    Who Disciplines Who

Who vowed to discipline who before? But now, who was it?

I really wanted to slap myself for my stupidity and carelessness. Why on earth did I choose such a dangerous place that was close to the company to have a talk with my old lover? Why did I forget about Qin Hao, a person with detective senses stronger than a radar?

Qin Hao was like a spy arranged by Han Lei to keep tabs on me so that he would always know of my whereabouts. He acted as Han Lei’s eyes and ears. In fact, this ability of Qin Hao was unearthed after Lin Zhe appeared. It could be said that Qin Hao has unlimited potential. Hmph hmph, if only I could use him…

Forget about it, forget about it…. I should stop wasting my time daydreaming. Just by looking at how Qin Hao gazed at Han Lei would make anyone wonder if this fellow here could very well be a gatekeeper of a “Loyal Gateway*”. If I was not married to Han Lei, I would really suspect that he was Han Lei’s original wife.

Thinking back, Lin Zhe at most had only given me small presents before and that was enough to make Han Lei explode from jealousy. Even though Lin Zhe and I had only lightly kissed, I couldn’t imagine Han Lei’s anger after Qin Hao’s report. My only wish was clear and simple. All I wanted was Qin Hao to be magnanimous and tell the truth as it is and not add oil to vinegar (t/n: adding extra details).

Even though I consoled myself by escaping reality, why do I still feel my scalp tingling.

Against my expectations, Han Lei didn’t immediately call me or directly come up to me. Instead, after work when we met in the parking lot he said with a gentle and reluctant face, “Darling, I have a party that I have to go to so you should go home first. I will try to come back earlier to accompany you. Be good!”

After speaking, he smiled and placed a light kiss on my lips.

After watching him drive away my entire body trembled. I felt my scalp grow numb and I started to bite my finger as I stood in place.

Han Lei’s smile was very frightening. Not only were the corners of his mouth hooked, even his eyes were full of smiles. This was very strange… this was definitely a conspiracy. According to what I know of this fellow, the friendlier he was the darker his intentions were hidden behind his gentle smile.

I couldn’t eat or rest after I returned home.

Of course I wouldn’t be so foolish or naive to believe that comrade Qin Hao hadn’t reported back to Han Lei about the “marvelous” scene he had seen. I also didn’t have any extravagant hope that Han Lei would suddenly hit his head and temporarily lose his memories.

But, why am I afraid of him for no reason? Why am I feeling guilty? It was just a GOODBYE KISS! Che!

My entire body relaxed after I cleared my mind. I looked at the time and after I took a fragrant bath I went to bed early. A woman should replenish and sleep an adequate amount!

Not surprisingly, Han Lei once again gave me a gift. The difference was that this time he couldn’t wait until after work, but instead openly took me and skipped work.

Han Lei brought me to a jewelry store and made a beeline to the wedding ring counter.

“Bring out all of the wedding rings you have in your store!” Han Lei cleared his throat and commanded.

The young lady at the counter was stunned by Han Lei’s handsomeness for a moment before she brought out the store’s most premium rings out for us to choose from with shining eyes.

“I believe in your insight, choose a pair, we need wedding rings!” Han Lei spoke eagerly.

Okay, if wearing rings would set his mind at ease and increase his self confidence, then let’s buy them. I’m not the one paying anyways.

Thus, I looked left and right until I finally chose a pair of simple yet beautiful platinum wedding rings.

In the car, Han Lei looked at the ring on his hand and slightly wrinkled his eyebrows and mumbled, “Aren’t women supposed to like diamond rings with as many carats as possible?

I raised my eyebrows, while pretending to be professional and said, “As a professional designer, let me tell you, simplicity is beauty!”

Looking at my serious face, Han Lei foolishly half-understandably nodded, showing a very thoughtful look.

Pfft! I wanted to laugh again.

After a week, under the cooperation of Lin Zhe, we were congratulating ourselves for finishing the project ahead of schedule. Thus, I felt that it was necessary to have a serious discussion with him.

I invited him to a coffee shop near the company and I got right to the point.

“Lin Zhe, we are better off as friends, don’t waste your time on me anymore,” I sincerely said.

“You’re really not going to give me a chance?” Lin Zhe expressionlessly laughed and asked.

“You know that the problem is not about whether I give you a chance or not, right?”

“I truly regret it; I shouldn’t have given up on you that time.”

“Feelings can’t be forced and at that time you could only see senior sister. Furthermore, I don’t like being a substitute.”

    “I’m truly sorry about that.”

Although I couldn’t deny that he had really hurt me that year, I shook my head and smiled to show that I didn’t mind.

Lin Zhe suddenly looked straight at me and took my hand that was on the table. Using the utmost serious tone he asked, “I really can’t?”

I also seriously looked at him and firmly said, “Sorry, I love him.”

His hand that was holding onto my hand slowly loosened and Lin Zhe returned to his gentle tone and said, “Okay then. I will give up but I have a request, can you give me a goodbye kiss?”

I smiled and nodded because after we finish this kiss we would really return to just being good friends.

We both stood up and Lin Zhe approached me. His slightly cool lips lightly touched mine, just like the superficial kisses from my memory and then he quickly left.

Lin Zhe had always been a very gentle, considerate, and upright man.

After watching Lin Zhe leave, I seemed to have saw a familiar silhouette, even though it quickly flashed past.

    My right eye palpitated ominously.

I couldn’t be wrong. I wouldn’t have mistaken that silhouette even if it were turned into ashes.

That was certainly Han Lei’s loyal spy — comrade Qin Hao’s silhouette.

    Additional Comments:

I and Lizi also agreed that what Xia Ying did was stupid as she was married to Han Lei yet she kissed another man on the lips! Lin Zhe also shouldn’t have asked his ex for a “goodbye kiss”, especially since Xia Ying was a married woman. We personally feel that both of their actions were wrong and that these characters’ choices were influenced, probably, by the author.

But, there will be no more third-parties in their relationship~ No more lovers from the past nor temptresses~ ^^

P.S. If you haven’t checked out our Discord yet, do come and chat with us~ ^^ We look forward to chatting with you guys~

The next day, Lin Zhe really did take action. He only used one excuse and was able to achieve the goal of meeting with me alone. As it happened, the excuse he used made people unable to refuse.

Han Lei agreed unwillingly. After forcing a smile and gnashing his teeth, he said, “Okay then, you guys should go and properly research and discuss, and finish work as soon as possible!”

Then, he stood at the door and watched me and Lin Zhe leave.

Lin Zhe’s excuse was simple. He requested that we discuss work details together.

But the reason why Han Lei was so angry and crazy was not because we were alone, but rather it was because Lin Zhe really only did discuss work details with me. Because Han Lei, that big idiot, was confident that he would have intentions towards me, however…

During work, Lin Zhe was very serious and demanding. We would often discuss and research even the smallest detail more than a hundred times in order to attain perfect results.

Even though I felt somewhat suspicious that Lin Zhe had no special intentions towards me, I prefered to believe that he was just joking around the other day, especially considering that my husband was Han Lei.

But it turned out that I was in fact too naive. I was wrong, really really wrong, especially after receiving roses from Lin Zhe.

That day, when I was sitting at my desk engrossed with a project, I suddenly received a bouquet of roses. I opened up the card that was tucked inside and looked,  inside had just one signature — Lin Zhe.

When I faced those colorful and fiery roses, I twitched the corners of my mouth. I felt a burst of pain from a throbbing headache for no reason at all.

Then the phone rang, all I could hear was Han Lei gnashing his teeth.

“I heard that, that guy sent you a big bouquet of roses?”

    Uh…”

    How did you know?

“You want to know how I knew? Hmph, when Qin Hao was walking past you guy’s Design Department, he coincidentally saw it. He then reported back to me immediately and informed me of the situation.”

So it was comrade Qin Hao, weren’t you too coincidental?

“You don’t need to say anything right now, just listen to me! Throw those flowers into the trash immediately. Then after work I will take you somewhere. Click!” (t/n: I believe that “Click” refers to ending the call.)

Looking at the hanged up phone call, then at the innocent roses lying on my desk, throwing them away would truly be a pity. It’d be better to just give them away to my colleagues.

However, where exactly was Han Lei taking me to after work? His voice had a tinge of forlorn, perhaps we will be entering a tiger’s den?

Of course, the place he was taking me to was not a tiger’s den, but rather — a flower shop.

He silently pulled me into the flower shop and cooly said, “Go and choose a bundle of flowers that you like!”

Facing a pile of gorgeous and fully bloomed flowers that I didn’t know the names of, I was flabbergasted and I looked puzzlingly at Han Lei.

His handsome face slightly blushed and avoided my gaze. He turned his head the other way and unnaturally said, “Didn’t that guy send you flowers?”

Pfft!” I couldn’t help but laughed out loud.

Hehe, Han Lei ah Han Lei, how could you be so adorable?

Han Lei unhappily looked at my face that was grinning from ear to ear. Once again, turned his head the other way and unhappily made hmph hmph sounds.

I walked up to him while smiling and took his hand. I rubbed my head on his arm, smiled brightly and said, “Let me tell you a secret, I am actually allergic to pollen!”

Ah?” Han Lei dazedly looked at me and then shifted his eyes, “Then let’s go eat!”

The next few days, Lin Zhe kept sending me things, and as always, under Qin Hao’s coincidental report, Han Lei would throw everything away and buy it for me again.

Until one day, Lin Zhe called me to the company’s entrance and personally handed me a beautiful brooch.

I held the gift awkwardly and requested him to stop sending things, but he just smiled and turned around and resplendently walked away.

I looked at Lin Zhe’s silhouette and helplessly let out a sigh. Suddenly, the gift that was in my hands was snatched away from me by an unexpected hand. I turned around startled. It turns out that it was Han Lei.

I forced a laugh and it seemed like this time I had gotten caught red-handed. It couldn’t have been that Qin Hao had coincidentally saw and informed him to come down, right?

Han Lei gloomily glared at the gift for a moment and then gripped it and threw it backwards. The gift formed a perfectly elegant arc straight towards the trashcan.

I watched the gift go into the trashcan. In that moment I witnessed Han Lei’s brutality and inhuman actions. It truly was an outrageous atrocity.

Can’t Provoke A Man Who Eats Vinegar

In this world, other than crazy women that shouldn’t be provoked, men who eats vinegar were far scarier.

Lin Zhe’s complexion slowly began to darken after Han Lei respectfully called him “senior”. I think it was mainly because of Han Lei’s satirical yet serious, respectful tone that caused him to be angry.

Ultimately, our dinner was hastily brought to an end by Han Lei’s extreme shamelessness.

After returning home and taking a shower, Han Lei sat on the bed with a complex face.

When I stepped out of the bathroom, I saw Han Lei sitting on the bed pouting with a complex face as if he wanted to hit his head against the wall. I slightly sighed, I realized that if I didn’t tell him about the relationship between Lin Zhe and I, then I wouldn’t be able to sleep tonight. Thus, I obediently went to bed and sat face to face with him.

“Xia Ying, you are quite audacious! Lenient for those who confess, punishment for those who lie! Honestly explain your relationship with Lin Zhe!” Han Lei said in a loud voice with a solemn face while sitting crossed legged with both hands crossed in front of his chest.

Lenient for those who confess, punishment for those who lie? Wasn’t that too far?

My mouth twitched a little and I forced a laugh. I also sat crossed legged in front of him and slowly raised my hand to wipe off the sweat on my forehead. I then briefly recounted the story of how Lin Zhe and I met, fell in love, and ultimately why we broke up.

En…” after listening to my “confession”, Han Lei quietly said, “En.” He then lowered his head and stared at the bed sheet.

Han Lei sat there staring at the bed sheet, but I couldn’t help but rub my sleepy eyes. I Intended to let him process it for a little bit longer and then remind him that it was already time to go to sleep.

Right when I was scheduling an appointment with Zhou Gong (t/n: The God of Dreams), Han Lei’s deep voice sounded out.

“Then… do you still think of him?”

Er…this…” I turned my head to the side, as if I was silently contemplating.

“What! You’re actually hesitating? How could you actually think so seriously about this?” Han Lei was provoked by my hesitation and gnashed his teeth.

I winced when he yelled, this guy was truly louder than the average person.

I rested my head on Han Lei’s lap and comfortably lied down while looking at his handsome face that was right above mine. I softly smiled and said, “Honestly, every woman can’t forget their first love and I am no exception. Even though I don’t have that initial heart pounding desire like before, it is still an unforgettable memory. I can’t guarantee that I won’t think of him in the future, but I can guarantee that my feelings towards him are as friends only. So stop letting your imagination run wild. It could be said that you either don’t trust me or you don’t have faith in yourself?”

I looked at his idiot looking like face coldly, I really wanted to tell him that both of my eyes saw that he had no faith in himself.

After the idiotic laughter stopped, Han Lei lowered his face and faced me, his pupils darkened after catching my glance. He parted his thin lips slightly and smiled, “What should I do, I really don’t have any confidence. We should merge our bodies to re-establish an indestructible confidence! “

This guy, if you want to have sex then just say it. I couldn’t believe he actually used such a lame excuse.

After sensing his male hormones, what could I do? I also wanted to merge together with him.

Okay then, let’s turn off the lights and roll around in the sheets.

    Shh! Don’t be noisy!

Right, the man was Lin Zhe, and the woman turned out to be our headmaster’s wife.

Lin Zhe kissed her deeply. Even onlookers could tell that he was hugging her with force, as if wanting to melt her into his body. I had never seen that kind of Lin Zhe. I had never experienced that kind of kiss and hug. Somehow that made me feel envious.

Contrary to expectations, there was no shrieking, weeping, or any heartache. I slowly walked out of the woods without disturbing a single leaf.

After that night, Lin Zhe grew more concerned about me, treated me more politely, and even gazed at me more affectionately. It was clear to me that he was not thinking about me, but rather of the headmaster’s wife.

According to my observations, the headmaster’s wife was his second wife and their age difference was very large. The headmistress was still young and beautiful after marriage, I reckon that she and Lin Zhe were a couple before, but for some reason separated. Later, Lin Zhe discovered that parts of my temperament and appearance resembled the headmistress. Thus selfishly borrowed me to think of someone else.

I remained calm and collected, allowing Lin Zhe to make his choice because I didn’t want to maintain a reluctant relationship.

Finally, Lin Zhe told me that he was going to resign and go abroad. I knew that he had ultimately chosen the headmistress. The glorified excuse he used was that he was going abroad to further his studies, but in reality, he was eloping with her.

Therefore, before Lin Zhe explicitly suggested that we break up, I took the initiative to ask. After taking the initiative to break up, I let out a small sigh of relief. It seemed that compared to being a lover, he’s more qualified to be my big brother next-door.

I sent the secretly eloping couple off with a smile, thus my first love ended. In the end, I wasn’t as strong as I thought I was and cried. My heart felt suffocated and sad.

It seems like nobody can get used to high schoolers talking about adult love.

“Oh, saying this, you guy’s feelings ought not to be too bad?”

Han Lei pulled me back from reminiscing with his indifferent words.

I turned to look at Han Lei, oops, although this guy was laughing, but his smile didn’t quite reach his eyes. Furthermore, his tone was quite strange.

I twitched my mouth with ridicule, as I really didn’t know how to answer.

Ultimately, Lin Zhe invited me to have dinner together with the excuse of reminiscing and discussing work details.

At night, sitting in a high grade restaurant, Lin Zhe and I quietly ate, just like back in the day when we were dating.

After dinner, Lin Zhe helped pour wine for the both of us and started to chat idly with me.

“Seeing you accomplishments nowadays, I am truly happy for you.” Lin Zhe said with a smile.

I embarrassingly fiddled with my hair and shyly said, “Not really, our president was just joking around.”

“Right, is your relationship with senior sister still as good as before? Your relationship with her made everyone jealous! How come I didn’t see senior sister return with you?” In fact, the headmaster’s wife was also a student of our school before. Because I didn’t know her name, I could only refer to her as senior sister.

Hearing my words, Lin Zhe looked away from me and in his black pupils, a trace of loss flickered. When he looked back at me, he had recovered his original calmness. He smiled and said, “We broke up.”

This news was too shocking for me. They were madly in love to even elope, yet they had broken up!

“Um, sorry, I didn’t mean to.” I really didn’t know what to say.

Hehe, why apologize, it was because our personalities didn’t match is all.” He shrugged his shoulders and said with an unconcerned look.

All I could do at this moment was force a smile.

He suddenly leaned over, bringing his face close to mine and earnestly said, “”Now that I have seen you again, I regret it, regret that I left you.”

“But, I’m married!” I was so shocked that I couldn’t help but blurt it out.

    Aiya, a step too late.”

He leaned against the back of the chair and raised his glass. His eyes flashed with an indescribable expression and then said with a smile, “So what, even if you’re married you could divorce. Anyway, I decided to pursue you once again.”

How could he be like this, as if I have to stand in place and wait for him. Furthermore, his tone made it sound as if only he could decide when to break up, like I couldn’t get married without his consent. Maybe I would have if I hadn’t met Han Lei, but now, sorry, this pasture of mine was not worthy of you, this regretful horse to eat.

But, after all, we had once loved each other, hence I decided to think of standard, profound words to refuse him without hurting him.

Just when I was hesitating, I heard Han Lei’s voice.

    Aiyaya! Isn’t this Mr. Lin?”

Han Lei, who had suddenly appeared, walked toward us gracefully and stood beside me. He then proceeded to artificially greet Lin Zhe.

Artificial ah artificial, Han Lei ah Han Lei, not only was your smile artificial, even your tone was artificial.

Lin Zhe froze for a bit and said with an expressionless face, “Yeah, such a coincidence, is President Han also here for dinner?”

Han Lei smiled even more brilliantly, sat down beside me, and put his arms around my waist possessively, eyes not smiling and said, “No, I came to find my wife. Who told her to accompany another man for dinner while leaving me all alone!”

Lin Zhe looked at me with a questioning face, the smile on his face seemed to have become deformed.

Hehe,” I forced a laugh. “I’ll introduce him although I suppose no introduction is needed, President Han is actually my husband.” I then turned to Han Lei and whispered into his ear, “This Mr.Lin is actually my first love.”

Hearing this, Han Lei opened his eyes wide, with a face full of seriousness and respect, shouted to Lin Zhe: “Senior!”

Senior… He called Lin Zhe senior….

I quickly lowered my head, resisting my laugh that was about to pfff out.

Han Lei ah Han Lei, you’re truly talented!

A Good Pasture Does Not Let A Regretful Horse Eat

I’m a good horse that will never turn round to graze on an old pasture.

Since returning from my parental home, the feelings between Han Lei and I could even be said to have been rapidly escalated, everyday was super sweet, this guy looked for different excuses everyday to kidnap me into his office to kiss, of course, it was during lunch breaks or when work was not busy.

Today, just a moment ago, we reluctantly parted our kiss at the company’s parking lot, and now, after only a few hours, a call from Han Lei summoning me to his office again. (more…)

After mother-in-law heard my family history, her face was full of distress, affection, and the eagerness to do mischief.

She held my hand, and heroically said, “Those three stupid women actually dare to bully our Han family’s people. Good daughter-in-law, mother-in-law will help you take care of this resentment, hence, I have decided to send this brat out, allow them to experience firsthand what verbal insults really are! Han Lei! Rise!”

A hint of evilness and precisely the same mischief like his mother’s flashed in Han Lei’s eyes when he heard the “decree”. Then, he looked up, faced us, reverting once again to his original calmness and friendliness, and smilingly said, “Yes, Ma’am! This servant will complete the mission without fail!”

Witnessing the sinister smiles of this mother and son pair, I felt a sudden chill and began to silently, insincerely pray for my stepmother and stepsisters.

One weekend, Han Lei found an excuse to visit the wife’s parental home, pulled me and sat on the sofa in a refined manner.

Facing outsiders, especially with strangers, Han Lei always liked to use a government official’s expression and tone: a friendly and gentle smile, a polite and aloof tone.

Han Lei deliberately emitted his charming charms and made stepmother and stepsisters dizzy from his charms, jealous of my luck, especially the younger unmarried sister of the two sisters, deliberately pulled down her collar, attempting to use beauty to seduce Han Lei.

I looked at her openly portrayed chest, I sneered in my heart, it’s useless, I have used this move before, it was completely ineffective.

As expected, Han Lei didn’t even glance at her once, his eyes looking straight at stepmother.

Oh, I see, he’s planning to start from stepmother.

Stepmother got real shy and embarrassed under Han Lei’s gaze, so she took the initiative and sweetly said, “Ai ya, so you are our Xia Ying’s husband, oh hehe, this little girl’s fate is really good, I am her mother.”

Han Lei ignored stepmother’s delicate smile and just turned, asking me tenderly, “Darling, is she your mother?”

I shrugged and revoltingly said, “I don’t know ah, anyways, my dad never acknowledged it.”

This was also our stepmother’s fatal wound. Dad had brought them home, but had never showed willingness to provide, love or care for them. More like, he had been exhibiting them, putting them aside, and abandoning them.

When he heard my words, Han Lei laughed with that very friendly laugh of his and softly said, “So it’s like this ah, ai, our father-in-law is rather admirable, would rather travel around the world then to face this woman, say, a woman who could force one’s man away must be very tragic, not to mention it’s a woman who was old yet likes to pretend to be young.”

Stepmother was mortally injured by Han Lei’s laden words, couldn’t hang onto her face and rushed back to her room, once again placing her hopes onto her own two daughters and a son-in-law.

Of the two sisters, the elder one had got married two years ago and lived at our home with her husband. That so-called brother-in-law fantasized about me with his lecherous eyes for two years.

At this moment, elder stepsister was gazing at Han Lei lecherously, while brother-in-law was gazing at me lecherously, both husband and wife were the same type, truly a perfect match.

Han Lei blocked elder stepsister’s intense amorous glances with his glasses, evoked a smile, slowly said, “Nowadays, kittens who are in heat truly doesn’t distinguish between the time and place ah, more surprisingly, both husband and wife are in heat. Darling, it has been really hard for you those two years, forced to face a stupid, in heat, kitten everyday, why didn’t you sue that kitten for sexual harassment? If it’s me, I not only will sue that kitten, but also give them a good beating, what do you think? Elder brother and elder sister sitting in the front.”

Elder stepsister and brother-in-law’s faces turned stiff from Han Lei’s words, complexions changing erratically, completely the cold type.

“Also,” Han Lei continued, as before with that friendly tone, “The elder sister that kept pulling on your collar, even if you’re someone’s appetite, yet have these dirty, vulgar thoughts, dirtying peoples’ pure eyes, aiya, also know how to glare at people, double eyelids have been cut, the bridge of the nose filtered, jaw bone shaved, skin pulled, that chest must be filled with water, right? Lastly, listen to my advice, in the future, it’s best if you don’t put on makeup to scare people, ah.”

Younger stepsister suffered a great blow and looked at Han Lei, wailing with a finely painted  exquisite makeup face.

Presently, everyone was quiet, the three people sitting on the sofa who were basically petrified looked at Han Lei with frightened faces, found that he was still smiling, however that smile completely lacked warmth, eyes were ice-cold.

Han Lei was truly worthy of being the husband of the modern version Cinderella!

Seeing that we already toyed them more or less, I pulled Han Lei’s hands, indicating that we can gloriously leave.

Han Lei smiled at me, it was a smile that had a hint of pride at the corners of his eyes.

Thus we scattered our sleeves, didn’t take a single cloud away, leaving the three women and man stunned in place to recover.

When we arrived at the front door of Han Lei’s house, he stood in front of the door with a serious face, looked at me and said, “Xia Ying, I believe that father and mother-in-law had ulterior motives when they left home, but don’t you worry, you can rely on me as much as you want, in the future, I am your spouse and relative, my family is your family, and my home, is your home.”

After saying this, Han Lei opened the door, stepped inside and wittily said, “Welcome home!”

Turns out that he was such an attentive man, understanding all my worries, restlessness and loneliness.

I smiled, my eyes tearing up, and threw myself into his arms, replying with a choked voice, “En, I’m back!”

Yep, from now on, Han Lei and all the old and young in the Han family were my family, and wherever Han Lei’s home was, it would be my, Xia Ying’s, home!

    Cinderella’s Parental Home

The modern version of Cinderella said: We need to be the stepmother of all stepmothers!

    That year was snowy.

That year, I just ascended into high school.

    That day was sunny.

Mom dragged a huge suitcase to the front door and smilingly said to me, “My Ying (t/n: means cherry), mother will be leaving now, but you have to remember, mother will always be your mother. In the future, you have to look after yourself, if you meet some hardships, strive to overcome it, if you encounter an evil person, you have to be more evil than them, and if you meet a stepmother,” she paused for a bit, revealing coldness in her eyes and smilingly said, “You have to be the stepmother of all stepmothers!” (more…)
