mei very much’, then she swiped her card… I saw this dress at a glance and fell in love immediately.

Although it is a little expensive, how can I let go of the things I like? So I reluctantly bought it, but I don’t regret it. Because it is so beautiful!!!”

Sun Youmei’s mouth was chattering endlessly, and Cheng Hui, who was forcibly pulled aside by Sun Youmei to listen, had a stiff smile on her face, and a trace of agony in her expression.

Cheng Hui was a tomboy, and the clothes she wore often were those cheap black and white T-shirts with sweatpants. She had no idea about Sun Youmei’s refined life, let alone the desire to explore it.

Man Qingxuan and Bao Xiaofan had long since abandoned their friends and gone to bed to watch dramas with their headphones on.

Wen Le wanted to laugh a little, but resisted the laughter, walked forward on tiptoes looking for a gap, and said, “Hi…this is…”

When Sun Youmei turned her head and saw Wen Le, she took a sweeping glance at her. She saw Wen Le dressed in a white dress, her long black hair tied up into a top bun, accessorised with a shining crystal hairpin. Her makeup was delicate and her neck was slender, overall she was exuding an outstanding temperament.

Sun Youmei’s face couldn’t help but freeze. She had been a beautiful top student since she was a child, and her intelligence together with her beautiful face made her popular wherever she went. In the college entrance examination, she performed exceptionally well and with the added extra points obtained through her independent enrollment, she successfully entered the country’s top A University.

Initially, she had thought that because of her appearance, she would definitely be sought after by her classmates, and regardless of such titles like the faculty-belle or class-belle, they would naturally belong to her too.

With so many top students gathered in one location, how could there be many hunks and beauties? With her face, she would probably be the most beautiful one amongst them.

Sun Youmei had even wondered what kind of attention and fame, being A University’s top student beauty, could bring to her.

But she had never thought that the next few years would be unfavourable to her, as a result of her meeting Wen Le, who became popular throughout the school and internet with her beauty, as soon as she entered the school gates.

The beautiful picture Sun Youmei imagined was shattered by reality. Against the radiance of Wen Le, her beauty seemed to be greatly compromised. It was like the moon concealing the light of stars. As long as Wen Le appeared, she seemed to become a star that was overshadowed, becoming dull and unremarkable.

Since her childhood, Sun Youmei had been the focus of the crowd and was pursued fervently by people around her. This huge disparity in popularity made Sun Youmei unable to accept it in any way.

Sun Youmei didn’t like this overly beautiful girl from the first time she saw Wen Le, and this dislike grew after Wen Le overshadowed her light. She regarded her as a thorn in her flesh. The thing that Sun Youmei hated the most now was having to interact with Wen Le in the same space while breathing the same air, which made her feel suffocated.

(T/N: this girl has some serious jealousy issues….)

Sun Youmei’s excited face had already plummeted when Wen Le appeared. She turned her head and slightly raised her eyelids to look at Wen Le. She became even more out of breath when she saw a graceful, charming Wen Le clad in a white dress, and the expression on her face also worsened by several degrees.

As soon as Wen Le appeared, she spoiled Sun Youmei’s good mood to show off her luxurious bags and clothes. Sun Youmei gritted her teeth with hatred, but still said perfunctorily, “Hi, you’re back?”

After all, the adult world is just so artificial yet harmonious.

Wen Le put the backpack on the table and greeted, “Youmei, when did you return?”

“In the afternoon”, Sun Youmei said perfunctorily. When she chanced upon Wen Le’s backpack, she sneered and cursed her as a poor ghost in secret, but her mood suddenly improved.

Sun Youmei turned her head back in a good mood and fluffed her hair amorously. The four-leaf clover ring from Van Cleef & Arpels on her snow-white fingers was unexpectedly eye-catching.

When Cheng Hui saw Wen Le, the smile on her face finally stopped being stiff, and while Sun Youmei turned her head back, she winked at Wen Le, signalling Wen Le to save her from this boring topic.

Wen Le chuckled in her heart, winked back at Cheng Hui in response and said with a good temperament, “That elegant ring is so beautiful!”

Sun Youmei’s vanity was greatly satisfied, and her attention was diverted. She did not intend to continue holding on to Cheng Hui. Instead, she gently touched the ring on her finger and said in a distinctively arrogant tone, “It’s alright I guess; about two thousand Euros. But he insisted on buying it for me, what can I do?”

Upon hearing this, Cheng Hui rolled her eyes where Sun Youmei couldn’t see.

Sun Youmei was a weirdo in their dormitory.

There were actually six people in their dormitory. In addition to Cheng Hui, Wen Le, Bao Xiaofan, and Man Qingxuan, there were two others. One was the mysterious hardworking and diligent scholar Ai Fei, who left early and returned late, and the other was the little beauty Sun Youmei.

Sun Youmei had white, fair skin with big eyes and a small round face. She looked sweet and lovely, but her temperament was not as simple and cute as her appearance. On the contrary, she was rather scheming.

The young lady was quite vain. From the beginning of their freshman year, Sun Youmei had tried to build the image of a “Ms Perfect”* for herself.

*Ms Perfect is internet slang for saying one is fair-skinned, rich and beautiful.

Her clothes and bags were all from famous brands, and her perfume and skincare products also cost at least thousands and up. She occasionally carelessly showed off her wealth, adding to her “Ms Perfect” image from all aspects.

There were six people in dormitory 307. Except for Bao Xiaofan, the others were all from small cities, whose parents were from ordinary working families. Wen Le came from a remote mountain village in the southwestern province. Initially, Wen Le, who had just entered university, didn’t even recognize the logos of the major brands on Sun Youmei’s clothes and bags. Compared with Sun Youmei, Wen Le was undoubtedly a country bumpkin from head to toe.

Sun Youmei not only paraded around with clothes and bags but also spent money extravagantly. She also intentionally revealed that her family was engaged in the commercial business. All the country bumpkins in the dormitory, who had not seen much of the world, were easily deceived by Sun Youmei. Thus, the “Ms Perfect” image of Sun Youmei was established in the dormitory.

But what Sun Youmei wanted was more than just establishing her status in the dormitory. She wanted her image as a “Ms Perfect” to be established in the class, faculty and even in the entire school and society, basically amongst everyone who did not know her true background.

But the people outside of dormitory 307 were not as gullible as the group of country-bumpkins in the dormitory, and all lies were bound to be exposed one day.

Cheng Hui had a good temper and popularity and had a good relationship with the girls in the class. She carried herself with a unique temperament; although it might not attract boys, it gave the girls a strong sense of security. Hence generally, none of the girls disliked or excluded her.

Once, Cheng Hui went to another dormitory to chat with her friends. While gossiping, the girl in the dormitory next door, who had a fiery temper, directly exposed Sun Youmei’s lies.

“That Sun Youmei in your dormitory is too interesting. Has she always been giving herself the title of a ‘Miss Perfect’? Oh my God, at least 80% of the clothes and bags on her are A-grade counterfeits, please! And she’s still there trying to pretend as if no one can tell? Give me a break!”

Once girls start to gossip, they can have analysis and reasoning capabilities comparable to Holmes, and their analysis at every step can be perfect.

There is no impermeable wall in the world, and her ex-schoolmates knew exactly what kind of family conditions Sun Youmei had.

The university circle in the capital could be considered to be neither too big nor too small. After asking around several local students, there would always be one or two classmates whom they could get in touch with for more details. And it just so happened that the friend of the girl in the next-door dormitory was one such person, and she knew everything about Sun Youmei’s background.

Sun Youmei’s mother was a primary school teacher, and her father had opened a rather big bookstore. Her family conditions were not bad, but they were still rather different from the conditions of the “Ms Perfect” image that she had created for herself.

However, Sun Youmei was indeed liberal with money and spent extravagantly. But this was because she had a boyfriend who drove a Porsche.

Her branded bags, clothes and even her daily expenses mostly came from this little-known boyfriend who was kept tightly secret.

She was so secretive about it, that all five of them in dormitory 307 thought that Sun Youmei was single.

Then once, she had a terrible fight with her boyfriend. She started bawling in the middle of the night to everyone’s surprise, and that was when she admitted that she had a boyfriend.

Since then, she fell into the vicious circle of showing their affection to others.

She was not a bad person, but she was very competitive and vain. The roommates did not want to make the dormitory atmosphere awkward and thus did not expose her. They were all adults, and there was no need for others to dictate the life one chose.

Her boyfriend did a lot of business for his family and often brought her out to meet people from the rich second-generation circle. It was for this reason that Sun Youmei happened to meet the generous Zhen Zhen who gave her a bag casually, and who was a girl of the same batch but from the art school next door, and was the real “Miss Perfect”.

Two days ago, Zhen Zhen invited Sun Youmei to visit Paris for a fashion show. Sun Youmei requested for sick leave from her guardian and flew to Paris to watch the show with her boyfriend, Zhen Zhen and a few friends from that circle. It was only in the evening today that she returned to the dorm lugging a bag full of items, showing off while unpacking, and making the whole dorm a mess.

    Such was her character.

Actually, other aspects were fairly simple, except for her vanity. After getting a sense of superiority from Wen Le, she began to pull her aside to chat incessantly about her trip to Paris.

Wen Le was able to read her thoughts, yet she did not bother to argue with her.

It was indeed getting late. Wen Le pulled the dorm leader along to wash up. The dorm leader took a look at the mess in the dorm, and developed a headache, shouting, “Clean up the dormitory before I’m back!”

Sun Youmei laughed and cursed, “Yeah, I know, you’re annoying.”

The whole dorm appeared to be harmonious.

After Wen Le and the dorm leader finished washing up, they heard Sun Youmei’s shout while holding on to her phone. Her shouts caused the two wearing earphones to take them off and turn their heads towards her.

“Wen Le, you are actually together with Zhou Kao?!”

Wen Le looked at Sun Youmei’s shocked and angry eyes and tilted her head. ‘What….situation was this?’

  • I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 5

    Encounter With Another Confession

After class, Wen Le did not leave with her roommates. Her classmate from the Student Union had swapped duties, so Wen Le packed her bags and rushed to Building J where the Student Union was located.

There were not many people in Building J at this point in time, except for the security guard uncle guarding the door.

Wen Le exchanged the timesheet with the classmate who was on duty earlier and signed on it.

Before leaving, the classmate said, “Classroom 201 upstairs is still in use. When they leave, don’t forget to collect the keys. Earlier, the section head said that some people from the Student Union may come to deliver a document in the evening. You should receive the documents before locking the door and leaving.”

Wen Le nodded, “Alright, I got it.”

    “Then I’ll go now.”

    “Mm, bye.”

There were not many people while on duty in the afternoon. Wen Le tidied up the office briefly, then sat down on the desk and took out her homework to write for a while.

Wen Le was not sure about the time the meeting in room 201 had started upstairs, but it lasted for another hour after her arrival. When Wen Le collected the key from them, it was already close to dinner time.

For dinner, she ordered takeout and simply began to eat.

After finishing the homework, she took out her USB and used the office computer to revise her manuscript.

Two weeks ago, Wen Le submitted a manuscript to Wenxing Magazine, but they called back two days ago requesting for a major revision of the manuscript.

Wen Le had been writing online since her freshman year to make some pocket money on the side.

At nine o’clock in the evening, the documents that she had been waiting for a long time finally arrived.

Wen Le collected the documents from the student from the Student Union and recorded them down. She then packed her bags, and turned off the computer and lights, before locking the door to leave.

It was already past nine o’clock in the evening, and only Wen Le was left in Building J. The security room was lit, but the security guard uncle could not be seen through the glass window.

University A was a university with a century-old history, which had made the facilities of University A outdated. The school was currently renovating various buildings on campus year by year, but the dormitory and teaching buildings were naturally the first to undergo remodelling.

Building J was listed in the last few pages of the renovation schedule and the lights in the corridor of the old Building J were also dimmed due to disrepair.

Wen Le walked through the dimly lit corridor and walked to the entrance of Building J. A gust of wind blew by. The tall trees and vines at the door rustled, and the dim external light above her head made a “creak” sound. In this silent night deserted of people, there was an inexplicable sense of horror which made one’s blood run cold.

And it was at this moment, Wen Le discovered a person standing under the shadow of the trees.

Wen Le was startled, and her heart almost came to an abrupt stop. She cursed in her heart silently, but still managed to appear calm.

Wen Le pretended not to see him, and turned and walked towards the exit.

Building J was located on a high platform which was half a meter high. Below the high platform was the sidewalk. There were street lights on the sidewalk, so it would make it easier to see.

There were steps to the east of the exit of Building J. In fact, a half-meter-high platform was not that high to jump from, but few people choose to jump from the platform.

Wen Le walked directly to the steps, but was stopped after a few steps.

    “Wen Le!”

To be honest, there were only two people in the dark, and the other party was also a boy. Wen Le didn’t want to look back.

Wen Le also pretended not to have heard him and continued to walk toward the steps.

The person behind her saw Wen Le ignoring him, yet refused to give up.

He sprinted a few steps forward, “Xue jie Wen Le!”

*xue jie – a term to refer to a senior sister

Wen Le could feel that the person had run to the spot right behind her, so she had no choice but to turn around and look at the approaching person.

Seeing the other’s face vaguely through the dim light, Wen Le felt that it was a bit familiar at first, but was eventually unable to remember.

Wen Le just took two steps back vigilantly, and with a polite smile on her face said, “Why is xuedi* looking for me?”

*xue jie – a term to refer to a male junior

The boy was overjoyed when he heard this, “Xue jie, you still remember me, right? I didn’t manage to get your WeChat that day and thought you forgot about me.”

When Wen Le heard him say it, she immediately remembered who this person was. It was the same person who asked her for her socials during the Student Union interview that day. Her face couldn’t help but turn stiff, and she took a step back quietly. She kept her smile on and said, “Why are you here so late?”

The person said, “I knew that xue jie is on duty for the Student Union. Whenever I pass by for self-revision at night, I will always take a look at the office. I didn’t expect xue jie to be here today, so I decided to just stay back and wait for xue jie.”

Wen Le endured her discomfort and said, “Is there anything I can help you with?”

The xue di eagerly took two steps forward, and Wen Le was forced to take another two steps back. The xue di said, “Xue jie, that day they said that you’ve a boyfriend , I don’t believe it. I followed you the whole day, and you didn’t even have any contact with other boys. Xue jie, you lied to me, right?”

Wen Le’s face turned stiff, eyes narrowed, and her voice was slightly dangerous, “You said…what? Followed me the whole day?”

The xue di only cared about what he said, and did not respond to Wen Le’s question.

Xue jie, I really like you! Please get together with me, xue jie! I know you and that guy are not together. Besides, what does that pretty boy Zhou Kao have that I don’t? Is he richer or more handsome than me?

(T/N: not gonna lie I might have puked a little translating this)

Xue Jie, don’t be fooled by his pretty face. People like him will only go around deceiving girls.”

As he spoke, he continued to take two steps forward excitedly, and Wen Le was forced to take another two steps back. He said, “You see Xue Jie, only I can give you happiness, only I can be worthy of you. Xue Jie, please just get together with me!”

After saying that, he approached to grab Wen Le.

Wen Le subconsciously stretched her hand back and took a step back to avoid him, but didn’t know that because of this xue di, she was forced to back up time and again. She was already standing on the edge of the high platform, and at that moment, her feet touched the air instead, and Wen Le lost her balance and fell.

    “Be careful, Xue Jie!”

Xue di widened his eyes suddenly and was about to reach out to grab Wen Le, yet he was still a step late.

The feeling of free-falling caused Wen Le’s pupils to shrink, and she closed her eyes, recognizing her fate and waiting for the pain to strike.

However, she was suddenly embraced by a pair of powerful arms and taken into a warm and firm embrace.

Wen Le was startled slightly, and a familiar fragrance wafted into her nose. Wen Le opened her eyes subconsciously. Under the bright street lamp, Zhou Kao’s handsome and profound silhouette came into Wen Le’s eyes.

When Zhou Kao caught Wen Le, he turned half a circle in order to buffer the force of the fall, and Wen Le’s long skirt swayed in a beautiful arc in the air.

Wen Le didn’t know when her hands held on to Zhou Kao’s shoulders, and her eyes were fixed on Zhou Kao’s side profile. The light hitting on Zhou Kao’s light brown hair seemed to shine like stars, but it was not as alluring as the stars flashing brightly in Zhou Kao’s eyes.

Wen Le looked at Zhou Kao blankly. At that moment, Zhou Kao was really super handsome, and Wen Le felt her maiden heart, which had been silent for a long time, pounding.

Blame the night scene for being so damn charming.

Zhou Kao kept his balance, while still holding Wen Le in his arms. The street lamp shed a gentle light, and Wen Le’s snow-white skirt elegantly covered her calf, revealing her slender ankles and a pair of snow-white leather shoes neatly joined together.

Zhou Kao lowered his head, the beauty was lying in his arms, and her snow-white hands were on his shoulders. Zhou Kao couldn’t help but move his throat slightly, while saying softly, “It’s me.”

His voice was a little low, and he was extraordinarily gentle under the night sky.

Wen Le looked at the Adam’s apple of Zhou Kao’s throat, and nodded, “En.”

The atmosphere between them did not seem to be as stiff as when they first met.

Zhou Kao said in a low voice, “Got a confession again?”

Wen Le held on to Zhou Kou’s shirt, and softly snitched, “He said bad things about you.”

Zhou Kao gave a soft hum, but didn’t get angry. On the contrary, he said indifferently  “I heard it.”

Wen Le couldn’t help pursing her lips and chuckling and then looked up at Zhou Kao. Perhaps it was due to the earlier act of the hero rescuing a damsel in distress, Wen Le whispered to Zhou Kao in a soft gentle tone that she had never heard before, “Help me…”

Zhou Kao didn’t speak, he just turned around carrying Wen Le and looked at the Xue di who was talking bad about him earlier.

Zhou Kao hugged Wen Le and turned around with a gentle smile, but the gaze in his eyes held no warmth. He gave a sweeping glance at the boy wordlessly, but the smile at the corner of his mouth deepened, and the boy instantly turned red. There was nothing worth more contempt and disdain than this gaze.

Zhou Kao stood under the streetlamp; even though he was below the high platform half a meter away from the xue di, he still crushed the opponent in terms of his presence.

The 188cm Zhou Kao had a body comparable to a male model. The influence of his family and his own excellence gave Zhou Kao, a kind of noble and aloof temperament. In his eyes, he always had a kind of careless self-confidence and calmness in grasping everything. Just this trait of his, allowed him to stand out from his group of same-aged peers. Coupled with Zhou Kao’s overly handsome face, ordinary people who appeared in front of Zhou Kao all seemed to pale in comparison.

When the two appeared in the same space, the contrast was extremely tragic.

Zhou Kao didn’t even respond to the boy’s evaluation of him. He just glanced at him lightly, which made him embarrassed beyond words.

“I’ll be bringing my girlfriend away, as for you…”

Zhou Kao’s voice paused, and there was oppression and warning in his eyes when he looked at the boy and said, “It’s better not to show up again.”

The xue di quickly fled in defeat.

Zhou Kao let Wen Le down onto the ground, saying, “I heard you personally voted me as the school hunk?”

Wen Le’s foot tripped, her eyes full of shock, “Who said that?!”

‘Why the hell does everyone have such a big mouth!’

    Zhou Kao said lightly, “Others.”

Wen Le gritted her teeth, but squeezed a smile on her face, “This is just a misunderstanding.”

Zhou Kao raised his eyebrows and did not continue to ask, but said, “I’ve seen you twice, and each time you were being confessed to at night.”

Wen Le bit her lips slightly, “I blame my damn charm.”

Zhou Kao lightly said, “Hope there won’t be a third time.”

    Wen Le, “There won’t be.”

TN: hehe we shall see about that, Wen Le~

  • Film Empress’s Daily Face Slapping Chapter 50

    Acting Skills

Su Shen gasped, and her entire body tensed. The next moment, she suddenly closed her eyes!

In the small space, under the dim light, the person in front of him closed her eyes tightly, with her eyelashes trembling. That refined fair face seemed to contain a hint of nervousness, her breath held.

Seeing her like this, Xie Yan couldn’t help but chuckle, “What do you want me to do by being like this?”

Hearing his chuckle, Su Shen immediately opened her eyes and glared at him angrily, “I just…”

Before she could finish her words, her voice was completely swallowed up by him and only sounds of “mhm” could be heard in the car for a while.

He sucked on her soft lower lip as if he was sucking on poppies*, nibbling it even. His big hands slid into her down coat subconsciously and held her slender waist.

sucking on poppies – there’s a species of poppy that is the source of the narcotic drug opium

The temperature in the car instantly increased. Su Shen couldn’t breathe for a moment. When she was released from the kiss, she was still gasping for air in a daze.

When a kiss fell on her fair and tender neck, Xie Yan couldn’t help from nibbling it, which in turn made Su Shen let out a cry, “It hurts…”

Perhaps it was because he still had self-control, as he took a deep breath in the pit of her neck and then slowly looked up, but his eyes were poised as if he was about to eat her.

When Su Shen came to her senses, she found that the other party was staring at her, and momentarily, she didn’t dare to say anything. It instantly became quiet in the car.

After a long silence, Xie Yan ultimately took a deep breath and helped open the door for her. The biting cold wind blew in at once, making Su Shen shiver.

“Go back and sleep early.” His voice was slightly hoarse.

It was not that Su Shen didn’t know about matters between men and women. Before she got married, the matron of honor had told her about some bed matters. Moreover, after coming here for so long, she more or less understood about those kinds of stuff. In this kind of situation, most people would not easily stop, but Xie Yan had remembered the condition she had mentioned before.

Perhaps, she was too stubborn. If she had already set her heart on him, she should be more considerate about the other party.

    “Xie Yan.” She blinked.

He turned around and arched his brow in confusion.

Pursing her lips, Su Shen said softly, “I take back the three conditions I said before.”

Before he could react, she opened the door and got out of the car.

When Xie Yan came back to his senses, he only saw her figure getting farther and farther, until it completely merged into the darkness.

Thinking of what she had just said, he couldn’t help but chuckle. In the night, the car stopped for a long time before it gradually drove away.

When she got home, Su Shen could only feel that her heart was beating super fast. She sat in the living room for a long time until her heartbeat gradually calmed down. Then, she went to get some clothes and took a shower.

Today, she went to bed quite early as she had to go on set soon after. After the movie premiere on Monday, she had to go film that crime drama on Tuesday. The male lead was Li Hao, so the rapport when filming would be easier since they know each other. Moreover, there were no kiss scenes, with the highest level of intimacy being just a hug. After all, it was a drama with a weak romance plot, which was one of the reasons why Su Shen wanted to accept it.

She didn’t wake up until 10 am the next day. Liu jie had called and said that she would be arriving soon with a makeup artist.

After Su Shen had washed up and ate breakfast, Liu jie arrived just in time. This time, it was another haute couture gown of an international brand. Although the style was very simple—double strapped and knee length, it was bright red and dazzling.

“You have a fair complexion, so this kind of bright color suits you best, and you don’t have to be afraid of a wardrobe malfunction anymore.” Standing at the door, Liu jie motioned to the makeup artist and said, “No heavy makeup, but a red lip is a must.”

“Got it.” The makeup artist made an OK gesture with a tacit understanding.

Without saying anything, Su Shen went to the bathroom to change her clothes. She understood what Liu jie meant. The entertainment industry was a place where beauty would be compared. If an outfit was too ugly, she’d be ridiculed by the netizens. Therefore, many people would often post some airport outfit shots to show that they were chic and fashionable. This way, they would be able to capture brands’ notice.

After changing into the gown, she then came to the vanity table and sat down, letting the makeup artist style her hair.

Styling her hair took an hour and plus makeup, it was already 12:00 pm when they set out. It would be exactly 1:00 pm when they arrived at the movie premiere venue.

The makeup artist just gave her slight curls, no eyeshadow, only eyeliner, contoured her features, and a bright red lip, making her appear more mature.

When she got out of the car, it was freezing despite being bundled up in a thick coat. When she came backstage, the lounge of the production crew was already full of people with Fan Meng, Li Hao, Wang Cheng, and the rest present.

“Su Shen, why are you shivering? Is it super cold today?” With his legs crossed, Wang Cheng leaned against the sofa and played on his phone while glancing at her shivering.

There were not many rooms backstage, and since it was only a few hours, everyone just used a temporary lounge. Xie Yan still hadn’t arrived, and Fan Meng was sitting over there alone playing on her phone, seemingly disregarding everyone.

“It’s minus one degree today, you think it’s not cold?” She was bundled up in a thick coat, shivering.

The heater was on inside but she was still freezing. Wang Cheng smiled and continued to play on his phone without saying anything further.

Over there, Li Hao was originally reading a script but when he saw Su Shen come in, he suddenly smiled meaningfully, “Oh my, it seems that someone’s finally going to be chubby.”

Knowing that he must be referring to the dishes that Xie Yan had taken photos of yesterday, Su Shen couldn’t bear the teasing and looked down without saying anything, blushing.

Only Fan Meng rolled her eyes, with a sneer that flashed past.

However, Wang Cheng was super confused and asked, “What chubby? Have I gained weight?”

As he said that, he looked down at his figure and murmured, “I really did seem to have gained weight.”

    Li Hao: “…….”

He had never seemed someone so slow on the uptake and just shook his head without saying anything else.

When Xie Yan and He Hua came in, Su Shen didn’t dare to look up even more. Not sure if it was because of nervousness or being cold, she kept trembling.

“I’m going to find someone from Zhenghua Entertainment. Don’t be late.” After saying that to Xie Yan, He Hua glanced at Su Shen and then left the lounge.

The sofa was very long. When she felt that the seat beside her sank a little, Su Shen went to get her phone nervously, only to find herself touching someone else’s hand.

Before she could withdraw her hand, it was suddenly grabbed by someone. Their hand was scorching hot, unlike her constantly freezing hands. It was just like a furnace, and Su Shen gave up on struggling.

The little movements between the two of them naturally did not escape Fan Meng’s eyes. She pursed her lips and a trace of envy and jealousy flashed past her eyes.

“I have to leave later. Do you want to send me off?” He sat closer and said in a low voice.

When she thought of what she had said last night, Su Shen couldn’t help from blushing and just mumbled, “I want to go home and rest.”

The lounge was only so big, so the exchange between the two could be heard by everyone else, only Wang Cheng widened his eyes and turned around in disbelief only to see Xie Yan holding Su Shen’s hand and looking at her very lovingly.

This scene was too shocking for him. What on earth did he miss?

Just at this moment, a staff member came in and told them that the movie premiere was about to begin. Fan Meng was the first to leave, seemingly not wanting to stay for even a moment longer.

Su Shen also got up and took off her thick coat. When she turned around, she found that Xie Yan was staring at her, which made her walk ahead of him blushingly.

After Xie Yan caught up with her, Wang Cheng, who was still behind, bumped into Li Hao’s arm and asked curiously, “Are the two of them together? When was this?”

    He only found out now!

Li Hao also got up and prepared to leave as he casted a glance at him, “Do you think Xie Yan’s so short of money to actually go and film an idol drama?”

    Wang Cheng: “…….”

That explained it. He had thought that Xie Yan must’ve taken a fancy on the drama market and wanted to fish up some money. He hadn’t expected that the two of them were together so early. They hid it too well!

When they arrived at the front of the movie theater, it was already full of reporters. There were some directors and artists that were invited to watch as well, and in the back were the audience. Su Shen’s seat was next to Wang Cheng, while Xie Yan’s was next to Li Hao.

When it was 1:30 pm, the movie began to play on the big screen, leaving only the BGM echoing in the theater.

Different from public screenings, movie premieres were common as the first step in establishing the reputation for a movie and to hype it as well. However, public screenings were large-scale screenings throughout the country, which could impact the box office during the Spring Festival. There were only about ten days left before the public release.

The beginning of the movie had already been played on the screen and was now entering the plot. The first scene was a war scene, with the set being very grand. The entire movie theater was instantly filled with the sound of fighting.

While over here, Li Hao stared at the big screen while leaning over and whispering, “You’re so fast, to already swindle her to your house. It seems that you’re serious?”

The white light from the big screen casted onto Xie Yan’s unperturbed face as he said with a low voice without turning around, “Are there any intimate scenes in you guys’ drama?”

    Li Hao: “…….”

He looked at the person beside him seriously and said, “Yes.”

Xie Yan turned his head slightly and frowned, “Not allowed.”

At that, Li Hao mischievously smirked, leaned over and whispered, “You’re too petty. The female lead got injured so the male lead carried her to the hospital. You can’t even accept this level of intimate scenes?”

Xie Yan didn’t say anything and just stared at him.

The latter smiled helplessly and said quietly, “Okay, there are no other scenes. The most intimate one being a hug. If you don’t agree, I won’t hug then.”

After having known each other for so long, it was the first time that Li Hao discovered that his buddy was actually this jealous. What’s the point of having a girlfriend in the entertainment industry.

“I can reluctantly accept a normal hug.” After saying that, he turned around to look at the big screen.

Li Hao didn’t know what else to say. It was a good thing that it was not a drama with a lot of romance, else, bed scenes were every other minute.

“Are the action scenes dangerous?” Xie Yan suddenly asked.

Hearing this, Li Hao looked at Xie Yan seriously again with a weird expression, “It’s not like you’ve never filmed such scenes before. Do you think action scenes are dangerous or not?”

As if he thought of something, Xie Yan turned to meet his sight, “Then, help me keep an eye on her; have her use a body double for some dangerous action scenes.”

    Li Hao: “……”

It was rare for him to talk to him so seriously, and it was the first time that he had asked him for a favor. Without hesitation, Li Hao made an OK gesture. However, even if Xie Yan hadn’t said anything, he would’ve still paid attention to it. After all, she was his buddy’s girlfriend, so naturally, he couldn’t let something happen to her.

Seeing this, Xie Yan then turned back to look at the big screen. Just at this moment, it was showing the male lead returning to the palace to report when he saw his childhood sweetheart in the main hall.

Su Shen’s performance could not be said to be excellent, but could also not be said to be with faults. Except for the slightly inexperienced part of seducing the emperor, her performance in other places was on par with that of Fan Meng. It was rare to see an actress with a beautiful appearance and great acting, which naturally attracted the attention of some directors that were invited to the movie premiere.

The movie as a whole, except for the crude relationship between the protagonists, the details of the other parts were superb, and was satisfiable as a commercial film. However, when the movie aired that kiss scene, the audience began to scream.

After the movie finished, everyone left in twos and threes. Su Shen noticed that the production team did not cut too many of her scenes, but didn’t Liu jie say that a lot of her scenes had been cut?

When she left the theater, she saw Liu jie speaking with Xiao Zhou backstage. Seeing her come back, Liu jie immediately had Xiao Zhou bundle her up in the thick coat.

“Why did I find that many of my scenes hadn’t been deleted?” Su Shen walked over to put on the coat and looked at Liu jie curiously.

The latter frowned upon hearing that, “The news I heard was that, but something might’ve happened in between. But, it’s better than being cut.”

Su Shen nodded and looked at the staff passing by occasionally.

Raising her hand to check the time, Liu jie said seriously, “You don’t have anything this afternoon, so I helped book an exclusive interview for you. Let’s go over now.”

After saying that, Liu jie was about to pull her, but Su Shen suddenly stepped back. She paused and said, “I can’t later. I want to go see Xie Yan off.”

  • I Am A Matchmaker On Taobao Chapter 72

Shen Chuchu had not expected to be overpowered so suddenly. The person who was just massaging her now had her pinned down in the blink of an eye.

His kisses were both urgent and heavy like a baptism in a storm. She gradually became more interested and reached out her hand, wrapping her arms around the other’s neck. They both trembled as their tongues tangled. This wonderful sensation was spreading from the tip of the tongue to the heart, and then from the heart to the entire body.

Shen Chuchu’s hand felt like it had nowhere to go, so she stretched it out from Han Xingyan’s neck, removed his jacket, and eagerly wanted to unbutton his shirt. She could not open it for a long time and exclaimed angrily, “Who did this tie? Why is it so hard to untie!”

Han Xingyan was strangled by Shen Chuchu’s unruly action and was almost suffocated. And before he could say anything, she was already complaining to him. He simply laughed, “Yes yes yes, it’s my fault. Here, let me teach you.”

Han Xingyan held Shen Chuchu’s hand and gently taught her to untie the tie. At this moment, Shen Chuchu’s impulse had already vanished, and her face flushed red. Han Xingyan had endured for so long and he had no intention of letting her go like this. He covered Shen Chuchu’s lips with his lips then his hand dishonestly slipped from her hair to Shen Chuchu’s waist, and then he reached in from the hem of her clothes. He had been wanting to do this for a long time, and he put up with it all night yesterday. He caressed her smooth back before moving to the front.

He also finally understood what his mother used to say to him when she bought him new school uniforms, “A woman’s body is really soft. Why do you regard it with such disdain?”

Yes, a woman’s body is indeed very soft.

Shen Chuchu felt that she was going insane. Han Xingyan’s hand appeared to be a fire and her entire body was set alight wherever his hand went.

However, she had a sudden thought and quickly calmed down.

    “What day is it today?”

Han Xingyan frowned at the interruption, “Huh?”

Shen Chuchu glanced at the pink heart on Han Xingyan’s head, then glanced through. After a long time, she hesitatingly replied, “Nope. Today…we can’t today.”

“Why?” Han Xingyan asked suspiciously. His stained brows made Shen Chuchu even more unable to control herself.

Why? Because their first night is not today according to the system! But how could she explain this? The system had always been accurate so she would rather believe that.

“If I say no then it’s no. You can go back.”

Han Xingyan’s face darkened and he pressed his body down again before saying in a low voice, “You are really going to send me away like this?”

Shen Chuchu felt something pressing against her and her face flushed even more. She was not a child and knew what it was.

“Erm…well…” Shen Chuchu was about to come up with something when she felt something flow out from beneath her. Her eyes immediately lit up. The system, indeed, did not deceive her.

    “My period came.”

This time, Han Xingyan’s face darkened even more, “Chuchu, are you deliberately rejecting me? When did your period start?”

Shen Chuchu honestly replied, “Just a second ago. If you don’t get up now then it’ll get on you.”

He looked at Shen Chuchu’s smug expression, lowered his head and kissed her a few times before biting his lip again in frustration. Then released her.

After she was released, Shen Chuchu quickly went to her suitcase and took out a pad and a change of clothes then rushed into the bathroom. By the time she came out, Han Xingyan was still sitting outside. He seemed to be searching for something on his phone.

“You, you, you haven’t left.” Shen Chuchu remarked with a guilty conscience. Surely this was not her fault. It was her body that did not allow it.

Han Xingyan sighed when he noticed that Shen Chuchu did not dare to approach and gently said, “Come here.”

Shen Chuchu quickly walked over and sat down beside him.

Han Xingyan put down his phone, stroked her hand and looked at her stomach, “Does it hurt? I told Secretary Wang to get some brown sugar*. I heard it can ease the pain.”

*TL-note: Brown Sugar Ginger Tea is a well-known folk remedy from China for relieving menstrual cramping.

Shen Chuchu blinked and wanted to respond that her period pains were not that bad as she usually only experienced pain on the first day. However,  looking at Han Xingyan’s concerned expression, she realised that even if she was not in pain, she would have to say it hurt.

    “It hurts.”

“Mhm, I will massage it for you at bedtime.”

“Oh? Are you not going back?” Shen Chuchu stared blankly at the man in front of her.

Han Xingyan looked at his girlfriend’s dumb expression and stroked her hair, “How can I relax when you are like this? Don’t worry, you go lie down for a bit and I will let you know when Secretary Wang is here.”

Shen Chuchu, “…actually I’m fine. You can go deal with work stuff.”

Han Xingyan replied, “Be good. I know it’s unbearable. It says that the pain is similar to a woman giving birth online. Don’t endure it, I’m here.”

Shen Chuchu had never given birth so she did not know how painful that was but she did know that her pain was not comparable to that. It was not even comparable to the pain she had from acting on wires. But seeing Han Xingyan’s stern appearance, she went to  the bathroom to wash up before lying on the bed like a “sick patient.”

In a little while, Secretary Wang came with the brown sugar. He looked at his boss quietly with pity in his eyes, gave him the items and left. Afterwards, Shen Chuchu drank the brown sugar water and laid down once more in bed. After a while, Han Xingyan, who had taken a shower, also laid down beside her.

Han Xingyan covered his hands and said, “My hands are cold. Wait a moment.”

For some unknown reason, Shen Chuchu’s stomach, which was not painful at first, began to hurt after he paid such close attention to it. In other words, because someone cared, she became more sensitive.

    “Okay.”

When Han Xingyan placed his hand on Shen Chuchu’s stomach, her entire body became sensitive. Shen Chuchu felt as his big palms rubbed that someone was sending her internal force continuously like in a martial arts novel.

    Shen Chuchu sighed comfortably, “Hm…”

“How is it? Does it still hurt?” Han Xingyan’s gentle voice rang in her ears.

Shen Chuchu shook her head, “No it doesn’t hurt anymore. Your hand must be tired. Take a rest.”

Han Xingyan smiled, “Mhm, okay. Don’t speak anymore. Go to sleep.”

Although he agreed to stop, his hands did not.

Shen Chuchu was relaxed and on the verge of falling asleep. Before falling asleep, she had a flashback to what had happened to Cai-jie.

This time was different because she was not sure what the thoughts of the two protagonists were in this story. Saving Director Chang’s wife and Dong Ziyuan’s mother were all related to saving someone’s life and she would do it even if it meant putting herself in danger. When it came to giving people marriage advice on the Internet, she could also be straightforward because they had communicated and knew her client’s thoughts.

But Cai-jie was different. She was not familiar with their relationship and it would annoy her if she was too involved. What if, as she suspected, they were both aware of each other’s marital status?

Shen Chuchu drifted off to sleep, thinking that since the situation was not life-threatening, she should not meddle in their affairs.

However, by the next day, Shen Chuchu decided otherwise after hearing the conversation between Cai-jie and the assistant director.

When she woke up the next morning, Han Xingyan was no longer beside her. However, Han XIngyan appeared through the door as she got up and asked, “Does your stomach still hurt? Do you want me to call in sick for you with the director?”

Shen Chuchu shook her head, “It doesn’t hurt anymore. Thank you for last night.”

“You don’t need to thank me. Go and wash up then have some food.”

Wang Qian witnessed this scene when she came to find Shen Chuchu. After one night, it seemed the temperature between her boss and CEO Han was quickly rising.

They ate while glancing at each other accompanied by sweet laughter.

After Shen Chuchu left, Han Xingyan looked around the empty room and felt as if a world had vanished. He wanted to follow Shen Chuchu to the set, but he knew that as a public figure, their relationship was not appropriate for public disclosure, so he did not ask.

But he still felt somewhat at a loss.

When Secretary Wang came over, Han Xingyan said, “Check to see if the investment in this film has been made.”

Secretary Wang looked at the boss, studied his expression, and nodded knowingly. Even if it wasn’t placed yet, no one would refuse to accept the investment. The boss was very involved with his girlfriend.

Due to physical reasons, Shen Chuchu went to the bathroom a little more frequently today. And the bathroom was where a lot of gossip spread, and she had the good fortune to hear a lot of interesting gossip. But the gossip she was listening to now made her feel bad.

“When are you getting married so I can drink at the wedding feast?” Shen Chuchu could tell from the voice that this was the assistant director.

“Soon. It’s next month.” This was Cai-jie’s voice.

“Okay, it’s not been easy for you. He seems to be good to you.”

“Oh yeah, last time you said he and his wife were finalising their divorce. It is finalised now? This must be sorted.”

    “Yes. They finalised last month.”

“Of course. You are getting married soon. That was a silly question.”

Gradually, the voices started to fade away.

    “…second marriage…”

“…divorced woman…don’t mind other people, as long as he is good to you.”

“…as only as he doesn’t have a child, a second marriage is the same…”

After a long time, Shen Chuchu opened the toilet door solemnly.

  • I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 4

    Voting of the School Hunk

    “Charge, charge, charge~!”

“Ahhhh~! Vote for him! Help lao zi* to vote!”

*lao zi refers to oneself in third person informally in an arrogant manner

Wen Le laughed upon seeing this scene, and said: “What are you guys doing, why are y’all so excited?”

Roommate Cheng Hui said: “Have you forgotten what day it is today?”

Wen Le was taken aback, “What day is it?”

Roommate Man Qing turned over and stared at Wen Le with a solemn face. In a moment, her serious face broke apart and she shouted excitedly, “It’s the day of the BBS school hunk selection!”

Wen Le suddenly came to a realization, “Got it.”

Roommate Bao Xiaofan was still fiddling with her phone, and after a few taps, suddenly put it down and shouted: “Quick! Lele, vote for number three, the dormitory is short of just your vote! Quickly! The deadline is only three minutes away! Hurry!”

Wen Le waved her hands, “You’ve forgotten, I don’t have this BBS application.”

As a BBS campus celebrity, Wen Le did not want to see what others posted about her on the BBS app. She had uninstalled the BBS app a long while ago, and she did not have anything like a campus confession page.

Bao Xiaofan waved her hand “It’s okay! That isn’t important! I will send you the link on WeChat, and you can click on it and vote for number three.”

Man Qingxuan interlocked her hands together, and brimming with tears, said, “You don’t even know how important your vote is to us.”

Wen Le, “I don’t know ah.”

Dorm leader Cheng Hui nibbled on an apple while lying on the bed, and said vaguely, “One of the candidates this year is an influencer. He was super shameless and mobilized his fans to vote for him, which led to an unrealistically high number of votes for him. We’re choosing our own school hunk, why are these outsiders interfering with our business? Although he looks a little handsome, he’s treating his title as the faculty hunk as if he’s invincible and the best. This disruptive operation of his is really ruining the popularity of the school’s genuine votes.”

Bao Xiaofan clapped her hands and said, “This person is simply ridiculous. You have to know that the school hunk also represents the attractiveness index of our school, and is the face and benefit of us girls. A school hunk with amazing visuals can break the public’s attitude towards our “A” university’s inherent impression. It shows that although we have a lot of top students, our physical appearance is also not bad. Moreover, a dark horse has appeared this year, and that attractive face, build, and temperament are absolutely enough to beat the school hunk of every university. You see, such a deity, if he’s not the school hunk, then who is?”

Man Qingxuan also echoed in agreement, “Originally, the throne of school hunk definitely belonged to candidate three with his looks. But that influencer just had to interfere and create this situation, and so his number of votes was raised all of a sudden. Our candidate three’s school hunk position is in imminent danger.”

Wen Le clicked on the link and curiously asked, “So now the influencer candidate has the most votes?”

Cheng Hui laughed sarcastically after hearing that, “That’s not possible.”

Bao Xiaofan also stood up proudly, puffing her chest, and said, “BBS specially started a thread this afternoon for this matter. Since influencers can mobilize their fans, then we can also mobilize our friends and family. After an afternoon of fierce battle, we finally pulled the votes of candidate three up! Ah Lele, are you done? There are only two minutes left!”

Wen Le was unable to scroll the page, “I don’t know how to.”

Just at this moment, the dorm leader suddenly yelled, “F**k! The number of votes for the influencer has caught up! AHHHHH! Hurry up, it’s about to get closer! Quickly, Wen Le! We cannot even let go of one vote! Hurry, there’s less than a minute now!”

Bao Xiaofan and Man Qingxuan also shouted nervously, “AHHHH! They are just two more votes away from catching up! Lele, Lele!”

Wen Le got nervous too as they started to shout, “Okay, okay, don’t stress me.”

The green progress bar finally reached the end, and the blank page was refreshed. Just as Wen Le breathed a sigh of relief, she heard Cheng Hui yell, “F**k! The number of votes came to a draw! Wen Le!”

Wen Le’s hand trembled, quickly scrolled down the page, and hurriedly selected candidate three, then clicked OK to submit the vote.

The page showed that the vote was successful, and the time had just reached ten o’clock, signalling the official end of voting.

Wen Le sighed a breath of relief collectively with the rest, and said, “So what’s the end result?”

The three of them jabbed at the air with their phones, and after a moment Bao Xiaofan screamed out, “AHHHHHH! We made it! Contestant number three! Is! The school hunk!”

Then, there was a burst of cheers in the dorm and vaguely, Wen Le could also hear cheers coming from the dorm next door. At that moment, Wen Le was at a loss, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

Cheng Hui put her phone down and patted Wen Le on the shoulder, “Thank you, comrade! Thank you for giving the crucial vote at the final moment. Student Zhou Kao finally won the title of the school hunk by one vote. Lele, congratulations, you personally sent our candidate three, Zhou Kao, to the throne of school hunk.”

Wen Le was stunned for a moment upon hearing that, and her brain went into overdrive, “Who did you say contestant three was?”

Cheng Hui replied, “Zhou Kao, the School of Law’s Zhou Kao.”

Wen Le was taken aback, “The sophomore one?”

The dorm leader said, “Yeah, or else a freshman? Most of our freshmen are in the east campus, and not in the main campus, so they do not participate in the selection of the school hunk. Only the sophomores, who have returned to the main campus, can participate in the selections.”

    Wen Le: “…”

She was so pressed by their urging that she had voted without seeing the photo at all.

F**k, she had actually personally voted this scumbag as the school hunk.

    –

Wen Le felt that her luck had gone worse ever since meeting Zhou Kao.

For a week in a row, it was firstly her submitted manuscripts that were being rejected and requested to be rewritten. Then in the afternoon, the activities arranged by the Student Union suddenly had problems, which caused chaos. Worse still, someone had spread the news about Wen Le and Zhou Kao.

Once you get on the bandwagon, there is no getting off it. Wen Le finally got to know what this felt like.

On Wednesday afternoon’s general education class, Wen Le and her roommates arrived to attend the lecture a little early, and they habitually sat in the third row by the window. These seats were near the front but were also not conspicuous. Wen Le and her roommates had thus always liked these seats.

On WeChat, a classmate from the same department of the Student Association had messaged that he could not go on duty in the afternoon and wanted to change shifts with Wen Le. Wen Le flipped through her class schedule and memo and was about to reply to him when she suddenly felt a light pat.

Wen Le looked up, and realised it was a girl from the same faculty but from a different course. She was rather familiar to the eye, but Wen Le had never interacted with her before and was not close to her.

Wen Le’s expression was a little puzzled, and her beautiful eyes showed a sense of innocence, “Is there something wrong?”

The girl had a bob hairstyle, with bangs and big eyes, and her nose was a little flat. However, her skin was very fair and she wore tomato-red lipstick, looking super cutesy.

The girl had yet to speak, and she was first shocked by Wen Le’s beauty. She raised her hand to cover her mouth and softly exclaimed out, “OMG, so pretty.”

Wen Le was accustomed to being praised, and almost subconsciously showed a shy and gentle smile. When faced with other people’s praise of her appearance, she did not know how to respond, so she always responded with a smile.

The girl then remembered her purpose of coming here to find Wen Le. She smoothed her bangs embarrassedly, and asked in a low voice, “Excuse me, I’m Pan Yingying from Class 2. We’re from the same faculty, and I’ve been hearing them spread the news that you and the school hunk are together. So I wanted to come and ask you, is this true?”

There was a gaze in Pan Yingying’s eyes that made Wen Le feel a little familiar. Seeing the girl’s gaze, Wen Le kept feeling a sense of  deja vu, however, at this moment, Wen Le’s attention was drawn away by Pan Yingying’s words, “The new school hunk?”

Pan Yingying said, “It’s Zhou Kao!”

Wen Le was taken aback at first, and then something exploded in Wen Le’s brain with a boom, and her face quickly flushed red.

At the moment, the thoughts and comments flashing through Wen Le’s mind were:

‘One can not survive  the disaster one brings to oneself, an impulse is akin to the devil’s whisper, it’s impossible to get off a tiger once you ride on it, so embarrassing…’

Throughout all these years, she acted on impulse just this once due to drinking on a whim, and almost lost her entire face.

You always have to pay it back when you go out to play.

Wen Le put on a fake smile, trying her best to make herself seem calm and casual, and said, “Who said so? There’s no such thing.”

As soon as these words were spoken, Wen Le felt all the more that there was no problem at all.

Anyway, she had drunk alcohol that day, so it did not count.

Thinking about it like that, Wen Le did not feel guilty anymore. She ran her hand through her hair lightly and smiled brightly, “If someone asks again, please help me to clarify this rumour.

These kinds of rumours are not good for both parties, especially if the other party already has someone they like. Right? You should know that too.”

Yes, as long as she was thick-skinned, she would not be embarrassed or guilty.

“Ah…” Pan Yingying let out a disappointed sigh when she heard her words, and said in dismay, “Actually, I think you guys are quite a good match…”

    Wen Le: ! ! !

What is this student saying? This was totally unfounded, okay!

After Pan Yingying left, Wen Le responded to the message on WeChat and changed her shift with that classmate.

Cheng Hui nudged Wen Le, “Le ah, what’s going on?”

Wen Le blinked her eyes, “What?”

Cheng Hui said, “About you and Zhou Kao; since when did you get involved with Zhou Kao? So many people asked me on WeChat this morning about when you two got together.”

    Wen Le: ! ! !

    Wen Le, “I’m not, I didn’t!”

She then murmured, “How did the news even spread so quickly? Such big mouths!”

Cheng Hui, “What news? What exactly happened?”

Wen Le saw that the time was still early, and there were only a few people sitting around them. She moved to Cheng Hui’s side, lowered her voice, and gave a general summary of what happened.

After listening to her story, Cheng Hui was shocked, “So, Zhou Kao is actually your high school classmate?”

Wen Le hurriedly tugged at Cheng Hui, and said in a low voice, “Keep your voice down!”

Cheng Hui pulled her mouth close like a zipper.

Wen Le whispered, “Actually, we are not quite considered classmates. He was in our school for less than a semester, and we were in different classes too. We’ve only met several times.”

They competed with each other from afar. Or in other words, she had one-sidedly competed against him.

Cheng Hui still felt it was a little unbelievable, “You used him as an excuse, and he agreed?”

Wen Le nodded, “He cares quite a bit about  the whole concept of gentleman’s chivalry.”

Cheng Hui clicked her tongue twice, and glanced at Wen Le suspiciously, “Be honest, Lele, you really don’t like him?”

Wen Le scoffed upon hearing that: “Such a bastard if I were to like him, my last name will be his!”

Cheng Hui frowned, pursed her lips, and shook her head, “But he’s really super handsome. Didn’t you even vote for him to be the school hunk?”

Wen Le turned around and looked at Cheng Hui, with accusations of being deceived written all over her eyes, “That’s because you guys made me jump into a hole!”

Cheng Hui mischievously smiled, “But he’s super handsome, Lele.”

Wen Le put on a fake smile, and said, “Lao niang* is also super beautiful, okay?!”

*lao niang is a colloquial term referring to “I, this old woman” (often to show that one is like a lady boss in charge of herself)
