    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 33.2

“I haven’t gone shopping for months. Will you go with me?” Ye An hugged his arm and rubbed it softly.

Xie Shuo looked indifferent. “Didn’t you go a few days ago?”

Ye An choked. After a while, she said stubbornly, “That’s different! We were on our honeymoon when it happened, and you mentioned going first–not me!”

Xie Shuo went silent thinking of that day. He said, “If you really want to go, let Xiao Yu go with you.”

Ye An’s eyes widened, and her face was full of disbelief. “Your wife is going shopping, and you let other men go with her?”

    Was he kidding?

Xie Shuo frowned upon hearing this. “Then go alone.”

“I don’t want to! It’s boring shopping alone.” Ye An shook his arm. “You’ll just be there with me. If I don’t buy anything, we can just walk along the streets and relax. I promise that you won’t have to carry any bags.”

    Xie Shuo remained unmoved.

Ye An hugged his waist and put her chin on his shoulder. She said coquettishly, “Hubby, please?”

As her warm breath brushed across his neck, Xie Shuo suddenly recalled when she was drunk a few days ago, and she lay drunk in his arms.

His cold, hard heart seemed to soften.

After a while, he said in a low tone, “An hour?”

Ye An still laid her head on his shoulder, pretending to be pitiful, and was stunned when he replied. She immediately lifted her head and began to bargain, “Two.”

As expected, she would take a mile if given an inch.

    Xie Shuo looked down.

Seeing that something wasn’t right, Ye An hesitated. “Forget it, an hour is fine. Let’s change.”

She pulled him up and went to the bedroom to change clothes. Afterward, she called Xiao Yu to accompany them.

        —

The autumn sky was bright and clear, and when the wind blew, it carried along a breath of sunshine.

Although Ye An wanted to take Xie Shuo to a busy market, she decided against it after considering his situation and identity. In the end, she finally chose a street that was near her old university and the park.

Except for Saturdays, there usually weren’t many pedestrians, and the scene was quiet.

The two of them left at 3:40pm, but by the time they got there, it was nearly 5:00pm. The sun had already set west, and the temperature had cooled.

Their stipulated time was one hour, and Ye An didn’t dare waste it. She took his arm and walked slowly down the street, talking to Xie Shuo as they did so.

There were several osmanthus shrubs planted in intervals along the street, and their fragrance drifted in the wind and down the streets.

“Have you been here before?” Ye An turned her head to ask.

Xie Shuo wasn’t used to the noises around him, but he said, “My university isn’t in China.”

Ye An knew what he was thinking about, and she slid one of her hands down his arm and grasped his hand. She whispered, “No one is looking at us; we’re all strangers here.”

Xie Shuo pursed his lips and said nothing.

Ye An laughed. “Even if people see us, it’s because you’re too handsome, and they’re jealous.”

Hearing her familiar laugh, Xie Shuo’s expression softened. She always knew how to get her way and be set in her self-righteousness as if she didn’t care about anyone else’s opinion.

The sun set lower and lower while the distant sky began to blur with the rose-tinted clouds. The colorful skies dyed the street scene with a layer of brilliant radiance.

As they walked, Ye An noticed a flower shop in front of them on the side of the road.

The shop wasn’t big, but the selection of flowers was quite colorful and plentiful. They were clustered from the inside of the store outwards.

“There’s a flower shop over there!” Ye An hugged Xie Shuo’s arm excitedly. “Let’s go see.”

She dragged Xie Shuo to the outside of the flower shop and turned to say, “Can I buy flowers instead of clothes?”

Xie Shuo replied indifferently, “Aren’t there flowers planted at home?”

Ye An: …Why did this man not understand romance?

“That’s different!” Ye An took his arm and shook it. “You haven’t bought flowers for me yet. It’s rare for you to come out with me. Don’t you think you should gift me some flowers?”

Xie Shuo was silent with a “whatever” expression on his face.

Ye An turned her head to look at the flowers in the store. She chose a full bouquet of red roses in the middle.

She said loudly, “Boss, please give me some roses. Don’t add too many, nine is fine.”

The owner picked out nine roses. She trimmed them, tied them into a bouquet, and handed them to her.

Ye An took them into her arms and smelled them, smiling.

She pulled Xie Shuo over. “Pay.”

Xie Shuo turned to face her, and there were four words written on his face: I didn’t bring any money.

    Ye An: “…”

When she thought about it, it made sense. He couldn’t see, so why would he bring money?

Ye An held the roses, and the sweetness that she had just felt instantly turned into embarrassment. In the end, she had to pay the boss under the latter’s scrutinous gaze.

Forget it. She took out his card and estimated how much it would cost. This could count as him buying the flowers.

Thinking of this, Ye An’s mood was lifted. She held the flowers in one hand and his arm in the other as she turned towards another lively street.

A young couple walked near them wearing backpacks. They seemed to be still students based on their youthful appearances.

Ye An thought of something and let go of Xie Shuo’s arm. Instead, she grabbed his hand and turned to him. “I’ll guide you by hand, okay?”

Xie Shuo frowned, but before he could respond, Ye An had already taken half a step forward, turned around, and faced him.

She took his hand while walking backwards.

“The road in front of you is flat, so you can walk wherever. Don’t be afraid.”

Xie Shuo frowned even more to show his reluctance, but he still went along with her advice.

The two walked one step at a time down the long street, one in front and the other behind.

There were curious glances from passersby, but Ye An didn’t care. Only his reflection was in her eyes.

After walking for a while, she started to release his hand slowly. As her fingers slid down, she moved away bit by bit and stepped aside.

Xie Shuo suddenly lost her support and stopped.

His hand instinctively reached out to grab something, but nothing was there.

The sunset shone diagonally with the dust particles floating between his fingertips, and the evening breeze gently caressed his face.

His shadow was slender and long.

There was a constant sound in his ears, but for him, it only contributed to the deep sea of darkness.

Ye An held a flower and observed him from a few steps away. It was as if she saw a youthful spirit about him, and the corners of her eyes turned red.

After a while, Xie Shuo frowned and called out, “Ye An.”

There seemed to be a bit of irritability in his expression.

Ye An walked up to him and touched his fingers.

    “I’m right here,” she said.

Xie Shuo gripped her hand with strength, making the veins on his hand rise and her fingers hurt.

Ye An let him hold it as she smiled and looked up at him. “Now you know how important I am? Try bullying me again in the future; I dare you!”

Xie Shuo’s expression sank, and his face went ashen.

Afraid that he would get annoyed in public, Ye An hugged him and hurriedly comforted him, “I was just kidding; don’t be angry. I also want to be by your side and be there for you at all of the appointments! Don’t you want to get well sooner too?”

Xie Shuo’s expression softened a little, but he still pursed his lips tightly and didn’t speak.

Ye An took his arm and guided him forwards. “The doctor said that your current condition is much better than before and that a daily walk helps. If you follow his arrangements, then you’ll definitely be able to see one day…”

“What if they don’t work?” he suddenly interrupted her.

    Again with this question.

Ye An’s heart shook, and she stopped to face him. The setting sun shone on his face and made him glow.

After a while, she looked up, saying softly, “Did you forget? We already agreed that we’d stay married for the rest of our lives if your eyes don’t get better.”

    I’ll help you see the mountains and rivers you want to see;

    I’ll accompany you on the walks you want to walk;

    I’ll be your eyes.

Marriage for a lifetime… Xie Shuo silently listened to her speak, and his thoughts were indistinguishable.

When Ye An finished her speech, she hugged his arm again. “Besides, aren’t you tired of me? You should be more cooperative, so you can heal quicker and divorce me sooner.”

For some reason, Xie Shuo suddenly felt that her words were a bit harsh. He opened his mouth to say something but decided not to in the end.

        —-

The sunset occupied the sky, and the wind fluttered through the bustling streets.

Across the road, a voice suddenly sounded from the midst of a large crowd:

“Hey, isn’t that An An jie?”

Xiang Quan looked up at the mention and froze when he saw her in the distance.

In the sunset glow, a man and a woman strolled together. There was something evidently wrong with the man’s eyes, and he needed to be guided forward.

“Is the person on her side her husband?”

“Why does her husband… look a little weird?”

    “Can his eyes not see?”

Everybody gasped as if they had heard some earth-shattering news.

“Didn’t she marry someone rich and powerful? How come he’s blind?”

    “Are you sure?”

    “Yeah, that’s her…”

        ……

Author’s Note: Xiao Ye: When your eyes heal soon, we’ll divorce.

Xiao Xie: Even if they do heal, we’re not divorcing.

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 34

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 34

That night, as Ye An was putting the roses they bought earlier into a vase, she suddenly received a Wechat message from Xiang Quan.

Xiang Quan: [Did you go out today?]

Ye An was surprised by his text and answered: [Yes, how’d you know?]

Xiang Quan: [There was an event that our studio held today with some other organizations, and I saw you on the way out.]

That meant he also saw Xie Shuo. Ye An’s actions paused.

Xiang Quan: [The man by your side was…?]

Ye An looked down and replied: [My husband.]

As soon as she sent the text, the other party began typing.

After a long time, the response came through: [Is he visually impaired?]

Ye An knew he would ask this question and replied, “En,” with no hesitation.

The icon that showed the other party typing appeared again, representing the confusion and shock in his heart.

Xiang Quan: [I wasn’t trying to mean anything by it. There were a lot of people there today and a lot of gossip happening. You have a pretty good reputation in the industry now, and I just wanted to remind you to be mentally prepared.]

Ye An: [All right, I understand. Thank you.]

From the moment she had taken Xie Shuo out, she had predicted this outcome.

There was no response from the other party, probably because he didn’t know what else to say.

After the conversation was over, Ye An looked at her phone for a while before picking an outfit for Xie Shuo to go bathe.

        —-

The gossip spread quickly through the circles, and Ye An was bombarded with texts from Shi Shuangshuang the next morning.

Shi Shuangshuang: [An An, what’s going on?]

Shi Shuangshuang: [Why is everyone saying that you married a blind man?]

    Shi Shuangshuang: [They’re rumors, right?]

    Shi Shuangshuang:[confused.jpg]

When Ye An saw the texts, Ye An had just woken up and finished showering. She clicked the reply box and typed her reply, asking, [Who’s saying that?]

Shi Shuangshuang sent a randomly selected post.

Ye An clicked on it and looked at the post title: [Ye An’s husband is blind! Did you guys know?]

Post discussion: I went out shopping today and unexpectedly saw Ye An with a man. The man was blind and should be her husband. It shocked me out of my wits! The attached picture below is proof.

The picture attached below showed her and Xie Shuo out shopping yesterday. The picture was taken from far away and of low quality, so her face was shown, but only a small part of Xie Shuo’s face was visible.

    The comment section was active:

First comment:[WTF! That’s hard to believe!]

Second comment: [I’m confused? Didn’t she marry rich; what’s the truth?]

Third comment: [Marrying rich doesn’t mean that she also can’t marry a blind man, right? Maybe it was because he was blind that she was able to marry rich?]

Fourth comment: [I have a theory; maybe she had a Chongxi marriage?**]

(Chongxi)-There is a superstition in China where marriage brings luck into the family. Chongxi marriages are for sick people in hopes that the blessing from the marriage will cure the person’s ailment.

    ……

Fifth comment: […@Fourth comment, I kind of believe it.]

Sixth comment: [What era is this for there to be Chongxi marriages still happening? How funny. grin.jpg ]

Seventh comment: [Am I the only one noticing that the man is attractive?]

Eighth comment: [Even with this picture quality, you’re also able to see how handsome he is? Respect. bowing.jpg]

        —

Ye An skimmed the comments before closing the post.

Shi Shuangshuang sent another text: [Can you send a lawyer after these kinds of rumors?]

Ye An replied: [Those aren’t rumors; my husband is blind.]

    Shi Shuangshuang: “…”

Shi Shuangshuang was so shocked she almost dropped her phone. Didn’t she marry a rich and powerful Eldest Young Master? How come he’s blind?

Ye An: [I was accompanying him in treatment in the past.]

It took a while for Shi Shuangshuang to digest the news and reply: [Is it that serious? How long will he take to heal?]

    Ye An: [Not sure yet.]

Shi Shuangshuang’s fingers paused, and she hesitated for a while before saying:  [Let me ask one more question. Did you want to marry him?]

Seeing her text, Ye An couldn’t help but laugh as she replied: [What are you thinking of? If I didn’t want to, who could make me do something? crying.laughing.jpg]

Shi Shuangshuang breathed a sigh of relief, but she still didn’t quite understand something.

Shi Shuangshuang: [Then how did you…what do you see in him?]

Shi Shuangshuang: [No offense to your husband.]

Ye An: [He’s rich and handsome!]

    Shi Shuangshuang: […]

    Of course.

Ye An: [I’m really okay, and my life is good. I married him by my own choice, so don’t believe people that say otherwise.]

Shi Shuangshuang recalled how Ye An looked when she showed  off her wealth at the company dinner last time and began to believe it. She replied: [As long as you’re happy, nothing else matters. I wish your husband a speedy recovery. Love you!]

Ye An smiled and replied with a kissing emoji before putting her phone down. After Xie Shuo came out of the bathroom, they headed downstairs to eat.

After breakfast, Ye An read to Xie Shuo in the study as usual. It had been challenging for the last two days because the material was a classic written in English, so it was somewhat difficult to read. Xie Shuo had to help her occasionally.

While reading, Ye An thought about learning a few more languages to fully tap into her potential.

An hour later, Ye An closed the book with a dry mouth. There was half a cup of tea on the table that had been poured a while ago, and she drank it in one go.

She held the teacup and rested for a while before asking Xie Shuo to lie down so she could give him a head massage.

She looked down, causing her eyelashes to droop. Her profile was fair and as smooth as porcelain against the backdrop of the sky.

After a twenty-minute massage, Ye An helped him get up. She looked into his eyes and suddenly had an idea. “I think you can learn a new skill before your eyes heal; you should learn how to be a masseuse.”

Xie Shuo opened his eyes and faced her expressionlessly.

“I’m serious.” Ye An’s fingers were numb, so she opened and closed her hand and shook them a few times. “I heard that blind people’s senses–like touch, become extra sensitive to compensate, so learning how to do massages would be easier for you than ordinary people.”

She abruptly leaned closer to him. “Is your sense of touch more sensitive than before?”

Her familiar scent entered his nostrils as she approached closer, and her warm breath blew across his face. Xie Shuo turned his face to the side, ignoring her nonsense.

Ye An was curious and couldn’t hold back her urge to touch his Adam’s apple.

In the next moment, her hand was caught, and her fingertips became trapped in his palm.

Ye An smiled. “So it’s true!”

Xie Shuo suddenly pulled her into his arms and held her soft waist with a cold face.

Ye An wasn’t expecting this as she was knocked into his chest. She was stunned by his handsome face up close.

The sound of their breaths was audible in the silence.

Xie Shuo spoke in a low voice, seeming to contain some emotion.

“If you don’t want the same thing from the other day to happen again, calm down.”

After saying this sentence, he let go of her mercilessly and got up to walk out of the study, leaving only the image of his back.

The events from the other day… Chaotic scenes flashed through her mind and left her face red.

That day, they were also on the sofa. Although her experience was unpleasant at the time, they came close to…she still remembered the feeling of him leaning over to kiss her and the strength in his fingers.

The sofa under her hand also seemed to heat up, causing Ye An to move her hand and put it in her lap out of discomfort. The heat in her ears lingered for a long time.

Wasn’t it just a light touch?

        —

The two didn’t meet again until lunchtime.

In the afternoon, Ye An wrapped herself in a thin blanket and took an hour-long nap in the bedroom.

After she woke up, she turned on her phone and checked Weibo, which she discovered had exploded with activity.

A melon-eating blogger reposted the photo taken of her and Xie Shuo, and within a few hours, there were thousands of reposts and nearly ten thousand comments.

Her popularity soared a while ago when “Pharmacist” became popular and Brilliant Dreams had promoted her. If she hadn’t been taking care of Xie Shuo and had no intention of building up her career, the news could have potentially been even more popular now.

Ye An clicked on the comments and looked at them. The passersby, fans, and anti-fans gathered together to observe the chaos:

[I’ve eaten another melon now. So she actually married a blind man and not someone rich and powerful? confused.jpg]

[Isn’t it such a pity to marry a blind person with such good looks?]

[You can do anything with money. This meimei is also pretty fierce.]

[emmm, there’s no need for this, really no need…]

[I screamed seeing this; I liked her that much…]

[Everyone’s talking about Ye An, but does no one care about who her husband is?]

[I care! Squatting for this melon~]

She looked at her own Weibo profile to see that people were fighting in her comments. Some fans quit being her fan, some didn’t believe the rumors, and some respected her choices and only wanted to watch her works.

Ye An skimmed the comments and saw that some people were questioning Xie Shuo’s identity, so she hurriedly called Zhong Fu and asked him to find someone to observe the internet activity. That way, they could be ready to delete the post and withdraw this topic from the trending search at any time.

Although the picture only showed a blurred side profile, it was difficult to guarantee that no one would put together the clues and find something.

Zhong Fu received the call and immediately had someone on it.

Ye An was somewhat relieved and began to think of how to appease her fans and calm the public.

She got up to go to the bathroom. After washing her face and taking a minute to calm down, she pulled out a wedding ring from her drawer, which had been hidden for a long time.

This time, she also took out Xie Shuo’s ring.

Xie Shuo wasn’t in the bedroom, but Ye An found him in the study. She sat down next to him and reached out for his hand.

    “Give me your hand.”

    Xie Shuo: “?”

Seeing him not respond, Ye An grabbed his left hand and put his wedding band on for him.

Xie Shuo touched the object on his ring finger and frowned. “What are you doing?”

“Don’t take it off yet; let me take a photo first,” Ye An said while putting her own ring on.

She took Xie Shuo’s hand and put it on the table next to her.

Their two hands overlapped with her hand on top of his and displaying the rings.

After arranging the pose, Ye An took a picture from several angles. She felt as if something was missing from the picture.

After thinking of it, she let go of him and hurried back to the bedroom. She took a rose from the bouquet she bought yesterday and hurried back to the study.

She took Xie Shuo’s hand again and put it on hers, saying, “Don’t move; I’m taking a picture.”

Although Xie Shuo looked impatient, he cooperated with her and didn’t move.

Ye An put the rose by their hands and found a good angle to take another picture. This time, it satisfied her requirements.

After the shot, she ignored Xie Shuo and sat down on the side to start retouching the picture.

Bewildered by her actions, Xie Shuo twisted the wedding ring on his finger as if wanting to take it off. After a while, he was finally able to do so.

Ye An edited the picture for a long time and posted it on Weibo after confirming that there was no problem.

Ye An: Like a fish drinking water, I know its warmth and chill. I am fine, and so is my husband. Thank you for everyone’s concern. <3**

如鱼饮水,冷暖自知- A fish is always in the water, so it knows what cold and hot water feels like. This idiom generally refers to your experience, and you know the joys and sorrows of your experiences.

Soon after, the comment section exploded

    [Announcement!!!]

    [crying.jpg You’re really married to a blind man? I wanna cry…]

[Like a fish drinking water, you know its warmth and chill. Alright, as long as jiejie is happy~]

[Am I the only one that thinks the term ‘my husband’ is super endearing?]

    [Nope, +1]

[What a beautiful love, I suddenly want to kneel to this CP kowtow.jpg]

[As a fan of hands, I declare this CP adequate.]

[My ideal type is also rich, handsome, and blind. That way, he can’t see my ugly face :)]

    [Also my ideal type :)]

Because Ye An is usually relatively low-key and is not a person in the entertainment industry, most of the comments were calmer than she predicted. Although there was still ridicule and doubt, they were quickly hidden by the newer comments.

After dealing with the drama, Ye An heaved a sigh of relief, dropped the phone, and slumped on the sofa.

Xie Shuo also sat down beside her. Ye An glanced at the wedding ring on his finger, and the corners of her lips raised. She asked him happily, “What are we doing today?”

Xie Shuo said lightly, “There’s a document on the table; read it to me.”

    Ye An: “…”

    All right.

They were busy until four, and Ye An dragged Xie Shuo outside to take a walk in the garden.

The autumn sun shined down, and there were geese flying through the clear skies.

        —

    That evening in Yishui City.

Xia Jin was carrying vegetables while walking into her neighborhood when a young girl passed by pushing a bicycle. When she saw Xia Jin, she asked, “Aunt Jin, I heard that An jie is married now.”

Xia Jin froze. “Who said that?”

The girl was also stunned. “I followed her on Weibo and saw her post her wedding ring…” Seeing Xia Jin’s reaction, the girl was a little confused. “Aunt Jin, did you not know?”

Xia Jin’s expression instantly changed, and she said, “Can you show me?”

The girl realized that she might have done something wrong and nervously clicked on Ye An’s Weibo profile to show the photo.

In the photo, two hands were clasped together next to delicate red roses. The two wedding rings formed a pair.

Xia Jin’s expression became uglier and uglier. She hurried home with her vegetables.

As soon as she entered the house, she took out her phone to make a call before even taking off her shoes.

Ye An and Xie Shuo were resting on the lounge chairs in the garden when she heard the vibrating sounds of her phone. She took it out, paused, looked at Xie Shuo, and got up to walk away and accept the call.

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 33.1

A soft body slipped in his arms. Xie Shuo tightened his grip with a slightly startled expression.

In the darkness, he was able to smell the light fragrance in her hair.

Night had fallen, but it made no difference in his dark vision. He was quiet for a moment before helping her lie down and pulling the comforter to cover her.

Outside the window, the moon was clear and bright.

        —-

The next day, Ye An didn’t wake up until the sun hung high in the sky.

She wasn’t drunk anymore, but the headache remained. She hugged the comforter, sat up, and pressed her hand against her forehead.

The sun shined outside the room, and she looked up to see Xie Shuo on the balcony, his long, lean figure shrouded in radiance.

It was rare for him to go outside on his own initiative instead of constantly staying inside in low spirits.

As Ye An looked at his back facing her, she tried to recall last night’s events. She couldn’t remember most of them and only remembered that after showering, she had stuck to him unscrupulously, hugged his neck, and wouldn’t stop talking.

Sure enough, alcohol easily exposed one’s true nature.

When she was done nursing her headache, Ye An lifted the covers and walked toward the balcony. Her nightgown was white and thin, so under the sun, it was slightly transparent and displayed her curves.

Xie Shuo didn’t look back when he heard footsteps behind him, and it seemed like he was thinking about something.

Ye An stepped forward and looked into his eyes, saying uneasily, “If you want some sun, don’t face it directly. The doctor said that your eyes shouldn’t be exposed to bright lights.”

Xie Shuo turned to face her with an indifferent expression. “You’re sober now?”

Recalling what happened last night, Ye An’s expression froze. She said guiltily, “I thought that the wine wouldn’t be that strong. I didn’t expect to get so drunk.”

Xie Shuo’s expression was indifferent, but he didn’t look upset either. It could even be considered gentle.

In the rippling lake, there were already tourists in the distance.

After standing there for a while, he suddenly said, “You’re still not taking a shower; aren’t we going out today?”

Ye An returned to her senses and immediately turned around. “On it.”

As she walked to the bathroom, she looked back and thought: He… seemed to be in a good mood today?

    What an unpredictable man.

After showering, Ye An went downstairs with Xie Shuo to eat breakfast, and then they went to visit the island’s other tourist attractions as previously planned.

Today, they were going to see a temple that was pretty far away from the inn. It was called Qianyue Temple and was said to be very auspicious.

The surroundings around the temple were quiet, so there were few tourists in the remote environment.

As soon as they stepped in, the cool air blew across their faces. Leaves fluttered down the branches from the aged trees in the courtyard.

Their visit to the temple wasn’t originally a part of Ye An’s plan, but after hearing someone mention it yesterday, she decided to come and pray for Xie Shuo’s eyes to heal as soon as possible.

When people were powerless, they would always pin their hopes on the heavens.

Xie Shuo was apathetic and clearly didn’t believe in these types of things. Ye An coaxed him in a low tone, “You have to be sincere for the prayers to work; just ask to be safe and sound.”

She took him to the main hall and helped him light his incense sticks before helping him kneel with her and pray together.

The fragrant smoke curled up and blurred their features.

This time, the two never came across Zhuang Yinian and Yan Fei.

When leaving the temple, Ye An dragged Xie Shuo to get a Chinese fortune divination stick. The one they picked said, “An ill tree’s future springs,” which predicted new upcoming power and fortune.

Ye An’s widened in joy, and she said as they walked out, “‘An ill tree’s future springs;’ that must mean that you’re definitely going to get better this time!”

Because of her optimism, Xie Shuo’s complexion also softened, and there was a trace of tenderness between his brows.

After leaving the temple, the two went to their next destination.

The fallen leaves swept under their feet with the wind.

        —-

Their honeymoon wasn’t very long, so they returned home four days later.

Xie Baiyan had left for a business trip the day before they arrived, so the house became their own two-person home again.

It was four o’clock in the evening by the time they returned home. Ye An sat down on the sofa and sipped some water from a cup in her hands. But before she could catch her breath, she suddenly heard Xie Shuo say, “Call Zhong Fu for me, and let him come by tomorrow.”

He sat beside her with furrowed eyebrows and a grave expression.

Ye An had Zhong Fu’s number saved on her phone because Xie Shuo’s eyes made it inconvenient for him to make and answer calls, so she usually took care of them for him.

“Did something happen?” After making the call, Ye An couldn’t help but ask.

Xie Shuo frowned and waved his hand. “No.”

Since he didn’t want to talk about company affairs, she didn’t ask any more questions and only reminded him, “Tomorrow, a doctor will come give you acupuncture; don’t forget.”

Xie Shuo closed his eyes and responded with a low, “En.”

At ten o’clock the next morning, Zhong Fu came alone without Xie Yuran this time.

Ye An helped Xie Shuo sit down in the study before turning to leave, not wanting to disturb their business discussions.

When she went back to the bedroom, she saw their “little daughter” penguin in the corner, and she couldn’t help but stop in her tracks and walk over.

As soon as she touched its head, an aggrieved Mengyin complained, “Master, you haven’t come to see me in a long time…”

Ye An lovingly pet its small head and wings, soothing it. “I went on a honeymoon with your dad.”

The little penguin immediately responded with an excited, “Wow!”

Ye An chuckled and pressed its feed button to feed it. After playing with it for a while, she turned around and walked to the sofa.

After going out and walking around for the past few days, her legs were a bit sore. Ye An picked up her phone and adjusted her position so that she laid down comfortably on the sofa with her long fair legs stretched out.

There were dozens of unread messages on her phone, all from the work studio group chat.

Ye An opened them, and it turned out that the studio planned to hold an event in cooperation with two other well-known voice acting teams in the industry. They were discussing related matters, but Xiang Quan didn’t ask her if she wanted to participate. It seemed like he really did give up on her.

Ye An wanted to laugh, but as she stared at the chat activity, she suddenly remembered her Weibo account she had abandoned for so long that weeds were going to sprout. She picked a few pretty pictures of the scenery taken at Qianyue Mountain and posted them.

In the next few minutes, comments flooded in and begged for more pictures of her. Many of them said, “Ah! Miss, you’re finally back from the dead.”

        —

The autumn weather was cool and crisp, and wispy white clouds lazed in the blue skies. The speckled sunlight fell on the bookshelves.

Xie Shuo asked, “I asked you and Yuran to handle the Ju family cooperation case last time. Besides you two, who else was involved in the matter?”

Zhong Fu was somewhat confused as he answered, “Vice Director Zhang.”

Xie Shuo looked down and fiddled with his fingers as if he was thinking about something.

Zhong Fu had worked for Xie Shuo for a long time and understood his thoughts immediately. He asked, “Does President Xie suspect…Vice Deputy Director Zhang?”

Xie Shuo didn’t reply. Only after a while did he say, “Keep an eye on him, but don’t let him know.”

Zhong Fu acknowledged him, but after recalling something, he asked, “Do you want President Xie Yuran to know as well?”

Xie Shuo went quiet with an unreadable expression before saying five words, “No need for the time being.”

Half an hour later, Zhong Fu left.

Ye An dragged her sore legs to the study and sat down beside Xie Shuo. Seeing his elbow resting on the sofa and his exhausted expression, she asked softly, “Does your head hurt again? Do you want me to massage your temples?”

Xie put his arm down and turned to face her.

Ye An covered his hand and squeezed it as she said gently, “I haven’t massaged your head for a long time, and you have to have acupuncture done later this afternoon.”

There was no objection from Xie Shuo. Rather, Ye An watched as his expression eased. She touched his shoulders to try to make him lie down.

Xie Shuo, probably really tired, actually laid down on his back and put his head in her lap before closing his eyes.

This Eldest Young Master was very cooperative today. Ye An looked down, placed her fingertips at his temples, and massaged them gently.

The sun was shining, and the room was quiet.

In the afternoon, Professor Cen sent a specialized doctor over to perform acupuncture on Xie Shuo.

As usual, Ye An watched nervously on the side.

After the acupuncture was done, the doctor did a basic check-up on Xie Shuo. Before leaving, he said to Ye An, “His current state is much better than before; just continue to do what you have been doing. Take him out for walks and let him be more positive. This will be good for recovery.”

Ye An wasn’t sure if this advice was just to comfort her, so she nodded.

She returned to the bedroom and fed Xie Shuo the medicine, looked at him, and said warmly, “Go to bed and sleep for a while. I’ll wake you up at dinner.”

Xie Shuo got up, and Ye An helped him over to the bed. After he laid down, she covered him with a comforter.

She didn’t leave immediately and sat by the bed looking at him. Remembering what the doctor said gave her a headache.

Getting him to go out more was easier said than done. If it weren’t for the trouble caused on Grandfather Ye’s birthday, he probably wouldn’t even have agreed to go to Qianyue Mountain.

It was indeed difficult when considering the task at hand, but Ye An didn’t intend to give up. After resting for three days at home, she began her antics again and tried to convince Xie Shuo to go shopping with her.

Sure enough, she only received Xie Shuo’s indifference.

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 32.2

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 32.2

Ye An chatted with Zhuang Yinian for a while before the door to the balcony opened.

Ye An thought that they were going to talk for longer than that, so she was a little surprised. She got up to help Xie Shuo make his way back to their room.

When they returned, Ye An asked curiously, “What did you guys talk about?”

The development case project had failed so long ago. Was there any way to still save it?

Xie Shuo didn’t answer and frowned instead, as if he was thinking about something complicated.

Since he refused to say anything, Ye An didn’t push it. She brought the food they brought to the balcony table. “Let’s hurry and eat, or else the food will get cold.”

The setting sun gradually sank behind the mountains. The sky was filled with clouds but did not distract from the splendor of the sunset or prevent the rays of color from setting on their balcony.

Ye An picked a few pieces of each dish for Xie Shuo and sat by his side. She opened the bottle of rice wine and took a sip before she smiled, saying, “The innkeeper gave me a bottle of their home-brewed rice wine. It’s really fragrant, but you probably can’t have it since you’re on medication.”

The wind gently blew, and Xie Shuo was able to smell the rich aroma of the wine wafting over. He frowned and didn’t show much interest.

Ye An poured some into a small cup and began to enjoy the wine by herself.

The evening sunlight framed her face and made her glow, giving her an ethereal effect.

The rice wine was sweet and masked the wine’s potency, so Ye An drank a few more glasses.

However, the wine was unexpectedly very strong. At first, she was only a little dizzy, but after taking a shower, the effects of the alcohol coursed through her body.

This time, she was even more intoxicated than she was at the studio dinner. She sat directly on Xie Shuo’s lap and brought her arms around his neck, clinging to him and refusing to get down.

    “Hubby…”

A soft voice sounded in his ears, and her breath smelled of alcohol.

In the darkness, his senses were amplified, and every move of hers provoked him. Ye An’s antics made his head spin, so he caught her hand and frowned.

Just when he was about to tell her to go to sleep, he suddenly heard her whisper, “Do you really not remember me?”

Xie Shuo paused, thinking that her words were a bit strange.

Ye An laid in his arms, looking up at him with a sullen gaze and a complicated expression.

Suddenly, she laughed. “I’m a fairy from the heavens!”

    Xie Shuo: “…”

Ye An hugged him again and looped her arms around his neck. She smiled, saying ambiguously, “I’m a fairy from the heavens here to repay a favor…”

Feeling her breaths across his neck, Xie Shuo was helpless. He embraced her and said quietly, “Don’t fuss; go sleep.”

Ye An shook her head. “We haven’t seen the moon yet! The view of the moon is supposed to be really pretty…”

She raised a hand to trace his eyebrows. Her voice softened and became serious again, “Don’t frown too much. The doctor said that you have to go out more and stay positive. Only then can your eyes heal…”

Xie Shuo’s hand that was on her back froze.

After a while, he asked, “How do you know that I’m going to get better?”

“Because…I’m here.” Ye An’s eyes curved as she cupped his face, and it was as if there was an endless amount of moonlight reflected in her eyes. “If it comes down to it, I’ll be your eyes. Whatever you can’t see, I’ll help you see. I’ll describe it, and you can listen.”

Xie Shuo was somewhat surprised, and it felt as if something touched his heart.

Before he could say anything, Ye An had already let go of him and staggered to her feet before walking to a window-side and sitting down.

The white curtains blew in the wind. As she looked out of the window, she leaned against it with her skirt swaying in the breeze.

In the vast night sky, the moon glowed and was reflected in the rippling lake.

    “The moon is so pretty!”

The view before Ye An’s eyes was stunning. She wanted to describe it to him, but her vocabulary was too elementary to capture the scenery. Aside from the word “pretty,” she couldn’t think of any other words.

After racking her brains for a while, an idea suddenly came across her mind.

“Do you want to hear me recite a poem?”

    Xie Shuo: “…”

Soon after, a soft voice sounded, carrying a trace of drunken intention–

“Tides of the spring river washes into the leveled ocean, and with the tide, a luminous moon is born above sea surface. Shimmering with the waves for thousands of li, where is there no moonlight gracing this spring river? The river snakes around the lush green fields and the moon shines upon the flower-filled forest, making all appear like sleet…”*

*this from the 36-line Tang dynasty poem 春江花月夜, or “Blossoms on a Moonlight River in Spring” composed by Zhang Ruo Xu.

Xie Shuo’s originally indifferent expression softened.

It must have been hard for her to remember such a long poem.

After some time, her voice gradually quietened down, and the room resumed its silence.

Ye An laid her head on her knees and closed her eyes, her black hair fanned out over her shoulders.

The night breeze entered through the windows, bringing in the cool air.

When he hadn’t heard Ye An’s voice for a while, he estimated the distance and walked over. Worried that she had fallen asleep, he called out, frowning, “Ye An?”

A few seconds later, Ye An opened her eyes and looked up. In a cold and arrogant tone, she said, “Why are you calling my name, stupid mortal?”

    Xie Shuo: “…”

After speaking, she closed her eyes again.

Since Xie Shuo couldn’t see, he thought she was still awake and said, “It’s late; go to bed.”

He waited for a while, but she didn’t respond.

Xie Shuo was now sure that she was extremely drunk and stood there, wondering if he should help her inside. He took a few steps forwards and reached out to feel for where she was and touched her hair.

He slowly moved his hand down her hair to her back and around her ribs. His other hand went down her arm, over her waist, and finally stopped at her knees.

His movements were cumbersome and awkward, so Ye An was woken up by his movements.

She opened her eyes, looked at him with a confused gaze, and rested her head on his shoulder.

Under the lights, the man looked as handsome as he did in the past.

Xie Shuo carried her princess-style and turned to walk over to the bed. Because he wasn’t familiar with his surroundings, he went slowly.

When he reached the bed and crouched to set her down, a hand suddenly stroked his cheek.

Her slender fingers were a bit cold from staying near the window for too long.

Afterward, her soft lips met his, unlike when she kissed his throat the last time.

It was as if a drop of the moon fell into the water, causing ripples to form.

    Xie Shuo’s actions paused.

Ye An hooked her arms around his neck and kissed him twice before releasing her hold and snuggling into his chest.

She rubbed her face against his body with her eyelids drooping and whispered softly–

    “You will definitely get better…”

Author’s Note: That’s a wrap for the honeymoon; they’ll be going home in the next chapter~

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 32.1

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 32.1

She was only wearing a bathing suit, and Xie Shuo wasn’t wearing much more. The two embraced with almost no barriers between them.

She was able to feel his rock-hard chest and his gentle fragrance while in his arms.

Ye An looked up and faced his chin and lips and was stunned. Shu hurriedly let go of him, got up, and moved to the edge of the swimming pool.

To prevent him from misunderstanding, she hastily tried to explain, “That was an accident.”

However, once she said these words, it felt as if she meant the opposite.

Xie Shuo knit his brows but said nothing.

Since Grandfather Ye’s birthday, Ye An had calmed down with her teasing antics. The only exception was when she would unconsciously snuggle into his arms at night; other than that, she seldomly stuck to his side unbridled.

When she rushed over, he instinctively thought that she was going to start teasing him again–but the last thing he expected was the opposite to be true and an explanation accompanying it.

He wasn’t too used to her being like this.

Seeing him frown silently, Ye An suspected that he didn’t believe her. After all, she had developed a certain reputation after her previous convictions.

She didn’t try to keep clarifying the situation, so she just floated at the edge of the pool and stared openly at him.

His broad chest and lean waist were especially eye-catching and pleasing for her to look at.

Xie Shuo couldn’t hear her voice or see what she was doing, but he felt that something wasn’t right. After a moment of silence, he said, “If you’re done soaking, then you can get out of the pool.”

Ye An was actually pretty drowsy, so she yawned and said, “I’m going to go up and sleep for a while. Are you coming?”

Xie Shuo didn’t answer, but he propped himself up over the edge of the pool.

Ye An tacitly understood and reached an arm out to help him.

The two got out of the hot spring pool and dried themselves before wrapping themselves in towels and resting on the deck chairs by the pool.

Xie Shuo lay on his back while Ye An lay on her side. She put her chin on her arm and continued to admire his beauty.

The air was humid and carried the scent of osmanthus. Small blossoms on the tops of the osmanthus shrubs swayed lightly in the wind.

Their surroundings were silent, and as Ye An continued to stare at Xie Shuo, her eyelids began to droop.

        —-

After leaving the hot springs, the two ate dinner and went for a walk nearby. The two chose not to go out anywhere else and returned to the hotel to rest early.

Before she went to sleep, Ye An reviewed the photos sent by Zhuang Yinian. There were actually two photos, and the extra one happened to be when she looked up at Xie Shuo.

The lights and shadows shone down diagonally and blurred the scene, creating a breathtaking visual effect.

As expected of the chief photographer of YN, this picture beat all the other ones on her phone. Ye An admired it with satisfaction and saved it.

The next day, their destination was Qianyue Lake.

Qianyue Lake was one of the most famous scenic attractions at Qianyue Mountain. The lake view during a moonlit night was said to be particularly beautiful, so Ye An booked a room at a bed and breakfast inn near the lake in advance.

They could easily commute from the hotel to Qianyue Lake, so the two rode by car to the bed and breakfast. After putting away their luggage, they took a walk along the lake.

This time, their walk wasn’t on a rough mountain path, so Xie Shuo was also less prone to accidents. Xiao Yu deliberately followed them from a long distance away so as to not disturb them.

With the fine sunny weather and the white clouds, the dark blue lake resembled fine jade under the vast sky. The distant mountains intercepted the water rippling on the horizon.

Xie Shuo wore his sunglasses, and Ye An supported him as they walked along the lakeside and depicted their surrounding scenery.

A light breeze swept across their faces and brought along a faint dewiness.

People came and went in twos and threes. Occasionally, there were a few curious gazes that trailed them, but Ye An ignored them.

At some point in their walk, Ye An suddenly looked up and out in excitement. “There’s a small boat in front of us that’s open to rent. Do you want to take the boat to the lake for a spin?”

Although she asked a question, she gave him no chance to object. Ye An called for Xie Shuo to head over and asked about renting the boat.

Xie Shuo didn’t protest. As long as her requests weren’t overly excessive, he basically went along with whatever she wanted to do.

The three of them got on the boat, and Ye An helped Xie Shuo sit down at the front. As a result, the hull dipped into the water, causing the water to ripple.

When they reached the center of the pond, the boat shook slightly, and Ye An instinctively grasped Xie Shuo’s hand.

Xie Shuo, thinking that she was about to fall, squeezed her hand tightly.

The man’s fingers were long and slender. His large hands wrapped tightly around hers, warm and strong.

Ye An looked at him, and her heart skipped a beat.

When the boat became more stable after a while, Xie Shuo let go of her hand. However, her hand took the opportunity to slide down and clasp his fingers, their palms pressing tightly together.

Xie Shuo thought that she was scared, so he didn’t break away.

The early autumn sun beamed against the lake surface, making it gleam like scales, and the light reflected on the sides of Ye An’s face. She looked at him with bright eyes, and her lips secretly curled.

        —-

The two did not return to the inn from their lakeside walk until the evening.

The sky was filled with sunset clouds and imbued the walls with colors.

The ancient-style bed and breakfast inn had wooden floors, a small balcony in the room, and many flowers and plants.

Ye An was in a good mood and decided to set the table for dinner on the balcony.

The inn provided dinner service, but she personally had to go down and order the dishes. Ye An had Xie Shuo wait in the room and left.

When she reached the beginning of the stairs, she bumped into Zhuang Yinian and Yan Fei yet once again. Haven’t there been too many coincidences of them meeting for this plotline at this point?

Ye An’s footsteps paused, and she hesitated on whether or not to say hello.

The two walked away from her and didn’t see Ye An coming also going down the stairs. Zhuang Yinian held onto Yan Fei’s arm and said that the food at the inn was really nothing special and completely inferior to Yan Fei’s cooking at home.

Hearing the sweet conversation between the two, Ye An yet again took another critical hit and silently slowed down, not stepping forward to interrupt their moment.

After descending the stairs, Ye An learned that the original chef at the inn was off sick, so a substitute was temporarily hired. Because of that, the food wasn’t as good as it would usually be.

Recalling how picky Eldest Young Master Xie was, Ye An called Xie Shuo to come downstairs, and the two of them went to a nearby restaurant that had good reviews. They ordered some dishes to go and brought them back to the inn.

When they were going upstairs, the lady boss of the inn handed her a bottle of their home-brewed rice wine and said it was the inn’s compensation gift.

The wine was very fragrant, so Ye An didn’t refuse and accepted it.

Back in the room, Ye An put down the food and guided Xie Shuo to the bathroom, so he could wash his hands.

As the splashes of water sounded, she leaned against the door, looking at his profile. She deliberately sighed, saying, “I just ran into Zhuang Yinian again just now. He treats her so well and even cooks for her at home!”

Xie Shuo continued to wash his hands, as if he didn’t hear her at all.

Ye An watched him fumble around to turn off the faucet. She handed him a towel and asked, “Do you know how to cook?”

Xie Shuo didn’t reply to her and slowly wiped his hands.

His fingers were slender and clean, almost resembling jade.

Ye An noticed his hands and was sure that he hadn’t done any hard labor in her heart. She reached a hand out to support him.

After leaving the bathroom, Xie Shuo was silent for a moment, and his thoughts were unclear. He suddenly stopped and said, “Which room do they live in?”

    Ye An: “?”

She was puzzled. “Why are you asking about this?”

Xie Shuo’s eyebrows furrowed, and his expression was serious. “Take me over there.”

Ye An became even more confused. Did he really fall for her teasing?

She immediately dismissed the idea. Her words didn’t have much influence over him, and he probably just wanted to talk to them about the development project from last time.

Ye An didn’t ask any more questions and guided him to Zhuang Yinian’s room to knock on the door.

The one who came to open the door turned out to be Yan Fei. He didn’t seem surprised seeing the two of them and had an indifferent expression.

Ye An softly smiled. “Mr. Yan, hello.”

Yan Fei politely responded, “Hello.” He then turned his gaze to Xie Shuo. “Do you need anything?”

Ye An turned to Xie Shuo, and Xie Shuo said to Yan Fei, “Mr. Yan, can we take a few minutes to talk?”

A’Fei, who is it?” Zhuang Yinian’s voice sounded from inside the room.

Yan Fei obviously knew of Xie Shuo’s identity, so he paused before saying, “Please come in.”

Ye An helped Xie Shuo in. Zhuang Yinian was sitting on the sofa with her phone with her legs propped up, but she was stunned upon seeing them and quickly straightened up while lowering her legs.

“What’s going on?” she asked Yan Fei in a low voice.

Yan Fei pet her head, looked down, and smiled. “Nothing, we just have something to discuss.” He turned to Xie Shuo and said, “Let’s go to the balcony.”

Ye An guided Xie Shuo to the balcony and returned to the room.

Zhuang Yinian made a cup of tea and handed it to her. “Please sit and make yourself comfortable.”

“Thank you.” Ye An smiled and sat down on the sofa with her.

On the balcony, the night breeze blew gently. Yan Fei looked at the person opposite him, and after waiting for a moment, he said, “Last time’s cooperation couldn’t be negotiated, so I’m sorry for that. If Mr. Xie has something to say, feel free to speak out.”

Xie Shuo looked up and slowly said, “I want to ask Mr. Yan about one thing.”

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 31

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 31

Early morning the second day, the two left the hotel and headed towards the nearest mountain during sunrise.

Since Xie Shuo’s eyes limited his movements, Ye An slowed down to guide him step by step. Xiao Yu followed behind them carrying a bag and occasionally supported him as well to be careful.

As the morning sun rose, illuminating the vast forest. A thin layer of mist permeated throughout the mountain paths and moistened their temples. The light flickered through the branches, creating fluttering shadows on the ground.

The mountain wasn’t tall, and the paths were fairly easy to walk, but since Ye An hadn’t exercised for a long time and couldn’t keep walking after an hour. She leaned against a boulder on the side of the path to catch her breath. On the other hand, Xie Shuo, the sick patient, looked all right except for a thin sheen of sweat on his forehead.

Ye An looked at him and regretted her choices. Why didn’t she choose a relaxing place for their honeymoon and instead picked a mountain to hike?

The only redeeming factor was that the views of the scenery were beautiful. The sunlight shone on the leaves and branches, and few people were passing by. The sounds of birds chirping could be faintly heard.

Ye An looked around before looking back towards Xie Shuo. Whether it be climbing a mountain or entering a lively crowd, this Eldest Young Master would probably refuse to come outside again.

After resting for a while, the two resumed their hike.

The sun’s position in the sky rose higher and higher, and the mist gradually dissipated. When they reached the pavilion halfway up the mountain, it was almost ten o’clock.

In consideration of Xie Shuo’s circumstances, Ye An didn’t continue hiking up the mountain. Instead, she helped him sit down at a table on the pavilion before sitting down on the other side.

Xiao Yu handed them some water. Ye An was refreshed after taking a few sips, and she turned to ask Xie Shuo, “Do you want some water?”

Before he could answer, she picked up another water bottle and stuffed it into his hands.

Although Xie Shuo wasn’t in as bad of a condition as Ye An was, he was still sweating. Ye An wiped the sweat off herself before turning to do the same for him. She asked softly, “Are your eyes okay?”

    Xie Shuo shook his head.

Looking at the scene in front of him, Xiao Yu felt as if his face was being stuffed with dog food. He quietly left to wait outside of the pavilion.

Ye An was too busy worrying to notice his expense. Xie Shuo had barely spoken two phrases the entire way here, and his face remained cold as if he were only here out of duty.

After wiping his sweat, Ye An leaned against the handrails to look over the pavilion and suddenly noticed Zhuang Yinian and Yan Fei again.

They seemed to have reached the top of the mountain and returned. Zhuang Yinian was holding a camera in her hands and was focusing on a shot. Because she was too focused to notice the people walking by, Yan Fei reached out and took her into his arms.

    Ye An: “…”

    How bittersweet.

There was no misery without comparison. Other couples’ honeymoons were sweet as honey, and they would stick to each other like glue. However, there was no sweetness in Ye An’s relationship no matter how hard she tried.

Ye An turned to look like the statue-like man without saying a word, her gaze slightly resentful.

Can’t you be a little more aware during our honeymoon!

As if feeling the strong resentment emanating from her, Xie Shuo finally looked at her, but he still looked cold.

Ye An’s heart stiffened, but she didn’t bother to talk to him.

She leaned over the handrail to look at Zhuang Yinian, who was taking another picture.

She hugged Xie Shuo’s arm. “Can we go take a picture?”

Before Xie Shuo could respond, he was dragged up and out of the pavilion.

Ye An dragged him to Zhuang Yinian, smiled, and greeted them, “Hey, stranger! Can you take a picture of me and my husband?”

Zhuang Yinian smiled and said, “Of course, I can.”

Yan Fei, who stood on the side, glanced at Xie Shuo with a complicated gaze and an indescribable expression.

Ye An guided Xie Shuo to a spot not too far away, and they stood side-by-side under a tree.

The sunlight poured through the tree tops and fell on their bodies, giving them a faint glow.

While Zhuang Yinian adjusted the focus on the camera, Ye An reached over to grasp Xie Shuo’s arm and lean into him as she smiled.

Unlike her, Xie Shuo maintained his cool appearance and remained expressionless.

After the picture was taken, Zhuang Yinian told her that the picture would be sent to her by that evening. She and Yan Fei continued to head down the mountain, but before walking far, Yan Fei kneeled down to carry her on his back.

Ye An took another critical hit and looked at Xie Shuo, who stood there quietly. His posture was tall and straight, his features were indifferent. The sunlight fell on his shoulders and softened his appearance.

When the wind gently blew, Ye An was entranced by him, and ripples spread in her heart.

She took out her phone and secretly opened the camera. She looked up, leaned towards his cheek, and posed as if she was about to kiss him.

Xie Shuo was originally waiting for her to guide him to some other place, but after waiting for a while and feeling no movement, he couldn’t help but feel a little strange.

He frowned and was about to ask her why they still hadn’t left when an image suddenly flashed before his eyes.

He was stunned and thought that it was his own hallucination.

A few seconds later, light flashed through his sight again.

His usually cold face wavered with emotion, and his fingers curled. He looked around and tried to detect Ye An’s location.

However, just as his head turned, his cheeks brushed against her lips.

    Ye An: “…”

Ye An originally wanted to secretly take a picture for the memory, but she didn’t expect that he would suddenly turn around and for the pose in the picture to suddenly become a reality.

    The scene suddenly became ambiguous.

Xie Shuo looked at her with his expression clearly saying: What are you trying to do?

Ye An felt somewhat guilty. Since the day that they discussed things through and agreed to an eventual divorce, she had not deliberately teased him. This was completely accidental.

“Why did you suddenly just turn your head?” Ye An preemptively questioned him and moved a strand of hair. “You have a leaf on your forehead; I’ll help you get it.”

Xie Shuo’s focus wasn’t on her this time, and he didn’t consider whether there was any truth in her words. His eyes widened as he tried to take a look, but… he wasn’t able to see anything, as if the flashes of light from before were just figments of his imagination.

Noticing that he hadn’t replied and that his brows were knitted, Ye An couldn’t help but think: It was just a kiss on the cheek; was he really going to be angry?

She took his arm and guided him back towards the path. “Let’s rest for a bit more before going back down.”

Xie Shuo tried to look at his surroundings, but there was still endless darkness. He loosened his hold on her and lowered his gaze. A tree’s shadow blocked the light from shining on his face.

The two went back and sat at the pavilion. After eating something to replenish their strength, they began their trek back down the mountain.

On their way down the mountain, Ye An muttered to herself, “Can’t we just be able to talk and laugh? We’re here for our honeymoon, and there’s no romance at all.”

Xie Shuo didn’t respond and continued to stroll unhurriedly, as if he was thinking about something.

Ye An glanced at his cold face and said deliberately in an envious tone, “I just saw that when Zhuang Yinian didn’t want to walk anymore, her husband carried her down the mountain without saying a word. He treats her so well…”

Xie Shuo finally had some sort of reaction. He turned to face her with an indifferent expression. “Do you want me to carry you?”

    Ye An: “…”

    Now that’s not very realistic.

Ye An swallowed her words and focused on walking. When she looked back up at his gloomy eyes, her heart softened. She smiled and changed the topic. “When we get back, let’s eat and then go to the hot springs. I planned our schedule for tomorrow too…”

Her voice was cheerful and filled with anticipation. As Xie Shuo listened, the coldness on his face gradually faded.

The mottled sunlight flickered on the mountain paths.

        —–

After reaching the base of the mountain, the two of them found a place to eat. Ye An then impatiently took Xie Shuo to the nearby hot spring villa.

She had once thought to fool him into going to the hot springs with her but never successfully did so. Now, today would finally count as her achieving this goal.

The hot spring was outside, and there were several laurel trees planted by the pool. The seasonal flowers were blooming, releasing a fragrance that could be smelled from far away.

Ye An changed into a swimsuit and put on a bathrobe. Xie Shuo also came out of the changing room at the same time.

Ye An guided him to the hot spring pool and didn’t find anything strange, but when Xie Shuo pulled on the waistband of the bathrobe and took it off, she stood there in a daze.

There was only a pair of swimming trunks left on the man’s body, with nothing obstructing the rest of the view. He had wide shoulders paired with a narrow waist, long legs, and ideal body proportions.

Ye An’s face was red, and her ears were hot. After coming out of her daze, she took off her own robe and helped him enter the water.

Without cloth separating their contact, her fair fingers climbed up his arm and could clearly feel his lean muscles. Her fingers seemed to have been burned by fire, and the heat spread to her cheeks.

The water in the pool rippled as she guided him to sit along the edge. She couldn’t resist sneaking another peek at him.

He seemed to be a lot thinner than before.

After hiking all morning, Ye An was exhausted and soaked quietly in the water. She had no energy to swim, so she just leaned against the pool edge like a weed.

She raised her head to display a delicate and slender chin and an elegant neck. Her slender legs were so fair that they glowed in the water.

The water rippled steadily across her chest.

She didn’t speak, so the whole hot spring pool remained quiet. Xie Shuo, who leaned on the side, couldn’t hear her voice and felt somewhat strange.

The sweet scent of the osmanthus flowers wafted over, and Ye An became a bit drowsy while soaking in the warm water. Her eyelashes drooped for a while before she got up to change her position.

She laid down on her stomach at the edge of the pool, which showed off her fair and delicate shoulder blades.

When Xie Shuo heard her movement, he turned to face that direction.

“If you want a drink, just let me know.” Ye An rested her head on her arms, and her fingers pinched and spun a fallen flower.

As Xie Shuo faced her, a vague image suddenly appeared in front of him. He was unable to see a specific outline as if the scene was painted by a random inkblot on paper.

He paused to be sure that it wasn’t a hallucination before reaching out to touch it.

Ye An, who was drowsily laying down at the edge of the pool, felt a hand suddenly touching her back. She subconsciously shrank back, and goosebumps appeared on her skin.

She turned her head and stared blankly at the man who put his hand on her back. She asked, dazed, “What… are you doing?”

His hands were warm and soft. Xie Shuo froze for a few moments before withdrawing his hand without any expression on his face.

    Ye An: ???

This was the third time, right? Are you addicted to the touch?

Xie Shuo stared at her as the image in front of him slowly disappeared and faded back into the boundless darkness.

After experiencing this situation twice now, Xie Shuo had already begun to get used to it. He turned back around without any fluctuations in his emotions.

Ye An was bored at first, but after seeing him like this, she couldn’t help but want to tease him. Leaning against the pool wall, she pointed her foot, kicked his calf, and then softly rubbed the area after doing so.

Xie Shuo turned back to face her.

Ye An smiled triumphantly and openly since he wasn’t able to see it. However, before she could relish in her small victory, her legs suddenly softened, and she fell forwards.

Her legs kneeled. She instinctively reached her arms out to hug him, but her face planted into his waist and made intimate contact.

    Ye An: “…”

It was an embarrassing and shameful position.

Ye An froze on the spot. Her face flushed, and her earlobes burned.

The steam in the pool felt suffocating.

She forgot to react and stayed in that rigid posture for a while until the man’s deep voice sounded, “Are you not getting up?”

Ye An’s heart trembled, and she quickly recovered. Since she had been in the water for too long and she had accidentally hit her knees just now, her legs went soft again as she hastily grabbed his arm to get up.

As a result, she once again threw herself into his arms and fell into his embrace.

    Ye An: “…”

There wasn’t something in the pool water, right?

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 30.2

Ye An took a purse with her and went downstairs. Not long after, she came across Zhuang Yinian again, who was also alone.

Ye An smiled. “What a coincidence seeing you again. Was that your husband just now?”

Zhuang Yinian smiled and replied, “Yes, he’s in a video meeting right now, and I was bored, so I came down to see if there was any food nearby. What about you?”

Ye An laughed, saying, “The same as you.”

Since the two had the same goal in mind, they chatted and strolled together.

Zhuang Yinian was easy to get along with, and she resembled the girl next door. As they talked, Ye An deliberately asked a few questions about the development case, but she didn’t ask too much in fear of speaking rashly.

Many small businesses were selling various snacks and fruits near the hotel. In the end, Ye An bought some fruits, snacks, and a few snack bags before returning to the hotel room.

Xie Shuo was still sitting on the sofa and had just seemed to fall asleep.

The hotel couldn’t compare to their house. Since he was unfamiliar with the room layout and furnishings, he couldn’t freely move around. Ye An put his food on the coffee table and asked him, “Do you want to go wash your face?”

Xie Shuo got up, and Ye An supported him over to the sink. She took his hands and put them under the faucet.

Xie Shuo didn’t move. Instead, he “looked” to the side as if he was looking for something.

Ye An was confused, but then she had an idea. “Do you need to use the bathroom?”

Xie Shuo didn’t speak, but the expression on his face answered her question.

“The toilet is in the corner on the left.” Ye An guided him to it before turning to leave and closing the door.

After closing the door, she vaguely heard the sound of a belt unfastening.

Ye An’s face became hot. It was slightly strange for them to be in an unfamiliar place.

After a while, Xie Shuo fumbled with opening the bathroom door. He rushed into the room and said, “Get me a towel.”

Ye An took a towel from the closet, and instead of handing it directly to him, she personally wiped his face.

Nowadays, he never refused her doing simple things for him; sometimes, he even took the initiative to ask her for things. If it weren’t for his cold face and his habit of ignoring others, it would really feel like they were an old couple.

After wiping his face, Ye An guided him to the sofa and helped him sit down. She laid out the snacks one by one and said, “I bought braised chicken feet, osmanthus lotus root, crab buns, and shrimp crystal dumplings. What do you want to eat?”

Eldest Young Master Xie had his standard expression filled with indifference and disgust: What kind of junk food are you buying?

Ye An noticed his disgust at first glance and was unreconciled. “Of course, you have to try new things when you travel. What’s with your expression?”

    Xie Shuo didn’t speak.

“If you don’t want to eat this, then wait for the hotel to deliver food.”

Ye An grabbed the chopsticks, picked up a crystal shrimp dumpling, and put it in her mouth. It was surprisingly good.

She looked up at Xie Shuo and brought a dumpling to his mouth. “These shrimp dumplings are really good. How about you try one?”

Xie Shuo was motionless for a few moments before opening his mouth.

Ye An smiled, satisfied. “How is it? I’m right, right?”

Afterwards, she tried the crab buns and gave him one.

Outside the window, the last thread of sunlight was captured by the mountains as the stars on the horizon twinkled faintly.

After finishing the snacks, Ye An washed the grapes she bought and put them in a fruit bowl. She brought them and Xie Shuo to the balcony to enjoy the serenity and the night view of the mountains.

The bright moon hung diagonally in the indigo sky and shone softly, contrasting the harsh man-made lights.

Ye An peeled a grape and brought it to Xie Shuo’s lips, who no longer regarded her with disdain and opened his mouth to take it.

Ye An retracted her hand and peeled another one for him.

The moon was clear, and the early autumn wind was cool. The two sat in peace without talking and enjoyed the tranquility.

Ye An appreciated the moon and stars for a while before turning to look at Xie Shuo.

The man’s features were softened by the moonlight and made his brows and eyes look tender and ethereal.

Ye An looked at him and suddenly asked, “Let me ask you a question. Have you ever… come across something special?”

Xie Shuo turned his head and faced her upon hearing the sound.

Ye An said softly, “For example, like a hero rescuing a princess?”

Xie Shuo’s brows moved slightly as if not completely understanding her question.

“I was just casually wondering. Forget it if you don’t.”

Ye An quickly shifted her gaze and picked up a grape and peeled it. Her eyelashes drooped, and her features were glowing with a soft brilliance.

After she finished peeling the grape, she brought it to his mouth. “Here’s another one.”

Xie Shuo opened his mouth, but because he wasn’t able to judge the distance, he not only captured the grape in his mouth, but he captured her fingers as well.

His lips pressed against her fair fingertips, and a tingling feeling spread across her limbs.

    Ye An froze.

The world and all living things suddenly seemed to go quiet, and the night sky was vast and empty.

    The evening quietly became ambiguous.

The scene froze for a second before Xie Shuo quickly opened his lips, and Ye An quickly retracted her fingers.

Her fingertips were hot, and her ears were hot. Even her chest was warm.

The night breeze fluttered past, but it didn’t make any difference.

After a moment of silence, Xie Shuo supported himself using the table to stand up. On the rare instance that he took the initiative to speak, he said, “Rest early; we’re going out tomorrow.”

Ye An seemed to have just recovered. She reached out to support his arm, but her face was tinted red.

It really was easy for things to happen during their honeymoon.

Ye An helped Xie Shuo walk to the bathroom. She retrieved a change of clothes for him before turning around and waiting outside.

        ——

When they both finished showering, the previous ambiguity hadn’t seemed to dissipate and instead filled the room.

Xie Shuo wore a white bathrobe and leaned against the headboard. His face was cold, his collarbone was sharp, and his slender hands were on top of the quilt.

Ye An was inexplicably flustered and decided that it was too quiet, so she decided to put on some entertainment radio to ease the tension.

Hence, she pulled out a radio drama on her phone and said to Xie Shuo, “It’s still early. If you can’t sleep, do you want to listen to a radio show?”

Xie Shuo didn’t object to her suggestion, so Ye An pressed the play button and put her phone on the bed before turning around to do her skincare routine before bed.

The sound of the radio drama sounded throughout the room, and it finally eased the tension and made it feel like they were back at home.

After finishing skincare, Ye An pulled the comforter up and got into bed. As her legs reached under the covers, she said, “The heroine’s voice is me. Can you tell?”

As soon as she spoke, they heard a sound that made their faces red.

    “Ugh…don’t…”

The prolonged protest echoed throughout the room and sounded suspicious.

Xie Shuo turned his head, and his expression was obvious: So this is what you record?

    Ye An: “…”

The atmosphere instantly froze, and Ye An also froze for a few seconds before frantically rushing to turn the radio off.

How could she forget that this radio drama was recorded in one hour and was recorded for fun a long time ago? The nature of the drama was somewhat…unbearable to handle.

The audio was turned off, and the room suddenly quietened down again.

Ye An looked at Xie Shuo, not knowing what to say.

There was nothing to say to each other, and silence reigned.

Silence would be the mode of operandi for you and I tonight.

The atmosphere became even more ambiguous than before, and Ye An felt every pore of hers fill with embarrassment, making her scalp go numb and her limbs soft.

After some time passed, Xie Shuo suddenly coldly said, “Take fewer roles like this in the future.”

Ye An instinctively wanted to refute: Do you think a career in dubbing means that I can choose whatever role I want to take? When a scene demands it, you have to read the script no matter how shameful it is!

Considering the embarrassing situation she was in currently, she resisted that urge and softly explained, “This was made for fun a long time ago; it wasn’t aired.”

Xie Shuo didn’t say anything and laid down on his side.

She turned the light off, and the room went quiet.

However, the trace of tension still seemed to pervade the air. Ye An bent her legs and turned over silently.

It seemed like their honeymoon was going to be surely eventful.

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 30.1

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 30.1

Ye An stared at the robot in front of her–

Wait, no, it should be the robot penguin that stared at her for quite a while.

…Is there something wrong with Xie Shuo’s brain?

In the end, the penguin was placed in the bedroom for the time being. The delivery men gave her a smart pet instruction manual before leaving.

Holding the instruction manual, Ye An looked at the adorable “pet” in front of her in a complicated mood.

She stepped forward to try to pet its head.

As soon as she touched it, a cute voice sounded, “Master, I’m hungry~”

Ye An couldn’t hold back her snort of joy.

    It was pretty cute.

She followed the instructions on the instruction manual to press the feeding button and feed the penguin. She touched its tiny wings and read through the manual for a while before turning to go to the study.

Xie Shuo sat by the window as indifferent as usual and contrasted sharply with the cute penguin in the bedroom.

Ye An walked over and stopped in front of him. Her lips curled, and she asked, “You had people send the penguin over?”

Xie Shuo didn’t say anything, nor did he look up to acknowledge her.

It was really hard to tell.

It was as if Ye An had flowers blooming and the sun shining splendidly in her heart. She sat down beside him and tilted her head. “I chose a place called Qianyue Mountain for our honeymoon; what do you think?”

Xie Shuo finally replied by saying, “Whatever you want.”

Ye An put her elbows on her legs and propped her chin up. After looking at him for a moment, she considered ending the cold war. After all, for Eldest Young Master Xie, conceding to this step was a huge accomplishment on her part.

She asked him, “Do you want to pet the little penguin you bought?”

Xie Shuo didn’t say anything and obviously didn’t want to do such a pointless thing.

Ye An hugged his arm and pulled him up. “Go pet it; it’s so cute!”

Xie Shuo remained indifferent but didn’t pull away and allowed her to drag him to the bedroom.

Ye An placed his hand on the penguin’s head and said, “Say hi to your new dad.”

Penguin: “Master, I really like you!”

    Xie Shuo: “…”

Ye An had to bow her head and ask, “Do you only know how to say one sentence?”

The cute voice immediately retorted: “No! No!”

Ye An happily leaned against Xie Shuo and looked up at him. “This is your son; isn’t it cute?”

    Son?

Xie Shuo frowned upon hearing this title and felt as if something wasn’t quite right.

“Isn’t son just the abbreviated version of penguin?*” Ye An looked at him with a twinkle in her eyes, “You don’t like calling it that? How about we call it… Xiao Xie?”

*penguin in chinese is qi e(企鹅), and shortening it to e zi (鹅子) makes it sound similar to the word son, which is er zi(儿子).

    Xie Shuo was speechless.

Ye An’s smile deepened. “That won’t work; there’s already a Xiao Xie in the family. How about Xiao Shuo?”

    Xie Shuo’s face darkened.

Ye An teased him a little more before stopping. Afterward, she turned towards the penguin and asked softly as she pet its wings, “Are you a boy or girl?”

“Then it’s a daughter.” Ye An thought for a while and said, “Let’s call you Yinyin then.”

The two played with their newly adopted “daughter” for a while before heading downstairs to have lunch.

The tension that was present for the past two days had finally disappeared.

        —–

In the afternoon, Ye An suddenly received a call from Xiang Quan.

Xiang Quan hadn’t contacted her unless it was important during this time, so after picking up the call, Ye An said, “You don’t have to tell me if there’s a new role; I don’t have any time recently.”

Xiang Quan choked a bit and said, “It’s not a new role, but it is a voice acting competition show. I wanted to ask if you wanted to participate.”

Ye An hesitated for a few seconds before replying, “Just turn it down for me; I really can’t go.”

Xiang Quan was puzzled. “What are you doing that makes you so busy? This is a really good opportunity. Don’t you want to show your face in the industry after getting exposure?”

Ye An smiled, saying, “I’m going on a honeymoon with my husband.”

    Xiang Quan: “…”

He was a single dog that was dumped by his ex-girlfriend. What did he do to deserve such a hurtful display of PDA?

“They start recording in October. How long are you going to spend on your honeymoon?”

Xie Shuo’s eyes made it inconvenient for them to vacation more than a week, but Ye An was still nervously anticipating Xie Shuo’s next round of treatment. She said, “Can’t you go? You can go promote the studio.”

Xiang Quan replied, “They’re looking for female guests.”

Ye An thought about it and said, “I don’t know if I can find the time in October. You can reject the offer.”

Xiang Quan was hopeless after hearing her unwavering tone and no longer tried to persuade her. He ended the call with a “that’s fine” and hung up the phone.

        ——

When Xie Baiyan came back that evening, Ye An told him about the spot she picked for the honeymoon, and Xie Baiyan quickly agreed.

They would be susceptible to sunburn and dehydration if they traveled now that the summer heatwaves were in full force, so they pushed the data to the end of August.

The day they left, there were no clouds in the sky.

When Ye An and Xie Shuo arrived at the largest hotel at the base of Qianyue Mountain, a thin layer of sweat covered their bodies.

The bodyguard that had accompanied them went to the front desk to help them check-in while the two rested on the side.

There were not as many tourists before the Mid-Autumn Festival, so there were few people in the lobby. Ye An supported Xie Shuo as she looked around, but she suddenly noticed an attractive figure in front of them and to the right.

It was a young man in a white shirt. He was lean, with wide shoulders and a narrow waist. His features were clean and crisp, and his temperament could be described as “clear as the cool breeze and bright moon, but noble as the tall mountains and icy snow.”

After getting married and seeing Xie Shuo every day, Ye An’s standards for beauty have skyrocketed. However, this man’s features still made her do a double-take.

She turned to look at Xie Shuo. He wore a pair of sunglasses today and an indifferent expression. The two of them looked like strangers, not as if they were on a honeymoon in the slightest.

Ye An’s mind churned. She tapped his arm and whispered, “Hubby, there’s a handsome man over there!”

Xie Shuo pursed his lips, tilted his head, and ignored her.

“He’s really handsome!” Ye An grabbed his arm excitedly, her voice rising with enthusiasm.

    Xie Shuo frowned.

At this moment, Xiao Yu came over and told them that all of the check-in procedures had been taken care of.

Xie Shuo faced him with a dark expression.

Xiao Yu: ??? Did I do something wrong?

Ye An guided Xie Shuo to the elevator while she observed his expression and smiling sneakily.

Their room was on the fourth floor. When they arrived at their door, and Ye An was about to swipe their card to enter, she suddenly caught sight of the man in the white shirt

he was living in the room next to theirs.

Moreover, a young girl was  holding on to his arm affectionately. It was Zhuang Yinian, whom Ye An had run into outside of the recording studio last time.

    ……

    Was this man…Yan Fei?

Zhuang Yinian coincidentally also turned to see Ye An.

“What a coincidence! You’re here on vacation too?”

    Ye An smiled. “Yep.”

The two had not contacted each other after the last time they met, so their relationship wasn’t deep. They politely greeted each other before heading into their respective rooms.

Xiao Yu helped bring their suitcases into the room before leaving.

As soon as he left, Ye An eagerly pulled Xie Shuo to talk. “It turns out that that man was Yan Fei. I didn’t expect him to be so handsome.”

When Xie Yuran had given her Yan Fei’s information, there was no picture of him in the file.

Xie Shuo’s focus wasn’t on who the man was. He coldly reminded her, “He’s married.”

    “?”

Ye An was baffled: I know he’s married! I just said hi to his wife.

Xie Shuo felt his way around for the sofa and sat down. He took off his sunglasses and unbuttoned the top button of his shirt.

After a few moments, Ye An finally understood what was going on. Her lips curved as she said, “Marriage doesn’t stop someone from looking good!”

Xie Shuo’s face sank, and he ignored her.

Ye An was in a joyful mood as she sat beside him. She asked, tilting her head, “Speaking of which, how did your brother do with the negotiation?”

Xie Shuo leaned back and closed his eyes, clearly unwilling to talk about him.

Their cold war had just ended, yet he started to ignore her again! Ye An’s chest felt constricted, and she no longer bothered with him. Instead, she opened the suitcase and hung their clothes in the closet.

The sun sloped diagonally. At this point in time, it was too late to explore the city, so the two decided to rest early and do it tomorrow.

Ye An arranged the rest of the clothes, washed her face, and walked to the balcony.

The evening breeze was gentle, contrasting the dazzling colors of the clouds on the horizon. The mountains in the distance seemed to continuously extend as waves. The views were beautiful, and the air was fresh.

She was even able to catch a glimpse of the pedestrians on the streets.

Ye An enjoyed the breeze for a while before turning around and asking Xie Shuo, “Do you want to go down and see if there’s anything good to eat nearby?”

Xie Shuo pinched his temples and said tiredly, “Go by yourself.”

Seeing that he wasn’t feeling well, Ye An didn’t push it. She walked back into the room, the sun rays glowing on the floor behind her.

“Then I’ll go take a look and bring back something for you.”

Xie Shuo gave a light “En” in response.

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 29

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 29

After talking, the tension between the two had eased and felt as if they returned to before the wedding happened.

Of course, Eldest Young Master Xie still had a cold face, making the situation no different.

That night, Xie Baiyan never returned, leaving the villa as quiet as still water.

As usual, Ye An picked out a set of clothes for Xie Shuo and ran a bath for him. However, she did not speak a word to him from beginning to end.

Xie Shuo noticed her shift in character but didn’t apologize to express his remorse. Instead, he became even more silent than before.

After bathing, he resumed his habit of sitting on the sofa and facing the French windows.

Ye An came out of the bathroom to see his desolate figure. She walked subconsciously forward and stopped when she remembered that she was still angry at him. Instead, she headed straight to bed.

Did you think that I would forgive you so easily? In your dreams!

Ye An secretly cursed him as she laid down in bed, but she was still inexplicably irritated. After tossing and turning for a while, she still couldn’t sleep.

After some time, there was finally some movement from the other side, and a familiar scent came nearer.

Ye An awkwardly wiggled to the side of the bed to make space for him while still having her back faced away from him.

Xie Shuo paused when he heard her moving before closing his eyes.

That night, Ye An didn’t sleep well. When she woke up the next morning, there were bags under her eyes.

After eating breakfast, she didn’t go anywhere. Yawning, she went to play games on her phone on their sofa in their bedroom.

Xie Shuo went to the study, so she was alone in the room.

Suddenly a voice message popped up on her screen. She squinted and tapped it.

Shi Shuangshuang’s excited voice sounded, “An An! You’ve made it!”

Ye An was startled out of her drowsy state. She pressed the microphone icon and brought the phone closer to her. “What do you mean?”

Shi Shuangshuang: “Haven’t you checked the internet? The song you recorded for “Pharmacy” is in the top five for this week’s music chart!”

In the time that Ye An had taken to accompany Xie Shuo to the treatment institute, the anime “Pharmacy” aired, and its public reception was quite good. Coupled with the promotions that Brilliant Dream’s public relations team aired, the popularity of all the posts about the anime soared, which brought the theme song that Ye An recorded with it.

Not only that, Brilliant Dreams seemed to have especially publicized her. Her follower count on Weibo had increased exponentially recently, surpassing all the other characters and posts.

She casually clicked on her profile to be instantly blown away by the sheer number of confession and fawning posts she was tagged in.

Ye An slowly typed out her reply: [Oh, it seems there’s not a lot of competition in the music charts this week.]

    Shi Shuangshuang: […]

Shi Shuangshuang: [Speaking of which, where have you been for the past two months? It’s like you vanished into thin air–no Weibo posts, no texts, no hanging out or anything.]

Ye An: [Didn’t I tell you that I was taking care of my husband?]

Shi Shuangshuang: [Your husband is still sick? What is he sick with, and why hasn’t he been healed yet?]

Ye An’s fingertips paused before replying, [Nothing serious, we’ve already returned home.]

    Shi Shuangshuang: [That’s good, then.]

Shi Shuangshuang: [Do you want to hang out? There’s an anime convention at the exhibition hall today, and I invited Yimiao and some others.]

Ye An thought about it and replied: [Not today, I’m a little tired. I’ll go next time, but you guys have fun.]

Xie Baiyan should be coming back today. Although she was currently having a cold war with Xie Shuo, they still had to pretend in front of Xie Baiyan.

        —-

The summer weather was volatile, and it began raining after lunch.

The raindrops pitter-pattered on the leaves and branches of the trees while Ye An wrapped herself in a thin blanket and slept in the room.

She vaguely heard the door open, and someone walked in with light footsteps.

Ye An tried her best to open her eyes and saw a fuzzy outline, but she was too sleepy and closed them again, ignoring the figure.

When she woke up, the rain had stopped. The sky was gloomy and filled with clouds, hinting at more rain.

Ye An walked to the balcony to get a breath of fresh air and saw a familiar car in the distance driving through the garden. It was Xie Baiyan returning.

She hurried back into the room to wash her face before going to the study to find Xie Shuo.

After pushing open the door, she found Xie Shuo leaning against the sofa, fast asleep.

A sliver of light entered through the curtains. He tilted his head and frowned with his lips pursed tightly, as if he was having a nightmare.

There was a sickly hue to his face. His lips were pale, which made him look even more haggard.

Ye An stood near him and watched him before sighing. She resigned to her fate, brought a blanket over, and carefully covered him.

But as soon as the blanket covered him, her wrist was grabbed.

He slowly opened his eyes, and even though he couldn’t see, Ye An was still flustered.

It was too embarrassing to be caught in this position.

His hands were a bit cold, and his fingers were slender. Ye An thought back to the shame that she felt being pressed under him yesterday, and she became even more embarrassed and uncomfortable. She retracted her wrist and struggled to free herself from his grip.

This time Xie Shuo didn’t use much strength to hold her, so he let go of her and sat up.

The blanket slid off of him and settled around his waist, covering his legs. Ye An didn’t want him to misunderstand, so she reluctantly said, “Father-in-law came back.”

So it wasn’t me purposely trying to be nice to you.

Xie Shuo didn’t say anything, so it was unclear whether or not he understood her meaning. He stood up from the sofa.

Ye An reluctantly raised her arm to support him downstairs.

Xie Baiyan didn’t notice anything different between the two, and everything went as usual.

During dinner, Xie Baiyan’s gaze suddenly caught Ye An’s wrist. “An An, what happened to your wrist?”

Ye An froze for a moment before looking down. The bruises on her fair skin were particularly conspicuous.

…You’ll have to ask your son about that.

Recalling what happened yesterday, Ye An glanced at Xie Shuo and smiled. “Nothing, I accidentally bumped into the nightstand before going to sleep last night.”

Who hurts their wrist like that by bumping into a nightstand?

Xie Baiyan was not a fool and could tell that her bruises could not have come from a nightstand. He noticed her glance at Xie Shuo and guessed the situation, but he didn’t say anything more.

There was a subtle shift in the atmosphere.

Xie Baiyan went with her excuse and said, “I’ll have someone find you some ointment then.”

Ye An smiled gently and replied, “En.”

To the side, Xie Shuo listened to their conversation, and the hand that held his chopsticks paused. An emotion flashed across his normally cold face.

After a while, Xie Baiyan suddenly said, “Do you guys want to make up your honeymoon and find a place to relax?”

Ye An was originally drinking soup, but she choked upon hearing such a sudden question. She raised her head and looked at Xie Baiyan.

Xie Baiyan met her gaze with a gentle smile.

Ye An wondered if he had been Grandfather Xie. They probably intended for the honeymoon to be a chance for her and Xie Shuo to develop some romantic feelings, so they could have a child sooner.

But was Xie Shuo up for this? Would someone who constantly shut himself in a room all day be willing to go on a honeymoon with her?

Ye An couldn’t help but glance at Xie Shuo, who remained calm and as if he hadn’t heard the question.

“An An, do you know where you want to go?” Xie Baiyan asked again.

Ye An smiled. “I’m okay with anything, so it’ll be up to Xie Shuo.”

Xie Baiyan also glanced at Xie Shuo and said, “Then you guys can discuss it by yourselves.”

        —-

It rained again in the evening.

After Ye An showered, she was surprised to find that Xie Shuo was sitting in bed instead of on the sofa. His expression was still cold, and his thoughts were indiscernible.

Refusing to concede in this cold war, Ye An sat at the edge of the bed and drew her legs up.

Xie Shuo listened to the rustling sounds beside him and suddenly said, “Did you put on the ointment?”

    Ye An: “…”

Ye An was stunned for a moment before she realized that he was talking about the ointment for her wrist. She couldn’t help but be somewhat flattered by the attention; it was as if the sun had risen from the west today since he showed some semblance of care for her.

Ye An raised her wrist and kneaded it. She frowned, deliberately saying, “I don’t need to; it wasn’t broken or anything.”

Xie Shuo pursed his lips and resumed his usual indifferent expression.

Ye An’s gaze swept across hin and suddenly stopped–

The man’s robe had an open collar, and there were several red scratches on his chest and collarbone, which made for a ghastly sight.

…She really didn’t go easy on him yesterday.

Ye An felt a little better and thought: Good thing it wasn’t his face.

She pulled the covers up and was about to go to sleep when the cold voice sounded again–

“Where do you want to go?”

Ye An was shocked once again: what did that mean?

A trace of discomfort flashed across Xie Shuo’s face. He paused before saying lightly, “Didn’t you say you wanted a honeymoon?”

    Ye An: …Are you serious?

Ye An was stunned. What was going on today?

She stared at him in disbelief and read emotion from his face that had been indifferent for years–if she was guessing correctly, he was trying to apologize for what happened yesterday?

    But this…was so strange!

However, Ye An didn’t want to forgive him so easily.

Of course, the important part was that she hadn’t thought of a place to go to.

    So she said, “Antarctica.”

    Xie Shuo: “?”

Ye An repeated, “I want to go to Antarctica.”

    Xie Shuo: “…”

Xie Shuo was silent for a few seconds before asking, “Why do you want to go to Antarctica?”

Ye An: “To see the penguins, of course! I’ve never seen a live penguin!”

    Xie Shuo: “…”

Ye An glanced at the expression on his face and raised her chin, her lips curling. “What, we can’t go to Antarctica for the honeymoon?”

Xie Shuo noticed that she was deliberately teasing him and no longer responded. His eyelashes drooped, and his lips pressed together.

The last trace of annoyance in her heart disappeared, and Ye An complained with a cheerful expression, “If you don’t want to go to Antarctica, then just pretend that I never mentioned it.”

After she finished speaking, she brushed her hair to one side and laid down.

Xie Shuo leaned against the headboard and sat quietly for a while before lying down.

That night, Ye An slept well. Not only was the sleep good, but she also had a dream.

She dreamed that she and Xie Shuo went to Antarctica for their honeymoon. In the vast icescape, the two were surrounded by a huddle of penguins, one of which took the initiative to rush into her arms.

She happily held the penguin in her arms and pet it. However, the more she pet it, the more she felt like something was off–why was this penguin warm? And why was this penguin hard?

She frowned and opened her eyes to find that the penguin she was holding was not a penguin at all but Xie Shuo.

She had also apparently woken him up. Xie Shuo had his eyes open, as if he was thinking about whether or not to push her away.

    Ye An: “…”

    Why can’t I control myself?

The morning light shone through the window and scattered onto the bed. Ye An was embarrassed for approximately two seconds before letting it go, getting out of bed, and pretending that nothing happened.

Ye An took the morning to turn on her computer and start researching popular tourist destinations and suitable locations for their honeymoon.

It couldn’t be too far because it would be inconvenient for Xie Shuo as he was still taking medication. The sun couldn’t be too strong because it wouldn’t be good for his eyes. It couldn’t be too well-known, but most of the famous scenic attractions in China were really crowded.

After researching for the whole morning, Ye An finally picked a suitable place. It was near the city and was a scenic location called “Qianyue Mountain.” The moon and lakes were said to be particularly beautiful, and the area wasn’t too developed. There were also hotels nearby.

After choosing the place, Ye An got up and intended on going to the study to find Xie Shuo and discuss her choices with him. When she left the bedroom, she saw Aunt Zhou randomly leading two delivery men upstairs.

The two men carried a large cardboard box that was half her height, but it was unclear what was inside.

Seeing her, Aunt Zhou had the two people put down the package. She asked, “Madam, where should this go?”

Ye An was puzzled. “What is it?”

Aunt Zhou had the two people remove the cardboard box, and a tall penguin appeared in front of Ye An. It seemed to be a robot, but it was extremely realistic.

    Ye An: ???

Aunt Zhou: “Eldest Young Master said that this was for Madam.”

To show the “penguin’s” ability, one of the delivery men pressed the penguin’s switch, which made the penguin flap its tiny fins and say, “Master, I really like you!”

    Ye An: “…”

  • You’re So Arrogant Chapter 28

    You’re So Arrogant Chapter 28

The man’s breath fell on her face, cold as the winter snow.

Ye An was completely stunned and only somewhat recovered her senses when lips kissed her eyelids.

His lips were cold, causing even his kisses to be chilly. One fell on her eyes, and another fell on her brows.

Ye An: …Can you kiss me yet!

As if he could read her thoughts, his fingers moved from her chin to part her red lips.

A cold kiss swept across the tip of her nose before landing precisely on her lips.

Xie Shuo didn’t give her any time to adjust before pressing his lips against hers.

Ye An was so stunned by the kiss that she kept her eyes open to see his long eyelashes and sharp features. The physical feeling of his lips against hers was an unfamiliar one, and she went to take some air.

With a fuzzy mind, she subconsciously lifted her chin, and her eyelashes fluttered.

The summer weather was sunny, and even though the curtains were closed, a sliver of light flickered through the gaps.

Suddenly, there was a pain in her neck. The man’s lips had moved unknowingly to the side of her neck, and her slender hand had let go of her jaw and moved elsewhere.

The material of the long skirt was light, soft, and the layers were crumpled without mercy.

Ye An was stunned by the prick of pain and felt that something was off. She subconsciously pulled away.

His actions didn’t seem like they were an effort to scare her–and even less of an effort to joke around.

But she didn’t tease him too much today, did she? Wasn’t she just telling him a joke? He was usually indifferent to these things anyway, so why was his reaction so extreme today?

Ye An was pinned to the sofa with thoughts racing through her mind. She didn’t know whether to resist or submit.

Through her confusion, she felt a slender yet strong hand reaching down her torso that seemed to be searching for the zipper to her dress, but it seemed to be unable to do so.

Ye An was somewhat uneasy by the suddenness of the situation and grabbed his arm, her fingertips turning white due to force.

She made an attempt to push him away to talk to him about taking it slow, so she could give herself time to mentally prepare. However, her slender wrist was captured and clasped to the edge of the sofa in the next moment.

She wanted to raise her legs, but they were pinned down tightly, preventing her from moving.

    “Hey, calm–”

Before she could finish saying “Calm down,” she suddenly heard the sound of ripping cloth.

Ye An’s shoulders went cold, and her eyes suddenly widened.

This was my new dress! I’ve only worn it once!

Ye An looked up to face the man’s cold and indifferent face. His high nose and thin lips held no trace of emotion, and his deep eyes exuded strong hostility.

…He was simply venting his emotions.

Ye An’s heart froze. The sliver of emotion that came from his kiss dissipated instantly and was replaced by a chilling sense of humiliation.

She came back to her senses, and raised both her hands to push against him, and began kicking her legs.

“What are you doing? Let go of me! This is marital sexual assault…”

Her slender hands scratched and hit him recklessly, but they didn’t do much. Compared to him, her strength was pitiful.

    “Xie Shuo!”

She shouted as forcefully as she could, and the man’s actions finally paused.

Taking advantage of his hesitance, she reached out to grab a pillow that had fallen to the ground and hit it on his head.

Xie Shuo loosened his hold, and Ye An pushed him away in one movement and fell to the ground in embarrassment.

Dismissing the pain, she quickly got up and stumbled away, knocking into the desk on the side.

When she hit the desk, the white porcelain teacup that sat at the corner of the table fell to the ground with a crisp sound.

The broken pieces of porcelain shattered on her bare feet, and the tea soaked her soles.

    “Are you crazy?”

Ye An held onto the table tightly. Her hair was scattered, her breathing was unstable, and her chest undulated violently.

The strap of her dress had been torn and hung miserably on her body. She had no other option than to hold the strap up herself.

Xie Shuo seemed to have sobered up when he heard the sound of the teacup shattering. He sat down on the sofa. He propped his forehead up with his hands and no longer made any large movements.

In contrast to Ye An’s disheveled appearance, Xie Shuo’s clothes were still neat–only a button on the collar of his shirt having been loosened from the situation. He looked cold as if the madman from just seconds earlier was not him.

Ye An looked at him as she suddenly recalled the things he knew and the things he didn’t remember… her eyes slowly turned red.

Her nose began to run, and the corners of her eyes were damp from tears that she forcibly held back.

“I understand that you’re not feeling well, but why do you have to lash out at me? It wasn’t me that harmed you to this state! After I married you, at any point did I deserve for you to treat me like this? What do you take me for?”

Her voice choked at the end of her words.

Xie Shuo looked down and remained silent.

Ye An couldn’t say much more and didn’t want to see him anymore, so she wiped her tears and walked around the shattered porcelain on the ground to leave the room.

As soon as she stepped out of the study, she saw Aunt Zhou standing not far away.

She had obviously heard the commotion coming from inside and had a worried expression on her face.

Ye An paused and felt only embarrassment facing her. She avoided her gaze and quickly entered the bedroom.

        ——-

The lights in the closet turned on automatically. She closed her eyes for a moment and calmed down before choosing a comfortable and homey dress to wear. After changing, she wasn’t in the mood to do anything else, so she sat at the edge of the bed in a daze.

Outside the French windows, the day was bright and the vegetation lush. Even the faint sounds of the cicadas could be heard, contrasting the stillness of the room.

After a while, Ye An went to the bathroom to wash her face and brush her hair.

The clear mirror reflected a sorry figure with swollen red lips. It looked as if she had been taken advantage of in a vague and indescribable setting.

Ye An put one hand against the sink surface and observed herself in the mirror. She stretched out her index finger to touch her lips, which were still in pain.

She frowned and moved closer. After tilting her neck and pulling the collar away, she found hickeys on her neck and collarbone. There was a dull ache in her chest.

    …Beast!

If I had seen this earlier, I should have hit him harder and kicked him again!

After cleaning herself up, Ye An became angrier and angrier. She intended to play some games to vent her emotions, but even after looking around upstairs  for a while, she couldn’t find her phone.

She stopped by the bed and suddenly remembered that the phone was in her bag, and she left the bag in the living room downstairs after returning home.

Her mind really was muddled by anger!

Ye An put on a new pair of slippers and went downstairs to get her bag from the living room.

Aunt Zhou seemed to be waiting for her. Seeing Ye An come down, Aunt Zhou picked up her bag and quickly stepped forward to ask, “Where is Madam going?”

Ye An looked up to catch a glimpse of the nervous look on Aunt Zhou’s face and could immediately tell what she was thinking. Aunt Zhou was afraid of her going back to her maiden family to complain.

Ye An couldn’t help but smile and felt that Aunt Zhou was worrying too much.

Although she was technically the Eldest Miss of the Ye Family, she had not been raised by them, nor was she close to them. In other words, she had no maiden family to rely on and nowhere to go, even if she did quarrel with Xie Shuo. No matter how wronged she felt, she could only suffer by herself.

Perhaps this was a reason why Xie Baiyan chose her as his daughter-in-law.

“Is anything the matter?” Ye An asked softly.

Seeing her speaking more, Aunt Zhou smiled and hurriedly replied, “I just made some papaya, snow fungus, and lotus seed soup. My niece picked the lotus seeds herself from our hometown. Would Madam like to try some?”

At Grandfather Xie’s event, there were too many people there, and Ye An had to maintain her elegant image. Ye An didn’t eat very much, so she was very hungry and put down her bag, saying, “Okay.”

Aunt Zhou breathed a sigh of relief when she heard her response and hurried to the kitchen to bring out a bowl of lotus seed soup and put it on the dining table.

The sweet fragrance from the lotus seeds in the white porcelain bowl looked incredibly appetizing.

Ye An sat down at the dining table. Pinching the spoon with her fair fingers, she began to slowly eat.

Aunt Zhou watched by the side, and after hesitating for a long time, she suddenly said, “Madam, I have served the Xie Family for over ten years. I have watched the Eldest Young Master grow up…”

Hearing this, Ye An looked up.

Aunt Zhou looked at her and said, “In fact, he wasn’t like this before, but so many things have happened in the past two years. He lost his vision…”

Ye An stared blankly at her as if recalling something. After a while, she lowered her gaze and stared at the lotus seeds in the bowl.

    She whispered, “I know.”

If she didn’t understand, why would she have made the lonely decision to commit for the rest of her life?

“Whatever happens, please don’t take it to heart, Madam.”

Aunt Zhou said this much and stopped, afraid that Ye An didn’t want to listen. She asked softly, “How does the lotus seed soup taste? Is it too hot?”

Ye An shook her head and smiled. “No, it’s delicious.”

It was warm, fragrant, and sweet but not overbearingly so. Her mood was better, and she was less angry than before.

Soon, the bowl was empty. Ye An put down the spoon, and Aunt Zhou smiled, asking, “Would you like some more?”

Ye An’s appetite was aroused, so she nodded eagerly.

Aunt Zhou brought her another bowl, and she inadvertently glanced at the entrance of the dining room.

Aunt Zhou guessed her thoughts and scowled, saying, “Don’t listen to him. He’s a grown man; what lotus soup would he drink? This soup is made for you and you alone; eat however much you want.”

Even though Ye An knew that she said this to comfort her, Ye An still smiled.

Seeing her smiling face, Aunt Zhou was relieved. She sat down and said, “If there’s anything that Madam wants to eat, tell me. I’ll make it for you.”

Ye An thought about it. “Aunt Zhou, do you know how to make cakes?”

Aunt Zhou: “Is Madam’s birthday coming up?”

Ye An shook her head. “No, I just suddenly wanted to eat cake.”

Aunt Zhou replied, “I don’t know how to bake very well, but my daughter does. I’ll learn from her soon.”

    “Aunt Zhou has a daughter?”

“I have one. She is older than Madam and married. Her child is already two years old.”

        ———-

After eating two bowls of lotus soup and chatting with Aunt Zhou, Ye An was much more relaxed, and the anger in her chest had almost completely disappeared.

When the sun went down at around six o’clock, she went back upstairs and opened the door to the study.

Xie Shuo still sat in the same position and virtually the same posture. Outside the windows, the setting sun filled the sky. He sat alone quietly, his figure showing a trace of loneliness.

Ye An stood at the door for a few seconds before walking slowly over and stopping in front of him.

    “Let’s talk?”

There was finally some movement in this still scene. He raised his eyes and turned towards her.

Ye An sat down and said slowly, “I know you don’t like me, and you have never thought of me as your wife. But no matter how you phrase it, we have both agreed to this marriage. Even if you are unwilling or unable to put up with it, at least treat me with basic respect.”

She paused and saw his eyelashes move, and there seemed to be a trace of emotion on his face.

“We’ve been married for so long, yet I don’t think I’ve done you wrong at any point. I have done everything that I should have done. You don’t like me; I haven’t demanded anything more or blamed you. You explained this to me well before we married, so you have no wrong in this. It was me…”

She didn’t finish speaking and turned her face away to look out the window as if she were adjusting her emotions.

“To speak frankly, you married me to have someone take care of you. Let’s make a deal. If your eyes are healed one day, and you can see, let’s get divorced and have nothing to do with each other.”

In the distance, the rose-tinted clouds spread across the horizon. The setting sun reflected on the glass windows, creating a splendid backdrop.

Xie Shuo put his hand on his leg, and his fingers curled up. His eyes faced her, but the expression on his face was unreadable.

After a while, he finally spoke. His voice was faint and not as low as in the past.

He asked, “What if I can’t get better?”

Ye An looked back at him. An absent-minded look appeared in her crystal clear eyes as if she had returned to a memory from long ago.

The evening breeze passed through the curtains, and she whispered,

“Then we will continue our marriage.”
