I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 70

    He Should Be Mine

As the exam week approached, Wen Le and Cheng Hui spent almost every day together in the library. One afternoon, they received a call from Zhou Kao. Zhou Kao’s cousin came to A University to invite Zhou Kao for a meal and, having heard that Zhou Kao had a girlfriend, wanted to invite them both to meet over a meal.

Zhou Kao called to ask Wen Le if she would like to go. Although Wen Le was somewhat embarrassed, she did not refuse.

On Saturday night, it snowed heavily, and when they woke up on Sunday, the world was a beautiful silver-white. Wen Le, who grew up in the southern mountains, had rarely seen snow and happily looked out the window, only to see Zhou Kao standing below the dormitory building.

This was their first date since their relationship became public. Zhou Kao was dressed quite flamboyantly, wearing a handsome black wool coat, standing tall with long legs, just standing straight below the girls’ dormitory waiting for Wen Le. The black coat against the snow-white world created a stark visual contrast that made the scene look like a beautiful picture from a movie, drawing the attention of passersby.

However, Wen Le somewhat spoilingly cursed Zhou Kao under her breath for not wearing a scarf or hat. Did he want to look good at the cost of his life?

Wen Le knew how cold it was outside and quickly took the longest white wool scarf from her closet and ran downstairs with it.

Zhou Kao had messaged on WeChat that he was coming to pick her up for a meal. Wen Le was already dressed and ready, having been bored and watching the snow from the window, so she was ready to go out at any time.

Wen Le stepped out of the dormitory, and her boots made a crunching sound on the snow. Zhou Kao turned at the sound, and before he even saw her, he smiled—a smile that was warmer than the winter sun, making one feel warm all over.

Wen Le walked up to him and stood in front of Zhou Kao, reaching out to pinch him at the waist in a spot where others couldn’t see.

Zhou Kao inhaled sharply from the pain.

Wen Le did not loosen her grip, and while pinching Zhou Kao, she felt the thickness of his clothes with her fingers, unintentionally increasing her strength when she realised how thin his clothes were for the winter.

Wen Le gritted her teeth, “Dressing so thinly in such cold weather to charm young girls?”

Enduring the pain, Zhou Kao held Wen Le’s hand, “Isn’t it just so you would love me a little more every time you see me?”

Wen Le felt the burning warmth of Zhou Kao’s hand, thinking that he must not be cold, and then let go, “Lower your head.”

Zhou Kao, with a smile at the corner of his mouth, modestly lowered his proud head.

As he did so, Zhou Kao’s handsome face came closer to Wen Le, who traced the contours of his deep features and handsome eyebrows with her eyes, filled with an unnoticeable tenderness.

Wen Le carefully wrapped the still-warm wool scarf she was holding around Zhou Kao’s neck and took the time to adjust it to match his refined outfit.

    “All done.”

Zhou Kao didn’t look up but quickly scanned the surroundings. There weren’t many people paying attention to them at the moment. Zhou Kao quickly kissed Wen Le on the face and then stood straight, acting gentlemanly, “Let’s go.”

Wen Le, covering the kissed spot, blushed deeply and glared at Zhou Kao. But the glare was timid, lacking force, instead full of charm.

Zhou Kao’s mouth curved slightly, and his warm hand took one of Wen Le’s small hands and tucked it into his coat pocket.

Wen Le blushed slightly and tried to pull her hand back gently, but couldn’t, so she let Zhou Kao lead her forward, her face still flushed. Walking on the snowy, slippery road, they moved slowly. Other students occasionally passed by, inevitably giving the celebrity couple extra glances.

Wen Le was used to being watched since she was young and didn’t mind the scrutiny of others. However, this was the first time she felt self-conscious about being watched because of her relationship. She tightened her grip on Zhou Kao’s hand a bit more.

Zhou Kao, acting as if it was no big deal, squeezed Wen Le’s hand back. He had always wanted to let everyone know and wished for more of such attention.

The winters in Beijing are cold, and Wen Le would usually wrap herself in a down jacket, preferring to look like a dumpling rather than maintain a so-called graceful appearance. But this time, since they were going to meet Zhou Kao’s cousin, Wen Le naturally couldn’t allow herself to appear in the image of a “fat dumpling.” So, she made an effort to dress a bit more carefully.

Zhou Kao’s cousin, Pang Xingguang, the young master of Pang’s Group with businesses sprawling across the entertainment industry, didn’t want to inherit the family business. Instead, he aimed to become a director after attending an arts academy.

With the dream of becoming an artist, cousin Pang dressed the part, looking like an artist with his height of 185 cm, tanned skin, small pigtail, and mustache, wearing a floral shirt and loose black pants, a bit unkempt but with a good foundation.

After Zhou Kao introduced them, Pang Xingguang was visibly shocked and amazed upon seeing Wen Le, unable to believe his eyes.

    “This…this is your girlfriend?”

    “From your school?”

“Really? You’re not fooling me, cousin?”

    “Wow!”

Zhou Kao gave Pang Xingguang a warning glare. Realising his overreaction, Pang Xingguang coughed lightly and tried to smile warmly and elegantly at Wen Le, “Please don’t misunderstand, I was just too shocked.”

“I really didn’t expect it. Why are the girls at your school even prettier than our school’s beauty? Isn’t our school the one with the arts college?”

Pang Xingguang then teasingly hit Zhou Kao, asking, “Where did you find such a beautiful girlfriend? And she’s a top student from your school?”

“Sister-in-law, come be the leading lady in my movie! I guarantee you’ll become famous overnight. Please, I sincerely invite you…”

Before he could finish, Zhou Kao pushed him away, saying bluntly, “If you’re not eating, then leave.”

    Pang Xingguang snorted, “Crude!”

“Let’s not lower ourselves to his level, sister-in-law. Let me tell you about my movie project. Anyone who stars in it will become a star overnight.”

Zhou Kao then pushed Pang Xingguang’s head back, firmly stating, “Stop dreaming. She’s the sole heir of the Wen family.”

Zhou Kao deliberately emphasised the last few syllables to make his point clear.

Pang Xingguang, who didn’t catch it at first, asked, “What?”

    “The Wen family…”

Could it be the Wen family that just returned to Beijing?

    The sole heir?

The only successor of the Wen family?

Pang Xingguang’s eyes widened in shock as he suddenly remembered a conversation from a few days ago.

His parents were complaining about how his uncles and aunts were fussing over why the eldest son of the Zhou family would possibly marry into another family, questioning the couple’s decision.

His mother even laughed at the time, saying his uncles and aunts were overthinking. Now, it seemed, it wasn’t baseless worry after all but something Zhou Kao had orchestrated…

The Wen family, having been away from Beijing for many years, still had a well-established foundation that none of the old families could forget.

It had always been rumoured that the head of the Wen family, Wen Tianqi, was single with no heirs, leading to speculation about who would inherit the vast Wen estate. Little did anyone expect that the Wen family had a daughter…

It was a pity for Pang Xingguang that this sole heir of the Wen family had been “snatched away” by his cousin before she even became known to the public.

Tsk tsk tsk, what good luck Zhou Kao has.

Considering the Wen family’s scarce lineage, if there truly was only this one daughter, it wouldn’t be unreasonable for them to request the husband to marry into their family.

However, given that both the Zhou and Wen families were not ordinary, with Zhou Kao being the only son of Zhou Chengyun, who also needed to uphold his family’s name, it complicated matters.

All these thoughts flashed through Pang Xingguang’s mind for a moment, and he wisely kept his mouth shut. The notion of becoming instantly famous was unrealistic for someone from a family like Wen’s, which, similar to the Zhou family, would prefer its members to avoid the limelight, especially the heirs.

Pang Xingguang felt a sense of regret, surrounded by such high-quality resources yet unable to utilize them for the entertainment industry. The fact that his cousin, with such a striking appearance, could not join the entertainment circle was frustrating enough. Now Zhou Kao had found an equally stunning girlfriend from a family with significant influence, beyond Pang Xingguang’s reach.

As an aspiring director, the pain of not being able to cast the actors he desired was immense. Drinking his sorrows away, Pang Xingguang lamented: why were there so many hurdles and setbacks on his path to becoming a director?

Despite his grievances, Pang Xingguang, a chatterbox by nature, ensured there was never a dull moment during the meal, adeptly including Wen Le and maintaining the conversation. Even when Zhou Kao stepped away to take a call, he continued to chat with Wen Le about the current state of capital flow in the entertainment industry.

The restaurant was warm, a bit too warm, and Wen Le took off her coat, revealing a white dress with puff sleeves she was wearing underneath. The puff sleeves were designed with two zippers near the wrists.

One of the gold zippers dangled on her forearm, its zipper a coin-sized circle featuring the iconic decoration of Wen Le’s orchid production line—a circular orchid relief with a diamond in the centre. The zipper made a pleasant, crisp sound as it moved up and down with Wen Le’s movements.

Pang Xingguang glanced at it unconsciously, his gaze just sweeping over it briefly before he seemed to think of something and frowned slightly.

Seemingly recalling something, he casually remarked, “Sister-in-law, the pattern on your dress is a ‘dragon’ character, right?”

Wen Le looked at the orchid mark on her zipper and shook her head, “No, it should be ‘Song Mei’. Cousin, are you into orchids?”

Pang Xingguang took a sip of his drink and replied, “Not really, it’s just that the strokes of this orchid looked familiar to me, similar to an orchid painting at my cousin’s house. I initially thought someone took that painting and made it into a trademark. I didn’t expect it to actually be ‘Song Mei’.”

Pang Xingguang took a bite of his food and added, “Zhou Kao’s family has an orchid painting, but it’s not ‘Song Mei’, it’s ‘dragon’. It looks a lot like the orchid pattern on your zipper.”

Wen Le casually asked, “Who painted it?”

Pang Xingguang said, “I think it was Mr. Yu Shi*.”

After the meal, Zhou Kao’s cousin had to leave first due to some matters.

As the exam week was approaching, both academic and study schedules were getting busier, not just for Wen Le but Zhou Kao as well. So, after spending a little time together, they left.

Thinking about what Pang Xingguang had said that evening, Wen Le called her grandfather.

A few days after Wen Le and Zhou Kao met Pang Xingguang, Su Zhenzhen sought her out, specifically, Su Zhenzhen called Wen Le to arrange a meeting.

Wen Le didn’t find Su Zhenzhen’s actions strange at all.

Since the entire school knew about her relationship with Zhou Kao, including Sun Youmei, it wasn’t surprising to Wen Le that Su Zhenzhen knew about her too.

It had been a long time since Wen Le had seen or even thought of the name Su Zhenzhen. It seemed that ever since the last mixer, where Zhou Kao had said something to Su Zhenzhen, she hadn’t bothered Wen Le and Zhou Kao anymore.

Wen Le didn’t know what exactly Zhou Kao had said to Su Zhenzhen, but it probably completely discouraged Su Zhenzhen. Wen Le thought Su Zhenzhen had given up, but what she didn’t expect was that although Su Zhenzhen had given up, she wanted Wen Le to give up as well.

Now, Su Zhenzhen seemed to have the extreme mentality of “even though I can’t have Zhou Kao, you lowlifes can’t have him either.

Wen Le didn’t refuse Su Zhenzhen’s request to meet. Although she didn’t know what Su Zhenzhen was planning, she felt it was better to resolve such matters sooner rather than later. She didn’t want someone so inexplicable to interfere with her relationship with Zhou Kao.

Su Zhenzhen probably wanted to intimidate Wen Le by inviting her to a high-end restaurant owned by a Spaniard.

Wen Le, unfazed, gladly accepted the invitation.

Arriving early, Wen Le mentioned Su Zhenzhen’s name, and a waiter led her to a table in an elegantly decorated setting, where a small group performed classical music on stage.

Wen Le noticed many foreign waiters here, who spoke a bit of Chinese but mainly communicated in English and Spanish.

It wasn’t long before Su Zhenzhen arrived.

With her haughty demeanour and overly extravagant attire, Su Zhenzhen looked like a warrior entering the battlefield, seemingly determined to intimidate Wen Le. Dressed in an expensive Chanel haute couture, carrying a Hermès bag, and sitting across Wen Le with her Louboutin shoes and a diamond-encrusted ladies’ watch, she was the epitome of walking money.

Su Zhenzhen sat down gracefully, and when the waiter presented the menu, she didn’t order but handed it to Wen Le with a smile, asking, “Would you like something to drink?”

The menu was entirely in Spanish, as Wen Le discovered.

Su Zhenzhen watched her with a smug smile, seemingly waiting for Wen Le to make a fool of herself.

Wenle glanced at the menu, smiled back, and thought to herself: Childish tricks.

As Wen Le closed the menu, Su Zhenzhen’s smile grew more triumphant.

Then, Wen Le spoke fluently in perfect Spanish.

The smile dropped from Su Zhenzhen’s face, disappointed from not seeing Wen Le’s embarrassment.

After the waiter left, Su Zhenzhen, while picking up a napkin, remarked, “Well prepared, I see.”

Wen Le simply smiled, saying nothing.

She hadn’t expected to live out a clichéd TV drama scenario but guessed Su Zhenzhen’s intention was to show the vast gap between their worlds by bringing her to such an upscale Western restaurant, where a cup of coffee could cost hundreds, hoping to intimidate her into backing down.

Unfortunately for Su Zhenzhen, she chose a Spanish restaurant.

What kind of people were Wen Le’s grandparents?

They were renowned intellectuals even during the Republic of China era, and their granddaughter was no less exceptional.

After compulsory education, there’s hardly anyone who doesn’t know of Mr. Yu Shi. Those more familiar with his work know that Mr. Yu Shi wasn’t just a brilliant writer but also knowledgeable in calligraphy, traditional Chinese painting, astronomy, geography, and Chinese studies, and was said to be fluent in several foreign languages.

Wen Le never attended preschool; instead, she was homeschooled by her grandparents from three until she started elementary school at seven.

While others had ordinary preschool teachers, Wen Le’s tutors were respected experts in their fields.

While other children were introduced to bilingual education early on, Wen Le was immersed in various foreign languages by her grandparents.

Unfortunately, Wen Le wasn’t a natural-born genius and couldn’t reach the level her grandfather did, but she managed to master English and could even stumble through simple conversations in French and Spanish with her grandfather.

Wen Le didn’t consider herself to be particularly intelligent; all her accolades were the result of hard work.

Thus, Su Zhenzhen’s initial attempt to unsettle Wen Le inevitably fell flat.

But Su Zhenzhen assumed Wen Le had merely scrambled to prepare by looking things up on her phone after arriving at the restaurant.

Wen Le sat there, smiling at Su Zhenzhen.

Su Zhenzhen idly toyed with the diamond clasp on her platinum bag, appraising Wen Le.

Wen Le spoke up, “Miss Su, let’s not play these games. If you have something to say, just be direct. It’ll save us both some time, don’t you think?”

Su Zhenzhen’s smile vanished, and she looked at Wen Le with a mocking sneer, “Does being with Zhou Kao make you feel proud? Seeing Zhou Kao choose you, someone from a poor background, over someone wealthy like me, must feel like a triumph, right? Do you think you’re just one step away from marrying into wealth and changing your social status, becoming a lady of leisure?”

Su Zhenzhen, speaking to herself, chuckled, “Do you really think the Zhou family would accept a gold-digger like you? They would never allow Zhou Kao to be with someone like you.”

“Wow, Miss Su, do you realise you’re acting like the stereotypical meddlesome mother-in-law from a soap opera, as an outsider no less?” Wen Le retorted with a smile, “What’s next? Are you going to offer me five million to leave Zhou Kao?”

Su Zhenzhen was visibly infuriated, her hand raised as if to slap Wen Le, but then she seemed to reconsider and restrained herself. Lowering her hand, she coldly stated, “There’s no need for such a strong reaction. I’m only speaking the truth. Just listen to me.”

    Wen Le: …

So, who’s really having a strong reaction here?

Su Zhenzhen continued, “Even if Zhou Kao’s parents might not object, the rest of the Zhou family certainly would. Zhou Kao is the brightest future of the Zhou family. Neither Old Master Zhou nor any other elder would allow him to be with someone of mismatched social standing.”

“Someone like Zhou Kao, a young master, is expected to marry into an equal, traditional wealthy family. Besides, Zhou Kao’s family has strict rules; they wouldn’t keep you as a mistress, nor would he divorce for you. Many girls dream of marrying into wealth, but we’ve grown tired of such schemes. The only ones who fall for them are fools and the worthless. The truly discerning scions of wealthy families won’t even consider you; at most, you’re just a fling.”

“Don’t start with how times have changed. Wealthy and ordinary families are worlds apart. Maybe I can’t have Zhou Kao, but you’ll never end up with him either. Dreaming of marrying into the Zhou family is pure fantasy.”

“I suggest you see the reality sooner and collaborate with me. Clear up any misunderstandings Zhou Kao has about me, and I can introduce you to other wealthy heirs, ensuring you marry well. How does that sound? You’re a smart woman. Chasing Zhou Kao is a waste of time, but working with me could secure your place in a wealthy family, maybe not as wealthy as Zhou Kao’s, but glamorous enough for a lifetime.”

“Wen Le, you’re intelligent. Think it over.”

At that moment, the waiter arrived with the coffee, and Wen Le remained silent.

Today, Wen Le purposely wore the same white bubble-sleeve dress that she had on during her last meeting with Pang Xingguang when she met with Su Zhenzhen.

As the waiter was serving dessert, Wen Le remained silent, casually fiddling with the two coin-sized zipper pulls on her bubble sleeves. This action of playing with the zipper pulls was eerily similar to Su Zhenzhen’s earlier fidgeting with the diamond clasp on her bag.

If Pang Xingguang, a straightforward man, noticed the zipper pulls, how could Su Zhenzhen, a woman, not?

Su Zhenzhen looked over and saw the somewhat conspicuous orchid mark on the zipper pulls, feeling it looked… familiar…

Suddenly, Su Zhenzhen’s pupils shrank as she remembered something.

    Tan Xiangxiang…

Tan Xiangxiang was a girl of the same age from Su Zhenzhen’s social circle, but Tan Xiangxiang came from a slightly better background, always acting superior around Su Zhenzhen, who could never stand her.

It seems natural to pay attention to one’s rivals, and Su Zhenzhen inevitably kept tabs on Tan Xiangxiang.

She would check Tan Xiangxiang’s account, “Tan Xiang Very Fragrant,” several times a week to stay updated on her rival and to mock and ridicule her.

How could she not know about the incident that made Tan Xiangxiang a hot topic on Weibo and even trending not too long ago?

The Tan family was an older and more established family than the Su family, and indeed, Tan Xiangxiang knew more than her, a fact that Su Zhenzhen reluctantly acknowledged.

Su Zhenzhen had vaguely heard about Le Yin but Tan Xiangxiang had always boasted about her grandmother being a member of the Le Yin society, and when Su Zhenzhen tried to inquire about it, Tan Xiangxiang refused to divulge any details.

Thus, it was only from trending searches that Su Zhenzhen learned what Le Yin really represented.

Le Yin belonged to the Tianyin Group, but Su Zhenzhen was not familiar with Tianyin, so she turned to her father for information.

Her father mentioned it was a very prestigious family, as influential as the Zhou family, and admitted, “That’s an old nobility we can’t aspire to.”

When Su Zhenzhen asked her father how one could become a member of the Le Yin society and have a production line of their own, her father told her to abandon the thought, saying even Tan Xiangxiang shouldn’t bother with such dreams. Unless she married into a family like the Zhou family and gained recognition from that old nobility circle, then she may have a chance.

Only then did Su Zhenzhen realise the vast distance between their family and that exclusive circle.

Scenes flashed before Su Zhenzhen’s eyes.

Su Zhenzhen stared at the orchid pattern on Wen Le’s dress, identical to the enlarged orchid mark she saw in a trending post…

Disbelieving, Su Zhenzhen stared at Wen Le, hoping she would say it was just a copy, but how could a copy be made so quickly?

Wen Le, however, was smiling, gently touching the zipper pull, and said, “You recognize it?”

“This is Song Mei, along with the Dragon, they are known as the twin jewels of the national orchids.”

“It is said that on the day I was born, my grandfather, inspired by excitement, drew two sketches of flowers and plants, one called Song Mei and the other called Dragon. These two sketches were brimming with divine inspiration and vitality, making them among my grandfather’s rare masterpieces. My grandmother saw this as a good omen and loved both sketches very much. She used them as the original designs for two series of Le Yin: the Song Mei and the Dragon series.”

“My grandmother attributed the Song Mei series to me, making it mine, while the Dragon series remains sealed to this day. My grandmother intends to unveil the Dragon series on the day of my engagement, as the first engagement gift I will give to my beloved.”

Wen Le touched the zipper pull gently and said with a smile, “Isn’t it romantic?”

“Even more romantic is that ten years ago, my grandfather gave the Dragon sketch to a close friend. After the friend passed away, the Dragon sketch passed through many hands until four years ago, when Master Zhou from the Zhou family bought it for 12 million. Coincidentally, when Mr. Zhou asked Zhou Kao what he wanted for his birthday that year, Zhou Kao pointed to that orchid sketch and said, ‘I want that.’ So Mr. Zhou gave the Dragon sketch to Zhou Kao.”

“Four years ago… It was also the year Zhou Kao and I met in a remote town.”

Wen Le gently played with the zipper pull on her hand, looking at Su Zhenzhen with a smile, and asked, “Now, don’t you even think Zhou Kao should be mine?”

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 69

    Formidable Woman

Cheng Hui burst into laughter while holding her phone, “Hahaha, now the whole internet is feasting on your lovey-dovey moments, hahaha.”

Wen Le suddenly turned and stared at Cheng Hui. Cheng Hui, feeling unnerved under Wen Le’s scrutiny, asked, “What’s up?”

Wen Le skeptically assessed Cheng Hui with suspicion and said, “Why do I feel like this is your doing?”

Cheng Hui widened her eyes in an attempt to look innocent, “How could it be? I’m a lurking expert, okay?”

Wen Le still didn’t seem convinced and continued to scrutinise Cheng Hui.

Cheng Hui said, “It really wasn’t me.”

Wen Le finally shifted her gaze away after staring at Cheng Hui for a while. Cheng Hui patted her chest lightly behind Wen Le, laughing and thinking to herself: Really, it wasn’t me who posted that. I just happened to share the news about the ring with a friend, and that friend coincidentally made the post. It definitely has nothing to do with me.

Seeing that Wen Le was no longer suspicious and headed to the restroom with her phone, Cheng Hui took out her phone to read the comments. She enjoyed the groundhogs’ screams and various critiques. Back in the day, she had to endure the bombardment of dog food alone, which was genuinely hard, but now, haha!

Cheng Hui found some balance in seeing others suffer in the post. However, the thread contained not only the joyful sounds of groundhogs but also some discordant voices.

    – One hundred thousand dollars? Wow, Zhou Kao’s wealthy and handsome image is confirmed.

    – Wasn’t it always assumed that Zhou Kao was wealthy and handsome? What is there to question? You can look up the Simpson Private High School where Zhou Kao attended high school. The tuition there is more than an ordinary couple’s annual income. It’s undoubtedly a gathering place for rich second-generation and children of the powerful.

    – Zhou Kao has always been low-key. His clothes don’t reveal anything, and his car is just a Volkswagen Magotan worth two or three hundred thousand.

    – The commenter above probably didn’t see the Magotan with the Beijing A license plate.

    – I suggest you go back and watch the video of them fighting. There is a black sports car parked in the parking lot that seems to belong to Zhou Kao. Someone saw Zhou Kao getting out of that car, but there were no pictures. But in fact, this makes sense. What were they doing in the parking lot? If Zhou Kao’s Magotan is not there, it means he was driving another car.

Cheng Hui looked at the comments, tutting twice. She took a bite of an apple and said to Wen Le, “Your Zhou Kao is too low-key. Wearing clothes without any obvious brands, driving a two or three hundred thousand Magotan – that’s low-key! That’s profound! It’s like, OMG!”

Wen Le chuckled, “Then you probably don’t know that this supposedly low-key person with a two-hundred-thousand car wears a ninety-thousand-dollar watch.”

Cheng Hui choked on her apple at Wen Le’s revelation, coughing dramatically. Wen Le shot her a glance and went over to pat her back, and Cheng Hui, red-faced, took a while to recover. She took a deep breath, pressed down her surprise, and said, “You… this… do all you rich people have to be so unconventional?”

Wen Le pondered for a moment, thinking that she, who had considered her family poor while living in the mountains for many years, probably had no grounds to refute.

Cheng Hui didn’t really care about Wen Le’s response. She remembered something else and asked, “Is that McLaren really Zhou Kao’s?”

Wen Le nodded, “Seems like it.”

Curious, Cheng Hui asked, “Why did he suddenly drive a sports car that day? For a romantic date like in a drama?”

Wen Le looked a bit embarrassed, “No, it’s just that his Magotan ran out of gas…”

    Cheng Hui remained expressionless, “Oh…”

Cheng Hui said with determination, “CP fans won’t accept such absurd reasons! I unilaterally declare that he deliberately drove the sports car to take you on a special date!”

    Wen Le: !

#What to do if your roommate is a CP fan of you and your significant other, urgent online#

Cheng Hui waved her hand, “Alright, go freshen up. I’ll continue browsing the forums, hehehe.”

Wen Le cautiously said, “I remember you don’t like this kind of lovey-dovey stuff.”

Cheng Hui, with a forced smile, replied, “Oh, right, I don’t like it.”

Wen Le: Shouldn’t she control that weird smile on her face when saying such things?

Cheng Hui shooed her away, “Okay, go do your stuff. I’ll keep browsing the forums.”

    Wen Le: “Oh.”

As Wen Le turned around, Cheng Hui’s mouth curled up in a strange smile. She quickly switched to a WeChat conversation on her phone.

Hui: Got some gossip! Come quickly!

After sharing some half-true sugar with her girlfriends, Cheng Hui ran back to check the forum comments. Initially, she wanted some comfort from other users, but the comments left her a bit annoyed.

-Cried while searching for the price of that sports car. Not only is the person beautiful, the car is beautiful, and the price is even more beautiful… Is Zhou Kao the male lead in some fairy tale?

-So, the girl from the slums, Wen Le, is going to marry into a wealthy family? Not surprising at all, rather expected. Ambition and beauty of this level in a girl naturally point to marrying into wealth, right?

-Throwing out rings worth tens of thousands; Zhou Kao is indeed generous. Today, I saw him giving Wen Le several top-notch luxuries, one from Chanel, one from Dior, and one from Hermes. Envious sigh.

Cheng Hui got a bit angry for a moment but then strangely smiled.

Looking at the sarcastic comments, Cheng Hui couldn’t help but shed some tears of sympathy for these people.

Hahaha, they probably don’t know that this girl they see as scheming to marry into wealth is actually the sole heir of the super-wealthy Wen family, the Miss of Tianyin Group, and the future employer of some of these people.

Cheng Hui’s imagination ran wild as she envisioned a grand drama unfolding.

[The online lemon trolls aimed their sour comments and derogatory remarks at Wen Le, suggesting that she was trying to marry into wealth using her looks, labeling her as a scheming gold digger. After graduating from university, she fought through various struggles and competitions to enter Tianyin Group. Suddenly, one day, she encountered Wen Tianqi, the head of the Wen family, inspecting the company with their supposed sole heir, the prince… no, princess… wasn’t that Wen Le, whom they had accused of wanting to marry into wealth? Then, Wen Le introduced herself with a smile, “Hello everyone, I’m Wen Le, the Wen from Wen, and the Le from music.”]

“Poof!” Cheng Hui couldn’t help but burst into laughter, rolling around on the bed despite not being the protagonist.

Watching Cheng Hui’s antics, Wen Le remained impassive, thinking that when Bao Xiaofan and Man Qingxuan returned later, there would be more commotion. She wondered how Sun Youmei would react.

Sure enough, when Sun Youmei and Bao Xiaofan returned to the dorm, there were two more prairie dogs in the room.

Perhaps Sun Youmei had learned from the forums about Wen Le and Zhou Kao being together before returning to the dorm. Her face didn’t look good when she returned, and it turned even worse as she saw Wen Le packing up the three bags of gifts. She looked so jealous that her eyes turned red.

Watching Wen Le’s triumphant demeanor in love made Sun Youmei feel both jealous and angry. Whether it was jealousy or anger that surged in her heart as she watched Wen Le pack up the gifts from her boyfriend was unclear.

Imagining herself in the past being affectionate with her boyfriend, receiving luxury gifts from him, and being envied and praised by others, everything had changed now. She lost her boyfriend, lost the luxury gifts, and Wen Le replaced her, basking in glory.

Sun Youmei felt like her position had been usurped and imitated by Wen Le, making it impossible for her to smile. So, in the cheerful atmosphere of the dorm, she sarcastically said, “Congratulations, turns out you’re amazing.”

Everyone present sensed something was off with her words, and there was a moment of awkward silence. Wen Le couldn’t be bothered and changed the subject with Cheng Hui.

The next day was a Saturday and Cheng Hui had slept in, which was rare for her. When she woke up, the dorm was surprisingly empty. It then occurred to her that Bao Xiaofan and Man Qingxuan had found temporary weekend jobs.

Cheng Hui got out of bed to freshen up, and Wen Le, hearing the noise, sat up on her bed. The prominent dark circles under her fair complexion were particularly noticeable.

Cheng Hui was startled, “What’s wrong with you?”

Wen Le scratched her head, “Insomnia.”

    Cheng Hui asked, “Why insomnia?”

Cheng Hui couldn’t help but think of those sour comments on the forum insinuating that Wen Le wanted to marry into wealth. Could it be that Wen Le had seen those comments and was upset, unable to sleep?

Cheng Hui felt uncomfortable at the thought. If Wen Le, who frequently browsed the forums, was constantly disturbed by such comments, it would be too hard for her.

Wen Le didn’t say anything, but she looked distressed as she ran her fingers through her hair.

Cheng Hui became more convinced that Wen Le had seen that post, so she tentatively said, “Did you see someone on the forum saying you’re…”

Wen Le sighed in frustration, “Yes, they said Zhou Kao gave me luxury goods, and it made me realise something belatedly.”

Wen Le felt particularly disheartened, “The things Zhou Kao gave me were bought with his own money. But if I want to buy him something of similar value, I have to use the money from my dad’s account. Although I aspire to support a boyfriend, the premise is to support myself through my own efforts… But now, even if I want to buy a gift for my boyfriend, I have to use money from my dad, and I feel so ashamed.”

Wen Le sighed, “I just realised that Zhou Kao and I are not economically equal, and I feel a lot of pressure.”

Cheng Hui listened in surprise, “So, you couldn’t sleep because you felt pressured that Zhou Kao earns more money than you?”

Wen Le shook her head, “Not exactly. Mainly, I spent the whole night thinking about ways to make money. Although I can’t match Zhou Kao’s wealth in the short term, I want to, at least, reach a point where I don’t have to worry about giving him gifts in the future.”

    Cheng Hui: …

This woman is too formidable. And strangely, how did such a strong-willed woman manage to get out of being single?

Cheng Hui asked, “So, have you figured it out?”

Wen Le nodded and gestured with her thumb and index finger, “I somewhat have an idea.”

Cheng Hui was speechless, “So, you weren’t upset and unable to sleep because people online called you a gold digger?”

Wen Le waved her hand, “They’re not wrong; I’m pretty gold-digging now. Before, I lost motivation and purpose when my family suddenly became rich. But after thinking all night, I’ve realised my new goal: I want to economically suppress Zhou Kao!”

Wen Le was somewhat excited, and her eyes were filled with determination, even with the prominent dark circles.

Cheng Hui looked at Wen Le and muttered, “You look like you joined a revolutionary organisation…”

Excitedly, Wen Le jumped off the bed and hugged Cheng Hui, “Ah, I’m so happy, dorm mate! You must find a boyfriend who can inspire your fighting spirit. This feeling is really amazing. I’m filled with strength now; I can go another three hundred rounds with him!”

Cheng Hui declined, “No, a salty fish like me only suits a chill lifestyle approach, and I’ll say it again, I’m anti-marriage!”

Saying this, Cheng Hui escaped from Wen Le’s embrace, grumbling, “So, fighting is your way of expressing love? It’s true that fighting is loving… I’ve seen it now…”

Wen Le, who had found a new direction and motivation, was brimming with joy. It seemed like she needed to vent her emotions, so she performed an impromptu ballet in the dorm. She danced gracefully, pirouetting on her toes without stopping.

Wen Le’s elegant and cheerful dance made her look like a graceful swan, even without music and a ballet skirt.

Finally, Wen Le executed a perfect split jump in the air, landed steadily, and even bowed gracefully twice.

Cheng Hui put down her phone, opened the video playback, and exclaimed, “You can actually do ballet?”

Wen Le laughed and made a heart gesture, “Don’t fall in love with me~”

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 68

    Rings Exposed

The original poster probably saw the scene of Wen Le and Zhou Kao hugging and kissing at the door when Wen Le came out to send Zhou Kao off after her performance and directly took a sneak shot of it.

In the photo, Zhou Kao held Wen Le tightly in his arms, and the 18-centimetre height difference between the two made Wen Le look petite. The scene where Wen Le stood on tiptoes to accept Zhou Kao’s kiss was unexpectedly romantic, with the backlighting adding a touch of beauty, like a scene from an idol drama.

The poster arrived late at the New Year’s Eve party but unexpectedly encountered such a scene.

“It seemed like Zhou Kao was about to leave early, and Wen Le came out to send him off. They were being affectionate, hugging each other for a while, and even kissed before Zhou Kao left. After Zhou Kao got into the car, Wen Le stood there waiting until the car disappeared before returning to the theatre.

Oh my god, I’m going to be overwhelmed by their sweetness. The couple that everyone shipped has actually become a reality! They are sooooo sweet! Damn! I mean, seriously, the explosion of their godly looks… Their children would be so beautiful???

    【Photos】【Photos】【Photos】”

The evening was the most active time for gossip-loving netizens. Upon hearing the gossip, they almost instinctively gathered their friends to join in.

The post quickly rose to the top of the hot list, along with the poll that was posted at the same time.

#Exposing those flowers and grasses* who couldn’t get into a relationship during their four years of university.

*flowers and grasses is Chinese slang for the prettiest girl and most handsome guy in whatever school setting they’re in

And the first and second places in the poll were Zhou Kao and Wen Le.

The story’s progression was so surreal that initially, the first reaction of netizens to the post was disbelief. Is the OP just seeking attention by fabricating this?

Even the first two pages of replies were questioning the authenticity of the news. Even when the OP posted the kissing photo of the two, some still doubted its authenticity.

But as more and more photos were posted by the OP, the netizens were left dumbfounded by the reality.

    67th comment: WTF!

    68th comment: WTF!

69th comment: It hurts… Weren’t these two at odds with each other?

70th comment: Hahaha, their gossip is always juicy and delicious.

71st comment: Ahhh! They are really together!!! Mom, the couple I shipped has actually come true!

    72nd comment: Love-hate relationship…

73rd comment: The entertainment circle is really chaotic. Didn’t these two just have a fight and get on the hot list a while ago? Did I remember wrongly? And now they’re together?

So the post about the two initially fighting was bumped up again.

That night, the top hot posts were all about the deeds of Wen Le and Zhou Kao. From how they creatively rejected suitors to speculations about whether they had some unknown emotional trauma or sexual orientation issues, to their fight and subsequent reconciliation, to the netizens betting on which of the two was least likely to get into a relationship, and so on.

Only upon going down this memory lane did the netizens realise that there were actually so many incidents involving the two. And among these nostalgic posts, one post unexpectedly stood out, hanging in the top five of the hottest posts.

#Today is definitely one of the most magical days ever.

Clicking into the thread, it was full of complaints, as if the idea of the two being together was something hard to accept.

The BBS forum buzzed for most of the night, with discussions about the two still showing no signs of stopping after the New Year’s Eve party ended. Since it was late after the New Year’s Eve party, Wen Le didn’t go home but rested directly in the dormitory. Coming out of the shower, Wen Le heard laughter in the dormitory and asked in confusion, “What’s going on?”

Cheng Hui said, “Your relationship has been exposed.”

“Come here, let me show you, they were absolutely shocked.”

Cheng Hui flipped through her phone to show Wen Le, “Look, the first few pages are full of your glorious deeds. You two are indeed the top players on the BBS, hahaha!”

“Hahaha, look at this, it’s interesting. Some gossipers have started a new post, and they actually crowned you and Zhou Kao as the most diligent gossip farmers of the year. The evaluation says that you two are diligent in producing gossip, and the gossip is both big and delicious. It has been rated as conscientious gossip farmers, and this post is specially issued as encouragement.”

Wen Le laughed uncontrollably, “What kind of nonsense is this?”

After joking for a while, Wen Le remembered something and asked, “How’s the online comment section?”

Cheng Hui hesitated, glanced at Wen Le, and sneakily assessed Wen Le’s expression, seeming to hesitate whether to speak or not.

Seeing Cheng Hui’s hesitation, Wen Le said, “It’s okay, I almost expected what their reaction would be. Just tell me the truth.”

Cheng Hui honestly said, “With so many suitors pursuing you and Zhou Kao, there are definitely many people who can’t accept it. That’s not a big deal. The main thing is that you two just had a fight. Your fans scolded Zhou Kao for being a scumbag who hits women, and Zhou Kao’s fans scolded you, saying you’re a fierce old lady. Both sides were cursing fiercely, but then you two suddenly got together. So they feel like you’re deceiving them, playing with them, and now they’re turning around to curse you guys. But there are very few people like that, so you don’t need to worry about it.”

Wen Le shrugged, “I’m not worried. And I almost expected it. They would know sooner or later. Give them time to digest it, and if they can’t digest it, there’s nothing I can do.”

Cheng Hui patted Wen Le’s shoulder, “Your attitude is pretty good.”

Wen Le smiled and said, “Just put yourself in my shoes. I’ve just become rich, and I have such a boyfriend. What else do I have to worry about?”

Cheng Hui sighed, kicked Wen Le, and said, “Get out of here.”

Wen Le laughed and ran away.

After the post exposing the two being together fermented for a while, some people began to think it over. Perhaps after accepting the idea of the two being together, they looked back at the photos of the two reconciling and shaking hands, and realised something was off.

Why did the two shake hands and make peace on the school confession wall? And why did they interlock their fingers when shaking hands? Wasn’t a simple handshake enough?

Following this thread of clues, finally something seemed off.

Although the news of Zhou Kao and Wen Le being together was only exposed today, it’s unclear when they actually got together. Generally, the exposure today definitely didn’t mean they got together today.

So, their relationship must have started earlier.

Following the timeline of posts on the BBS, the previous hot post was about them shaking hands and making peace. Assuming they were already together at that time, a question arose: why was the reconciliation post made on the confession wall, why were their fingers interlocked, why were they smiling so brightly?

Although it’s still unclear why they fought in the first place, the interlocked fingers and the confession wall post didn’t seem to make sense. The more one thought about it, the more logical it seemed that their deduction was correct.

This wasn’t just a reconciliation; it was clearly a public announcement of their love!

They had already announced their relationship so early! Poor gossipers were still in the dark, not realising they had been discreetly showing affection. Now, realising it, they were being fed a mouthful of dog food.

So, some people began to scrutinise the handshake reconciliation on the confession wall and gave reasonable guesses about the couple’s behaviour at the time.

Based on the reasonable analysis above, I believe the two were already together at the time. But why they fought remains a mystery.

    1l: Damn, that makes sense.

2l: This dog food is a bit too much…

3l: This is the pinnacle of public display of affection. You show it, and others don’t even realise it. But when they finally do, they’re almost choked to death by it. Burp~

4l: So, actually, when they fought at first, it was just a lover’s quarrel, right? Then they… it’s domestic violence, isn’t it? I have to say, it’s fortunate they’re together now. Otherwise, who could stand their fights? With Wen Le throwing fists like that, can any guy handle it? Too fierce…

5l: Oh my gosh! That makes so much sense. I just went to look at the photo of them shaking hands and making peace. They were both smiling exceptionally brightly, and they both had a ring on their hands. Some people used to mock them for wearing rings to a martial arts gym, saying it wasn’t professional, but now I think they might have done it intentionally. But these two rings don’t look the same, not like couple rings. Could there be some other meaning behind them?

6l: Oh my gosh! After what the person above said, I just realised they were really wearing rings at the time, and they were both on the hand where their fingers were interlocked. Oh my gosh, there must be a story behind this.

7l: Shocking! Calling all experts to investigate!

    8l: Seconded!

The moment this post came out, it instantly became a top-hot post, attracting countless onlookers.

But no one in the thread had managed to figure out the origin of those two rings. Until a new post emerged.

#Here’s the scoop on the Zhou Kao and Wen Le rings you’ve been asking for, come check it out.

The rings are the pride and joy of the chief designer of a small Swedish jewelry brand, priced at $99,999.

That’s right, the ring on Zhou Kao’s hand and the one on Wen Le’s hand can be put together to form a whole, meaning they are a pair of couple rings.

When the two rings are put together, they look like this. [Image]

And here’s how they look when worn separately by models. [Image] Are they identical?

    The most important thing is:

The reason why this ring is so expensive is that all the diamonds on Wen Le’s ring are real. The most expensive part of this ring is the women’s ring, while the men’s ring is just a regular platinum ring.

The unique thing about this ring is that out of the $99,999, probably the hundreds of thousands of RMB was just spent on the women’s ring, while the men’s ring probably only cost a five-figure sum for design and craftsmanship.

[The most expensive part is for you]

So the most romantic aspect of this ring is its meaning: you are where my soul and radiance reside. Isn’t that super romantic?

So when the gossipers clicked on this post, all they could see were a bunch of groundhogs squealing below.

    Similar to these:

    Ahhhhhh! I’m dead!

Ahhhhhh! Zhou Kao is too amazing!

Ahhhhhh! The world owes me a Zhou Kao!

    I’ll be damned to death!

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 67

    Relationship Exposed

Once Wen Le made a decision, it was as unyielding as a stone, and Zhou Kao had now witnessed Wen Le’s stubbornness.

The night before New Year’s Eve, Zhou Kao deliberately cleared his schedule to spend the evening with his girlfriend, coaxing Wen Le to change into a different outfit. However, no matter how much Zhou Kao persuaded her, Wen Le refused.

Zhou Kao was never one to be inflexible and rigid, and he understood the principle of finding alternative solutions.

Since the New Year’s Eve gala was scheduled for Friday, Zhou Kao did nothing on Friday afternoon except for running to the largest shopping mall near the company to shop for women’s clothing.

He bought three dresses and two handbags, leaving the jealous store clerks with red eyes. Whose boyfriend is this that is so considerate?!

One bag was for Wen Le, and the other was for Li Hua. Since his girlfriend hadn’t been brought home yet, Zhou Kao couldn’t risk his mother having any opinions because of these things.

TN: HAHAHA smart man this guy, gotta please the mum too if not she’d get jealous too~

Zhou Kao asked his secretary to send one of the bags to Li Hua, while he placed the remaining four bags in his car and drove to the school to pick up Wen Le.

When Zhou Kao arrived at the school, it was already 5:30 PM. Wen Le should already be at the theatre at this time. Zhou Kao sent a message to Wen Le, asking her to come to the entrance to meet him.

Seeing Wen Le in her ankle-length down jacket, Zhou Kao breathed a sigh of relief. He got out of the car with the shopping bags and walked over to Wen Le.

The theatre was warm inside, and short sleeves were enough, but the outside temperature was truly cold, and the cold wind made one’s face ache.

Wen Le wrapped her scarf tightly around her neck and shrank into it, while Zhou Kao, in his seemingly not thick coat, looked handsome and elegant. Carrying the bags, he walked over as if he were a supermodel on the runway, incredibly handsome.

Wen Le felt a little jealous again. She didn’t want to bundle up like a dumpling, but she was too sensitive to the cold. She shrunk further into her scarf and muttered from within it, “What’s up?”

Zhou Kao stepped forward and pulled Wen Le into his arms to shield her from the wind. “Let’s talk inside.”

It was only a two-step walk from where Zhou Kao parked to the entrance. Once they entered, Wen Le took a deep breath and relaxed. “It’s too cold.”

Zhou Kao held Wen Le’s scarf for her. “Have you eaten?”

Wen Le nodded. “I just came from the restaurant. Since there aren’t many people backstage now, everyone’s gone to eat, I’ll take you to the corridor behind the dressing room. There’s no one there.”

Zhou Kao grabbed Wen Le’s hand. “Since your dad already knows, can’t we make it official?”

Wen Le was taken aback for a moment, realising that Zhou Kao was right. She nodded and said, “Let’s go with the flow then.”

Zhou Kao smiled and lightly tapped Wen Le’s head. “I thought you were trying to avoid it.”

Wen Le laughed. “What are you thinking? I’m not that irresponsible.”

Saying that, Wen Le reached out and touched Zhou Kao’s face. “Besides, with such a handsome and outstanding boyfriend like mine, why wouldn’t I be responsible?”

Zhou Kao chuckled and leaned in to kiss Wen Le on the cheek.

Wen Le was caught off guard by Zhou Kao’s sudden kiss, startled, she quickly pushed Zhou Kao away and looked around. Fortunately, no one saw them, but she still glared at Zhou Kao.

Zhou Kao felt that Wen Le’s reaction was exaggerated and frowned, “Didn’t you say you’d take responsibility? You won’t even let me kiss you?”

Wen Le was speechless. “Come on, even if others know we’re a couple, it’s not appropriate to kiss in public, right?”

Wen Le’s face reddened slightly as she spoke. In fact, Wen Le often saw couples kissing passionately downstairs in the dormitory building, which seemed to be quite normal. However, Wen Le couldn’t bring herself to be intimate like that in front of others. Perhaps it was due to the influence of her family environment or the conservative upbringing of her grandparents. In Wen Le’s opinion, being intimate with her boyfriend should be done in private. Otherwise, it would be inappropriate and too embarrassing.

Zhou Kao tapped Wen Le’s forehead playfully. “Don’t worry, no one’s around.”

Wen Le swatted away Zhou Kao’s hand, thinking that she might have overreacted just now. Zhou Kao was someone who knew his limits.

The small corridor behind the dressing room was near the theatre’s fourth door, which was usually closed, so there were few people there.

Sitting on the chairs set up in the small corridor, Zhou Kao saw that no one was around, so he directly hugged Wen Le and pulled her into his arms. Wen Le didn’t resist and leaned against Zhou Kao, holding his slightly cold hand to warm it.

Seeing Wen Le’s small gestures, Zhou Kao felt warm inside and couldn’t help but kiss Wen Le on the lips. The kiss was short, but Zhou Kao still felt a bit reluctant to let go. He reached out and touched Wen Le’s face. “Haven’t done your makeup yet?”

Wen Le shook her head. “No.”

Zhou Kao played with the zipper of Wen Le’s dress, his eyes deep. “What are you wearing underneath?”

Wen Le couldn’t help but smile inwardly. Zhou Kao was indeed fixated on that dress. So she pulled Zhou Kao’s hand away and didn’t let him touch the zipper. “It’s that fitted dress. Didn’t I tell you many times? Why do you keep asking?”

As expected, when Wen Le finished speaking, Zhou Kao’s face darkened. Pinching Wen Le’s cheek, he said ominously, “Didn’t I say it wasn’t suitable? Why are you so disobedient?”

Wen Le pretended to bite Zhou Kao’s hand. “I said it’s suitable, but you said it’s not. I can’t just take your word for it. I have to seek others’ opinions.”

Dodging Wen Le’s teeth, Zhou Kao earnestly said, “You do look beautiful in that dress, but it’s too cold today. It’s not suitable.”

Wen Le liked it when Zhou Kao praised her beauty. Softening at Zhou Kao’s words, she still didn’t relent. “But there’s heating and air conditioning in the theatre.”

Zhou Kao took out the gift he had prepared for a long time. “I happened to see a more suitable one at the mall today, so I bought it for you. Don’t you want to try it?”

Looking at the dress in the bag, Wen Le couldn’t help but smile sweetly. “When did you buy it?”

    “Just now,” Zhou Kao said.

Zhou Kao held Wen Le’s waist and kissed her cheek. “Please don’t wear that dress, okay?”

Wen Le smiled and kissed Zhou Kao on the lips before unzipping her jacket. “I was just teasing you. Did you really think I would wear that dress?”

Wen Le took off her down jacket unexpectedly, revealing the long white dress that Zhou Kao had given her last time. It covered her from the neck to the calves, absolutely conservative and restrained.

This white dress on Wen Le was like a fairy incarnate. Wen Le stood up and turned around in front of Zhou Kao, the skirt flowing like blooming flowers, her smile even more radiant than the flowers themselves.

Zhou Kao’s heart skipped a beat, once again experiencing the feeling of being captivated. He took a deep breath, feeling the collar was a bit tight, and lightly tugged at it. Unable to resist, he stepped forward and pressed Wen Le against the wall, kissing her passionately.

Wen Le was most proud when Zhou Kao lost control because of her. Her eyes were full of laughter and pride. Her slender arms obediently wrapped around Zhou Kao’s neck, making him even more excited.

After a long kiss, Zhou Kao buried his face in Wen Le’s neck to calm his breathing. His voice was hoarse, “Wen Le.”

Wen Le responded with a soft “Hmm.”

Zhou Kao kissed Wen Le’s earlobe, his voice low, “Why am I still so infatuated even though we’ve been together for so long? Are you…”

“Are you trying to seduce me?”

Wen Le interrupted with a laugh, patting Zhou Kao on the shoulder. “You’re allowed to seduce me?”

Just as they were speaking, they suddenly heard footsteps. Wen Le pushed Zhou Kao away. “They’re back.”

Zhou Kao took a step back, intending to adjust his collar, but as soon as his hand touched it, he suddenly stopped and looked down at Wen Le, raising an eyebrow before dropping his hand.

Wen Le met Zhou Kao’s gaze. “?”

Zhou Kao pointed to his collar.

Wen Le glanced around to make sure there was no one nearby, then blushed as she adjusted Zhou Kao’s collar.

Zhou Kao smiled and leaned forward to kiss Wen Le again.

Wen Le covered her face and pushed Zhou Kao away. “I need to go do my makeup now. You should go somewhere else.”

Zhou Kao sighed. “Can’t you spend a little more time with me?”

Wen Le hesitated. “Then… when will you leave tonight?”

Zhou Kao replied, “I’ll leave after watching your performance. I need to go home tonight.”

Wen Le’s performance was scheduled for the third session.

Wen Le said, “Then I’ll come find you after I finish my makeup, okay?”

Zhou Kao’s eyes were filled with Wen Le, and his voice softened. “Okay.”

As Wen Le turned to leave, Zhou Kao reminded her, “Don’t forget your things.”

Wen Le suddenly remembered the gift Zhou Kao had bought for her.

Zhou Kao asked, “Do you like it?”

Wen Le smiled and replied, “I love it! My boyfriend has excellent taste.”

Zhou Kao smirked, “That’s for sure.”

Cheng Hui, who worked backstage, saw Wen Le coming back with several bags and approached her, saying, “I just went to the restroom for a moment, and you went shopping? Did you chop off your hand after impulse buying?”

Wen Le laughed, “No, Zhou Kao came.”

Cheng Hui was speechless, “At the drop of a hat, he buys you luxury items. What kind of divine boyfriend is he?”

With fewer people in the makeup room at this moment, Wen Le took off her down jacket and sat in front of the makeup mirror. She applied light makeup, using a super ethereal pearl powder that gave her eyeshadow a glossy, watery effect. She also applied a Korean-style pink lipstick and added a drop-shaped diamond at the corner of her eye. This was probably the epitome of a fairy.

Wen Le asked Cheng Hui, “How is it?”

    Cheng Hui exclaimed, “Absolutely stunning.”

She then showed Wen Le her phone screen, saying, “I searched online for this outfit. It’s ridiculously expensive, and the model wearing it looks like she’s pregnant, don’t you think? This outfit hasn’t been selling well, but I never expected it to look so stunning on you. How did you choose this outfit? You have a good eye.”

Wen Le whispered, “It was picked by Zhou Kao.”

    Cheng Hui:…

“I shouldn’t have asked. Why did I have to eat your dog food for no reason? Really…”

The stunning effect of Wen Le’s outfit was self-evident.

As soon as Wen Le stepped onto the stage, there was a burst of applause and cheers from the audience, with some even calling her an angel.

It wasn’t until Wen Le sat down at the piano and placed her hands on the keys that the applause gradually subsided.

Wen Le was once known throughout the school for her beauty, and her appearance never failed to impress.

After finishing a light and melodious piano piece, the applause thundered from the audience, and there were even shouts of “I love you, senior!” and “Goddess, you’re so beautiful!”

In such a situation, these shouts were seen more as playful banter among young people, and no one would feel annoyed by such behaviour. Even the teachers in the audience couldn’t help but smile.

Wen Le didn’t know what Zhou Kao was feeling in the audience.

After coming down from the stage, Wen Le went backstage to get her clothes and phone before heading straight to the door.

Zhou Kao was already waiting outside.

Wen Le put on her clothes and walked over to hug Zhou Kao.

Zhou Kao helped Wen Le adjust her clothes, pulled up the zipper, and then hugged her, kissing her forehead. “I’m heading back.”

Wen Le nodded. “Drive slowly and be safe.”

Zhou Kao softly responded, holding Wen Le tightly, reluctant to leave.

Wen Le pushed Zhou Kao gently. “You should go. Don’t rush on the way.”

Reluctant to part, Zhou Kao lowered his head and exchanged another kiss with Wen Le.

    Then he drove away.

As Wen Le watched Zhou Kao leave, she glanced at a corner and felt like something had shimmered there for a moment.

Wen Le didn’t dwell on it and went back inside the theatre.

Little did Wen Le know, not long after the New Year’s Eve party ended, a post about her and Zhou Kao’s romance was bumped to the top of the BBS homepage.

So, on this night, the gossip-loving crowd was shocked to learn:

The two people least likely to get into a relationship at the school were now officially a couple.

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 66

    Edited by Elv

    Big Picture in HD

Zhou Kao called Wen Le before he started eating the takeout.

When Wen Le picked up the phone, she sneakily glanced at Cheng Hui first.

How could this escape Cheng Hui, known as the human microscope, who always seemed to know everything?

Just by looking at Wen Le’s demeanour, she knew it was Wen Le’s little lover calling, so she humphed twice, turned over, and continued to play with her phone, ignoring Wen Le.

Wen Le smiled, put on her shoes, and ran to the sofa pretending to get some water, actually feeling embarrassed about talking on the phone in front of Cheng Hui. Mainly, she was worried Zhou Kao might say something flirty, which would be too embarrassing if Cheng Hui heard it.

In fact, Zhou Kao didn’t have anything important to say; he just wanted to coo over the phone with Wen Le. But this was probably just what couples do daily.

Wen Le mentioned that she had to perform on stage, and Zhou Kao wasn’t too pleased.

“What’s wrong with them, gathering to watch someone else’s girlfriend?”

Wen Le laughed out loud, shamelessly saying, “Well, you found such a good-looking girlfriend, try to understand them a bit.”

Zhou Kao rolled his eyes, “Why should I be understanding just because I found a girlfriend through my own efforts? Always staring at someone else’s girlfriend, no wonder they’re single.”

Wen Le coughed lightly, “Alright, enough with that mouth of yours.”

“Do you have a long lunch break?”

Zhou Kao said, “It’s okay, an hour.”

“Then you should eat quickly and take a nap after eating.”

Zhou Kao said, “But I still want to talk to you for a bit.”

“I don’t have time to be affectionate with you; my roommate came over to my house.”

Zhou Kao sighed, “I really miss you.”

Wen Le: “You’re allowed to miss me, think about me all you want.”

Zhou Kao fell silent, seemingly offended.

Wen Le felt bad again, “Alright, alright, I’ll video call you tonight, and you can help me pick out clothes, okay?”

Zhou Kao finally cheered up. “Fine, I’ll begrudgingly help you choose an outfit.”

    Wen Le laughed, “You’re impossible.”

After hanging up the phone, Wen Le brought two cups of water to the bedside table. Cheng Hui sat up and took a sip while still staring at her phone screen, not knowing what she was looking at, clicking her tongue. After drinking, Cheng Hui put the cup back and said to Wen Le, “You rich people really know how to play.”

Wen Le lay back on the bed, “What did you see this time?”

Cheng Hui was looking at her phone, “I was scrolling through Weibo, didn’t you see the trending topics? The fifth one on the hot search, poverty limits my imagination.”

Wen Le shook her head and said, “What happened? I didn’t see it.”

Cheng Hui explained, “It’s about a fashion blogger on PenPoint who specialises in outfit posts that went viral.”

“At first, it was just a fashion blogger sharing her outfits. But the clothes were so attractive, and the lady had a great figure. Her matching skills also looked good, so she attracted quite a few fans and became somewhat famous…”

Everyone thought this fashion blogger was a store owner who posted to promote her own brand. Hence, many comments below her posts were like:

    – “Sis, you must be opening an online store, hurry up.”

    – “Sister, I want the link.”

    – “Sister, please share your store.”

Besides these, there were also comments complimenting the blogger’s figure.

Initially, this post wasn’t very popular until a comment sparked a debate, and the post became completely viral.

Tan Xiang* Very Fragrant: “It’s funny, if I’m not mistaken, these clothes should be custom-made by Le Yin, and you guys are actually asking her for links, hilarious.”

This person’s reply, due to its somewhat sarcastic tone, triggered a backlash in the comments.

    – “So what if it’s custom-made? No need to act so superior. As if we can’t afford custom-made clothes.”

This comment seemed to have provoked “Tan Xiang Very Fragrant”, who then responded with a long paragraph.

Tan Xiang Very Fragrant: “You say that, but you really can’t afford it. Do you even know the brand Le Yin? You probably haven’t even heard of it, have you?

Le Yin is the pinnacle clothing brand under the Tianyin Group.

Speaking of the several luxury and high-end brands under Tianyin, everyone should know them, especially since they acquired an internationally renowned blue-blood luxury brand a few years ago, their market share in the luxury and high-end sector has become quite significant.

And the most high-end brand under Tianyin is called Le Yin, which can’t even be considered just a brand because it operates in the form of a club.

It’s said that the initial intention of Le Yin was not for profit, but rather a clothing club set up by the old lady of Tianyin for herself and her old girlfriends.

This club does not accept application-based memberships; it’s only through introductions or by invitation.

Every member of the club has their own independent designer, tailor, and selection of materials, even owning a production line dedicated solely to themselves, from fabric to design to production, a complete one-stop service.

You should know that since Tian Yin owns brands in both the luxury and high-end sectors, they are not short of excellent designers.

The annual membership fee for each member of Le Yin is nearly 1 million because you have to support everyone in your production line, which also means that everyone in this production line is serving you alone.

You might think, what the heck? What is Le Yin? Never even heard of it.

Here, let me give you an example.

I always see people online talking about how low-key the Grand Slam Film Empress Xi Ya-an is, how she never wears big brands, but still looks incredibly stylish, even in no-name brands.

I’m really f*cking amused. What no-name brands? Xi Ya-an is the only person in the entertainment industry who is a member of Le Yin. Those supposedly random, good-looking ‘no-name brand’ clothes you mentioned are actually from a production line that costs her millions annually, dedicated solely to creating clothes for her.

You really thought those were just any no-name brands, and she just happened to look super high-end?

Don’t believe it? Try to dig up those ordinary-looking but exceptionally attractive clothes Xi Ya-an wears and see if there isn’t a Japanese rose pattern hidden in the most inconspicuous corner. That rose pattern is the hallmark of her production line.

Why do I know this? Because my grandmother is a member of their club, and her symbol is the Chinese crabapple flower, which is her production line. As far as I know, my grandmother spends millions each year at Le Yin.”

After “Tan Xiang Very Fragrant” became popular from this incident, she posted a photo of the Japanese rose print on the corner of Film Empress Xi Ya-an’s clothes online.

These rose patterns are sometimes printed in visible spots but can be easily overlooked in the overall design, sometimes they’re on the zipper pull, and sometimes they’re a rose pendant on the neckline.

Additionally, “Tan Xiang Very Fragrant” also shared the Chinese crabapple flower pattern from her grandmother’s clothes and the orchid pattern from Wen Le’s fashion post.

Netizens hurried to uncover the hidden rose patterns on Xi Ya-an’s clothes, and indeed, many of her garments bore this rose mark.

Comparing the rose patterns on Xi Ya-an’s clothes with the Chinese crabapple flower marks shared by the netizen from her grandmother’s clothes, and the orchid marks on the fashion blogger’s garments, it seemed that what  “Tan Xiang Very Fragrant” said about Le Yin was indeed true.

Netizens were shocked. The clothes of the people-friendly Grand Slam Film Empress, which they thought were worth tens of dollars, were actually supported by seven or eight-figure sums?

Thinking about those celebrities who boast about wearing gowns worth hundreds of thousands and then looking at this actress who has spent seven or eight figures without anyone knowing, it’s clear that true magnates win quietly.

It’s poverty that limits imagination. Who would have thought that one person could have their own production line? The extravagant moves of the wealthy are truly beyond most people’s expectations.

After gaining popularity, “Tan Xiang Very Fragrant” released another statement.

Tan Xiang Very Fragrant: “To be honest, I was more shocked to see the orchid pattern than anyone else here.

Because my grandmother is a member of Le Yin, I’ve had some contact with them and have always wanted to join Le Yin myself. But even with my grandmother’s introduction, I’ve never been able to get in all these years.

Le Yin has to set up a new production line for every new member, so the slots have become increasingly scarce over the years, and the screening process more stringent. As far as I know, none of my acquaintances have successfully joined.

What shocked me the most wasn’t that Miss Shanyin could join Le Yin, but that Miss Shanyin was actually part of the top-tier Orchid series.

My grandmother once said the Orchid series is Le Yin’s highest-level collection, and the screening criteria are extremely strict. Looking at the age of the blogger, who seems quite young but already owns a production line of the Orchid series in Le Yin, I can only say, are you perhaps Le Yin’s own daughter?”

Chenghui couldn’t help but sigh, “Wow! This is ridiculously extravagant! To be able to create a production line for every individual just for clothes, the yearly expenditure on clothes alone could buy a house. Ah, the evils of the wealthy.”

As Chenghui sighed, she enlarged the orchid pattern in the picture. However, she couldn’t shake off the feeling that this pattern seemed familiar. Chenghui looked at Wen Le suspiciously, as if she had realised something and asked tentatively, “Wen Le… this couldn’t be yours…could it?”

    “What?”

Chenghui said, “Have you been playing with PenPoint recently?”

Wen Le replied, “I played with it half a month ago, but haven’t touched it recently.”

Chenghui carefully examined Wen Le’s clothes, pulled up her hem, and glanced at it, “Let me see…”

Then Chenghui found a faint circle of orchid imprints on Wen Le’s hem.

Chenghui let go of Wen Le and looked at her with a speechless expression.

Wen Le felt a chill run down her spine as she was stared at. “What’s wrong?”

Chenghui handed her the phone. “Take a look.”

Wen Le took the phone and saw the photo she posted of her outfit.

Wen Le was shocked. “I went viral?”

Chenghui said, “How would you not know if you’ve gone viral?”

Wen Le took her phone back. “You know, other than WeChat, I’ve turned off notifications for all other apps. After I posted the thread, I closed the PenPoint app. Later, I checked it once and saw over a thousand likes and around a hundred followers. I saw someone messaging me asking for a link, but I didn’t reply, and then I forgot about it. I haven’t checked it since.”

As she spoke, Wen Le opened her own phone, opened the Pen Point app, and found that she had gained over a hundred thousand followers and countless messages.

    Wen Le was shocked.

Chenghui also leaned in to take a look. “Wow, you’re now an internet celebrity with over a hundred thousand followers.”

But Wen Le found it troublesome. “I didn’t actually want to go viral. I thought I’d maybe attract a couple hundred followers at most when I posted that. If it weren’t for this trending topic, I definitely wouldn’t have so many followers. I didn’t even know there was such a membership system.”

Chenghui was speechless. “Isn’t going viral a good thing? Sun Youmei wants to go viral every day.”

Wen Le said, “It’s not that it’s not good, but mainly because I’m in my junior year and I want to intern at Zhou Kao’s company. I’m worried that if I become too famous, it might not be good for me to intern there.”

Chenghui didn’t quite understand. “What do you mean?”

Wen Le suddenly remembered that she hadn’t told Chenghui that the Pen Point app was developed by Zhou Kao’s company. “I mean, the PenPoint app is developed by Zhou Kao’s company.”

“So, if I become a PenPoint influencer and then go to intern at their company, would there be criticism saying it’s not appropriate?”

Chenghui, listening with confusion, said, “I’ve never felt that the big shots were right around me. This world is too magical.”

Wen Le called Zhou Kao and brought up the trending topic, hesitating, “Did your company buy this trending topic?”

Zhou Kao didn’t understand at first. “Trending topic? You mean publicity? Isn’t that handled by Vice-President Lu? What happened?”

“Not exactly, it’s about the fifth trending topic. Just take a look.”

Zhou Kao found the Weibo trending topics and quickly understood what was going on. He couldn’t help but pull out the necklace Wen Le had given him and looked at the orchid pattern on the back.

He had noticed the pattern before, but never imagined it was related to Le Yin. Le Yin, clearly a product of the Tianyin Group, was undoubtedly connected to Wen Le.

After looking at it, Zhou Kao called Vice-President Lu. Indeed, the trending topic was purchased by the publicity department.

Vice-President Lu said, “It was unexpected. A colleague mentioned last night that this topic had appeared on Weibo and was quite popular. The idea from the publicity department was to take advantage of the popularity to do some further promotion, so they bought the trending topic. Is there a problem?”

Zhou Kao simply said, “Brother Lu, please take down the trending topic.”

Vice-President Lu was taken aback, but he didn’t want to contradict the young master’s wishes, so he just nodded. “Alright.”

Although this young master was young, he was quite sensible. Advertising and such were easy to handle, with the backing of the Zhou and Li families and ample funds, there was no need to upset the young master over such trivial matters.

After hanging up, Vice-President Lu went to check the trending topic and saw the words “Le Yin” and “Tianyin Group.” He paused. Le Yin? Tianyin Group? Recently, Madam seemed to have mentioned that the girlfriend the young master was dating seemed to be from the Wen family…

Vice-President Lu closed Weibo, thinking that taking down the trending topic was worth it. Wen Tianqi is not someone to be messed with…

Zhou Kao called Wen Le back. “Yes, the trending topic was indeed bought by us, but I’ve asked them to take it down.”

Wenle sighed. “Did we waste this opportunity?”

Zhou Kao shook his head. “No, as long as we redirect the traffic. Fortunately, Xi Anya has already joined this platform.”

    “That’s good then.”

With that matter resolved, Wen Le breathed a sigh of relief.

Chenghui pulled Wen Le, saying she wanted to visit the rumoured clothes that were made by an individual production line again.

So the two of them went back to the dressing room.

Chenghui looked at those clothes and exclaimed, “These are all produced by your own production line, that’s awesome!”

Chenghui suddenly smiled as she thought of something, though Wen Le couldn’t tell what it was.

    “What are you laughing at?”

Chenghui said, “That Tan Xiang was right, you’re indeed Le Yin’s own daughter. Le Yin, Wen Le, oh my goodness~”

Wen Le took out her phone and said, “I didn’t know about this before, thanks for the enlightenment.”

“Hahaha, hilarious, someone else enlightening you about how awesome your own family is.”

Chenghui took out her phone to check the PenPoint app, “Let me see how many followers you have now. Wow, 150,000. I also follow Sun Youmei, let me check her followers, hm, only 50,000 less than you.”

Speaking of Sun Youmei, Chenghui sighed and said, “You went out on a date last night, you didn’t know. Sun Youmei came back and cried again. She said someone on the platform during her livestream said her nose looked like a pig’s nose, and she said that doctor really messed up her nose.”

Wen Le sighed at the news, “What is she going to do?”

Chenghui sighed along, “I don’t know, she said she’s going to that hospital today to negotiate compensation with the doctor.”

They exchanged a few more words about it and then changed the subject.

In the afternoon, the driver took Chenghui back to school, and before leaving, Mrs. Jiang packed a lot of dishes and cakes for Chenghui to take back.

Facing Mrs. Jiang’s enthusiasm, Chenghui couldn’t resist and accepted the dishes to take back to the dormitory.

At night, Zhou Kao video-called Wen Le.

Zhou Kao seemed particularly interested in helping Wen Le pick out clothes.

Wen Le felt a bit helpless. She turned on the rear camera and walked into her dressing room. She found a stand to fix her phone on and aimed the camera at herself.

Wen Le smiled and said, “The live streams on a certain e-commerce platform look just like this.”

Zhou Kao also laughed, “Then you better be more professional as a host.”

At this point, Wen Le was wearing her French-style long nightgown, covered from head to toe, with only a segment of her fair and slender neck exposed.

Zhou Kao didn’t see anything else and unwillingly said, “You’re wrapped up pretty tightly at home.”

Wen Le leaned forward and tapped the phone screen as if tapping on Zhou Kao’s head, “What are you always thinking about?”

Zhou Kao said, “Thinking about you.”

    “Smooth talker.”

Zhou Kao said, “If you leave your phone here, how am I supposed to pick out clothes for you?”

Wen Le said, “I’ll bring them over for you to see.”

Zhou Kao urged, “Then hurry up.”

Wen Le rummaged through her wardrobe and picked out a few items she thought were suitable, then brought them in front of the camera to show Zhou Kao.

Zhou Kao shook his head after watching, “Not these, take me to see something else.”

Wen Le glared at him, “Are these not good enough?”

Zhou Kao obediently said, “You’re absolutely stunning in them, but precisely because you’re too beautiful, you can’t wear them for others to see.”

    Wen Le snorted, “You’re crazy.”

    Zhou Kao urged, “Hurry up.”

Wen Le picked up her phone, switched to the rear camera, walked in front of the clothes, and took a video to show Zhou Kao, “Is this okay?”

Zhou Kao keenly picked one item from the pile of clothes, “That white little dress.”

Wen Le reached for the little white dress.

Zhou Kao corrected, “No, it’s the third one from the back.”

Wen Le took out the third item from the back.

It was a white bodycon strapless dress, showing cleavage at the top and short at the bottom, Wen Le didn’t even know she had such a dress.

Wen Le was stunned, “Do you really want me to wear this?”

    Zhou Kao: “Wear it.”

Wen Le gritted her teeth, “Fine, I’ll wear it that day for the event.”

After saying that, Wen Le put her phone on the stand, turned around, and went to the bedroom to change into that dress.

This white bodycon dress had a bit of a tight effect, making it a bit cumbersome to put on.

After changing into the dress, Wen Le found a crystal hairpin to tie her hair into a bun, and as she pinned it, she said to Zhou Kao, “You have good taste, so let’s go with this one.”

Although Wen Le was thin, she had curves in all the right places.

With the tightness of the bodycon dress, her C-cup breasts were slightly squeezed, revealing a tantalising cleavage that ignited desires.

With her long and elegant swan-like neck, slender angular shoulders, slim waist, perky buttocks, and long legs, Wen Le was simply a heavenly beauty walking on earth.

Only Zhou Kao’s hoarse voice came through the microphone, “Strike a pose.”

Wen Le rolled her eyes, “Trying to take a screenshot of my beauty, aren’t you.”

As she spoke, Wen Le turned the camera to face the normal open door of the dressing room, with the bedroom outside.

However, Wen Le found it strange that Zhou Kao didn’t protest when she turned the camera around. Could it be that it hanged?

Just as she was thinking, she heard Zhou Kao cough lightly twice and say, “Did you drop something on the floor…”

Wen Le looked over and saw her recently removed bra lying on the ground.

Since it was impossible to wear a bra with this bodycon dress, Wen Le only wore nipple covers. She remembered placing the bra on the bed but didn’t know when it fell to the floor.

Wen Le’s face turned red, and she quickly turned the camera back. Zhou Kao’s gaze lowered slightly as he said, “You… aren’t wearing anything inside?”

Wen Le blushed and snapped, “Shut up, I am wearing something.”

    Zhou Kao replied, “Oh.”

Wen Le was furious at his sarcastic tone. “I really am wearing something!”

Zhou Kao responded casually, “Oh, I believe you.”

Wen Le: sent an angry sticker

Wen Le was enraged. How dare he questioned her! Didn’t he know what nipple covers were?!

Wen Le angrily said, “Just wait and see.”

Then, with one hand covering herself defensively, she reached inside and pulled something out.

Zhou Kao choked on his own breath, coughing heavily, his eyes widening.

Wen Le kept one hand covering her chest and showed Zhou Kao what she had taken out from her clothes. “I told you I’m wearing something.”

Zhou Kao, still recovering from coughing, weakly said, “I can’t see clearly. Can you come a bit closer?”

    Wen Le moved closer.

Zhou Kao added, “Don’t sway, hold it with both hands.”

Wen Le glanced down – her other arm was covering her chest, once she let go everything would spill out. Rolling her eyes, she stepped out of the frame, put the nipple cover back, and muttered, “Are you really bored or something?”

Zhou Kao sighed in compromise. “Alright, I won’t look. Come here.”

Wen Le snorted lightly and reappeared in front of the camera.

Zhou Kao lightly lifted the hem of his shirt in the frame, revealing his almost visible abs, his voice deep and magnetic, “Do you want to see?”

Wen Le coughed lightly and turned her head, reluctantly saying, “Okay, fine.”

Zhou Kao smiled, “Looks like you don’t want to see.”

Wen Le blinked and said, “I spoil you so much, if you’re willing to show me, I’ll definitely be willing to see.”

Tsk tsk, look at these noble words. If you didn’t know better, you’d think she was from Law School.

Zhou Kao chuckled, “Come over and strike a pose, and I’ll show you. High-definition images, with an added hands-on experience.”

When Wen Le heard this, her first reaction was surprisingly a bit excited, but she immediately scorned herself. Don’t be fooled by Zhou Kao’s charm.

Wen Le held firm to her principles, “Then I won’t look.”

Zhou Kao said, “Who behaves like you? Let’s negotiate slowly. How can you reject it all at once?”

Wen Le was speechless. “You talk about business, and still want to talk about it slowly.”

“I won’t talk about it! A true master doesn’t need to pay a price to get what they want.”

Zhou Kao chuckled lightly. “You’re just freeloading.”

Wen Le blushed, but her tone was firm. “What’s wrong with freeloading off your own boyfriend?”

Zhou Kao laughed heartily. “Sure, sure, you’re always welcome to freeload off your boyfriend.”

Wen Le was truly embarrassed to continue listening. She couldn’t help but ponder deeply, wondering how the conversation had taken such a weird turn.

It must be because Zhou Kao was too cheeky.

She quickly changed the subject. “Alright, alright, I’ve picked out the clothes. Let’s end the call.”

Zhou Kao hurriedly stopped her. “Wait!”

    “What is it?”

“This outfit is too ugly and unsuitable. You should wear the one I gave you.”

Wen Le gritted her teeth. This jerk was deliberately deceiving her into showing him the clothes. Wen Le said fiercely, “I won’t! I’ll wear this one on stage, and I’ll strike a pose. Just you wait.”

With that, she hung up the phone.

    Zhou Kao: …

She actually wants to strike a pose on stage!

Well, looks like I won’t be able to sleep tonight.

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 65

    Edited by Elv

Forced To Eat Your Dog Food

As soon as Wen Le entered the gate, the butler received the message and notified Wen Tianqi.

Wen Tianqi remembered that Wen Le had a dinner date with that boy today and didn’t know how it went. With a concern in his heart, Wen Tianqi got up and went downstairs upon receiving the butler’s message.

When Wen Tianqi arrived downstairs, he saw Wen Le with a smiling face, and couldn’t help but raise an eyebrow. Looked like it went well.

Wen Le was momentarily stunned when she saw Wen Tianqi, then her face lit up with a smile. “Dad!”

Wen Tianqi waved his hand, calling Wen Le over to him.

The butler took Wen Le’s bag and down jacket, but Wen Le kept the bag she was carrying and placed it on the table.

Wen Le took off her down jacket, revealing a red dress, standing gracefully like a fairy emerging from a rose, adding a touch of radiance to the whole room.

Wen Tianqi looked at Wen Le with a smile of pride and happiness in his eyes. “Tell Dad about today’s progress.”

Wen Le sat down next to Wen Tianqi, her face blushing as if recalling something.

Seeing Wen Le’s expression, Wen Tianqi understood everything, but he pretended not to know and asked casually, “Was the dinner date successful today?”

Wen Le nodded, her beautiful eyes turned into crescents with a smile. “Dad, he confessed to me before I had the chance.”

Wen Le portrayed herself as a happy and excited little girl who had just fulfilled her wish, her eyes sparkling with excitement as if she wanted to share her joy with everyone around her. She briefly recounted the incident of Zhou Kao performing magic tricks and giving her gifts.

Wen Tianqi felt relieved after hearing Wen Le’s story. It seemed that this boy had some insight.

But then he realised something and lightly asked Wen Le, “So, are you two officially together now?”

Wen Le’s expression froze, cautiously observing her father’s reaction, and whispered, “Is… is it not allowed?”

Wen Tianqi looked at Wen Le’s cautious appearance, feeling a pang of bitterness in his heart. Wen Le was his only daughter, and he wanted nothing more than to protect her from the world.

Although Wen Tianqi was naturally happy about his daughter’s smooth love life, nobody knew what would happen next. Besides, he wasn’t ready to let his daughter get married too soon.

But seeing Wen Le’s happy expression, Wen Tianqi didn’t want to dampen her spirits. He just glanced at the shopping bag with the logo of the brand “C” placed on the table and said, “Is this from that boy?”

Wen Le’s voice became even softer, “Can’t I accept it…”

Feeling uncomfortable, Wen Tianqi gestured, and the butler approached. Wen Tianqi gave some instructions, and soon, the butler handed a credit card to Wen Le.

Wen Le took it and looked at Wen Tianqi. “Dad?”

Wen Tianqi said, “Buy what you like with this card. There’s no need to hesitate when giving a gift to the boy, but since you’re still in school, the limit on this card isn’t high. However, it should be enough for buying a bag as a gift on ordinary days.”

After speaking, the butler handed over another card, which was a regular debit card.

Wen Tianqi continued, “The pocket money I give you is one thing, but the task I give you is another. Dad expects you to have 1 million yuan saved in this debit card by the time you graduate from university.”

Wen Le held the debit card and said, “Dad hopes that I can earn 1 million yuan by myself during my four years of college?”

Wen Tianqi replied, “Dad knows that you’ve earned about 100,000 yuan by yourself through writing. This hundred thousand can be your starting capital, which means you need to earn the remaining 900,000 yuan in the next two and a half years. Any method is acceptable.”

Wen Le held the two cards in her hand and nodded earnestly at her father.

After Wen Le went upstairs, Wen Tianqi suddenly asked, “What kind of car brought Lele back just now?”

The butler replied, “I checked the surveillance footage. It was a Volkswagen Passat with a Beijing A license plate.”

Wen Tianqi chuckled. “Passat? Probably from the Zhou family again.”

“You’ve been in Beijing for many years. How much do you know about Zhou Chengyun’s son?”

Although the Wen family had been out of Beijing for many years, some industries, relationships, connections, and favours still needed to be taken care of. The butler had stayed in Beijing to handle these affairs. When Wen Le and Wen Tianqi decided to move back to Beijing, the butler was delighted and personally arranged everything. He even moved in to serve the father and daughter personally after they returned.

Having operated in Beijing for many years, the butler naturally knew more about the city than Wen Tianqi did.

The butler replied, “Mr. Zhou is about to retire in the next few years, and Zhou Chengyun has been in charge of the Zhou family in recent years. Zhou Chengyun has a son who is considered outstanding among his peers. It’s said that his temperament and character are somewhat similar to Mr. Zhou’s, and Mr. Zhou has high hopes for this grandson.”

The butler, having followed Wen Tianqi for many years, knew some things that others wouldn’t dare say, and Wen Tianqi was willing to listen to them. The butler continued, “If Miss really chooses among the young masters of the Zhou family, then Zhou Chengyun’s son, Zhou Kao, would be the best choice.”

Wen Tianqi’s tense expression gradually eased. However, although he didn’t want to admit defeat, he still snorted in reply, “Lele’s foresight is naturally the best.”

The butler replied in agreement, “Seems like Miss and this young master of the Zhou family were high school classmates and have known each other for many years. The two of them may have already…”

Wen Tianqi’s expression wasn’t very good, and the butler stopped mid-sentence in laughter.

Wen Tianqi didn’t dwell on the topic either but suddenly remembered something. “Zhou Chengyun’s son started a company and developed an app? He isn’t planning to enter politics? Didn’t Zhou Chengyun stop him?”

The butler chuckled, “According to the young master of the Pang family, this young master of the Zhou family initially started the company just to make a little money for himself, but he didn’t expect it to grow to its current size. However, his political ambitions remain unchanged.”

Wen Tianqi sneered, “He wants to deceive my daughter with a small app?”

The butler smiled, “From another perspective, the money the young master Zhou used to buy clothes for Miss was earned by himself, which sets him apart from the other young masters.”

While other second-generation kids were still waiting to receive their parents’ pocket money and nurturing little internet celebrities, the young master of the Zhou family could already earn his own fortune and buy gifts for his girlfriend.

Wen Tianqi glanced at the butler upon hearing this and smiled faintly, “Seems like you have a liking for the young master Zhou.”

Knowing that Wen Tianqi wasn’t angry, the butler respectfully replied, “I’ve met the young master Zhou once, and I believe in Miss’s judgment.”

Wen Tianqi chuckled and remained silent, his gaze deep and unreadable.

The next day was the weekend. Wen Le slept in lazily at home and received a call from her senior in the university student union in the afternoon, wanting to discuss matters related to the New Year’s Eve party.

Wen Le happened to want to visit the library, so she had Xiao Yang drive her to the school.

The senior had arranged to meet at ten o’clock, so after arriving at the school at nine-thirty, Wen Le went to the library first, borrowed some books, and then went to the café where she was meeting her senior with the books on her back.

The senior, who was the head of the university student union, was quite familiar with Wen Le and went straight to the point.

Feeling a bit embarrassed, the senior said, “This New Year’s Eve party will still feature performances from freshmen and sophomores. Since you’re both a member of the student union and a sophomore, the students in our college hold you in high regard. Moreover, students from other colleges will come specifically to see you. So, would you consider performing at the New Year’s Eve party?”

Wen Le hadn’t thought about this matter before and was a bit unsure how to respond upon hearing her senior’s suggestion.

Seeing Wen Le’s silence, the senior continued, “Actually, some teachers in the college thought you did a good job hosting the last dance. They were considering letting you host again, but the school counselor said you had already hosted once, so they decided to reserve the hosting position first. If you don’t have a performance, then the hosting position will be given to you.”

Wen Le quickly shook her head. She had already hosted once before, and this opportunity should be left to students with more hosting experience. She knew her shortcomings in hosting. “Senior, I’ll prepare a performance. I agree with the counselor’s point of view. Let’s reserve the hosting position for more experienced students.”

The senior nodded with a smile at Wen Le’s response. “Alright, I’ll talk to the teacher. Let me know what performance you’re planning, and you can report it to me.”

Wen Le thought for a moment and said, “Can I play the piano? Would it be too repetitive?”

The senior shook her head. “It’s fine. It won’t be repetitive. I’ll report it for you. You just start preparing for it.”

After bidding farewell to her senior, Wen Le remembered that she had left her USB drive in the dormitory and went back to retrieve it.

Upon pushing open the door to the dormitory, she only saw Cheng Hui. Feeling puzzled, she asked, “Why are you the only one here?”

Cheng Hui was playing with her phone at the desk. Hearing Wen Le’s question, she glanced at her with a hint of complaint and said, “That kid who was tutoring Man Qing tonight had something come up, so he moved the session to the morning. Bao Xiao Fan went home for a meal. You’re also going home. As for the other two, who knows? They disappeared early in the morning.”

Cheng Hui sighed deeply in distress. “With everyone gone, I’m left all alone. It’s so pitiful.”

Seeing Cheng Hui’s lonely expression, Wen Le couldn’t bear to leave her alone. She hesitated and said, “Why don’t you… come to my house with me?”

Cheng Hui looked at Wen Le in surprise.

Wen Le said, “I mentioned last time that I’d invite you to my house. Since you have time now, why not come?”

Cheng Hui was tempted but hesitated, “Are you sure… I tend to be very terrified in front of elders.”

Wen Le laughed, “Don’t worry about that. My dad won’t be back until tonight.”

Cheng Hui’s eyes brightened at the news. “Alright! Let me tidy up a bit.”

Since Cheng Hui didn’t wear much makeup, she quickly got ready, put on a new outfit, and tidied her hair. Meanwhile, Wen Le just found the USB drive she was looking for in her drawer.

Looking at Cheng Hui, who had changed into a new outfit, Wen Le gave her a thumbs up. “With your speed, you deserve to be the sprinting champion since childhood.”

Locking the dorm room, the two girls left the dormitory building.

Cheng Hui was still excited. “How are we going to your house? By bus or subway?”

Wen Le hesitated and said slowly, “I… have a driver…”

As they spoke, they arrived at the parking lot.

There weren’t many cars in the parking lot on weekends, and even fewer people, so a black Audi A8 and the well-dressed person standing next to it stood out.

Cheng Hui was dumbfounded. “Your… your driver?”

“Oh, right. You’re so down-to-earth, I often forget that you’re a wealthy young lady.”

Wen Le had informed the butler in advance that she was bringing a friend home. When they arrived home, the butler had already prepared a sumptuous lunch.

Worried that Cheng Hui might not be used to it, Wen Le asked the butler to arrange lunch in the small dining room. After the dishes were served, everyone left, and the door was closed, making it feel like a small private room.

Cheng Hui felt like her eyes were about to pop out on the way here. When the door finally closed, she breathed a sigh of relief. “Wow! This is so grand.”

Seeing Cheng Hui still energetic, Wen Le also relaxed and said, “Just be yourself, you don’t need to feel uncomfortable.”

Cheng Hui said, “I thought your family would have maids, like they do on TV.”

Wen Le chuckled, “These people at home are all longtime employees of the Wen family, they’ve watched me grow up. They’re very kind. Many of them used to live with me in the mountains. I used to be a wild child, so just be yourself and don’t worry too much.”

Cheng Hui asked, “Would they think I’m too casual if I’m too carefree?”

Wen Le replied, “When I was a child, I used to climb trees and swim. They’ve developed strong hearts by now.”

Cheng Hui couldn’t help but laugh, feeling a lot less restrained.

After lunch, the two went upstairs to Wen Le’s room.

Cheng Hui pulled Wen Le to visit her wardrobe, and when Wen Le opened the door to the wardrobe, Cheng Hui exclaimed, “What the hell!”

Cheng Hui felt like she was being blinded by the half-wall of Hermes bags. “This is insane, absolutely insane!”

Trembling, Cheng Hui grabbed Wen Le’s hand. “Lele, you only just found out about your status as a wealthy young lady recently. When did you manage to accumulate this many Hermes bags?”

Wen Le replied, “Believe it or not, I didn’t buy any of these bags.”

Cheng Hui asked, “Your dad gave them to you? Isn’t it a bit extravagant to give so many at once?”

Wen Le whispered, “It seems like my Aunt Yu helped me collect them. She’s been collecting them for years, so these are all limited edition and rare leather.”

Cheng Hui: … let me just curse this once – fuck!

Why don’t I have an aunt like that?

Cheng Hui’s eyes lingered on the wall of bags, and suddenly she noticed something. She grabbed Wen Le’s hand in disbelief. “Oh my goodness, does your family only consider bags with six-figure prices worthy of being displayed on the wall? Is that why the ones below are just piled on the floor?”

At this moment, Wen Le also noticed the pile of unopened boxes on the floor. She was surprised and waved her hand. “No, I hadn’t seen these on the floor before I left this morning…”

Wen Le found it strange and approached to open a half-opened box. Inside, as Cheng Hui had said, lay a small lambskin bag with the C logo.

Cheng Hui was shocked. “Damn! Are lambskin bags only worthy of being thrown on the floor? This is outrageous!”

Just as Wen Le was bewildered by the sudden appearance of these bags in her wardrobe, Li Ni walked in.

Li Ni could be considered her personal assistant? Wen Le didn’t know what to call Li Ni’s identity. This sister was also a member of the Wen family, although she wasn’t familiar with Wen Le, she cared a lot about her.

Li Ni was wearing the same black uniform as the other people in the house. Seeing Wen Le squatting in front of the pile of boxes, she came forward to help Wen Le unpack the other packages. She said, “Miss, these just arrived this morning. As soon as you left, they were delivered. They were ordered by President Yu a while ago. Since your wardrobe is already full, I just talked to the butler, and he plans to rearrange the adjacent guest room and make it into a new wardrobe for you. These bags will be temporarily placed here. Take a look and see if there’s anything you want to use. You can take it out in advance.”

Cheng Hui had been shocked by Wen Le’s family’s extravagance the entire way here, and her level of shock was constantly being refreshed.

Cheng Hui covered her forehead and said, “Let’s go out.”

Wen Le said, “Ah, it is indeed a bit messy here.”

Cheng Hui said, “No, I need to go out and calm down.”

The two of them left the wardrobe and lay on Wen Le’s bed playing with their phones, chatting casually.

After typing on her phone for a while, as if chatting with someone, Cheng Hui stared at the screen for a moment and asked, “What event did you sign up for at the New Year’s Eve party?”

    Wen Le replied, “Piano.”

Cheng Hui smiled and said, “Great! You did sign up after all. Now our dorm has fulfilled its quota.”

Wen Le asked, “What do you mean?”

Cheng Hui explained, “The dorm leader just sent a message in our group chat, asking each dorm to come up with a performance for the New Year’s Eve party. Since you’ve signed up from our dorm, there’s no need for anyone else to do it. I knew the college would want you to participate. Haha!”

Seeing Cheng Hui’s triumphant expression, Wen Le chuckled and said, “My slot belongs to the Student Union because it was the Student Union senior who signed me up. I’m afraid our dorm still needs to come up with a performance, right?”

Cheng Hui was shocked. “Really? Oh no, does that mean our dorm will have to come up with another death skit?”

As soon as she mentioned the “death skit,” Wen Le couldn’t help bursting into laughter.

It was during their freshman year, during some event when each dorm was required to come up with a performance. While other dorms sang songs or danced, their dorm, consisting of tough guys and clueless girls, decided to perform a skit.

They rehearsed tirelessly for two weeks, only to be rejected by the reviewing teacher during the final rehearsal.

Afterward, the dorm leader asked the class monitor, “You were laughing so happily while we were being reviewed. Doesn’t that mean our skit was successful? So why did the reviewing teacher reject us?”

The class monitor was full of grievances. “I received a bribe from Bao Xiaofan, a packet of spicy strips, to try to liven up the atmosphere for you guys, but obviously, it failed… The way the reviewing teacher looked at me was as if I were an iceberg… sob…”

The residents of Room 307 were deeply affected by this incident and became even more determined to stay away from any performances at future events.

Thinking about the past, Wen Le waved her hand quickly. “Forget about it, forget about it. I was just teasing you. My performance counts as ours.”

Cheng Hui glared at Wen Le, then lowered her head and picked up her phone again. “You scared me for a moment there.”

She resumed scrolling through her phone.

Wen Le grabbed a pillow and laid down on her stomach, playing with her phone. Meanwhile, Zhou Kao took advantage of a break in his busy schedule to send Wen Le a few WeChat messages with flirtatious tones.

Wen Le couldn’t be bothered to respond and sent a sticker indicating she was busy with work, then secretly checked Zhou Kao’s Moments to see his daily updates.

Before he got together with Wen Le, Zhou Kao had maintained a cool and aloof persona, or at least that’s how he appeared to outsiders. His Moments were as clean as if they belonged to a fake account. However, ever since they got together, Wen Le’s Moments were often flooded with Zhou Kao’s posts.

Every little thing warranted a post—what he ate for dinner, a picture of something interesting he saw, what flavour ice cream he had recently, when he took a break, etc.

Wen Le knew Zhou Kao’s little tricks very well. A large part of their Moments overlapped, but Wen Le never saw anyone she knew giving him likes. So she knew Zhou Kao must have set his Moments to be visible only to her.

This wasn’t just about posting on Moments; it was a way for him to indirectly share his daily life with Wen Le and subtly make some requests for attention.

Normally, Wen Le hardly ever checked Moments, but because of Zhou Kao’s actions, she had started to check them more frequently. Sometimes, if she couldn’t find any updates, she’d feel a little annoyed.

Just as Wen Le had opened Zhou Kao’s Moments, her phone buzzed a few times. It must be Zhou Kao pestering her.

Ignoring him, Wen Le continued scrolling through Moments.

Sure enough, she saw a post from Zhou Kao a few minutes ago.

Username “Dog Egg” (Wen Le’s new nickname for Zhou Kao): Was busy from 8 am until now. What should I eat? [Picture]

The accompanying picture was of the scenery outside Zhou Kao’s office. Seeing this, Wen Le knew he was still in the office, so she rolled her eyes and closed WeChat without responding, then switched to another app.

Twenty minutes later, the receptionist at Zhou Kao’s company received a delivery.

Carrying the food, the receptionist brought it to the office of the CEO, then handed it to the secretary, who then brought it to Zhou Kao’s office.

Zhou Kao’s eyes lit up when he received the delivery, like a child receiving candy.

The secretary was puzzled and asked why he seemed so happy, then left after delivering the food.

Zhou Kao leisurely opened the package and picked up the receipt. In the notes section, it said: “Eat your own dog food.”

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 64

    Continue Dating

The two went to C-brand and went around looking. They didn’t buy a bag but ended up buying a dress instead.

Wen Le stood in front of the counter looking at bags while Zhou Kao’s gaze caught a piece of clothing. He said something to the nearby shop assistant, and the assistant then took out a white dress.

Zhou Kao took the dress and compared it to Wen Le.

Wen Le turned around in confusion, “What’s up?”

Zhou Kao handed the dress to Wen Le, “It suits you very well.”

Wen Le took the dress and looked at it. It was a white princess-style dress, full of girlish charm. Moreover, the dress’s neckline, sleeves, and length of the skirt perfectly matched the abstinent style Zhou Kao had mentioned earlier.

Wen Le had a diverse style, but recently she didn’t particularly like girlish styles, feeling a bit disgusted. “No thanks.”

However, Zhou Kao was very determined, smiling as he grasped Wen Le’s shoulder and pushed her toward the fitting room. “Give it a try. You’ll like it.”

Wen Le was reluctantly pushed by Zhou Kao towards the fitting room, and as they went in, she asked, “Oh, so you like this innocent princess style?”

Zhou Kao chuckled. Taking advantage of the shop assistant’s inattention, he kissed Wen Le’s face lightly, “I only like what you like. Go on, try it. You’ll like it.”

Wen Le snorted lightly, but Zhou Kao managed to make her happy. Holding the clothes, she went into the fitting room.

Actually, Wen Le didn’t dislike the dress, she just felt it looked very ordinary, without that ‘wow’ factor. But since Zhou Kao insisted on her trying it, she decided to give it a try to let him see the truth of his straight male gaze.

Of course, this was a bit difficult, after all, what dress wouldn’t look good on a beauty like her?

Wen Le felt a bit proud in her heart, her mind a mess, as she changed into the dress.

But Wen Le never expected that this dress, which looked so ordinary, would turn out to be so stunning when worn!

As Wen Le walked out of the fitting room, she clearly heard the shop assistant’s exclamation.

This dress, which looked so girlish and sweet, turned out to be so fairy-like when worn, almost as if it could ascend right then and there.

Zhou Kao walked up with a smile, supporting Wen Le’s shoulder, standing with her in front of the fitting room mirror.

Wen Le looked at herself in the mirror, her hands couldn’t help but cover her chest, her heart pounding from the dress’s stunning effect. After a while, she said, “Damn… this dress is so beautiful!”

Zhou Kao smiled, “What do you think? Does your boyfriend have good taste?”

Wen Le excitedly turned around and grabbed Zhou Kao’s hand, her eyes sparkling, “How did you know? I didn’t even know I’d look this good in it!”

Zhou Kao leaned close to Wen Le’s ear, speaking in a voice only she could hear, “Because all I see is you in my eyes, so I understand your beauty the most.”

Wen Le blushed at Zhou Kao’s flirtation, her heartbeat quickening. She felt a bit shy to look into Zhou Kao’s eyes, but Zhou Kao kept staring straight at her. Feeling a bit overwhelmed, Wen Le said, “I’ll go change back.”

Wen Le’s dress fluttered quickly as she disappeared back into the fitting room.

Zhou Kao smiled as he went to pay at the cashier. As he passed by a few shop assistants, he heard their whispers, “Oh my, My eyes almost popped out just now. That dress is so ethereal! Clearly, it didn’t look too good hence it isn’t selling well, but once she put it on, it’s like she’s a fairy about to ascend to heaven.”

“If this beauty were a model, these dresses would be sold out in minutes. It’s amazing…”

“Well, as long as you’re good-looking, even if your boyfriend has a straight male gaze, it can still be useful, probably because being a Barbie doll fan isn’t a flaw in front of a beauty.”

“Hahaha, I was just thinking the same thing when the handsome guy took that white dress, I was about to say what kind of straight male gaze is this, but I didn’t expect his girlfriend to be so awesome…”

“Maybe it’s because her boyfriend has a discerning eye…”

When Wen Le came out, Zhou Kao had already settled the bill, holding a brand-new dress in his hand.

Wen Le linked arms with her boyfriend and happily left the store.

The movie had already started by then. The two got their tickets checked and entered. Wen Le held two cups of milk tea, while Zhou Kao carried Wen Le’s down jacket and the gifts they bought while shopping. The theatre was dimly lit, but it was vaguely visible that most of the audience were couples. The two sat on the double sofa in the back row to watch the movie.

Suddenly, Wen Le remembered something and looked at the neckline of Zhou Kao’s shirt, “By the way, why aren’t you wearing the necklace I gave you?”

Zhou Kao smirked, “Finally remembered. I was waiting for you to put it on for me.”

Wen Le made a soft noise of acknowledgment and took the necklace Zhou Kao took out from his pocket, putting it around Zhou Kao’s neck from behind.

The necklace was a bit long, hanging about five or six centimeters below Zhou Kao’s collarbone when he put it on.

Wen Le turned Zhou Kao’s body slightly, carefully examining the necklace. Then, as if on a whim, she reached out and touched the pendant.

Zhou Kao lowered his head to see what Wen Le was up to.

Wen Le’s long eyelashes trembled, and then she leaned down, gently kissing the pendant.

Zhou Kao’s breath hitched, his Adam’s apple bobbing up and down.

But Wen Le didn’t stop there. Carefully glancing around the surroundings, she saw that the double sofas in the theatre were divided by iron railings, making each a private space.

Feeling assured they wouldn’t be noticed, Wen Le reached out and unbuttoned Zhou Kao’s shirt, one button at a time.

Zhou Kao looked at Wen Le with a dark gaze, seemingly suppressing some emotion.

Wen Le unbuttoned the four buttons of Zhou Kao’s shirt, then placed the pendant she had kissed against his skin, just above his chest.

Wen Le buttoned up Zhou Kao’s shirt again, then, with a layer of shirt fabric between them, she touched the position of the pendant and smiled, “I’ll keep the star I picked for you and my kiss right here in your heart.”

After saying that, she even winked at Zhou Kao.

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 63

    A Dominant CEO Plot

Indeed, as soon as the two entered the restaurant, they attracted a lot of attention, but of course, the situation described by Cheng Hui did not occur.

Both of them, whether in appearance or temperament, were too outstanding. Wen Le even heard some whispers: “Are they celebrities?”

“I don’t know, but their looks are too good…”

The two sat down in a corner.

    After ordering, the waiter left.

Zhou Kao cleared his throat and said, “Shall we begin now?”

Wen Le didn’t react at first. “Begin what?”

    Zhou Kao said, “Confessing.”

Wen Le rolled her eyes ungracefully. “Pass, I don’t really want to hear it.”

Wen Le complained silently while speaking. Is romance always a trap? Does a confession not require a sense of surprise? What’s the point of asking?

Feeling frustrated, Wen Le took a sip of water to calm herself down. She really didn’t want to talk to this person, he was so annoying.

However, Zhou Kao just chuckled softly and whispered, “Let me perform a magic trick for you.”

Wen Le raised an eyebrow and reluctantly said, “Oh, okay.”

Then she rested her chin on her hand and quietly watched Zhou Kao’s performance.

Although she agreed verbally, her posture and expression did not cooperate.

Zhou Kao just smiled as he took a red rose from the vase on the table, covered it with a napkin, and then placed his other hand on top of the napkin.

Wen Le wasn’t particularly interested at first, but her attention was drawn to Zhou Kao’s hand because it was so well-defined.

As Wen Le was distracted by tracing the contours of Zhou Kao’s hand, she suddenly saw Zhou Kao lift the white napkin, revealing a square sapphire ring in his hand.

And the rose was truly gone.

Wen Le blinked in surprise. She put down her hand and grabbed Zhou Kao’s hands to inspect them, and even looked down at the ground to make sure the rose was really gone.

Wen Le exclaimed, “Where did it go?”

Zhou Kao just smiled and said nothing.

Wen Le asked, “When did you learn this magic trick?”

Zhou Kao replied, “Not long ago, to make our dates more romantic for my girlfriend, so that certain people wouldn’t keep calling me a dog behind my back.”

Wen Le cleared her throat nervously.

Zhou Kao reached out and took Wen Le’s hand, placing the approximately ten-carat sapphire ring on her finger. He said, “I heard that the Wen family spends a lot on jewelry every year, so I figured the women of the Wen family must enjoy collecting jewelry. I wonder if this counts as hitting the mark.”

Wen Le felt as sweet as if she had just drunk a can of sugar. She extended her fair and slender fingers, examining the flawless sapphire reflecting dazzling brilliance under the lights from various angles.

Zhou Kao propped his chin on his hand, watching Wen Le with a smile in his eyes. “Do you like it?”

Wen Le nodded. “You have good taste.”

Zhou Kao pulled Wen Le’s hand towards him and kissed it gently. He said, “Being able to buy jewelry for your loved one is probably one of the proudest things for a man.”

“Wen Le, I hope from now on, I’ll be the one buying your jewelry.”

Looking into Zhou Kao’s eyes, Wen Le imagined there might be a galaxy inside, too beautiful, intoxicating her like strong liquor, causing her face to flush.

Wen Le covered her cheeks with her hands, her voice slightly airy. “Your… your confession was not bad.”

Zhou Kao smiled, about to say something, but at that moment, the waiter interrupted them with the dishes.

Zhou Kao stopped talking, and Wen Le put her hands down, adopting a serious expression. She lightly brushed her bangs aside and the 10-carat sapphire on her finger sparkled under the light. The waiter couldn’t help but glance at Wen Le’s hand before serving the dishes and leaving.

Zhou Kao could tell that Wen Le loved the ring, and he felt happy too.

After the waiter left, Wen Le cleared her throat and took out a small blue velvet box from her bag. The box was decorated with golden patterns resembling orchids.

Wen Le opened the box and pushed it to the centre of the table, revealing a men’s necklace inside.

The style was very simple, but the design was unique.

The pendant was a polygonal star, looking cool but not ostentatious, attractive and generous.

Wen Le smiled. “Zhou Kao, this is a star your girlfriend plucked for you.”

Zhou Kao chuckled and rubbed his forehead. “I actually have a girlfriend who wants to pluck stars for her boyfriend. Sigh.”

His voice was deep and cool, making Wen Le’s ears tingle uncomfortably. She rubbed her ears uneasily. “Is it not good?”

    Zhou Kao said, “It’s good.”

Zhou Kao’s eyes were smiling. “The script was given by the CEO.”

Wen Le blushed at Zhou Kao’s insight into her thoughts. She cleared her throat and tried to maintain a calm appearance, but her face was getting redder.

Zhou Kao took out the necklace and held it in his hand, carefully examining it. He noticed a pattern on the back of the necklace that was the same as the orchid pattern on the lid of the box.

Zhou Kao pointed to the orchid pattern. “What does this mean?”

Wen Le took a glance and shook her head. “I don’t know. It seems like this pattern is all over my clothes.”

Zhou Kao just casually asked, and seeing Wen Le didn’t know, he didn’t ask further.

But suddenly Wen Le remembered something. “I told my dad I came today to test you, but how do I explain this ring?”

Zhou Kao said, “You can say I took the rose and the ring, and, premeditatedly, I confessed first.”

Wen Le clicked her tongue lightly. “Would it be too exaggerated to confess with a ten-carat sapphire ring?”

Zhou Kao: “…Seems a bit… Then, why don’t you hide it first and say I confessed with the rose?”

    Wen Le said, “Okay.”

After dinner, with more than forty minutes before the movie started, the two went downstairs to go shopping. Saying they were shopping, it was actually Zhou Kao accompanying Wen Le to look at women’s clothing.

Wen Le linked arms with Zhou Kao. With their exceptional looks, they attracted a lot of attention wherever they went.

After looking at several shops without finding the desired clothes, Zhou Kao joked, “Why bother coming in? You’ve compared all the clothes in the whole store. Where can you find something you like?”

Wen Le casually took a piece of clothing from the rack and said, “You don’t understand, shopping is a girl’s fun.”

But as soon as she finished speaking, Zhou Kao took the clothes from her and hung them back on the rack.

Wen Le hadn’t had time to evaluate the clothes she had just taken from the rack before Zhou Kao put them back. “What are you doing?”

Saying this, Wen Le was about to take the clothes out again.

Zhou Kao said, “It doesn’t look good, it’s not suitable for you.”

Wen Le became stubborn upon hearing this. “I’m going to see what clothes I can’t wear.”

Seeing that he couldn’t stop Wen Le, Zhou Kao no longer tried to stop her. He saw Wen Le pick up a dress, low-cut and backless, and it was also super short.

Wen Le frowned. “Hmm… it’s not quite what I imagined…”

But then Wen Le laughed and compared the clothes to herself, saying, “But I seem to have never tried this style before…”

Before she could finish her sentence, Zhou Kao pulled her out and said, “Today isn’t really suitable for buying clothes. How about I buy you a bag instead? I see there’s a C-brand store ahead. Don’t you girls all like it?”

Wen Le, being pulled out of the store by Zhou Kao, was still pondering seriously. “Do you think I should change my style? I actually feel like I always dress too girly, it’s a bit monotonous.”

“What made you think of this?”

Zhou Kao pinched Wen Le’s cheek but was slapped away by Wen Le.

After calming down a bit, Zhou Kao patiently said, “Have you read romance novels?”

    Wen Le nodded.

Zhou Kao said, “Are the bosses in there all about the abstinent style?”

Wen Le thought for a moment, then nodded again.

Zhou Kao continued, “Just now, you were following the dominant CEO plot, right?”

Wen Le’s eyes wandered, she didn’t say it herself.

Zhou Kao said, “So shouldn’t you continue with your abstinent style?”

Wen Le blinked, “Is it that people from your law school always sound so reasonable and logical when they talk?”

After saying this, she couldn’t help but chuckle.

Zhou Kao also laughed at her words, tightened his grip on Wen Le’s hand, thought for a moment, and said, “Forget it, if you want to buy, just go ahead.”

Saying this, Zhou Kao pulled Wen Le to wander around the entire floor. Wen Le didn’t know what Zhou Kao was looking for. Zhou Kao stopped at a nearby women’s lingerie store, then coughed lightly, feeling a bit embarrassed, turned away from the store, facing Wen Le, and said, “You want to change your style, right? Want something sexy? Go ahead, get the sexiest set they have inside.”

Wen Le widened her eyes in disbelief and looked at Zhou Kao.

Zhou Kao still had his back to the lingerie store. He leaned in close to Wen Le’s ear and whispered, “You can be sexy, but only sexy for me to see.”

Wen Le’s face turned red, and Zhou Kao’s face was actually slowly turning red too.

Zhou Kao pushed Wen Le toward the direction of the lingerie store. “Go on.”

Wen Le’s face was still red, tugging tightly onto Zhou Kao’s sleeves. “No, no, I’m not going”

Zhou Kao continued nudging her, “There are not many open-minded boyfriends like me, just go on in.”

Wen Le’s face was red as if it was about to bleed. She suddenly hugged Zhou Kao’s waist tightly and shook her head vigorously, “No, no, I’m a woman who’s following the dominant CEO plot.”

Zhou Kao asked, “Really not going in?”

Wen Le nodded sorrowfully, “Let’s go, dear, let’s go see the bags at the C-brand store.”

The two reached an agreement and left holding hands as if nothing had happened just now.

Wen Le gritted her teeth in her heart.

    Damn it!

    You win!

  • I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 62

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 62

    Edited by Elv

    Mission Date

The week before Christmas, all the major shops in the streets and alleys were adorned with new decorations. The air seemed to be filled with a restless atmosphere, constantly reminding people that Christmas was approaching, and it was time for couples to go out and have fun, while the time for teasing the single folks was also coming.

It seemed that every festival was an excuse for couples to show affection, whether it was showing off in restaurants, on the square, or on social media. And Christmas was destined to be another day that would torment the single folks.

Zhou Kao had stayed up for two nights in a row, finally freeing up Christmas Eve to accompany his girlfriend on a date. He was still quite nervous.

Ever since Wen Le mentioned helping him strategize against his future father-in-law, they lacked an opportunity to inform his future father-in-law that they were truly together. And this Christmas party undoubtedly presented a perfect opportunity.

The issue of status was crucial. Zhou Kao was eager to solidify this relationship as soon as possible, so he absolutely couldn’t miss such a good opportunity as Christmas.

On Thursday night, Wen Le specially came home to stay for a day. Wen Tianqi was obviously very happy that his daughter had come home to stay. At the dinner table, Wen Tianqi asked Wen Le, “Aren’t you busy lately? I remember tomorrow is Friday, not the weekend.”

Wen Le smiled and said, “Today is Christmas Eve, Dad.” Saying this, she took out a small box from her bag and handed it to Wen Tianqi. “I came back to have dinner with Dad. This is a gift for Dad.”

Wen Tianqi felt deeply moved, and his heart warmed.

The Wen family actually didn’t have the tradition of celebrating Christmas. Wen Tianqi even forgot that tonight was Christmas Eve and had forgotten to prepare a Christmas gift for Wen Le. He didn’t want to disappoint his daughter, so he patted her head and said, “Dad has prepared a gift for you, but you can only see it tomorrow.”

Wen Tianqi planned to notify his secretary to prepare it overnight; it must be ready by the next day.

Wen Le nodded happily, looking very obedient. Wen Tianqi felt content in his heart; his daughter must be the best daughter in the world.

Wen Tianqi then asked, “What are your plans for Christmas tomorrow?”

Wen Le said, “Tomorrow is Christmas, although we don’t have a holiday, but fortunately, we don’t have classes on Friday afternoons. I plan to…” As she spoke, Wen Le’s face gradually turned red, and she whispered something in Wen Tianqi’s ear.

Wen Tianqi’s initial reaction was somewhat displeased because Wen Le told him she planned to test the attitude of the boy she secretly admired. Wen Tianqi felt it was unfair for his daughter; the boy must be blind if he needed his daughter to test his attitude!

But seeing his daughter’s enthusiastic appearance, Wen Tianqi didn’t say anything. He just prayed in his heart that the boy wouldn’t be ignorant and upset his daughter.

Wen Tianqi asked Wen Le, “How are you planning to test him?”

Wen Le said, “Tomorrow is Christmas, and I’m going to ask him out for a meal. If he asks, I’ll just say I need his help with something. If he agrees, then there might be a chance. If he doesn’t agree, then maybe there’s no chance.”

“If he agrees, how will you be sure if he’s really interested in you or if he’s just going out for a meal?”

“If he agrees, I’ll take him to a place where there are many couples and see his reaction. I think if he doesn’t like me, seeing so many couples might make him look cold, uncomfortable, or even unhappy. But if he likes me, then I should be able to tell.”

“For example, he might blush, he might frequently make eye contact with me, and he might also be more enthusiastic.”

Hearing Wen Le say this, Wen Tianqi felt uncomfortable, but knowing that his daughter was still quite sensible, he felt somewhat relieved.

But then, Wen Le added, “Anyway, that’s what I found online…”

    Wen Tianqi: …

He suddenly felt worried about this test.

Seeing Wen Tianqi still silent, Wen Le, full of anticipation, said, “If he likes me but is shy, I can confess first. Am I brave, Dad?”

Wen Tianqi felt a lump in his chest, unsure how to respond. With a daughter like Wen Le, who has such qualities, does she still need to confess first? Is the other person an idiot?

Wen Tianqi was furious, only hoping that the boy would take the initiative. Otherwise, hehe… this boy might not have a chance.

That night, Wen Le seemed very excited. After dinner, she ran to her room to pick out clothes.

Wen Le was probably too excited and kept dragging Wen Tianqi to look at her outfits.

Holding up one set of clothes after another, she asked, “Dad, does this set look good? How about this one?”

Wen Tianqi felt both sad and relieved. Sad because his daughter was so excited to be with that boy, but relieved because his daughter hadn’t been this close with him since she was twelve.

Wen Tianqi felt both emotions as he watched Wen Le pick out clothes in front of him.

But Wen Tianqi thought his daughter looked good in every outfit.

    And he really meant it.

    “This one looks good.”

Pointing to another one, Wen Le asked, “What about this one?”

Wen Tianqi replied, “That one looks good too.”

Finally, Wen Le could only sigh and put down the clothes, saying, “Dad, can you give me some honest opinions?”

But Wen Tianqi just smiled and said, “But everything Dad said was true. You really look good in every outfit.”

Wen Le pouted, feeling a bit unhappy.

Wen Tianqi quickly pointed to a red dress and said, “Lele, you look the most beautiful in that dress. As long as you wear this red dress, even the most blind guy will be captivated by you.”

Wen Le happily picked up the dress and compared it in front of herself, saying, “I also think this dress looks nice. Dad, you have great taste.”

Wen Tianqi smiled and tapped his forehead, saying, “Alright, you’ve chosen your clothes. I should go to work now.”

Wen Le nodded, waved goodbye to her dad, and watched him leave.

As the door closed behind her, the joyous expression on Wen Le’s face disappeared. She looked in the direction her father had left, smiled faintly, and then put down the dress in her hand.

Just like her father, she also wanted to strengthen the bond between them.

On Friday morning, Wen Le didn’t wear that red dress. Its bold colour and design were more suitable for a date, not for everyday wear. Instead, she wore a simple sweater, jeans, and a down jacket.

She was sent to class by Xiao Yang early in the morning and returned to her dormitory at noon to change into the dress.

Her roommates remembered the red dress from Auntie Wen’s last shipment. It was one of the best dresses Wen Le had received.

This dress originally had long sleeves, suitable for wearing in autumn. If worn in winter, you’d need to layer it with a down jacket. However, since they were having their date in the mall, the warm air inside was sufficient, and even without the down jacket, Wen Le could still manage to wear this red dress.

Initially, Wen Le had left this dress in the dormitory, but because the skirt was a bit long and took up space in the wardrobe, she had asked Xiao Yang to take it back home. This time when she went back, she brought the dress back with her.

The dress, with its long sleeves and tailored suit-style top, combined with a cute waist and long layered skirt, resembled a blooming red rose.

Wen Le’s roommates couldn’t help but tease her when they saw the dress. “Going on a date?” they joked.

Wen Le, no longer shy, nodded and said, “Yep.”

“Ah, Christmas, just an excuse for you couples to go out and have fun,” they remarked.

Wen Le laughed and stuck out her tongue.

Wen Le put on the dress and sat in front of the dressing table, applying delicate makeup. To complement the all-red ensemble without looking too flashy, she added some shimmering eyeshadow to her lower and upper eyelids. With matching red lipstick and her newly dyed light brown wavy hair styled with a curling iron, she slipped on a pair of black high heels.

She looked like a refined red rose, stunningly beautiful yet with a hint of innocence and grace.

Cheng Hui covered her chest and said, “Wen Le, I suggest you don’t go out like this. Otherwise, the consequences could be disastrous.”

Wen Le didn’t understand. “What do you mean?” she asked.

Cheng Hui replied, “If you go out like this, you two will be on a date, surrounded by other couples at the restaurant. You might end up causing others to be breaking up right then and there.”

    “Ah?”

“Just think about it. A lovely couple goes out on a date, and suddenly, you, a fairy, appear out of nowhere. The guy’s eyes will be glued to you. Oh, I can imagine it all now. The wine, the dripping water, and the sound of applause,”

Wen Le chuckled. “You’re getting better at flattery,” she praised.

Chen Hui replied proudly with a thumbs up, “Of course.”

As they were talking, they noticed that Bao Xiaofan had already changed into a dress and was quietly doing her makeup in front of the dressing table.

“You! What’s going on?” Man Qingxuan exclaimed.

Bao Xiaofan smirked but didn’t say anything.

“What’s up? Are you going on a date with a junior high schooler?” Man Qingxuan asked.

Bao Xiaofan grinned and said, “Just going out for a simple meal, that’s all.”

While the two were interrogating Bao Xiaofan, Wen Le grabbed her bag, put on her down jacket, and slipped out.

Zhou Kao was waiting downstairs for Wen Le. Since there were quite a few people downstairs, he didn’t get out of the car. Wen Le recognized his Passat and got into the passenger seat.

Zhou Kao started the car. “I’ve always been curious, how did you manage to win over your dad?”

Wen Le laughed. “Actually, it’s quite simple. I just told him that I have a crush on a guy. Wasn’t that clever?”

Zhou Kao patted Wen Le’s head and smiled. “My girlfriend is amazing!”

“But does your dad think I’m blind?” Zhou Kao asked.

    Wen Le laughed. “Definitely.”

“How did you tell him today?” Zhou Kao asked.

“I told him that I was going to confess to you when we went out today,” Wen Le said.

“It seems like we’re on a mission during our date today,” Zhou Kao joked.

“But,” Zhou Kao continued with a smile, “let me do the confessing. Otherwise, I might not dare to face your dad.”

Wen Le chuckled. “Of course, it’s up to you.”

Zhou Kao drove to a shopping mall near the school. Like any other couple, they had dinner first, then went shopping, and finally watched a movie.

It was hot inside the mall, so Wen Le took off her down jacket and held it in her hand. Zhou Kao took it from her, and as his gaze swept over Wen Le’s red dress, a hint of amazement flickered in his eyes.

Wen Le noticed his reaction and smiled, turning around in a circle. “Do I look good?”

The layers of the skirt looked even more like a blooming rose.

Zhou Kao coughed lightly. “Maybe you should wear the jacket after all?”

Wen Le objected, “I don’t want to.”

“Although I’m proud to have such a beautiful girlfriend, I do feel a bit threatened,” Zhou Kao said.

Wen Le glanced at Zhou Kao, with his long legs in black pants, shirt, and windbreaker. His superior figure and handsome appearance made just as much of an impression as her flashy red dress.

Wen Le looked Zhou Kao up and down. “Boyfriend, if I don’t dress boldly, how will those girls know to back off?”

Zhou Kao chuckled. “It seems we’re in sync on this.”

I’m Actually Really Rich Chapter 61

    Edited by Elv

    I Pamper You Too Much

Wen Le smiled, “Looks like for convenience’s sake, we indeed need to arrange for a status.”

Zhou Kao smirked, “Are you going to confess to your dad?”

Wen Le said, “Let’s test the waters first.”

“But… how did you manage to get in here?”

Zhou Kao pointed to the building next to them. “That’s my aunt and uncle’s place.”

Wen Le raised an eyebrow. “So you came to see your aunt and just happened to see me?”

Zhou Kao sighed. “I came to see you and came up with an excuse to visit my aunt and uncle.”

Wen Le was puzzled. “You needed an excuse to visit your aunt and uncle?”

Zhou Kao sighed again. “My cousin and I don’t get along too well. It’s like he has what I lack, and I have what he lacks.”

Wen Le was genuinely surprised. Zhou Kao’s demeanor appeared proud and aloof, but in reality, he had his own set of principles when it came to dealing with people, never causing embarrassment to others.

Therefore, even though he seemed distant, he was well-liked.

Wen Le couldn’t imagine how he could have such a serious conflict with his cousin.

“You’re exaggerating it a bit, aren’t you?” Wen Le said.

Zhou Kao chuckled. “You caught me. The reason why I only appear when he’s not there is mainly because I always try to avoid him. I basically never show up in the same space as him.”

    “Why do you avoid him?”

Zhou Kao didn’t say much, just said, “Different personalities, I guess.”

    “Did you see him tonight?”

Zhou Kao smiled. “I came while he wasn’t here.”

Zhou Kao glanced at Wen Le’s slightly reddened nose. Despite his reluctance, he said, “You should go back now, Little Landlady.”

Wen Le glanced at Zhou Kao’s hand, still tightly holding hers, showing obvious reluctance for her to leave.

Wen Le glanced at the time on her phone and sighed softly, “You’re such a busy person.”

Hearing this, Zhou Kao couldn’t help but ruffle Wen Le’s hair gently and whispered, “Once I’m done with this busy period, I’ll stick to you every day.”

Wen Le remained expressionless. “I’m afraid by then it’ll be holiday break.”

Zhou Kao said, “You’ve moved to Beijing, right? No problem, I’ll just move in with my aunt and uncle.”

Wen Le said, “Don’t be silly. I’m going back to spend Chinese New Year with my grandparents.”

Upon hearing that he would be thousands of kilometres away from Wen Le for a month, Zhou Kao felt like his heart was being torn apart as if he could already feel the unbearable pain of longing even before they parted.

But his duty to the company was something he couldn’t ignore. He couldn’t just abandon everything…

Wen Le hadn’t intended to make things difficult for Zhou Kao. Despite Zhou Kao being busy for over twenty days without a meeting, she hadn’t complained. However, her heart was filled with Zhou Kao, and she naturally longed for his company.

The thought of Zhou Kao possibly not having much time to spend with her before the New Year made even the strong-willed Wen Le unable to resist venting a few complaints.

But seeing Zhou Kao’s distressed look, Wen Le felt sorry for him. “Alright, I’ll make sure to spend more weekends with you in the future.”

Upon hearing Wen Le’s words, Zhou Kao looked into her eyes, where he could sense intense emotions swirling. Surprisingly, when he heard Wen Le’s words, Zhou Kao’s first reaction wasn’t gratitude; instead, he felt a chilling impulse, as if he wanted to push everything aside and just be with Wen Le.

Of course, this was just a momentary impulse. Zhou Kao wouldn’t act on it; he knew Wen Le wouldn’t like it. He could only sigh softly, lower his head, and gently kiss Wen Le’s ring. “Girlfriend, you really should go back now.”

Reluctantly, Wen Le turned back towards the villa.

Zhou Kao remained in place until Wen Le disappeared before leaving himself. But as soon as he turned around, he encountered an unexpected guest.

“Oh, little cousin, I was wondering why you were willing to come to my house. Oh, so you’re not here to see your aunt after all?”

Upon hearing this voice, Zhou Kao immediately turned and walked away, but the person behind him seemed oblivious to his unwelcome departure and followed closely.

“Little Zhou Zhou, who was that girl just now? Which family is she from? When did you two start dating? Do Uncle and Aunt know? Hmm, sneaking into someone’s backyard late at night and whispering sweet nothings with a girl, does her father know?”

Zhou Kao coldly glanced at the person behind him. “Pang Xingguang, you’re really annoying.”

Pang Xingguang was a bit intimidated by his younger cousin’s coldness. “Why are you so fierce? Just tell your brother about it. Whose girl is she?”

Glancing at Wen Le’s house, he added, “This family seems new here, very unfamiliar. First time seeing them.”

Zhou Kao remained silent and continued walking ahead while Pang Xingguang kept blabbering. “Tell your brother about it, maybe he can give you some advice. Looking at you being so secretive, tsk tsk, you must not have a proper status yet?”

This seemed to hit a nerve with Zhou Kao, who shot a glare at Pang Xingguang.

“Alright, just keep it to yourself then, I’ll just wait to find Auntie tomorrow”

Zhou Kao scoffed in reply, “Immature.”

He lowered his gaze, knowing that his mother probably already knew everything by now.

“Oh, by the way,” Pang Xingguang said, “I’m going to your school to shoot a film soon.”

    A film? At this time?

“What kind of film would you be filming now for?”

“It’s some kind of promotional video for an event.”

Then Pang Xingguang slung his arm around Zhou Kao’s shoulder. “How about you bring your sister along when I come?”

Zhou Kao glanced at him. “How do you know she goes to A University?”

Pang Xingguang widened his eyes, suddenly understanding. “So she’s your classmate! Then you definitely have to bring her.”

Zhou Kao glanced at the guy and didn’t agree, but didn’t refuse either.

Wen Le returned to the villa and saw Wen Tianqi still waiting downstairs. She couldn’t help but take a few quick steps forward. However, she was always suspecting if her father had noticed something, so she felt a bit guilty and when she got closer, slowed down her steps.

    “Dad.”

Wen Tianqi was holding a tablet and reading documents. He looked up when he heard Wen Le’s voice. “Done taking the photos?”

    Wen Le nodded.

Wen Tianqi patted the sofa next to him. “Are you feeling cold? Come and sit.”

Wen Le sat down, and the two chatted about the domestic economy for a while. Since Wen Le accepted her family situation, Wen Tianqi intentionally or unintentionally guided her to explain more about this aspect. After chatting for a while, as it was getting late, Wen Tianqi changed the topic and started talking about Wen Le’s academic life.

Looking at Wen Tianqi, Wen Le hesitated for a moment but after some thought, she cautiously asked, “Dad, why don’t you approve of me being in a relationship now… is it just because you’re worried it will affect my studies?”

Bringing up this topic, Wen Tianqi was momentarily stunned. Upon looking at Wen Le’s cautious gaze, he felt a bit sad. Of course, it wasn’t just that simple.

This was somewhat related to his selfishness.

Over the years, Wen Tianqi had only spent two or three months with his daughter each year, and he naturally felt guilty about not being with her enough. He hoped that his daughter would stay by his side for a few more years.

Moreover, Wen Le was a girl, and girls were often more vulnerable in relationships, so Wen Tianqi actually hoped that Wen Le would always be an ambitious, career-oriented, and emotionally strong child.

If Wen Le had a strong career ambition, with the entire Wen family backing her up, she would hardly face any setbacks in life. Besides, the uncertainties that relationships bring about were too great.

Wen Tianqi even had thoughts of finding a match for Wen Le. But hearing Wen Le ask this question, Wen Tianqi knew that Wen Le probably had such thoughts already.

Wen Tianqi couldn’t help but sigh lightly. “Lele, Dad just doesn’t want you to be unhappy or get hurt.”

And no dirty rascal is worthy of her daughter.

Wen Le carefully watched Wen Tianqi’s expression, hesitating, and said, “But Dad, what if I like someone…”

    Wen Tianqi: …

Although he knew this was a very normal thing, Wen Tianqi’s mentality still cracked. He was angry, really angry, a bit sad, and filled with a tiny bit of regret.

Seeing Wen Tianqi’s expression seem off, Wen Le added, “But I don’t know if he likes me back?”

This sentence has the effect of a bomb exploding.

Wen Tianqi was probably about to explode.

His daughter? Wen Le? Have a one-sided crush?

    Is the other person blind?

Wen Tianqi obviously couldn’t tolerate any grievances his daughter might face, and compared to Wen Le being in a relationship, her having a one-sided crush made Wen Tianqi even more irritated, quickly capturing his attention.

Suppressing the anger in his heart for fear of hurting Wen Le’s fragile heart, he tried to calmly and gently ask, “Lele, why do you like him?”

When Wen Tianqi asked this question, Wen Le actually thought about it seriously.

Why does she like Zhou Kao?

Does she like his good looks? His excellence? His sweet words? No, or rather, not just…

Wen Le didn’t know what came to her mind, but she blushed and said, “Dad, he… he’s like the male version of me, only he can stand by my side.”

Wen Tianqi was stunned, seemingly not expecting Wen Le to answer like this. If Wen Le had said she liked the boy’s face, his demeanor, his tenderness, Wen Tianqi could have questioned her, but he didn’t expect Wen Le to say this.

This left Wen Tianqi silent; he had nothing to say to this kind of answer.

Another self in the world… although Wen Tianqi had never encountered such a person, he could imagine how it would feel, how that person would understand him, empathize with him, and thus alleviate the loneliness that was like an ulcer on his bones.

Wen Tianqi seemed to fall into silence. This silence was like a compromise.

Wen Tianqi thought, if there really was such a person in the world, would he hope Wen Le could be with him?

At the same time, Wen Le spoke cautiously, “Dad, how can I get him? Can you teach me?”

Wen Le whispered, “Dad, can you?”

Wen Tianqi’s heart softened, wishing he could give his daughter everything she desired.

He sighed, “Dad can help you get him as a person, but Dad can’t help you get his heart. You should understand what you really want.”

Wen Le didn’t say anything, just lowered her eyes slightly. Wen Tianqi knew that since young, there was nothing Wen Le wanted that she couldn’t get.

After a moment of silence, Wen Tianqi said only one thing, “If he really is the male version of Wen Le, then you’ve already got what you want without doing anything.”

Wen Le’s eyes lit up at his words, and she happily hugged Wen Tianqi, kissing him on the cheek. “Dad, you’re amazing!”

Wen Tianqi was flattered by his daughter’s praise, but unsure what he had done to deserve it.

“I’ll definitely bring him back for you to see!”

Saying this, Wen Le quickly ran back to her room.

Wen Tianqi was still in a daze, thinking there was no person or thing his daughter couldn’t conquer.

Wen Le ran back to her room, closed the door, leaned against it, and giggled to herself. Indeed, her father couldn’t accept her having a crush more than her being in a relationship.

Why did she have to go against her father? A roundabout route would have been more effective. Wen Le, you’re amazing!

Wen Le sent a WeChat message to Zhou Kao.

Zhou Kao received the message and froze, suddenly sitting up from the bed.

Landlady: Alas, I pamper you too much. I actually helped you strategize against your future father-in-law.

Landlady: You can offer up your knees now.

    ZK: !

    ZK: Alright, dear.

ZK: I’ll send it over to you tomorrow.
