    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 16.3

Ye An’s anger hadn’t dissipated yet, so she sent a message to Shi Shuangshuang as she leaned on the handrail. Her slender fingers moved quickly across the screen.

Ye An: [If someone were to throw a large sum of money at you to humiliate you, would you beat him up?]

Shi Shuangshuang: [??? Does that happen???]

Shi Shuangshuang: [Don’t underestimate me because I’m pretty and tender! Come on then! Use all the money you want to humiliate me!]

    ……

    Ye An: […]

Shi Shuangshuang: [Wait! Who dared to use money to humiliate you? Was it your rich and powerful husband?]

Shi Shuangshuang: [WTF! What an arrogant CEO!]

Shi Shuangshuang: [How much money? Let me think this through for you.]

Ye An: [I don’t know. He gave me a black card; I didn’t take it.]

    Shi Shuangshuang: [???]

Shi Shuangshuang: [Why not take it? Think about it! He’s your husband; would you prefer the money be spent on some other hussy? Don’t be dumb!]

    Shi Shuangshuang: [frustrated.jpg]

Ye An snorted and glanced back at the room.

She actually wasn’t worried about Xie Shuo having a mistress. With his personality, even a goddess running around naked in front of him would be useless, not to mention a little hussy.

Every woman was probably the same to him anyway.

With Shi Shuangshuang’s input, Ye An’s anger had pretty much dissipated. She suddenly harbored a little bit of regret for turning down the card.

Life was short; why disagree over money?

She exhaled and turned her phone off before returning to the bedroom.

Xie Shuo was once again silently sitting on his beloved couch. His long eyelashes faintly drooped.

Ye An was suddenly reminded of an abandoned animal and found him somewhat pitiful.

“Card?” She walked towards him and extended her hand.

Xie Shuo raised his head. “I thought you didn’t want it?”

Ye An kept her chin high and tried to keep her voice bold and confident. “I take it back.”

Xie Shuo ignored her with a cold expression.

        ……

…Sigh, he even had an attitude.

“You said it was for me. You can’t say something and not mean it.” Ye An sat near him and looked at his hands resting casually on his abdomen.

His fingers were slender and clean, with little webbing between them.

He hadn’t left the house during this time, so the card still had to be on him.

Ye An pondered for a while as her gaze drifted down and finally stopped at his trouser pockets.

Nothing was poking out of his pocket, and nothing could be seen.

She quickly reached in to probe around when he wasn’t paying attention.

    The left pocket was empty.

Was it in the other one?

Her slender fingers fumbled back and forth across his thigh, tickling him. Xie Shuo frowned and forcefully pressed down on the intrusive hand.

    “What are you doing?”

Ye An, not noticing anything wrong, replied matter-of-factly, “Looking for the card! Where did you hide it?”

    ……

After noticing Xie Shuo’s dark expression, feeling the strong force pressing down her hand, and detecting the warmth of the tactile sensations, she noticed that these actions… seemed a bit ambiguous.

She was leaning forward, and her fair and slender chin almost pressed against his shoulder. Her breath brushed across his cheeks.

    The atmosphere became strangely quiet.

Ye An’s ears gradually turned red. She struggled to pull her hand out of his pocket with an embarrassed expression. Fortunately,  Xie Shuo couldn’t see it.

“Forget it; it’s not valuable,” Ye An spoke in a small voice to conceal her embarrassment.

Xie Shuo frowned and was silent for a moment. He took the card out from his other pocket and gave it to her.

Ye An originally wanted to act prideful, but since she was afraid of him taking it back, she didn’t try to argue with him and accepted it.

She immediately became happy upon having the shiny black card in front of her.

It felt good to be rich!

She tilted her head to look at the man beside her again. The soft lighting outlined the contours of his frosty side profile. Even his eyelashes were highlighted by the soft brilliance.

This eldest young master’s behavior wasn’t bad today. He accompanied her on a walk and gave her money. He even spoke in her defense during dinner, even though his attitude wasn’t very pleasant.

Ye An suddenly thought of an idea and took the opportunity to say, “I’m going to start recording tomorrow. When I’m not home, how about you go outside every day and take a walk? You can also have Aunt Zhou to accompany you.”

Xie Shuo, expressionless, acted like she hadn’t spoken.

Ye An extended her hand to flick his chin and continued to test him, “What if you come with me while I record? I don’t mind.”

Xie Shuo finally had some sort of  reaction. He turned to face her and suddenly spoke, “Do you know why I spoke up for you earlier?”

    Ye An: “?”

Xie Shuo: “You’re too noisy to stay at home.”

After speaking, Xie Shuo stood up coldly.

Ye An stared at the back of his head, angered to the point of being unable to speak. The favorable feelings that she had for him for a moment immediately disappeared.

I shouldn’t even hold any hope for people like him!

If he knew how to speak humanely, water would even be able to flow backward!

        —

The next day, the weather was breezy.

Grandfather Xie was at ease now that his grandson was taken care of, so he decided to return to the old residence. Xie Baiyan personally escorted him back.

Ye An’s gaze trailed behind the two figures departing in the car, and she breathed a sigh of relief.

Grandfather Xie was gone; Xie Baiyan was busy with the company’s affairs and rarely returned. In the future, she could truly do whatever she wanted in this huge mansion! That was too amazing!

She glanced at Xie Shuo to the side and almost couldn’t help but display her sinister smile.

Thinking of the two cards that now belonged to her, she suppressed her urges and asked, “You’re really not going outside with me?”

Xie Shuo ignored her and turned to go upstairs.

Ye An didn’t feel like pestering him, so she gave a few reminders to Aunt Zhou and hurried to the recording studio.

After arriving at the studio, she unexpectedly came across Lu Hong.

“Miss Ye has also come?” Lu Hong looked at her with a subtle expression.

Ye An stopped in her tracks, remembering their past two unpleasant encounters.

Xiang Quan noticed something off about the situation and hurriedly explained in a quiet tone, “As the Brilliant Dreams representative, Lu Hong is here to supervise the recording process and monitor the results.”

When Ye An had called Zhong Fu before, he had never mentioned Lu Hong. So it wasn’t surprising for Brilliant Dreams to continue allowing him to be responsible for recording matters. Ye An, involuntarily cringing at the thought of their last encounter, tacitly took the initiative to greet him, “President Lu.”

Xiang Quan’s plan was to have all the recording done in ten days, so time was tight. No one dared to delay the schedule, so everyone gave their all to start recording.

Lu Hong deliberately nitpicked in two instances during recording, but Ye An wanted to return home as soon as possible and didn’t bother with him. She patiently endured it.

Around six in the evening, Lu Hong couldn’t bear the dullness of the recording studio and finally left.

As soon as he left, Ye An felt the atmosphere of the recording studio lighten. She ordered takeout with everyone else, and after eating, they resumed working.

The recording did not end until eleven.

The family’s chauffeur had been waiting for a long time. Thus, Ye An packed her things and hurried down in the elevator.

She hadn’t even gotten two steps away from the company building when a car’s blinker lights flashed at her.

Ye An raised her hand to block the harsh lights, and the car stopped beside her soon after.

The car window rolled down to reveal Lu Hong’s face. His features were vague and wrinkled, resembling a piece of flatbread.

“Miss Ye, it’s late. Can I send you back?”

He seemed to have drunk quite a bit of alcohol since the smell was overpowering.

Ye An knitted her brows and tried to be polite for the last time. She tactfully declined, “No thanks, President Lu. My family’s chauffeur is right in front.”

She began to walk away, but Lu Hong stopped her again. “Is Miss Ye… very familiar with President Yuan?”

    ???President Yuan?

    Ye An was confused.

    Which President Yuan?

Lu Hong looked at her with narrowed eyes and sneered. Last time at the bar, she refused his offer without any hesitation. He thought she had an upright character, but who would have known that she would fall into another man’s arms?

“Our President Yuan is known to be a henpecked husband; Miss Ye is very courageous.”

After thinking for a while, Ye An finally realized that the CEO of Brilliant Dreams was surnamed Yuan. It seemed that Zhong Fu found President Yuan, and President Yuan had gone to find Lu Hong. Thus, Lu Hong thought that she had a relationship with President Yuan.

Seeing Lu Hong’s taunting sneer, she didn’t bother to explain herself. She coldly stated, “President Lu is mistaken; I have no relationship with your President Yuan. Rumors can be harmful, so please don’t speculate. It’s getting late; I’ll return home.”

After speaking, Ye An didn’t bother with him anymore and walked away without looking back.

The car lights were dim. When they shined on Lu Hong’s face, it made him appear particularly gloomy.

        —

By the time she arrived back at the Xie residence, it was already midnight.

Ye An napped on the way back and was still drowsy upon entering the house.

Tonight, Xie Shuo didn’t wait for her to come back and take a shower. He had gone to sleep much earlier.

The bedroom was extremely quiet. Ye An was afraid of disturbing him, so she took off her shoes and walked barefoot on the ground.

She went to the closet to get pajamas. Since Xie Shuo couldn’t see, she walked to the bathroom while unbuttoning her clothes.

The soft light shined on her fair shoulders and emphasized her elegant curves.

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 16.2

The sound of her footsteps quickly faded, and the surroundings became silent once again.

The breeze brushed past. The sun rays fell on his body, the warmth melting into his skin and gradually heating up.

Xie Shuo lowered his gaze. His thick eyelashes were long, casting a faint shadow on his cheeks.

He sat peacefully. After a long time, his fingers on the table moved slightly.

After entering the house, she went to the kitchen and took out some strawberries from the fridge. She took them to the sink to wash.

Aunt Zhou frantically came over. “Madam, I can do it.”

Ye An looked up and smiled. “It’s no problem; I’m almost done.”

Aunt Zhou looked at her, her gaze becoming gentle.

After washing the strawberries, Ye An quickly exited the house.

As the sound of footsteps approached, Xie Shuo’s eyelashes fluttered open.

“I washed some strawberries. If you want to eat anything else, I can let Aunt Zhou know.” Ye An sat by his side and placed the strawberries on the table.

    Xie Shuo didn’t reply.

Ye An thought that he didn’t want to eat anything else, so she used a fork to bring a strawberry to his mouth. “Come taste it. I just ate one, and it was really sweet.”

Xie Shuo didn’t move his lips and lifted his hand instead. Approximating the distance, he clasped onto her wrist and moved up to finally take the fork from her hand.

Ye An: “…Alright, eat it yourself.”

She grabbed another fork to stuff a strawberry in her mouth. Unlocking the phone single-handedly, she opened the app and began to read a question.

“I’m starting! Who wrote Qimin Yaoshu: Li Shizhen, Sun Simiao, or Jia Sixie?”

Xie Shuo had a cold expression, obviously unwilling to participate.

Ye An anxiously urged, “Hurry up, this one has a time limit!”

Xie Shuo remained silent for two seconds before reluctantly answering, “Jia Sixie.”

“The masterpiece of historians, the Li Sao without rhyme–whose work are these praises describing?”

    – Li Sao, or “The Lament” is a highly esteemed poem written by Qu Yuan from the Warring States period in ancient China.

    “Sima Qian.”

Xie Shuo got most of the answers right. After the first round, Ye An had become extremely excited. Her eyes gleamed, reflecting fragments of light.

When a new round started, Ye An read a certain question that was quite long. She took up a large portion of time just by reading it out loud, and when she was done, she hurriedly urged, “Quickly!”

Xie Shuo only paused before immediately giving the correct answer.

    “That’s right, that’s right!”

Ye An was so excited she couldn’t resist bringing a strawberry she already had on her fork to his lips.

Xie Shuo didn’t want things to be even more troublesome and didn’t refuse it. He opened his mouth to bite down.

Suddenly, Ye An saw an incision on the strawberry.

    ……

She suddenly remembered that… she had just taken a small bite of it just then.

However, it was too late to take it back.

    Ye An: “…”

    Sorry.

Ye An watched Xie Shuo eat the strawberry. Her lips twisted, and she couldn’t bear to tell him the truth.

Forget it. If he were to know, his face would probably turn cold again. It’d be better for him not to know.

Before they knew it, there were only two strawberries left on the plate. Ye An was a little bit guilty, so she turned off her phone. “Let’s stop playing and rest for a little bit.”

The strawberries had made her somewhat full, so she looked around and suggested, “How about we go on a walk?”

    Xie Shuo didn’t move.

Ye An tugged at his sleeves. “We’re going to easily get fat by sitting too long, and we also just ate strawberries.”

As she spoke, she glanced at his waist and abdomen.

“Seriously, aren’t you scared of losing your abs by sitting around all day and not exercising?”

Xie Shuo was wearing a casual shirt, and the wrinkles around the waist made it impossible to see any abdominal muscles.

Ye An looked again and asked curiously, “Hey, do you have an eight-pack?”

Xie Shuo coldly faced her, uninterested in answering her senseless question.

Seeing that he wasn’t speaking, Ye An recalled the night of their wedding. She couldn’t help but worry. “Could it be that you had them before but lost them now?”

She blurted out, “Do you want me to help you check?”

    Xie Shuo: “…”

Xie Shuo supported himself using the table. His expression was complicated, as if she had said something terrifying.

    .

It was just one look; was that look necessary? With those slanderous thoughts, Ye An reached out to support him and walked towards the sidewalk.

“I’m telling the truth. It’s easy to grow a belly after sitting too long. You should come outside and walk more for the sake of your abs…”

The sun gradually rose higher, and the shadows of the two merged together.

At the villa’s doorway, Grandfather Xie stood there for an unknown length of time. Hearing the distant laughter, the expression on his aged face softened.

He stood there for a while before turning to speak to Aunt Zhou, “Let’s go inside.”

        —

Xie Baiyan, who had barely been home in the past few days, had suddenly returned at dinnertime.

Hearing that Xie Shuo went outside today, he was in high spirits, and his gaze towards Ye An became even kinder.

Ye An estimated that it was about time. She took advantage of this opportunity to mention that she was going to start returning to the recording studio starting tomorrow.

Hearing that, Xie Baiyan’s smile faded. His choice of words was deliberate, “An An, since you married into the Xie family, you don’t have to work so hard anymore. This job requires you to leave early and return late; it’s not suitable for a girl like you…”

Ye An was prepared for it to not go smoothly and recited her rehearsed reasoning, “It’ll be finished in around ten days, so it won’t be too long. I’ll also take on fewer projects in the future.”

Xie Baiyan frowned lightly, still not agreeing.

“Dad,” Xie Shuo spoke up on the side.

He put down his chopsticks and said lightly, “She told me about this already, and I agreed.”

Ye An was taken aback and looked up at him in surprise.

Did the sun rise from the west today; he really spoke in her defense?

Even if his personality were to change, wouldn’t this be too quick?

Since Xie Shuo spoke, Xie Baiyan could no longer say anything and could only accept it.

After eating dinner and returning upstairs, Ye An looked at Xie Shuo. She couldn’t help asking, “Just now… why did you help speak up for me?”

Xie Shuo didn’t reply to her and returned to the study instead.

Just as she mentioned his personality changing, he began to ignore her again.

Ye An really couldn’t understand his thoughts. She busied herself with workplace news and didn’t follow him in, staying by herself in the bedroom.

Around half an hour later, Xie Shuo returned from the study and suddenly handed her a black card.

    Ye An was stunned. “You…”

Xie Shuo said, “Take this card. Quit your job if you don’t want to work.”

Ye An returned to her senses and widened her eyes in surprise. “You finally realized how badly you treat me, and this is how you want to make it up to me?”

A second later, cold water was poured on her.

“Don’t make yourself out to be so miserable in the future, or else it’d seem like the Xie family treats you badly.”

His tone was as cold as ever.

    Ye An: “…”

Why was this person so disdainful even when trying to gift a card?

Ye An’s chest was stuffy, and she suddenly felt insulted.

If it were like usual, she would definitely take such a large sum of money. However, this time, she couldn’t stand this charitable attitude.

She could be killed but not humiliated! No matter what, Xie Baiyan would still give her 500,000 yuan every month. She didn’t need his charity!

Ye An looked up and used the same arrogant tone to reply to him, “No need, I have money.”

Hearing the unhappiness in her tone, Xie Shuo frowned, not understanding why she would suddenly be angry.

Ye An also didn’t wait for him to understand, grabbing her phone before going directly to the balcony.

Xie Shuo was left in the room by himself holding a card. His figure was lonely, and his expression was blank.

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 16.1

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 16.1

    “Are you going or not?”

Her tone was threatening. Her breaths fell on his lips, and her scent entered his nose.

    Xie Shuo frowned.

In the next second, he felt the softness of her lips.

It was only a light peck and nothing else.

Xie Shuo’s usually indifferent expression finally showed a trace of surprise.

He couldn’t see but he was very sensitive to his surroundings. Her breaths were warm and light in the darkness.

Her fingers that were hooked on the back of his neck tightened slightly, applying some force.

    Their surroundings were silent.

As he returned to his senses and wanted to push her away, the softness had already left his lips.

Ye An drew herself closer to him and nuzzled her face against his neck. When she spoke again, she sounded as if she were about to cry.

“Couldn’t you try to coax me for once?”

Her long eyelashes swept against his skin, carrying some faint moisture. He was unclear on whether it was his own misperception or not.

    Xie Shuo’s actions paused.

His heart seemed to have been slightly disturbed, making turbulent waves.

After a long time, he relaxed his brows and replied faintly, “Get off.”

“No!” Ye An didn’t expect that he wouldn’t change his mind. Her temper rose again and remained obstinate to the end. “If you don’t agree today, then I won’t get off!”

Her slender arms hugged him tightly in a manner that wouldn’t let go even if she were to die.

Xie Shuo couldn’t see her expression and didn’t know what she looked like. He could only imagine based on her arrogant and unreasonable tone.

A feeling of helplessness suddenly arose in his chest. He had to acknowledge her ability to annoy someone. From acting menacing to pitiful to cute… she could do it all seamlessly.

After a moment of silence, Xie Shuo suggested quietly, “If you’re not going to get off, should I carry you outside?”

        ……

    Was she understanding him correctly?

The pleasant surprise caught her off guard, and Ye An was overwhelmed for a little while.

Xie Shuo suddenly raised his arms to wrap around her waist as if he wanted to hug her.

The man’s slender fingers fell on her waist, separated by a cloth barrier. Only then did Ye An realize how ambiguous their position was. She quickly removed his hands and got off of his body.

When his thin lips came into her line of sight, the scene from just then flashed through her mind. Her face couldn’t help but feel a little warm.

Just now, when she was angered half to death, she only wanted to win against him. Now that the situation was calm, she felt uneasy.

This time, it appeared that it was her loss regardless.

She touched her lips and glanced at him again. The feeling wasn’t all that terrible?

At this thought, her face grew hotter.

Xie Shuo’s mind wasn’t racing like hers was. He slowly walked out with a calm expression.

Ye An followed and asked eagerly, “Do you want me to get you some sunglasses?”

    Xie Shuo: “No need.”

        —

As Ye An said, the weather was sunny and bright. Under the sunlight, Xie Shuo’s eyelids and fingers trembled, somewhat unused to the intense feeling and warmth.

Ye An was afraid of him regretting his decision, so she took his arm and guided him forward.

The two of them walked along the gravel path and sat at a table in the gardens.

With the high skies and light clouds, the flowers and grasses released their fragrances in the wind. Ye An propped her chin on her elbow and looked at the person in front of her. “How is it? Doesn’t coming out on a walk help you feel better?”

Xie Shuo’s expression was indifferent, and he didn’t reply.

Ye An wasn’t annoyed. Instead, she immersed herself in the joy of “finally luring him out.” She admired his beauty for a while before turning to observe the nature around her.

It was late spring. Many flowers had passed their blooming season, leaving only a small fraction of blossoming flowers.

Beautiful purples and brilliant reds laid in swaths of vivid greens.

Ye An suddenly turned to ask, “Do you want to know what the flowers in front of you look like?”

Without waiting for a reply, she started to describe it by herself–

“To your right is a red rose bush. A little bit farther ahead is a crabapple tree. On the left in the nook, there’s a blooming purple flower. It looks familiar, but I don’t know the name…”

Not far away from them, vines wrapped around the flower stands. A few small flowers appeared among the lush greenery, swaying lightly in the breeze.

As she spoke, Ye An felt that it was a little too calm. She suddenly thought of an idea and made two cat sounds.

“What a cute kitty!” She pretended to be surprised.

Xie Shuo didn’t respond. Not even his eyelids moved.

Ye An mimicked a bird’s call.

    Xie Shuo still didn’t react.

Ye An couldn’t help but feel somewhat discouraged. “I worked so hard on those sounds; can’t you at least give me a reaction?”

Hearing this, Eldest Young Master Xie finally raised his eyes. “Do you think I’m a three-year-old child?”

    “……”

Ye An was annoyed and followed up, saying, “You aren’t a three-year-old child; you’re an adult…” After a pause, she muttered, “But you don’t seem to have adult needs.”

She thought that her voice was quiet, but after losing his eyesight, Xie Shuo’s senses were very sensitive. Thus, he heard the sentence clearly.

He crossed his fingers and faced her, asking, “What needs?”

When he was expected to reply, he’d never answer. On the other hand, when he wasn’t expected to reply, he did so faster than anyone else.

“Nothing.” Ye An quickly changed the subject, “Were my imitations not good?”

Xie Shuo lowered his gaze and declined to comment.

…Sure enough, he ignored others instead of responding.

Ye An supported her chin while complaining, “To be honest, it’s not easy for us voice actors. We have to learn and know everything. Dubbing people, animals… when we enter the recording studio, we frequently have to work overtime, and stay late into the night…”

Hearing her pitiful speech, Xie Shuo finally showed some compassion. “Since it’s so hard, why continue to do it?”

Ye An replied without thinking, “To survive, of course. If I’m not going to work, are you going to raise me?”

Xie Shuo: “The Ye Family wasn’t able to raise you?”

As soon as Xie Shuo spoke, there was a sudden silence surrounding him.

The person in front of him that had been talking non-stop suddenly went silent. She didn’t speak for a long time.

    The mood gradually turned awkward.

Only then did Xie Shuo remember one thing–she was the daughter of Ye Yuan Nian’s ex-wife and didn’t grow up in the Ye Family.

Xie Shuo had known about Ye An’s relevant history long ago, but he didn’t pay too much heed. Since the Ye Family was able to convince her to enter this political marriage, then it must have benefited her in some way.

However, looking at her reaction now, that didn’t seem to be the case.

Did the Ye family treat her badly?

There was a long silence, with the winds being the only surrounding sound.

The thought of “Is she crying?” even flashed through Xie Shuo’s mind, and his emotions fluctuated.

He frowned and was about to say something, but Ye An suddenly spoke, “Shouldn’t you say something supportive to soothe me?”

Her tone was nothing out of the ordinary, without choking or crying sounds.

“…” Xie Shuo felt that his worry just now was completely unnecessary.

“Without the slightest hint of social awareness, I might as well have married a piece of paper,” Ye An muttered.

Xie Shuo’s expression smoothed out, and he didn’t speak again.

After Ye An finished, she looked up at him and suddenly asked, “It’s boring to sit like this; how about we do something?”

She thought for a bit before picking up her phone from the table. She swiped the screen with her slender fingers.

“Do you want to play a game?” she looked up and asked.

Xie Shuo faced her with no expression, resuming his indifferent manner.

“Let’s not play MOBA games and play trivia games instead. You don’t need to see–just listen.”

She opened an app, and just as she was about to read a riddle, she thought of something and put down her phone.

“Do you want a drink? I’ll go grab some fruits and bring them over.”

She got up and left without waiting for his response.

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 15

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 15

    “Who’s Muqing?”

Just as Ye An spoke, Xie Shuo’s expression changed.

He didn’t answer and asked instead, “What was sent?”

    “A card and a wedding gift…”

Ye An opened the gift box to see a pair of jewel-embedded brooches set in velvet. They were exquisitely radiant and appeared very valuable.

“There’s a really pretty pair of brooches for you–” She originally wanted to say “for you to look at,” but he wasn’t able to see anyway. She switched her phrasing at the last moment to “to feel?”

“No need. Just put it down somewhere.”

His tone was light as if he didn’t care at all.

Ye An looked at him and then at the meticulously arranged greeting card and gift. Her womanly intuition told her “Muqing” wasn’t that simple.

“You still haven’t told me who Muqing is.”

Xie Shuo didn’t answer and continued to feel his way around the closet.

The more unwilling he was to answer, the more Ye An became suspicious. She stepped forward and leaned closer to his side. She probed, “Could it be your ex-girlfriend?”

Xie Shuo finally had some sort of reaction. He knitted his brows in her direction with a “what are you thinking” expression before lightly stating, “She’s the daughter of an assistant director at the company.”

Ye An stared at him before uttering a single, “Sure.”

    Xie Shuo, “…”

Afraid that she would cause a ruckus, Xie Shuo added on to clarify, “Not an ex-girlfriend.”

Ye An secretly thought that it couldn’t just be that. Why else would the gift be so delicately packaged and the words be so affectionately written?

However, she didn’t intend to fight with him over an alleged wedding gift. After all, their marriage was strictly political with no emotional ties.

She hadn’t even decided to bring up his past relationships. It was fine as long as he didn’t go back to his ex and embarrass her in the future.

His performance just now was barely acceptable.

Ye An randomly stored the card and jewelry away in a cabinet.

She turned around and took the robe out of his hands, saying, “I’ve been thinking; the weather starting from tomorrow will be getting hot. I’ll get some lighter clothes for you… I’ll put the clothes you want to wear over to the side. If it’s still unclear, just ask me tomorrow morning. ”

Xie Shuo listened to her rambling and withdrew his hand.

After taking a shower, Ye An laid down in bed and turned over, not thinking anything of it. She suddenly moved closer to his pillow and sighed.

Xie Shuo frowned out of habit. “What are you doing?”

Ye An smiled, “Having pillow talk!”

    Xie Shuo, “…”

Ye An blew again and neared him to say, “Hubby, I start recording tomorrow. I may have to leave early and return late in the future.”

Xie Shuo closed his eyes indifferently as if these matters had nothing to do with him.

Ye An reached out to poke him. “So, could you accompany me on a walk tomorrow? It doesn’t have to take too long, just half an hour–no, an hour!”

    Xie Shuo still didn’t respond.

“Are you wanting to ask about what my starting recording has to do with you accompanying me on a walk? They’re both linked together!” Ye An started to properly explain to him, “We haven’t been married for very long. Grandpa and Father probably won’t approve of me leaving early and returning late for work every day. They wish for you to be happy and to go out more. If you go on a walk with me tomorrow, they will be pleased and might yield.”

One of the reasons why Xie Baiyan was so eager to let Ye An marry Xie Shuo was to find someone to take care of him. Although it was not clearly stated, Ye An knew the situation. This was the reason why she had returned so urgently after running her errands.

“Help me with this favor, okay?”

After waiting a while and hearing no response, Ye An twirled a lock of hair on her finger and called out in a tender voice, “Okay?”

Xie Shuo’s eyelashes trembled, and his cold voice suddenly sounded, “If you’re not going to sleep, then leave.”

    Ye An, “…”

    He really had no heart.

Seeing his stony expression, Ye An was angry enough to smash him with the pillow and let him know what “pillow talk” really meant.

She pulled the covers angrily, turned over, and went to sleep.

        —

The next morning, Ye An read to Xie Shuo as usual.

She opened the book and said, “Today’s weather is really nice. Why don’t we go to the garden and read?”

Xie Shuo ignored her with a cold expression.

Ye An pulled his clothes. “It’s too stuffy in this room, and my heart and throat aren’t feeling well. We should go outside to breathe some fresh air.”

    Xie Shuo didn’t move.

Ye An closed the book and acted angry. “If you don’t go with me, then I’m not going to read.”

Xie Shuo raised his brows. He called out to the desk with no expression, “Xiao Xie.”

Xiao Xie” was an AI’s nickname, but no one knew who came up with it.

“Pick a book and start reading from the beginning.”

     “Yes, sir.”

The AI quickly selected a book. Ye An was almost angered to the point of having an aneurysm. She cut it off loudly, “Stop reading!”

    The AI stopped.

Xie Shuo turned a deaf ear and said apathetically, “Continue.”

    Ye An, “Quiet!”

    AI, “…”

    The innocent have been wronged.

    Life is so hard…

Ye An was truly angry this time. She had never seen this type of man, who remained unmoved by force or persuasion. Wanting him to go outside was treated like wanting him dead.

Xie Shuo kept his cold face.

They were at a stalemate until a knock sounded from the outside of the room.

Ye An, worried that it was Grandfather Xie, quickly calmed down and opened the door, smiling.

The door opened to reveal Aunt Zhou.

Aunt Zhou smiled at Ye An and looked inside. She said, “A friend of the Eldest Young Master has arrived and said they’re here for a visit.”

Upon hearing this, Xie Shuo’s expression eased, and he walked out.

Ye An exited the study alongside him and walked to the living room to see a young man dressed in a maroon dress shirt. He had peach blossom eyes and handsome facial features, an appearance that girls tended to fall for.

The man had a leisurely posture and sized up the approaching Ye An. His lips were curved but not quite in a smile, and he exhibited a distinguished yet casual temperament.

“Xie Shuo, how rude. You got married without notifying anyone?”

“Why are you here?” Xie Shuo sat next to him.

“Hasn’t it been a while since we met? I’m going to go abroad for a while within the next two days and wanted to come to see you first.”

The man looked over at Ye An. “No introduction?”

Xie Shuo paused and said two words, “Ye An.”

The man looked at Ye An and grinned. “Hello Di mei. I’m Jiang Shiyan, Xie Shuo’s college classmate.”

    – Di mei, used to refer to a younger brother’s wife or sister-in-law

Ye An smiled softly and nodded. “Hello.”

Jiang Shiyan’s smile widened. “If I knew that Di mei was going to be at home, then I would have brought a housewarming gift.”

This person was cut from a completely different cloth than Xie Shuo. Ye An was still dissatisfied with their previous argument. Seeing that the two’s relationship seemed pretty good, she didn’t stay too long and instead stood up to leave. “You guys catch up; I’ll cut up some fruit and bring it over.”

The girl’s voice was as gentle as spring water.

Jiang Shiyan’s gaze landed on her leaving figure.

Her eyes sparkled; her figure was graceful, and her hair was skillfully pulled to one side.

“What a beautiful wife, Xie Shuo. Your luck isn’t bad.”

Jiang Shiyan had always appreciated beautiful people. If he complimented someone, then it was probably true. He suddenly whispered in Xie Shuo’s ear, “I’m pretty attractive and have a good personality; how about we give it a try?”

His expression didn’t change, and he didn’t comment.

“How have you been lately?” After those teasing phrases, Jiang Shiyan finally became a bit more serious.

Xie Shuo replied nonchalantly, “The same.”

Jiang Shiyan looked into his dark eyes and thought of Xie Shuo’s past self. His heart grew a bit uncomfortable. “If you need anything, just tell me.”

“I don’t need anything right now, thanks.”

“That car accident… you’ve never investigated it?” Jiang Shiyan suddenly asked.

Xie Shuo knitted his eyebrows. “Someone did investigate but didn’t find anything.”

Could it really have been an accident?

A trace of doubt flashed through Jiang Shiyan’s eyes. He twiddled his thumbs as he thought. Not long after, he said, “Don’t just stay at home all day long. If you have time, go out with others more. I haven’t seen you at any events in a year already.”

Xie Shuo remembered his argument with Ye An just a moment ago and didn’t answer.

After a few seconds of silence, he changed the topic, “What are you going abroad for?”

Jiang Shiyan leaned back with an exhausted expression. “Something went wrong with the overseas market. I need to go over and deal with it…”

        —

Jiang Shiyan left before long. Xie Shuo escorted him downstairs but didn’t walk out the door.

With Jiang Shiyan’s abrupt visit, the deadlock between Ye An and Xie Shuo had eased up somewhat, and things returned to normal.

Ye An didn’t bother with the past anymore and pulled on his arm. She pestered him, “You’ve already come down; why not go outside for a little bit?”

Who would have known that Xie Shuo would remain so stubborn? He pushed her arm away without the slightest bit of hesitation and turned away to walk back.

    Ye An, “…”

Ye An’s anger that had just dissipated returned with full force. She almost couldn’t resist knocking him out.

Xie Shuo went upstairs, but instead of returning to the study, he entered the bedroom.

Ye An was about to follow when she suddenly received a call from Ye Yuan Nian.

He first asked about her married life in a fatherly manner before asking her when she would be able to return home with Xie Shuo to have dinner.

Ye An had no one to vent her frustrations to. He wasn’t even willing to walk out the door, let alone be willing to return to the Ye residence for dinner. How preposterous.

She didn’t have the heart to hurt Ye Yuan Nian’s sensitive middle-aged feelings. She commented perfunctorily, “It depends on when Xie Shuo is free. I’ll ask him later.”

On the other end, Ye Yuan Nian suddenly asked, “An An, are you mad at Daddy?”

Ye An’s scalp numbed, and she could feel the lengthy speech coming. “No, I’m living very well. Don’t overthink things–He’s calling me; I’ll hang up for now. Talk to you later.”

Without waiting for Ye Yuan Nian’s response, she hung up with lightning speed.

The daylight gradually rose and shone into the balcony. She grasped the phone and stood in awe for a few moments before turning around to enter the bedroom.

Just after entering, she was met with the sight of Xie Shuo sitting on the sofa with a lifeless appearance. Her heart immediately felt stuffy.

“Are you coming outside or not?” she asked.

Xie Shuo remained apathetic, ignoring her.

Ye An couldn’t stand it anymore. “Are you planning to stay locked up inside for the rest of your life? I know that it must be hard for you not to be able to see, but you stay in your room every day without caring or asking about anything. Do you think that doing this will fix the problem?”

This was the first time that Ye An had directly mentioned Xia Shuo’s blindness. She had avoided the topic in the past and even filtered her speech accordingly in fear of hurting his feelings.

However, for these issues, stubbornly avoiding them was simply not a solution.

A wound could only be healed if treated from the source.

“Grandpa is old, sickly, and even has to worry about you every day. Can’t you pull yourself together? The field of medicine is advancing every day; what if you can be cured one day?”

Xie Shuo’s expression became uglier and uglier. His slender fingers curled together, exposing the blue veins on the back of his hand.

He clenched his jaw but finally decided to not remain silent. “I remember that we had an agreement before the wedding that mentioned not interfering with each other’s matters.”

    This phrase again.

He couldn’t remember anything else aside from this statement.

Ye An snorted. “Really? Have I said this before? When was this? Is there a recording? Was the agreement signed on pen and paper?”

    Xie Shuo’s expression darkened.

Ye An looked at him and crossed her arms. She decided to act her scoundrel part to the end. “I take it back, so what if I said it? Can’t I go back on my word?”

In the past few years, Xie Shuo had dealt with every type of person in the business world, but he had never met anyone as self-confident and roguish as her.

He once again went into his silent mode with a sullen face.

“I’ll ask one last time–are you coming outside with me or not?” Ye An raised her voice.

Xie Shuo still did not answer.

It seems like she had to rely on her last resort.

Ye An suddenly stepped forward and sat directly in his lap.

Xie Shuo didn’t even have time to react before a feminine fragrance appeared before him, and a soft body fell into his arms.

Ye An lifted her arm and hooked the back of his head. She leaned forward, and her red lips neared his

    “Are you going or not?”

Author’s note: Xiao Ye: If you don’t go, I’ll kiss you!

    Xiao Xie: …

Xiao Ye’s aura was super impressive^_^

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 14

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 14

The next day, Ye An awoke in Xie Shuo’s embrace.

The man’s scent was refreshing like the warm spring sun, giving her a reassuring feeling. She opened her eyes and stared at him dazedly but weakly closed her eyes once again.

Her mind was muddled as she subconsciously used him as a body pillow, rubbing against him occasionally.

Xie Shuo was “awoken” by her in this way.

In the next second, her arm was mercilessly removed.

Ye An was now completely awake. After experiencing this before, she no longer rolled to the other side of the bed after falling asleep. She sat up calmly.

He was her husband anyway; it wasn’t illegal to hug her husband.

“Morning.” She felt around for the remote control on the nightstand and opened the French window curtains.

The morning sun seeped into the room, bright and crisp.

Ye An stretched and faced the sun rays. Her fair skin was bathed in the light, giving off a translucent glow. Thinking of her newly constructed plan, she suggested to Xie Shuo, “The weather is so nice today; how about we go sit in the garden for a bit? I’ll read to you.”

As always, Xie Shuo didn’t give much of a reaction. He fumbled his way out of bed and went to the bathroom.

Ye An didn’t expect to succeed in one try, so she got out of bed to get dressed.

        —

The two woke up relatively late today. After eating breakfast, it was already nearing noon.

Ye An took out her notes from last night. Just as she was about to implement step one in her plan, Grandfather Xie suddenly fell ill.

At this age, the elderly were extremely prone to illnesses. The housekeeper hurriedly called the private doctor over, and Ye An busily followed them. It was only until late afternoon that she could finally take a minute to breathe.

Who would have thought that just as she sat down, Xiang Quan would call to notify her that the schedule for “Pharmacist” had accelerated? This meant  that they needed to have a meeting to determine all the tasks and procedures.

Ye An, dazed, had no choice but to put aside Xie Shuo’s affairs for now and hurry to the studio.

The others had arrived earlier than her and started experimenting with their dubbing voices. She was the protagonist, so there was no need to test her voice. However, she was still required to attend the meeting.

There were too many things to handle, and the meeting lasted late into the night.

During the break, everyone circled around to eat their takeout. They entertained themselves with fervent gossip. Ye An observed the scene and felt that it was somewhat surreal. On one hand, she lived a luxurious life in a rich and powerful family, but on the other hand, she lived a normal life working overtime. The contrast was too large.

“Boss, didn’t you say that Brilliant Dreams backed out and never finished discussing the contract? Why did they agree to it again?” someone suddenly asked.

“It’s definitely because our boss is so powerful!” someone else immediately followed with a flattering compliment.

Xiang Quan didn’t speak and merely shot a complicated glance at Ye An.

“How come I heard that it was because of An An jiejie?” a young lady from the PR team spoke up.

Hearing her name suddenly being mentioned, Ye An subconsciously looked over to Shi Shuangshuang.

With a guilty conscience, Shi Shuangshuang quickly leaned in and whispered, “It wasn’t me; I didn’t carelessly tell anyone.”

    “Really?” the other person responded.

Ye An smiled faintly. “If you recklessly stole the Boss’s credit, aren’t you afraid of getting your wages deducted?”

Thinking of Xiang Quan’s stingy character, everyone felt a trace of fear. One after another, they began to apologize, saying, “I was wrong; I shouldn’t have said anything.” They laughed nervously and switched the topic.

At eight thirty, the meeting ended.

Shi Shuangshuang needed to sort out some computer files and asked Ye An to wait a few minutes. Ye An first went to the bathroom to relieve her bladder.

Just as she approached the door to the women’s restroom, the noises of water splashing and whispers of two girls sounded.

“Hey, is it true that Ye An really used her connections?”

“It probably is. I heard that the president of Brilliant Dreams regarded her with those intentions. If nothing happened, then how could Brilliant Dreams suddenly agree to sign the contract? Or appoint her as the female lead?”

“Who would have expected her to agree…?”

“What’s so weird about that? With her circumstances, isn’t it normal for her to get a strong backer to strive towards the top? Brilliant Dreams has movies, television and is even backed by the Xie family. Maybe she will even go directly into the entertainment industry one day…”

“Shh, keep it quiet! Let’s not talk about this here

Just as they spoke, the two girls turned around and ran directly into Ye An.

    “……”

The two froze with mottled complexions.

Ye An’s gaze was cool. “How come I’ve never heard of this news?”

The two girls frantically looked at each other, their faces pale.

To be honest, Ye An didn’t know them that well. They seemed to be the new interns that Xiang Quan hired, but she couldn’t even recall their names.

Normally, aside from recording, she rarely interacted with others in the workplace.

“Who started this piece of gossip?” Ye An asked.

After a few seconds of silence, one of the girls with a ponytail stammered, “I… I heard it from an anonymous livestream…”

Ye An furrowed her eyebrows. If they were anonymous, it would be difficult to investigate.

Who was it that wanted to ruin her reputation?

Ye An looked up and noticed their pale faces. “You don’t know how to apologize?”

“Sorry,” the two apologized and then fled with bowed heads.

Ye An didn’t bother with them and directly entered the restroom. Even if she wanted to pursue these kinds of gossip matters, she couldn’t.

        —

Next to the restroom, there was a small smoking room. After using the restroom, Ye An suddenly ran into Xiang Quan.

He leaned against the doorway of the small room with a cigarette between his fingers. The man was enveloped in a cloud of smoke, appearing anxious and turmoiled.

Ye An thought that it was weird but greeted him nonetheless. Just as she prepared to leave, Xiang Quan stopped her.

“I need to talk to you about a few matters; it’ll only take a few minutes.”

His expression was grave and looked as if something big had happened.  It made Ye An’s heart tremble.

“What happened?” Ye An walked closer and asked.

Xiang Quan put the cigarette behind him and said, “Brilliant Dreams said they wanted to collaborate with us long-term…”

Ye An was puzzled. Wasn’t this a good thing; why did he look so miserable?

Xiang Quan looked at her with a complicated gaze. He hesitated before suddenly asking, “Be honest… did you accept Lu Hong’s offer?”

    Ye An, “…”

    Ye An was convinced.

If he even thought that, then it wasn’t difficult for others to believe this gossip.

Xiang Quan had been in the voice acting circle for many years and was considered a veteran by many. Ye An knew him since she was in college. Although he was a bit stingy and liked to nag a lot, his character wasn’t bad. He wasn’t belittling towards his employees and took good care of them. Rumors said that his ex-girlfriend cheated on him because he was poor, and because of that, he began to work hard and earn as much money as possible.

Back then, one of the reasons why Ye An signed to his studio was because he had a pleasant personality and would not restrain her freedom. Hearing what he said, Ye An was speechless. She asked quietly, “When did you also start to gossip so much?”

She flipped her hair and raised her chin. With a noble expression, she said, “Brilliant Dreams agreed to cooperate with us because of my own abilities. It has nothing to do with Lu Hong. He isn’t even worthy of my gaze.”

After hearing these words, Xiang Quan was relieved. Just as he was about to speak, she suddenly spoke again, “Thinking too much will make you age faster. Pay more attention to your hairline.”

    Xiang Quan, “…”

“If there are no other matters, then I’ll be going home. Bye bye~”

After Ye An was finished speaking, she turned and walked away with her head high.

Xiang Quan was speechless for a while. When he recovered, he couldn’t help but worriedly check his hairline.

        —

“Are you going home right now? Or are you going to go out?” Shi Shuangshuang asked after leaving the office.

In the curtain of the night, the lights flickered. Ye An looked at her phone, answering, “No, I’m going home.”

Shi Shuangshuang shook her head and sighed sorrowfully. “I’ve realized that after getting married, you’ve become like a 50’s housewife. You rarely leave the house, and the one time you do, you’re so eager to get home early.”

Ye An looked with a bashful smile. “I miss my dear husband.”

Shi Shuangshuang rubbed the goosebumps on her arms and asked again, “There’s a newly opened dessert shop in front. Do you want to go in and try it out?”

Ye An surveyed her up and down. “How come I remember you swearing to lose weight a while ago?”

Shi Shuangshuang maintained her confidence and self-righteousness. “Weight loss is a step by step process: diet five days and rest one. I already counted on my fingers, and I’ve been dieting for the past five days.”

    Ye An, “…”

    Sure, whatever makes you happy.

In the end, Ye An was still dragged by Shi Shuangshuang to get a cup of milk tea.

The beverage’s flavor from the newly opened store wasn’t bad. Ye An sipped her drink with a straw, her long eyelashes fluttering softly.

Shi Shuangshuang looked at her, suddenly saying, “You display excessive amounts of PDA in front of me every day. It’s so late at night, how come your dear husband hasn’t come to pick you up?”

Ye An looked up. “He’s busy, so he sent the chauffeur over. He should be here soon.”

The last time she went out, Ye An found it too inconvenient and flagged down a taxi by herself to go home. Grandfather Xie felt that it was unsafe for her to be alone and told her to call the chauffeur for rides in the future.

To be honest, even though Xie Shuo had a bad temper, Grandfather Xie and Xie Baiyan treated her very well.

As they spoke, a Maybach stopped on the side of the road.

“Look, it’s right in front of us.” Ye An directed with her gaze before walking over.

The tall chauffeur exited the car and opened the door for her. He called respectfully, “Madam.”

    Shi Shuangshuang stared blankly.

Ye An turned her head to ask, “Are you going home now? Do you want a ride?”

Shi Shuangshuang suppressed the excitement in her heart and nodded.

Wuwuwu… this was the closest she would get to the rich and powerful!

After getting in the car, Shi Shuangshuang’s heart continued to pound for a while. Suddenly thinking of something, she moved closer to Ye An’s ear and whispered, “Oh right, I think they suspect that you relied on Lu Hong to sign “Pharmacist” back successfully. Do you want to disclose the identity of your husband to dispel the rumors?”

Ye An thought back to the gossip she heard in the restroom. Her expression was mild as she said lightly, “Let’s talk later.”

        —

After returning home, Ye An inquired the housekeeper about Grandfather Xie’s condition. He was already resting, so she didn’t disturb him any further.

As she was about to ascend the stairs, the housekeeper suddenly handed her a package and said it was for Xie Shuo.

Ye An took it and looked at it. It was from abroad, but the name of the sender was fuzzy, making it hard to read.

She took the package upstairs and entered the bedroom to see Xie Shuo feeling his way around the closet, seemingly preparing to shower.

“Someone sent you a package.” Ye An went over to speak.

Xie Shuo’s actions paused and asked nonchalantly, “From who?”

“I don’t know; do you want me to open it?”

Xie Shuo answered with a light, “En.”

Ye An found a small knife and opened the package directly.

Inside, there was an exquisitely packaged gift box wrapped in a lavender bow. There was clearly quite a bit of effort spent.

There was an unsealed light blue envelope inserted vertically on top.

Inside the envelope, there was a greeting card with fragrant dried flowers.

Ye An took the card out and opened it.

Gracefully handwritten words of blessing for a pair of newlyweds appeared before her eyes.

    The name was signed: Muqing.

Ye An looked up and curiously asked, “Who’s Muqing?”

Author’s Note: Xiao Xie’s answer will determine whether or not he will be able to sleep tonight.

PS: the blindness will go away, the wife will be obtained, but having a child…is uncertain for now~

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 13

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 13

A surge of blood instantly rushed to his head, ridding his mind of any thoughts.

Ye An’s eyes widened, and she stared blankly at her chest… and the large palm on it.

Since Xie Shuo couldn’t see, she had been living comfortably and at ease. After marriage, she had been wearing spaghetti strap nightgowns with low necklines. Hence, when Xie Shuo reached out, he nearly touched bare skin.

There was a deathly stillness in the room, and the atmosphere stagnated.

She really couldn’t raise her hand against a blind person.

But she didn’t want to end things like this.

In the end, she picked up a pillow and randomly threw it at him.

Xie Shuo was hit head-on. He caught the pillow, his expression sinking.

It’d be fine if he just touched it, but did he have to grope it?

You treated it like dough, even kneading it!

Due to his own guilt, Xie Shuo didn’t respond. He pursed his lips coldly, saying, “Let’s sleep. I’ll call Zhong Fu tomorrow and let him help you.”

He placed the pillow on the side and shifted his body to lie down.

Ye An stared blankly. Zhong Fu?

If she remembered correctly, that seemed to be his assistant?

After coming out of her daze, Ye An calmed down and asked unsurely, “You’re… really helping me?”

Xie Shuo’s back faced her, and there was no response.

It was just touching her chest. They were married anyway, it was no big deal.

        —

    The next day.

Ye An remembered the matter of hanging up the night before. After eating breakfast, she impatiently faced Xie Shuo and asked him attentively, “You didn’t forget what you promised me last night, right?”

Xie Shuo recited a phone number to her. “This is Zhong Fu’s number; call him.”

Ye An hurriedly grabbed her phone and dialed the number.

    “Hello.”

    “Zhong Fu, it’s me.”

Hearing Xie Shuo’s voice, Zhong Fu was a bit startled. It had been a while since he had called.

    “President Xie.”

Xie Shuo replied, “This is my wife’s phone. She has some matters that need your help.”

The word “wife” coming from his mouth shocked her. Ye An looked at his cold side profile highlighted by the soft morning light, and her heart skipped a beat.

She couldn’t help but think that this version of him made him seem like a domineering president in a drama, and it made her heart beat faster!

Ye An’s heart raced without control.

Which girl wouldn’t love to be the original Mary Sue and be loved by a handsome and overbearing president?

As she was daydreaming, Xie Shuo turned his head. “Whatever you want to do, just let him know.”

His indifferent voice sobered her: this is a man with no emotions. You must not think about it, no way!

She took her phone back and started discussing the issue with Zhong Fu.

Zhong Fu was incredibly quick. At around five in the evening, Ye An received Xiang Quan’s text saying that the anime was signed to them and that Ye An had the lead role.

Xiang Quan didn’t know the cause for such a turn of events, but he was excited. “You don’t need to rehearse with your current script anymore. Yi Miao’s voice has gotten better in the last few days, so just give it to her. Prepare for the anime.”

    Ye An smiled and agreed.

Soon after, Shi Shuangshuang sent a text over.

    Shi Shuangshuang: [!!!]

Shi Shuangshuang: [I just got the news that the contract for “Pharmacist” had been signed. Was this your husband’s work?]

Ye An: [What do you think?]

    Ye An: [smirking.jpg]

Shi Shuangshuang: [Her majesty is mighty!]

    Shi Shuangshuang: [kneeling.jpg]

Shi Shuangshuang: [Who is your husband anyway? He’s so powerful.]

    Shi Shuangshuang: [curious.jpg]

Ye An glanced at the man quietly sitting not far away. She smiled and replied: [Didn’t I already say that he’s a rich and powerful Eldest Young Master?]

Shi Shuangshuang: [Oh! I suddenly just thought of a several thousand word script! Rich and powerful Eldest Young Master pampers his wife everyday!]

Shi Shuangshuang: [OMG! Should she run away after? And him chasing after her?]

    Ye An: […]

Why are you so strongly attached to the idea of running away?

     —

That night, Ye An was in an especially good mood. Just seeing Xie Shuo made her aura brighter.

She turned on the hot water for his bath and even added calming essential oils.

Xie Shuo listened to her busy movement with no emotion.

“Go take a shower; it’ll make it easier to fall asleep at night.” A fragrance came from the bathroom. Her voice was soft. “I’ll be just outside. If you need any help, just call me.”

The man still remained silent with a bleak expression.

Ye An didn’t get angry. She glanced at him once more before leaving the bathroom.

After exiting the bathroom, Ye An took out a pen and notebook. She sat on the sofa and refined her short-term plan.

What Grandfather had said was right; she really needed to think of an idea to help Xie Shuo relax. His mentality right now was too pessimistic.

Moreover, the Xie family had never given up on finding a medical team that could treat his eyes. The chances were slim, but having hope would increase the odds.

She had already married him, so she should make plans for his future. Otherwise, if Xie Baiyan lost his power one day, the Xie family would fall into someone else’s hands, and her fate wouldn’t be good.

If she applied for divorce, then she not only would get little money–but she would also be criticized by others for her cruel actions.

    Then it’d be her loss!

After thinking things through, Ye An scratched her head. Redirecting her train of thought, she began writing down her plans.

Step 1: No matter the method, coax him out the house.

Step 2: help him adjust his mentality and give him hope for a recovery.

    Step 3: …

In the dead of night, the moon shone gently outside the window and blended with the light inside the room. The melding of layers created a dreamlike atmosphere.

The woman sat cross-legged with her head drooping. Her expression was very focused; her long eyelashes reflected a radiant shine.

In the tranquil room, the sound of pen against paper was clear.

After a while, a noise sounded from behind her.

Xie Shuo exited the bathroom and felt that the room was much calmer than usual… as if he had returned to when he lived alone before marriage.

Over the past few days, Ye An had been very rambunctious. He originally found it noisy but later became accustomed to it.

While preoccupied, he unexpectedly slammed into the bedside table and almost fell.

Ye An looked up at the noise, hurriedly dropping her pen and running over. “Are you okay?”

Xie Shu brushed her outstretched hand away and sat on the bed without saying a word. His expression was gloomy.

Ye An saw his reaction and felt that there was still a long way to go. She silently sighed and turned, grabbing her clothes to shower.

Xie Shuo sat quietly on the bed with his eyes open.

The sound of water from the bathroom, wind from outside the window, and the leaves swaying in the wind… The slightest of noises were so clear, yet he could only see endless planes of darkness.

There was no difference between day and night.

The bruise on his leg ached, reminding him of his current embarrassment.

After some time, the water stopped, and the sound of footsteps returned to the bedroom.

Xie Shuo knitted his brows. “What are you doing?”

Ye An took the medicinal oil and knelt down at his side. She looked up to see his cold expression and couldn’t help but be amused.

As a grown man, why did he always act as if he was being taken advantage of?

With evil intentions, she extended her index and middle finger to climb up his leg with her fingertips. She leaned towards him, her voice soft and charming.

“Hubby, the night is so nice tonight. How about we… do something?”

A faint fragrance wafted over, and locks of hair fell on his legs. His face was dark as he suddenly asked, “Did it not get done?”

Ye An froze. When she realized what he was referring to, she laughed and replied, “Everything’s done. Brilliant Dreams has already arranged a time to sign the contract with us.”

Xie Shuo replied, stony-faced, “Since it’s done, calm down.”

As he spoke, he moved his leg, preparing to lie down.

    Ye An: “???”

Ye An found it hard to breathe–why was this man so boring!

Remembering that he had helped her resolve one of her major issues, Ye An restrained her anger and yanked his leg.

Just as Xie Shuo wanted to withdraw, he was suddenly trapped by her. “Don’t move!”

“Your legs are covered in bruises, yet you don’t let anyone help you treat them,” Ye An scolded him as she poured the medicinal oil on his leg and rubbed it in.

Xie Shuo was at a loss for words and didn’t move for a long time.

“Is the pressure alright?” Ye An looked up and asked after massaging for a bit.

If Xie Shuo wasn’t blind, he would have seen her shining eyes.

“If it hurts, try to ignore it for a bit.”

Without waiting for a reply, Ye An continued to rub it in. Her long hair fell from her shoulders, contrasting her fair cheeks.

The medicinal oil scent gradually dissipated, and the injured areas slowly heated up, spreading throughout his limbs.

The light fell on his face with some trace of warmth. Xie Shuo’s gaze was downcast, and his eyelashes trembled.

Wasn’t it only the dubbing portion for an anime? Was it necessary to have this level of dedication?

Breathing lightly in the darkness, he suddenly thought of the partnerships about  wives who would satisfy their lovers in the past. They would buy new bags, hair accessories, and flights around the world practically every day.

However, after their marriage, she hadn’t even left the house more than twice.

This woman was too easy to satisfy.

        ……

“Okay, I’ll give you a massage again tomorrow. The bruises should disappear before long.”

A while passed before Ye An got up and adjusted her robe. She grabbed the medicinal oil while leaving the bed and went to the bathroom to wash her hands.

Xie Shuo sat silent on the bed from beginning to end.

Around midnight, Ye An was sleepy enough to the point where her eyelids drooped. After lying down, she fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.

Whether it be the bath’s doing or her influence, Xie Shuo–who rarely had a good night’s sleep, quickly became drowsy.

Just as he was about to fall asleep, a rustling sound came from beside him. A soft body pressed against him.

Ye An slept soundly. She cuddled him intimately with her arm on his chest.

Xie Shuo was awoken and subconsciously lifted his hand, intending to push her away; he suddenly thought about the embarrassing scenes from the other night.

He paused and hesitated for a moment before finally putting his hand down and letting her go.

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 12

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 12

    Inside the bedroom—

After Ye An finished reading the last two phrases, she drank a sip of water. She couldn’t help but complain under her breath, “What kind of melodramatic dialogue is this?”

She adjusted her headphones and clicked the replay button. Just as she was trying to listen for any mistakes, the secondary door was suddenly opened.

The movement was quite loud. When Ye An heard the sound, she turned to see Xie Shuo standing in the doorway with an ugly expression, like he had caught an adulterous act.

In the earphones, the phrases she had just dubbed replayed–

“The child in my stomach isn’t yours and has no relation to you; don’t come to find me anymore!”

    Ye An: “………………..”

    …That’s awkward.

    The atmosphere froze.

Ye An stared blankly at the dark expression on the man. It felt as if her head had been struck by thunder, leaving her insides scorched.

She opened her mouth with difficulty.

“You both… have finished discussing things?”

        ……

The sound of a needle dropping could be heard in the silent room.

Xie Shuo stood without saying a word, his expression gloomy. His body emitted a cold air as if he was truly being cheated on.

It took a long time to recover from the embarrassment. She forced herself to explain, “I’m dubbing, that phrase was from the script…”

Xie Shuo was expressionless. He stood silently for a while before turning to leave the room.

The pressure in the room instantly dropped, and Ye An let out a long breath. She sent the freshly recorded audio to the public relations team then sent a screenshot of the script to Shi Shuangshuang.

    Ye An: [screenshot]

Ye An: [What kind of dirty dialogue did you write?!!!]

Ye An: [Could you make it any more melodramatic?!!]

One could feel the anger emanating from the texts even through the screen.

    Shi Shuangshuang: [???]

Shi Shuangshuang: [This is from the dialogue of the novel. What does it have to do with me?]

Shi Shuangshuang: [This is called respecting the author’s work!!!]

Ye An:…Why did I agree to Xiang Quan’s request to accept this project?

Shi Shuangshuang: [Hmph, it was just because the “Rich and Powerful Lovable Wife” got popular because of the running away plotline. What’s the big deal?]

Shi Shuangshuang: [How about you go and research some more and have a baby with your rich, powerful husband. Run away afterwards and make him coax you back.]

    Ye An: […]

Having a baby with Xie Shuo and running away?

Ye An imagined the situation and couldn’t help but shiver. Was she insane?

        —–

When Xie Shuo left the bedroom, he hid away in the study and even locked the door.

Just a few days ago, he never locked the door, no matter how moody he was. Ye An was a little worried. After finishing work matters, she brought a bowl of soup and knocked on the door.

There was no response whatsoever, not even the usual phrase of “no thanks.”

“I’m not trying to disturb you. I’m just trying to give you some soup; I’ll leave after,” Ye An spoke sincerely.

She waited for a while, but there was no response.

The room was shut tightly, separating their two worlds.

Outside the windows, dark clouds concealed the sun. The trees shook violently, signaling the change in weather.

“Xie Shuo?” She knocked on the door.

    There was no response.

Ye An, frustrated, waited for a while before finally leaving the soup outside the door.

    At night, it rained heavily.

Grandfather came back and saw Ye An sitting alone downstairs. He asked, “Where’s A’Shuo?”

Dinner was already served on the dining table. Ye An felt somewhat remorseful as she smiled, saying, “In the study, I’ll go get him.”

She went upstairs and faced the office door. Just as she was worried about what to do, the door suddenly opened.

Xie Shuo finally came out. However, his face was pale, and he seemed more hostile than usual.

“Are you okay? Grandpa just returned and asked me to come and get you, so we could eat dinner downstairs.”

Seeing that the Young Master was in a bad mood, Ye An didn’t dare tease him like usual and spoke softly instead.

Xie Shuo pursed his lips and walked woodenly forward, ignoring her words. Ye An followed quietly behind him, even making sure her breathing was as light as possible.

    The meal was extremely stifling.

Ye An kept her gaze down and counted the rice grains in her bowl.

Grandfather noticed something was wrong and coughed lightly. He asked Xie Shuo, “Did Xiao Ran come by earlier in the afternoon?”

Xie Shuo placed his chopsticks down and lightly replied with an “En.”

Grandfather wanted to say something but hesitated. He paused for a moment before speaking, “He’s too inexperienced; watch out for him. ”

Xie Shuo looked down and said, “He’s going to do well; you don’t need to worry.”

Even though his response was short, Ye An was scared witless.

Was Grandfather implying that he wanted Xie Yuran to replace Xie Shuo?

What about Xie Baiyan? Did he agree to this?

As she was speculating, Grandfather suddenly said, “In the past few days, I contacted a renowned medical professor and made an appointment for you to have an examination.”

For the past five months, they had contacted both domestic and international experts, but they were only disappointed time and time again. Xie Shuo had lost any feelings on the matter long ago, so he replied calmly and left the dining table.

Grandfather looked at him leaving and sighed. He once again sought Ye An’s help, “An An, if you’re ever free, go comfort him and take him out on a walk.”

Ye An smiled gently but was inwardly exhausted: I’ve already tried my best.

To be honest, she could understand Xie Shuo’s current mentality. After experiencing the highest of highs, how could one stand the lowest of lows?

Moreover, Xie Shuo was a prideful person.

        ——

The rainfall continued into the night.

The sound of water could be heard from the bathroom.

Ye An closed the curtains halfway and then leaned against the window to check her phone for any messages.

Xiang Quan had sent a message in the work group chat to her and the other actors. Tomorrow, they would go to the studio and immediately start scouting new radio dramas.

Shi Shuangshuang sent a private DM asking her: [Didn’t you say that you were going to seduce your husband last night and get the “Pharmacist” project? What happened?]

Since she had already uttered the lie, there was no point of return.

Ye An calmly replied with a straight face: [Mission’s in progress, almost there.]

Shi Shuangshuang had faith in her visuals and didn’t suspect anything. She replied with a waiting emoji and an excited voice message soon after, “There’ll be an online karaoke party with many of the industry’s gods. Do you want to come?”

Ye An sent a voice message to reply, “No thanks, I have to seduce my husband.”

As soon as the message was sent, footsteps sounded. Ye An looked up to see Xie Shuo exiting the bathroom.

He wore a black robe with a belt tied loosely around his waist. The open collar revealed a portion of his clavicles. His expression was grave, and the ends of his hair dripped with water.

He faced her, his expression seemingly saying: Oh? How are you going to seduce me?

    Ye An, “…”

She was never going to send voice messages again.

There were too many surprising twists today, so Ye An had already learned to face them calmly. She turned her phone off. Pretending that nothing had happened, she walked past Xie Shuo and entered the bathroom.

After taking a shower, Ye An sat on the bed and looked at the man who had laid down beside her. Thinking of the day’s events, she dug under the covers and crawled over to his side. She poked him. “Hey, why were you unhappy today? Want to talk about it?”

Xie Shuo didn’t react and didn’t even bother to open his eyes.

Ye An propped her chin up and whispered into his ear, “Let’s talk~”

A warm breath brushed past his neck and made it itch. Xie Shuo, disturbed, frowned and finally opened his eyes.

“Are you sleeping or not?” His tone was cold and reflected his impatience.

…He really was an emotionless machine. Teasing him like this wouldn’t work.

Ye An sat silent for a moment before answering, “I’m thinking of something, so I can’t sleep.”

Expecting Xie Shuo to take the initiative to ask “What’s wrong?” was too improbable, so she simply abandoned her plan and opened up directly.

“Remember when I mentioned Brilliant Dreams Culture in the afternoon? Their company recently came up with a really popular anime and came to our studio for the dub. The contract was discussed and everything, but there was a really evil person in charge, and he wanted sexual favors from me. I ignored him, and he changed his mind at the last moment. He refused to sign with us.”

Ye An paused and neared Xie Shuo’s ear to speak again.

    “Can you help me?”

She looked up to observe his reaction. Seeing that he didn’t respond, she gritted her teeth and clung to his arm.

    “Hubby…”

    Xie Shuo’s eyelashes trembled.

“Brilliant Dreams belongs to the Xie family. You can definitely help, right? It’s not that I really want the anime for myself; I just don’t want to see his disgusting face!”

    Xie Shuo still didn’t respond.

“It’s just a small request. It’ll be very easy for you to do.”

Ye An hugged him and ignored the chills in her heart. Her voice was as sweet as honey as she moved his arm back and forth.

    “I’m begging you…”

Two seconds later, her slender arm was removed, and the man’s curt voice sounded.

    “Sleep.”

        “……”

Could this dude even get better?

Ye An was angered to the point of almost becoming a pufferfish. She nearly kicked him off the bed.

Sensing that she was still clinging to his body, Xie Shuo distanced himself a little more and pushed her.

His outstretched hand happened to touch a soft, rounded area.

    “You–”

The voice stopped abruptly, and Ye An’s body froze.

With darkness enveloping his sight, Xie Shuo subconsciously moved his fingers, feeling the soft sensation under his hand.

    “…”

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 11

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 11

When Ye An arrived home, Xie Shuo still had not taken a shower. He sat alone in the room like how a devoted wife would wait for her husband.

Ye An had already put earlier events to the back of her mind. Seeing his expression, she asked with concern, “Do you want to take a shower? Do you want me to get your clothes?”

Xie Shuo didn’t speak and instead walked to the bathroom. Ye An gathered his pajamas as usual and followed him into the bathroom.

Thinking of the arduous mission she was carrying out tonight, she was in no hurry to leave after putting the clothes down. Instead, she stayed in her place, wondering how to seduce the person in front of her.

Xie Shuo began to unbutton his shirt and seemed to sense her lack of movement. He paused, asking, “Is there anything else?”

Ye An remembered about her mission to seduce him, and without thinking, she uttered, “Do you want me to help you shower?”

     “……”

Hearing those words, Xie Shuo instantly turned speechless. His expression was indescribable.

Ye An’s reaction to her words came afterward. She embarrassedly shut her mouth and pretended like she hadn’t said anything.

She shifted her gaze and just happened to face his half-naked torso, where a part of his chest and collarbones were visible.

Ye An blushed and hurriedly left.

Coming out of the bathroom, her face was still hot and her heartbeat was in disarray.

Stay calm! You want to seduce him, not let him seduce you!

        —-

A while later, Xie Shuo finally came out of the bathroom. Ye An had already polished her initial plan, and she confidently took a light nightgown into the bathroom.

When she finished showering, Xie Shuo had still not gotten into bed. Rather, he was in the closet, seemingly trying to find something.

Ye An tousled her freshly dried hair. She walked over, asking, “What are you looking for?”

Xie Shuo ignored her as he hung a shirt up and then headed to bed.

Ye An had long gotten used to his character and didn’t bother with his response. She walked to the floor-length mirror.

The clear mirror reflected a slender body with nice proportions.

Tonight, she had specially changed into a black nightgown with spaghetti straps. Her hair appeared very voluminous and was let down, brushing over her delicate shoulders. Her slender neck was set off by her exquisite facial features. The dazzling pale white contrasted against the unadulterated black, like flowers flourishing in darkness and appearing particularly enticing.

She really suited the image of a demon seductress.

Ye An tousled her hair and winked in the mirror.

She laid on the bed and leaned against the headboard, watching Xie Shuo.

Xie Shuo had also just come up and was about to lay down.

Seeing the man’s indifferent face, Ye An suddenly felt a bit apprehensive.

She took a deep breath to calm down and recalled the seduction scene from a television show. With one hand supporting her head, she lifted her nightdress, revealing her fair and slender thighs. Dragging out her words in a coquettish tone, she called, “Hubby…”

Practice makes perfect. This time calling “hubby” sounded a lot less evil than last time during the afternoon.

Xie Shuo turned to face her. His deep gaze held the same serenity as a pool of water, and there was no change in his expression.

    ……

Ye An:…Almost forgot that he was blind.

    What a waste of effort!

Ye An despondently came out of her exaggerated seductress position and withdrew her legs back under her skirt and into the covers.

It really wasn’t easy to seduce a blind man. It seemed that she could only use her personal specialty. Ye An pondered for a moment before shifting closer to Xie Shuo’s body. She whispered softly into his ear, “Hubby…”

Her tone was tender and ambiguous, as if she was implying something.

She used a slender hand to pull down the robe to reveal his chest.

In the vast darkness, Xie Shuo smelled the fragrance from her body wash and the faint scent of wine in her breath.

He frowned, asking without any fluctuation, “You’re drunk?”

    Ye An: “…”

Xie Shuo removed her hand; his expression was indifferent. “If you drank too much, then sleep early.”

    Ye An: “…”

Before she could make any more advances, Xie Shuo had already closed his eyes peacefully.

Ye An stared at him in disbelief. Her initially robust fighting spirit had been diminished in an instant. What kind of man had she married? Even machines would have more emotion than him, right?

After a moment, she turned around in frustration and turned off the light.

He was impossible to understand; it’d probably be easier to seduce a rock!

        —

Because she was affected by the events of the night, Ye An had a dream that night. In the dream, she continued to cling to Xie Shuo, and Xie Shuo kept rejecting her. The cycle repeated over again as if it was a movie replaying.

    ……

Throughout  the process, she only had one thought: so exhausting…

When Ye An woke up the next morning, she found herself lying near him on Xie Shuo’s side of the bed. She had one arm wrapped around his body.

The curtains hadn’t been opened yet, and the lighting inside the room was dim. She looked up to see his peaceful countenance and paused.

A strange feeling flooded her heart. Ye An held her breath, carefully moved her arm, and tried to pretend that nothing had happened, but at this moment, Xie Shuo suddenly woke up.

    Ye An stiffened.

In fact, their bed was spacious enough for the two of them. Her sleeping posture wasn’t particularly bad. For the last few nights, the two individuals had set clear boundaries and had made peace with each other. Unexpectedly, these boundaries were broken today.

And it was her who took initiative.

A faint trace of embarrassment arose in the peaceful atmosphere.

“Morning…” Ye An summoned her courage to speak, trying to ease the atmosphere.

However, as soon as she spoke, she was ruthlessly pushed away.

Xie Shuo frowned and got out of bed, seemingly regarding her with disdain.

    “…”

Ye An felt a tightness in her chest and wanted to curse at him.

I don’t judge you for being blind; what are you judging me for?

She looked down and scanned a certain part of him, suddenly wanting to ask: are you a heterosexual adult man; do you not have any needs in that respect?

Xie Shuo naturally couldn’t hear her slanderous thoughts and entered the bathroom.

Ye An wrapped the covers around her and sat on the bed for a while. She hit his pillow to vent her anger before getting out of bed.

        —-

Because of her unhappiness from the morning, Ye An ignored Xie Shuo for the afternoon. Instead, she focused on familiarizing herself with the new script Shi Shuangshuang had given her.

With the normally noisy person suddenly going quiet, Xie Shuo unexpectedly felt a bit unaccustomed to the situation. He couldn’t help but feel like she had gone out, but he kept hearing the repetitive sound of flipping pages.

He frowned, feeling an indescribable irritability building up in his chest.

Their grandfather had gone out in the morning to see friends, so it was only the two of them having lunch. Xie Shuo had barely  moved his chopsticks around before putting his bowl down and ascending the stairs.

Ye An ate with gusto. Seeing him leave, she became confused. What now? Were the dishes not to his liking?

She glanced at the dishes on the table. They all looked delicious and tasted even better. The dishes were cooked according to his preferences; there wasn’t anything done wrong!

With the Eldest Master’s temper, he was very hard to serve!

After internally ridiculing him, Ye An still asked Auntie Zhou to prepare another bowl of soup for him to prevent him from going hungry later.

        —–

After eating, Ye An went upstairs.

Xie Shuo sat on his beloved sofa as usual with a gloomy face. For those who were unaware, it’d be easy to assume that someone had offended him.

Ye An originally wanted to ignore him, but she relented after thinking about how she bragged to Shi Shuangshuang yesterday night.

Whatever. One should always know when to compromise.

“What’s wrong? Is your stomach all right?” she walked up to him and asked in a gentle tone.

Xie Shuo turned a deaf ear to her inquiries and had no reaction.

    Ye An was angered.

“Mr. Xie, it looks like I need to educate you on something.” She sat down next to him, looking up at him. “Emotional abuse is also a kind of domestic violence. We have only been married for a few days, and you’re already committing acts of domestic violence? Isn’t your behavior out of line?”

With such an outrageous accusation, Xie Shou finally stopped his silent treatment. He frowned, saying, “Did you forget about your own statements? After marriage, we won’t interfere with each other’s lives and won’t have any unrealistic delusions.”

        “……”

When speaking to him normally, he loved to ignore her. But when discussing these problems, he would always make it impossible to refute.

Why must he be so contentious?

Ye An was so angry that her liver hurt. She said, annoyed, “Even if we’re in a loveless marriage, it doesn’t mean you can be violent towards me!”“Besides, how does this count as having unrealistic delusions? I’m not asking you to pamper and love me. Shouldn’t we have some basic respect?”

Xie Shuo went silent again. His gaze was deep, and his lips were pursed.

Ye An observed his expression and saw signs of it relaxing. She struck while the iron was still hot, “I’ll ask you something else, and you can’t pretend to not hear me: Brilliant Dreams Culture, is it under the Xie family?”

Xie Shuo replied coldly, “Why are you asking about this?”

Ye An moved closer to him and leaned on his shoulder. She said, fawning, “Their company has an animation department, and they have recently released a–”

Before she finished speaking, someone suddenly knocked on the door.

The door wasn’t closed. Ye An looked up to see Xie Yuran looking in their direction. His expression was unreadable.

    “Ge,” he called.

He just had to enter at this time? Ye An was a little disappointed, but she could only swallow the rest of her words for now. She let go of Xie Shuo and exited his arms.

Xie Yuran came to find Xie Shuo because of the company’s affairs, so it was inappropriate for her to listen in. She could only leave the study.

Before entering, Xie Yuran glanced at her with an indescribable expression.

Ye An: Did I do something wrong? Was acting coquettish with one’s own husband a crime?

Ye An had mysteriously found herself returning to the bedroom.

Her phone suddenly buzzed twice. New messages appeared in the workplace group chat.

    Xiang Quan: [@Ye An]

Xiang Quan: [Record a little section from the script that Shi Shuangshuang sent you yesterday; the public relations team wants to use it.]

Ye An unlocked her phone to reply: [Can I use the computer to record it? Or do I need to go to the recording studio?]

    Xiang Quan: [A computer’s fine.]

Xiang Quan: [You can ask Shuangshuang to send the section that needs to be recorded.]

Soon after, Shi Shuangshuang sent an electronic file over.

Ye An skimmed it before moving to her computer. She put on headphones and began to record directly in the room.

        —-

    Inside the studio.

The curtains were half open, and the afternoon light entered, crystalline and translucent. Xie Yuran looked towards the window, a trace of surprise flitting through his eyes.

He turned to Xie Shuo, saying, “On the board of directors’ side, things have calmed down a bit over the past two months. However, there are still individuals who are still restless in private. ”

Xie Shuo asked indifferently, “Who took the initiative?”

    Xie Yuran replied, “Wu Wenqi.”

Xie Shuo frowned, saying, “He has an illegitimate child. Find people to investigate it.”

Xie Yuran agreed and mentioned a few more matters. Lastly, he spoke about the company’s projects. Xie Shuo listened for a while before suddenly interjecting, “In the future, there’s no need to report these matters to me. You can handle them yourself.”

    Xie Yuran was taken aback.

The light shone silently, and the study went quiet.

He looked at Xie Shuo’s dark eyes, his expression changing multiple times. He appeared to want to say something but didn’t.

After Xie Yuran left, Xie Shuo sat alone in the studio for a while before getting up to return to the bedroom.

Walking to the outside of the bedroom door, he fumbled around to push the door open. Before entering, he heard a crying female voice transmitting from inside–

“…The child in my stomach isn’t yours and has no relation to you; don’t come to find me anymore!”
