I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 7

    Malicious Woman

    “You…and Zhou Kao got together?”

Sun Youmei assessed Wen Le from top to bottom with a strange look. She pointed to the page on her phone and said, “It’s fake, right?”

Wen Le didn’t know why she had such a strong reaction. Her long eyelashes fluttered, hiding her flash of emotions, and a small smile appeared. Wen Le acted as if nothing had happened, and calmly said, “Do you even believe the gossip on the Internet?”

Sun Youmei sized up Wen Le once again and failed to find anything suspicious from Wen Le. She then turned her gaze away from Wen Le, but her tone was still rather subtle, “That’s good then.”

Wen Le’s face remained calm, but her eyes gradually deepened, and with a cold expression, she indolently said, “Why?”

Sun Youmei glanced over at Wen Le in a calculative way again. She thought she was doing it very subtly, but her attitude and look revealed her true thoughts. Sun Youmei said, “How can a family like Zhou Kao’s accept such a commoner, you need not waste your feelings in vain.”

The smile on Wen Le’s face disappeared completely. She looked at Sun Youmei coldly with a raised eyebrow. The sweet innocent princess from earlier immediately turned into a strong powerful queen, “What family does he have? And who’s the one who’s putting efforts on him?”

Sun Youmei was a bit scared upon seeing this and immediately changed her attitude, “Aiya, I just heard that Zhou Kao’s family background is rather wealthy. Just gossiping a bit with y’all – girls from a commoner family shouldn’t bother a family like his, you’d just be wasting your time.”

Wen Le said coldly, “Oh, really?”

“Hey, I think quite a few people like him. I used to think that what the elders say is old-fashioned, but now that I think about it, there’s some truth to it. The family’s background must still match to get a good ending.”

On the surface, these words sounded like they were advising Wen Le, but after learning the truth behind Sun Youmei’s self-constructed ‘Ms Perfect’ image, and about how she relied on her second-generation rich boyfriend to force her way into their circle of friends, such words sounded really sarcastic.

For a moment, nobody knew how to respond to her, and the atmosphere in the dormitory turned a bit strange. But Sun Youmei’s phone rang, breaking the atmosphere up. This special ringtone set exclusively by Sun Youmei for her beloved was her starting way of showing off her affection.

Sun Youmei happily held up her phone with eyes full of smiles, and laughed, “Oh, I’m not gonna gossip with you guys anymore, my darling is calling me.”

Sun Youmei jogged out happily holding her phone, closed the door of the dormitory and did not go far. Within the dorm, they could still vaguely hear her happily flirting and laughing.

After the sounds of her laughter disappeared, Bao Xiaofan rolled her eyes and chuckled softly, “Acting like a bitch, what does she wanna do now?”

Wen Le shrugged. The thought of Sun Youmei nitpicking obsessively over her relationship with Zhou Kao made her indescribably annoyed, and she felt uncomfortably stifled.

After washing up, all four people in the dormitory settled in their beds. Sun Youmei, who had been taking her time outside talking on the phone for half an hour, ran back and started to rummage through her closet in excitement.

Cheng Hui was startled by her movements and sat up looking at Sun Youmei, “What are you up to, so late at night?”

Sun Youmei took out a pink mini-dress from the closet and checked herself out with it using the mirror behind the dorm door. Satisfied with the look, she threw the dress on the bed and then proceeded to strip to her undergarments in front of them. As she changed, she said, “Dorm leader, just treat it as if I didn’t come back today. Lin Zi wants to take me to a party, so I won’t be coming back tonight.”

Cheng Hui frowned, “You pay attention to safety, late at night…”

There were some things that weren’t for Cheng Hui to say, but everyone knew it as an adult.

Sun Youmei waved her hand indifferently, “Don’t worry la, it’ll be alright, dorm leader!”

Cheng Hui kindly reminded her, “There’s a class at eight o’clock tomorrow morning, don’t forget.”

Sun Youmei didn’t care, “Won’t be able to make it to the class at eight o’clock, attendance won’t be taken anyway. I’ll just skip the class la. Don’t worry, dorm leader mummy!”

Cheng Hui was speechless, “Okay, don’t forget to pack up all these things on the floor before you leave.”

Sun Youmei was busy changing and doing her makeup and hair, and said perfunctorily, “I know, I know.”

After getting ready for more than half an hour, the dormitory was a mess again. The pile of wrapping paper, bags and boxes that Sun Youmei brought back was still not cleaned up. A quick glance at the time showed that the dorm would shut the gates in another 20 minutes, yet Sun Youmei was still busy drawing her eyeliner.

The ringtone that Sun Youmei set for her boyfriend rang in the dorm. Her boyfriend had already arrived downstairs in his car and was calling to chase her.

In a panic, Sun Youmei still managed to finish drawing her eyeliner steadily, picked up her bag and ran out the door.

She ran to the door and looked at the clothes and bags she had taken out and hadn’t put back yet, and then ran back to put everything in the closet and locked it with a lock.

Cheng Hui looked at the mess in the dorm and reminded her, “Your packing box!”

Sun Youyou said in a hurry: “Leave it for now and wait for me to clean up when I’m back.”

After speaking, she rushed out of the dorm like a gust of wind.

Seeing the mess on the ground, Cheng Hui burst out, “F**k!”

Bao Xiaofan took off her earphones to glance at it and frowned heavily.

Man Qingxuan said leisurely at this time, “I suddenly remembered that there seems to be a hygiene inspection tomorrow.”

Four voices sounded at the same time, “F**k!”

Ai Fei, who had just returned from self-study in the library, heard these four “f**k” exclamations as soon as she pushed open the door. Startled, she could not help but exit and closed the door to glance at the dorm number to confirm that she had not entered the wrong place. Confirming that, she entered the dorm again gingerly,  and saw the mess all over the dorm.

    “What happened?” Ai Fei asked.

Cheng Hui pointed to the mess on the floor: “There’s a hygiene inspection tomorrow. She left already and probably won’t be returning tomorrow either.”

    “F**K

Ai Fei understood what she had done, couldn’t help but widen her eyes in shock, and started cursing “F**K” repeatedly.

One could really get pissed off to death by Sun Youmei.

The five people in the dorm had to drag themselves out of bed, and spent most of the day cleaning up the dorm from top to bottom. As the class was at 8 am tomorrow, it would be too late to clean everything up in the morning.

Cheng Hui kicked a pile of wrapping paper and boxes beside her feet, and said, “What should we do, there is no more space for her stuff. If we throw them away, she might make a huge fuss about it.”

Bao Xiaofan said, “Don’t throw, don’t throw it away! It has to be kept for her – there’s Lao Yang’s class tomorrow afternoon, she wouldn’t dare to not come and will definitely return to the dorm. Then I will put this pile of rubbish back for her to sort through. She better tidy them all up nicely for us, and if she were to leave out even a strand of hair, I will stuff it in her mouth.”

    Man Qingxuan nodded, “Agreed.”

Wen Le thought about Sun Youmei’s insinuation against her last night which made her disgusted. She couldn’t be bothered by her and said, “Then we’ll just shove it under the bed, and then take it out for her after the hygiene inspection.”

Cheng Hui nodded in agreement, “Okay.”

The few of them looked at each other, and then smiled sinisterly.

What to do, they were just such malicious women.

In the afternoon, they had Lao Yang’s class. Lao Yang’s class was notoriously difficult.  Before class, attendance was always taken. Missing one class would mean the deduction of ten points, missing twice would mean losing their average grades, and missing thrice would mean you have failed and have to repeat the class.

It was unfortunate that Sun Youmei had already skipped Lao Yang’s class once. If she skipped class again this time, it would be difficult for her to pass without her usual grades. Just as what Bao Xiaofan predicted, Sun Youmei dared not be too indulgent and appeared back in the dorm.

Maybe it was because of staying out too late last night, the dark circles on Sun Youmei’s face were rather heavy, and she was also a little lacklustre.

As soon as Sun Youmei pushed open the dorm, she was stunned when she saw the mess on the ground. Then she remembered that this was the packaging she left yesterday, but realised something was wrong. Sun Youmei was surprised, “Wasn’t there a hygiene inspection this morning?”

The people in the dorm sneered collectively when they heard her words. Turns out that she did know about the hygiene inspection, and had long planned things out.

    It was really maddening.

Cheng Hui nodded coldly, “Yes, the inspection is over.”

Sun Youmei pointed to the mess, “Then did we get 0 points?”

The department attached great importance to the hygiene scores. If it was 0 points, one would be afraid to be invited by the counsellor to have a talk.

Bao Xiaofan said with a sneer, “That’s not true, our hygiene inspection got 100% again.”

Sun Youmei looked at the things on the ground again and seemed to want an answer.

Wen Le said, “We don’t really like to touch your things. After all, these things are so expensive, right? We don’t dare to throw them out for you, as we’re afraid that we might throw away something of yours by accident, and that wouldn’t be good. So we arranged it back to how it was, and you can look carefully if there’s still anything valuable.”

Wen Le’s face was sincere and innocent as if she was really considerate of Sun Youmei, but the indifference in her eyes showed her sarcasm.

Sun Youmei looked at Wen Le, her face was a little embarrassed. She seemed to realize that this was probably Wen Le’s revenge for her attack on her last night.

Sun Youmei held on to her bag tightly. She really hated this girl.

Cheng Hui also chimed in at this time, “Hurry up and see if there’s any other valuables. Better clean it up soon, the dorm looks quite messy with all this piled up on the floor.”

Sun Youmei gritted her teeth and reluctantly picked up the trash on the ground.

What other valuables could there be? Before she left yesterday, she had locked all the things she unpacked into the closet. She knew better than anyone that this pile of things were really just a pile of rubbish.

Sun Youmei took a deep breath and the wrapping paper crinkled in her hands. After cleaning up all the wrapping papers, she muttered, “Okay, done.”

Cheng Hui glanced distractedly from the phone when she heard the words, and said, “What’s this on the floor? Youmei, get the broom to clean it up.”

The dormitory returned to a clean and tidy appearance, and the mood of several people in the dormitory also improved, only Sun Youmei was in a bad mood.

Sun Youmei walked past Man Qingxuan. Man Qingxuan wrinkled her nose, and said, “Youmei, have you been drinking? The smell of alcohol on your body is a little strong.”

Hearing this, Sun Youmei pulled her sleeve and sniffed it. The stench was a little heavy. “I didn’t drink much, but I accidentally spilt some drinks on myself yesterday. I’ll go wash up.”

Sun Youmei went to the closet to look for a change of clothes, but suddenly froze when she opened the closet.

The key to her wardrobe was missing.

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 6

    What situation is this?

Wen Le pushed the door of the dormitory to open it, but wasn’t able to do so; it appeared as if the door was blocked by something.

She knocked on the door, and soon a shout came from the dormitory, “Wait! Wait…”

Wen Le waited for a while and heard a rustling sound from behind the door. After a while, the door was opened.

As soon as Wen Le glanced inside the dormitory, she knew why she couldn’t push the door open.

The small aisle of the dormitory was filled up with haphazardly piled-up large and small boxes, enclosed in wrapping paper. Wen Le felt that the path leading from the door to her study desk was heavily obstructed, and there was almost no space for her to step around.

And in the middle of all this mess, there was another person who was still tearing open packages, adding on to the rubbish, while chattering about the origin of each item.

    “We left the fashion show, and Zhen Zhen asked if we still wanted to go shopping. There were too many people in Karl Lagerfeld, so we went to the Paris Spring Department Store… This bag is worth tens of thousands;

Zhen Zhen just gave it a look, and said ‘This suits Ah Mei very much’, then she swiped her card… I saw this dress at a glance and fell in love immediately.

Although it is a little expensive, how can I let go of the things I like? So I reluctantly bought it, but I don’t regret it. Because it is so beautiful!!!”

Sun Youmei’s mouth was chattering endlessly, and Cheng Hui, who was forcibly pulled aside by Sun Youmei to listen, had a stiff smile on her face, and a trace of agony in her expression.

Cheng Hui was a tomboy, and the clothes she wore often were those cheap black and white T-shirts with sweatpants. She had no idea about Sun Youmei’s refined life, let alone the desire to explore it.

Man Qingxuan and Bao Xiaofan had long since abandoned their friends and gone to bed to watch dramas with their headphones on.

Wen Le wanted to laugh a little, but resisted the laughter, walked forward on tiptoes looking for a gap, and said, “Hi…this is…”

When Sun Youmei turned her head and saw Wen Le, she took a sweeping glance at her. She saw Wen Le dressed in a white dress, her long black hair tied up into a top bun, accessorised with a shining crystal hairpin. Her makeup was delicate and her neck was slender, overall she was exuding an outstanding temperament.

Sun Youmei’s face couldn’t help but freeze. She had been a beautiful top student since she was a child, and her intelligence together with her beautiful face made her popular wherever she went. In the college entrance examination, she performed exceptionally well and with the added extra points obtained through her independent enrollment, she successfully entered the country’s top A University.

Initially, she had thought that because of her appearance, she would definitely be sought after by her classmates, and regardless of such titles like the faculty-belle or class-belle, they would naturally belong to her too.

With so many top students gathered in one location, how could there be many hunks and beauties? With her face, she would probably be the most beautiful one amongst them.

Sun Youmei had even wondered what kind of attention and fame, being A University’s top student beauty, could bring to her.

But she had never thought that the next few years would be unfavourable to her, as a result of her meeting Wen Le, who became popular throughout the school and internet with her beauty, as soon as she entered the school gates.

The beautiful picture Sun Youmei imagined was shattered by reality. Against the radiance of Wen Le, her beauty seemed to be greatly compromised. It was like the moon concealing the light of stars. As long as Wen Le appeared, she seemed to become a star that was overshadowed, becoming dull and unremarkable.

Since her childhood, Sun Youmei had been the focus of the crowd and was pursued fervently by people around her. This huge disparity in popularity made Sun Youmei unable to accept it in any way.

Sun Youmei didn’t like this overly beautiful girl from the first time she saw Wen Le, and this dislike grew after Wen Le overshadowed her light. She regarded her as a thorn in her flesh. The thing that Sun Youmei hated the most now was having to interact with Wen Le in the same space while breathing the same air, which made her feel suffocated.

(T/N: this girl has some serious jealousy issues….)

Sun Youmei’s excited face had already plummeted when Wen Le appeared. She turned her head and slightly raised her eyelids to look at Wen Le. She became even more out of breath when she saw a graceful, charming Wen Le clad in a white dress, and the expression on her face also worsened by several degrees.

As soon as Wen Le appeared, she spoiled Sun Youmei’s good mood to show off her luxurious bags and clothes. Sun Youmei gritted her teeth with hatred, but still said perfunctorily, “Hi, you’re back?”

After all, the adult world is just so artificial yet harmonious.

Wen Le put the backpack on the table and greeted, “Youmei, when did you return?”

“In the afternoon”, Sun Youmei said perfunctorily. When she chanced upon Wen Le’s backpack, she sneered and cursed her as a poor ghost in secret, but her mood suddenly improved.

Sun Youmei turned her head back in a good mood and fluffed her hair amorously. The four-leaf clover ring from Van Cleef & Arpels on her snow-white fingers was unexpectedly eye-catching.

When Cheng Hui saw Wen Le, the smile on her face finally stopped being stiff, and while Sun Youmei turned her head back, she winked at Wen Le, signalling Wen Le to save her from this boring topic.

Wen Le chuckled in her heart, winked back at Cheng Hui in response and said with a good temperament, “That elegant ring is so beautiful!”

Sun Youmei’s vanity was greatly satisfied, and her attention was diverted. She did not intend to continue holding on to Cheng Hui. Instead, she gently touched the ring on her finger and said in a distinctively arrogant tone, “It’s alright I guess; about two thousand Euros. But he insisted on buying it for me, what can I do?”

Upon hearing this, Cheng Hui rolled her eyes where Sun Youmei couldn’t see.

Sun Youmei was a weirdo in their dormitory.

There were actually six people in their dormitory. In addition to Cheng Hui, Wen Le, Bao Xiaofan, and Man Qingxuan, there were two others. One was the mysterious hardworking and diligent scholar Ai Fei, who left early and returned late, and the other was the little beauty Sun Youmei.

Sun Youmei had white, fair skin with big eyes and a small round face. She looked sweet and lovely, but her temperament was not as simple and cute as her appearance. On the contrary, she was rather scheming.

The young lady was quite vain. From the beginning of their freshman year, Sun Youmei had tried to build the image of a “Ms Perfect”* for herself.

*Ms Perfect is internet slang for saying one is fair-skinned, rich and beautiful.

Her clothes and bags were all from famous brands, and her perfume and skincare products also cost at least thousands and up. She occasionally carelessly showed off her wealth, adding to her “Ms Perfect” image from all aspects.

There were six people in dormitory 307. Except for Bao Xiaofan, the others were all from small cities, whose parents were from ordinary working families. Wen Le came from a remote mountain village in the southwestern province. Initially, Wen Le, who had just entered university, didn’t even recognize the logos of the major brands on Sun Youmei’s clothes and bags. Compared with Sun Youmei, Wen Le was undoubtedly a country bumpkin from head to toe.

Sun Youmei not only paraded around with clothes and bags but also spent money extravagantly. She also intentionally revealed that her family was engaged in the commercial business. All the country bumpkins in the dormitory, who had not seen much of the world, were easily deceived by Sun Youmei. Thus, the “Ms Perfect” image of Sun Youmei was established in the dormitory.

But what Sun Youmei wanted was more than just establishing her status in the dormitory. She wanted her image as a “Ms Perfect” to be established in the class, faculty and even in the entire school and society, basically amongst everyone who did not know her true background.

But the people outside of dormitory 307 were not as gullible as the group of country-bumpkins in the dormitory, and all lies were bound to be exposed one day.

Cheng Hui had a good temper and popularity and had a good relationship with the girls in the class. She carried herself with a unique temperament; although it might not attract boys, it gave the girls a strong sense of security. Hence generally, none of the girls disliked or excluded her.

Once, Cheng Hui went to another dormitory to chat with her friends. While gossiping, the girl in the dormitory next door, who had a fiery temper, directly exposed Sun Youmei’s lies.

“That Sun Youmei in your dormitory is too interesting. Has she always been giving herself the title of a ‘Miss Perfect’? Oh my God, at least 80% of the clothes and bags on her are A-grade counterfeits, please! And she’s still there trying to pretend as if no one can tell? Give me a break!”

Once girls start to gossip, they can have analysis and reasoning capabilities comparable to Holmes, and their analysis at every step can be perfect.

There is no impermeable wall in the world, and her ex-schoolmates knew exactly what kind of family conditions Sun Youmei had.

The university circle in the capital could be considered to be neither too big nor too small. After asking around several local students, there would always be one or two classmates whom they could get in touch with for more details. And it just so happened that the friend of the girl in the next-door dormitory was one such person, and she knew everything about Sun Youmei’s background.

Sun Youmei’s mother was a primary school teacher, and her father had opened a rather big bookstore. Her family conditions were not bad, but they were still rather different from the conditions of the “Ms Perfect” image that she had created for herself.

However, Sun Youmei was indeed liberal with money and spent extravagantly. But this was because she had a boyfriend who drove a Porsche.

Her branded bags, clothes and even her daily expenses mostly came from this little-known boyfriend who was kept tightly secret.

She was so secretive about it, that all five of them in dormitory 307 thought that Sun Youmei was single.

Then once, she had a terrible fight with her boyfriend. She started bawling in the middle of the night to everyone’s surprise, and that was when she admitted that she had a boyfriend.

Since then, she fell into the vicious circle of showing their affection to others.

She was not a bad person, but she was very competitive and vain. The roommates did not want to make the dormitory atmosphere awkward and thus did not expose her. They were all adults, and there was no need for others to dictate the life one chose.

Her boyfriend did a lot of business for his family and often brought her out to meet people from the rich second-generation circle. It was for this reason that Sun Youmei happened to meet the generous Zhen Zhen who gave her a bag casually, and who was a girl of the same batch but from the art school next door, and was the real “Miss Perfect”.

Two days ago, Zhen Zhen invited Sun Youmei to visit Paris for a fashion show. Sun Youmei requested for sick leave from her guardian and flew to Paris to watch the show with her boyfriend, Zhen Zhen and a few friends from that circle. It was only in the evening today that she returned to the dorm lugging a bag full of items, showing off while unpacking, and making the whole dorm a mess.

    Such was her character.

Actually, other aspects were fairly simple, except for her vanity. After getting a sense of superiority from Wen Le, she began to pull her aside to chat incessantly about her trip to Paris.

Wen Le was able to read her thoughts, yet she did not bother to argue with her.

It was indeed getting late. Wen Le pulled the dorm leader along to wash up. The dorm leader took a look at the mess in the dorm, and developed a headache, shouting, “Clean up the dormitory before I’m back!”

Sun Youmei laughed and cursed, “Yeah, I know, you’re annoying.”

The whole dorm appeared to be harmonious.

After Wen Le and the dorm leader finished washing up, they heard Sun Youmei’s shout while holding on to her phone. Her shouts caused the two wearing earphones to take them off and turn their heads towards her.

“Wen Le, you are actually together with Zhou Kao?!”

Wen Le looked at Sun Youmei’s shocked and angry eyes and tilted her head. ‘What….situation was this?’

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 5

    Encounter With Another Confession

After class, Wen Le did not leave with her roommates. Her classmate from the Student Union had swapped duties, so Wen Le packed her bags and rushed to Building J where the Student Union was located.

There were not many people in Building J at this point in time, except for the security guard uncle guarding the door.

Wen Le exchanged the timesheet with the classmate who was on duty earlier and signed on it.

Before leaving, the classmate said, “Classroom 201 upstairs is still in use. When they leave, don’t forget to collect the keys. Earlier, the section head said that some people from the Student Union may come to deliver a document in the evening. You should receive the documents before locking the door and leaving.”

Wen Le nodded, “Alright, I got it.”

    “Then I’ll go now.”

    “Mm, bye.”

There were not many people while on duty in the afternoon. Wen Le tidied up the office briefly, then sat down on the desk and took out her homework to write for a while.

Wen Le was not sure about the time the meeting in room 201 had started upstairs, but it lasted for another hour after her arrival. When Wen Le collected the key from them, it was already close to dinner time.

For dinner, she ordered takeout and simply began to eat.

After finishing the homework, she took out her USB and used the office computer to revise her manuscript.

Two weeks ago, Wen Le submitted a manuscript to Wenxing Magazine, but they called back two days ago requesting for a major revision of the manuscript.

Wen Le had been writing online since her freshman year to make some pocket money on the side.

At nine o’clock in the evening, the documents that she had been waiting for a long time finally arrived.

Wen Le collected the documents from the student from the Student Union and recorded them down. She then packed her bags, and turned off the computer and lights, before locking the door to leave.

It was already past nine o’clock in the evening, and only Wen Le was left in Building J. The security room was lit, but the security guard uncle could not be seen through the glass window.

University A was a university with a century-old history, which had made the facilities of University A outdated. The school was currently renovating various buildings on campus year by year, but the dormitory and teaching buildings were naturally the first to undergo remodelling.

Building J was listed in the last few pages of the renovation schedule and the lights in the corridor of the old Building J were also dimmed due to disrepair.

Wen Le walked through the dimly lit corridor and walked to the entrance of Building J. A gust of wind blew by. The tall trees and vines at the door rustled, and the dim external light above her head made a “creak” sound. In this silent night deserted of people, there was an inexplicable sense of horror which made one’s blood run cold.

And it was at this moment, Wen Le discovered a person standing under the shadow of the trees.

Wen Le was startled, and her heart almost came to an abrupt stop. She cursed in her heart silently, but still managed to appear calm.

Wen Le pretended not to see him, and turned and walked towards the exit.

Building J was located on a high platform which was half a meter high. Below the high platform was the sidewalk. There were street lights on the sidewalk, so it would make it easier to see.

There were steps to the east of the exit of Building J. In fact, a half-meter-high platform was not that high to jump from, but few people choose to jump from the platform.

Wen Le walked directly to the steps, but was stopped after a few steps.

    “Wen Le!”

To be honest, there were only two people in the dark, and the other party was also a boy. Wen Le didn’t want to look back.

Wen Le also pretended not to have heard him and continued to walk toward the steps.

The person behind her saw Wen Le ignoring him, yet refused to give up.

He sprinted a few steps forward, “Xue jie Wen Le!”

*xue jie – a term to refer to a senior sister

Wen Le could feel that the person had run to the spot right behind her, so she had no choice but to turn around and look at the approaching person.

Seeing the other’s face vaguely through the dim light, Wen Le felt that it was a bit familiar at first, but was eventually unable to remember.

Wen Le just took two steps back vigilantly, and with a polite smile on her face said, “Why is xuedi* looking for me?”

*xue jie – a term to refer to a male junior

The boy was overjoyed when he heard this, “Xue jie, you still remember me, right? I didn’t manage to get your WeChat that day and thought you forgot about me.”

When Wen Le heard him say it, she immediately remembered who this person was. It was the same person who asked her for her socials during the Student Union interview that day. Her face couldn’t help but turn stiff, and she took a step back quietly. She kept her smile on and said, “Why are you here so late?”

The person said, “I knew that xue jie is on duty for the Student Union. Whenever I pass by for self-revision at night, I will always take a look at the office. I didn’t expect xue jie to be here today, so I decided to just stay back and wait for xue jie.”

Wen Le endured her discomfort and said, “Is there anything I can help you with?”

The xue di eagerly took two steps forward, and Wen Le was forced to take another two steps back. The xue di said, “Xue jie, that day they said that you’ve a boyfriend , I don’t believe it. I followed you the whole day, and you didn’t even have any contact with other boys. Xue jie, you lied to me, right?”

Wen Le’s face turned stiff, eyes narrowed, and her voice was slightly dangerous, “You said…what? Followed me the whole day?”

The xue di only cared about what he said, and did not respond to Wen Le’s question.

Xue jie, I really like you! Please get together with me, xue jie! I know you and that guy are not together. Besides, what does that pretty boy Zhou Kao have that I don’t? Is he richer or more handsome than me?

(T/N: not gonna lie I might have puked a little translating this)

Xue Jie, don’t be fooled by his pretty face. People like him will only go around deceiving girls.”

As he spoke, he continued to take two steps forward excitedly, and Wen Le was forced to take another two steps back. He said, “You see Xue Jie, only I can give you happiness, only I can be worthy of you. Xue Jie, please just get together with me!”

After saying that, he approached to grab Wen Le.

Wen Le subconsciously stretched her hand back and took a step back to avoid him, but didn’t know that because of this xue di, she was forced to back up time and again. She was already standing on the edge of the high platform, and at that moment, her feet touched the air instead, and Wen Le lost her balance and fell.

    “Be careful, Xue Jie!”

Xue di widened his eyes suddenly and was about to reach out to grab Wen Le, yet he was still a step late.

The feeling of free-falling caused Wen Le’s pupils to shrink, and she closed her eyes, recognizing her fate and waiting for the pain to strike.

However, she was suddenly embraced by a pair of powerful arms and taken into a warm and firm embrace.

Wen Le was startled slightly, and a familiar fragrance wafted into her nose. Wen Le opened her eyes subconsciously. Under the bright street lamp, Zhou Kao’s handsome and profound silhouette came into Wen Le’s eyes.

When Zhou Kao caught Wen Le, he turned half a circle in order to buffer the force of the fall, and Wen Le’s long skirt swayed in a beautiful arc in the air.

Wen Le didn’t know when her hands held on to Zhou Kao’s shoulders, and her eyes were fixed on Zhou Kao’s side profile. The light hitting on Zhou Kao’s light brown hair seemed to shine like stars, but it was not as alluring as the stars flashing brightly in Zhou Kao’s eyes.

Wen Le looked at Zhou Kao blankly. At that moment, Zhou Kao was really super handsome, and Wen Le felt her maiden heart, which had been silent for a long time, pounding.

Blame the night scene for being so damn charming.

Zhou Kao kept his balance, while still holding Wen Le in his arms. The street lamp shed a gentle light, and Wen Le’s snow-white skirt elegantly covered her calf, revealing her slender ankles and a pair of snow-white leather shoes neatly joined together.

Zhou Kao lowered his head, the beauty was lying in his arms, and her snow-white hands were on his shoulders. Zhou Kao couldn’t help but move his throat slightly, while saying softly, “It’s me.”

His voice was a little low, and he was extraordinarily gentle under the night sky.

Wen Le looked at the Adam’s apple of Zhou Kao’s throat, and nodded, “En.”

The atmosphere between them did not seem to be as stiff as when they first met.

Zhou Kao said in a low voice, “Got a confession again?”

Wen Le held on to Zhou Kou’s shirt, and softly snitched, “He said bad things about you.”

Zhou Kao gave a soft hum, but didn’t get angry. On the contrary, he said indifferently  “I heard it.”

Wen Le couldn’t help pursing her lips and chuckling and then looked up at Zhou Kao. Perhaps it was due to the earlier act of the hero rescuing a damsel in distress, Wen Le whispered to Zhou Kao in a soft gentle tone that she had never heard before, “Help me…”

Zhou Kao didn’t speak, he just turned around carrying Wen Le and looked at the Xue di who was talking bad about him earlier.

Zhou Kao hugged Wen Le and turned around with a gentle smile, but the gaze in his eyes held no warmth. He gave a sweeping glance at the boy wordlessly, but the smile at the corner of his mouth deepened, and the boy instantly turned red. There was nothing worth more contempt and disdain than this gaze.

Zhou Kao stood under the streetlamp; even though he was below the high platform half a meter away from the xue di, he still crushed the opponent in terms of his presence.

The 188cm Zhou Kao had a body comparable to a male model. The influence of his family and his own excellence gave Zhou Kao, a kind of noble and aloof temperament. In his eyes, he always had a kind of careless self-confidence and calmness in grasping everything. Just this trait of his, allowed him to stand out from his group of same-aged peers. Coupled with Zhou Kao’s overly handsome face, ordinary people who appeared in front of Zhou Kao all seemed to pale in comparison.

When the two appeared in the same space, the contrast was extremely tragic.

Zhou Kao didn’t even respond to the boy’s evaluation of him. He just glanced at him lightly, which made him embarrassed beyond words.

“I’ll be bringing my girlfriend away, as for you…”

Zhou Kao’s voice paused, and there was oppression and warning in his eyes when he looked at the boy and said, “It’s better not to show up again.”

The xue di quickly fled in defeat.

Zhou Kao let Wen Le down onto the ground, saying, “I heard you personally voted me as the school hunk?”

Wen Le’s foot tripped, her eyes full of shock, “Who said that?!”

‘Why the hell does everyone have such a big mouth!’

    Zhou Kao said lightly, “Others.”

Wen Le gritted her teeth, but squeezed a smile on her face, “This is just a misunderstanding.”

Zhou Kao raised his eyebrows and did not continue to ask, but said, “I’ve seen you twice, and each time you were being confessed to at night.”

Wen Le bit her lips slightly, “I blame my damn charm.”

Zhou Kao lightly said, “Hope there won’t be a third time.”

    Wen Le, “There won’t be.”

TN: hehe we shall see about that, Wen Le~

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 4

    Voting of the School Hunk

    “Charge, charge, charge~!”

“Ahhhh~! Vote for him! Help lao zi* to vote!”

*lao zi refers to oneself in third person informally in an arrogant manner

Wen Le laughed upon seeing this scene, and said: “What are you guys doing, why are y’all so excited?”

Roommate Cheng Hui said: “Have you forgotten what day it is today?”

Wen Le was taken aback, “What day is it?”

Roommate Man Qing turned over and stared at Wen Le with a solemn face. In a moment, her serious face broke apart and she shouted excitedly, “It’s the day of the BBS school hunk selection!”

Wen Le suddenly came to a realization, “Got it.”

Roommate Bao Xiaofan was still fiddling with her phone, and after a few taps, suddenly put it down and shouted: “Quick! Lele, vote for number three, the dormitory is short of just your vote! Quickly! The deadline is only three minutes away! Hurry!”

Wen Le waved her hands, “You’ve forgotten, I don’t have this BBS application.”

As a BBS campus celebrity, Wen Le did not want to see what others posted about her on the BBS app. She had uninstalled the BBS app a long while ago, and she did not have anything like a campus confession page.

Bao Xiaofan waved her hand “It’s okay! That isn’t important! I will send you the link on WeChat, and you can click on it and vote for number three.”

Man Qingxuan interlocked her hands together, and brimming with tears, said, “You don’t even know how important your vote is to us.”

Wen Le, “I don’t know ah.”

Dorm leader Cheng Hui nibbled on an apple while lying on the bed, and said vaguely, “One of the candidates this year is an influencer. He was super shameless and mobilized his fans to vote for him, which led to an unrealistically high number of votes for him. We’re choosing our own school hunk, why are these outsiders interfering with our business? Although he looks a little handsome, he’s treating his title as the faculty hunk as if he’s invincible and the best. This disruptive operation of his is really ruining the popularity of the school’s genuine votes.”

Bao Xiaofan clapped her hands and said, “This person is simply ridiculous. You have to know that the school hunk also represents the attractiveness index of our school, and is the face and benefit of us girls. A school hunk with amazing visuals can break the public’s attitude towards our “A” university’s inherent impression. It shows that although we have a lot of top students, our physical appearance is also not bad. Moreover, a dark horse has appeared this year, and that attractive face, build, and temperament are absolutely enough to beat the school hunk of every university. You see, such a deity, if he’s not the school hunk, then who is?”

Man Qingxuan also echoed in agreement, “Originally, the throne of school hunk definitely belonged to candidate three with his looks. But that influencer just had to interfere and create this situation, and so his number of votes was raised all of a sudden. Our candidate three’s school hunk position is in imminent danger.”

Wen Le clicked on the link and curiously asked, “So now the influencer candidate has the most votes?”

Cheng Hui laughed sarcastically after hearing that, “That’s not possible.”

Bao Xiaofan also stood up proudly, puffing her chest, and said, “BBS specially started a thread this afternoon for this matter. Since influencers can mobilize their fans, then we can also mobilize our friends and family. After an afternoon of fierce battle, we finally pulled the votes of candidate three up! Ah Lele, are you done? There are only two minutes left!”

Wen Le was unable to scroll the page, “I don’t know how to.”

Just at this moment, the dorm leader suddenly yelled, “F**k! The number of votes for the influencer has caught up! AHHHHH! Hurry up, it’s about to get closer! Quickly, Wen Le! We cannot even let go of one vote! Hurry, there’s less than a minute now!”

Bao Xiaofan and Man Qingxuan also shouted nervously, “AHHHH! They are just two more votes away from catching up! Lele, Lele!”

Wen Le got nervous too as they started to shout, “Okay, okay, don’t stress me.”

The green progress bar finally reached the end, and the blank page was refreshed. Just as Wen Le breathed a sigh of relief, she heard Cheng Hui yell, “F**k! The number of votes came to a draw! Wen Le!”

Wen Le’s hand trembled, quickly scrolled down the page, and hurriedly selected candidate three, then clicked OK to submit the vote.

The page showed that the vote was successful, and the time had just reached ten o’clock, signalling the official end of voting.

Wen Le sighed a breath of relief collectively with the rest, and said, “So what’s the end result?”

The three of them jabbed at the air with their phones, and after a moment Bao Xiaofan screamed out, “AHHHHHH! We made it! Contestant number three! Is! The school hunk!”

Then, there was a burst of cheers in the dorm and vaguely, Wen Le could also hear cheers coming from the dorm next door. At that moment, Wen Le was at a loss, not knowing whether to laugh or cry.

Cheng Hui put her phone down and patted Wen Le on the shoulder, “Thank you, comrade! Thank you for giving the crucial vote at the final moment. Student Zhou Kao finally won the title of the school hunk by one vote. Lele, congratulations, you personally sent our candidate three, Zhou Kao, to the throne of school hunk.”

Wen Le was stunned for a moment upon hearing that, and her brain went into overdrive, “Who did you say contestant three was?”

Cheng Hui replied, “Zhou Kao, the School of Law’s Zhou Kao.”

Wen Le was taken aback, “The sophomore one?”

The dorm leader said, “Yeah, or else a freshman? Most of our freshmen are in the east campus, and not in the main campus, so they do not participate in the selection of the school hunk. Only the sophomores, who have returned to the main campus, can participate in the selections.”

    Wen Le: “…”

She was so pressed by their urging that she had voted without seeing the photo at all.

F**k, she had actually personally voted this scumbag as the school hunk.

    –

Wen Le felt that her luck had gone worse ever since meeting Zhou Kao.

For a week in a row, it was firstly her submitted manuscripts that were being rejected and requested to be rewritten. Then in the afternoon, the activities arranged by the Student Union suddenly had problems, which caused chaos. Worse still, someone had spread the news about Wen Le and Zhou Kao.

Once you get on the bandwagon, there is no getting off it. Wen Le finally got to know what this felt like.

On Wednesday afternoon’s general education class, Wen Le and her roommates arrived to attend the lecture a little early, and they habitually sat in the third row by the window. These seats were near the front but were also not conspicuous. Wen Le and her roommates had thus always liked these seats.

On WeChat, a classmate from the same department of the Student Association had messaged that he could not go on duty in the afternoon and wanted to change shifts with Wen Le. Wen Le flipped through her class schedule and memo and was about to reply to him when she suddenly felt a light pat.

Wen Le looked up, and realised it was a girl from the same faculty but from a different course. She was rather familiar to the eye, but Wen Le had never interacted with her before and was not close to her.

Wen Le’s expression was a little puzzled, and her beautiful eyes showed a sense of innocence, “Is there something wrong?”

The girl had a bob hairstyle, with bangs and big eyes, and her nose was a little flat. However, her skin was very fair and she wore tomato-red lipstick, looking super cutesy.

The girl had yet to speak, and she was first shocked by Wen Le’s beauty. She raised her hand to cover her mouth and softly exclaimed out, “OMG, so pretty.”

Wen Le was accustomed to being praised, and almost subconsciously showed a shy and gentle smile. When faced with other people’s praise of her appearance, she did not know how to respond, so she always responded with a smile.

The girl then remembered her purpose of coming here to find Wen Le. She smoothed her bangs embarrassedly, and asked in a low voice, “Excuse me, I’m Pan Yingying from Class 2. We’re from the same faculty, and I’ve been hearing them spread the news that you and the school hunk are together. So I wanted to come and ask you, is this true?”

There was a gaze in Pan Yingying’s eyes that made Wen Le feel a little familiar. Seeing the girl’s gaze, Wen Le kept feeling a sense of  deja vu, however, at this moment, Wen Le’s attention was drawn away by Pan Yingying’s words, “The new school hunk?”

Pan Yingying said, “It’s Zhou Kao!”

Wen Le was taken aback at first, and then something exploded in Wen Le’s brain with a boom, and her face quickly flushed red.

At the moment, the thoughts and comments flashing through Wen Le’s mind were:

‘One can not survive  the disaster one brings to oneself, an impulse is akin to the devil’s whisper, it’s impossible to get off a tiger once you ride on it, so embarrassing…’

Throughout all these years, she acted on impulse just this once due to drinking on a whim, and almost lost her entire face.

You always have to pay it back when you go out to play.

Wen Le put on a fake smile, trying her best to make herself seem calm and casual, and said, “Who said so? There’s no such thing.”

As soon as these words were spoken, Wen Le felt all the more that there was no problem at all.

Anyway, she had drunk alcohol that day, so it did not count.

Thinking about it like that, Wen Le did not feel guilty anymore. She ran her hand through her hair lightly and smiled brightly, “If someone asks again, please help me to clarify this rumour.

These kinds of rumours are not good for both parties, especially if the other party already has someone they like. Right? You should know that too.”

Yes, as long as she was thick-skinned, she would not be embarrassed or guilty.

“Ah…” Pan Yingying let out a disappointed sigh when she heard her words, and said in dismay, “Actually, I think you guys are quite a good match…”

    Wen Le: ! ! !

What is this student saying? This was totally unfounded, okay!

After Pan Yingying left, Wen Le responded to the message on WeChat and changed her shift with that classmate.

Cheng Hui nudged Wen Le, “Le ah, what’s going on?”

Wen Le blinked her eyes, “What?”

Cheng Hui said, “About you and Zhou Kao; since when did you get involved with Zhou Kao? So many people asked me on WeChat this morning about when you two got together.”

    Wen Le: ! ! !

    Wen Le, “I’m not, I didn’t!”

She then murmured, “How did the news even spread so quickly? Such big mouths!”

Cheng Hui, “What news? What exactly happened?”

Wen Le saw that the time was still early, and there were only a few people sitting around them. She moved to Cheng Hui’s side, lowered her voice, and gave a general summary of what happened.

After listening to her story, Cheng Hui was shocked, “So, Zhou Kao is actually your high school classmate?”

Wen Le hurriedly tugged at Cheng Hui, and said in a low voice, “Keep your voice down!”

Cheng Hui pulled her mouth close like a zipper.

Wen Le whispered, “Actually, we are not quite considered classmates. He was in our school for less than a semester, and we were in different classes too. We’ve only met several times.”

They competed with each other from afar. Or in other words, she had one-sidedly competed against him.

Cheng Hui still felt it was a little unbelievable, “You used him as an excuse, and he agreed?”

Wen Le nodded, “He cares quite a bit about  the whole concept of gentleman’s chivalry.”

Cheng Hui clicked her tongue twice, and glanced at Wen Le suspiciously, “Be honest, Lele, you really don’t like him?”

Wen Le scoffed upon hearing that: “Such a bastard if I were to like him, my last name will be his!”

Cheng Hui frowned, pursed her lips, and shook her head, “But he’s really super handsome. Didn’t you even vote for him to be the school hunk?”

Wen Le turned around and looked at Cheng Hui, with accusations of being deceived written all over her eyes, “That’s because you guys made me jump into a hole!”

Cheng Hui mischievously smiled, “But he’s super handsome, Lele.”

Wen Le put on a fake smile, and said, “Lao niang* is also super beautiful, okay?!”

*lao niang is a colloquial term referring to “I, this old woman” (often to show that one is like a lady boss in charge of herself)

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 3

To Gain Fame With One Battle

It was really unexpected for Zhou Kao to have bumped into Wen Le tonight. Not only to have met Wen Le, but also for Wen Le to have chosen the School of Economics and Management, and for everyone around him to also know Wen Le — all these were outside Zhou Kao’s expectations.

“It’s because we have the Campus Grapevine,” Cheng Liang waved his phone and grinned brightly.

The Campus Grapevine was an app officially released by University A for students to exchange information. After several generations of students’ development, the Campus Grapevine became an entertainment app exclusively for the use of A University students.

Zhou Kao had downloaded the app at the start of school, but because of its strong nature as an entertainment app, it was not very useful for Zhou Kao, so he uninstalled it that same night.

Lan Zhixin gave a weird laugh, and looked at Zhou Kao sympathetically, but his tone was gloating, “Without BBS*, you naturally wouldn’t know the glance and smile that made my goddess famous overnight.”

*BBS (Bulletin Board System) – a system that allows users to exchange messages and information, refers to the Campus Grapevine app

As early as the start of freshman year and before the end of military training*, news of Wen Le spread through the whole university with just one video. At that time, the newly enrolled freshmen had not even remembered the names of their classmates but had already remembered Wen Le’s name.

*military training – a course (sometimes compulsory) in schools and colleges

Wen Le’s fame was purely accidental.

Next to A University was D University, an art college with countless handsome men and beautiful women, with many celebrities in the entertainment industry currently attending the school. The starlet, Li Lexue, who debuted as a child star, was one of the celebrities.

A University and D University were next to each other, and the surrounding streets filled with food vendors were connected. Students from the two schools thus often encountered the other due to food.

When the fifth day of military training ended in the afternoon, Wen Le and her roommate went to an internet-famous beverage shop near the school. It so happened that Li Lexue and her assistant were filming nearby. At that time, a certain video app just became popular, and it was the trend to take videos of oneself smiling while looking back. Naturally, Li Lexue hopped on the bandwagon.

Wen Le was chatting happily with her roommate while holding a cold drink, when she suddenly heard someone shouting behind her, “Le Le!”

Wen Le turned around subconsciously and looked around blankly, only to see that there was another person in the middle of the crowd who also looked back. She realized that it was not her that they were calling, and could not help but laugh at herself, then turned around to leave with her roommate.

Li Lexue was as pure as a lily with an exquisite profile, and had a large fan base. When the video was uploaded, it had hundreds of thousands of likes and shares, and it went viral on the app.

Hopping on the bandwagon, someone posted a fan-cam of Li Lexue shooting the video at that time.

Unlike Li Lexue’s own video where only she was in frame, there were inevitably more people included in the fan-cam taken by the passersby.

It was such an unintentional shot, but it clearly captured Wen Le who looked back and laughed behind Li Lexue.

Even beauties were most afraid of comparison.

Wen Le’s looks were even more outstanding than her grades. From the remote mountains of a certain southwestern province to the capital, she had never suffered a defeat once along the way.

In the video, Wen Le was wearing a camouflage outfit looking valiant and confident, with a face void of any make up, and glancing back tenderly and beautifully. Yet this gentle glance of hers thrusted an explosion of beauty to others. By comparison, even the starlet, Li Lexue, captured in the fancam, was reduced to being a foil.

The video exploded in views rapidly, even surpassing Li Lexue’s original video.

Someone in school found out that the girl in the viral video was actually a freshman in the School of Economics and Management of A University, and forwarded the video to the BBS forum which caught a lot of attention. This was not surprising as after all, it was human nature to yearn for beauty.

Later, the online video was deleted, but the video posted in the forum was kept.

Lan Zhixin took out his phone as if he were offering a treasure, opened BBS, and bestowed it to Zhou Kao, saying, “Let me show you the god-level scene of my goddess. Pay attention to your image, and don’t get a nosebleed!”

Zhou Kao only took a quick glance, then looked away. If this was god-level, then it was because they hadn’t seen sixteen-year-old Wen Le’s ability.

Thinking about it made Zhou Kao frown slightly, and he shook off the image in his mind and decided not to think about Wen Le further.

Soon after the start of school, clubs began recruiting new members. In the evening, the Student Union prepared for their first round of interviews in Room 202 at the J Hall.

As the newly appointed vice-president, Wen Le was one of today’s interviewers.

Although University A was a top university filled with the country’s cream of the crop students, the students’ personalities were not the same, and their way of thinking was also bizarre. After interviewing the entire night, there were all sorts of candidates. During a break, a guy next door grumbled under his breath, “This is even more tiring than participating in a physics competition.”

Wen Le’s group was still alright and did not have any weirdos showing up, thus were unable to understand the guy’s feelings.

Guan Yue, who was also one of the interviewers along with Wen Le, whispered near Wen Le’s ear, “One of my roommates is in the External Relations Department of the Student Union; and during one of the interviews, a guy turned up and started babbling in a foreign language. My roommate and the rest of the interviewers were stunned and couldn’t understand him at all. Then the guy sneered and said contemptuously, ‘Do none of you guys know any foreign language in the External Relations Department? It seems that this department is rather disappointing.’ and he just left after saying that.”

Guan Yue rolled her eyes as she said, “My roommate was so bewildered, and was practically bursting with rage.”

Wen Le curled her lip and said, “I recommend your roommate to use XX translator. Next time, even if he speaks Arabic, it will still be able to translate it, and can even point out the parts he got wrong.”

Wen Le acted as if she were a drama queen, and said: “Hey, classmate, your pronunciation is not right. Tsk tsk, your oral speech is terrible, even this translation software can’t recognize it at all.”

After hearing it, Guan Yue laughed till she was out of breath, “Hahaha, can’t stand you and your antics, Wen Le.”

Of course, normal people and outstanding interviewees still accounted for more than 90% of the interviewees. However, there were always a few who were self-conceited, which would catch the interviewers off guard.

Wen Le never expected that as soon as she ridiculed others, she would be hit next.

When the interview reached the last two candidates, the penultimate candidate was a xue di* with quite a personality.

*xue di – a term to refer to a male lowerclassmen

The xue di did not seem nervous at all in front of the interviewers, and instead was relaxedly slumped in the chair while staring at Wen Le.

Wen Le scrunched her brows in a frown, as she felt somewhat offended with the way he was blatantly staring at her.

What happened next was even more outrageous.

Faced with the question asked by an upperclassman, the xue di turned a deaf ear to him, and instead stared at Wen Le and started chatting unscrupulously.

Xue jie*, I came especially for you. I’ve seen your photo on BBS before; you’re even prettier in person.”

*xue jie – a term to refer to a senior sister

Xue jie, do you have a boyfriend?”

Xue jie, what’s your ideal type like….”

He completely ignored the questions asked by the seniors, and like a peacock with its feathers on full display, he acted absolutely unbridled, seemingly forgetting that this was an interview.

Wen Le and the rest of the interviewers, who were sitting, all had visible scorn on their faces. Wen Le knocked on the desk with a darkened expression and said, “Tong xue*, this is an interview. Please correct your attitude, otherwise please leave.”

Tong xue – the direct translation is classmate, this term can also be used to refer to said student

Hearing this, the xue di changed his posture with a smile, and said, “Xue jie, why be so serious…”

Wen Le closed his application form and said, “OK, tong xue, your interview is over, next please.”

The xue di spread out his hands nonchalantly, and said, “To be honest, xue jie, I only came because I heard that joining the Student Union would get me your WeChat. Since I’ve already come, you can’t possibly let me return empty-handed right, xue jie?”

The male interviewer at the scene had already stood up and was about to escort him out with an impatient look. It was at this moment, the interview in Room 203 ended. Zhang Lin pushed the door and walked in. He frowned upon hearing what the xue di said.

Zhang Lin snickered while leading over two other guys from his department, and said to the shameless guy, “Don’t bother. Your xue jie is not single. Her boyfriend is Zhou Kao from the law school. Is there a point for you to pester endlessly here?”

“What the f**k?” The guy looked at Wen Le begrudgingly, but as he was apprehensive about Zhang Lin and the rest of the guys present, he got up and left in embarrassment.

At the present moment in the huge room, all the interviewers turned their eyes onto Wen Le, and no one bothered paying attention whether the rascal stayed or left. They had a more concerning topic at hand—the news just mentioned by Zhang Lin.

A girl softly cried out in surprise, “Oh my God, is what Zhang Lin said, true? Wen Le?”

Everyone in the room stared at Wen Le with beseeching eyes, waiting for her reply.

At the moment, Wen Le’s head was full of the stupid things she did yesterday, that she failed to realise why the people around her all seemed to know who Zhou Kao was.

The moment Zhang Lin appeared, Wen Le turned completely stiff. Just thinking about the stupid things she did last night, made her toes curl up together in awkwardness.

    What had she done?

She used Zhou Kao, whom she had not seen in three years, to act as a couple to reject Zhang Lin.

Wen Le thought that she must have been crazy last night, as she had never thought about what she would do if Zhang Lin were to confirm about the relationship with her in public.

Maybe she had anticipated such an embarrassing situation at that time, but her brain numbed by alcohol affected her judgement, so in the end, she impulsively did something that she now regretted.

Under everyone’s gaze, Wen Le went completely stiff. No words were able to describe her embarrassment at the moment. She could not deny it in front of Zhang Lin yet she also could not admit it in front of everyone.

The taste of being unable to advance or retreat was incredibly diabolic.

But Wen Le had a heavy burden; how could she lose face in front of everyone? Thus she kept her expression in check, coughed lightly while smiling embarrassedly, and said, “What’s with you guys? Interviewers, we still have interviews.”

Avoiding the topic was sometimes the best answer.

When everyone saw that she didn’t say anything, they just thought she was too embarrassed to talk about her relationship in front of everyone. Thus, they took her silence as a ‘yes’ and didn’t pursue the topic any further. They then asked the last person to come in for the interview.

As soon as the interview was over, Wen Le took advantage of the fact that everyone had yet to react after finally finishing the interviews, she picked up her bag, and escaped claiming that she had something to do.

Wen Le rushed back to the dorm in a somewhat pitiful state. After closing the door, Wen Le then remembered something was not quite right. Why did they all know Zhou Kao? Was Zhou Kao very famous? Then why did she just get to know that Zhou Kao was also at A University?

While mulling it over , Wen Le heard her roommates’ excited screams. Upon hearing these screams, she knew at once that they were spazzing while watching handsome hunks.

Wen Le put her bag down and went over, “What are you guys doing?”

Author has some words to say:

The background of the plot is a parallel universe. A University is not referring to any university. Li Lexue is not referring to anybody. Everything was set to serve the plot. ~

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 2

    The Scumbag and The Bitch

Wen Le walked back to the dormitory, shuttling back and forth in the brightly lit corridor, and gradually sobered up.

It just so happened that the dorm leader had also just come back from another dormitory, “Le Le*, you just got back?”

*Lele is an informal way of addressing Wen Le, usually by close friends.

    Wen Le faintly nodded, “En.”

She seemed to be engrossed in thoughts.

The dorm leader muttered in her heart, and took another look at Wen Le, but was still unable to figure out what was wrong. She then followed Wen Le into the dormitory.

Everyone in their dorm was present. Upon seeing that Wen Le was back, they greeted each other before returning to their own affairs.

Wen Le sat down in front of her desk and absent-mindedly began to remove her makeup unhurriedly.

Her phone on the desk vibrated slightly. Wen Le subconsciously took a look and saw that the dorm leader, Cheng Hui, who was playing on her phone a few steps away, had sent her a message.

    Hui: Are you ok?

Hui: Seems like you have something on your mind.

Wen Le looked at the two messages sent by Cheng Hui and was not sure how to reply to them.

She simply replied with a few words.

WL: I’m fine, I drank a little too much and my head hurts.

It was not that Wen Le did not want to say, but she didn’t even know what she was thinking; her thoughts and emotions were all a mess and incoherent.

Wen Le kept thinking of the person who sent her back today.

Having not seen him for three years, he was even more outstanding than he was before. Amidst the crowd, he could be spotted at a glance.

Wen Le recalled Zhou Kao’s profile under the light; his eyebrows and eyes, the bridge of his nose, his lips, neck, Adam’s apple, and the bit of clavicle exposed outside the black T-shirt.

He appeared cold and indifferent as if everything was beneath his contempt, this was coupled together with a deadly charm. But it was somewhat more restrained now compared to the past, yet seemingly it made him look more reserved and mature, making one unable to stop staring at him.

He was handsome to the point where it was a little excessive.

Wen Le loved anything that was beautiful and had little resistance to a top-level handsome guy like Zhou Kao.

    However Zhou Kao, this bastard…

Wen Le could not help but think of the past. The memory she thought had been forgotten for three years was still as clear as yesterday.

Wen Le grew up in a remote mountain village with idyllic surroundings in a southwestern province. Before she went to high school, they did not even have a computer at home.

As for Zhou Kao, the young master who was born with a golden spoon, he had been studying in a top private school from kindergarten all the way to high school, and he should have even been sent to university on a recommendation or should have studied abroad.

She and Zhou Kao should have never crossed paths.

However just three years ago, due to a job transfer, Zhou Kao’s father brought his family and relocated to the small remote city where the high school Wen Le was studying was located.

Zhou Kao transferred schools and became schoolmates with Wen Le.

For the first exam he took after transferring, Zhou Kao stole Wen Le’s No. 1 spot in the whole school by a difference of ten marks.

Ever since Wen Le started going to school at the age of seven, no one had been able to take the No. 1 spot from her. For nearly ten years, Wen Le had always occupied the No. 1 spot in the grade and had never been defeated.

Only in the second semester of their first year of high school, did she lose to Zhou Kao by a ten-mark difference.

That was the first time Wen Le had a taste of defeat.

Wen Le thus cried badly over this, and henceforth, completely regarded Zhou Kao as her life’s number one rival, even if Zhou Kao did not know of her existence.

As long as there was a  first time, there would inevitably be a second, third, and Nth time.

After three consecutive exams, one at the beginning of the semester, and two monthly exams, Wen Le suffered defeat one after another.

Beneath the surface, Wen Le was actually wild at heart. The more ladylike she appeared on the surface, the crazier she was inside.

The successive failures could not rattle Wen Le’s confidence. Instead, it incited her to try even harder through her defeats till she succeeded.

In the mid-term exam that year, Wen Le wrote an essay with a perfect score that got published in a magazine. She beat Zhou Kao with a difference of five points and retook the No. 1 spot.

That was also the first time Wen Le entered Zhou Kao’s life as a victor.

    *** back to the present

There seemed to be a faint smell of Wen Le’s perfume still lingering on his clothes, quietly seducing him in the tranquil summer night.

It was an elegant and charming light floral fragrance, just like how Wen Le was tonight.

Her long wavy hair, exquisite makeup, and bright, eye-catching red dress were beautiful yet also unfamiliar.

Zhou Kao could not help but reminisce the first time he met Wen Le.

At that time, his father had been schemed against and his career suffered from a setback. He was then transferred to a small remote city in the southwestern province. His father was worried about his safety, so he took his son along with him, and Zhou Kao was thus transferred to the only elite high school in that small city.

Resources were limited, and the knowledge taught did not provide sufficient depth and breadth. The school exams were relatively simple for him, and he easily attained the No. 1 spot within his year in several exams. But unfortunately, he always failed to widen the gap between himself and the No. 2 within their year. The gap between the second and third place was 50 points, and yet the gap between him and No. 2  was never more than 10 points. This made Zhou Kao put away his contempt for the school.

Zhou Kao had imagined that if the educational resources for both of them were the same, the competition between him and No. 2 would be even more intense.

However, one’s background was also a part of one’s strength. So Zhou Kao never once paid any heed to the No. 2.

It was not until that midterm exam when Zhou Kao was finally overtaken by the relentless No. 2, and managed to beat him with a five-point lead to gain back the No. 1 spot.

Zhou Kao had read her essay, it was brilliant yet still simple and sincere. It made one be amazed by the author’s age, while also admiring them greatly in their hearts.

An evenly-matched opponent was a very precious gift to each other.

Zhou Kao valued and respected this hard-to-come-by opponent in his heart.

The first time Zhou Kao really met Wen Le was at the grade assembly held after the midterm exam.

Like all the students present, Zhou Kao stood amongst the crowd under the flag platform in a blue and white school uniform, while looking at the flag platform.

It was at this moment that Wen Le entered his sight.

Just like everyone else, Wen Le was wearing a blue and white school uniform. At that time, Wen Le still had shoulder-length hair, and under the sun, it shone brownish-yellow.

Wen Le calmly walked to the microphone with a smile as the wind caressed her shoulder-length hair; she was proud and confident, in high spirits and her eyes were as if they were full of starlight.

The 16-year-old Wen Le without any makeup had a beauty that surpassed even the beauty of a lotus flower rising from under the water. It was a beauty that could amaze everyone with just a simple smile. Her innocent and tender appearance was like an orchid that had just bloomed in the morning, adorned with dew drops. Fresh, beautiful, and unforgettable.

Surprise and astonishment flashed in Zhou Kao’s eyes. It turned out that the owner of the name that had been mentioned countless times in his ears, that powerful opponent and talented writer, was such a beautiful and outstanding girl.

She had a temperament that was different from all the girls Zhou Kao had seen before. She was serene yet willful like an orchid. It was rare and precious, yet grew in this barren and remote corner. It made people wonder so that they could not help but want to find out more.

That was the first time Zhou Kao saw the brilliantly talented and overly beautiful Wen Le. No one could not help but be impressed by the 16-year-old Wen Le.

    Zhou Kao was no exception.

    A pity…

It was unsure what Zhou Kao had recalled; his eyebrows frowned slightly.

Forget it….it’s all in the past.

Zhou Kao was distraught by the mere thought of this.

Entering the dormitory right before the curfew, he was immediately blocked by his roommates as soon as he opened the door to their dorm. The three of them held a broom, ruler, and belt in their hands, respectively, posing as if they were going to extract a confession through cruel punishments.

Zhou Kao was helpless, “Are you guys very idle?

Roommate Hang Shuai, “There’s still a short paper that’s left which is due tomorrow, but that’s not important!”

Roommate Cheng Liang echoed loudly following with, “That’s not important! The important thing is that you have to give us an explanation!”

Roommate Lan Zhixin also followed, “Explain! When did you, when…”

As he talked, it was as if he got possessed by a drama queen, and said aggrievedly while sobbing, “When did you and my goddess, when wuuuuu~~~”

wuuuu – onomatopoeia for sobbing, crying

Before he finished his words, Lan Zhixin covered his face, pretending to cry.

Zhou Kao said indifferently, “Goddess? Who?”

Cheng Liang glared at him, “You dare say who! You dare say who?”

Lan Zhixin: “It’s, it’s the belle of the School of Economics & Management, my goddess Wen Le!”

“Wen Le?” Zhou Kao faintly smiled, “Your goddess?”

Lan Zhixin raised his chin, “What! Are you going to hit me?”

Zhou Kao ignored Lan Zhixin’s playing of tricks, and suddenly asked another question, “You said she was from the School of Economics & Management?”

Hang Shuai: “You don’t even know about this? What kind of boyfriend are you?”

Zhou Kao frowned slightly and said, “She’s not my girlfriend.”

Lan Zhixin was shocked, “You still don’t want to admit it! My goddess has already admitted! You scumbag!”

     Zhou Kao: ???

Zhou Kao pushed away the three of them blocking behind the door, too lazy to talk nonsense with them, and took out clothes to go and take a shower.

Behind him, he could still hear his roommates denouncing him.

    “You scumbag!”

    “Scumbag!”

    Zhou Kao: …

After Zhou Kao came out of the shower, Lan Zhixin still refused to give up, chasing after Zhou Kao and chattered endlessly, “Laoda*, what exactly is going on between you and my goddess? How did you two, the king and queen of visuals, get together?”

*laoda – a term to refer to someone who is the leader of a group or a boss, can also refer to someone who is the eldest in a family

“How could you not tell us you’re dating? No wonder you, the flower on a high peak*, have shown no interest in anyone. Turns out, you already have a girlfriend.”

*flower on a high peak – something out of one’s reach

Tsk tsk, if the girls in our major knew, all their hearts would be broken.”

Lan Zhixin grasped his heart and said, “My heart is also broken.”

Zhou Kao patiently explained it again, “We’d just met before, we’re not close.”

Cheng Liang rushed up front and asked curiously, “Then earlier…”

“Earlier, she was using me as an excuse to reject a confession,” Zhou Kao smirked, his tone sarcastic, “Can’t you tell?”

    Lan Zhixin: “Ahhhh, I see.”

    “You’re so pitiful.”

Zhou Kao looked at Lan Zhixin blankly.

Lan Zhixin sheepishly closed his mouth.

TN: I love Zhou Kao’s roommates ahahahaa

Lying on his bed typing his paper, Hang Shuai did not forget to chime in, saying, “It’s mainly because if you two are together, it’s too breaking of a news.”

Cheng Liang followed in agreement and said, “This won’t do. We won’t be able to bear it, we won’t be able to bear it.”

Lan Zhixin: “If you two are together, the number of people in school would reduce by half. Half of the girls would jump into the river due to heartbreak because of you, and half of the boys would jump from a building because of the goddess.”

Tsk tsk, you guys are committing an unpardonable sin.”

    The author wishes to say:

Awesome warning, a warning for the crematorium, hahaha

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 1

Hello! I’m Mai, the new translator on plumlizi~ Really hope that you guys will look forward to this novel ^^

    Met with a Confession

It was the start of sophomore year at university. The elections for the new term of the Student Union had just ended, and a gathering was to be held later in the evening at the barbeque place next to the school. Everyone was particularly high in spirits after having not met over break and was drinking happily. A senior sister had too much to drink and leaned against her boyfriend talking gibberish.

Under the influence of the lively atmosphere, Wen Le also drank two glasses. Her alcohol tolerance was only average, about the amount of one bottle of beer, and she refused to drink a sip beyond that.

Wen Le waved her hand, indicating to the upperclassman who was about to pour more alcohol into her glass, that she had enough. Instead of urging her to drink more, the upperclassman shot a glance at the guy opposite her, smiling, “Ok, do you want to drink something else then? I’ll ask Zhang Lin to help you girls get some.”

Wen Le was not familiar with Zhang Lin and only knew of him as a classmate from the same year but from a different department.

Wen Le replied, “I’m good. Xue Zhang*, you can go and ask what the other girls want to drink.”

*Xue zhang – a term to refer to an upperclassman

The upperclassman heard her words yet did not go and ask the other girls. He briefly greeted the girls beside Wen Le before moving on to pour drinks at another table.

Upon seeing the upperclassman leaving, the girl on Wen Le’s right nudged her, “What was that? Which ignorant young man’s heart has our beauty captured this time? Is there gonna be another special confession event taking place tonight?”

The short-haired girl on Wen Le’s left laughed and said, “Hey Qiu Yalin, are you blind? The group of guys across from us have been looking over here the whole night. Their undisguised fervent gazes, how’d you not noticed it at all!”

Qiu Yalin rolled her eyes and said, “Guan Yue, YOU are the blind one! Doesn’t our great beauty Wen experience this wherever she goes?”

Guan Yue shook her head, “NO, NO, NO. It’s different this time around. Look at that gaze,” saying this they first glanced at Wen Le, then at Zhang Lin, before smiling knowingly to themselves. Guan Yue added, “Just have a look yourself.”

Qiu Yalin sneered, “Ah, men and their endless conspiracies.”

Wen Le acted like she did not understand their teasings, picked up a piece of BBQ meat, and insipidly said, “Really? Eat this, it’s really good.”

Guan Yue laughed, “Don’t try to act like you don’t know! We’re asking you, what do you think?”

    Wen Le rolled her eyes.

Guan Yue placed a hand over her chest and exclaimed exaggeratedly, “How can a beauty’s eye roll be so fatally charming!”

Wen Le smiled, “You’re so annoying!”

Qiu Yalin tapped the table with her index finger and urged, “Quickly, tell us.”

Wen Le helplessly said, “I really don’t know him, and I just got to know his name.”

Guan Yue laughed heartily, “Is this how you’re planning to reject him later
‘You’re a good person, but I don’t really know you.’ Hahaha.”

Qiu Yalin followed in laughter and suddenly looked in Zhang Lin’s direction while resting her chin on her hand. She clicked her tongue and whispered, “To be honest, the little man is rather tall and handsome, his traits are all quite good.”

Then, in a sour tone lamented next, “Do all beauties have such advantages? All those who have confessed were either handsome, rich, or must’ve been overly confident.”

Wen Le did not have the habit of discussing such private matters of relationships with people she was not close to, thus she changed the topic while smiling, “As someone who already has a boyfriend, please don’t tease us single dogs anymore. It’s already sad enough that we have to see your affection (eat your dog food*) daily.”

*self-pity of single people triggered by public displays of affection online or offline. A popular catchphrase in China where single people refer to themselves as dogs.

Qiu Yalin sputtered in laughter, her gaze subconsciously wandering towards her boyfriend’s direction while smiling with much affection and happiness.

Guan Yue, who was sitting next to Qiu Yalin, rolled her eyes when she saw her lovey-dovey look and said teasingly, “Ah let’s see, who has such a bad sense of judgment to have arranged the seating in such a way and split the pair of couples up?”

Qiu Yalin coughed lightly in embarrassment, “We’re not to the point where we are unwilling to be separated…”

Guan Yue laughed aloud, “I think it’s about there though?”

The conversation finally shifted. Wen Le smoothly finished the remaining beer she had left. Without a word or movement, she withdrew from the conversation and while listening to the girls talking about topics of love, she suddenly felt listless.

Ever since the start of university, the prying into her love life had never stopped. It was as if in the eyes of the gossip mongers, a beauty who has always been single must have some sort of big secret worth gossiping about.

However the truth was, there was no such secret; she had no experience of being hurt, neither was she homosexual or had an unrequited love nor was she anti-marriage either. Her love life was akin to a notebook which was yellowed with age on the outside but was actually completely empty and white inside.

The reason why Wen Le chose to remain single was very simple. Just like how she chose to drink tea and not coffee, and chose to wear cotton pyjamas instead of silky nightwear, it was because she liked it and because it was comfortable.

It was also because she had not yet met a “coffee” or “silky nightwear” that could move her heart and change her mind.

The reason was simple to the point where nothing more could be said.

Wen Le was also too lazy to explain it to others.

Essentially, Wen Le did not really care about the impression that the gossip mongers had about her.

As school had just started, everyone was in high spirits having fun till late before they decided to call it a night. It was already close to 9.30 pm when they parted ways (TN: how is 9.30 pm very late hahaha??). After settling the bill, the vice-chair arranged for the students staying in the same dorm to help send the drunk students back, and also arranged for those guys who were still sober to accompany the girls back to their dormitory.

Wen Le’s cheeks were slightly flushed as her alcohol tolerance was weak. Even though she barely drank, her cheeks were still stained with a light pink, which contrasted with her ivory skin nicely.
Wen Le went back with a few other girls, and they were murmuring about something. She listened in on the conversation, and then realized they were talking about Zhang Lin again because he happened to be one of the guys who was sending them back.

The topic that Wen Le diverted at the dining table was shifted back to its original limelight, and the girls were teasingly making eyes at Wen Le.

Wen Le knew that they did not have any ill intentions, but she also did not give them any reaction.

On a summer night, the breeze was gently blowing while the silhouette of the leaves swayed in fragments. The dim streetlamp shone upon a group of men and women, talking and laughing, exuding the beauty of youths.

Their dormitories were located in different areas; when they reached the fork of the road, the guys and girls gradually separated.

There was no one else that stayed at the same dormitory as Wen Le, thus she waved goodbye to the few girls she was familiar with, but was teased by them. Wen Le had a hunch, she looked down and glanced at the ground. Not far behind, there were three boys’ shadows — evidently, Zhang Lin had not left.

At that moment, the rest of the girls had already left and only Wen Le and Zhang Lin were left on the road.

Wen Le followed the path faintly lit by the streetlamp and headed towards the direction of her dormitory, while occasionally taking note of the shadow behind her. Zhang Lin followed behind, but Wen Le acted as if she was not aware of him as she was not looking forward to the confession that was about to happen.

Wen Le’s attitude towards love was a bit more conservative — she did not approve of such one-sided heartfelt confessions. An untimely confession would only increase the awkwardness when working with each other in the future.

However, the guy behind her hesitated only for a moment before shouting, “Wen Le!”

Wen Le really wanted to act as if she did not hear it, but the campus was really too quiet at night; this soft call abruptly penetrated through the silent night.

Wen Le heaved a sigh and turned around.

Wen Le was a beauty worthy of the name; with an exquisite appearance, classical grace, a perfect figure, and excessively superior extrinsic conditions. When she first entered the campus as a freshman, she won the title of department belle with just her natural face.

Since then, suitors had advanced dauntlessly, wave upon wave repeatedly.

Wen Le’s immense popularity did not drop a bit since she was a freshman up til now as a sophomore, yet no one had managed to win the goddess’ heart.

Presently, Wen Le was standing under the dim yellow streetlamp, and looking at a beauty under the light only added to her charm.

Wen Le was dressed in a rather conservative style, with a skirt that had to pass the knee, short sleeves to the elbow, and buttons clipped all the way to the top. It seemed as if dressed in this way, it consolidated her appearance of a sweet-tempered lady, gentle like water.

However, such styling of clothes, if not done well, would make one appear dull and old-fashioned. Fortunately, she was rather vain and knew how to match her clothes, thus when paired with her classical grace, people often mistook her as a refined wealthy lady who stepped out of a last century’s movie set.

Zhang Lin looked at Wen Le, his heart and mind could not help but thump, and the words he did not dare to say finally rushed out of his mouth.

    “Wen Le, I like…”

Wen Le, however, suddenly cut off Zhang Lin’s confession. She looked behind Zhang Lin’s direction, and waved her hand, “I’m right here!”

Wen Le had forgotten how long it had been since she had such a strong impulse. She thought the alcohol had probably numbed her brain, and her sanity had retreated in this quiet and tense night, allowing her impulse to gain the upper hand.

So when Wen Le saw the person appearing from not far away, she was incited under the influence of alcohol and acted on impulse for once.

Zhang Lin dazedly stared at Wen Le as she smiled and walked up to a man, intimately holding onto his arm. She seemed to have remembered something, turned around and said to Zhang Lin, “Thank you! Someone came to pick me up, you don’t have to send me off anymore. Bye!”

Zhang Lin was stunned by Wen Le’s move and did not see that the person whose arm was held on by Wen Le frowned imperceptibly. He subconsciously wanted to pull his hand away, but when he noticed that Wen Le was gripping his hand tightly out of nervousness, he hesitated for a moment, and then gave up.

But this subtle movement did not go unnoticed by Wen Le.

Wen Le felt that her brain was split into two halves, and one half had already turned to mush.

Muddleheaded, she completely neglected Zhang Lin’s presence. In fact, Wen Le did not even notice that there were other people around, and more so, did not notice that their pupils were quivering like an earthquake in shock.

Whereas the other half of her brain was swiftly turning, capturing and observing every movement and reaction of the person beside her. Hence, Wen Le noticed his resistance and nervousness at the beginning, but then this person suddenly relaxed his tensed muscles. Wen Le secretly breathed a sigh of relief and settled half of her worries, but in her heart, she secretly cursed herself that she must be crazy.

Walking all the way to a corner, and after turning around and not being able to see Zhang Lin’s figure, Wen Le gave a sigh of relief. She let go of Zhou Kao’s arm, and her reasoning slowly returned with the embarrassment finally flooding in.

Impulsiveness was really akin to the devil. Wen Le wailed in grief in her heart but did not reveal an inch of what she was really feeling on her face. She suppressed her embarrassment, slowly backed up two steps while slightly smiling, and spoke softly and graciously with a little drunkenness in her voice, “Long time no see, Zhou Kao.”

She had not taken a closer look earlier, but now she discovered that after three years of not meeting, Zhou Kao had changed a lot, and he seemed to be even more mature and handsome than the figure in her memory. She had to admit that thus far, Wen Le had not seen anyone who matched her standards in terms of looks more than Zhou Kao’s.

Wen Le looked up and examined  Zhou Kao, while Zhou Kao and his three dorm mates behind were also checking Wen Le out. The department belle of the School of Economics & Management had a famous reputation, however, she looked unexpectedly even more beautiful in real life than the rumours.

The three people behind made some restless movements as if they wanted to express something to Zhou Kao, but he ignored them. He smelt a faint whiff of alcohol, and could not help but glance at Wen Le for a moment, “You drank alcohol?”

Wen Le did not reply to him, only raised her wrist to look at the time, “Thank you so much for tonight, my head’s feeling a bit faint so I’ll go back first, see you.”

Upon this, Zhou Kao subtly frowned, “I’ll send you back.”

Wen Le replied, “No need, it’s very near.”

However, Zhou Kao turned around and signalled to his dorm mates to head back first, and then said to Wen Le, “Let’s go.”

Amidst his dorm mates’ hollering, he took the lead and started walking ahead.
