    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 78

Epilogue 8: Xin Li & Xie Yuran

In October, Zhang Muqing really did return to the country.

The Zhang family hosted a banquet for her, and both brothers from the Xie family were among the invitees.

Since losing his sight, Xie Shuo had been living reclusively, rarely appearing in public, and he had no intention of attending. Therefore, Xie Yuran was going alone.

Having heard the news from her brother, Xin Li spent a restless night feeling frustrated.

Picking up her phone, she opened and exited her chat with Xie Yuran several times.

She strongly wanted to send him an unreasonable message, commanding him not to go, but she was acutely aware that she didn’t have that right.

These days, his tolerance toward her was nothing more than just using her to pass the time, just playing with her.

Ultimately, she threw her phone away and punched her pillow for a while to vent, forcing herself to forget about it.

The next day, Xin Yu came to visit her. Seeing her looking downcast, he couldn’t help but frown and advised, “Since he’s not interested in you, don’t delude yourself into approaching him.”

Hearing these words, Xin Li became even more depressed. She also knew that what her brother said was correct, and she should cut her losses in time to save face but she was not reconciled.

    ……

Not long after the banquet at the Zhang family, the Xie family also hosted one—Xie Baiyan’s birthday celebration.

Due to Xie Shuo’s blindness, this birthday banquet was relatively low-key with only a few invited guests.

Originally, Xin Li was not on the guest list and had little interest in attending. However, upon hearing that Zhang Muqing would be there, her interest sparked, and she asked Xin Yuanhong to ask for an invitation for her.

It had been a while since she and Xie Yuran had seen each other. They had just been talking through the internet lately. Even if they were to sever ties completely, they needed to clarify things face to face.

Xin Yuanhong thought she just wanted to attend the banquet for fun, so he didn’t ask further.

On the day of the banquet, Xin Li hired a professional makeup artist and spent four to five hours getting ready. She didn’t go until she was satisfied with her appearance.

Inside the banquet hall, it was brightly lit as if it were daytime. As soon as Xin Li entered, she spotted Zhang Muqing. Compared to a year ago, she hadn’t changed much, still maintaining that dignified and elegant appearance.

Besides Zhang Muqing, Xin Li also spotted Xie Shuo’s wife, Ye An. After Xie Shuo became blind and had limited mobility, the Xie family arranged a marriage for him—someone who could take care of him closely.

The wife of Xie Shuo was quite stunning, and Xin Li couldn’t help but look a few times at her.

Initially, Zhang Muqing was talking to Xie Shuo, but Xie Yuran suddenly walked over, interrupting them and said something to Zhang Muqing with a smile.

Xie Shuo and Ye An then left, heading to a corner to rest.

Holding a crystal glass, Xin Li watched the two of them, who were chatting with a smile under the lights, from a distance. A lump formed in her heart, and she nearly crushed the glass in her hand.

She couldn’t understand what was so special about that woman that made him so devoted to her.

Then again, wasn’t she just another version of him?

She clearly knew the outcome but foolishly made the same mistake over and over again.

After staring at the two of them for a while, she turned away and walked to the side, unwilling to subject herself to further pain.

However, after just a few steps, she accidentally bumped into Ye An, who was coming from the other direction. The red wine in her glass spilled out, staining her gown.

    “I’m sorry…”

    Xin Li quickly apologized.

Fortunately, Ye An had a good temper and didn’t get angry. Xin Li accompanied her upstairs to change her gown, chatting casually along the way.

When she came back downstairs, Xie Yuran finally finished catching up with Zhang Muqing and went over to Xie Baiyan’s side to help entertain the guests.

Xin Li circled around in the crowd and found his figure. She grabbed another glass of wine and leaned against a table, sipping it slowly.

Inside the crystal glass, the red wine rippled, reflecting a shimmering light.

After a while, she saw Ye An coming down from upstairs alone. Feeling bored, Xin Li took the initiative to strike up a conversation with her.

The wine in her glass gradually diminished, and Xin Li began to feel a bit drunk. The scene in front of her became somewhat blurry.

Thus, she didn’t continue chatting with Ye An. Stepping on her high heels, she swayed through the crowd toward where Xie Yuran was.

Before she could get close, Xie Yuran’s gaze fell on her, and he paused.

As Xin Li walked up to him and brushed past him, she pretended to accidentally bump into him.

Xie Yuran raised his hand and grabbed her arm.

Taking advantage of the situation, Xin Li leaned in close to his ear and whispered, “I’ll wait for you upstairs.”

After saying that, she glanced at him meaningfully before she continued walking, heading upstairs.

Xie Yuran watched her retreating figure. Not long after, he also excused himself from the lively crowd, quietly making his way upstairs.

Xin Li was waiting for him on the balcony. Tonight, she wore a black, off-the-shoulder dress. The cool night breeze helped sober her up a bit.

Seeing him arrive so quickly, Xin Li was somewhat surprised. She thought he might ignore her or delay it for a while.

Xie Yuran approached her, his gaze sweeping over her exposed shoulders, landing on her flushed face.

“Not feeling well? Do you need to go to a room to rest for a while?”

He asked, adopting a caring host’s demeanor.

Xin Li looked at him, and the scene of him chatting and laughing with Zhang Muqing at first flashed across her mind, and her mood instantly soured.

She indeed wasn’t feeling well, but it wasn’t physical; it was emotional.

    “No need.”

As soon as she spoke, she sneezed.

Xie Yuran glanced at her partially exposed shoulders and collarbone again, saying gently, “It’s cold at night. Wear more clothes and be careful not to catch a cold.”

Leaning back against the railing, Xin Li smiled and raised an eyebrow. “You’re this concerned about me?”

Xie Yuran didn’t respond, just looking at her.

The balcony was dimly lit, making his eyes appear much deeper than usual.

“Why don’t you ask me why I called you up here?”

Seeing him silent, Xin Li asked.

Xie Yuran smiled slightly, following her lead, “Why did you call me up here?”

Looking at him slightly drunkenly, Xin Li smirked., “Guess?”

Before he could react, she suddenly lunged forward and pressed him into the nearby corner. Gripping onto his shoulders, she kissed him.

Her movements were too abrupt, and she almost tumbled onto him. Taking a few steps back, Xie Yuran instinctively held her waist, preventing her from falling.

Their lips met, and the air grew tense in the darkness.

Xin Li gripped him, kissing him without any restraint as if venting her frustration.

The balcony directly faced the living room, and the curtains were not drawn. If someone passed by, they would be able to see what was going on.

Coincidentally, at that moment, faint footsteps sounded from the direction of the living room. Xie Yuran’s expression changed slightly. He gripped her arm and sternly whispered before pushing her apart.

Hearing the footsteps as well, Xin Li let go of him and peeked inside. She only caught a glimpse of a slender figure disappearing around the corner of the hallway.

After recognizing the person in a split second, Xin Li withdrew her gaze and looked back at Xie Yuran. Seeing his nervous expression, she inexplicably felt pleased.

She raised her chin proactively and teased, “What? Afraid of being seen?”

Xie Yuran glanced at her., “Aren’t you afraid?”

Xin Li felt a hint of guilt, but she quickly suppressed it and said, “What do I have to be afraid of?”

After all, her mother, Mrs. Xu, wasn’t around.

Meeting her fearless gaze, Xie Yuran’s expression changed slightly. There seemed to be a lingering taste of her on his lips, and the warm sensation persisted.

Feeling a rising heat, he realized that he, too, was pretty drunk.

Thinking he might leave angrily, Xin Li was surprised when he reached out to support her instead. “Let me take you to a room to rest.”

Xin Li had a bit too much to drink and was feeling a bit tipsy. She reached out and held onto his arm instead. “No need, just take me home.”

Xie Yuran turned his head slightly.

For her to come and attend the banquet, there should be a chauffeur from home to pick her up, and there was no need for him to send her back.

However, Xin Li was determined to have him take her back, gripping onto his arm with an expression of “if you don’t take me home, I won’t let go.”

He had experienced her willful, heiress temper before. After a few seconds of locking eyes with her, Xie Yuran ultimately chose to compromise.

He went downstairs and exchanged a few words with Xie Baiyan before calling his chauffeur over and leaving with her.

Throughout the ride, Xin Li leaned on him, surprisingly quiet, leaving him curious about what might be on her mind.

Xie Yuran escorted her back into her condo. Seeing that she was pretty drunk, he decided to help her into her bedroom.

The lights suddenly turned on, a bit too glaring.

He helped her lay down on the bed and pulled the blanket over her before saying softly, “Rest well. I’ll be leaving first.”

As he tried to leave, Xin Li unexpectedly embraced him from behind. “Don’t go.”

    Xie Yuran was taken aback.

Xin Li wrapped her arms around his waist, resting her chin on his shoulder, and muttered, “What exactly do you mean? If you don’t like me, why do you care so much about me?”

Xie Yuran turned around and saw her hazy gaze, the corners of her eyes slightly tinged with red.

    “Say something!”

She grabbed his tie and pulled it forcefully. “Explain yourself… Are you doing this on purpose…”

She had originally decided to give up, but he chose to confuse her again.

Xie Yuran looked down, gazing at her intently. Before he could respond, his lips were suddenly sealed.

Xin Li wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him again. Afraid that he might push her away, she used a considerable amount of force.

A faint fragrance mixed with the scent of alcohol invaded the space between their lips, gradually stirring the dormant desires.

Xie Yuran encircled her waist, and before he could make a move, she pushed him down onto the bed; the fabric of their clothes was in disarray.

The soft and still lighting cast reflections of their tangled and disheveled figures…

    ……

For Xin Li, the experience of this night was not that good, and one might even describe it as quite terrible.

Perhaps it was because both of them were drunk.

The next day, Xin Li woke up early with her head throbbing and her body aching.

Xie Yuran lay beside her, eyes closed, still asleep.

When he was asleep, his features looked even more handsome. A few strands of black hair lightly rested on his forehead, giving him a somewhat girlish look—innocent and harmless, making it hard to blame him.

Xin Li turned around and looked at him, recalling the events of last night with a myriad of emotions.

Their clothes were scattered on the floor in a disheveled mess.

She got up quietly and picked up the fallen clothes before wearing them and entering the bathroom to freshen up.

The sound of running water woke up the person still in bed. When Xin Li came out of the bathroom, Xie Yuran had already put on his clothes and was sitting at the edge of the bed.

His white shirt hung loosely on him, untucked. His collar was open, revealing the dubious hickeys on his collarbone and chest.

With a towel wrapped around her body, Xin Li paused in her steps and glanced at him before continuing onward to her closet to get dressed.

They were both adults, and there was nothing to make a fuss about regarding such matters, especially since she had initiated it last night.

If one were to be particular, she had also made a loss.

The sunlight outside climbed onto the windowsill, casting a bright glow behind her. Xie Yuran watched her enter the closet before getting up to go to the bathroom, too.

There were no clothes for him to change into, so he could only take a quick shower.

After he finished showering, the bedroom was empty. He left the room and found Xin Li in the living room.

She was lying on the sofa, engrossed on her phone.

Xie Yuran walked over and stopped in front of her. He was just about to say something when the doorbell suddenly rang.

Xin Li’s eyes lit up, and she quickly got up, slipping on her slippers as she headed toward the door.

As she took the first step, Xie Yuran noticed that her posture seemed a bit awkward as if she was not entirely comfortable.

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 77

Epilogue 7: Xin Li & Xie Yuran

    “Do you need a ride?”

Xin Li’s mind was in a mess, not quite understanding the meaning behind his actions.

    Wasn’t he ignoring me?

But now, he’s offering to give me a ride?

Lost in thought for a couple of seconds, Xin Li subconsciously followed him into the car.

Once inside, the two sat side by side in the rear, maintaining silence.

The neon lights in the city flashed by, and there was a subtle tension in the air inside the car.

    “Have you been busy lately?”

As they approached the condominium where Xin Li lived, Xie Yuran finally spoke, breaking the silence.

Upon hearing this, Xin Li turned to look at him and replied, “Not really, not too busy.”

Hearing this, Xie Yuran’s gaze lingered on her face for a moment. It seemed like he wanted to ask something more but decided against it.

His demeanor tonight was somewhat unusual.

Xin Li propped her elbow on the window edge, staring at him momentarily before asking, “Why did you choose to give me a ride tonight?”

She had a bit much to drink, so her voice carried a hint of intoxication. The corners of her eyes exuded a hint of allure.

Meeting her inquisitive gaze, Xie Yuran said calmly, “It’s late, and you’re a girl. It’s not safe.”

    “Is that so?”

Xin Li chuckled, not looking at him anymore, and turned to gaze at the night scenery outside the window.

Looking dazedly at her side profile bathed in soft light, a fleeting sense of something flickered in his eyes.

She seemed to have changed a lot after not seeing each other for a long time. In the past, she would never have reacted like this, nor would she have turned her head away from him.

In actuality, he had only blurted out offering her a ride because he saw the young man following her and subconsciously felt it was not proper.

As for why he felt that way, he didn’t delve into it.

Not long after, the chauffeur stopped the car at Xin Li’s condominium.

“Thank you for sending me back.”

Xin Li expressed her thanks and opened the car door to get out. Just as her foot touched the ground, she swayed a bit, stumbling for a moment.

Worried that she might twist her ankle again, Xie Yuran also got out of the car.

    “Are you okay?”

He reached out to support her.

Xin Li steadied herself with his help, shaking her head.

Xie Yuran was still worried, so he helped her all the way into the elevator.

Glancing at him, Xin Li suddenly found it a bit perplexing. If he wasn’t interested in her, why was he so caring? He hadn’t responded to her flirting before. On the other hand, if he did have feelings for her, there were no clear indications.

Could it be that he enjoyed the attention of being pursued by me?

Or was he leading me on as a backup since he couldn’t have Zhang Muqing?

In the enclosed space, it was just the two of them. Neither of them said anything.

A faint scent of alcohol hung in the air, teasing their senses.

As the elevator stopped on Xin Li’s floor, the doors opened, and she stepped out, walking to the front of her condo. She looked down and entered the passcode to unlock her door.

Xie Yuran followed behind her, watching as she unlocked the door. When she finished, he withdrew his hand and said, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave.”

Xin Li had just opened the door when she heard his words, causing her to pause.

Suddenly, she turned around and leaned against the doorframe, smiling mischievously. “You don’t wanna come in and sit for a bit?”

The corridor was dimly lit, and her eyes sparkled as she looked at him. Xie Yuran gazed back at her, neither answering nor hurrying to leave.

Xin Li chuckled and glanced at him before suddenly leaning in and placing her hand on his shoulder, whispering into his ear, “Do you know that your behavior tonight can easily lead to misunderstandings?”

As she spoke, she turned to meet his gaze with a slightly intoxicated expression.

    Xie Yuran lowered his eyes.

Many fragmented scenes flashed through his mind. Before he could react, Xin Li tiptoed and gave him a peck on the lips like a dragonfly touching the water.

Xie Yuran was momentarily taken aback.

Xin Li let go of him, and before entering her condo, she raised an eyebrow at him. There was a hint of triumph in the corners of her eyes and lips as if she had just done something extraordinary.

Soon after, the door closed tightly, leaving Xie Yuran alone outside.

Facing the closed door, Xie Yuran was in a daze for a moment before smirking and turning around to leave.

Inside the condo, Xin Li leaned against the door, belatedly realizing that her face felt a bit warm.

She kicked off her high heels and staggered into the living room before collapsing on the sofa.

Lying on her back, she thought about the scene just now, and the feelings that had been pent up for a long time inexplicably eased.

If only he had mentioned that there was someone in his heart earlier, she wouldn’t have wasted so much time and effort on him. Not taking advantage of the situation would have been a real loss.

Moreover, he delivered himself to the door today.

    ……

After that night, their relationship seemed to have reverted back to before. Occasionally, when Xin Li felt playful, she would send him a message to flirt with him.

So what if there was someone he liked?

As long as they aren’t together, I don’t believe I can’t win him over.

Xie Yuran’s attitude had improved somewhat compared to before. He no longer explicitly rejected her advances, but he also didn’t exhibit overly warm behavior.

A little over a month later, it was Xin Li’s birthday.

That night, Xin Li held a party with a group of close friends to celebrate.

She had confirmed with her friends three days in advance, and after much internal struggle, Xin Li decided not to invite Xie Yuran.

She had wanted to take this opportunity to invite him out, but she was afraid of being too conspicuous. If news reached her parents’ ears, it might complicate things.

In order to subtly remind Xie Yuran, she deliberately made a post on WeChat around noon, showcasing her birthday cake and the gifts she received.

However, there was no response from Xie Yuran even until late at night. He hadn’t even liked her post as if he were completely unaware of the occasion.

In the reserved private room, Xin Li had fun with her friends while constantly checking her phone. The more she checked, the more frustrated she felt.

Did he not see it, or he just didn’t care?

Around 10 p.m., Xin Li excused herself and went to the restroom to take a breather.

Coming out of the restroom and still not finding the message she hoped for on her phone, she was burning with anger. Unable to contain herself, she called Xie Yuran.

The phone rang for quite a while before he answered, sounding a bit weary. “Hello?”

Leaning against the sink, Xin Li said muffledly, “Hey, are you busy?”

The sound of the door opening echoed through the phone, and Xie Yuran asked, “Just got home; do you need something?”

Already in a bad mood, Xin Li became even more unhappy upon hearing his words. “Do I have to have something to call you?”

Detecting that she had been drinking, Xie Yuran chose not to argue with her.

Xin Li shifted to the side. While looking down at the floor, she said aggrievedly, “You didn’t see WeChat? It’s my birthday today.”

Xie Yuran paused and said, “My uncle is ill. I’ve been at the hospital all day.”

Hearing this reason, Xin Li felt a bit better and asked, “How is Uncle Xie? Is it serious?”

Xie Yuran replied, “It’s nothing serious.”

Feeling reassured, Xin Li continued, “I’ve invited some friends to celebrate. Do you want to join us for a bit?”

On the other end of the call, Xie Yuran entered the living room from the entrance and loosened his tie, looking weary. “It’s too late. Maybe next time.”

“Next time will be a whole year away.”

Xin Li pursed her lips and began to playfully pester him, emboldened by alcohol, “Then come pick me up.”

Deep down, she knew that making such a request, given their current relationship, was somewhat unreasonable. However, she couldn’t help herself; she wanted to test his limits.

“It’s my birthday today, and you won’t even fulfill this small wish of mine?”

There was about a two to three-second silence from Xie Yuran’s end, and then he signed in a resigned tone, “Where are you?”

Xin Li grinned happily and gave him the address.

    ……

About half an hour later, Xie Yuran arrived at the club that Xin Li mentioned.

After parking his car in the parking lot, he gave a call to Xin Li.

After answering the call, Xin Li said bye to her friends and picked up her purse before leaving.

Her friends, not ready to end the night, expressed their dissatisfaction, “It’s still early; why’s the birthday girl leaving already?”

Walking toward the door, Xin Li waved to them, “My mom asked me to come home. Have a great time; I’ve already settled the bill.”

Outside the club, the streetlights elongated their shadows.

Xie Yuran stood with one hand in his pocket, waiting by the bushes for a while until he finally saw her coming out.

In the late spring, early summer night, there was still a slight chill. She was wearing a knee-length skirt, her slender legs were fair.

    “You’re here?”

Upon seeing him, she grinned drunkenly, reminiscent of the night they first met.

Momentarily stunned, Xie Yuran said to her, “Happy birthday.”

Taking a step forward, Xin Li pretended to be unsteady on her feet and fell into his arms.

Leaning against him, she grabbed his shirt around the waist and looked up, complaining, “Your birthday wish came too late. In a little over an hour, today will be over.”

The scent of alcohol mixed with a faint fragrance wafted through the air. Seeing that she was quite drunk, Xie Yuran wrapped his arm around her exposed shoulder and guided her into the car.

After closing the door, he walked around the front and got into the driver’s seat.

Leaning against the passenger seat, Xin Li looked a bit dazed, and she didn’t even fasten her seatbelt.

Xie Yuran’s hands were on the steering wheel, preparing to drive away. Seeing her like this, he could only lean over and help her fasten her seatbelt.

With a handsome face so close, Xin Li blinked her long lashes, focusing on his lips. Suddenly, an impulse to steal a kiss surged within her.

She couldn’t help but lean forward, but before she could make contact, Xie Yuran already sat back up.

Before returning to his original position, he glanced at her, seemingly seeing through her intentions.

Not embarrassed, Xin Li turned to the side and continued to stare at him.

As she looked, drowsiness overwhelmed her, and her eyelids gradually drooped.

Xie Yuran gripped the steering wheel, looking straight ahead, occasionally glancing her way.

When she was asleep, she seemed more well-behaved than usual. The mischievous glint in her eyes was completely concealed. Her eyelashes neatly drooped as she breathed evenly.

    ……

Upon reaching the condominium, Xin Li was still slightly tipsy, her gaze unfocused.

    “We’re here.”

Xie Yuran opened the door, unfastened her seatbelt, and gently patted her shoulder to wake her up.

Xin Li opened her eyes and got out of the car in a daze.

As soon as she did, she slumped into his arms.

Holding her close, Xie Yuran realized she was quite drunk. He decided to escort her upstairs and walk her into her condo.

Just as he reached back to close the door, his phone in his pocket suddenly rang.

Taking out his phone, he answered the call while holding onto her and walking inside.

Leaning against his shoulder, Xin Li listened to his conversation, which seemed to be related to the truth behind Xie Shuo’s car accident.

There had been increasing rumors lately claiming that Xie Shuo’s car accident was closely linked to Xie Yuran, alleging that he orchestrated it all to secure the successor position to the Xie family.

Guiding her to sit on the sofa, Xie Yuran hung up the phone. His expression was no longer relaxed like before, looking somewhat irritated.

Xin Li asked muddleheadedly, “Are you investigating your brother’s accident?”

Xie Yuran looked at her and replied with a soft “En.”

Xin Li continued, “How’s the investigation going?”

Xie Yuran didn’t answer her. Instead, he went to find a cup before pouring some warm water and handing it to her.

When it came to the private matters of the Xie family, he was reluctant to share. Sensing this, Xin Li didn’t press further. Taking the cup of warm water, she took a few sips and started to regain some clarity.

Placing the cup down, she suddenly reached out to him, her eyes sparkling. “Where’s my birthday present?”

Xie Yuran was taken aback. He had just learned that today was her birthday, and there was no time to prepare a present.

Looking at her fair palm, he thought for a moment before taking out his phone and sending her a red envelope.

    Xin Li: “…….”

“Who cares about your red envelope? There’s no sincerity at all!”

Xin Li was almost infuriated by him. She retracted her hand and leaned back on the sofa, tilting her head back. Her black skirt slid up a bit with her movement, revealing a snowy section above her knee.

The light cascaded from above, landing on her face and illuminating the flush on her face.

Looking at her, Xie Yuran suddenly felt a bit warm. He unbuttoned one button of his collar, revealing a bit of his collarbone.

Afraid she wouldn’t let it go, he said, “I’ll get you something in a couple of days.”

Staring at him unbuttoning his collar, Xin Li insisted, “A couple of days is too late. I want it now.”

Xie Yuran’s head began to throb. He didn’t know how he ended up so good-naturedly playing along with her antics.

Suddenly, Xin Li pounced forward, forcefully pushing him onto the sofa before nibbling his semi-exposed collarbone.

Caught off guard, Xie Yuran frowned, gripping her waist to try and get up.

However, Xin Li wouldn’t let him. Using both hands and feet, she held him down and tugged at his shirt before biting him again, this time with more force than before.

Soft strands of her hair brushed against their necks. Xie Yuran let her indulge in her antics for a while, but when she attempted to go further, he finally couldn’t endure it. He turned, sitting up and taking control, moving her to the side.

    “Xin Li!”

He scolded hoarsely, his words seemingly squeezed out of his throat with difficulty.

Xin Li, her back against the sofa, looked up upon hearing his words. She met a pair of pitch-black eyes, something indistinct churning within them.

The man’s scorching breath puffed across her face, yet she showed no fear. She reached out and poked at the red mark on his collarbone, created by her bites. Her eyes flickered, and she smiled wantonly.

“This can be considered my birthday present.”

Xie Yuran’s expression darkened. Pressing against her, it seemed like he might kiss her in the next second.

The air in the room became still, and silence enveloped the surroundings. Only the breaths of the two intermingled, creating an atmosphere of lingering ambiguity.

Xin Li looked at him and blinked, a hint of inexplicable anticipation in her eyes.

However, she waited and waited but didn’t see any further action from him.

Xie Yuran stared into her eyes, maintaining the position for a moment before releasing her and standing up.

Without looking at her again, he turned away slightly and said, “It’s getting late; rest well.”

After saying that, he left her condo without turning back.

The closing of the door echoed with a solid thud. Xin Li finally relaxed completely, leaning back on the sofa, her eyes sparkling as if they held a sky full of stars.

Recalling the scene just now, she couldn’t help but burst into laughter.

    ……

The next day, when Xin Li woke and recalled the events of last night, it all felt like a dream.

She got out of bed and reached for her phone before opening Xie Yuran’s WeChat.

The last message between them was the red envelope he sent.

Xin Li didn’t accept the red envelope and sent him a message: “Morning…”

She added a cute emoji for good measure.

Xie Yuran was probably busy as he replied more than half an hour later, “Sober now?”

Seeing this message, Xin Li could almost imagine his expression at the moment. She couldn’t help smiling and replied, “Awake.”

    Xie Yuran didn’t respond.

After pondering for a bit, Xin Li deliberately added, “Thank you for yesterday’s birthday present.”

    Xie Yuran: “……”

The bite mark on his collarbone seemed to still ache faintly.

Xin Li was overjoyed. She felt like he might block her any second, so after sending that message, she stopped teasing him and put down her phone before cheerfully getting up to get changed, and heading to her studio for work.

    ……

After July, Xin Li became busy due to her clothing brand studio’s participation in an international fashion competition, so she didn’t have much time to think about Xie Yuran during this period.

    This busyness continued until September.

During this time, her contact with Xie Yuran decreased significantly, only chatting occasionally when she had some free time.

At the end of September, after the competition concluded with the studio winning an award, they held a celebration party.

Amidst the liveliness, Xin Li, feeling a bit exhausted from the festivities with her colleagues, sat alone in a corner and chatted with her girlfriends.

Chatting away, one of her friends suddenly asked her, “By the way, do you still keep in touch with that Xie Yuran?”

Her friends weren’t aware that Xin Li was pursuing Xie Yuran again.

Before Xin Li could respond, her friend sent another message, “I heard that Zhang Muqing is about to return to the country. If you still have feelings for him, you better act fast, secure him first, and then figure things out.”

Seeing the two words “Zhang Muqing,” Xin Li’s good mood instantly diminished by half and even her desire to continue chatting disappeared.

For some people, the more unattainable something was, the more they cherish it.

In Xie Yuran’s heart, Zhang Muqing was most likely an unattainable love.

In the past, Zhang Muqing had feelings for Xie Shuo, so he had no chance. Now that Xie Shuo was blind and Xie Yuran had taken his position, there was a possibility that Zhang Muqing might turn back and look at him.

With the depth of his infatuation for Zhang Muqing, if she were to beckon with a finger one day, he must just rush over immediately.

She wouldn’t even compare to a single gesture from Zhang Muqing despite all the effort she had invested in pursuing him for such a long time.

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 76

Epilogue 6: Xin Li & Xie Yuran

“What do you like about me?”

Xin Li was caught off guard by this sudden question, momentarily choking on her words.

Noticing her reaction, Xie Yuran smiled again, dismissing it as a fleeting attraction for her and not taking it to heart.

He took off his suit jacket, tossing it onto the nearby sofa. A white button-up was neatly tucked into his tailored pants, buckled by a belt, showcasing his slender waist and long legs.

Xin Li glanced at him from head to toe, admiring his physique while saying, “I like your…”

Before she could finish her sentence, there was a sudden knock on the door.

    Both of them paused.

    “Yuran.”

It was the voice of a middle-aged woman, probably one of his elders.

Xie Yuran turned and looked toward the door, answering loudly, “I’ll be right there.”

He looked back at Xin Li. “Would you like to rest here for a while, or come out with me?”

    “I…”

Xin Li was about to say she would go out with him when she suddenly remembered her mom was still inside the venue. She immediately cooled her head, shaking her head, “You go first; I’ll go out in a bit.”

Xie Yuran’s smile faded, and his expression changed slightly. He didn’t say anything and didn’t grab his suit jacket, just adjusted the collar of his button-up before opening the door and walking out.

After he had left for a while, Xin Li cautiously opened the door, peeking outside to make sure no one was looking before exiting and returning to the soiree.

Mrs. Xu Wanqin just so happened to be looking for her, and upon seeing her, she started nagging again.

Xin Li absentmindedly listened to her while scanning the surroundings, but she didn’t spot Xie Yuran.

They didn’t cross paths again throughout the rest of the soiree.

    ……

The next day, Xin Li woke up vexed, remembering their conversation from last night.

    What did he even mean?

Did he think that her feelings were too shallow?

Although she was initially attracted to his looks, she had met Xie Shuo afterward and wasn’t swayed.

With their limited interaction and Xie Yuran’s consistently indifferent attitude, Xin Li gradually lost patience and stopped sending him messages.

To her delight, after hitting a few walls, Mrs. Xu Wanqin finally realized that Xie Shuo was not interested in her daughter, so she gave up on the idea of matchmaking.

Enjoying her newfound freedom, Xin Li refused to move back home, citing the need to manage her clothing brand. Xu Wanqin nagged, but there was nothing she could do, so she let her do as she pleased.

Shortly after, a girlfriend invited her to go vacay abroad. She just so happened to be bored to death, so she eagerly agreed and packed to go abroad for ten or so days.

Amid her trip, she couldn’t resist and sent Xie Yuran a few photos of her adventures abroad.

In the first couple of days, Xie Yuran courteously responded, but as time went on, it seemed like he grew annoyed, taking longer to respond perfunctorily.

Xin Li’s initial enthusiasm was extinguished to the point where there was almost nothing left, ending her trip with a sense of frustration.

Upon her return home, only then did she learn that something disastrous had happened in the Xie family—Xie Shuo had been in a car accident.

The news was tightly controlled by the Xie family, and the exact details were unknown. It was reported that he was seriously injured and remained unconscious.

Due to the accident, Xie Yuran, as his younger brother, must’ve been busy. No wonder why he had no time to respond to her messages.

The lump in Xin Li’s heart lightened a bit, realizing that he didn’t ignore her on purpose.

She picked up her phone, intending to inquire about Xie Shuo’s condition. However, after a moment of thought, she realized that the Xie family was preventing any leaks of information to the public. It might not be appropriate for her to inquire directly.

After hesitating for a while, she decided to put her phone down.

For the following few months, Xin Li refrained from contacting Xie Yuran.

Around two months later, there was some news from the Xie family. It was reported that Xie Shuo had regained consciousness, but unfortunately, he had lost his vision.

Although unrelated to her, Xin Li couldn’t help but feel a tinge of regret since Xie Shuo had it all since he was born. It was unfortunate that he had such an outcome.

The next day, Xin Li learned from Xin Yu that Xie Yuran had been assigned back to the Junming Group headquarters, temporarily taking over Xie Shuo’s position.

With the heir to the Xie family having an accident, there would undoubtedly be internal turmoil within the company. Having grown up in an affluent family, Xin Li was well aware of the dangers that came with such situations. Therefore, she refrained from bothering him too much, only occasionally sending a message to express her concern.

Xie Yuran’s response remained insipid. He wouldn’t ignore her, but he was also far from being proactive or warm.

His attitude left Xin Li feeling somewhat in despair, and on several occasions, she contemplated giving up.

    ……

In the blink of an eye, it was already October.

One day, Xin Li was dragged to the airport by her girlfriend to see her off.

“Why have you been so down lately, like you’ve just experienced a breakup?”

Her friend asked, noticing Xin Li’s lackluster mood.

Xin Li glanced at her and thought: Not a breakup, but it feels almost the same.

The person I’m interested in is out of reach—isn’t that akin to a breakup?

Her friend linked arms with her and said with a smile, “Come on, don’t be so gloomy. I’ll bring you a gift when I come back.”

Inside the airport, people were coming and going, with the sweet sounds of the announcer making announcements echoing continuously.

As they walked further into the terminal, her friend suddenly looked toward the right and exclaimed, “Hey, isn’t that Xie Yuran?”

Xin Li was momentarily surprised. Following her friend’s gaze, she indeed spotted a familiar figure…

It had been almost half a year since they last met.

He seemed to have lost some weight, and his shadow on the gleaming floor appeared particularly slender.

In front of him stood a young woman wearing a long dress. Her side profile was elegant as she smiled while chatting with him.

Xin Li inexplicably had an inkling that the relationship between him and the woman was not simple.

Her friend glanced at her and, noticing her expression, tentatively asked, “Xiao Li, I remember you used to have a bit of interest in Xie Yuran. Are you still pursuing him?”

Xin Li said nothing, but her facial expression had already provided an answer.

Her friend leaned in close and whispered to her, “If that’s the case, I advise you to cut your losses now. The woman in front of him is Zhang Muqing, the adopted daughter of the Zhang family. I recently heard that Xie Yuran likes her. However, the Zhang family favors Xie Shuo, so Zhang Muqing hadn’t agreed to his advances. Now that Xie Shuo has had an accident, Xie Yuran is likely to take over his brother’s position, and there’s a chance Zhang Muqing might change her target…”

As she said, her friend suddenly remembered the rumor going around and lowered her voice, “I also heard that Xie Shuo’s accident might be related to his younger brother. I don’t know if it’s true or not… but you should keep your eyes wide open. Don’t pick a scumbag and get yourself pulled in…”

Regarding the rumor about the car accident, Xin Li had also heard about it. But, she still believed in Xie Yuran.

Although they didn’t spend much time together, her intuition told her that he wasn’t that kind of person.

Seeing her silent, her friend didn’t dare to tease her anymore. She patted her shoulder and comforted her, “There are plenty of good men in the world. There’s no need to put all your eggs in one basket. I’ll introduce you to a few good-looking guys another day…”

Before she could finish her sentence, Xin Li interrupted her, “Okay, I got it.”

After seeing off her friend, Xin Li glanced once more at Xie Yuran, who was still talking to Zhang Muqing. Her heart felt void, and an indescribable pain overwhelmed her.

No wonder he rejected her. It wasn’t because their statuses were incompatible; it was because he already had someone he liked.

He had no girlfriend, but he had someone in his heart.

Amidst the hustle and bustle of the airport, she stood still for a moment. She didn’t go up to him, just turned around and left.

    ……

Since the day Xin Li saw Xie Yuran and Zhang Muqing at the airport, her feelings toward Xie Yuran have died down considerably. She rarely sent messages to him now.

She had her own pride. She didn’t know he had someone in his heart before, so she pursued him persistently. Now that she knew, it was time to cut her losses.

However, it didn’t stop the pain in her heart. Every time the thought crossed her mind, it felt like a cotton ball was lodged in her chest.

On Xie Yuran’s side, after not receiving messages from her for a long time, he just assumed that this heiress had finally grown tired of him. A strange and unexplainable feeling flickered in his heart.

After Xie Shuo’s accident, he took on more responsibilities, becoming extremely busy and occupied. He also had to deal with various suspicions, so he had little energy to think about other matters, quickly pushing this matter to the back of his mind.

    ……

They met again in the spring of the following year at a certain bar.

This bar was owned by Xin Yu’s friend. Feeling down, Xin Li went over to sit for a while.

The dazzling colored lights kept flashing. Leaning against the bar, she was chatting with a friend’s younger brother when she looked up and saw Xie Yuran entering through the door.

    Xin Li’s smile froze slightly.

Xie Yuran also noticed her amidst the chatting and laughter of the patrons in the bar.

After so long, her smile was still as brilliant. She was holding a glass of wine in her hand; the liquid in the glass rippled like the light in her eyes.

The young man by her side had attractive features—probably her new love interest.

As he expected, she was just momentarily attracted to him. The infatuation faded, and she withdrew quickly.

A strange feeling surfaced in his heart, slowly spreading.

Xie Yuran was in a daze for quite a bit, only retracting his gaze when someone beside him called him. He then sat down with his companion at a nearby booth.

Seeing him turn away so indifferently, the smile on Xin Li’s face completely faded.

After a while, she mustered to put on a smile and continued chatting with her friend’s younger brother.

The wine in her glass gradually diminished, and Xin Li’s head became a bit cloudy, with the light and shadows before her eyes blurring.

Leaning on the bar, she got up and smiled at her friend’s younger brother. “It’s getting late. I should head back. I’ll treat you to drinks next time.”

“I’ll send you…” The other party also got up.

“You’re also drunk; can you even send me back?

Xin Li laughed, evading his attempt to help her, and swayed as she walked out of the bar. However, just a short distance beyond the entrance, she almost bumped into someone.

Xie Yuran had also come out. He reached out to steady her as the light reflected off his watch flickered.

Xin Li managed to steady herself before looking up and meeting his gaze as he looked her way.

This situation somewhat resembled their first meeting.

Their eyes met, and neither of them spoke a word.

Her friend’s younger brother also came outside, and seeing this situation, asked puzzledly, “Xiao Li jie?”

Xin Li snapped out of her thoughts and looked at the person in front of her. That painful feeling resurfaced.

Forcing down the discomfort in her heart, she greeted with a smile, “Long time no see.”

Xie Yuran glanced at her and then at the young man behind her. His expression slightly changed as he replied, “Long time no see.”

His chauffeur just so happened to pull up the car, parking by the road.

Xin Li thought he would be like before, getting into the car and leaving without hesitation. However, he unexpectedly asked her, “Do you need a ride?”

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 75

Epilogue 5: Xin Li & Xie Yuran

The shadows of the trees cast upon them, and an ambiguous atmosphere quietly emerged in the night breeze.

Xie Yuran felt the softness of her waist in his palm, and the faint fragrance on the girl subtly stirred something.

Xin Li looked up and smiled at him. Before Xie Yuran could respond, a familiar voice suddenly sounded from behind…

    Xiao Li!”

Xin Li turned around at the sound of the voice. Her brother, who knew when, had also come out and was standing nearby, looking displeased with a slight frown.

Xin Li had no choice but to let go, freeing herself from Xie Yuran’s embrace. Before letting go, she winked at him and whispered, “Whether we’re suitable or not, you’ll only know after trying.”

After saying that, she quickly turned around and walked toward Xin Yu, leaving behind a slender figure.

    Ge.”

Approaching Xin Yu’s side, she smiled cajolingly.

Xin Yu glanced at Xie Yuran before shifting his gaze back to her. “Didn’t I tell you? Mom and Dad won’t approve.”

Xin Li raised her chin, looking nonchalant. “Won’t it be fine if you just don’t tell them?”

Xin Yu neither agreed nor disagreed.

Xin Li blinked her eyes. “Ge, you won’t sell me out, right?”

She clung to his arm and said, using a soft and sweet tone, “Ge… is the best brother in the world…”

Unable to resist her, Xin Yu sighed before saying, “Fine, fine. Just have a boundary.”

Xin Li immediately beamed, “Got it!”

Xin Yu ruffled her hair with a smile.

After watching the two of them walk away, Xie Yuran emerged from the shadows after a long while.

    ……

That night, when she returned to her place, Xin Li held her phone, contemplating whether to send a message to Xie Yuran.

After typing and deleting for a while, she decided not to be too enthusiastic at this stage to maintain the upper hand.

She closed her phone and lay back on her bed, smiling while clutching onto her blanket as she recalled Xie Yuran’s expression at the end.

It wasn’t until the next evening that Xin Li finally sent a message to Xie Yuran. The content was pretty casual, just a snapshot of the sunset outside her window.

    Xin Li: “……..”

Xin Li: “Did you have dinner yet?”

Xie Yuran didn’t ignore her, and after a moment, he replied succinctly, “Just ate.”

    Short and to the point.

Xin Li, originally intending to trick him into suggesting to have dinner together, felt a bit disappointed upon seeing his response, so she just asked, “Alone?”

    Xie Yuran: “No.”

Xin Li continued to ask, “With whom?”

    Xie Yuran: “My brother.”

    Xin Li: “…….”

Can’t he type a few more words?

Xin Li rolled her eyes and sent over a pitiful emoji.

Xin Li: “I still haven’t eaten.”

Xie Yuran: “Why haven’t you eaten?”

Xin Li: “My foot hurts, so I don’t have an appetite.”

Without waiting for his response, she quickly added another message.

Xin Li: “If you bring food over, maybe I’ll have an appetite then.”

Meanwhile, Xie Yuran was in the midst of discussing matters with Xie Baiyan and Xie Shuo. Xie Baiyan said something and noticed that Xie Yuran seemed absent-minded. He couldn’t help but ask, “Xiao Ran?”

Xie Yuran placed his phone aside and looked up.

Xie Baiyan said a few more things before ending the conversation. As he was about to leave, he thought of something and suddenly asked Xie Shuo, “A’Shuo, are you still in contact with the lady from the Xin family?”

    Xie Yuran’s expression froze slightly.

    Xie Shuo replied indifferently, “No.”

Seeing his expression, Xie Baiyan knew that he couldn’t say anything to him, so he just turned and walked away.

Xie Yuran glanced at Xie Shuo before picking up his phone again.

    ……

Lying on the sofa, Xin Li eagerly held her phone, waiting for a response. After waiting for a while without a reply from him, she felt a bit frustrated. What’s wrong with him?

He just vanished as we were chatting!

Even if he doesn’t wanna bring food over, did he have to ignore my message?

She sat up and tossed her phone aside, irked. Then, she got up and went to the fridge to grab a bowl of pre-cut fruit. She stuffed the fruit into her mouth unhappily as she played a drama.

Tonight, she indeed wasn’t hungry, and she had no intention of eating dinner.

As dusk descended and the light dimmed outside the window, the doorbell suddenly rang half an hour later.

Hearing the sound, Xin Li was puzzled before her heart skipped a beat. Could it be that he really came over?

She put down what she was holding and hurriedly put on her slippers.

As soon as she opened the door, her smile faded slightly—it wasn’t Xie Yuran, but a delivery person.

    “Hello, your dinner order.”

    “…….”

Alright, he didn’t come, but ordering dinner for her could still be considered passable.

Xin Li consoled herself silently before cheering up again. She took the takeout back inside.

Before picking up her chopsticks, she arranged the food on the table and took a picture to send to Xie Yuran, expressing her thanks.

After a long while, Xie Yuran replied with, “Enjoy your meal.”

Xin Li responded with a smiling emoji.

It seemed that he did have some feelings toward her.

In the following days, Xin Li occasionally sent messages to Xie Yuran, flirting with him. Her days passed by leisurely and carefree.

    ……

However, these leisurely days didn’t last long. A few days later, her brother visited again, conveying Mrs. Xu Wanqin’s order for her to return home and prepare for a soiree.

“Mom and Dad said if you don’t come back, they’ll freeze your card.”

Upon hearing this, Xin Li’s rebellious side emerged, and she retorted, “Let them freeze it! Even if I don’t have their money, I won’t starve to death!”

She had opened a clothing brand with a classmate at the end of last year. Though she didn’t pay much attention to it, she could still support herself.

Xin Yu glanced at her and said calmly, “The soiree is hosted by the Xie family. Are you sure you won’t go?”

    The Xie family?

Wouldn’t that mean Xie Yuran would also be there?

Xin Li immediately changed her mind and cleared her throat, saying, “Well, since you came all the way to invite me, I’ll give you face and reluctantly attend.”

    “……..”

Xin Yu naturally knew what she was thinking and reminded her, “Mom will be there too. Be careful.”

Xin Li winked at him and smiled mischievously. “Got it.”

Xin Li quickly packed her things to go home. Most of her clothes and purses were at home. If she didn’t go back, attending the soiree would only lead to embarrassment.

No matter what, the prestige of Miss Xin must not be compromised.

As soon as she arrived home, Xu Wanqin started lecturing her.

This time, Xin Li didn’t argue with her. She listened to the nagging as if it were a passing breeze, smiling throughout.

The reason Xu Wanqin was so anxious to force her to attend the Xie family’s soiree was undoubtedly because of Xie Shuo.

Unfortunately, on the night of the soiree, Xie Shuo didn’t even show up. No one knew where he went.

On the other hand, Xin Li was delighted. She comforted the disappointed Xu Wanqin with a few words and discreetly slipped away.

Inside the venue, amidst the myriad of perfumes and conversations, Xin Li searched for a while before finally spotting Xie Yuran in the crowd. He was beside Xie Baiyan, engaging in conversation with others.

Xin Li made her way through the crowd, slowly moving toward them. While walking, she glanced back at Xu Wanqin. Seeing that she hadn’t noticed her, she secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

Approaching Xie Baiyan, she politely greeted him before turning her gaze to Xie Yuran. She gave him a meaningful look while smiling.

Xie Yuran glanced at her but remained indifferent.

Xin Li didn’t linger. As she walked past him, she gently tugged at his sleeve.

Xie Yuran turned his head and caught a glimpse of her subtle eye smile, dazzling under the lights.

Xin Li walked away on her high heels and found a seat in the closest spot to him. She sat down, observing him through the crowd. Her foot injury had just healed, so it wasn’t good for her to walk too much.

While glancing at him occasionally, she listened to her girlfriends gossiping, occasionally adding a comment or two.

After some time passed, Xie Yuran suddenly turned around and walked toward the outside of the venue.

Seeing this, Xin Li hesitated for a moment before setting down the plate of fruit she was holding and quietly followed him.

    ……

The corridor outside the soiree was carpeted thickly, muffling the footsteps, and the lighting was dimmer than inside the venue.

On both sides of the corridor were lounges designated for rest. Xie Yuran opened the door to one of these lounges, entered, and turned on the lights.

As he was about to close the door behind him, Xin Li hurriedly approached and squeezed in.

Due to her hurry, she bumped into his back, and her foot twisted, almost causing another sprain.

Instinctively, she hugged onto his waist, her face pressed against his back through the fabric of his suit.

Xie Yuran paused before turning around and meeting a pretty face with a hint of drunken blush.

After steadying herself using him, Xin Li let go of his waist. She smiled brightly, her eyes glittering like stars.

Xie Yuran closed the door with his hand and asked, “Why did you follow me?”

Taking a few steps back, Xin Li leaned against a nearby cabinet. Lifting the foot she had injured before, she tilted her head to look at him. “I came to get your answer from last time.”

The light illuminated the girl’s beauty, making her bright eyes sparkle with a captivating charm.

Xie Yuran looked at her silently.

Perhaps only a pampered and loved heiress like her could have such an unrestrained and willful character.

He chuckled, turning around and loosening his tie.

Catching a glimpse of his enigmatic smile, Xin Li felt inexplicably annoyed. She raised her chin and asked, “What are you laughing about?”

Loosening his tie, Xie Yuran turned to her and counter-questioned, “What do you like about me?”

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 74

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 74

Epilogue 4: Xin Li & Xie Yuran

    “We’re not suitable.”

Upon hearing those words, Xin Li’s expression froze. She thought she had misheard.

    She was rejected?

    He actually rejected her?

Xin Li stared at the person in front of her, her face filled with disbelief.

After the shock, a wave of embarrassment and humiliation overwhelmed her. She had been pursued by many boys throughout her life and never had been rejected like this before.

“Take good care of your injury.”

After saying that, Xie Yuran stood there for a moment before turning around and leaving.

Watching his figure disappear behind the door, Xin Li felt a mix of embarrassment and anger. It was as if her chest had been blocked by a sponge soaked in water, making it difficult to breathe.

She grabbed the box of medicine from the coffee table and angrily threw it.

“Not suitable, then forget it! Who cares!”

Even after throwing the box, she was still angry. She bent down to pick up something else, but in her haste, her injured foot touched the floor, almost making things worse.

The pain made her frown deeply, and she collapsed onto the sofa, carefully lifting her foot.

The room quieted down, and after a while of sulking, she hobbled and went to take a shower.

That night, Xin Li tossed and turned for a long time; she couldn’t fall asleep. Later, she had even dreamt about Xie Yuran, leaving her in a foul mood throughout the following day.

With her foot injured, it was inconvenient for her to go out. She could only stay inside her condo, ordering food delivery when hungry.

In the afternoon, her girlfriend sent a message asking about the aftermath of last night, “How did it go? Did you succeed?”

Just mentioning it made Xin Li angry. She nearly smashed the screen with her fingers.

She had initially wanted to vent about last night’s events with her friend, but she felt it was too embarrassing. Afraid of being teased, she took a photo of her sprained ankle and sent it over.

    Xin Li: “Sprained my foot.”

    Friend: “Shook.”

    Friend: “Was it that intense?”

    Xin Li: “…….”

Her friend immediately unsent her previous message before sending, “My bad, my bad,” then asked with concern, “Did you go to the hospital yet? Is it serious?”

Xin Li: “I did, it’s not too serious. Just can’t go out for a while.”

Friend: “What about the guy from last night? Make him deliver heartwarming meals to you every day.”

    Friend: “Hehe.”

Remembering Xie Yuran’s words, “We’re not suitable,” Xin Li felt a lump in her chest. She didn’t want to continue this topic, and her expression turned cold.

Xin Li: “I suddenly lost interest in him.”

    Friend: “…….”

    Your interest disappeared so quickly.

    Friend: “Why?”

Xin Li: “No reason, I’m just not interested anymore.”

    Friend: “Okay.”

After chatting with her girlfriend for a while, Xin Li hugged a cushion and leaned back on the sofa, still feeling unhappy.

Suddenly, she remembered something and opened Xie Yuran’s WeChat that she had added last night. After editing her message several times, she finally sent him a message asking, “How much for the repair of the car?”

After a while, a reply popped up, “No need.”

    No need?

Did he think rejecting her could be compensated with money?

Who does he think he is?

Xin Li snorted coldly, fiercely tapping on the screen, and sent him a sum of money.

Xie Yuran neither accepted nor replied.

After a while, Xin Li sent an identical amount of money over again. If he didn’t accept, she would just keep sending it again and again until he accepted.

Perhaps sensing her anger, Xie Yuran finally replied, “The bill hasn’t been issued yet. I’ll let you know once it’s ready.”

His response was equally cold and formal.

Xin Li suddenly felt the urge to block him, her finger hovering over the “Block” button. After a pause, she ultimately gave up.

Forget it. There’s no need to stoop to his level. It would only make me look petty.

Due to her foot injury, Xin Li stayed inside her condo for over a week. During this time, her older brother, Xin Yu, came to see her once and urged her to go home, which she refused.

She even threatened Xin Yu, forbidding him from telling their parents about her sprained foot.

If their parents found out that she had wrecked herself as soon as she moved out, she could forget about having any freedom in the future.

After half a month, Xin Li’s foot somewhat improved, and she could finally walk again. She eagerly sent a message to Xin Yu to have him take her out for a big, nice meal.

After days of eating takeout, she was fed up with it.

Xin Yu’s friend had just opened a new restaurant, and they were having a celebratory feast. He couldn’t resist her persistence and reluctantly agreed to take her along.

Upon arriving, the private room was already filled with people, bustling and clamorous.

Many of Xin Yu’s friends knew about his precious younger sister, so when Xin Li entered the room, she was greeted with heaps of compliments.

“Wow, it hasn’t been long, and Xiao Li has gotten even more beautiful!”

    “Got a boyfriend yet?”

Xin Li greeted everyone with a smile, and as she walked further into the room, she spotted a familiar figure sitting in the corner.

    Xin Li: “…….”

To even meet him here, she couldn’t help but wonder if it was a twist of fate.

She subconsciously paused, feeling a twinge in her ankle.

Xie Yuran looked up at her, and with the dim lighting in the room, his expression was indistinct as if shrouded in a mist.

After locking eyes for a couple of seconds, Xin Li nonchalantly shifted her gaze away and sat down next to Xin Yu.

Despite the liveliness in the room, with people drinking and chatting, Xin Li felt somewhat absent-minded, occasionally glancing toward the corner of the room.

Separated by several people, Xin Li could only catch a glimpse of a blurry profile of Xie Yuran.

He was engaged in conversation with someone next to him, and snippets of their dialogue reached her ears.

Hearing his voice, Xin Li inexplicably recalled his words, “We’re not suitable,” as if it were a curse.

She poured herself a glass of wine, intending to alleviate the lump in her chest. However, after just a couple of sips, Xin Yu took it away, saying, “Don’t drink so much.”

With her brother around, she shouldn’t even think about touching alcohol tonight. Xin Li pouted and glared at him unhappily before standing up to sit on the sofa against the wall.

Here, she was even further away from Xie Yuran, allowing her to openly look at him without fear of being caught.

He had stopped chatting to the others and was just holding his wine glass. His sleeves were rolled up a bit, and his expression seemed somewhat lonely.

Just as Xin Li was lost in thought, Xin Yu suddenly approached, handing her a glass of juice and sitting down beside her.

“Xie Yuran? When did you start liking him?” Xin Yu suddenly said.

Startled, Xin Li quickly averted her gaze, her eyes flickering. “Ge, what are you talking about?”

Xin Yu looked at her with an expression as if he saw through everything.

Before she could explain, he added, “Mom and Dad won’t approve.”

Xin Li was going to find a way to explain herself but was taken aback upon hearing his words. “Why?”

Following her gaze toward Xie Yuran, Xin Yu calmly stated, “The heir to the Xie family is his brother, not him.”

In a simple sentence, he explained everything.

Although Xin Li understood that what he said was true, she couldn’t help but quietly retort, “So what?”

She liked whoever she liked, regardless of their status or background.

Her words sounded a bit childish, and Xin Yu just smiled, choosing not to further dampen her spirits.

Just as the two of them were chatting, Xie Yuran suddenly placed his wine glass down and walked out of the private room.

As he passed by their area, he glanced at Xin Li for a brief moment—a moment that Xin Li happened to catch.

For some reason, a thought flashed through Xin Li’s mind…

Could it be that when he said, “We’re not suitable,” it was because of the reason her brother mentioned?

Otherwise, why didn’t he just reject her outright? Why did he say not suitable?

After several interactions, he showed no signs of aversion toward her. He even escorted her home, and upon seeing her twist her ankle, carried her to the hospital.

She was this charming and likable; there’s no reason her charm didn’t work on him!

With these thoughts, a flicker of hope reignited in Xin Li’s heart. She turned to Xin Yu and said, “Ge, I’m gonna go to the restroom.”

Pretending to be composed, she got up and opened the door before leaving the private room.

The corridor was carpeted, extending all the way to the end.

After searching for a while, Xin Li finally found Xie Yuran near the outdoor lounge area.

He stood there with one hand in his pocket, the upper part of his body immersed in shadows, and his long legs accentuated by the light.

He seemed to have drunk quite a lot, and as Xin Li neared, she could smell the clear scent of alcohol.

    “Is your car fixed?”

Hearing her words, Xie Yuran turned around, his gaze slightly halting.

Unlike the previous encounters, Xin Li wore flats today and tied her hair into a bun. Her makeup was light, making her look like an undergrad student. There was a sparkle in her eyes.

Xie Yuran’s gaze lingered on her for a moment before replying, “It’s fixed.”

Xin Li tilted her head slightly. “Why haven’t you asked me for the compensation then?”

Xie Yuran smiled slightly. “I forgot.”

    He must’ve intentionally forgotten, no?

Xin Li muttered to herself before raising her chin and eyebrow, “So I guess I don’t need to pay then?”

She knew she shouldn’t bother with him after what happened last time, but she just couldn’t accept it.

Seeing the lively look on her face, Xie Yuran’s expression faltered.

Seeing him silent, Xin Li took half a step forward, but she suddenly stumbled and fell forward.

Xin Li accurately fell into his arms. Leaning against his shoulder, she smiled cunningly.

She neared his ear, her breath gently brushing against him. “You really think that we’re not suitable?”

Xie Yuran looked down and happened to see the playful smile in her eyes akin to a cunning fox.

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 73

Epilogue 3: Xin Li & Xie Yuran

    “Do you have a girlfriend?”

At that, Xie Yuran’s gaze faltered before looking up at her.

Unfazed, Xin Li met his gaze with confidence as her long, curly lashes blinked.

Xie Yuran stared at her for a moment as his index finger tapped against the steering wheel before smiling. “No.”

It seemed like he was waiting for her reply, but Xin Li simply uttered an “Oh,” before saying with a smile, “Thanks for sending me back.”

Then, she opened the door and got out of the car.

Before entering the mansion, she turned back and looked through the car window at him before smiling again—lively and charming like a sunlit flower.

Resting his hands on the steering wheel and watching her walk away, he smiled as he thought of something.

After a long while, he finally started the car and drove away.

After entering the house, Xu Wanqin saw her return so early and eagerly asked about her conversation with Grandfather Xie and whether she met Xie Shuo.

Xin Li’s cheerful mood instantly dampened. Irked, she said, “Didn’t see him.”

Covered in a shawl, Xu Wanqin frowned and was about to ask more questions, but Xin Li had already briskly walked upstairs and locked her room, shutting her out completely.

“This kid…”  Xu Wanqin sighed with helplessness.

Xin Li enjoyed a brief moment of peace before Xin Yuanhong and Mrs. Xu took turns urging her again at dinner to visit the Xie family more and maintain contact with Xie Shuo.

Frustrated, Xin Li couldn’t endure it any longer and argued with them. The next day, she moved out.

She had a condo outside; she just rarely stayed there.

On the night she regained her freedom, Xin Li invited her girlfriends to celebrate at a bar.

Inside the bar, the lights were colorful, bustling with noise, and hot. Xin Li was in the midst of chatting and joking with her girlfriends when a young man with a drink in hand approached them to strike up a conversation.

Perhaps due to the tipsiness from drinking, Xin Li glanced at him and thought of Xie Yuran despite the lack of resemblance between the two and a significant difference in their attractiveness.

She declined the man’s invitation, holding her wine glass in her hand and gently swirling it. Her gaze swept over her phone, and she realized she didn’t even have Xie Yuran’s contact information.

As she was contemplating, one of her girlfriends beside her said, “Darling, why do you look upset again?”

Xin Li didn’t respond. She took a sip of her drink and suddenly felt a bit disinterested. Putting down her glass, she stood up and said, “I’m leaving. Are y’all still gonna have fun?

A girlfriend checked the time and waved her hand before standing up, too. “Nah, the one at home has been strict lately.”

The two of them left the bar. Her friend had a chauffeur waiting, while Xin Li, in a fit of anger, left home alone. With no one micromanaging her, she could only tag along her friend’s ride home.

The nightscape was bustling with vibrant city lights, their reflections dancing across the car roof. Leaning against her seat, Xin Li was sleepy.

Suddenly, the chauffeur slammed on the brakes, causing her to lurch forward, narrowly avoiding a bump to her head. Her stomach also churned.

    “What’s going on?”

Her friend grabbed onto the armrest and looked up.

The chauffeur explained, “Looks like we rear-ended.”

Xin Li and her friend could only help each other out of the car. Fortunately, the situation wasn’t too serious—just a couple of scratches on the other party’s car.

Xin Li didn’t care much initially but suddenly realized that the car in front looked familiar. Soon, the driver’s door opened, and a familiar figure stepped out…

    It was Xie Yuran.

Xin Li’s heart fluttered. It seemed they were running into each other quite often lately.

The chauffeur approached and spoke with him. Xie Yuran looked up, glanced past him, and saw Xin Li.

Their eyes met in midair. Xin Li smiled and said, “What a coincidence.”

Xie Yuran returned a smile, “Truly.”

Xin Li’s irritation from before immediately went away. She turned to the chauffeur and her friend, saying, “You both go ahead. I’ll handle things here.”

After saying that, she subtly winked at her friend. Her friend glanced at her, then at Xie Yuran, quickly understanding the situation before casting a meaningful glance at Xin Li. She then left with her chauffeur.

Once her friend left, Xin Li pretended to examine the scratches on the rear of the car earnestly. Taking out her phone, she said, “Let’s exchange contact information. Let me know the cost of repairs, and I’ll send you the money.”

Xie Yuran looked at her meaningfully. Being so close, he could smell the distinct scent of alcohol on her, and her usually fair cheeks had a rosy tint.

It seemed that every time he saw her, she was in this tipsy state.

After a moment’s pause, Xie Yuran shared his phone number with her.

After saving his number, Xin Li glanced around and smiled with a blink. “Sorry, it seems I’ll have to trouble you to take me home again.”

Xie Yuran looked at her, half-smiling, “Your brother isn’t picking you up?”

Xin Li frowned, displeased. “My brother has been busy lately, no time to take care of me.”

Traffic was congested, and vehicles couldn’t linger for long. Xie Yuran said nothing further and just opened the car door.

Xin Li smiled again, swaying a bit as she approached and climbed into the car.

Xie Yuran settled back into the driver’s seat, started the car, and set the GPS for the Xin family estate.

Xin Li corrected him promptly, “I’ve moved out, not going back to my parents’.”

As she said that, she provided her current condo address. Holding the steering wheel, Xie Yuran glanced at her and smoothly updated the GPS.

When they reached the condominium where Xin Li lived, it was already late at night. The stars scattered across the inky sky, overshadowed by the bright moon.

Xin Li unfastened her seatbelt and thanked him before asking casually, “Wanna come up and sit for a bit?”

The interior of the car was dimly lit. She had drank, and a rosy flush was still on her cheeks. Her eyes sparkled with an enchanting glimmer, oblivious to her own allure.

Xie Yuran’s gaze lingered on her face for a moment before saying insipidly, “It’s too late; I won’t disturb you.”

Xin Li had anticipated this outcome and didn’t insist. She bid him “bye” and happily pushed open the car door before getting out.

Too casual a man, not worth the effort to seduce.

As she got out of the car, the night breeze hit her face. Still under the influence of alcohol, the breeze made her feel dizzy. After taking only a couple of steps, her high heel caught on something. She stumbled to the side, and a sharp pain shot up from her ankle.

She shouldn’t have celebrated so fast…

She swayed for a moment, barely managing to stand firm. She held onto her sprained left leg, avoiding putting too much weight on it.

Xie Yuran had initially intended to drive away, but as he glanced and saw her condition, he couldn’t help but get out of the car.

He strode over with long steps and asked, “What happened?”

Xin Li looked up, feeling wronged. “I think I’ve twisted my ankle.”

Xie Yuran looked down; his gaze followed her fair, slender legs to her ankle. He frowned and reached out to support her, “Get in the car.”

Confused, Xin Li asked, “Where are we going?”

Xie Yuran glanced at her and said, “Didn’t you twist your ankle? I’ll take you to the hospital.”

Xin Li originally wanted to decline, but after a moment of thought, she changed her mind and allowed him to help her into the car.

Xie Yuran drove her to the nearest hospital from her condo. At this hour, the hospital was quiet, with the sound of leaves rustling outside.

Sitting in the passenger seat, Xin Li glanced out of the window.

Xie Yuran parked the car and came over to open her door to help her get out, asking, “Can you walk?”

Standing on one foot and tiptoes on the other, Xin Li shook her head. “No.”

Xie Yuran draped her arm over his shoulder, his hand around her lower back, guiding her slowly into the hospital.

The moonlight hung like mist, enveloping them.

Xin Li leaned on him, limping with each step. With every step, she would grimace, and she would glance up at him each time as if intentionally.

They moved like a snail for a few steps. Perhaps finding the pace too slow, Xie Yuran suddenly stopped. He reached across her knee, bent down, and lifted her up into his arms.

Xin Li held onto his neck and smiled mischievously, hidden from his view.

It wasn’t until they were inside the examination room that Xie Yuran finally set her down. The attending doctor examined her ankle before taking an X-ray.

“There’s no fracture. Go home and rest for a while. Remember to avoid strenuous activities…”

The attending doctor prescribed medication while giving instructions. After finishing the prescription, the doctor handed it directly to Xie Yuran, treating them as if they were a couple.

Sitting on the side, Xin Li watched with a smile, waiting for him to come and carry her.

After getting the medication, Xie Yuran drove her back to her condo again.

After all the commotion and back and forth, it was already almost dawn, and the night was dark. Almost no figure could be seen in the gated community area.

Inside the elevator, Xie Yuran set Xin Li down, helping her stand steady.

Looking at his handsome side profile, Xin Li thought of something and said, “Last time, you said you don’t have a girlfriend. How about I introduce one to you?”

Xie Yuran turned around, meeting her gaze.

Blinking, Xin Li smiled. “Consider it as thanks for taking me to the hospital and bringing me back.”

Xie Yuran smiled slightly, following her lead, “Who are you planning to introduce to me?”

“Well, you’ll have to tell me first what kind of girl you like…”

As they spoke, the elevator doors opened, reaching the floor where Xin Li lived. She fished out her key from her purse and handed it to Xie Yuran.

Taking the key, Xie Yuran supported her with one hand and unlocked the door with the other.

The condo was a bit deserted since Xin Li had only recently moved in, and many things were not settled yet.

After entering, she sat back on the sofa and stretched her injured leg before finding a comfortable position and saying while looking up, “My leg’s injured. If you want tea, you’ll have to pour it yourself.”

Xie Yuran didn’t go pour tea; instead, he placed the prescribed medication on the coffee table. Checking his watch, he said, “If there’s nothing else, I’ll take my leave. Take care and rest well.”

Xin Li hadn’t expected him to leave so quickly. She hurriedly stopped him, “Hey, you still haven’t told me what kind of girl you like!”

Xie Yuran’s steps paused, and he looked down at her from a higher vantage point. His jet-black eyes seemed to have seen through her scheme.

Leaning against the sofa, Xin Li unabashedly met his gaze. Her gaze was bold and open, her fox-like eyes transparent and revealing.

As a pampered and wanton heiress since childhood, she had never been afraid of anything.

Meeting her gaze, Xie Yuran’s expression slightly changed. He looked at her silently.

Xin Li grew somewhat impatient. Suddenly, she didn’t want to continue with this ambiguous probing.

She raised an eyebrow and said half-jokingly, “What do you think of me?”

Under the white light, her eyes sparkled mischievously. Xie Yuran’s gaze gradually deepened. Just as Xin Li was about to confront him directly, he finally spoke…

    “We’re not suitable.”

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 72

Epilogue 2: Xin Li & Xie Yuran

The corridor was dimly lit, adding a touch of ambiguity to the atmosphere. Xie Yuran looked at her, neither agreeing nor refusing, his gaze somewhat peculiar.

The smile on Xin Li’s face slightly froze.

Could it be that he wasn’t interested in me?

How will the blind date tomorrow continue then?

Just as they fell into silence, her girlfriend’s voice suddenly sounded, “Xin Li, your brother is here to pick you up!”

    Xin Li: “…….”

Why wasn’t she this vigorous usually?

Why come at a time like this!

Muttering a complaint under her breath, Xin Li turned around. As she left, she glanced at Xie Yuran again, who was still looking at her. Due to the lighting, his exact expression was indiscernible.

Outside the well-lit mansion, luxury cars were parked in twos and threes. Xin Yu stood there with one hand in his pocket, leaning against the car door in a relaxed stance.

“Why, do I have the honor of you personally picking me up today?”

Xin Li approached unsteadily, almost stumbling.

Smelling a strong scent of alcohol from her, Xin Yu reached out and helped her steady herself. “Afraid that the jewel of our family will be kidnapped.”

Xin Li gripped his arm and raised her exquisite face before scoffing, “Are Mom and Dad worried that I’ll run away from tomorrow’s blind date, so they sent you to drag me back?”

Xin Yu couldn’t help but chuckle, “It’s just a meeting. If you really don’t like him, you can refuse.”

Xin Li glared at him, saying resentfully, “Do you think if I refuse, it really would be a refusal? Do you think Mom and Dad will listen to me? They probably want to pack me up and send me to the Xie family right now.”

Xin Yu chuckled, “Don’t worry so much. What if Xie Shuo isn’t interested in you?”

Hearing this, Xin Li immediately exploded and said, “What do you mean he might not be interested in me? Are you really my own brother?”

Xin Yu didn’t respond. Instead, he smiled lovingly and ruffled her hair before opening the passenger door and helping her into the car.

After getting in the car, Xin Li was dazed for a moment before managing to grab her seatbelt and fasten it.

The car started and turned onto the wide street before passing streetlights one after another.

Upon arriving home, a barrage of scolding was inevitable. Her father, Xin Yuanhong, was on the verge of exploding with anger upon seeing her drunken state, but fortunately, her mother intervened.

    “Okay, okay, I got it.”

Xin Li waved her hand dismissively, floating up the stairs and returning to her room.

Whether it was due to the scolding or not, she unexpectedly dreamt of “Xie Shuo” that night. However, it was nothing in particular, just a blurry silhouette.

The next day, after sobering up, Xin Li didn’t throw a fit and dolled up extra nicely, preparing to go on the blind date.

If Xie Shuo was as she saw him last night, it wouldn’t be bad to progress further.

However, to her utter surprise, just when she was all prepared, Xie Shuo dipped on her, claiming that an urgent matter had popped up and rescheduled it for next Saturday.

Hearing this, Xin Li felt a lump in her throat, almost choking her.

He had time to attend a party but no time to meet me?

Thinking about last night’s encounter with “Xie Shuo,” Xin Li couldn’t help but wonder if he really wasn’t interested in her, so he deliberately found an excuse to delay the meeting.

Recalling his strange expression last night, Xin Li became more and more upset: What lousy taste! If he isn’t attracted to someone as beautiful as me, I wish him a lifetime of being a bachelor!

Due to this incident, Xin Li was so angry that she stayed home for two days.

On the third night, she was invited to a girlfriend’s birthday party at a private club in a private room.

The celebration went on late into the night.

Feeling a headache from the noise, Xin Li checked the time and said goodbye to her friend before leaving the party.

As she exited the club and walked toward the parking area, she unexpectedly ran into “Xie Shuo” again.

He seemed to be discussing a deal with a middle-aged man as the two were walking forward while engaged in conversation.

After sending off the other party, Xie Yuran turned around and noticed Xin Li not far away.

The surroundings were filled with colorful lights and a festive atmosphere, making it a dazzling sight. Xin Li stood still, not making a move.

Xie Yuran spotted her, and his gaze paused briefly before he looked away.

Like the night before, he didn’t linger and continued walking.

Xin Li felt a surge of anger rushing to her head. She could tolerate him postponing the blind date, but not even greeting her when they met was like rubbing her face in the dirt!

If he wasn’t interested in her, why agree to the blind date and keep her hanging?

Why not just reject her directly?

The more Xin Li thought about it, the angrier she became. Fueled by alcohol, she walked over in her high heels, blocking his path with an accusatory stance.

In her haste, she wasn’t steady on her feet. This time, however, Xie Yuran took the initiative to reach out and steady her.

It was, however, only a brief touch, and he quickly withdrew his hand as if avoiding something.

Xin Li, now standing somewhat stable, looked up, unsure of what to say.

    Should I confront him directly?

    That seems improper.

Xie Yuran, with one hand in his pocket, calmly looked at her, and a knowing smile appeared on his face. “Did Miss Xin forget to bring a chauffeur again?”

    “…….”

“On Saturday, you said you had something to attend to and couldn’t make it. Was that just an excuse?” Xin Li straightforwardly asked, not bothering to pretend.

Xie Yuran was momentarily puzzled. “What Saturday?”

He looked puzzled, and Xin Li became even more confused. Was he refusing to acknowledge her?

After a moment, Xie Yuran vaguely guessed what might be happening and asked, “Miss Xin, did you mistake me for someone else?”

    Xin Li: “?”

A sudden pang hit Xin Li’s chest. She stared at him with widened eyes, her beautiful eyes filled with a shimmering light. “Aren’t you Xie Shuo?”

Xie Yuran once again showed that peculiar expression. After a few seconds, he said, “Miss Xin, you’ve mistaken the person. Xie Shuo is my brother.”

    “……”

The night breeze blew by, and Xin Li stood there stiffly, experiencing an unprecedented awkwardness.

No wonder he looked at me weirdly last time.

So, I flirted for half a day but with the wrong person?

Moreover, he’s the person’s younger brother?

She was wearing a short skirt, with her arms and legs exposed, goosebumps breaking out by the chill.

Xie Yuran saw her standing still for a while and raised an eyebrow, asking, “Miss Xin, do you still want me to send you back?”

His tone carried a hint of teasing.

    “…….”

In this awkward situation, Xin Li naturally declined, leaving a simple “no need” before hurriedly walking away.

Until she got back home, Xin Li remained in a state of bewilderment, unable to accept the fact that she had mistaken someone.

While going upstairs, she ran into Xin Yu and grabbed him, asking, “Ge*, do you know if Xie Shuo has a younger brother?”

Xin Yu looked at her puzzledly, “Yea, not biological. He’s called Xie Yuran. Why do you ask?”

So, I indeed mistook the wrong person…

“It’s nothing,” Xin Li replied with a sense of helplessness. She went upstairs and closed her bedroom door.

Leaning against the door, she covered her face with her hands.

Why wasn’t it the younger brother I went on the blind date with?

After spending two to three days recovering from the embarrassment of mistaking her blind date, Xin Li finally got over it and prepared herself for her first meeting with Xie Shuo on Saturday.

This time, Xie Shuo didn’t stand her up.

The two agreed to meet at a cafe, and Xie Shuo arrived on time, neither early nor late.

In terms of appearance and temperament, Xie Shuo indeed lived up to his reputation and the praises of the elders in the Xin family. However… This man was just too boring!

After about half an hour of chatting, Xin Li couldn’t stand it anymore. She completely lost the desire to talk to him and just decided to enjoy her coffee in silence.

Xie Shuo also seemed uninterested in her. After finishing the coffee, Xie Shuo escorted her home out of courtesy, and there were no further indications of interest from him.

This outcome was what Xin Li wanted, but her parents were not pleased. They believed that her deliberate lack of enthusiasm led to the failure of the blind date.

Mrs. Xu Wanqin, her mom, even took her aside and lectured her for a long time, urging her to visit the Xie family more often, leaving a good impression on the elders to facilitate further development.

Soon, an opportunity for such a visit arose…

Upon learning that Grandfather Xie was unwell, Xu Wanqin immediately prepared gifts and dragged Xin Li to the Xie family estate to pay a visit.

With no other choice, Xin Li had to follow along.

She didn’t get to see Xie Shuo but instead bumped into Xie Yuran again.

Seeing her, Xie Yuran smiled, seemingly at her mistaking him for Xie Shuo.

Xin Li stole several glances at him behind Xu Wanqin’s back.

Xu Wanqin left in less than half an hour due to a matter to attend to. She didn’t take Xin Li, hoping that she might catch Xie Shuo.

This time, Xin Li didn’t refuse and obediently stayed behind.

Not long after Xu Wanqin left, Xie Yuran greeted Grandfather Xie and prepared to return to the city.

Seeing this, Xin Li immediately used not wanting to disturb Grandfather Xie’s rest as an excuse to take her leave. At that, Grandfather Xie asked Xie Yuran to escort her back on his way.

Outside, with a gentle breeze and warm sunlight, this was the first time the two met during the daytime. Xie Yuran was dressed casually in a beige sweater, appearing even more youthful.

“My brother will be coming over later,” he suddenly mentioned as they walked into the courtyard.

Xin Li, originally observing him, was taken aback for a moment at his words. Soon after, she realized he was hinting that if she stayed a bit longer, she might bump into his brother, Xie Shuo.

Looking up, she met his eyes and smiled slightly. “I’m here to visit Grandfather Xie.”

As she said that, she walked forward nonchalantly.

Xie Yuran was surprised by her response.

Walking to the parking area, he took a few steps forward and opened the passenger door.

Xin Li glanced at him and got in, thinking that after all the turns and twists, he couldn’t escape the fate of taking her home.

Soon, she heard the sound of the door closing on the other side. Absent-mindedly lost in her thoughts, she suddenly heard him remind her, “Seatbelt.”

Xin Li reached for the seatbelt and fastened it before turning to him, saying, “You don’t resemble your brother much.”

Resting his hand on the steering wheel, he glanced at her. “And Miss Xin still mistook me?”

Calling her “Miss Xin” with every sentence was annoying, and Xin Li couldn’t help but say, “Have you never mistaken someone in your life?”

Xie Yuran didn’t answer and just smiled, looking out at the road again.

Meanwhile, Xin Li leaned back in her seat, appreciating his side profile and occasionally making small talk.

Xie Yuran dropped her off at the entrance of the Xin family estate. Xin Li unfastened her seatbelt, intending to thank him, but the words stuck in her throat.

Looking at him, a foxy smile appeared on her face, and she asked lightly…

    “Do you have a girlfriend?”

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 71

Epilogue: Xin Li & Xie Yuran

Xin Li first met Xie Yuran at a private party.

As the young lady of the Xin family, she grew up pampered and spoiled since childhood, with an older brother doting on her, too. It could be said that she had experienced little hardship.

Yet, she could not escape the fate of being pushed into a political marriage for the benefit of the Xin family when she came of age.

Her father meticulously selected and ultimately chose the eldest son of the Xie family, Xie Shuo.

Given the Xie family’s status, many sought a connection through marriage. Initially, Xin Li had no particular advantage, but her grandfather happened to know the Xie family patriarch. Leveraging this connection, she successfully secured a blind date with Xie Shuo.

Xin Li deeply resented these transactional marriages, and who knew whether this Xie Shuo had any bad habits or tendencies.

She knew many young masters from prestigious families, and few entered her eyes. They changed girlfriends as quickly as they changed clothes, showing little inclination for marital fidelity even after marriage.

So, despite her father’s hype and praise of how amazing Xie Shuo was, she remained indifferent.

Naturally, indifference aside, the blind date, set for Saturday, was inevitable.

The night before the blind date, her parents took turns advising her, urging her to set aside any airs of arrogance and behave properly.

Unable to endure the pressure from both sides, Xin Li decided to accept a girlfriend’s invitation to attend a private party, hoping to improve her mood and vent her frustration.

    ……

The party was super boisterous, with familiar faces and complete strangers.

Feeling irritated, Xin Li had a few more drinks than she should have. She walked through the venue with a glass in hand unsteadily, narrowingly colliding with someone.

It was a slender young man dressed in a white shirt with good-looking features. Compared to the others, he appeared clean and refreshing, resembling a somewhat inexperienced youth.

Just as she was about to collide with him, he steadied her with a touch before quickly withdrawing his hand.

Their eyes met briefly. The man paused for a moment before turning away, leaving before she could apologize.

Xin Li watched his retreating figure for a moment before returning to her girlfriend, pouring another half glass of wine.

Afterward, her gaze remained fixed on the young man as he moved through the party, chatting with others at the party.

Seeing how focused she was, her friend curiously leaned in and asked, “Who are you looking at so seriously?”

Xin Li gestured with her eyes in the direction of the man. “Who is that? Do you know him?”

    “Who?”

“The one in the white shirt that’s decent looking.”

Following her gaze, her friend scanned the crowd and finally found the target after a long while. After a glance, she said, “Oh, him. Seems to be the young master of the Xie family, but I don’t know him.”

    Xie Shuo?

So he looked like this… Didn’t they say he was steady in conduct and successful in his career? Why did he look like a recent graduate who just entered the workforce?

Xin Li held her crystal glass by the stem and felt a slight flutter in her heart. Suddenly, she thought that tomorrow’s blind date might not be as unbearable as she had imagined.

Her friend nudged her with her shoulder and teased, “What, you’re interested in him? He is pretty good-looking. Go up and flirt a little?”

Xin Li hadn’t shared that she was going on a blind date tomorrow, so her friend thought she had developed an interest in him and kept urging her.

Xin Li remained silent, taking a sip of her red wine.

    He did match her taste…

The party was bustling with people, and the man’s figure quickly disappeared into the crowd. Xin Li didn’t bother to search for him deliberately; after all, she would see him tomorrow, wouldn’t she?

Before long, her friend went elsewhere to seek fun, leaving Xin Li alone in a corner, pouring herself another drink.

However, she couldn’t stay seated for long as a pest appeared by her side—the second son of the Chen family, a renowned playboy in their social circle.

He had always been interested in her. Seeing that she seemed to have had a bit too much to drink, he quickly approached with a glass of wine, uttering some cringey words while encouraging her to keep drinking. It was clear that he intended to make her drunk.

Her friend still hadn’t come back. Unable to endure his pestering anymore, Xin Li placed down her glass and walked away on her high heels.

The knee-length skirt accentuated her slender legs, catching his sight as he followed her.

Xin Li passed through the crowd and exited the party as her heels tapped on the floor, her footsteps slightly unsteady.

Reaching the corner, she stumbled and nearly fell.

Xiao Li, you’ve had too much to drink. Let me take you back.”

Coming over, he tried to pull her arm into his embrace.

Although Xin Li had too many drinks and her mind was hazy, she still had some basic sense of defense. She pushed his hand away and leaned to the side.

When she looked up, she suddenly caught sight of a slender figure dressed in a white shirt; he appeared pure as snow in the night.

A bright idea struck her; she walked over unsteadily and reached out to grab his arm, almost stumbling into him.

“Why are you here? I’ve been waiting for you for so long,” she said, her tone playful, as if a lover was coquettishly complaining.

The girl, with a flush, caught Xie Yuran off guard. He was momentarily taken aback.

Glancing at Xin Li, then at the man not far away, still uncertain about what was happening, he found himself being pulled to the side.

The second son of the Chen family originally intended to take advantage of her inebriation but abandoned his plan when he saw someone picking her up. After all, the Xin family wasn’t one to mess with.

Xin Li, pulling Xie Yuran along, was unsteady.

After walking a distance away, Xie Yuran glanced back and told her, “He’s gone.”

Xin Li stopped in her tracks, looked in the direction he pointed, released her grip, and turned her gaze back to him. She smiled drunkenly, “Thanks.”

Xie Yuran also smiled and said nothing before turning around to leave.

Xin Li, spoiled since childhood, had an impulsive nature, doing whatever she wanted. Now, having had alcohol, she acted even more unrestrained.

Stumbling forward, she took another step and once again grabbed his arm. “Wait a moment!”

Xie Yuran stopped in his tracks and turned to look at her.

Xin Li held onto his arm and struggled to steady himself before looking up at him with a glimmer in her eyes.

Xie Yuran sensed something in her gaze had subtly changed compared to before. He didn’t rush to pull away and asked with a slight smile. “What?”

He had just come down from the party and had also drunk quite a bit. His eyes looked quite intoxicated, and the youthful aura from earlier had diminished somewhat.

This attitude… Isn’t it a bit too indifferent?

Could it be that she’s not pretty enough?

This dealt a severe blow to Xin Li’s self-esteem. Just as she was about to say something, she suddenly realized he didn’t even know her name. He probably thought she was just a girl trying to hit on him and had a bad first impression, so he was indifferent.

So, she adjusted her smile and introduced herself, “I’m Xin Li.”

    Xin Li…

Hearing that name, Xie Yuran’s expression slightly changed, and he looked at her with a renewed impression.

Thinking that he had remembered who she was, Xin Li let go of his arm and stood up straight with some effort, looking at him.

The night breeze brushed her skirt, and she placed her hands behind her back. Her slender legs stood straight, and the corner of her rosy lips slightly curved, resembling a cunning fox.

“I forgot to bring my chauffeur tonight. Can you take me home?”

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 70

The day after the proposal, it was Saturday, so Ye An accompanied Xie Shuo to visit Grandfather Xie.

During dinner, Grandfather Xie seemed to have noticed that the two of them had reconciled and once again brought up the topic of great-grandchildren again.

In the past, it was Ye An who took charge of dealing with such situations. However, things were different now. She no longer needed to pretend, so she discreetly kicked Xie Shuo’s leg under the table.

Xie Shuo glanced at her and finally spoke up, “Yeye, there’s no rush for kids yet. I want to make up for a wedding first.”

    “?”

Ye An was taken aback and looked up at him.

Xie Shuo didn’t avoid her gaze, instead meeting it calmly.

They had only thrown a family banquet when they got married due to Xie Shuo’s blindness. Now, making up for a wedding seemed fitting.

Grandfather Xie paused for a moment before nodding and saying, “Indeed, we should have a proper celebration, make it lively…”

Xie Baiyan, on the side, did not express any objections.

The topic of having children was temporarily pushed aside, and everyone shifted their focus to planning the wedding.

After dinner, Ye An and Xie Shuo returned to the Xie family manor.

Outside the car window, the dim, yellow lights cast a warm glow. Ye An was still immersed in the surprise from earlier, her eyes sparkling. She turned to Xie Shuo and asked, “When did you decide about the wedding? Why haven’t I heard you mention it before?”

Xie Shuo, holding her hand, smiled. He had been preparing for it even before the proposal but hadn’t told her until now.

Suddenly realizing something crucial, Ye An tightened her grip on his fingers and asked anxiously, “What about the wedding gown? Have you found someone to make it?”

Not many girls could resist the allure of a wedding gown, and Ye An was no exception.

Xie Shuo replied with a smile, “The design is already done; they’re working on it right now. It should be ready by early next month.”

Xie Shuo expected Ye An to be excited, but her expression changed. “It’s already been decided? How could you make such a big decision without discussing it with me? What if I don’t like your choice?”

Pulling her into an embrace, he looked down and said, “I’ll show you the design when we get back. If you truly don’t like it, we can change it and have it remade.”

Ye An was speechless. It was easier said than done to change a handmade, custom wedding gown, given the time constraint.

Upon arriving home, Xie Shuo immediately pulled her into the study, retrieving the design sketches and photos that were sent over a couple of days ago and handing them to her.

Taking them, Ye An reviewed them and felt relieved.

Eldest Young Master Xie indeed had great taste. Both the necklace from before and the current wedding gown design hit all the right notes for her.

That night, Ye An couldn’t help but keep looking at the wedding gown design in her hands. She couldn’t bring herself to go to sleep, and in the end, Xie Shuo had to take the design from her hands and place it on the nightstand, forcibly pulling her into his arms.

He leaned over, wanting to kiss her, but she resisted, placing her hand on his shoulder, “The wedding gown will be ready by next month?”

Her eyes sparkled as if she couldn’t wait to see the finished product right now. Xie Shuo kissed her eyelid and said, “En, I’ll accompany you to try it on when it’s ready.”

Ye An wanted to ask about the wedding gown photos, but before she could speak, her lips were already sealed by his.

She struggled for a moment, gradually getting lost in the kiss, and her hands slowly dropped…

Outside the window, a gentle breeze brushed by, shadows floated, and the moonlight rippled like water.

    ……

After some discussion, the two of them decided to set the wedding date in June.

Originally, Xie Shuo had planned to wait until October and hold the wedding on an island abroad where they could see the Northern Lights. However, considering the distance and Grandfather Xie’s health, he had to abandon that plan and chose a nearby estate instead.

Before the wedding, he accompanied Ye An to visit her hometown and meet Xia Jin.

It was Xie Shuo’s first visit, and when Xia Jin opened the door and saw him, she was momentarily stunned.

Different from the coldness from last time, this time, Xie Shuo followed Ye An and greeted her with “Mom.”

Xia Jin momentarily couldn’t react, so she just nodded and let the two into the house.

During that exchange, she glanced at Xie Shuo’s eyes several times, confirming that he had indeed regained his sight, and felt relieved.

Although she was unhappy with Ye An for secretly getting married without telling her, she naturally hoped for the best for her daughter.

Moreover, disregarding his previous blindness, Xie Shuo’s overall conditions were indeed good. Now, she was more concerned about whether he would treat her daughter well or not.

After sitting down and chatting for a while, Ye An brought up the topic of holding a wedding ceremony.

Hearing this, Xia Jin was taken aback. “You guys didn’t have a wedding ceremony before?”

She had thought that Ye An had just secretly gotten married without telling her, but she didn’t expect it to be so rushed that they didn’t even have a proper wedding ceremony.

Seeing her change in expression, as if she was about to get angry, Ye An quickly grabbed Xie Shuo’s hand and explained before he could speak, “At that time, it wasn’t very convenient for A’Shuo, so we just had a family banquet. We originally planned to hold a proper wedding ceremony later, but we just haven’t found the time.”

Xia Jin’s expression eased, but she still looked a bit unhappy. It took a while before she asked about the specifics of the wedding.

Ye An provided a general overview of the wedding plans.

Most of the wedding matters were personally decided by Xie Shuo, with nothing skimped out on. After hearing it, Xia Jin only then felt somewhat pleased.

Around three or four in the afternoon, Xu Ji came over to find Xia Jin as usual. Ye An was not very familiar with him, so after she greeted him, she led Xie Shuo back to her room.

Standing in the room, Xie Shuo looked around his surroundings. There weren’t many items in the room, and most of the furnishings looked a bit old, indicating that she didn’t come back here often.

Guessing what he was thinking, Ye An held his arm and sat down on the bed, saying, “Actually, my relationship with my mom wasn’t that great before. Due to her divorce, she was very strict with me, always wanting to compare me with others and forcing me to learn this and that. Later, because I went to seek help from Ye Yuan Nian, she refused contact with me for quite a long time. It’s only in the past two years that things have improved a bit…”

Although Xia Jin’s attitude had noticeably changed in the last couple of years, and she was no longer as demanding as before, time had passed, and Ye An was no longer a child. Trying to restore the close bond they had in her childhood felt like something was missing.

Feeling her emotional downturn, Xie Shuo wrapped his arm around her shoulder and kissed her forehead lovingly.

After a moment of sorrow, Ye An hugged his neck and smiled, “But now, I have you…”

Everyone would grow up eventually; even parents could only accompany their children for a certain part of the journey. Now, she had a husband, her own home, and in the future, her own children.

For the rest of their life, they would spend it together.

She hugged him, resting her chin on his shoulder, and said, “You have to continue treating me well like this, got it?”

Her tone carried a hint of her usual domineering attitude.

Xie Shuo smiled and rubbed her back, responding with a soft “en.”

    ……

In mid-May, the wedding was mostly planned, and Ye An’s long-awaited wedding gown was finally ready.

The gown had a pure white base, with layers of petals unfolding, and the skirt was adorned with Swarovski crystals, making it exquisite and gorgeous. It was so stunning that it was hard to look away.

Ye An couldn’t wait to change into the gown, swirling in front of Xie Shuo, lifting the hem of the skirt. The gown showcased her slender shoulders and waist, every inch perfectly fitting.

Capturing his awed expression,  she couldn’t resist going up to him. Wrapping her hands around his neck, she looked up and gave him a rewarding kiss. “You have a good eye.”

Xie Shuo embraced her slender waist and looked down at her exquisite face, bright eyes, and vivid lips, like a stunning flower in full bloom.

He smiled, “En, it’s pretty good.”

With the wedding gown ready, next were the wedding photos. Ye An had been trying to decide on a photographer when she coincidentally met Zhuang Yinian while accompanying Xie Shuo to a friend’s party.

Upon hearing that she was looking for a photographer to take wedding photos, Zhuang Yinian recommended her studio, expressing that she could make time to shoot for them.

Zhuang Yinian was pretty well-known in the industry and had taken photos of many celebrities. Ye An gladly accepted her offer.

Everything proceeded smoothly, and Ye An never felt so alive before. Even when she had to wake up early to take photos in the morning, she was exceptionally spirited—radiant every day.

For the wedding photos, the two of them traveled to many places, both within the country and abroad, resembling a honeymoon.

The final photos turned out beautifully. When Ye An received the finished photos, she almost couldn’t resist posting them on Weibo to show off. However, considering that she had long been married online, posting her wedding photos at this point might seem too deliberate. With many fans and haters alike, she decided to restrain herself.

In the end, she selected only a few photos that were more casual and everyday to share.

Among them were two photos that showed her wedding ring. Sharp-eyed fans immediately noticed that the ring was slightly different from the one she had previously shared. This sparked a wave of speculation and discussions, with some fans even writing analyses.

Holding her phone, Ye An was thoroughly engrossed, and the smile on her lips couldn’t be smoothed away.

Since the preparations for the wedding began, there has been a visible change in Xie Shuo. His emotions were more apparent, and a smile could often be seen on his face.

However, while he was happy, not everyone shared the same sentiment—such as Xie Yuran.

Due to being busy with wedding preparations, Xie Shuo couldn’t handle much of the affairs of the company. Additionally, Xie Baiyan had completely stepped back, focusing on his health. Consequently, Xie Yuran was brought back to HQ to manage operations.

Whether it was due to the heavy responsibilities or other reasons, Xie Yuran had been looking a bit lifeless lately, as if he had inherited Xie Shuo’s past cold and somber demeanor.

    ……

The days passed in busyness and excitement, and soon, the chosen wedding date arrived.

On that day, the sky was clear, and the weather was beautiful.

Ye An woke up early and had her makeup done before changing into her wedding gown and heading to the venue.

Unlike before, when it was cold and cheerless, Xia Jin, Shi Shuangshuang, and other relatives and friends were present this time.

Seeing her in the wedding gown, Shi Shuangshuang was stunned for a while before taking out her phone to take photos while reminding Ye An, “Remember to toss the bouquet to me later.”

Ye An smiled, her eyes and brows were captivating.

Upon arriving at the venue, most of the guests had already arrived, eagerly waiting for the wedding to begin.

The vast estate was adorned with clusters of vibrant flowers, creating a lively and festive atmosphere.

The smell of flowers wafted in the air, and the soothing, melodious music sounded under the sunny day.

Wearing a light veil, Ye An walked through the flower-lined path, step by step, approaching the tall figure waiting for her at the end. The train of her gown shimmered like a galaxy of stars.

Xie Shuo, in his groom’s attire, watched as she approached him from the other end. He held out his hand toward her, his fingers long and elegant like jade.

The man stood tall and noble with a smile on his face.

Ye An placed her hand in his as he led her to stand before him.

At that moment, everything around them seemed to fade into nothingness, and as their gaze met, a reflection of each other appeared in their eyes.

He gently lifted the veil, lowering his head to kiss her.

The past regrets were now, at last, fulfilled.

    ……

The banquet continued into the night. After the wedding ceremony finished, the two of them changed into formal attire to entertain the guests.

With Xie Shuo by her side, Ye An didn’t drink much. Her cheeks were just slightly flushed.

After the celebration, instead of staying at the estate, they drove back to the Xie family manor.

Xie Shuo was quite drunk, leaning against Ye An with his eyes nearly closed throughout the drive back.

The car’s headlights pierced through the night, stopping in the garden. The stillness was accompanied by the faint chirping of insects. Ye An, holding her dress, stepped out of the car and turned to help him.

Xie Shuo opened his eyes, the depths filled with unmistakable drunkenness. He rubbed his temples, leaning on her as he got out.

The lights on the ground scattered like moonlight. Ye An supported Xie Shuo inside, careful not to step on her dress with her high heels.

Seeing this, Xie Shuo, wanting to wrap his arm around her waist, was pushed away by her. “You’re this drunk, and you still want to embrace me? Be careful not to make me fall!”

Xie Shuo looked down and smiled. “I won’t.”

“It’s not okay even if you say you won’t!”

Ye An didn’t trust him at all, helping him up the stairs, swaying as they went, their shadows dancing on the floor.

Although tonight was considered their wedding night, after being husband and wife for more than a year, there was nothing particularly novel or nerve-wracking about it.

Back in the bedroom, Ye An, as usual, fetched some pajamas from the closet and helped him into the bathroom.

Just as she put down the clothes and was about to turn around, her wrist was suddenly pulled, and then a warm breath enveloped her, drowning her in sensation.

After being intimate, Xie Shuo finally became somewhat clear-headed. However, Ye An was irked, especially when she saw the slightly tipsy smile on his face. That anger only grew.

She rubbed her waist and wrists, too lazy to bother with him. Wrapped in a towel, she stepped out of the bathroom.

During the day, the weather was sunny and warm. But at night, it suddenly started to rain heavily, smashing against the glass windows.

Listening to the sound of the rain, Ye An’s heart inexplicably calmed down. She walked to the window and observed the rainy scene outside.

Since that rainy night six years ago, Ye An had dreamt more than once about the events of that night, but over time, the memories gradually faded.

She had once thought that she and him would never meet again, but unexpectedly, after twists and turns, she ended up by his side.

After a while, footsteps approached from behind, and Xie Shuo also came out in a robe.

She didn’t turn around and said, “It’s raining.”

Xie Shuo walked up and embraced her from behind, his breath light as it brushed past her ear.

The rain continued to fall, creating a mist under the lights outside. The reflected figures onto the glass window became blurry, blending into one.

After the commotion in the bathroom, Xie Shuo didn’t initiate anything more. The two of them lingered by the window for a while before lying down in bed, whispering to each other.

The sound of rain gradually faded. Leaning against Xie Shuo’s chest, Ye An began to feel drowsy as she slowly closed her eyes.

Before drifting off to sleep completely, she mumbled, “Goodnight.”

Xie Shuo held her and kissed her gently on the forehead before whispering, “Goodnight.”

The room fell into silence, accompanied only by the faint sound of rain.

    ……

It was a little after five in the morning when Ye An suddenly woke up for some unknown reason.

Her mind was unusually clear, and there was a slight excitement as if today were the day of the wedding.

Unable to go back to sleep, she decided to gaze at the peaceful sleeping face next to her.

The sky was still dark, with a faint hint of light outside.

With the limited light, she gently touched Xie Shuo’s curled eyelashes.

    Mhm, not bad.

Probably because of alcohol, Xie Shuo was in a deep sleep. He didn’t react even when she disturbed him.

Ye An leaned in and kissed him on the lips.

After the kiss, she then kissed his chin.

This time, Xie Shuo finally woke up. His large hand swept behind her, pulling her into his embrace.

He lowered his head, resting it on her neck. His voice, still groggy from just waking up, was hoarse. “Why are you awake so early?”

His warm breath brushed over her neck, and Ye An reached out to embrace him, savoring the clean scent emanating from his body. She smiled brightly and said, “Can’t sleep.”

Feeling the softness in his arms, Xie Shuo closed his eyes before rolling over, pressing down on her with a heavy breath.

Ye An, however, suddenly felt a surge of excitement. She turned to look outside and said, “How about we get up and watch the sunrise?”

Her eyes sparkled, and before Xie Shuo could kiss her, she pulled him out of bed.

The two of them went up to the rooftop. After the rain, the air still carried a hint of moistness, and the refreshing smell of plants wafted into their noses with the breeze.

The sky remained dark, with a deep ink-like darkness extending to the horizon. It was only diluted by a faint grayish-white, spreading gently like a watercolor brush dipped in water.

Leaning against the railing, Ye An gazed into the distance with Xie Shuo standing by her side.

The long night gradually passed, and the sun slowly emerged from the horizon. Its golden light was magnificent, flooding the mountains, trees, and meadows like a tide, finally painting the world in hues that touched the eyebrows and eyes.

The morning rays cast onto Ye An’s eyelashes, and her eyes sparkled. Looking at her side profile bathed in the morning sun, Xie Shuo felt his heart flutter.

Many memories flashed through his mind once again…

The laughter that accompanied him in the darkness, vibrant and carefree; her familiar scent by the pillow when falling asleep at night; the first sight of her when he regained his vision…

He reached out and embraced her.

In his embrace, Ye An looked up and said with a smile, “Is there something I haven’t told you yet?”

Xie Shuo looked down at her bright smile.

Ye An leaned in close to his ear, her voice gentle like the morning breeze, “I love you too.”

As night turned to dawn, the rising sun leaped out from behind the distant mountains, illuminating everything.

You and I were once deeply immersed in the darkness, but now, we finally get to glimpse the light…

    End of Main Story…

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 69

On the fourth day since returning from the clinic, Xie Shuo had to travel out of the city for another business trip.

Ye An had planned to go with him, but due to an unexpected issue with a new movie project that the studio took on, she had to stay behind to handle the situation.

When Ye An was finally not busy and emerged from the recording studio, it was four days later.

During these few days, she and Xie Shuo had only briefly texted during their rare breaks. There was usually no communication between them.

Previously, when their feelings were not known, it didn’t seem like a big deal. However, now that they had been apart for just a few days, there was a sense of a long and distant separation.

When Ye An returned home at 4:00 p.m. she nestled on the sofa and sent a message to Xie Shuo.

Ye An: “I’m done with work and on vacation now!”

She added a cute emoji as well.

Xie Shuo was probably busy on his end as he took a while to respond, replying with a brief, “Rest well.”

Ye An: “How much longer until you come back?”

Xie Shuo: “Three days or so.”

Not even a “Miss me?” in his response; it seemed that he was indeed super busy, perfectly fitting his workaholic CEO persona.

Ye An couldn’t just keep bothering him, so she closed her phone and leaned back on the sofa.

In his absence, the house seemed noticeably quieter. Holding her phone, Ye An pondered for a moment before a sudden thought flashed through her mind.

She got up and quickly booked the earliest available flight before swiftly packing her bags and heading to the airport.

Xie Shuo’s business trip this time was in Haicheng. Her flight landed a little after 8 p.m.

Looking around at the vibrant city lights, Ye An, wearing a mask, hailed a taxi on the street.

She only knew the hotel where Xie Shuo was staying and not the specific room number. After getting into the taxi, she called Zhong Fu, asking him to meet her in the hotel lobby and instructing him not to inform Xie Shuo in advance.

When Zhong Fu received her call, he had just come out of Xie Shuo’s room. Upon hearing her instructions, he hurriedly took the elevator down and waited at the hotel lobby entrance in advance.

The lights reflected onto the glass walls, flickering. After about half an hour, Ye An appeared outside the hotel. She had an embroidered silk scarf around her neck, fluttering in the night breeze.

Zhong Fu quickly approached her, taking the carry-on from her hand, and greeted, “Madam.”

Ye An smiled. “Did he sleep yet?”

    “Not yet,” Zhong Fu replied.

Ye An followed Zhong Fu to take the elevator upstairs. When they were near Xie Shuo’s room, she turned to ask, “Do you have the room key?”

Zhong Fu took out Xie Shuo’s room key from his pocket and handed it to her.

Taking the key, Ye An smiled and whispered, “Go rest. I’ll go in and find him myself.”

    Zhong Fu nodded, “Alright.”

With the room key in hand, Ye An opened Xie Shuo’s room and entered the foyer, noticing that the lights were on. The sound of running water could be heard clearly from the direction of the bathroom.

It seemed he was taking a shower, and Ye An breathed a sigh of relief. She walked in confidently, hung her clothes in the closet from her carry-on, then took off her scarf before sitting on the sofa to wait for him.

Before long, the sound of water ceased, and the opening of a door echoed.

Ye An quickly got up from the sofa, discreetly hiding in the other side of the closet.

Footsteps approached, and a slender, lean figure appeared under the light. Xie Shuo, in a white robe, slowly stepped into the room, toweling his hair with strands of wet hair clinging to his forehead.

He happened to be facing away from Ye An. Quietly, she tiptoed behind him and playfully covered his eyes with her hands like a mischievous child.

The refreshing scent of shower gel wafted into her nose. She tiptoed closer, leaning toward his ear, and playfully blew a breath.

“Mister, would you like some service?”

She intentionally adjusted her voice to sound completely different from usual, as if dubbing a certain role.

Sensing someone approaching, Xie Shuo initially frowned. When the gentle hand covered his eyes and a familiar voice sounded beside his ear, his expression immediately softened and a smile appeared on his lips.

“What kind of service?” he asked.

Ye An kept one hand over his eyes, and the other slid down, wrapping around his waist. She pressed against him from behind, and her fingers mischievously wandered around his waist.

    “What do you think?”

The next moment, her delicate wrist was caught in his grip.

Xie Shuo swiftly turned and pulled her to his front, encircling her waist before looking down at her. “Why did you come?”

Ye An looked up and smiled while raising an eyebrow, “For a surprise inspection!”

As she said, she pulled at the lapels of his robe and glared at him. “A strange woman comes into your room, offering services, and you actually dare to agree? You’ve become bold now, huh?”

Xie Shuo looked at her, his eyes deepening as the hand around her waist tightened.

“Strange women aren’t allowed, but wifey can.”

He said hoarsely before suddenly kissing her.

Ye An was forced to lift her chin, and between her lips, there was only his breath, stealing away every breath.

Gradually, she felt a bit unsteady as her slender, fair fingers gripped tightly on his robe, a faint redness appearing on her ears.

Under the lights, her vision was blurred, as if immersed in a dream, undulating.

After a while, the warmth on her lips gradually receded, moving down to her neck.

Ye An could finally breathe freely and pressed her hand against his chest, turning her face away and preventing him from continuing. “I just got off the plane and haven’t even taken a shower.”

Xie Shuo looked up from her neck, holding her waist, his fingertips gently stroking her lips as he asked, “Have you had dinner?”

Ye An grabbed his hand and replied, “I had a little on the plane.”

He loosened his grip slightly, leading her to sit next to him. “Are you hungry? I’ll have some food delivered up?”

Ye An shook her head. “No need, I’m gonna go take a shower.”

She got up and grabbed her pajamas before heading to the bathroom.

After taking a shower, Ye An found that Xie Shuo was no longer on the sofa but sitting at the desk as he typed swiftly away on his laptop.

Seeing her, he finished typing the last line and closed the laptop.

Ye An, wearing a chemise with her long, fair legs exposed, towel-dried her hair and handed the hairdryer to him wantonly, saying, “Help me dry my hair.”

Taking it, Xie Shuo got up and sat with her on the sofa. He combed through her scattered hair with one hand while holding the blowdryer in the other, with a faint fragrance filling the air.

It was already quite late. The curtains fluttered in the wind, revealing sporadic lights from the buildings across.

After drying her hair, Ye An felt a bit tired and lazily leaned against his chest, unwilling to move.

Leaning against the sofa, Xie Shuo let his hand rest behind her waist. The loose necklines of his robe exposed a glimpse of his chest and collarbones combined with his cold profile; he appeared exceptionally sexy.

Having not seen each other for a few days, Ye An couldn’t help but sneak a few more glances.

Catching her in the act, Xie Shuo lowered his head and teased, “Craving my body again?”

    Ye An: “……”

What she said when she was drunk, why does he still remember it?

Ye An’s face flushed, feeling a bit annoyed. She decisively pulled open his collar, openly giving herself a good look.

So what if I’m craving your body?

Xie Shuo’s robe was wide open, revealing his lean and well-defined chest.

He chuckled before wrapping one arm around her waist and the other across her knee, lifting her onto his lap and leaning down to kiss her.

Ye An purposely leaned backward, refusing to let him his way. She pressed her hands against his shoulders and smiled smugly. “Who exactly is craving whose body?”

Xie Shuo didn’t answer, just lowered his head to kiss her.

The next moment, Ye An’s body lifted off the ground, and she instinctively wrapped her arms around his neck.

Xie Shuo carried her, taking large strides to the bed before placing her down and pressing against her.

In the midst of the night, Ye An was curled up under the covers, drifting into a deep sleep. Meanwhile, Xie Shuo leaned against the bedhead. Bathed in the dim, yellow light, he reached for a small velvet box.

    ……

The next day, Xie Shuo woke up early to discuss a partnership, leaving Ye An to rest in the hotel.

Feeling bored, Ye An dragged her aching body out of bed, changed into suitable attire, and joined him.

Having often assisted him in reading documents and accompanied him in negotiating deals before, Ye An had accumulated enough experience. Now, she could effortlessly handle such occasions, even understanding some of the contents they discussed.

After the meeting, Ye An linked arms with him and said jokingly, “You should consider giving me an extra salary for this.”

Xie Shuo chuckled and said while looking at her, “How about giving you some shares and bringing you into the company?”

Ye An was taken aback, afraid he might actually do it, and quickly said, “There’s no need for that; just a salary is fine.”

If Xie Baiyan and Grandfather Xie knew about this, they wouldn’t just think of it like that. Moreover, she hadn’t reached a point where could genuinely contribute anything to the company.

Three days later, Xie Shuo had finished with the things he needed to do on his business trip and spent a few more days with Ye An in Haicheng before returning.

As the spring chill passed, the weather was getting warmer and warmer day by day.

Just two days after returning, Ye An was invited to participate in an indoor variety show.

In addition to her and Xiang Quan, there were also other well-known voice actors from the industry attending the show, mainly to promote their studios.

It wasn’t the first time Ye An had participated in these kinds of variety shows, so she took the stage calmly with a smile. However, when she scanned the audience, she froze for a moment.

Seated in the front row was a familiar figure… She wasn’t sure when Xie Shuo had arrived, but there he was, watching her from the audience. His face was somewhat blurred in the lights, but there was a faint smile on his lips.

He was wearing a black shirt, his features cold and stern, exuding a charismatic aura that immediately attracted many eyes.

Ye An snapped back to reality, and guided by the host, took her seat. However, her gaze couldn’t help but be drawn to where he was sitting, occasionally wandering toward his direction.

After the lively opening, it was time for everyone’s voice acting performance.

On the elevated stage, bathed in dazzling lights, Ye An walked to the center, the lights instantly enveloping her. Under the lights, her features became more distinct, stunning, and captivating.

The fans in the audience cheered excitedly. Xie Shuo sat among the audience, quietly watching her. In his deep eyes, a faint glimmer seemed to resemble stars in the sky.

After the show ended, the audience began to disperse, and Xie Shuo went backstage with one hand in his pocket, waiting for her. In his suit, his long legs drew attention.

After exchanging greetings with the crew members, she eagerly ran over to him while holding the hem of her dress. Her eyes sparkled as her face expressed pure joy. “Why did you come? Didn’t you say there was a problem at the company?”

Before the show, she had called him, and he mentioned something had come up at the company, so he couldn’t come to pick her up tonight. Ye, he unexpectedly appeared in the audience.

Xie Shuo smiled and didn’t answer her, just taking her hand and leading her out under the gaze of numerous staff members.

That night, the comments under Ye An’s Weibo exploded.

Some fans had photographed Xie Shuo sitting in the audience and watching the show. They had posted them on Weibo. Despite the dim lighting and blurry images, it still stirred up some fervor on Weibo.

    ……

Even after leaving the recording studio, Ye An’s heart continued to beat erratically, her face slightly red from the night breeze.

After getting into the car, Xie Shuo turned to ask, “Let’s get dinner?”

Ye An smiled with a sparkle in her eyes. “Okay.”

Before the show, she had eaten something light, not fully satisfied. Now, she could have dinner with him.

Soon, the driver parked the car in front of a restaurant.

When getting out of the car at the entrance, Ye An couldn’t shake off the feeling that the surroundings seemed oddly familiar, as if she had been there before, but she couldn’t recall when.

Inside the restaurant, the soft lighting created a romantic atmosphere. Xie Shuo poured half a glass of red wine, and Ye An smiled, resting her chin on her hand. “What’s the occasion? Why such a grand setup all of a sudden?”

Xie Shuo looked up and smiled. “En, it’s a very important day.”

    Why so mysterious…

Ye An, unsure of what he was up to, took a few sips of the wine, awaiting his next move.

After dinner, they left the restaurant, not in a hurry to return home, strolling along the street.

The night breeze was gentle, and a few cherry blossom trees planted along the road filled the air with a faint floral fragrance.

After walking for a while, Ye An finally realized why the surroundings felt so familiar… This seemed to be the road leading to her university.

Going further back in her memories… she recalled that it was here where he first encountered her. He had escorted her back to the university, marking this the place of their initial meeting.

However, it was raining that night while the moon was bright tonight—a rare sight.

The hazy light enveloped the shadows of the trees, and clusters of cherry blossoms adorned the branches, with occasional petals falling gently.

Six years had passed, and the surroundings had changed, but the general layout remained the same.

“Why did you suddenly think of coming here?” She asked, gently holding his hand.

Xie Shuo turned to look at her and smiled, “Finally remembered it?”

    “Of course.”

Ye An raised her chin with a smile. “I thought you had long forgotten.”

Xie Shuo remained silent, holding her fingers and looking ahead, his features shrouded in the night.

He couldn’t recall it before because he didn’t care, but after she brought it up, memories flooded in, gradually becoming clear. Even details like the dress she wore and the expression on her face when they first met came vividly back to him.

As they walked a bit further and turned onto another street, Ye An suddenly said, “Do you remember the last time when I took you out for shopping? That street is the same one you passed by when you escorted me back to campus.”

No wonder she asked if he had been there before; now, it made sense.

The scene from that year flashed through his mind once again.

Seeing him silent, as if contemplating something, Ye An tugged at his hand and asked, “What are you thinking about?”

Coming back from his thoughts, Xie Shuo turned to look at her and smiled. “I was thinking… why didn’t I ask for your name back then.”

If he had cared a bit more back then, perhaps they could have been together sooner.

If she hadn’t remembered throughout the years and taken the initiative to approach him, they might have missed each other.

Ye An was taken aback and realized what he meant before whispering, “What else could it be? You simply weren’t interested in me back then. Not leaving me on the road to fend for myself was already pretty good.”

Not everyone’s first meeting came with a love-at-first-sight plot. He grew up privileged and exposed to all kinds of girls. How could he be easily attracted to a reckless little girl who bumped into him?

Moreover, she was so disheveled at the time; her beauty was probably long gone, leaving only a pitiable appearance.

He helped her most likely out of sheer pity.

To be fair, if he had genuinely shown interest in her at that time, considering her extreme mindset back then, she might have seen him as some kind of sponsor, thinking he was taking advantage of her vulnerability.

With one hand in his pocket and toying with the velvet box in his hand, Xie Shuo gazed at her silently.

They strolled and chatted for about half an hour before finally returning home.

Once they returned home, Ye An was about to head to the bedroom when he pulled her to the music room.

The room had obviously been decorated in advance, filled with a sweet scent and adorned with a large bouquet of roses, their petals vibrant and alluring in the halo of light.

The cover on the piano had been removed, revealing a piano with a gleaming, new-like surface.

Ye An stared in astonishment at the scene before her.

Xie Shuo smiled, “Didn’t you want to listen to me play the piano?”

As he said that, he released her hand and walked to the piano before sitting down. His long, clean fingers gently pressed the keys, producing a soothing melody that flowed like moonlight.

The light enveloped him, outlining his handsome profile and making him appear both elegant and noble.

In an instant, it felt as if she had traveled back in time to the moment when she first met him. Ye An stood still, her gaze fixed on him, taking a long while to come back to her senses.

As the piece ended, Xie Shuo got up and pulled her to sit in front of the piano. He reached into his pocket and took out an exquisite velvet box.

Opening the box revealed an exquisite diamond ring, sparkling and dazzling.

Recently, he had thought about various ways to propose, repeatedly envisioned and rejected them, and in the end, he chose something simple like this.

    “Marry me.”

He knelt on one knee, looking up at her. His eyes were as deep as the sea, reflecting only her figure.

Ye An was stunned, her fingers curled up on her lap, and the corners of her eyes couldn’t help but turn red.

There were some things she didn’t actively seek because she had long been accustomed to it, but she hadn’t expected that he had remembered all along.

She looked away, holding back her tears. After a while, she pretended to be dissatisfied and joked, “You also realized that you still owed me a proposal…”

Xie Shuo smiled and took her hand before sliding the diamond ring onto her ring finger, pushing it up slowly.

Her fair, slender finger completed the diamond ring perfectly.

He propped himself up with one hand by her side, standing up slowly as his fingertip brushed over the corner of her eye. He lowered his head to kiss her forehead, his voice unusually loving.

    “I love you.”

I love you, not because of a fleeting attraction nor not out of pity.

    Simply because I love you.
